2. Female Sexuality In Aphra Behn s, Northanger Abbey
The notions of female sexuality and social status differ significantly, from the
eighteenth century to today. Writers have always been breaking gender stereotypes
through their literary work; for example the seventeenth century satire, A Thousand
Martyrs I have made, by Aphra Behn s, Jane Austen s, Northanger Abbey and the
twenty first century manga, The Ghost in the Shell, by Masamune Shirow. These
pieces of literature attempt to change the power dynamic of femalesexuality in
society. These authors use their characters to influence different ideologies on what
it means to be female, for example, Behn s poem uses a male voice with the
perspective of a woman, Austen mocks the typical female gothic narrative with her
character Catherine,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main character Major Motoko Kusanagi, is defined as far from the damsel in
distress image, rather she is powerful and self sufficient among her male peers.
When Makoto loses control of the situation, she does not turn for help from her
male peer, instead she take responsibility for herself. Motoko Kusanagi, is a
futuristic humanoid cop who is created fabricated by organic and artificial
material. Makoto breaks traditional stereotype of gender roles because her creators
gave her cybernetic female gender modification with prominent full breast and
female genitalia but she lacks reproductive organs. She lack reproductive organs
because she can not procreate and reproduce a new species. What defines her
traditionally as female and being able to bear children, is taken away. Her function
as a woman is not focused solely on being a mother and wife. Shirow keeps Makoto
s gender neutral, he breaks the stereotypes of what is male and what is female
because he lets his hero be defined by her power instead of gender. Shirow prefers
his cyborg hero to represent her own individual personality, that is free from gender
roles and that moves away from what is acceptable in a female body. Makoto flaunts
her sexuality openly and breaks previous conventional stereotypes about females
being sexually free to express themselves. She is
3. The United States Postal Service Vs. Theu.s.
The United States Postal Service Versus the United States Army
The United States (U.S.) Army and the United States Postal Service (USPS) are
both great organizations to work for. The USPS delivers mail to virtually every
household and business nearly every day. The USPS handbook states that the
organization processes and delivers more than 167 billion pieces of mail, letters,
cards, ads, bills payments, and packages every year (Sales and Associate Handbook 1
1). On the other hand, the Army s mission is to support and defend the Constitution
of the United States. The Army also helps with natural disasters, providing security for
events. Both government occupations provide great benefits, job security, and little
training. The two jobs are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Unlike the Army, the Unites States Postal Service does not provide any physical
fitness guidance to employees nor does it require employees to conduct physical
fitness training. Dennis Damp states in his book, Post Office Jobs, Employees
must be in suitable shape to complete tasks in a timely manner (30). Damp also
says, Employees must collect and deliver mail and walk routes that require
prolonged standing, walking, reaching, and have the ability to lift 70 pounds (38).
Employees are also required to carry a mail bag, weighing as much as thirty five
pounds (Damp 38). The employees at both jobs may be injured or seriously hurt if
not in suitable shape for the job, because they both require strenuous exercise.
There are differences between the USPS and the Army, notably regarding the overall
stress levels. When working for the USPS, the employees are faced with many
stressors throughout the day. The Safety Talks Publication states, Employees have the
stress of delivering mail in a timely and efficient manner, while dealing with weather
conditions, stray animals, and disgruntled customers (256). According to the
database, Promoting Sun Safety Among Letter Carriers, Outdoor carriers have a
higher chance of developing skin cancer because employees receive six to eight
times more UVR (559). The Field Accounting Procedures Handbook states,
4. The Hurricane Movie Essay
Norman Jewison s Movie The Hurricane
The problem of racial discrimination has been portrayed in many films in the last 15
years. However, The Hurricane does a masterful job at addressing this issue, and will
leave audience members clenching their fists in anger at the injustice that happened
to a man named Rubin Hurricane Carter. The movie demonstrates the racial inequity
that can be found in our judicial system through the impressive acting by Denzel
Washington and the direction of Norman Jewison. The Hurricane makes you wonder
who else has been wrongfully accused in the past 30 years.
The Hurricane creates moments of amazing heartfelt punches dealt by Denzel
Washington (Rubin Hurricane Carter), Vicellous Reon Shannon (Lezra... Show more

He then pores over documents about his case and compiles them into a book. The
manuscript then lands in the hands of Lezra Martin. Moved by Rubin s words, Lezra
makes it his mission and the mission of his three Canadian friends to bring justice for
the Hurricane .
At his weakest hour Rubin finds hope via these four newfound friends. Through the
support of the Canadians along with the legal work of two volunteer lawyers they
take Rubin s case to the New Jersey Supreme Court. After 20 years, of wrongful
imprisonment, Rubin Hurricane Carter is restored.
The film s powerful message comes alive through its main actor s magnificent
performances and the anger and frustration that they evoke. In particular, Denzel
Washington proved this throughout the film with his representation of Rubin
Carter. He is known for films and works such as: Glory, The Pelican Brief,
Philadelphia, Courage Under Fire, and a new must see release Remember the
Titans. The Hurricane is no exception for his list of stellar performances. However,
aside from Denzel Washington s stunning portrayal, the other actors are one sided
and faceless. Vincent Della Pesca (Dan Hedaya) establishes himself throughout the
film as an evil presence with an insane desire to put Rubin behind bars. His
motivation is left to the imagination of the audience. This antagonist appears to be
self motivated without any clear sense of
5. The Genre of Southern Gothic in A Good Man Is Hard to...
When you cross the sweeping drama of romance with the macabre isolation of small
town life and then throw in a touch of Southern whimsy you ve cooked up a
collection of American literature absolutely unique in time, place, and sentiment,
Southern gothic. Southern gothic comes from the genre of gothic fiction, and has
some type of supernatural or unusual events in it. It is characterized as having a
grotesque quality yet still having enough good in it to keep readers interested. The
short story, A Good Man is Hard to Find by Mary Flannery O Connor, is often
considered a perfect example of Southern gothicwriting. In A Good Man is Hard to
Find , O Connor has characters typical of Southern gothic. Characters in this genre are

actions and is consistent in his morality, unlike the grandmother. He commits crimes,
though does so believing that they are right and they do not matter. The main
characters all come in contact with one another when the grandmother and her
family are driving for a vacation in Florida, they get in a car accident and encounter
the Misfit. They live in Georgia and the day before they left the grandmother was
reading about the Misfit and trying to talk the family into going to Tennessee instead
so that they would not chance being around him. The grandmother really wants to go
to Tennessee to see her friends, but the dramatic irony of them actually meeting the
Misfit and the situation they get in, is another typical characteristic of Southern
writing. The situational irony of the grandmother becoming a good, enlightened
person after the short conversation she has with the Misfit in the story also shows
how it is in the genre of southern gothic. She reaches out to him, after realizing that
she is a sinner, and tries to redeem herself. She dies with a smile on her face because

6. Jonathan Swift Comparison
Aldous Huxley and Jonathan Swift both have a different way of bringing society s
attention to the real problems of the world. Both authors utilize the New Historicism
lense as an influence to each of their pieces of literature. From 1729 to 1932, there
were plenty of historical conflicts that could help each author make society want to
change the current problems that they were facing. In 1932, Huxley satirizes the
sexual freedom and moral decay of the
Roaring 20s in Brave New World. In 1729, Swift satirizes the rising problem of
overpopulation in Ireland in his short story, A Modest Proposal . Over population
resulted in a great famine and it affected most of the people living in Ireland. A
popular theory about overpopulation by
Thomas Malthus influenced Swift s short story and Huxley might have used it to
contribute to his novel.
In Brave New World, there were many historical commonalities that could have
potentially inspired Huxley. Huxley wrote Brave New World following the Roaring
20s and during this time period, jazz music was making its debut and people viewed
it as sexual music.
Although Huxley was very cautious and often chose to stay away from ideologies, he
used Brave
New World to satirize how the citizens threw out relationships and exchanged them
for sex.
Characters forgot their morals and viewed sex as recreational instead of
reproductive. Jazz music was very influential and one very vital instrument to jazz
music is the saxophone. In Brave New

7. My Interviews About the Game of Soccer Essay
I decided to conduct my Field Assignment Interviews at a park near where I live.
The park is Pacific Hills Park, the park has many different features, such as a soccer
field, jungle gyms and people come and walk their dogs. I decided to ask questions
during a few different soccer games over the weekend. The reason I choose the
park is because it s close to my house and there are always soccer games in the park.
I don t know too much about soccer and wanted to get some information about the
soccer experience.

interesting assignment and gave me some tips in some other questions I may want
to ask as well. They all were kind and wished me luck in the class.
The lesson I learned from the assignment was to make sure to be prepared before
going up to someone and start asking them questions. This is true in the business
world as well. You have to make sure you are prepared in meetings and conference
calls in order to conduct business. If I was to just wing it and walk up to these
people without having and introduction they probably would not have giving me
the time of day. I have to say that I did have to be patient and listen. I have a
tendency to interrupt people before they are done talking, which is not a good or
polite thing to do. What I learned from our reading in chapter two this week is that
good listeners are liked by others because they satisfy the basic human needs of being
heard. The listening factor for this assignment was listening for information in search
of facts about the questions that I was presenting to them.
When I was finish I was learned that I wasn t embarrassed to talk to people that I
didn t know. Going into this assignment I thought I would have anxiety because I

Canonical Criteria The purpose of this essay is to discuss and give some explanation
and knowledge of the elements and relevant information as it relates to the Canonical
Criteria. The Biblical canon that we find in Jewish Christian are listed in and
throughout the various books in the Bible. They are recognized as being inspired by
God which makes them sacred. They are very profound and valid to the particular
religion or community group of believers as it pertains to their faith and livelihood
in the Kingdom of God. The word canon is derived from the Greek word (kanon)

Even though the authenticity has been challenged even rejected by many Biblical
critics and scholars. It would and could be a possibility of proving that the canon
were written by apostles. The second is the orthodoxy. This would go without
saying that any canonical book must be orthodox because God would not permit his
word to teach falsehood but only the truth. The positive or strengths would be that
the criterion had to be orthodox or they would be disregard and not worth and
disqualified material by this application of whether or not it was orthodox. The
negative or weakness would be that anything that would violate the orthodox would
not be viewed as a canonical. This was demonstrated in the early church and they did
not handle the criterion easily because of their lack of wanting to acknowledge the
Hebrews and the reservation about Revelations (Nicole, 1997).
The third is the christocentricity which Martin Luther describes as Jesus Christ being
the center of the entire book of the Bible. The positive or strength is that there is
truth about Jesus Christ being the center of the Bible. The negative or weakness is
that the principle that was used in the connection with other criteria such as
apostolicity. The fourth is the inspiration because the canonical books are inspired by
God, some authors like Laird Harris feel that is the real criterion to be implemented.

9. Character Analysis Of Jimmy Tock In Life Expectancy By...
There are many professions in life to work in. There is business, construction, and
entertainment just to name a few. Sometimes, a profession reflects the person who
is working in it. In the book Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz the main character,
Jimmy Tock, is a Baker. Jimmy Tock considers himself a lummox, not in the sense
of being stupid but just being large. It is part of his character that factors into his
personality. Usually big, husky people are seen as being more aggressive or more
arrogant due to their large overpowering size. However, Jimmy Tock is far from this.
He is like a kind giant who is patient and caring. And being a baker, his view on life
and certain situations are very different than most people. What I mean by this is
that a baker s life is different than most of ours. In this case, Jimmy is part of a
family bakingbusiness, so he s not working in a large factory or large restaurant. He
works at their own bakery which is owned by his dad Rudy Tock. An average day for
a baker, specifically Jimmy Tock, starts bright and early at 4:00 A.M. so they can get
to the bakery and start preparing the day s bakery products by 5am. Usually their first
job of the day is to sanitise the kitchen area and prepare the dough to make the baked
goods like breadand buns. They then get their inventory in check to make sure they
are ready for the day. Once that s done, the Bakers can begin to mix the ingredients
needed for the products. Baking generally begins at 7am.

the point that humanity should not live under a curse (William Faulkner Nobel prize

makes the claim that if humanity does not relearn and rebuild what was once there

There are many professions that individuals can seek with a Healthcare
Administration degree. Social workers, mental health therapist, case managers and
long term facilitators are just some of them. The expectant growth for healthcare
occupations from 2014 to 2024 is 19 percent. This is a higher growth rate than with
other occupations. With the continued reform to federal health insurance, which
makes it easier for people to access insurance and the aging population, this could add
2.3 million jobs. Depending on the professionthat someone is seeking, the
educational requirements can differ significantly. The professions on the lower
end of the pay scale require a high school diploma or equivalent to a postsecondary
non degree award. Professions on the medium range of the pay scale require an
Associate to Bachelor s degree. The higher paying professions require a Doctoral or
Professional degree to a Master s degree. The more time that someone dedicates to
their education, will move them higher on the pay scale. The personality traits that
are required include helping others, talking with others and teaching. Individuals with
these personalities will do well in jobs that need you to be dependable, be able to
handle stress well, be very flexible, have a concern for others and have integrity. The
skill set that is required include empathetic listening, giving undivided attention to the

13. Vietnam War Domino Effects
Over the course of history America has been involved with multiple wars fought in
many different parts of the world, giving America unfortunate experiences each time.
But the Vietnam War was the one that gave America the biggest conflict due to the
fact of how many different problems and negative outcomes it gave to the country.
The Vietnam War started in the mid 1950 s (November 1st 1955) in the countries of
North and South Vietnam. It was a war started from North Vietnam attempting to
spread and take over South Vietnam, this led to the US then getting involved to
attempt to prevent a spread of communism and more importantly prevent the domino
effect that happened previously in WWII. There were two main sides to the war,
North Vietnam which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Towards the beginning (JFK) the president who started to go indepth with the
Vietnam War was assassinated, resulting in Lyndon Johnson to start to get more
involved with the Vietnam War. He started to send more and more troops to Vietnam
and having the government lie to the people to help gain more in numbers. Instead of
trying to find ways to prevent warfare and destruction when the Gulf of Tolkien
Incident came he used this as a way to wage war with North Vietnam (even though
North Vietnam never fired against the United States). One thing that made a large
impact on the United States was the fact that this was the first war to be televised,
everyone saw what went on, including the truth. When the Tet offensive was
launched against the South Vietnamese, everyone in the United States could see
that America wasn t really winning the war. This lead to the draft and a large upset
in the general public and a lot of riots from the people because people didn t want
to be apart of this war now more than ever. When more problems started to occur to
Lyndon Johnson he decided to come out publicly and say that he will not be
running for president in the next election. This started to give the people a feeling
that they felt they have won, and believed anything was now possible. When
Lyndon Johnson s presidency was over Richard Nixon won the election and one of
the first things he started was the major situation that was growing on in Vietnam.
Although the first few years in office he still was battling in Vietnam, in 1973 he
signed the Paris Peace Accords which was the treaty that ended America s
participation in Vietnam. This was seen as the first war that the United States has
lost, leading to Nixon to be the first president to lose a war. The final problem that
lead to this war being one of the biggest conflicts the United States has

of the most important types. In 1805, when Meningococcal disease was first

Neisseria Meningitidis have been identified. Four of them have been recognized to

crucial to the identification of the serogroup responsible for epidemic containment.

In the Communist Manifesto, a document that first proclaimed the ideology of
communism itself, Marx declared that the history of all hitherto existing society is
the history of class struggles (Marx, Karl and Frederick Engels). As a man who
spurred resentment of governments and inspired revolutionaries, Karl Marxis often
regarded as a man who led to the rise of 20th century tyrannical dictators such as
Stalin and Mao to take power. His ideas are regarded as failures and, by some, are
seen as pure evil. However, the ideas of Marx were not evil and did not solely bring
about the rise of dictators. Rather, Karl Marx dedicated his life to bring economic
equality to Europe and wanted to bring an end to the corrupt inequality that the...

Furthermore, Marx s upbringing also showed him religion s seductive tyranny .
His father, a Rabbi, had turned away from Judaism, for the family was living in a
predominantly Protestant area that was discriminatory against the Jewish people,
especially by the rulers of the county (Wheen 9). Marx s childhood had an
immense impact on his life. He was born bourgeois Jew who turned from his faith,
argued for socialist values, and eventually died penniless and nearly friendless. As a
result of his upbringing, Marx was able to be educated on the ideas of socialism, for
he lived in a wealthy family and was able to attend college. His father s religious
switch from Judaism to Christianity not only turned him away from Judaism, but
ended up preventing Marx from becoming a Rabbi himself. The nurturing, more
father like, nature of his father in law prompted Marx to pursue knowledge and
growth over religious ideas or social etiquette. His childhood was the mold that
shaped Karl Marx into the man he would become.
Marx s contact with Hegelian philosophy in college changed his perception on
social and economic classes in society and inspired him to pursue the idea of
socialism further in college despite his father s wishes. While in college, Marx had
begun studying law and had planned to become a lawyer. At the University, there
were many who had preached the ideas of Hegel, but Marx turned away at first, not
wanting to lose his father s support and funding

Midshipman, particularly the life of a Plebe. As I sifted through the details of your

admiration for you and your fellow Plebes. Strength, fortitude, courage, selflessness,
and genius come in many forms, and what is perhaps the most awe inspiring
characteristic of the Plebe summer is that it encapsulates all of these intangibles and
more in a highly concentrated, intense manner. Trying to consider and internalize
just how courageous you are is a frivolous exercise; I will never comprehend the
commitment you make, never comprehend the devotion you give, never
comprehend the selflessness you exude, never comprehend the fortitude you
possess. Because of my academic successes and social priorities, several individuals
have celebrated me as a motivated and nice or good person, but when I compare
myself to you, your motivation and goodness indubitably surpass my own, and for
that fact I gain nothing but an unquantifiable respect and admiration for you; you are

17. Daniel Haybron Hedonism Essay
I believe Daniel Haybron s critique of Hedonism, Happiness and Pleasure is
rationally compelling. It paints a vivid yet unbiased picture of hedonist theories,
carefully explaining the doctrine as well as the three major forms of hedonism. These
are psychological hedonism, evaluative or ethical hedonism, and reflective or
rationalizing hedonism. After this explanation, Haybron explores the faults with
hedonism, specifically that there are many factors that go into one s happiness, rather
than the basic and seemingly instinctual search for gratification through pleasure.
These can be physical, intellectual, and emotional. This shows that happiness is, in
fact, a multidimensional, almost bottomless concept. He then goes on to provide
alternate theories that are perhaps more fitting in... Show more content on

These three theories are thymos, life satisfaction theory and affective states. In doing
so, he further disproves the hedonistic belief that happiness is equal to pleasure, and
that humans solely pursue pleasure, whether it be in a direct or indirect fashion. I
agree with this critique of hedonism, and wish to explore my reasoning behind
agreeing with Haybron, whilst hopefully forming my own opinion on all the different
theories of happiness and potentially forming a theory of my own.
Haybron defines hedonism as Happiness, so constructed, reduces completely to a
subject s balance of pleasure over displeasure. Happiness is merely the condition of
having a favorable balance of pleasure over displeasure. This suggests that in order
for humans to remain in a favorable state of mind, they simply must have a larger
amount of pleasure than displeasure in their lives. Happiness is therefore a purely
episodic experiential state. This sort of shallow, fleeting happiness still exists, for
example

Pressing to Print in the Renaissance Since books came to be, humans have looked to
literature to aid them in understanding the world around them, whether it be reading

publications from the period and formed their own opinions towards everything,
which wouldn t have been possible without books. Guttenberg s invention of the
printing pressmechanism expanded the reach of knowledge to people of every social
class by allowing individuals to educate themselves and indirectly fomenting the ideas

production of books, replacing the method of hand copying text. The speed in which

Copyrights and Other Legalities Copyrights are more limited in scope than patents.
They protect the original works of authorship, not the ideas they contain. In the
United States, original works include literary, drama, musical, artistic, and certain
other intellectual works. A computer program, for example, is considered a literary
work and is protected by copyright. A copyright gives its owner the exclusive right to
reproduce and distribute the material or perform or display it publicly. However,

The creators of works protected by copyright, and their successors (generally
referred to as right holders ), have certain basic rights under copyright law. They hold
the exclusive right to use or authorize others to use the work on agreed terms. The
right holder of a work can authorize or prohibit: its reproduction in all forms,
including print form and sound recording, its public performance and communication
to the public, its broadcasting, its translation into other languages, and its adaptation,
such as from a novel to a screenplay for a film. Similar rights that the right holders
may hold are: fixation (recording) and reproduction are granted under related rights.
Many types of works protected under the laws of copyright and related rights require
mass distribution, communication and financial investment for their successful
disseminations (for example, publications, sound recordings and films). Hence,
creators often transfer these rights to companies better able to develop and market
the works, in return for compensation in the form of payments and/or royalties
(compensation based on a percentage of revenues generated by the work). The
economic rights relating to copyrights are of limited duration as provided for in the
relevant World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) treaties beginning with the
creation and fixation of the work, and lasting for at least 50 years after the creator s
death. National laws may establish longer terms

22. Viking Battle Tactics
Viking battle tactics and weaponry continues to impact our world today. From the
unique technique that the Viking performs in battle to the powerful weapons used.
The Vikings were the first and probably the last to introduce their unique battle tactic.
Which is that they had no professional standing army and did not fight regular
formations (Viking Weapons and Warfare). The formation was to charge towards
their enemies all at once, catching their enemies off guard and giving the Vikings the
advantage of the upper hand. They were able to win battles with the formation due to
the loyalty bond between the Viking men and women with their lords (Viking
Weapons and Warfare). Another unique battle tactic the Vikings introduced was the
spread and lay their weapons in the surrounding area where the battle takes place
beforehand, just in case the formation were to backfire (VIKINGS MILITARY
TACTICS AND FORTIFICATIONS).
This tactic was also an advantage if the enemies were to attack first, they would get
injured first before the Vikings can attack. The development of weapons that... Show

Liberation Theology
Black Liberation Theology, Latin American Liberation Theology, and Feminist
Theology
Liberation theology comprises of two main principles: it recognizes the call for
liberation from any form of oppression economic, political, and social: second, it says
that theology must grow from the basic Christian communities and not from above.
Liberation theology examines the theological meaning of human activities, which
includes an explanation of the Christian faith out of suffering, struggle and hopes for
the poor, critiques the society and its ideologies that sustaining its existence. In
addition, it also reflects on the activities of the church from a perspective of the poor.
Liberation lies at three levels of meaning which have a correlation. Liberation at the
social and political level, it states on the oppressed classes and people. It emphasizes
on the conflict that arises from the economic, social, and political process that
happens between the oppressed and oppressors. At the human level, liberation
emerges as a historical process that shows the conscious development of people on
their own through social changes. At the religious level, liberation means being free
from sin the main source of all alienation from fraternity and the source of all
oppression and injustice. This last form of liberation brings man into communion
with God. The three processes are inseparable and form a unique complex process

Discuss how changes on aggregate demand influence price levels, output levels and
employment.
The meaning of aggregate is added together. All of the elements introduced in
microeconomics are totaled in macroeconomics. Aggregate demand and supply
analysis brings together the amount that consumers wish to consume and firms wish
to produce at any price levels. Aggregate demand (AD) is the total demand for final
goods and services in the economy (Y) at a given time and price level. Also it is
the amount of goods and services that will be purchased at all possible price levels
in the economy. This is called the demand for the Gross Domestic Product of a
country when inventory levels are static. The ... Show more content on

Confidence in future sales patterns and government incentive and regulations will
also affect the investment levels.
Another injection in the economy is the multiplier effect of the investment. In the
economy, the money invested today will have a greater impact such as increasing the
levels of output in the future. This is because investment rises the capital stock. With
an evolution in technology, the machineries help production become faster and
cheaper, thus contributing greatly to increasing the output in long term. * The Price
Level and Net Exports: The Exchange Rate Effect
Exports represent an injection into the circular flow of income, in that the money
paid for goods and services sold abroad enters the domestic flow of income.
Imports mean that there is an outflow of money, and exports minus imports gives
the total movement of funds known as net exports. There are a number of reasons
why the value of net exports might change. If the exchange rate increases in value
against other currencies, imports become cheaper and exports more expensive on
world markets. Over time, people respond to these relative price movements and
the demand for exports falls and the demand for imports rises. A stronger currency
will worsen net exports, whereas a weaker currency will improve the figure. Also, for
example if a fall in the UK price level causes UK interest rates to fall, the real
exchange rate
25. Effective Communication Style Analysis
Communication is one of the main things humans do in their day to day activities.
Scholars define communication as an act of exchanging information between one
another and understanding the meaning of it (Semenescu, 2016). The four mains
types of communication are written, verbal, non verbal and visual. Humans
communicate to establish relationship, build foundation for planning, socializing in
general and motivating each other. Communicationcan vary in different settings. For
example in personal context, communication style used is more relaxed, which
means that informal language is used. However, in a professional context,
communication style used in more focused on workplace. Therefore, the language
used is more formal so as to show respect... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Firstly, an individual should have a positive attitude about communication through
understanding that others see things differently. In this case, one should have the
ability to predict the feeling and attitude of the receiver. The person sending the
message should be very clear in his mind about what he wants to say. He should know
the aims of his message and, therefore, his thoughts should be arranged in a proper
order that will not confuse the receiver. In addition to that, the speaker should make it
easy for the listener through taking everything into consideration. One good example
is language, the senders can understand the words that he/she is using to send the
message but to the other end, they are combined with different perceptions. People
around the globe speak different languages, although some speak same but the
meaning and the use of the words can be different from yours. Furthermore, to
overcome barriers to communication, listeners should give feedback because it is the
mirror of communication. Therefore, this means that without feedback,
communication is no way. However, that feedback should be helpful rather than
hurtful. Both ends should see feedback as a problem in perception rather than a
problem of discovering

A trivial culture focuses on the trivial or unimportant aspects of life. In the book,
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley, they are preoccupied with entertainment. What
matters most to the people in the World State is staying entertained. When the people
are not working, they want to take soma, have an orgy or play complicated games,
they enjoy escapist pleasures that don t inspire them to think about the harder
questions of life. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture preoccupied with
feelings instead of facts. While we re not living in a Dystopia, we re not living in a

It is the opposite of utopia which is an imaginary place in which the government,
laws and social conditions are perfect. A dystopia is significant in novels because it
warns the readers that there is a problem that can be solved in the future, just like
the society we live in today. Brave New World can be considered dystopia also
because many aspects of the novel are contributors in making it have an imperfect
society. The World State can also not be considered a dystopia because some
people and some things are considered perfect . An example of this is when Huxley
says, The world s stable now. People are happy; they get what they want, and they
never want what they can t get... and if anything goes wrong, they have soma
(Huxley). The world is stable because all of the people in the World State are
conditioned to be identical. All people are happy due to the drug soma. No matter
what issues arise, the people are enslaved to the drug and rely on it for personal
happiness. This is shown as a utopia because if there is a problem in the world
state, it can be fixed with soma. And after they take soma everything is perfect
again. It s like an easy way out. The dystopian setting in Brave New World is brought
about by technology and by higher authorities. As technology increases, the use for

debris that moves in a narrow path over a body of land. Tornadoes are formed by
warm, wet winds and cold, dry air meeting from opposite directions, also known as
wind shear. then the air mixes together and starts forming a funnel of wind, pulling
clouds with it. Eventually, the funnel shaped cloud touches down onto a large piece
of flat land (e.g. a plain). For example, in the United States, tornadoes form in the
spring and summer time because that is when the warm winds of the Gulf of Mexico
travel north, and the cold airs of Canada travel south, eventually meeting in the
central lands of the United States because the land is very flat there. It wouldn t...

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve
neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin.
Technically speaking, internet censorship is difficult to achieve. Proponents of this
measure seem to have neglected the fact that putting in place a system of surveillance
requires the establishment of clear, unalterable rules. But often, such a task can be
almost unfeasible since it is quite problematical to define precisely the information
that is supposed to be blocked. In the context of hate speech for example, it is
important to acknowledge the existence of a line between criticism, whether it is
constructive or not, and pure animosity.

When it comes to legal videos that may be inappropriate, the team instantly resorts to
age restriction. Both of these internet giants encourage free speech while supervising
it and immediately removing content that is clearly offensive to the general public.
This concept of self regulation is a good alternative to extensive Internet censorship,
since the website only has its own contents to focus on, rather than having an entire
system of surveillance watching over the web, with the risk of it making errors in the
process. Most importantly, the main idea behind these guidelines is not censorship,
but moral, reasonable control.
We should not let the government interfere and impose its draconian laws.
Censorship is nothing but a violation of fundamental civil rights, starting with
freedom of speech. By defying the First Law of Amendment (reference), internet
surveillance will only give the government greater power to run our lives. Without
our free will and autonomy, we are helpless, incapable of making a change. The

A more definitive reading of Hamlet disputes the claim that he was mad, and instead
suggests that Hamlet feigns madness in order to become closer to the truth. This
reading is an example of Shakespeare demonstrating the changing context in
Denmark through the projection of the protagonist as an extended metaphor for the
emerging Renaissance Humanism period. This period was defined by choice and
analysis of events, and is emulated through Hamlet s alliterated statement in his
soliloquy in Scene 3, Act 1, conscience makes cowards of us all. Hamlet believes he
is in a psychological state of cowardice, and that his conscience is holding him back

Michael Huemer addresses two arguments that are presented by those in favor of drug
regulation and prohibition. The first argument for the enforcement of drug control is
that drugs are known to negatively affect those who use them, many believe that the
government should limit self harming activities in society and as such the
government should prohibit said drugs because self harming things are not societally
beneficial. Huemer addresses this argument by outlining problems such as the fact
that many other things are harmful but not prohibited by the government. The second
argument for drugprohibitionis the idea that drug use negatively affects others related
to users, and being that the government has a job to restrict harm befalling others,

As Europe became so much more industrialized, major problems started to rise and
make itself known. Unemployment and lack of money for the people were two of
the major problems (Doc R). Europe s solution to this was to colonize parts of
Africa and send all of the extra people there. This allowed the overflow of people to
be minimized because of the new acquired space they now had. It also helped their
economy because as European people were being pushed out to Africa, new
factories and businesses were put up so they could work in them. Also, the
inventions of the cannon based on the gunpowder empires in Africa and Europe
allowed them to get ahead of their competitors (Doc H). This new artillery
invention allowed Europe to take down African and Asian armies that were larger
than theirs. Since the cannon was a necessity for Europe to take down their
enemies, and was generally ahead in the military aspects, the factories had to make
and model these in the most efficient way possible. This heavy demand for
weaponry placed a big load of work on the factories to produce the cannon and send
it out to the troops the fastest they could. This increase in workload in factories
provided more jobs and strengthen the economy for Europe. Also, the gunpowder

Religion plays a large role in today s society, it s used to comfort us in our greatest
times of need as well as explain seemingly unknowable questions, such as what is
the meaning of life, why are we here, what happens when we die, why do we suffer
but now as in the past religion can be a harmful factor in our society. It has been the
cause of wars, witch hunts, and proliferated superstition. Today there are such laws
that allow a parent to deny their child adequate medical care even if it s to treat a
potentially life threatening illness. In other cases religionis cited as a reason to deny
someone access to birth control. In school s modern science is at times having to

sex education is taught inaccurately which then leaders to things such as high rates
of teen pregnancies and STD s spreading. In other countries these actions are at
times more extreme such as when we hear about suicide bombings, honor killing,
and the like. In this paper I will discuss a few of these topics that I find to be
pertinent, yet the topics are many. I will discuss the harms that such actions can
cause to us as a society both socially and physically due to such harmful laws, I will
also discuss the social reasons as to why such actions are performed in the first place
and why they may be found to be socially acceptable. Lastly I will speak

mango farmers to face market challenges. This was an opportunity to source some

Critical evaluation of the impact of oil price volatility on the strategy of ROYAL
SHELL OIL PLC.
INTRODUCTION
Royal Shell plc incorporates a group of global energy and petrochemical companies
with its headquarters in The Hague, the Netherlands and its parent company is the
Royal Dutch Shell plc, which is incorporated in England and Wales. Its current CEO
is Ben van Beurden.
Royal Shell Plc is chosen for this analysis because of its structured decision to
balance growth with returns and its bold acquisition of BG Group, a major gas
company, although it has the option of cutting spending in the current downturn of
low oil price. The company s long term view in investing in low carbon energy LNG

STRATEGIC CHOICES MADE BY SHELL DURING THE FALL IN PRICE OF
OIL IN 2014 2015
The fall in oil prices in 2014 is a part of the volatility that the oil and gas sector
normally face. This has caused a critical selection on investment decisions as well has
keeping track on cost so as not to bring about an unwanted increase.

Facilities to capture and store CO2 should be a key part of the global solution. Shell
is focusing on projects so as to capture and safely store CO2 from a Canadian oil
sands facility which is expected to be finished by the end of 2015. There is also a
plan for carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility at the Peterhead gas fired power
plant in the UK.
Shell strategizes on further substantial growth once Gorgon, Prelude and other
planned projects are on stream. Shell chases the trading and arbitrage activities in the
global LNG portfolio, thereby adding more value to the bottom line in this important
growth business.
Resources plays, such as shale oil and gas, are a theoretically substantial opening
for the oil and gas industry globally. Shell looks to where value can be added in the
industry as a whole. The Shell resources plays are controlled by North American gas
and liquids rich production.
Shell made plans on investing in economically sound projects in key growth areas,
such as deep water and LNG. There is also need
40. Comparison Of Michael Mann And The Cartel
Director Michael Mann and The Cartel author Don Winslow are teaming up to co
create a novel about organized crime bosses Tony Accardo and Sam Giancana.
Winslow will start work in the spring, following delivery of his next book.
Publication is aimed for 2017 and the novel is slated to be the first book in the
recently announced Michael Mann Book imprint. Mann and Winslow intend to shop
the project to publishers very soon. Mann s book imprint is, as of yet, not affiliated
with a publisher.
The potential movie will be based on the novel and a pre existing screenplay on the
subject written by Mann and Shane Salerno.
Giancana ran the Chicago mob in the late 1950s and 1960s. Many have speculated
that he played a part in the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Giancana was murdered

41. Sophocles Oedipus The King
Oedipus the King is a tragedy written by Sophocles. The play starts out with
Oedipus, the king of thebes realising that a disastrous plague has been causing harm
and destruction to his city and its people. The king sends out his brother in law,
Creon to investigate the cause of this plague. Creon came back stating that this curse
is fallen onto the city due to the murderer of the former king, king Laius not being
properly punished and exiled for his undoing. Oedipusdecides to find Laius s
murderer so that the curse can be lifted. Oedipus questions the blind prophet, Tiresias
about the murder, however he refuses to share his knowledge at first. Then Oedipus
provokes and insults the blind prophet and even calls him the murder. Offended by
this, the prophet reveals that the murder is actually Oedipus.... Show more content on

His wife Jocasta also assures him that prophets are untrue and that he shouldn t
trust the blind prophet. She also tells him that a prophet once told her son would
grow up to be sleeping with her and killing Laius, which she then states is
impossible since they had the child killed as a baby. She claims that it is cannot be
possible for Oedipus to have killed Laius since he was killed by thieves on
crossroads. Oedipus becomes upset by this since he once killed a man at crossroads,
and when he was younger he was once prophesied to ultimately be killing his
biological father and that he d be sleeping with his
42. Using Named Examples Assess The Potential For Water
Supply...
Using named examples, assess the potential for water supply to become a source of
conflict. (15)
According to the International Water Management Institute environmental research
organisation global water stress is increasing, and a third of all people face some
sort of water scarcity. Where demand exceeds supply and no effective management
operates, there will be conflicts between the various players involved.
In addition, global climate change will exacerbate these challenges faced by countries
and populations. Shifting precipitation patterns threaten to reduce water availability
in some regions while inflicting stronger storms on others, increasing both potential
droughts and floods. This may increase the frequency of more serious ... Show more

However in order to secure their supply they must engage in peaceful negotiations as
violence would only jeapordise their share of the supply. Thus the potential for water
conflict is there as tensions continue to increase between upstream and downstream
nations, and perhaps overtime as the downstream nations share of the supply is
further squeezed, these tensions are likely to result in conflict.
Conflict can also occur within a country, for example the states situated within the
Colorado river basin have been constantly squabbling over who owns the water
supply and who should be allocated the most water. In the 1920s the Law of the
River established the division of water amongst the upper basin states, it also
defined their responsibility to supply water to the lower basin states. This division
had been based on an estimated annual flow of 21 billion m3/yr in 1920, however
this was a time of above normal flows, recent studies have indicated that long term
average flows are around 18 billion m3/yr. The deficit between the flow and the
allocation has become more apparent as the population in the clorado basin states
continues to rise. As a result of this deficit tensions are rising between the states,
California receives a large percentage of the water as a result of its large population
and political power even though the river does not directly flow through it. This has
heightened tensions with the states
43. A Closer Look at Mimas Essay
The Saturn Moon Mimas Mimas is an inner moon of Saturn and is the innermost
of the major moons, which are Enceliadus, Tethys, Dione, Rhea, Titan, Hyperion,
Iapetus, and Phoebe. Mimas has a crater named the Herschel Crater, which is
approximately 88 miles and one third the diameter of Mimas. The walls of the
Herschel Crater are approximately 3 miles high and parts of the floor of the crater
range approximately 6 miles deep. The central peak towers of the Herschel Crater
on Mimas are almost 4 miles above the floor of the crater. To imagine this crater on
Earth, it would be around 4,000 kilometers. A English astronomer named William
Herschel, had been using his 40 foot reflector telescope when he had made the
discovery of Mimas on... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This close orbit means that Mimas probably has received several times the rate of
collisions as the collisions of other moons of Saturn. Mimas and another Saturn
moon, Rhea, have been called the most heavily cratered bodies in the Solar
System. It is believed that the craters on Mimas have been around since the
beginning of the Solar System. Mimas is so heavily cratered that new impacts will
overwrite the old craters that were created in the past. There just is not a part of
the Mimas that has not been pounded by impacts. Mimas being closer to Saturn is
what kept it from being heavily cratered compared to Saturn s other moon Rhea.
Results of the crater impacts are hard to detect due to Mimas being a warmer and
consequently softer moon, which over a period of time its earlier features had
faded away as a result of this. The older bigger craters can still be seen, even with
all the impacts the moon has received. Most of the surface on Mimas is saturated
with impact craters, which the range in size is greater than 25 miles in diameter. But
no others are nearly as large as the well known crater Herschel. This suggests that
early in its history, Mimas was probably impacted by even larger bodies than the one
that had created Herschel, which had completely disrupted the new moon, wiping
44. Literary Analysis Of Eveline
James Joyce s Eveline is a short story about a nineteen year old Eveline, who
contemplates abandoning a life she is accustomed to and moving to a distant land
with a man she hardly knows. In one hand she holds the weight of uncertain
happiness, in the other, inevitable misery. Eveline needs to make a choice between
two contrasting lives; one in which she is a servant to her father, in other, a respected
wife. Following her mothers death, Eveline assumes the role of a parent and inherits
all the chores accompanying it. She works hard at home and the Stores (Joyce 74),
but for all her troubles, Eveline gets little respect in return. Now with one brother
dead and other away on business, she is left alone to keep the familytogether and...

Being at the bottom of the hierarchy, Eveline s only means of escape is a man who
will take her hand in marriage.
Eveline s father is the second most important character in the story, yet Joyce
chooses not to reveal his name. That is because he is only a father in a biological
sense, falling short at every other fatherly duty. Mr.Hill is a failed provider who
takes his offspring s earnings only to hand it back, allowing him to feel like a man
of the house . He is abusive and flaunts his dominance by threaten[ing] (Joyce 73)
Eveline well into her adulthood. The threats seem unprovoked and random,
indicating father s attempts to instill fear rather than curb or abolish an offending
behavior. Compensating for his failures, the father uses aggression and control to
get what he wants. Her father was becoming old lately, she noticed; he would miss
her (Joyce 75), the narrator draws our attention to the aging of the father and
impending helplessness following it. Though Joyce does not clarify how the father
will miss Eveline, judging by his past conducts, it is safe to assume that he would
miss Eveline s help around the house and money the most. Still, as she contemplates
leaving, Eveline sees good in him and tries to balance her father s increasing capacity
for violence by remembering three random acts of kindness (Trudell) that seemingly
undue all the wrong he has done in the past. No matter
45. Albert Einstein Speech
Everyone knows about Albert Einstein and his legacy, but what you might not
know is his slowed development as a child. Einstein struggled to use language to
convey his thoughts and feelings to others; however, he admitted that it gave him
more opportunities to reflect on life s elements. His sense of wonder at these
concepts made him pose questions which eventually led to several breakthroughs.
This oddity of Einstein distinguished him from other people. What is something
unusual about you that makes you unique? I live in a gigantic castle! exclaimed
one boy excitedly to the rest of his fellow classmates. That s not possible, my
young self frowned and thought to herself. Nobody lives in castles anymore. A
small girl then shouted out, My friend named Alice has bunny ears! triumphantly.
But... that doesn t make sense! Looking back on my childhood, I ve always
thought that I had no imagination or creativity. I could never remember myself
imagining something. The concept of imagination had seemed so complex to me.
I ve asked myself, How can you see things that aren t really there? numerous times.
I regularly felt like the odd one out because I could hardly ever imagine my own
little world. It seemed as though I was the only one who wasn t in on the big
secret. All the other kids boasted about how their house is a castle or they have
what parents call an imaginary friend . When I was a kid, I just saw what I saw. I
believed imagination was coming up with bizarre and beautiful things and being
able to see them in the real world. I was extremely jealous of other kids and their
ability to imagine. However, I learned as I grew up that I have my own type of
imagination and creativity hidden within me. I constantly wished to view life as
colorful as the movies. I desired the power to imagine so that I could transport
myself to another world whenever I was dying of boredom. The years went by, and I
still believed I lacked imagination. But, I soon realized that my definition of
imagination was incorrect all along. Imagination is not just seeing things that you
make up, in fact, it s more than that. Not all things are restricted to its official
definition. imВ·agВ·iВ·naВ·tion noun the faculty or action of
46. Elements Of Fiction In The Note
How do some writers manage to make their stories better than others? The creative
choices writers make have a big influence on the way their story s themes take shape
and the way the readers react in relation to the story. In The Note I use my power as
an author to manipulate the way that the reader feels and thinks. While writing this
story, I had to think about how to use elements of fictionto make the readers feel the
same emotions that Alicia does to understand and keep reading the story. It begins
in a graveyard where 16 year old Alicia grieves over the suicide of her mother. Now
parentless, she is left alone, frustrated and angry, without an explanation for the
death of her mother. It is told from Alicia s eyes as she looks past her own anger
and comes to terms with the death of her mother. In this essay I will look into how
my uses of point of view, mood, and symbols helped shape the theme of my story,
looking further into something to find the truth.

In The Note I use point of view, mood, and symbolism to develop my theme of
finding the truth in something by looking further in. By using first person narrative
I intend for the reader to feel as if they are one with Alicia, and through that going
on the emotional journey with her helps shape the theme by reaching understanding
in the end of the actions of her mother. The Mood help s create a sad and depressed
atmosphere that changes to become understanding after reading the suicide note. In
The Note I use symbolism to emphasize different aspects of the story to make them
clearer. Writers have a lot of power when it comes to manipulating the reader s
opinions and emotions while reading the story, even if the reader doesn t realize the
small things the writer does to influence
47. The Causes Of The Salem Witch Trials
In June of 1510, 64 women and men were burned at the stake in Val Camonica,
Italy, for causing drought and fires and for harming people, animals and land. In
July of 1518, 60 women and men were burned at the stake in Breto, Italy, for
triggering thunder and lightning and for causing sickness and death of nearly 200
people. In June of 1582, the wife of an English sawyer named Alice Glosscock
from the town of Chelmsford was stripped naked and her body searched for the
marks of a witch, which were found, leading to her conviction and execution. In
May of 1653, a Connecticut colonialist named Elizabeth Godman asked her
neighbor Goodwife Thorp if she had any chickens to sell, but none were available.
The next day Thorp s chickens dropped dead, leading to Godman s arrest and trial.
In May of 1692, seven teenage girls writhed on the floor of a Salem, Massachusetts,
courtroom during the trial of a suspected witch named Martha Carrier, crying out
There is a black man whispering in her ear! Carrier was one of 20 people executed in
what became the most famous witch trial in history. What were these people
thinking?1 It is convenient to dismiss them as unthinking naГЇfs caught up in the
hysterics of a moral panic, but in fact they were thinking quite clearly and they had
the authority of the Bible behind them, as in Exodus 22:18: Thou shalt not suffer a
witch to live. They also had the power of the Roman Catholic Church behind them. In
1484, Pope Innocent VIII issued the Papal

Although Steven Spielberg initially negotiated to direct the first film, he declined
the offer.[13] Spielberg wanted the adaptation to be an animated film, with
American actor Haley Joel Osment to provide Harry Potter s voice.[14] Spielberg
contended that, in his opinion, there was every expectation of profit in making the
film, and that making money would have been like shooting ducks in a barrel. It s
just a slam dunk. It s just like withdrawing a billion dollars and putting it into your
personal bank accounts. There s no challenge .[15] In the Rubbish Bin section of
her website, Rowling maintains that she has no role in choosing directors for the

in March 2000.[18] It was then narrowed down to Silberling, Columbus, Parker
