Food and Beverage Control Systems
Food and beverage control systems
Food and beverage control systems can help you introduce the same financial rigour to your dining
establishment or catering company that you ll find in manufacturing operations.
What is a food and beverage control system?
A food and beverage control system is a means of computerizing best practice within a restaurant or
catering operation. It gives managers a better idea of the flow of food through the restaurant,
enabling them to plan cash flow and stock control more effectively. At the sharp end, it provides
chefs with a more structured way of planning menus, taking into account nutritional and financial
considerations.

Creating a database of suppliers and ingredients will enable you to manage ingredient pricing more
effectively.
Nutrition
More applicable for specialist dining establishments (such as those in hospitals) or catering
companies, the ability to provide nutritional information on the food you serve can offer you a
competitive edge, and reassure customers particularly in areas such as school dinners, for example.
Recipe management
Many chefs either work from memory without any clear recipe, or have incomplete recipes that
they do not follow.
Codifying recipes helps you to manage your ingredients more effectively, while building in
standard estimates for wastage (such as the yield after peeling and chopping vegetables, or the
wastage caused by evaporation and transfer of a cream sauce from bowl to bowl). This will help
you to price your food more accurately. If you know exactly what a meal costs to make, you can
price it more accurately to undercut the competition while still making a quantifiable profit.
When looking at recipe management, consider the ability to nest recipes, because most recipes are
made up of multiple others. And a function to scale recipes easily for different quantities will be
invaluable for busy chefs.
Stock control and purchasing
Some food and beverage control systems give you the chance to inventory your food and create
purchase orders for more so you can maintain a minimum level of

Monkey See Monkey 2 Analysis
In the article, Monkey See, Monkey 2: Scientists Clone Monkeys Using Technique that Created
Dolly the Sheep, written by Jen Christensen of CNN, explains how scientists have cloned a
monkey in China. The article described how using somatic cell transfer, the removing a nucleus
from an unfertilized egg and replacing it with with a nucleus from another cell, which is then
transplanted into a surrogated mother, scientists were capable of creating a clone of a primate. My
position on this experiment is believing animals should not be cloned due to the fact that it can
result in many different complications.
To start off, cloningis inefficient and a very hazardous procedure. There have been many attempts
to clone primates other than humans,

Review of the Montessori Method
The Montessori Method Review Paper
Lisa Ahlgrim
National Louis University
Maria Montessori was a visionary woman, passionate about providing quality education to all
children. Born in 1870, at a time where few women attended college and were not expected to
work in any area other than teaching, Maria grew up determined to become a doctor in spite of
society, and even her father s reservations. She was not accepted into the University of Rome, but
with her spirit of perseverance, Maria gained the help of Pope Leo XIII to intercede on her behalf.
In 1896, she graduated and became the first woman to gain her doctorate in Italy (A Biography of

purpose in mind and should enable the child to exercise their senses in order for the child to be
engaged in their learning (Montessori, 1912, p. 169). Furniture in the classroom was also meant
to be child sized so that the child could fully explore their environment and make it their own
(Montessori, 1912, p. 82). Maria Montessori s book gives a picture of her passion for children
and to help them learn the way she perceived that they were meant to. By having the opportunity
to read her original work afforded me the opportunity to understand her philosophies more
clearly. I agree that her ideas have an important place in education today and see that she tips the
scale in child and teacher led activities to be led by children in order for those activities to be
more relevant to the child as well as having a greater impact on their learning. I appreciate her
use of didactic materials that are designed to be practical and that her activities and play are
focused as closely to real life and community as possible. This allows the child to truly prepare for
life beyond the classroom. In Maria s opinion on the role and training of her teachers, while I

Essay Comparing The Book Of Job And Aesop s Fables
The Book of Job and Aesop s Fables, despite their stark differences in characters, style, and
rhetoric, both share similar themes, including love, loss, and the importance of lending a helping
hand. The Shepard and the Lion, demonstrates how imperative it is to take the time to assist
others. In the fable, the Shepard removes a thorn from the lion s paw. Later on the Shepard was
falsely accused of a crime and at the next public games...thrown to beasts, (p.626). However, the
lion recognizes the Shepard and in the end, the lion is spared and the man set free. When one
takes time to helps those in need, it is likely that others will be willing to do the same when you
are in need. Although, this lesson is not plainly stated in the Book of Job, the actions of Job indicate
the importance of helping others, even if they seem undeserving.... Show more content on

The men conclude, Job must have committed an act(s) worthy of punishment. Zophar the
Naamathite, implies Job is deserving of a punishment greater than what he has received, (11:1 12).
Once God spoke to Job, he asked that Job pray for his friends (p.217), Job obliged. Rather than
condemn his friends, as they did to him, Job prayed for them, hinting that he cares about them, as
well as validating his selflessness. Even though Job lost everything, including his home, family,
and health, he continues to love and worship God. Love, is not as prominent of a theme in the
fables analyzed for the course, nevertheless, in The Wolf in Sheep s Clothing, one possible lesson
is, love yourself as you are and do not try to be someone that you are not. However, a strong theme
seen throughout both is loss or rather the idea that one has to lose everything in order to appreciate

Research Paper On Constructivism
Constructivism: A Review
Abstract
Constructivism is an all encompassing theory of learning that emerged as a prevailing paradigm in
the last part of the twentieth century. Constructivism is a theory which brings cogitation to
pedagogy (Bruner, 1966). Constructivism capitalizes on the ways in which human beings create
their own personal construct of reality by understanding and experiencing the world. The
cornerstone of constructivism is that constructing personal meaning is ingrained in individuals
right from the birth (Vygotsky, 1978).
The Overview
Constructivist approach explains the ways in which learners make their own personal senses of
learning tasks, the environment, the teacher, and the actual process of learning (Vygotsky, 1962).
Constructivism ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In education teacher acts more akin to a mediator consulting and helping learner grow. Social
constructivism adopts its stance as internationalist perspective operating within social context.
Learners are actively involved in the process of learning shaping their experiences about the world
by other significant people (Vygotsky, 1962).
3
Constructivism is part of educational psychology which places the learner at the central focus.
Learner learns by interacting in a social context of teacher and text. Each individual learner is sui
generis, no two learners are the same. The ways they view the world are not the same. Learners
bring these differences to the learning situation. Teachers must be cognizant of these differences.
Furthermore no two teachers and teaching situations are ever the same. Like students, teachers
should become self aware of their beliefs and attitude to the teaching and learning and make their
own contributions to the learner as the situations arise (Williams and Burden, 1997). While learners
are interacting with the task beforehand, teachers are required to take the learners response to the
tasks to see if they are appropriate to their levels of developments congruent

Digital Classroom Plan Analysis
The Volusia County School District adopted in December 2015, it s Digital Classroom Plan. This
plan was created to support the instructional shifts required by Florida Standards through the use of
digital tools and technologies. The plan also supports the Digital Learning Now Act (July 1, 2011),
which requires school districts to offer virtual instruction and requires online learning as a
requirement for high schoolgraduation. The plan also included professional development and
curriculum resources for teachers for digital instructional materials aligned to Florida Standards,
online assessments and other technology tools (Volusia County Schools, 2015).

level: Lead Facilitator of DCP and Digital Resource Teacher on Assignment. The Lead Facilitator
position s salary would be $69,000 for 12 month position and the TOA salary would be $39,000
for 10 month position. These positions would oversee training during professional development
and troubleshooting issues with Canvas and other digital tools being used by the district. These
costs would be similar to the current cost already being spent on Sharepointe and Moodle, which
will be eliminated after Canvas has been purchased. The two new positions are being paid through
a grant through the State of Florida for implementing a Digital Classroom Plan and would not be
added to the district s current budget. The overall management of the plan would be overseen and
tracked by the Director of Technology Services.
This project is a real life scenario, and is being considered by Volusia County School District.
Currently, the district is using the free access to look at the features of Canvas. Extant data was
used from the Digital Learning Plan to create this proposal. Canvas will eliminate the problem of
training for multiple software and allow accessibility through mobile devices. The cost figures are

Using A Handheld Portable Gas Detector Weighting Up
One of the main challenges in this effort is how to autonomously operate multiple sensors for
oxygen monitoring and to replace the existing technology which is based on a handheld portable
gas detector weighting up to 5lbs and placed in the belt or waistband of the worker. Our innovative
design is based on converting wasted mechanical energy from the movement of the worker to useful
amount of energy by using the piezoelectric transduction mechanism. Depending on the movement
of the worker and the performed tasks, two possible piezoelectric energy harvestingsystems can be
designed. The first one will be composed of a flexible piezoelectric layer attached on the top of
an aluminum sheet and directly attached to the skin of the worker as a band, as shown in Fig.
2(a). As for the second design of the energy harvester shown in Fig. 2(b), it will be based on the
available excitation motion of the worker. This harvester will be efficient when the resonance
phenomenon takes place. This harvester will be integrated in the clothes of the worker.
As for the second design, low frequency excitations are present due to the worker s motion
including walking and contraction and expansion of his muscles. These low excitation motion can
provide viable amounts of wasted mechanical energy that can be converted to power many critical
devices including sensors for oxygen monitoring, pacemakers, defibrillators, cell phones, and
wireless sensors and actuators. A significant impediment in the

How Did Patterson Became An American
Frederick Douglass Patterson was born on October 10, 1901, in Washington, D.C. He was the
youngest of five children and was named after abolitionist Frederick Douglass. Both of Patterson
s parents died of tuberculosis when he was still a toddler, and at just 2 years old, he was sent to
live with his aunt Julia Dorsey. When Patterson was 7, his older sister Wilhelmina Bessie became
his legal guardian.
Patterson went to primary school and high school programs at Sam Houston College and Prairie
View College in Texas. During the summers, he took odd jobs to earn money. One of these was as
a driver for a wealthy family. Although Frederick had never driven before applying for the
position, he got the job and taught himself to drive. He also taught himself how to play tennis,
which became a lifelong hobby. Patterson says he became interested in school when he had to ...

The Roman Catholic Church in Medieval Times Essay
In the Medieval times, the Roman Catholic Church played a great role in the development of
England and had much more power than the Church of today does. In Medieval England, the
Roman Catholic Church dominated everyday life and controlled everyone whether it is knights,
peasants or kings. The Church was one of the most influential institutions in all of Medieval
England and played a large role in education and religion. The Church s power was so great that
they could order and control knights and sends them to battle whenever they wished to. The Church
also had the power to influence the decision of Kings and could stop or pass laws which benefited
them in the long run, adding to this, the Church had most of the wealth in Europeas the... Show

As the tenth century rolled about, the power of the Roman Catholic Church grew steadily stronger,
the church had an argument with the normal Kingdom over who should rule supreme out of the
Pope or the King, the church believed that the Pope who is the voice of God on Earth should be
the ruler of the world while the peasants thought that the King should, the power struggle eventually
ended with the Church coming out as the dominant force in the West. The Church passed a law
that stated that everyone (mostly peasants) is forced to pay 10% of their income to the Church.
The church had the ability to stop any laws that they did not like or make some new laws that
benefited them, they were a very powerful group that could manipulate the peasants and knights in
any way they liked, in Church there were photos of people being tortured in hell, this intensified the
peoples longing for heaven and therefore extended the power and influence of the church. All
Christians were expected to attend the mass and, by the 13th century, were expected to take the
Eucharist at least once a year.
The Medieval monastery was established during the middle Ages, this was a place where people got
together (mostly monks, nuns and other spiritual beings) and they spent their time praying,

Socrates and True Knowledge
Writing Prompt : Socrates and True Knowledge With the notion of philosophy and the studying of

This becomes the soul of his progression to learning about true knowledge as this is a pure
display of ignorance, A pretense of ignorance and of willingness to learn from another assumed in
order to make the other s false conception conspicuous by adroit reasoning (Vlastos 2). This will be
later and formally known as Socratic irony. Socrates goes on to develop criteria necessary for such
knowledge which drives onto the ethics of life, or the proper way on behaving. According to
Socrates the criteria is to determine whether something is right or wrong and that one shouldn t
concern themselves with the outcome but whether the act was just or unjust, which brings
morality into the picture. Socrates believed that in order for morality to exist depended on
whether one had knowledge of such definitions. So in essence, virtue is knowledge, if you know
what is right, you will do what is right. The necessity and sufficiency for moral behavior hinged
upon knowing a Socratic definition. This in the end depicts to us the difference between a life
lived with pleasure or utilitarian goals, a life lived honorably. So in reality to practice
philosophy is to practice for dying and death, which is the separation of body and soul. The soul
referring to matters of ideas and intellect and body to material matters. Philosophy thus teaches us
how to care more for our mind than our body and to move away from body because the body is an

Marketing Strategy Essay
METHODOLOGY
Objective of the project
We currently have a prototype of a product which is a new web application that would combine
groupware tools and social media. It is only a prototype however, and the company still wants to
come up with ways to improve it by either adding or removing features from it. A marketing
strategy was discussed and agreed on in which we launched a marketing web campaign on
Facebook and WeChat to use the feedback of the participants in order to make changes to the
prototype as we see fit.
Frameworks for analysis

Traditional product analytics is usually metrics focused, and the function normally depends on
gathering as much quantity of data as possible on net promoter scores, cost of acquisition,
conversion rates, retention rates and so on.
Happiness:
Happiness focuses on information points like user surveys, where users tell you how much they
like the product.
Engagement:
Level of user involvement, typically measured via behavioral proxies such as frequency, intensity,
or depth of interaction over some time period.
Adoption:
New users of a site or app. Most users just try a new feature because it is new, instead of having an
inherent goal to adopt it because it is good. Hence it is important to understand the actual product
and what constitutes success by understanding how the user flow works from a design pattern
standpoint.
Retention:
The rate at which existing users are returning. That means customers are interested in this site or
app.
Task Success:
Traditional behavioral metrics of user experience, such as efficiency (e.g. time to complete a
task), effectiveness (e.g. percent of tasks completed), and error rate. This category is most
applicable to areas of your product that are very task focused, such as search or an upload flow.

You must look at the color, the consistency, the clarity and the shape of the aura. There are
specific meanings for each of the colors of the aura which we will deal with in a separate
chapter. The primary colors have set meanings, but a combination color such as a reddish brown
would take on qualities of both colors. And how clear and bright the color is, is very important
to the interpretation, because a bright color means something very different than a dull color.
As you learn about the colors you will also learn about where on the body the color is. Each
chakra in the body is associated with a certain color so don t be surprised to find that color near
that chakra. Colors around one area can mean one thing and around a different area mean
something completely different. When we look at a person s aura we are looking at their true
self, everything that is left after you take away all the habits, mannerisms, the people they pretend
to be, and their frivolous, trivial behavior. Their aura shows who they truly are not the facade they
show everyone in public. In general, the more balanced the aura, the healthier and more stabilized
the person is. When taking in the whole aura you also may notice holes in some places. This can

The Adoption Of Electronic Health Records
According to a survey from SK A, after an initial migration to health IT solutions, practice
owners adoption of electronic health records (EHR) has plateaued with only about a 2.8%
increase from January 2014 to January 2015. The survey found that overall adoption by
physicians is 62.8%, and that, in general, the larger the practice, the (not surprisingly) higher the
adoption rates, with 77.2% of docs at medical groups of 25 or more members using EHRs this is
compared to only 54.5% of solo practitioners adopting the technology. Why the Drop in Adoption
Rates? Other survey findings clearly illustrate the fact that while EHRs do come with benefits,
most are not embraced by physicians because of their lack of functionality and difficulty of use.
According to this survey , overall provider satisfaction with EHRs has declined by almost 30%
over the past five years. Conducted by the American Medical Association and American EHR
Partners, the survey questioned 940 practice owners about their level of satisfaction with their
EHR. What was interesting right off the bat about these findings was that only 34% of
physicians said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their EHR systems compared to 61% of
respondents who were satisfied only five years ago. The survey also found: 42% of physicians
described their EHR s ability to improve efficiency as difficult or very difficult. 43% said they
were consistently challenged with their EHR s ability to address productivity.

Cleaning A Car After It Has Had Body Work
Cleaning a car after it has had body work done and been buffed is not as simple as it sounds.
There are several steps to this process and each step requires materials a common household would
not have. The materials needed include several microfiber towels, glass cleaner, show shine,
interior cleaner, spray bottles, steel wool, vacuum cleaner with extendable hose, a water hose and
/or a power washer, car wax, and paint thinner. Making a car spick and span after it has been
repaired is not necessarily a complex process, but it does have several steps that a common person
would not think about. The first step to washinga vehicle is to check it over and make sure
everything that was supposed to be fixed is. The easy way to see which parts were replaced is to
feel around the car and find the fresh paint. Fresh paint feels much smoother than the paint on
the original parts of the car. Finding the replaced parts is important because around those parts
are where the rubbing compound leftover from the buffer and the overspray leftover from the
painter will be located. Rubbing compound is what buffers put on the car before they start
buffing so that the buffer itself won t scratch the vehicle. When buffing the white compound will
often get lodged in the small crevices of car, like in the crack between the headlight and car or
the bumper and the back quarter panel. Overspray is a white and rough substance left on the car
from the painters. It can be easily seen on darker color cars,

Critical Analysis Of Throwaway People By Liliana Segura
In the article Throwaway People by Liliana Segura, the author talks about a young girl named
Trina Garnett who was a victim of many things such as; neglect, abuse, starvation, and even cruel
and unusual punishment. There were a couple boys Trina wanted to hang out with (thirteen year
old Brian Harvey and six year old Derrick Harvey), but the boy s mom (Sylvia Harvey) would not
allow it. Out of anger, Trina had started a firein the boy s house when she was around fourteen
years of age. That fire had gotten out of control and ended up killing the two young boys Trina
so desperately wanted to hang out with. Trina ended up in the court system charged with murder.
The court was a slow and horrific process, especially with the lack of support Trina had, her
lawyer did not have any intentions of fighting for her rights and safety. Trina ended up being
sentenced to two life terms plus forty years, that is a total of ninety years. The events that happen

that have shaped my view of life and the world. To give you some examples, my father and I
didn t have the best relationship he was very strict and old school, I lived a sort of prison
/military life. Anytime I would get into trouble or do something impulsive, my father would
preach to me about walking away, or thinking before you act. At first, this was very hard, I had
no patience and I was very impulsive, but with time I learned and overcame. My father passed
away around seven years ago, but still to this day what he taught me and told me sticks in my
mind. I became very observant and started to sit back and absorb as much knowledgeabout the
situations I was in. It made me realize you need to look at the whole picture of what your
viewing, whether it be an article or a person walking down the street. It comes back to that old
saying don t judge a book by its cover. My relationship with my father had shaped all my
experiences with my friends, family, school and even careers.

What Are The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Human Greed
Human greed s and Weaknesses
Human Activities
1)Natural Defences
Plants and geologic features make up an ever present natural defines against flooding. Grasses,
shrubs and trees help keep healthy topsoil in place to absorb excess rainfall, and extensive root
systems can absorb some excess water before it overwhelms a region. Naturally occurring
waterways, flood plains and wetlands all serve as safety valves for floods, drawing high waters
away and dispersing them safely. Unfortunately, human activities can disrupt both of these systems,
increasing the likelihood and severity of floods.
2)Agriculture and Deforestation
Large scale agricultural operations can deplete topsoil, reducing the amount of nutrients present
and degrading its quality. This can lead to a weakening of the surrounding plant life, reducing its
ability to protect against floods. Similarly, deforestation can remove the anchors keeping rich soil
in place, allowing it to wash away and leaving dry, dusty soil in its place ill suited to absorbing
heavy rainfall. This increases the amount of water that washes into rivers and streams, adding to the
volume that passes through the water system and causing floods.
3)Human Development

So, again the root cause is human activities. To reduce flooding in the near future, we need to
address the human causes of flooding. Flood management in Malaysia is still largely dependent on
structural measures (e.g. building SMART Tunnel, dams, embankments, retention ponds etc.).
These do not solve the root causes of flooding which are humans and their activities. We need to put
more emphasis on non structural measures (e.g. legislation/regulation and enforcement, land use
control, awareness and education, flood disaster management, flood warning

Anterograde Amnesia In The Movie 50 First Dates
Anterograde amnesia refers to a memory deficit from brain injury that prevents patients to store
new informations in their short term memories. The patients show normal memories for events that
occurred before the injury but has severely impaired ability to recall information about events that
occurred after the incident. Anterograde amnesiais reflected in the movie 50 first dates through the
main character, Lucy Whitmore, whose memory lasts only a day because her memory stopped on
the day of car accident. (additional description) The movie, 50 first dates, contains valid depiction
of anterograde amnesiayet it also contains some dramatic points that is far from reality. Although
the movie, 50 first dates, was fairly dramatic, it accurately portrays the possible struggles that
patients may experience from anterograde amnesia. The main idea of the movie is that the main
character Lucy gets into a car accident on the day of her father s birthday. The accident causes a
severe brain injury to her temporal lobe and it leads her to suffer from anterograde amnesia.
Because memories of any events occurred after the accident fades away, Lucy wakes up every
morning thinking that it is October 13th, the day of a car accident. Lucy s family helps Lucy to
constantly relive the day before her accident to avoid a pain that Lucy may have as she discovers
her condition. On the other hand, Henry comes into her life thinking that it is better to update her

recommendation for Nefertari Vivian. An intelligent and hard working student, Nefertari
consistently focuses on being successful in her academics. She is a well rounded and adjusted
individual with an apparent positive attitude.
In the beginning of her high school career, Nefertari did not always give priority status to her
academics. She struggled to earn high grades, but this was not from lack of ability. She recognized
the seriousness of her academics towards the end of her junior year. At that point she realized that

These memories will be burned into their brains forever. What these Jewswere put through is

According to the researcher, they examine individual who join gangs commit more crime then non

of gangs have on aggregate crime patterns (George, 2007, p. 208)? This article is a largely review

The study they used was mapping in Pittsburg with participation of gang members and nongang
youth who resided in the gang neighborhood. The researcher then explored the effect of gang set
on the crime levels as carriers, neighbors, and non neighbors. They used 911 calls service calls to
measure crime. Klinger and Bridges (1997) found serious underreporting bias when using 911 data
as a measure of total crime. They attribute this bias to the fact that 23 percent of all crimes handled
by patrol officers emanate from police initiated actions and not from civilian 911 calls (George,
2007, p. 218). The researcher model the 911 call counts using the passion regression model, and
they used Propensity Score Weighting approach to avoid potential bias from the passion
regression model. As a result they examined city level offers very limited support for the
facilitation effect, as only shots fired activity demonstrates a significant increase during the
formation stages of gangs in Pittsburgh (p 231). Also, we compared crime trends over time for

Analysis Of Francesco Petrach s The Ascent Of Mont Ventoux
The beginning of the Renaissance brought many changes to the world. It became known as the Age
of Exploration and it brought in a new perspective on art. This perspective on art is shown through
anything from visual arts to literary art. This time period also introduced the rise of humanism. It
brought into the picture a very optimistic view of humanity. This was shown especially in the work
The Ascent of Mont Ventouxby Francesco Petrarch. This work refers back to Book X of
Confessions by Saint Augustine when Petrarch reaches the top of the mountain. Although they are
both dealing with the same passage, Petrarch and Augustine seem to interpret it in very different
ways. Petrarch wrote the Ascent of Mont Ventoux as a young man. It is a letter to his former
confessor, Dionigi di Borgo San Sepolcro, because he was in seminary school. The letter is
essentially a travel journal about his journey up Mont Ventoux. Petrarch initially wanted to take this
journey with his friends, but they either refused or were not up to his standards. He decide to just
climb the mountain with his brother. At the beginning of the journey, Petrarch writes about his
encounter with an old, cranky man in the foothills of the mountain. The man pretty much tells them
that it is a dumb idea which just encourages them to finish the journey even more. They eventually
reach the top of the mountain a few days later. At the top, Petrarch pulls out his copy of
Confessions and reads a small portion. He

A Clean, Well-Lighted Place
In Ernest Hemingway s A Clean, Well Lighted Place, Hemingway introduces a protagonist, the old
man, as a loner who is more distinct due to his deafness. The old man s isolation stems from his
deafness. Hemingway highlights interior contrasts like old and young between the characters.
Hemingway emphasizes exterior contrasts such as light and dark through setting. Both waiters and
the old man s ideals are challenged by the nothingness that society entails. Hemingway illustrates
alienation and existentialismthrough the atmospheric setting and contentious dialogue. Hemingway
emphasizes alienation through the setting of the cafГ©. The old man s separation from society is
evident in the first sentencewhere he sits in the shadow the leaves of the tree made against the

The older waiter who believes he lacks everything but work exemplifies the characteristics of
existentialism (Hemingway 107). The old waiter deconstructs the Our Father because he too

the older waiter when the older waiter states, Nor can you stand before a bar with dignity
although that is all that is provided for these hours (107). The old man left walking with dignity
because it was his own decision, similar to the choice of suicide. In both cases, the old man is
constructing his own version of reality. The older waiter clings to the cafГ© unlike the bar he
notices. The older waiter orders A little cup that is filled with coffee which indicates an even
stronger connection to the cafГ© (Hemingway 108). The older waiter believes in nothingness
because his life is consistent. The older waiter desires from his life light and a certain cleanness

Analysis Of Titus Andronicus By William Shakespeare
In William Shakespeare s play, Titus Andronicus, the main character Titus Andronicus is a
perfect example of the never ending cycle of vengeance. Throughout the play, Titus and Tamora
seek resolution and closure through revenge. Throughout the play, these characters do not
realize the resolution to their war over vengeance is making peace. When one person chooses to
get back at the other this creates a never ending loop of revenge or topping one another s conflict.
The key to success in this situation would be for one to make peace, and in this play you will
discover how these characters brought closure to their cycle of never ending vengeance. In the
play, the audience is shown how vengeance controls one s perspective. In other words, vengeance
can impact and skew ones view on life and negatively impair one s decisions. The audience
understands from the beginning of the play how Tamora s positive and sympathetic character is
very evident; although, in Act II, her mind and actions has been dramatically skewed and
twisted. Tamora s attitude has been overcome by vengeance as she says, But straight they told
me they would bind me here Unto the body of a dismal yew, And leave me to this miserable
death: And then they call d me foul adulteress, Lascivious Goth, and all the bitterest terms That
ever ear did hear to such effect: And, had you not by wondrous fortune come, This vengeance on
me had they executed. Revenge it, as you love your life, Or be ye not henceforth call d my

which is full of adventure and challenges. I was attracted by the Western culture. Meanwhile,

Since I came to America, I made great progress not only with foreign languages but also with my

Productions and Operations Management
Productions and Operations Management I The three categories of statistical quality control The
three categories of SQC include the traditional statistical tools, acceptance sampling, and
statistical process control (SPC). Traditional statistical tools are descriptive statistics like the
mean and range, used to describe qualitative characteristics. Acceptance sampling is a process of
taking a random sample or portion of a batch and deciding whether to accept or reject the whole
batch. SPC is a process that uses samples to determine whether a process is functioning normally
or not (Ryan, 2011). Traditional statistical tools describe the quality characteristics although they
do not elucidate the extent of the quality (whether good or bad). Acceptance sampling determines
whether an entire batch produced should be accepted or rejected after the goods have been
produced. However, SPC tracks the process to ensure it is functioning properly for a given period.
These tools can be used together effectively. Traditional statistical tools are used as inputs into SPC,
which is updated frequently enough to ensure that quality problems are identified in good time.
Finally, after a batch has been produced, acceptance sampling is used to determine whether the
batch is of good quality or not. The statistical process control Statistical process control is a
technique of controlling, monitoring, and improving processes via statistical analysis. The
philosophy behind this tool holds that

Economic development for small cities can be a problem compared with big cities. The

the small cities more competitive with larger cities. The idea of investing in cultural development is
a viable option to improve the economic developmentof communities spread in rural areas. The

The creative class initiatives are the key force for the economic growth in the post industrial phase
when service sectors outweigh the manufacturing sector. Consistent with the creative class,
promoting art and culture based on the art tour is a suitable idea to help the southwest Iowa
communities to grow. In addition, it also promotes the region encouraging people to visit and
moved to the following cities. According to Zachary Mannheimer, the director of the Des Moines
Social Club, if the city wants to stimulate the economic growth, it should invest in the arts rather
than get started in the jobs, this investment will make small communities achieve optimum results
quickly. Furthermore, the agencies use events as a tool of the attraction of people and companies
showing that the region is a viable place to live. The trend observed is that events make an
interconnection of the individuals with the community and it is a very good idea to connect
communities through art. Therefore, three recommendation are the key to the success of the cities
in the southwest of Iowa. First, it is mandatory to stimulate partnership between communities
among arts groups, communities, and organization. Consequently, the events can turn into a
potential tool to offer a cultural education for the community and create a program of school based
art education for the residents. Second, the civic engagement of the community is an important
strategy to achieve the results. When the community works together, it makes the difference for
the future, based on the developing knowledge, skills, and values to promote the quality of life.
Finally, developing and build an environment audience is a key to reach and involve more citizens

half of the land where Nero s house was, to create a public park for the people of Rome to use and

The Exodus Research Paper
The date of the Exodus was an extremely interesting topic and has lead me to further research

paper. The problem on deciding details of the Exodus comes not just with disagreement on dates,
but also with lack of harmony amongst several scholars about the facts of Egyptian history. To

better understanding of Egyptian history, and the discrepancies in between.
Biblical Context
The Israelites came to Egypt through a man named Joseph, and his story can be found at the end
of Genesis in chapters 37 50. He was a famous man in the land of Egypt, and was a friend to the
Pharaoh, or king. Genesis 41:41 45 says:

scrawny and wimpy or sometimes chubby guys that may come to mind. What purpose does your
average geek serve to society? Beyond the fact of knowledge some may find useless, making great
group partners (carrying the majority of group workload), and being the butt end of endless jokes
and bullying, what importance do they hold? Society yells without speaking that we need more
men compared to nerds and geeks. It s something about being intelligent, awkward, and the
complete opposite of your typical ladies manthat challenges the perception of masculinityto society.
Over time, media has played a part in shaping our depiction and understanding of males ... Show

Media places the belief that anything that challenges masculinity or goes against the ideal
masculinity is in fact not masculine at all. This creates the belief that anything associated with
femininity is not to be associated with masculinity. Society teaches boys that showing emotion is
for girls, not always being tough makes you weak and less of man, and that certain feelings,
ideas, and activities are off limits because they aren t deemed manly enough. What society is
really teaching our boys and men is that being yourself is never okay or enough if it anything
outside of the set masculine norm. We create an entire gender to be what is expected of them and
never their true selves, damaging their self identity before it can begin to

Schizophrenia Case Study Catatonia
Jerry is a 24 year old male patient that has been displaying abnormal behavior for over half a year.
His symptoms have caused him to be out of work and the inability to care for himself. Some of the
symptoms he is experiencing is constant loneliness, disorganized speech, and hallucinations. Also,
he shows little emotion except for sporadic inappropriate emotional outburst, but he is still willing
to be cooperative with those around him. Jerry has even been seen making odd facial expressions
such as grimacing. It is also mentioned he collects used toothpicks that he rearranges in no
significant fashion. Though, he resorts to meaninglessly pacing his room when he chooses not to
arrange his toothpicks. Which leads me to believe that Jerry suffers from Schizophrenia with

Rhetorical Analysis Of While We Sleep
Since the beginning of time, those not classified as men have faced many struggles. This wide
group ranges anywhere from children to women. The working boom in America is one of many
factors that is accountable for the limitations these groups face. These powerless groups did not
have enough voice, originally, to demand equal treatment under the law and society. Therefore,
many reform groups arose during American history to encourage society to call to action the
freedom we all enjoy and protect today. In her speech given before the National American Women
Suffrage Association in Philadelphia, Florence Kelly utilizes anaphora, rhetorical questions, an
empathetic yet sarcastic tone, and selection of detail to emphasize unfairness in working conditions
for children and to encourage her audience to take feminist action. Kelly effectively uses anaphora
throughout her speech with the purpose of getting her audience to bring about change. The
repetition of the phrase While we sleep stresses the unethical conditions these voiceless children
had to face. Every time this phrase is stated, it builds up her impact and works the audience
towards her advantage. Kelly appeals to her audience s empathetic emotions and moral values by
utilizing the importance of sleep. Her listeners understand the vitality of sleep, thus stressing that
these children lack this, brings her a huge step forward. She forces her audience to face the sad
reality that they peacefully sleep, as young children

How Did Yahweh Not Punish David
1 Samuel 15 2 Samuel 8: Question 2: What questions did I have For Davis project part two I
learned a lot, but I also have many questions. One of my questions is what happened to Samuel?
Meaning how did Samuel die? Did he just die of old age or did Saul kill him? Another question I
have is why was I always told King Saulwas a good king he really was not a good king? In Sunday
school my teaches always said good things about King Saul, but after reading Davis I do not think
King Saul was a good king. In fact, I think King Saul was a terrible king for the kingdom of God.
My final question I have is why did Yahweh take so long to make Davidking? Why did Yahweh not
kill of King Saul right away? Why did he wait so long so Saul to die so David could be the king of
Yahweh s people?

My first question is why did Yahweh not punish David more severely? I would think that since
David broke one of the ten commandments that he would be sentenced to death by Yahweh.
Why did Yahweh not turn his back on David like he did for Saul? Saul and David both sinned,
yet David still has Yahweh on his side. Another question I have is why did Yahweh take David s
wives and son as David s punishment instead of the kingdom? I would also like to know why
Absalom is so angry with Amnon even though Absalom told Amnon to get with Tamar? My final
question I have regarding this section is why did Yahweh not step in and tell David to restore
Tamar and punish Absalom and Amnon for the sin they

Comparing Valentine s Day And The Lottery
Valentine s Day Although about 50% of Americans decide not to celebrate Valentine s Day, but
that doesn t stop those who do from spending a total of $19 billion annually (Valentine s Day
Statistics and Trends)! This statistic is from 2016 and the amount spent was an all time high.
Known to almost everyone, Valentine s Day is celebrated on February 14th and is considered the
day dedicated to love. So why do so many people still celebrate this day and how has it evolved
into the day of love from previously honoring the death of a couple of men? It has become a
tradition, much like the lottery has become a tradition in the story, The Lottery. Valentine s Day is a

The events that you take part in with your loved ones are to be cherished forever. Valentine s
Day is supposed to reignite the spark between relationships and remind individuals of their
feelings. In The Lottery when someone pulls the slip with a black dot on it, each of their family
members is required to pull another slip of paper, including children, and whichever family
member draws the slip with a black dot is then put in the town square and stoned by the villagers.
The whole town is forced to show up unless they physically can t. A man named Clyde Dunbar
broke his leg and wasn t able to draw for his family and his son wasn t eighteen yet, so Mrs.
Dunbar had to draw for her family. Once roll call is taken, the present leader of the household
draws a slip of paper from a black box for their family (Jackson). In this village, the people are
given satisfaction once the person is stoned because they are relieved the tradition continued, but
in reality the emotion has changed. The explanation of Valentine s Day history matched with the
analysis of The Lottery gives a clear idea that tradition either changes or simply ends. The
tradition of The Lottery has lost its importance. The Valentine s Day holiday, even though it has
changed its purpose, will be relevant for many years to come as it shows the importance of love,
appreciation of loved ones, and the giving of

Racism In Trethewey s Native Guard
In Trethewey s Native Guard, graves symbolize of the futility of mankind s efforts to conceal its
evils, and of failure to combat the racist system put in place by white America. For years,
Trethewey s mother fought to protect her daughter from the hatred and prejudice in America.
Her protest against the hatred of America was snuffed out by abusive partners and the nascent
racism of America. In the poem Graveyard Blues, she describes the atmosphere of the graveyard
as blues y and dreary. She wander[s] now among names of the dead: My mother s name, stone
pillow for my head, her mother s name now only a marker of her lifetime of suffering. Not only a
problem in Trethewey s time, racism and inherent discrimination was an issue for even the African
American heroes of the Civil War, the Native Guard receive no recognition from the historians of
the fort or the Daughters of the Confederacy. In the poem Elegy for the Native Guards, Trethewey
states that there are no names carved for the Native Guards 2nd Regiment, Union men, black
phalanx. What is monument to their legacy? They receive no honorable grave. They receive the
most barbaric of burial rites, doomed to have fish dart among their bones. The bodies of the native
guard are cast out of sight into the ocean, neglected in an attempt to forget the evils committed
against them. Their forgotten and neglected grave symbolizes the futility of fighting against the
racism of America, as well as the futility in concealing

Coors Brewing Company Executive Summary
Subject: Business Strategy
Executive Summary:
Throughout most of its history, the Coors Brewing Company (Coors) has been a regionalized
brewer within the United States, specializing in high quality beer through by virtue of its source
water selection, stringent production standards, and cold filtered brewing approach. As the company
expanded its distribution to new markets within the U.S. in attempt to gain market share, it made a
strategic decision to maintain a majority of its brewing operations at its primary production facility
in Golden, Colorado. This decision was based upon the desire to preserve its core production
strengths through close family control. However, as the company desires to expand its market

Even though their shipping costs were twice the industry s, average shipping costs would have
been much more had they attempted to enter other states. Besides, Coors made up for the
inefficiency with the scale of their plant, the largest in the nation. The location lent itself well to
Coors ability to differentiate its product. For example Coors was brewed using pure Rocky
Mountain spring water. Coors had a great opportunity to serve an underserved geographical
market. Seven of 24 million barrels sold in the region had to be imported from production
facilities outside of the region, and Coors Colorado facility was more central to the area than the
three other closest facilities in Missouri, Texas, and Wisconsin. Coors had the second lowest
production cost per barrel in the industry, in spite of their claim of the most expensive raw material
costs. Their cost advantage stemmed from the industry s highest capacity utilization, economies of
scale through the country s largest brewery, single product focus, and the industry s fastest
packaging lines. Matching their low production cost was the lowest advertising cost relative to the
industry. The mystique that had been built up about Coors and their differentiating, all natural
appeal allowed them to get away with lower advertising costs than average for the industry. Coors
differentiated their product, both in the

The Symbols Of The Jewish Passover
Passover Passover, aka Pesach, is the most spoken about Jewish Holy day. Eighty percent of Jews,
to this day, attend a Seder, according to the 1990 National Jewish Population Survey. Passover is
closely observed by the Jewish people and is one of the most sacred religious holidays because it
serves as a commemoration of the Jews being freed by God from slavery in ancient Egypt and their
freedom as a nation with the help of Moses. One of the most symbolic pieces of Passoveris the
roasted lamb, which serves a memorial to the paschal lamb sacrifice made the night when the
ancient Hebrews fled Egypt. In the Bible, texts such as Leviticus, Exodus, Luke, Mathew, Mark,
and 1 Corinthians mention passover and the key elements to it. These sacred texts also show
what role Jesus played in the Passover. The story/history of Passover goes like this; God
appeared to Moses in the form of a burning bush and said I have surely seen the affliction of my
people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know
their sorrows; Exodus 3:7 10. Therefore, Moses had the word of the Lord to free the Jews from
slavery and take them to the promise land, Canaan. In doing so, the Pharaoh disagreed to letting
them free so God brought upon 10 plagues to the Pharaoh and his land. For the first 9 plagues,
after each one, Pharaoh promised to obey Moses s command and let the Jews free. But Pharaoh
did not keep his word. The 10th plague is the plague that forces

Video Surveillance and the Equipment
Chapter 4 Video Surveillance and the Equipment In England and Europe the use of video
surveillance has been routine for years. It has only started gaining in popularity and use in the
United States in recent years. The technology of video surveillance allows individuals to be
observed without their knowledge in stores, at the ATM, in elevators, in restaurants, in school
hallways, and when stopped by police in patrol cars. The technology used with the video
equipment can now be activated by motion detectors and can tape in color even at night. It has
been said one of the reasons the use of video surveillance cameras has become so rampant is the
cameras are shrinking making it much easier to hide. Video cameras are so small they can even...

A closed circuit television system can consists of a single camera and one monitor or it can have
hundreds of cameras, multiple operators, and digital recorders. They can provide security to
any type of business, with very few exceptions. If your business is equipped with a good closed
circuit television system, not only will your business be safer, but it will also be more efficient
and less prone to theft and accidents. Just the basic closed circuit television system setup, which
includes a single camera connected to a monitor and recorder is sufficient enough for some
businesses. However it is not a large enough system for most businesses. Most require multiple
cameras and some may want a movable camera to cover large areas. Before you start shopping
and pricing a close circuit television system for your business, you will need to sit down and
consider your surveillance needs. One of the first questions you will want to ask yourself, is
what do I want to monitor? Do you want to monitor the comings and goings? Or do you want to
monitor the vehicles in your parking lot or of the visitors? Do you want to monitor faces,
merchandise or even crowds? Once you have determined what you want to monitor choosing
components for your system will be easier. Next you will want to decide on the quality of picture
you need. For instance the lower the resolution and slower frame rates result in a blockier, jerkier
image, but you can

Vibrio Natriegen s Generation Time
Title: Vibrio natriegens s generation time and optimal growth environment using a Closed Growth
System.
Abstract: The objective of this experiment is to find out what the optimal growth environment is
for V. natriegens out of three different environments. The first is a Brain Heart Infusion broth
(BHI) that contains 50 mM of NaCl. The second is BHI containing 250 mM of NaCl. The third is
BHI containing 1000 mM NaCl. In order to obtain this, a growth curve graph must be constructed
for each different environment, and the generation time of the bacteria in each environment must be
calculated. The optimal environment for V. natriegens was found to be the BHI with 250 mM of
NaCl.
Introduction: The type environment that bacteria live ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the y value posted in the upper right hand corner. The following data was obtained from the
Closed System Growth experiment:
As shown in the figure above, it is evident that V.natriegens grew faster when the Brain Heart
Infusion (BHI) broth contained 250mM NaCl. The # of bacterial cells at each time point was
measured following the equation given in the How to generate a bacterial growth curve
supplemental material posted on D2L. (2) The data was then recorded in the table listed above. A
growth curve graph was constructed using the data above which illustrated the differences between
each of the different BHI mixtures. The graph was then used to determine the generation time of
V.natriegens for each different environmental condition. In order to calculate the generation time
(g) the mean growth rate (k) must be calculated. The formula to do this is posted in the
supplemental material How to generate a bacterial growth curve on D2L. The k value calculated
for each condition goes as follows:
At 50 mM NaCl k= 2.2 generations per hour
At 250 mM NaCl k= 4.7 generations per hour
At 1000 mM NaCl k= 3.2 generations per hour
The generation time for each condition goes as follows:
At 50 mM NaCl g= .45 hours per generation
At 250 mM NaCl g= .21 hours per generation
At 1000 mM NaCl g= .31 hours per generation
With all of these calculations the environment that is optimal for V. natriegens was determined.

A Few Good Men By Erich Fromm
During the motion picture A Few Good Men it obscures the inquiry whether disobedience or
obedience is the rational distinction and at what instant does following the orders turn into blind
obedience and submission? Furthermore, the movie complicates this theme by establishing military
culture where disobedience to a higher power invokes dire repercussions. One example in the
motion picture is when United States Marines Lance CorporalHarold Dawson and Private Louden
Downey where instructed by their superiors to give a fellow Marine, Private William Santiago, a
Code Red resulting in Private William Santiago death (A Few Good Men). Moreover, Stanley
Milgram author of Perils of Obedience discussed in the piece the corresponding issue... Show more

Similarly, in Milgram s study, it contends that obedience of an arbitrary test subject, entitled the
teacher , was made subservient to assessing whether or not it was feasible for a human being to
obey regulations that they identified as morally reprehensible. In the experiment the teacher was
commanded by a superior figure, the experimenter , to apply voltage shocks increasing in intensity
all the way up to a fatal shock for incorrect responses (79). Later in the article Milgram points out
that more than half the time the teachers would submit to the orders addressed to them even though
the teachers recognized the actions they were taking were morally wrong. Because of this, it
obscures the subject as to why the teachers were obedient because unlike Lance Corporal Harold
Dawson and Private Louden Downey surrounded by the military culture there are no reverberations
for disobedience for the teachers. As a result of this, Milgram hypothesizes the teacher s obedience
correlated to the fact that the experimenter told the teachers that they would take all the fault if
anything happened to the student (81).п»ї For this reason, it leads the teaches to use scapegoating
to justify their actions which Rob Reiner, director of A Few Good Men , would more than
coincide with. Parallel, Fromm author of Disobedience as a Psychological and Moral Problem
would likewise concur with Milgram s hypothesis and in return state more

Probation For Juveniles
Probation was established for juveniles in the United States in the early 1800 s as a way to give
them the opportunity to be rehabilitated rather than institutionalized. It was opined that if the
practice of incarcerating juveniles with adults, which was the practice of the time, were continued
they would not be given the chance to become productive citizens, but rather given the tools to
become seasoned criminals. The practice of probation for juveniles began in England during the
middle ages. The English way of thinking was that since the King was considered the father to all
his subjects; and must look out for their best interest, he should provide for those who were unable
to take care of themselves, hence the children. This included

Examples Of Globalization In The Movie Lion
Globalization has been presented in almost all of the movies today. In the movie Lion , a big part
that helped the main character find his way was through technology, using media, trade, and
transportation as the main factors. In this film, the producers and directors took a true story about a
little boy s unfortunate mishap that turned around and changed his life. As he went into his
adulthood he used technology and transportation to find where he came from, and through
globalization it abled him to find his way back home.
Throughout the movie the train symbolized the transportation factor of globalization. The train was
there in the beginning when the boy lost his way and, was there at the end when he found it. In the
modern world, trains, planes, cars, and trucks is what we use to travel or transport goods. Yes,
sometimes we can lose our path but transportation also helps us find our way back. Saroo, the

How Is Pearl Justified In The Scarlet Letter
Pearl: The Elf child Generally, the more characters a book has, the more challenging it is for a
writer to create a well organized interaction between book s characters. For this reason, the author
thinks twice before adding a new personality into the story. Thus, for a character to become a part
of the book, his or her existence has to be justified. In other words, a characterhas to earn his place
in the story. There is no doubt that Pearl earns her place in Nathaniel Hawthorne s book The
Scarlet Letter . First of all, she is the illegitimate daughter of Hester Prynne and Arthur
Dimmesdale. Given that Pearl is the only proof of Hester s sin, if the child had never been born,
the scarlet letter would not had been put on Hester s chest.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are other functions that Pearl fulfills, which can be discovered while reading Pearl makes
it obvious to Chillingworth who her father is; she boils Dimmesdale down to a confession and
presumably to the soul purification. One will reject that such a well developed and pure
character as Pearl deserves more that just a role of the connecting link (535) in the electric chain
(534) between Hester and Dimmesdale. Yes, she does; she is eventually rewarded with a
wealthy husband and a beautiful child. She receives a happy, married life overseas. However,
even such a desirable destiny as Pearl s again serves as an example and a moral lesson for a
reader. Hawthorne tells that the origin does not define a person s destiny and that children do not
have to atone for their parents

  • 2. Food and Beverage Control Systems Food and beverage control systems Food and beverage control systems can help you introduce the same financial rigour to your dining establishment or catering company that you ll find in manufacturing operations. What is a food and beverage control system? A food and beverage control system is a means of computerizing best practice within a restaurant or catering operation. It gives managers a better idea of the flow of food through the restaurant, enabling them to plan cash flow and stock control more effectively. At the sharp end, it provides chefs with a more structured way of planning menus, taking into account nutritional and financial considerations. Importance of food and beverage control system In areas like manufacturing, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Creating a database of suppliers and ingredients will enable you to manage ingredient pricing more effectively. Nutrition More applicable for specialist dining establishments (such as those in hospitals) or catering companies, the ability to provide nutritional information on the food you serve can offer you a competitive edge, and reassure customers particularly in areas such as school dinners, for example. Recipe management Many chefs either work from memory without any clear recipe, or have incomplete recipes that they do not follow. Codifying recipes helps you to manage your ingredients more effectively, while building in standard estimates for wastage (such as the yield after peeling and chopping vegetables, or the wastage caused by evaporation and transfer of a cream sauce from bowl to bowl). This will help you to price your food more accurately. If you know exactly what a meal costs to make, you can price it more accurately to undercut the competition while still making a quantifiable profit. When looking at recipe management, consider the ability to nest recipes, because most recipes are made up of multiple others. And a function to scale recipes easily for different quantities will be invaluable for busy chefs. Stock control and purchasing Some food and beverage control systems give you the chance to inventory your food and create purchase orders for more so you can maintain a minimum level of ... • 3. Monkey See Monkey 2 Analysis In the article, Monkey See, Monkey 2: Scientists Clone Monkeys Using Technique that Created Dolly the Sheep, written by Jen Christensen of CNN, explains how scientists have cloned a monkey in China. The article described how using somatic cell transfer, the removing a nucleus from an unfertilized egg and replacing it with with a nucleus from another cell, which is then transplanted into a surrogated mother, scientists were capable of creating a clone of a primate. My position on this experiment is believing animals should not be cloned due to the fact that it can result in many different complications. To start off, cloningis inefficient and a very hazardous procedure. There have been many attempts to clone primates other than humans, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Review of the Montessori Method The Montessori Method Review Paper Lisa Ahlgrim National Louis University Maria Montessori was a visionary woman, passionate about providing quality education to all children. Born in 1870, at a time where few women attended college and were not expected to work in any area other than teaching, Maria grew up determined to become a doctor in spite of society, and even her father s reservations. She was not accepted into the University of Rome, but with her spirit of perseverance, Maria gained the help of Pope Leo XIII to intercede on her behalf. In 1896, she graduated and became the first woman to gain her doctorate in Italy (A Biography of Maria Montessori, n.d.). Maria Montessori brought her passion and education as a doctor ... Maria also believed that the didactic materials used by children should have a specific purpose in mind and should enable the child to exercise their senses in order for the child to be engaged in their learning (Montessori, 1912, p. 169). Furniture in the classroom was also meant to be child sized so that the child could fully explore their environment and make it their own (Montessori, 1912, p. 82). Maria Montessori s book gives a picture of her passion for children and to help them learn the way she perceived that they were meant to. By having the opportunity to read her original work afforded me the opportunity to understand her philosophies more clearly. I agree that her ideas have an important place in education today and see that she tips the scale in child and teacher led activities to be led by children in order for those activities to be more relevant to the child as well as having a greater impact on their learning. I appreciate her use of didactic materials that are designed to be practical and that her activities and play are focused as closely to real life and community as possible. This allows the child to truly prepare for life beyond the classroom. In Maria s opinion on the role and training of her teachers, while I understand her desire to start teachers ... • 5. Essay Comparing The Book Of Job And Aesop s Fables The Book of Job and Aesop s Fables, despite their stark differences in characters, style, and rhetoric, both share similar themes, including love, loss, and the importance of lending a helping hand. The Shepard and the Lion, demonstrates how imperative it is to take the time to assist others. In the fable, the Shepard removes a thorn from the lion s paw. Later on the Shepard was falsely accused of a crime and at the next public games...thrown to beasts, (p.626). However, the lion recognizes the Shepard and in the end, the lion is spared and the man set free. When one takes time to helps those in need, it is likely that others will be willing to do the same when you are in need. Although, this lesson is not plainly stated in the Book of Job, the actions of Job indicate the importance of helping others, even if they seem undeserving.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The men conclude, Job must have committed an act(s) worthy of punishment. Zophar the Naamathite, implies Job is deserving of a punishment greater than what he has received, (11:1 12). Once God spoke to Job, he asked that Job pray for his friends (p.217), Job obliged. Rather than condemn his friends, as they did to him, Job prayed for them, hinting that he cares about them, as well as validating his selflessness. Even though Job lost everything, including his home, family, and health, he continues to love and worship God. Love, is not as prominent of a theme in the fables analyzed for the course, nevertheless, in The Wolf in Sheep s Clothing, one possible lesson is, love yourself as you are and do not try to be someone that you are not. However, a strong theme seen throughout both is loss or rather the idea that one has to lose everything in order to appreciate what you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Research Paper On Constructivism Constructivism: A Review Abstract Constructivism is an all encompassing theory of learning that emerged as a prevailing paradigm in the last part of the twentieth century. Constructivism is a theory which brings cogitation to pedagogy (Bruner, 1966). Constructivism capitalizes on the ways in which human beings create their own personal construct of reality by understanding and experiencing the world. The cornerstone of constructivism is that constructing personal meaning is ingrained in individuals right from the birth (Vygotsky, 1978). The Overview Constructivist approach explains the ways in which learners make their own personal senses of learning tasks, the environment, the teacher, and the actual process of learning (Vygotsky, 1962). Social constructivism adopts its stance as internationalist perspective operating within social context. Learners are actively involved in the process of learning shaping their experiences about the world by other significant people (Vygotsky, 1962). 3 Constructivism is part of educational psychology which places the learner at the central focus. Learner learns by interacting in a social context of teacher and text. Each individual learner is sui generis, no two learners are the same. The ways they view the world are not the same. Learners bring these differences to the learning situation. Teachers must be cognizant of these differences. Furthermore no two teachers and teaching situations are ever the same. Like students, teachers should become self aware of their beliefs and attitude to the teaching and learning and make their own contributions to the learner as the situations arise (Williams and Burden, 1997). While learners are interacting with the task beforehand, teachers are required to take the learners response to the tasks to see if they are appropriate to their levels of developments congruent ... To help with the implementation of training, two new positions will be created at the district level: Lead Facilitator of DCP and Digital Resource Teacher on Assignment. The Lead Facilitator position s salary would be $69,000 for 12 month position and the TOA salary would be $39,000 for 10 month position. These positions would oversee training during professional development and troubleshooting issues with Canvas and other digital tools being used by the district. These costs would be similar to the current cost already being spent on Sharepointe and Moodle, which will be eliminated after Canvas has been purchased. The two new positions are being paid through a grant through the State of Florida for implementing a Digital Classroom Plan and would not be added to the district s current budget. The overall management of the plan would be overseen and tracked by the Director of Technology Services. This project is a real life scenario, and is being considered by Volusia County School District. Currently, the district is using the free access to look at the features of Canvas. • 8. Using A Handheld Portable Gas Detector Weighting Up One of the main challenges in this effort is how to autonomously operate multiple sensors for oxygen monitoring and to replace the existing technology which is based on a handheld portable gas detector weighting up to 5lbs and placed in the belt or waistband of the worker. Our innovative design is based on converting wasted mechanical energy from the movement of the worker to useful amount of energy by using the piezoelectric transduction mechanism. Depending on the movement of the worker and the performed tasks, two possible piezoelectric energy harvestingsystems can be designed. The first one will be composed of a flexible piezoelectric layer attached on the top of an aluminum sheet and directly attached to the skin of the worker as a band, as shown in Fig. 2(a). As for the second design of the energy harvester shown in Fig. 2(b), it will be based on the available excitation motion of the worker. This harvester will be efficient when the resonance phenomenon takes place. This harvester will be integrated in the clothes of the worker. As for the second design, low frequency excitations are present due to the worker s motion including walking and contraction and expansion of his muscles. These low excitation motion can provide viable amounts of wasted mechanical energy that can be converted to power many critical devices including sensors for oxygen monitoring, pacemakers, defibrillators, cell phones, and wireless sensors and actuators. The Roman Catholic Church in Medieval Times Essay In the Medieval times, the Roman Catholic Church played a great role in the development of England and had much more power than the Church of today does. In Medieval England, the Roman Catholic Church dominated everyday life and controlled everyone whether it is knights, peasants or kings. The Church was one of the most influential institutions in all of Medieval England and played a large role in education and religion. The Church s power was so great that they could order and control knights and sends them to battle whenever they wished to. As the tenth century rolled about, the power of the Roman Catholic Church grew steadily stronger, the church had an argument with the normal Kingdom over who should rule supreme out of the Pope or the King, the church believed that the Pope who is the voice of God on Earth should be the ruler of the world while the peasants thought that the King should, the power struggle eventually ended with the Church coming out as the dominant force in the West. The Church passed a law that stated that everyone (mostly peasants) is forced to pay 10% of their income to the Church. The church had the ability to stop any laws that they did not like or make some new laws that benefited them, they were a very powerful group that could manipulate the peasants and knights in any way they liked, in Church there were photos of people being tortured in hell, this intensified the peoples longing for heaven and therefore extended the power and influence of the church. All Christians were expected to attend the mass and, by the 13th century, were expected to take the Eucharist at least once a year. Philosophyis used for the betterment of the world, gender, race, civilization, town, state, country, etc. But in order to practice philosophy you need parrhesia and you need philosophy to practice parrhesia, they come hand in hand with each other. This becomes the soul of his progression to learning about true knowledge as this is a pure display of ignorance, A pretense of ignorance and of willingness to learn from another assumed in order to make the other s false conception conspicuous by adroit reasoning (Vlastos 2). This will be later and formally known as Socratic irony. Socrates goes on to develop criteria necessary for such knowledge which drives onto the ethics of life, or the proper way on behaving. According to Socrates the criteria is to determine whether something is right or wrong and that one shouldn t concern themselves with the outcome but whether the act was just or unjust, which brings morality into the picture. Socrates believed that in order for morality to exist depended on whether one had knowledge of such definitions. So in essence, virtue is knowledge, if you know what is right, you will do what is right. The necessity and sufficiency for moral behavior hinged upon knowing a Socratic definition. This in the end depicts to us the difference between a life lived with pleasure or utilitarian goals, a life lived honorably. So in reality to practice philosophy is to practice for dying and death, which is the separation of body and soul. The soul referring to matters of ideas and intellect and body to material matters. It is only a prototype however, and the company still wants to come up with ways to improve it by either adding or removing features from it. A marketing strategy was discussed and agreed on in which we launched a marketing web campaign on Facebook and WeChat to use the feedback of the participants in order to make changes to the prototype as we see fit. Happiness: Happiness focuses on information points like user surveys, where users tell you how much they like the product. Engagement: Level of user involvement, typically measured via behavioral proxies such as frequency, intensity, or depth of interaction over some time period. Adoption: New users of a site or app. Most users just try a new feature because it is new, instead of having an inherent goal to adopt it because it is good. Hence it is important to understand the actual product and what constitutes success by understanding how the user flow works from a design pattern standpoint. Retention: The rate at which existing users are returning. That means customers are interested in this site or app. Task Success: Traditional behavioral metrics of user experience, such as efficiency (e.g. time to complete a task), effectiveness (e.g. percent of tasks completed), and error rate. This category is most applicable to areas of your product that are very task focused, such as search or an upload flow. In this special project, not every kind was corresponding to use. And how clear and bright the color is, is very important to the interpretation, because a bright color means something very different than a dull color. • 15. The Adoption Of Electronic Health Records According to a survey from SK A, after an initial migration to health IT solutions, practice owners adoption of electronic health records (EHR) has plateaued with only about a 2.8% increase from January 2014 to January 2015. The survey found that overall adoption by physicians is 62.8%, and that, in general, the larger the practice, the (not surprisingly) higher the adoption rates, with 77.2% of docs at medical groups of 25 or more members using EHRs this is compared to only 54.5% of solo practitioners adopting the technology. Why the Drop in Adoption Rates? Other survey findings clearly illustrate the fact that while EHRs do come with benefits, most are not embraced by physicians because of their lack of functionality and difficulty of use. According to this survey , overall provider satisfaction with EHRs has declined by almost 30% over the past five years. Conducted by the American Medical Association and American EHR Partners, the survey questioned 940 practice owners about their level of satisfaction with their EHR. What was interesting right off the bat about these findings was that only 34% of physicians said they were satisfied or very satisfied with their EHR systems compared to 61% of respondents who were satisfied only five years ago. The survey also found: 42% of physicians described their EHR s ability to improve efficiency as difficult or very difficult. 43% said they were consistently challenged with their EHR s ability to address productivity. ... There are several steps to this process and each step requires materials a common household would not have. The materials needed include several microfiber towels, glass cleaner, show shine, interior cleaner, spray bottles, steel wool, vacuum cleaner with extendable hose, a water hose and /or a power washer, car wax, and paint thinner. Making a car spick and span after it has been repaired is not necessarily a complex process, but it does have several steps that a common person would not think about. The first step to washinga vehicle is to check it over and make sure everything that was supposed to be fixed is. The easy way to see which parts were replaced is to feel around the car and find the fresh paint. Fresh paint feels much smoother than the paint on the original parts of the car. Finding the replaced parts is important because around those parts are where the rubbing compound leftover from the buffer and the overspray leftover from the painter will be located. Rubbing compound is what buffers put on the car before they start buffing so that the buffer itself won t scratch the vehicle. When buffing the white compound will often get lodged in the small crevices of car, like in the crack between the headlight and car or the bumper and the back quarter panel. Overspray is a white and rough substance left on the car from the painters. It can be easily seen on darker color cars, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There were a couple boys Trina wanted to hang out with (thirteen year old Brian Harvey and six year old Derrick Harvey), but the boy s mom (Sylvia Harvey) would not allow it. Out of anger, Trina had started a firein the boy s house when she was around fourteen years of age. That fire had gotten out of control and ended up killing the two young boys Trina so desperately wanted to hang out with. Trina ended up in the court system charged with murder. The court was a slow and horrific process, especially with the lack of support Trina had, her lawyer did not have any intentions of fighting for her rights and safety. Trina ended up being sentenced to two life terms plus forty years, that is a total of ninety years. The events that happen in our lives have so many effects on our view of the world. While I was reading the article Throwaway People by Liliana Segura, I had many emotions running through my mind, such as anger, sadness, disgust, and hope. The reason I felt this way is because of the things and events that have shaped my view of life and the world. Anytime I would get into trouble or do something impulsive, my father would preach to me about walking away, or thinking before you act. • 22. What Are The Strengths And Weaknesses Of Human Greed Human greed s and Weaknesses Human Activities 1)Natural Defences Plants and geologic features make up an ever present natural defines against flooding. Grasses, shrubs and trees help keep healthy topsoil in place to absorb excess rainfall, and extensive root systems can absorb some excess water before it overwhelms a region. Naturally occurring waterways, flood plains and wetlands all serve as safety valves for floods, drawing high waters away and dispersing them safely. Unfortunately, human activities can disrupt both of these systems, increasing the likelihood and severity of floods. 2)Agriculture and Deforestation Large scale agricultural operations can deplete topsoil, reducing the amount of nutrients present and degrading its quality. This can lead to a weakening of the surrounding plant life, reducing its ability to protect against floods. Similarly, deforestation can remove the anchors keeping rich soil in place, allowing it to wash away and leaving dry, dusty soil in its place ill suited to absorbing heavy rainfall. This increases the amount of water that washes into rivers and streams, adding to the volume that passes through the water system and causing floods. 3)Human Development Rural and urban ... This time period also introduced the rise of humanism. It brought into the picture a very optimistic view of humanity. This was shown especially in the work The Ascent of Mont Ventouxby Francesco Petrarch. This work refers back to Book X of Confessions by Saint Augustine when Petrarch reaches the top of the mountain. Although they are both dealing with the same passage, Petrarch and Augustine seem to interpret it in very different ways. Petrarch wrote the Ascent of Mont Ventoux as a young man. It is a letter to his former confessor, Dionigi di Borgo San Sepolcro, because he was in seminary school. The letter is essentially a travel journal about his journey up Mont Ventoux. Petrarch initially wanted to take this journey with his friends, but they either refused or were not up to his standards. He decide to just climb the mountain with his brother. At the beginning of the journey, Petrarch writes about his encounter with an old, cranky man in the foothills of the mountain. Acceptance sampling is a process of taking a random sample or portion of a batch and deciding whether to accept or reject the whole batch. SPC is a process that uses samples to determine whether a process is functioning normally or not (Ryan, 2011). Acceptance sampling determines whether an entire batch produced should be accepted or rejected after the goods have been produced. However, SPC tracks the process to ensure it is functioning properly for a given period. These tools can be used together effectively. Traditional statistical tools are used as inputs into SPC, which is updated frequently enough to ensure that quality problems are identified in good time. Finally, after a batch has been produced, acceptance sampling is used to determine whether the batch is of good quality or not. The statistical process control Statistical process control is a technique of controlling, monitoring, and improving processes via statistical analysis. The philosophy behind this tool holds that ... Consistent with the creative class, promoting art and culture based on the art tour is a suitable idea to help the southwest Iowa communities to grow. In addition, it also promotes the region encouraging people to visit and moved to the following cities. According to Zachary Mannheimer, the director of the Des Moines Social Club, if the city wants to stimulate the economic growth, it should invest in the arts rather than get started in the jobs, this investment will make small communities achieve optimum results quickly. Furthermore, the agencies use events as a tool of the attraction of people and companies showing that the region is a viable place to live. The trend observed is that events make an interconnection of the individuals with the community and it is a very good idea to connect communities through art. Therefore, three recommendation are the key to the success of the cities in the southwest of Iowa. First, it is mandatory to stimulate partnership between communities among arts groups, communities, and organization. Consequently, the events can turn into a potential tool to offer a cultural education for the community and create a program of school based art education for the residents. Second, the civic engagement of the community is an important strategy to achieve the results. When the community works together, it makes the difference for the future, based on the developing knowledge, skills, and values to promote the quality of life. One example in the motion picture is when United States Marines Lance CorporalHarold Dawson and Private Louden Downey where instructed by their superiors to give a fellow Marine, Private William Santiago, a Code Red resulting in Private William Santiago death (A Few Good Men). Later in the article Milgram points out that more than half the time the teachers would submit to the orders addressed to them even though the teachers recognized the actions they were taking were morally wrong. Because of this, it obscures the subject as to why the teachers were obedient because unlike Lance Corporal Harold Dawson and Private Louden Downey surrounded by the military culture there are no reverberations for disobedience for the teachers. As a result of this, Milgram hypothesizes the teacher s obedience correlated to the fact that the experimenter told the teachers that they would take all the fault if anything happened to the student (81).п»ї For this reason, it leads the teaches to use scapegoating to justify their actions which Rob Reiner, director of A Few Good Men , would more than coincide with.
