Essay On A Stitch In Time Saves Nine
Crafting an essay on the proverb "A Stitch in Time Saves Nine" may seem deceptively
straightforward, but delving into its depth and presenting a meaningful exploration can be more
challenging than anticipated. The task requires not just a superficial understanding of the saying,
but a nuanced grasp of its implications and relevance in various contexts.
To begin with, one must meticulously research the origins of the proverb and its historical
evolution. This involves tracing its roots back to its inception and understanding how it has stood
the test of time. Analyzing different interpretations of the proverb, both literal and metaphorical,
is crucial for a comprehensive understanding.
The complexity intensifies when attempting to strike the right balance between providing
historical context and offering a contemporary perspective. A seamless integration of these
elements is essential to demonstrate the proverb's enduring relevance in modern society.
Furthermore, constructing a coherent narrative that flows seamlessly from one idea to the next is
a challenge. Juggling between the literal meaning of timely repairs and the metaphorical
applications in personal, societal, or even global contexts requires finesse. Each point made must
contribute to a cohesive argument, reinforcing the overarching theme of foresight and prevention.
The real difficulty lies in avoiding clichГ©s and delivering a fresh perspective on a proverb that
has been reiterated countless times. Balancing originality with adherence to the traditional
essence of the saying demands a delicate touch in crafting sentences that resonate with readers.
Finally, meticulous editing is indispensable to refine the essay and ensure that each word serves a
purpose. Achieving conciseness without sacrificing depth is a formidable task, and one that often
requires multiple revisions.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the proverb "A Stitch in Time Saves Nine" is a challenging
endeavor that demands a thorough understanding of its historical context, an adept handling of
metaphorical nuances, and a creative approach to presenting timeless wisdom in a fresh light. For

Research Paper On In Vitro Meat
LAYOUT FOR BROCHURE
Adele, Gioia, Eugenia, Catherine
TITLE:
IN VITRO MEAT
WHAT IS IN VITRO MEAT?
In vitro meat is an animal flesh product that does not bring harm to a developed,
living animal in order for it to be produced. Every year, 10 billion animals are killed
(this number is increasing) in the US, just to serve humans needs. Implementing In
Vitro meat into people s lives will allow people to eat healthier, save lives, and will
reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses. In theory, a single cell of an animal can
be enough to feed the whole population of the world with meat. Earth s population is
predicted to rise to approximately 9 billion, thus finding a sustainable system to today
s meat production is critical.
INTRODUCING THE PROBLEM:
Currently there are 7 billion mouths to feed worldwide, and that number will only
increase to 9 billion by 2050. As a result, the demand for meat is expected to grow
by more than two thirds, which means we will need to produce 70% more meat on
the same amount of land currently being cultivated and harvested for food
production. 26% of Earth s ice free surface alone is used just for grazing livestock.
Traditional means of producing meat for human consumption suffer from
inefficiency. On average, animal protein production in the U.S. requires 28 calories
of feed for every calorie of meat produced, according to ... Show more content on

When a stem cell divides, each new cell has the potential either to remain a stem cell
or become another type of cell with a more specialized function. Stem cells are
distinguished from other cell types by two important characteristics. First, they are
unspecialized cells that can renew themselves through cell division, sometimes after
long periods of inactivity. Second, under certain physiologic or experimental
conditions, they can be induced to become tissue or organ specific cells with special
Sierra Leone Civil War Essay
Sierra Leone s modern history is one that is full of issues which were prevalent
throughout the latter part of the 20th century. This small country has struggled to
maintain a proper footing. Unfortunately, it took multiple coups and a violent civil
war for Sierra Leone to reach a somewhat stable state socially. These issues may be
largely due to the country s strange origins. This essay will be discussing some of
the events that lead up to the brutal civil war and the war itself. Several indigenous
groups lived in the country prior to British colonisation, as it was for many areas in
Africa. Beginning in 1797, freed slaves (known as Creoles) were brought to Sierra
Leone after the banning of British slavery(britannica.com). These people were given
the English language and religion to ensure they d be connected socially. But,
without a proper culture to unify the Creoles of the country, there isn t a true sense of
identity. British rule later left Sierra... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On globalsecurity.org, the writers state that, On 30 November 1996, President
Kabbah signed the Abidjan Peace Agreement with the Revolutionary United Front.
This agreement sought to unite the country under peace by giving the RUF roles in
government. However, a coup led by a portion of the army, known as the AFRC, put
many high ranking officials out of office and incorporated the RUF into their newly
taken government to lead (globalsecurity.org). The United Nations later has to step in
to fix the broken country. To prevent the importation of weapons and military
materials, the United Nations placed an embargo on the country of Sierra Leone.
Neighbouring African countries and the UN deployed troops to neutralise the hostile
Sierra Leone traitors and the Revolutionary United Front, finally leading to the war s
end on 18 January 2002 (globalsecurity.org). This allows for former government
officials to reclaim their positions in
Uncle Tom s Cabin Dbq Essay
Uncle Tom s Cabin was written by Harriet Beecher Stowe and was published on
March 20th, 1852. Uncle Tom s Cabin is an anti slavery novel that talks about how
slavery is harmful, traumatic, and it tears families apart and it should be
abolished. This book protests the Fugitive Slave Act. Uncle Tom s Cabin helped
cause the Civil War because it was controversial. It wrote about the evils of slavery
and put a face to slavery. People in the south believed that the whole story was a lie,
and slavery was good. In the south, Harriet Beecher Stowewas portrayed as a villain.
But, in the north people agreed with the book and the bad things that were talked
about. That caused a huge debate about who was right which eventually led to the
civil war. Document C says that Southern people think Harriet Beecher Stowe is a

This novel helped to start the civil war because it was a controversial book that

created because people in the north didn t agree with that. Document G believes
that people in the south make up good things about slavery that aren t true, and they

Tobacco Free Policy Essay
Unquestionably, there is a problem in the US Army with drafting and implementing
strong tobacco policies at the local level. Currently, US Army installations draft
polices that do not comply with federal law and Department of Defense (DoD)
regulations. There is a lack of consistency and enforcement in tobacco policies
across commands (Jahnke et al., 2011). The Department of Defense has an
opportunity to standardize a strong tobacco free policy that can be implemented at
the local level to combat the rate of tobacco use for overall health and physical
readiness within the force.
Presently, in the Army 17% of Soldiers were classified as not medically ready for
deployment and 32% of Soldiers reported tobacco use (Bell et al., 2015). The
prevalence of tobacco use in the military and especially in the US Army is an
enormous health care burden. Unfortunately, tobacco use in the military is
pervasive and current federal law for tobacco in federal workplaces (Executive
Order 13058) and DoD regulations (AR 600 63) are not being implemented or
enforced. Tobacco use still continues to be a cultural norm even though Soldiers are
required to meet physical health standards (medical readiness). Prevalence of
cardiovascular disease/COPD is high within the U.S. Army population and can be
linked to tobacco use. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tobacco free medical campuses and hospitals have become a common practice,
since 2009, 45% of US hospitals have adopted a smoke free campus policy
(Williams et al., 2009). The current climate, cost, and impact within the workforce
population is ideal for establishing a benchmark for reducing the rates of tobacco use
across the entire US Army population. The policy would reach a much larger target
audience to include veterans who visit the medical facilities on

A mysterious and strange malady arrives in the small American town of Abida
which can be found on an island off the coast of the New England region. The
island is somewhat isolated, most political matters are handled locally between it s
people, this is due to the islands history. The people of Abida are the final result of
successful human amalgamation between slave and owner with many of which

Analysis Of La Lengua De Las Mariposas
I chose to watch the movie La Lengua de las Mariposas; which translates to The
Tongue of the Butterflies . I did not know what movie to watch originally but I
remembered learning the word mariposas from my high school Spanish teacher.
Also, this movie came up on two separate lists when I searched for a movie to watch
for this assignment. When watching this movie, I tried to listen very carefully to find
words or phrases I knew. I had to watch the full movie in Spanish without subtitle,
neither in English nor Spanish. I could understand about one in every four
sentences. However, I do not believe that impaired or hindered my understanding
of the movie. I could follow along with the movie by catching phrases here and
there, as well as watching the actions of the actors carefully. For instance, the
movie was released in 1999, mentioned in the title, but from a scene in the movie I
was able to determine that the setting was a small town in Spain in the year 1936. In
this movie I detected two running themes. The first was the progression of a new era
in a young boys life; he started school. The young boy, Mancho, was nervous and
afraid on his first day of school. In fact, he ended wetting himself when called to the
front of the class by the teacher. This scene and the way his mother acted when
dropping him off, making sure to talk to the teacher about his difficulty breathing,
made it clear that it wasn t just the start of a new year but the first time he was able
to go to
Should Historians Emphasize Agriculture
What should the Aztecs be known for? Their remarkable agriculture or their
horrifying human sacrifices? The Aztecs lived in Central Mexico during the 1300s to
1500s. Historians debate whether agriculture or human sacrifice is the thing that the
Aztecs should be known for. Historians should emphasize agriculture because they
had a brilliant structure for their chinampas, it was so important that they had gods
for their agriculture, and they succeeded in ruling their empire because of it. The
Aztecs were very innovative and had created an organized way of growing their
crops. They built islands called chinampas, where most of them farmed and lived. The
Aztecs had innovated a new and different way of cultivating crops on their
chinampas. According
Gattaca Mise En Scene Analysis
Gattaca is a soft Sci Fi movie that is centered around one main character, and his
story, rather than the technology featured in the film. Vincent dreams to go to space,
and with the help of Jerome, Vincent can reach his goal. As one watchers Gattaca
many aspects of film are used and the combination of sound, shot selections, and
lighting creates the movie world we know as Gattaca.
The sounds of Gattaca are for the most part silenced, what one would think to be
loud is some what dumbed down, or muffled, This makes the mise en scene darker,
and mysterious. Which is what audiences think through the movie, how mysterious
all of Gattaca is. One scene in particular that shows of effective this technique is, is
in the opening scene. Objects are falling and it is very hard to make out what is
happening, but all is silent so there are no hints as to what the audience is seeing. As
it rolls on we see that these objects are actually hair and nail clippings and leaves the
audience wondering what these have to do with the movie. But because all of this is
silent it because the audience wanting to watch more, it draws them in. ... Show more

Through Shot selection the director decides how to portray characters and the set of
Gattaca. For example angles are used to show who is more dominant, characters like
Anton are shot from slightly below to show that to Vincent Anton is superior.
However over time shots of Vincent start high and end low to show how Vincent has
changed as a character through the movie. Another example of shot selection is the
uses of close ups, on people and objects. These shots make the scene it is used in
more intense and it highlights key things that could show Vincent s true

Heaven is a 10 year old girl who is very stubborn and stuck up, who also went to
school with others who were the same way. So she never really got along with
anyone because they felt like she was rude and wanted to be better than everyone .
Sorry to say but that wasn t the reason . Heaven had been through alot in her past that
no one would ever even think about . The problem with people today is that they
judge people by their cover instead of actually opening the book and realizing their
story . People like to see people in a way that they want to . So therefore they judge

UPS Strike Essay
UPS Strike
In early August of 1997 the United Parcel Service (UPS) had a predicament on its
hands, a teamsters strike. UPS, the world s largest package distribution company
was coming off a year [1996] in which they reported sales of $22.4 billion. UPS
Employed 75,000 management and non union employees compared with 185,000
teamsters who are part of the AFL CIO that were going on strike. The teamsters
rejected a contract extension offer from the company leaving the fate of millions of
packages carrying everything from lobsters to laser printers up in the air (Johnson).
Tensions between union supporters and management began mounting in the years
preceding the strike. In April of 1994, the International Union ... Show more content

UPS proposed a plan that would increase the monthly pension benefits for full and
part time employees an average of 50 percent. The current pension plan benefited
thousands of teamsters retirees that never even worked for UPS . Basically, UPS
wanted UPS dollars to go to UPS people (UPS vs Teamsters). Before the strike, in
many regions UPS participated in multi employer benefit plans in which several
shipping employers jointly pay for employee benefits. If one employer goes out of
business or gets behind on payments, the other employers must compensate for the
loss. This explains why it is said that UPS pays for the retirement and benefits of
people that never worked for them (Business News New Jersey).
Another issue in negotiations was full time versus part time positions. UPS
employees argued that too many workers were working 35 45 hours a week, often at
two different jobs, for part time pay. Having about two thirds of all teamsters being
part time this was a central issue. They wanted these part time positions to be
converted into full time positions. UPS claimed that it did not want to guarantee full
time positions because of fluctuations in work and wants flexibility for competitive
reasons (UPS vs Teamsters). Along with full time positions and the pension
arguments, strikers wanted limits on giving work to subcontractors, and health and
safety improvements.
John Cortez, a warehouseman for UPS has been surviving for five years on the
Rabbit Proof Fence Sociology
Rabbit proof fence directed by Phillip Noyce is a film about a true story involving
three half cast Aboriginal young girls from a school they were obliged to attend, far
away from their hometown under the laws made by A.O.Neville a government
official. In 1931, they were taken away from their mothers and were forcibly moved
to the Moore River Settlement School in Perth, Western Australia. They were
educated in the British ways eventually to become servants and compulsorily had to
adapt to a new culture, while forgetting about their native traditions and morals. The
government considered half casts as children which they felt responsible for taking
them to established schools where they were to be educated one of the schools being

With only breadcrumbs and determination they walked barefoot through harsh lands
with the intensity of the sun and under the constant threat that they would be

tracker using his skills to follow the girls. Through all attempts, the girls were able to
outsmart the tracker. Along the way, they encountered with various people, offering

Building An Exascale Scale System
Even though Exascale computing is providing very good opportunities in the field
of science, like in the understanding of the behavior of the fundamental components
of nature. In order to build an Exascale scale system we have to overcome some of
the critical challenge like architecture, software, algorithm and data challenges. Some
of the important challenges of the Exascale computing are, Challenges due to scale
and complexity of system Previously the power of super computers has grown by
doubling the clock frequency. In the last two decades the trend has changed the
power of supercomputing is increased by increasing the number of processors.

The shift to multicore Exascale systems will require applications to exploit million
way parallelism and overcome significant reductions in the bandwidth and volume
of memory available to each CPU. There is another looming shift in the complexity
of the node architectures that will be as big a challenge to software development
as the exponential growth in processors. This is the potential shift to heterogeneous
node architectures. The major challenges caused by the increasing scale and
complexity HPC systems are cross cutting of the entire software stack. The software
challenges include the rapid increase in parallelism, the memory wall, system
heterogeneity and fault tolerance. Increasing Parallelism The tremendous increase
of system concurrency from hundreds of thousands to hundreds of millions will be
a big challenge for system software to manage and for applications to get good
performance at this level of parallelism. As we all know that almost all of today s
large scale applications use the message passing programming model (MPI) together
with traditional sequential languages (C, Fortran, C++), but the new architectures
with many cores per chip and parallelism in the millions will make this programming
model more problematic and less productive in the future. Thus a new approach is
needed. Like
Nelson Mandela Analysis
The relationship that develops between Nelson Mandela and Francois Pienaar in
the movie Invictus suggests how crucial of a role they play as leaders to the people
of South Africa. Even though, Pienaar is white and Mandela is black, they both
work towards uniting a divided nation despite their differences. Regarding Nelson
Mandela, he uses his voice and presidential power to find a way in which he can
unite the whites and blacks of South Africa. When he discovers that sports,
particularly rugby, can be used as a method to unite the people of South Africa to
cheer for one team despite how divided its people may be, it signifies how
influential and wise of a leader he is to the people of South Africa. This is so
inspiring for me because he found an interest that both the whites and blacks of
South Africa have in common that will help bridge the gap between them despite
their troubled history with each other. Some characteristics of Mandela that indicate
how influential of a leader he became for the people of South Africa is because of
his transparence, empathy, courtesy, and humility. Mandela served as such a vital
figure as a leader in uniting South Africa through his devotion to the rugby team. He
understood how influential this team was to the entire nation, and he made every
effort to establish a close relationship with the team by frequently meeting and
speaking with the players and attending their games. Due to his valiant efforts, he
did everything he could to help inspire the team by investing so much time into
their success as a leader to the point where they felt that they would have failed the
entire nation had they not won the World Cup. Now, this surge of success among
the rugby team was ignited by the captain of the team himself, Francois Pienaar.
Francois Pienaar developed into a very crucial leader for not only the South African
rugby team, but for the people of South Africa. He not only led the rugby team to
success on the field, but due to his close relationship with Mandela he was able to
inspire and motivate his teammates towards winning the World Cup. For Pienaar,
winning the World Cup meant so much more to him than simply having the
opportunity to hold up a trophy, but rather to provoke
Music Tempo s Effect on Heart Rate Essay
Introduction Being a college student in this day in age is never easy. We are
always on the move and become stressed very easily. One of the ways students deal
with the pressure of ongoing assignments, papers, and various projects is to simply
listen to music. Music is very popular to our specific age group, but is consuming
different styles of music necessarily a healthy alternate to the stress? How does music
affect the heart rateand what different types of music have a greater affect on heart
rate? Music most definitely has emotional value. Heart rate can be directly influenced
by these emotional changes. Our group decided to test music tempos effect on heart

As you can see form Chart B, we calculated percent change between the different
types of music. When our subjects listened to heavy metal music, their heart rates
increased on average. When our subjects listened to classical music, their heart rates
decreased on average, below resting heart rate. Our tables do not show the negative
side of the spectrum, but still show the percent change in heart rate, which is what we
were trying to accomplish. Due to classical music actually lowering heart rate, our
hypothesis was not proven complete. Relate back to our hypothesis. We
hypothesized that fast tempo music would increase heart rates while slower paced
music will keep heart rate at about the same. Still, if you relate back to the table
and Chart A, we have still conducted positive evidence to prove that music does
play a role in a change of heart rates. Each subject did experience a change in heart
rate, both positive and negative. This experiment does relate back to the original
real world issue of heart rate. Being able to understand how to control heart rate is
very important. If someone has heart problems or an irregular heart beat they need
to be aware of certain music that could potentially be harmful to them. Like wise, if
someone were trying to be in a good mood or simply be hyper, they would enjoy

Derek Walcott s Omeros and St Lucia Essay
Omeros and St Lucia
Derek Walcott amp;#8217;s Omeros is an epic story which fits well into the
classical tradition. Its numerous echoes of Homeric writing combined with the use
of characters amp;#8217; names from Homer amp;#8217;s stories are clear
evidence to the fact that there is a major parallel to Homer amp;#8217;s Iliad and
Odyssey. There is no debate in this obvious fact. Omeros and Derek Walcott
amp;#8217;s writing, however, are much more than a mere reproduction of classical
Greek and Roman themes. Arguing this fact is an insult to Walcott and his masterful

The French and English had many battles near this island, including the Battle of Cul
de Sac and the Battle of the Saintes, which has a significant impact in the pages of
the poem. Major Plunkett, in his analyzation of the history of St Lucia, becomes very
interested in an Ensign Plunkett, who (only in Omeros) is part of the Battle of the
Saintes. Today, St. Lucia is a multicultural democracy which became independent
from English rule in 1979.
This conflict of these two European powers is a theme which Walcott carries over
to the story. In Omeros, Walcott uses Achille and Hector to show the struggle
between these two nations. In one place, Walcott says, amp;#8220;...An island
called Helen..., ; Bk 2, XIX, i). Obviously, this is a clear reference to Helen being
used as a figure of St. Lucia. He uses Achille and Hector amp;#8217;s mutual
pursuit of Helen to signify France (Hector) and England (Achille) amp;#8217;s
constant struggle for the control of St. Lucia. This struggle is seen from very early
on in the story: amp;#8220;The duel of the fisherman/was over a shadow and its
name was Helen ; (Bk 1, III, i). When Hector sells his boat while Achille remains a
fisherman, it makes reference to the Navy of England amp;#8217;s domination over
that of the rest of the world. At first, we see that Helen is with Hector when she
The Political Ideology That Best Represents My Views
The political ideology that best represents my views is liberalism. Liberalism is an
ideology that emphasizes, cultural diversity, government programs for the needy,
public intervention in the economy, and individuals rights to a lifestyle based on
their own social and moral positions (Morone Kersh, 2014, p. 37). In other words,
liberalismpromotes government assistance for individuals in need as well as protect
every individual s rights.
One aspect of my life that has shaped my political views is my religious background.
I grew up in a Baptist family, and used to go to church regularly. As I got older, I
started going to church less and less because the things my pastor said made me feel
very uncomfortable. At the time, I did not understand why I felt so uncomfortable
and it was not until I got older that I realized why I felt the way I did. Majority of the
time, my pastor said things that had sexist and homophobic undertones. Despite being
in a holy place, I spent the duration of my time as a member of the church feeling
disconnected from everything, which eventually led to me breaking ties with the
church completely.
My family s financial background also helped in shaping my views. When I was
younger, my family received financial assistance from the government in the form
of CHIPs and food stamps. I was too young to remember how food stamps benefited
my family, but I do remember the many ways in which CHIPs helped us out. For
example, I grew up having terrible

There are taboos in this world, too hideous and ghastly for the general public, far
beyond our normal day to day lives. However, some authors want to thrust these
taboos onto the population and make people live some of the fear, gore, and
wretchedness that follow these subjects. Herman Melville and Thomas Harris share
many similarities in their writing styles, between their popularity and their deep and
meaningful narratives that they have within their novels, specifically, Typee, The
Silence of the Lambs. Herman Melville s Typee and Thomas Harris The Silence of the

Diet Mediated And Transgenerational Epigenetic Effects
Diet Mediated and Transgenerational Epigenetic Effects An offspring s microbial
composition is initially determined through maternal transmission in utero and during
birth, however, after delivery, the microbiota is not fixed and may be changed by a
multitude of environmental factors. The mode of delivery (vaginal or caesarean
section), diet, and many other factors continue to play dynamic roles throughout an
individual s lifetime (Marques et al., 2010). Recent studies have indicated that
maternal and neonatal nutrition significantly alter the epigenome of offspring, with
the food consumed during pregnancy modulating the gut microbiota as well as the
metabolites produced (Turnbaugh et al., 2009). Dietary intervention studies indicate
that the diet sensitive nature of the gut persists throughout life, and that the gut
microbiota often responds rapidly to changes in diet (Hullar Fu, 2014). More
specifically, dietary alterations modulate the exposure of the host to microbial
metabolites (such as butyrate) which could have a multiplicity of epigenetic effects
in the offspring (Duncan et al., 2007). Not only do the foods consumed during
pregnancy alter the epigenetic marks of offspring, significant evidence is showing
that those epigenetic marks can have transgenerational effects (Heard Martienssen,
2014). One recent study showed that children of obese fathers were at a higher risk
of developing obesity themselves. The epigenetic marks of lean and obese men
showed similar
James Baldwin s John Go Tell It On The Mountain
Every individual struggles with his/her religion. Every individual is born into
families, races, culture, and have very little awareness of the individuality of being a
young child. Most People Struggle with their identity in the 1920 s. Separate
individuals from their families and care takers appear to be more important until they
are able to recognize themselves. This essay will illustrate how important group and
individual identityis, but how sometimes it is not enough in determining the outcome
of an individual s actions or the path of an individual s life. Certainly without a sense
of individual and group identity, individuals lose their sense of self esteem and
cannot survive. The result of this loss can be depression, hatred, violence... Show

Spirited Away Reflection
Hayao Miyazaki s oscar award winning Spirited Away was the first Japanese anime
film to win an Oscar. To see how this animated feature film won this grand award,
this paper will talk about the writing, music, and sound design of this film.
Hayao Miyazaki was born on January 5, 1941 in a town called Akebono cho in
BunkyЕЌ, Tokyo. His father ran a business that manufactured plane rudders during
World War II. At the age of 3, Miyazaki s family had to evacuate numerous times to
escape bombings in their area. Miyazaki aspired to become a manga artist when he
was in junior high, but he was not good at drawing people, so instead he drew
planes, tanks, and ships. He then got inspired by a movie called Panda and the
Magic Serpent (1958) and began to draw more people.
Miyazaki s writing tends to be more on the fantasy side. One theme that can be
seen throughout his films is the joy and wonder of flying, as Miyazaki himself
loves the idea of flying. In most of his more famous films, things start out in a
normal and real world setting, and then get whisked away into a new and strange
world filled with mystery and wonder.
The story of Spirited Awayfollows a ten year old girl named Chihiro, who is
currently moving into a new home in a new town in Japan. On their way to the new
house, Chihiro s parents find an abandoned temple like structure. The family decides
to venture in and investigate the area. Chihiro is cautious and doesn t want to go any
further, but the fear of being left alone
How Sylvia Plath s Life is Reflected in the Poems Daddy,...
How Sylvia Plath s Life is Reflected in the Poems Daddy, Morning Song, and Lady
Lazarus Sylvia Plath has had an exciting life, if I can use this word. Her father died
from an undiagnosed diabetes when she was eight. At the same time, a short
couplet that she wrote was published in the Boston Sunday Herald. Later, she won
scholarships to study in Smith, Harvard, and finally Cambridge. There, Plath
married Ted Hughes, who was a good poet, too. What amazes me in her life is that
she had attempted suicide three times, once every ten years. In 1963, she succeeded
in killing herself as she gassed herself to death. In an outsider point of view I always
wonder how a woman with so much going for her would... Show more content on

Most of the poems in Ariel show Plath s self, going from a state of symbolic death
to one of rebirth. In this essay we will look into her life through three of her poems
in Ariel : Daddy , Lady Lazarus , and Morning Song. Morning Song is the opening
poem in Ariel. It is generally agreed that the poem expresses Plath s conflicted
feelings at the birth of her first child, her daughter Frieda Rebecca Plath, especially
her sense of diminishment and servitude that only motherhood can involve. On the
first line we can see that Frieda was really the fruit of love between Sylvia and Ted
it says, Love set you going like a fat gold watch. A gold watch is a beautiful and
dear gift. The word fat here implies beautiful, too, because fat babies are beautiful.
Also, Frieda might have had some kind of breathing difficulty the time she was
born, as the second and third lines go: The midwife slapped your footsoles, and
your bald cry/Took its place among the elements. It hints that the nurse ( midwife )
slapped the baby s soles to make her cry, thus begin to breathe. The second stanza is
Our voices echo, magnifying your arrival. New statue./In a drafty museum, your
nakedness/Shadows our safety. We stand round blankly as walls. The first sentence
states that when Frieda was born, people around her applauded. Then Plath resembled

Super Bowl Sunday, the most viewed sports event known to everyone in the
United States, excusing he Olympics. With the Super Bowl, there is always been
some kind of controversy in it due to it being too much about the football players

it is died down. In this case, it can be looked at multiple ways due to the over hype

Positive Effects Of Technology On Adults
There are teens whom lock themselves in their rooms for 20 hours straight on Skype
with their friends or playing video games, sleepless, unable to sustain interaction with
their families. Technology enables this hermit lifestyle. These reclusive teens could
make major scientific discoveries with the technological advancements the world has
made instead of laziness. While advancements in technology have had positive effects
in human contact, such as the reconnection with friends through social media, the
negative social effects of technology are far more prevalent such as antisocial
behavior, cyberbullying on the Internet, and the presence of sexual predators on
social media. Technology has contributed to a massive loss in human contact,... Show

Many naive teenage girls use social media and do not adequately monitor their
privacy, believing the anonymity of technology will shield them from harm.
However, these sexual predators can disguise their identity. These predators can
arrange to meet up with their victim at places in the outside world. A teenage girl
may believe this predator is someone her age, but how would she know if they never
met in person? Many will argue the most positive effects of technology s intangible
contact would be the reconnection with friends from times long ago, or being able to
have long distance relationships. Still, many people who frequently use social media
have never actually seen their online friends in real life. This loss of human contact in
social media and technology contributes to high numbers of sexual assaults and
murders from the predators in the real world. Technology does allow people to
complete tasks without the contact with others, but this has had an ultimately
negative effect on society. Even though technology s human contact limitation allows
for personal and private tasks such as shopping or checking out books alone,
technology has mainly been proven to contribute to antisocial behavior, mental health

Army, as it was unable to defend southern Pennsylvania at the time. This location
also left the vulnerable under supplied army in striking distance of the British, who

British to keep their raiding and foraging parties out of the interior of Pennsylvania,
yet far enough away to halt the threat of British surprise attacks.

Getting A New Country Can Be A Very Difficult Transition...
Migrating to a new country can be a very difficult transition for a child. Two months
before my seventh birthday my brother and I, traveled from Jamaica to Miami. Prior
to this time we live with our mother, however, she made the difficult decision to send
her children to live with our dad and grandmother. Years after she explain that she
made this decision to give my brother and me the opportunity to get a better education
and ultimately a better life. Although it was a difficult decision, fast forwarding thirty
years her dreams for me has definitely been fulfilled.
School in America required a lot of adjustments, and I really had a difficult time
with every subject except math and found it difficult to make friends. Although,
making friends became much easier, my love for learning did not develop until
many years later. It was not until my eighth grade year of middle school that I
found myself being successful in school. I attributed this change to teachers who
did not allow me to be a mediocre student. On my first day of class my math
teacher Mr. Baker noticed me in the back of the class. He asked me why I was in
the regular class, and by the next day he moved me to the honors class. Another
teacher, Mrs. Hawkins recommended me for gifted, and this event was pinnacle in
showing me that I could be success in school.
This change in my life came at the perfect time, because my eighth grade year made
it possible for me to sign up for honors course in high school. My high
What Is The Difference Between Self-Concept And Self
Esteem
The difference between self concept and self esteem is that the self concept refers
to educational settings. Basically self concept is the perceptions of an individual s
knowledge and ability in activities like athletics, math, reading, science, and
friendships (Bohlin, Durwin, Reese Weber, page 53). According to the book, the
relationship between academic self concept and achievement is complementary,
because while more positive self concept more higher achievements and while
more higher achievements more positive self concept. For example, if a person
has positive self concept is more likely to have high achievements. I as a Mexican
immigrant, reinforce my own self concept every day because the concept that
many people have about Mexican immigrants in this country is too bad. Some
people in the United States have the Mexicans in the concept of lazy people that
do not like to study. This concept gives me the strength to learn new things, love
myself and know what I am able to achieve by myself. Self concept affects learning
in different ways. For example, as immigrant my daughter did not have many
academic opportunities and financial aid available for her, but because she knew
what she is capable to achieve, she looked for different programs that might help
her financially. She graduate from college last year and she finished her fist year at
San Jose State. She never gives up and all the time looked for new opportunities
because she has a positive healthy self concept.
Siege Of Sarajevo
Based on what I have read ambitions and hopelessness can lead to unconditional
sacrifices. This poem empathizes Siege of Sarajevo, the Sarajevo bear represents
Sarajevo and the sniper symbolizes Yugoslavia. Sarajevo s ambition was to be an
independent city, while Yugoslavia oppose of this idea so they went to Sarajevo
and burned their buildings as well as captured people and tortured them. All roads
leading in and out of Sarajevo were blockaded. About 400,000 residents were
trapped in the siege, and they were cut off from food, medicine and water.
Thousands of civilians were killed, wounded or dying of starvation. Their only
chance for survival was the success of UN airlifts from the Sarajevo airport. People
were faced with dilemmas to stay in their hidings waiting for the end. People who
were feeding the bear knew well what would happen when snipers eventually spot
them, but they didn t give up, not just because they pitied the bear, but perhaps they
pitied themselves more. They challenged coercion and fear, striving to retain what s
left of their humanity. People try helping the people who were trapped in the siege,
they knew what would happen to them, but they just helped, more than half of the
population risk their lives in order to be an independent city. Even though, Sarajevo
felt hopeless that they couldn t do anything they endlessly continue to battle for
independence so after about 3 years of hardships they were finally free.... Show more

Moreover, I constantly adapt exercises and classroom dynamics to ensure that all
students enjoy participating and understand completely. At the end of the class, I
leave five minutes for students to cool down by helping me to sum up the lesson s
main issues or methodological approaches.
I believe this integration will both motivate the students and show the importance of
the topic. I also believe that hands on experience is invaluable in learning. Therefore,
I plan to give such experiences to students by practical and interesting assignments
and projects. Especially for graduate level courses, I would like to direct the students
toward research by new attractive projects relation with climate changes that would
lead to new tools and techniques. Students learn best when they are active
participants and not passive listeners. These are the cornerstones of my teaching
philosophy. As a member of the faculty in your department, I would continually strive
to teach in an active style that engages the students and gets them excited about the
topic. I would design courses that establish problem solving skills and hypothesis
driven learning. Specifically, in my lectures and laboratory courses, I would introduce
students to current research from my own and internationally reported data. So, the

Effects Of Communication On Social Media
CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION There are implications when parents fail to
understand some apparent psychological distresses this generation of adolescents are
experiencing due to the communication done on social media. These psychological
distresses that many adolescents are experiencing when they communicate on their
social media sites seem to fall within the criteria for major depression. Since rates of
teen depression are on a rapid rise and social media is their primary source of
communication, this research study wants to explore if the internalizing symptoms
they are experiencing fall in the criteria for major depression. Therefore, the purpose
of this qualitative study is to understand how the constant communication done on
social media impacts adolescent depression in San Antonio, TX. In fact, recent
studies show that when teens spend more time on their electronics and less time on in
person social interactions, they experience and struggle with different internal
symptoms like loneliness (Twenge, 2017). Although, cell phones, tablets, computers,
etc., link adolescents day and night in constant communication through their social
media apps, unfortunately social media exacerbates several internalizing symptoms,
especially the age old teen concern about their fears of being left out (Twenge, 2017).
Today s teens may go to fewer parties and spend less time together in person, but
when they do congregate, they document their hangouts relentlessly on Snapchat,

Title:Gilgamesh Type:Epic Author: Anonymous Theme:The central idea of
Gilgamesh was the greed that he had to receive eternal life. Gilgamesh was a

seeing Enkidu die. Gilgamesh knew his destiny was not to receive eternal life
because he was half man. He decided to go against the odds to fight against not
having eternal life searching for the secret despite what the Gods told him.
Exposition:The story dates between 2500 1500 B.C. Gilgamesh ruled in Uruk, a city

him from living forever. He decides to ignore the advice given to the gods and goes
on a quest to find the boatman Utnapishtim for eternal life. Climax:Gilgamesh goes
on his journey for everlasting life and find the boat man Utnapishtim for
everlasting life. First, Gilgamesh is challenged to stay awake for 6 days and 7
nights, but he fails at the task. Secondly, he tells Gilgamesh that a prickly plant has
the answer for his eternal life and if he is able to capture it he will hold in his
hands the answer for his youth. As Gilgamesh goes to cleanse him self, a serpent
takes his plant and Gilgamesh is saddened because this now means death is in his
path. He decides to make plans to take the plant to the elderly men to renew their
youth which shows leadership as a king is suppose to be. Resolution or
Denouement: In the beginning of the epic Gilgamesh the people of Uruk saw
Gilgamesh as a lousy, obnoxious, arrogant ruler. After his journeys to find
everlasting life his heart began to soften and see a different perspective of life. It
was revealed long after Gilgamesh s death that he was actually considered a god.
This helps explain his fear towards death. Gilgamesh wanted to physically be a great
warrior until the end of time opposed to just another historic memory. Although it was
not actually death he was afraid of,
The Blind Side Symbolism
The blind side, written by John Lee Handcock, is based on the story and events of
the Tuohy family as they take in a young homeless boy by the name of Michael
Oher. A fatherless Micheal Oher is left in the care of his drug addicted mother in
the gang filled projects of Memphis. But soon things are about to change for him.
Through a series of events he is accepted into Wingate Christian School, which is
an exclusive private school, even though his education level did not meet their
standards. During the attendance at Wingate he meets the Tuohy family who take
him in and help him succeed in high school, college, and reach his professional
football career as he became the first round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the
2009 NFL draft. The Blind Side uses detailed scenes amplified by dialogue and
symbolism to portray the theme of judging a person by their appearance and past
verses judging them by their character and abilities. The first time this theme is
displayed is after Tony Hamilton, father of Steven, goes to Wingate in order to get
his son Steven a better education. After prospecting his son Steven as an all star
sports player to coach Cotton, Tony tells the coach that not only does he want his
son, Steven, to attend Wingate but he also would like Big Mike(Michael Oher) to
attend. After the coach looks out the window seeing Bike Mike and Steven playing
basketball he presents their paperwork to the board of Wingate. As the board is

ABSTRACT
Weka (Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis) is a collection of machine
learning algorithms developed on Java platform by University of Waikato, New
Zealand. It is a data analyzing tool used for data modeling and predictive analysis.
It is licensed under GNU General Public License. As it is implemented in Java it is
platform independent. It is a comprehensive collection of various data preprocessing
and modeling techniques. Some of the operations performed using Weka like
classification, clustering etc. are discussed here. It provides implementation of
various algorithms which can be applied on any kind of datasets.
It has wide range of features which perfectly suits for a data mining process. This
includes preprocessing of data to clean and structure the data. Then it is followed by
data classification/clustering by choosing appropriate algorithm. Weka contains four
different types of interface. Each one has its own specifications. Explorer is the
simple and basic interface whereas Experimenter is the most efficient of all these.
Using Java Database Connectivity, it provides access to SQL databases and can be
used to process the result obtained from database queries.
This article provides a brief introduction to Weka, list of few algorithms in Weka,

Themes In The Farming Of Bones By Edwidge Danticat
In the Farming of Bones, Edwidge Danticat explores the 1937 massacre of Haitian
immigrant workers in the Dominican Republic. This unfortunate and destructive
reality rests squarely on the shoulders of Amabelle, who strives to find stability, love,
and answers to tough questions on her quest for personal freedom. Throughout the
narrative, Danticat uses the cave, sugar cane, and rive images, in order to deeply
investigate the essence of the situation and provide us with symbolic images to
enhance the story of Amabelle and the people around her in Columbia and Haiti.
Danticat uses a few types of plants to explore the reality of Haitian field workers

As book ends, she is lying in the current, giving herself up to fate and the forward
flow of the river, with faith for a new life. In the water, she symbolically relives the
massacre of her parent and so many Haitian people while attempting to gain
clarification on so many questions. Her slight submersion helps her undergo some
type of rebirth, The water was warm for October, warm and shallow, so shallow
that I could lie on my back in it with my shoulders only half submerged. . . . cradled
by the current, paddling like a newborn in a washbasin. (310) Danticat illustrates,
once again, death. This time, conversely, the remembrance of death allows for growth
and life in Amabelle.
The death attracting river serves as the backdrop of actual and symbolic death;
many people die in it, corpses float down it, and once people cross it, their lives are
never the same Crossing the river multiple times becomes eye opening experience in
itself; we see this through Amabelle attempting to return to her previous dwelling
and everything that was alive before is no longer as she knew it or in a sense, dead.
Therefore, Danticat suggests that Amabelle can never truly go back to the other side.
However, through her return to the middle of the river, she conquers the death that
has plagued her

Nursing Leadership Philosophy Essay
Leadership is all about having the right amount of heart and determination to help
make a difference in someone s life. It takes certain qualities to be considered a
good leader. A leader should want to help inspire others to make a change and to
be the best that they can be. A true leader does not need to feel powerful, instead
they empower those around them. Throughout my life I have come across various
leaders who have made an impact on my life. It takes a very special person to inspire
and touch people s lives. Leadership is so much deeper than having power and
bossing people around. One of my greatest skills is being able to be compassionate
towards others. By placing myself into someone else s shoes, I find myself being

My mother always told me, When the going gets tough, the tough get going. When
times get rough it is important to not waste time sitting in self pity, instead you
need to take charge and change things for the better. I believe that being a good
leader does not wait around just hoping, instead they make things happen. There
are many elements that I believe make a good leader, but just being genuine and
passionate towards a cause is what I believe is most important. The career path I
have chosen to take is in the medical field. My dream from a young age was always
to be a nurse. A nurse is a healthcare professional who is focused on caring for
people, and making sure that they manage, maintain, and recover patients to the
finest state of health (What is Nursing, par.1). Nursing makes up a vast majority of
the healthcare industry. There is a huge range of nursing specialties. Nurses work
in General and surgical Hospitals, doctor s offices, nursing care facilities,
outpatient facilities, and home health services (Why Be a Nurse, par. 2). Nursing
is an extremely flexible career, with one hundred and four specialties and a lot of
advanced nursing degrees, so there is something for everyone in this field (Why Be
a Nurse, par. 4). Nurses do much more than just help people heal physically. Nurses
are there to make sure patients are taken care of physically and emotionally. There

The Incredible Life of Samuel Houston
On March 2, 1793 Sam Houston was born on the family plantation in Rockbridge
County, Virginia. His father s name was also Samuel Houston and his mother was
Elizabeth Houston. He was of Scotch Irish decent and the family was Presbyterian.
He received a simple education at a school which he only attended for only about
six months. When Houston was thirteen his father died. Because of the loss, in the
spring of 1807 he and his mother along with his five brothers and three sisters to
Maryville in Blount County in Eastern Tennessee were the family established a
farm on a tributary of Baker s Creek. Houston went to a nearby school for the time.
In 1809 Houston ran away to the Cherokees in 1809 because he did not want to
work on the family farm or the store the family ran. He went across the Tennessee
River and lived with the Cherokees for three years with Chief Oolooteka who
adopted him and gave him the Indian name Colonneh, which means the Raven.
Houston viewed him as a father and the tribe as a surrogate family. Because of this
he had great sympathy for Native Americans for the rest of his life. In 1812
Houston moved back to Maryville and opened a one room school house to repay
some debts he owed. Later that year, when war broke out with Britain, Houston
enlisted in the army as a private at the age of twenty. Within four months he was
promoted to ensign of the infantry. He was a member of Andrew Jackson s army. He
fought in the battle of Horseshoe Bend on the
The Chicago Cubs Analysis
Like they ve done so many times this year, the Chicago Cubs turned to Aroldis
Chapman with the game on the line Sunday night. But with the season in the balance,
the star closer was tasked with doing something he d never done before: secure the
final eight outs.
Forty two pitches later, Chapman delivered and the Cubs staved off elimination with
a 3 2 victory over the Cleveland Indians at Wrigley Field. The win, fueled by an
offensive outburst from Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo, was Chicago s first home
Series victory since October 8, 1945. The Cubs now head to Cleveland down 3 2 in
the best of seven Series.

But the offensive damage was already done.
Sometimes you ve got to respect what the other team can do, too, Francona said.
Sometimes they beat you. I didn t think we beat ourselves. I thought they beat us.
Lester ran into trouble again in the sixth, allowing an RBI single that fell just in front
of the diving Dexter Fowler. Maddon pulled his starter at just 90 pitches, turning
briefly to right hander Carl Edwards Jr. to start the seventh. The move was short
lived, though, as Chapman was immediately warming up.
A single, a passed ball and a fly out were all Maddon needed to see. The switch was
made and the pressure of a one run lead plus 108 years of history suddenly rested on
Chapman s shoulders.
I didn t expect to come in so early, but I mentally prepared myself, Chapman said
after the game. I physically prepared myself to come in as early as possible ... and I
was ready to come in at a moment s notice.
The Cubs asked a lot of their superstar closer, but he answered emphatically,
slamming the door shut and, in doing so, extending the Series at least one game
Therapeutic Recreational Types Of Therapeutic Recreation
What does therapeutic recreation mean to me? Therapeutic recreation is a process
that utilizes recreation and education as a way to enable a being with any type of
disorder, mentally, physically or emotionally. My personal belief is that recreation
can be used to help anyone become happier or more comfortable than they already
are. To put it simply, I believe that therapeutic recreation is a very organized way to
help people, no matter the circumstance, without prejudices, or discrimination, and
judgments. It doesn t matter whether the person was born with a disability, physically
or mentally, or even if they were born with no disability and are considered to be
clinically healthy , I believe as a TR representative it is our job to improve the
lives of others in any way we possibly can because if someone isn t as happy as they
can be we theoretically can at least try to help. Although I have yet to work in a
therapeutic recreational type environment, I feel that I have learned many helpful
skills that translate from other fields that I can apply to the field of TR. This past
summer I worked two jobs in two completely different fields from each other and
therapeutic recreation. Working at a bar taught me that you need to be patient and
accommodating to peoples needs and wants. I also learned how big of an impact
you could make on someone s day just by doing the simplest tasks. This is especially
important in TR because our goal fully revolves around improving health and
Media Ethics Essay
Introduction
Media ethics refers to a comprehensive set of standards and principles that govern the
way journalism and media reporting is practiced. The issue of media ethics has
resurfaced in recent years due to how media coverage has been reshaped due to the
speed and manner of news dissemination through social media and the Internet. There
are several ethical theories that journalists across all media must apply to situations
they face in order to report a fair and unbiased story such as truthfulness, conflict of
interest, sensationalism, accuracy and authenticity of photographs.
Ethical problems can be summarized under two categories; errors of omission and
errors of commission. Errors of omission refers to journalists practicing their role
as models of truthfulness and accuracy by not allowing outside influences on their
work, such as downplaying a story as not to upset a high powered person, or
allowing sources to preview and suggest edits to a story in order. Errors of
commission refer to actions such as conflicts of interest, bribery, sensationalism and
so on. These errors have real life consequences such as placing lives in danger,
reducing the quality of journalism, and propagating harmful ideas.

While all media outlets work for profit, a code of ethics must still govern over the
way they report stories and get their sources. Unfortunately, this is not always the
case. During the infamous Charlie Hebdo attacks in France, french news outlets
were in a frenzy trying to report updates on the attacks. These news outlets reported
were people were hiding while the attacks on the Charlie Hebdo headquarters were
still taking place. These hostages eventually sued these news outlets for endangering
their lives. In an attempt to keep up with the speed of news dissemination on social
media, these news outlets put people s lives in danger for the cost of a
Anatomy And Physiology Study Guide
1.Distinguish between anatomy and physiology
Anatomy is the study of the structure and shape for the body and its parts and their
relationship to one another. Anatomy is most commonly related to gross anatomical
studies because in these studies preserved animals and their organs are dissected and
examined. And microscopic anatomy is the study of body structures that can only be
seen through a microscope. Physiology is the study of how the body and its parts
work or function. Physiology is similar to anatomy in a way that they have many
subdivisions. Physiology has; neurophysiology which explain the function of the
nervous system. It also has cardiac physiology which is the study of the heart.

English Essay There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the
inside of a man. Winston Churchill. Horses not only inspire their riders, but also the
spectators. The art of equestrian is generally disregarded as a competitive sport.
Being a rider not only takes raw talent but also devotion, skill, concentration,
knowledge, and strength. With a variety of riding styles, it s difficult to express
which one is superior to the others. There is tension between the horsemen with
different riding styles; each believe their accomplishments take more skill. Western

The Incarceration Of Women Prisons
Women Incarceration in US prisons
Incarceration of women in United States prisons due to drugs related cases is
increasing at an alarming rate. Incarceration serves as one of the main punishment
and rehabilitation of drugs related offenses. While some are in to drugs abuse and
trade willingly, others are innocently involved. It could be because of being used to
distribute on behalf of their husbands or boyfriends, or even by simply living with
people who are involved in the trade. In fact, 70% are those imprisoned due to non
violent drug related crimes (American Jail Association. 2014).
Life of women in prison is faced with a lot of challenges than that of men. First of all,
bearing in mind that most of these women have young children to take care of, it is
quite devastating to be separated from their babies. Such undergo psychological
trauma which weighs them down to almost unrecoverable state. Especially those
caught under conspiracy laws find the judgment quite harsh because they could be
totally innocent. Living with a husband or a boyfriend who deals with drugs doesn t
mean that they conspire. It could all along be happening in high secrecy such that the
wife or girlfriend doesn t know their partners involvement. When a woman is caught
and incarcerated under such a circumstance, they will definitely suffer
psychologically. This doesn t mean that others caught under conspiracy or even direct
trade of drugs do not suffer. They equally suffer psychologically because there

your financial institution when you are traveling outside of the country. ATM stands
for automated teller machine and they are more convenient than going to financial

The Removal, By Vasco Pratolini
Vasco Pratolini was born on Via de Magazzini in Florence, Italy in 1913. Growing
up poor between the two world wars, he grew to understand Florence and its
inhabitants in a way that would later shine in nearly all of his novels and stories.
Pratolini relies on making himself seen through his stories as well. A self taught
writer, Pratolini grew up in a poor family. In his short story The Removal , Vasco
describes the plight of he and his grandmother as they are forced out of their
apartment when a wealthier couple decides to move in. This is just one example of
how Pratolini s stories sway towards the autobiographical. Two of Pratolini s most
famous works, Metello and Family Chronicle are representations of Pratolini s
morals and personal beliefs in Matello, and life experiences in Family Chronicle.

feelings towards his brother. Early in the brother s relationship, his character says
when speaking about him, You, in that sense, belonged to her. You were dead with

Negotiation Theory Essay
NEGOTIATION Negotiation theory Last updated 9 months ago The foundations of
negotiation theory are decision analysis, behavioral decision making, game theory,
and negotiation analysis. Another classification of theories distinguishes between
Structural Analysis, Strategic Analysis, Process Analysis, Integrative Analysis and
behavioral analysis of negotiations. Individuals should make separate, interactive
decisions; and negotiation analysis considers how groups of reasonably bright
individuals should and could make joint, collaborative decisions. These theories are

Therefore the parties have contradicting incentives to cooperate or defect. If one
party cooperates or makes a concession and the other does not, the defecting party
might relatively gain more. Trust may be built only in repetitive games through
the emergence of reliable patterns of behaviour such as tit for tat. This table
illustrates the options and possible outcomes of the Negotiator s Dilemma. Process
Analysis Process analysis is the theory closest to haggling. Parties start from two
points and converge through a series of concessions. As in strategic analysis, both
sides have a veto (e.g. sell, not sell; pay, not pay). Process analysis also features
structural assumptions, because one side may be weaker or stronger (e.g. more
eager to sell, not willing to pay a certain price). Process Analysis focuses on the
study of the dynamics of processes. E.g. both Zeuthen and Cross tried to find a
formula in order to predict the behaviour of the other party in finding a rate of
concession, in order to predict the likely outcome. The process of negotiation
therefore is considered to unfold between fixed points: starting point of discord, end
point of convergence. The so called security point, that is the result of optional
withdrawal, is also taken into account. Integrative Analysis Integrative analysis
divides the process into successive stages, rather than talking about

Pet Meds
The Role of Pet Meds in Taking Care of your Pet s Health and their Well Being
By pet options
Dec 24, 2011
Taking care of a pet is always an important task because they are just like us, the
humans. In particular, when we have a pet at home, we need to give the basic care
and comfort to them. What you need to do is just organized way of taking care of
them. You don t need to toil a lot if you are systematic in taking care of them. We
certainly may need all the necessary pet items when we own a pet because it needs
maximum comfort and care. You cannot just ignore their needs. Moreover, you don t
need to worry a lot about this. When you can avail pet supplies out there in the
market at reasonable rates, why you need to panic? You can have a wonderful time
with your pets if you pay attention on such things.
Keeping all sorts of essential pet meds at home is more than a necessity. You never
know when the pet is going to fall sick. It does not mean that you have to keep all
the medication at home; however, you must have at least all the necessary
medications at home. Medications for flea, stomach illness, cold, vomiting, and

Using Fixed And Variable Costs Within The Report
Exhibit 2 contains both fixed and variable costs within the report. Other costs we
must look at is the opportunity of the purchased computer equipment, which has a
value of roughly $25,500. The leased computer equipment cannot be cancelled,
thus we consider it a sunk cost and do not take it into consideration. Next, we look
at the purpose of creating PDS. The purpose was to help deregulate PTC and
rescind the push through of a rate increase. If they shut down PDS, PTC would
have to pay the market rate for their data needs, which will increase this cost by two
fold. Additional issues to take into consideration are the burdens of finding alternate
use for the space PDS is currently renting and the opportunity cost of wages being
paid to the PDS employees. Can we invest the wage pay somewhere else for a higher
return? Asking these questions demonstrates the value of looking at PDS in depth to
determine if more value exists than appears within the initial reports.
Digging deeper, the first number we examine is how many computer hours PDS has
to sell to break even. We will assume the intercompany hours billed at $400 will
average 205 per month. The variable costs include power, parts of operation wages,
and materials. Next, we calculate the unit contribution (sales variable cost). The
average cost for power is the total 3 month power cost divided by the total time
computers were used during this time (total revenue plus service hours) or 5028/1110
= $4.53. Operations cost
History of Astronomy
HISTORY OF ASTRONOMY
Astronomy is the oldest of the natural sciences, dating back to antiquity, with its
origins in the religious, mythological, and astrological practices of pre history:
vestiges of these are still found in astrology, a discipline long interwoven with public
and governmental astronomy, and not completely disentangled from it until a few
centuries ago in the Western World . In some cultures astronomical data was used for
astrological prognostication.
Ancient astronomers were able to differentiate between stars and planets, as stars
remain relatively fixed over the centuries while planets will move an appreciable
amount during a comparatively short time.

Ancient Indian astrology is based upon sidereal calculation. The sidereal astronomy
is based upon the stars and the sidereal period is the time that it takes the object to
make one full orbit around the Sun, relative to the stars. It can be traced to the final
centuries BC with the Vedanga Jyotisha attributed to Lagadha, one of the circum
Vedic texts, which describes rules for tracking the motions of the Sun and the Moon
for the purposes of ritual. After formation of Indo Greekkingdoms, Indian astronomy
was influenced by Hellenistic astronomy (adopting the zodiacal signs or rДЃЕ›is).
Identical numerical computations for lunar cycles have been found to be used in
India and in early Babylonian texts.[11]
Astronomy was advanced during the Sunga Empire and many star catalogues were
produced during this time. The Sunga period is known as the Golden age of
astronomy in India .
China
The astronomy of East Asia began in China. Solar term was completed in Warring
States Period. The knowledge of Chinese astronomy was introduced into East Asia.
Astronomy in China has a long history. Detailed records of astronomical observations

  • 2. Research Paper On In Vitro Meat LAYOUT FOR BROCHURE Adele, Gioia, Eugenia, Catherine TITLE: IN VITRO MEAT WHAT IS IN VITRO MEAT? In vitro meat is an animal flesh product that does not bring harm to a developed, living animal in order for it to be produced. Every year, 10 billion animals are killed (this number is increasing) in the US, just to serve humans needs. Implementing In Vitro meat into people s lives will allow people to eat healthier, save lives, and will reduce the emission of greenhouse gasses. In theory, a single cell of an animal can be enough to feed the whole population of the world with meat. Earth s population is predicted to rise to approximately 9 billion, thus finding a sustainable system to today s meat production is critical. INTRODUCING THE PROBLEM: Currently there are 7 billion mouths to feed worldwide, and that number will only increase to 9 billion by 2050. As a result, the demand for meat is expected to grow by more than two thirds, which means we will need to produce 70% more meat on the same amount of land currently being cultivated and harvested for food production. 26% of Earth s ice free surface alone is used just for grazing livestock. Traditional means of producing meat for human consumption suffer from inefficiency. On average, animal protein production in the U.S. requires 28 calories of feed for every calorie of meat produced, according to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Stem cells are distinguished from other cell types by two important characteristics. First, they are unspecialized cells that can renew themselves through cell division, sometimes after long periods of inactivity. Second, under certain physiologic or experimental conditions, they can be induced to become tissue or organ specific cells with special
  • 3. Sierra Leone Civil War Essay Sierra Leone s modern history is one that is full of issues which were prevalent throughout the latter part of the 20th century. This small country has struggled to maintain a proper footing. Unfortunately, it took multiple coups and a violent civil war for Sierra Leone to reach a somewhat stable state socially. These issues may be largely due to the country s strange origins. This essay will be discussing some of the events that lead up to the brutal civil war and the war itself. Several indigenous groups lived in the country prior to British colonisation, as it was for many areas in Africa. Beginning in 1797, freed slaves (known as Creoles) were brought to Sierra Leone after the banning of British slavery(britannica.com). These people were given the English language and religion to ensure they d be connected socially. But, without a proper culture to unify the Creoles of the country, there isn t a true sense of identity. British rule later left Sierra... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On globalsecurity.org, the writers state that, On 30 November 1996, President Kabbah signed the Abidjan Peace Agreement with the Revolutionary United Front. This agreement sought to unite the country under peace by giving the RUF roles in government. However, a coup led by a portion of the army, known as the AFRC, put many high ranking officials out of office and incorporated the RUF into their newly taken government to lead (globalsecurity.org). The United Nations later has to step in to fix the broken country. To prevent the importation of weapons and military materials, the United Nations placed an embargo on the country of Sierra Leone. Neighbouring African countries and the UN deployed troops to neutralise the hostile Sierra Leone traitors and the Revolutionary United Front, finally leading to the war s end on 18 January 2002 (globalsecurity.org). This allows for former government officials to reclaim their positions in

  • 5. Tobacco Free Policy Essay Unquestionably, there is a problem in the US Army with drafting and implementing strong tobacco policies at the local level. Currently, US Army installations draft polices that do not comply with federal law and Department of Defense (DoD) regulations. There is a lack of consistency and enforcement in tobacco policies across commands (Jahnke et al., 2011). The Department of Defense has an opportunity to standardize a strong tobacco free policy that can be implemented at the local level to combat the rate of tobacco use for overall health and physical readiness within the force. Presently, in the Army 17% of Soldiers were classified as not medically ready for deployment and 32% of Soldiers reported tobacco use (Bell et al., 2015). The prevalence of tobacco use in the military and especially in the US Army is an enormous health care burden. Unfortunately, tobacco use in the military is pervasive and current federal law for tobacco in federal workplaces (Executive Order 13058) and DoD regulations (AR 600 63) are not being implemented or enforced. Tobacco use still continues to be a cultural norm even though Soldiers are required to meet physical health standards (medical readiness). Prevalence of cardiovascular disease/COPD is high within the U.S. Army population and can be linked to tobacco use. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tobacco free medical campuses and hospitals have become a common practice, since 2009, 45% of US hospitals have adopted a smoke free campus policy (Williams et al., 2009). The current climate, cost, and impact within the workforce population is ideal for establishing a benchmark for reducing the rates of tobacco use across the entire US Army population. The policy would reach a much larger target audience to include veterans who visit the medical facilities on

  • 7. Analysis Of La Lengua De Las Mariposas I chose to watch the movie La Lengua de las Mariposas; which translates to The Tongue of the Butterflies . I did not know what movie to watch originally but I remembered learning the word mariposas from my high school Spanish teacher. Also, this movie came up on two separate lists when I searched for a movie to watch for this assignment. When watching this movie, I tried to listen very carefully to find words or phrases I knew. I had to watch the full movie in Spanish without subtitle, neither in English nor Spanish. I could understand about one in every four sentences. However, I do not believe that impaired or hindered my understanding of the movie. I could follow along with the movie by catching phrases here and there, as well as watching the actions of the actors carefully. For instance, the movie was released in 1999, mentioned in the title, but from a scene in the movie I was able to determine that the setting was a small town in Spain in the year 1936. In this movie I detected two running themes. The first was the progression of a new era in a young boys life; he started school. The young boy, Mancho, was nervous and afraid on his first day of school. In fact, he ended wetting himself when called to the front of the class by the teacher. This scene and the way his mother acted when dropping him off, making sure to talk to the teacher about his difficulty breathing, made it clear that it wasn t just the start of a new year but the first time he was able to go to

The Aztecs lived in Central Mexico during the 1300s to 1500s. Historians debate whether agriculture or human sacrifice is the thing that the Aztecs should be known for. Historians should emphasize agriculture because they had a brilliant structure for their chinampas, it was so important that they had gods for their agriculture, and they succeeded in ruling their empire because of it. The Aztecs were very innovative and had created an organized way of growing their crops. They built islands called chinampas, where most of them farmed and lived. The Aztecs had innovated a new and different way of cultivating crops on their chinampas. According

Vincent dreams to go to space, and with the help of Jerome, Vincent can reach his goal. As one watchers Gattaca many aspects of film are used and the combination of sound, shot selections, and lighting creates the movie world we know as Gattaca. The sounds of Gattaca are for the most part silenced, what one would think to be loud is some what dumbed down, or muffled, This makes the mise en scene darker, and mysterious. Which is what audiences think through the movie, how mysterious all of Gattaca is. One scene in particular that shows of effective this technique is, is in the opening scene. Objects are falling and it is very hard to make out what is happening, but all is silent so there are no hints as to what the audience is seeing. As it rolls on we see that these objects are actually hair and nail clippings and leaves the audience wondering what these have to do with the movie. Another example of shot selection is the uses of close ups, on people and objects. These shots make the scene it is used in more intense and it highlights key things that could show Vincent s true

  • 11. UPS Strike Essay UPS Strike In early August of 1997 the United Parcel Service (UPS) had a predicament on its hands, a teamsters strike. UPS, the world s largest package distribution company was coming off a year [1996] in which they reported sales of $22.4 billion. UPS Employed 75,000 management and non union employees compared with 185,000 teamsters who are part of the AFL CIO that were going on strike. The current pension plan benefited thousands of teamsters retirees that never even worked for UPS . Basically, UPS wanted UPS dollars to go to UPS people (UPS vs Teamsters). Before the strike, in many regions UPS participated in multi employer benefit plans in which several shipping employers jointly pay for employee benefits. If one employer goes out of business or gets behind on payments, the other employers must compensate for the loss. This explains why it is said that UPS pays for the retirement and benefits of people that never worked for them (Business News New Jersey). Another issue in negotiations was full time versus part time positions. UPS employees argued that too many workers were working 35 45 hours a week, often at two different jobs, for part time pay. Having about two thirds of all teamsters being part time this was a central issue. They wanted these part time positions to be converted into full time positions. UPS claimed that it did not want to guarantee full time positions because of fluctuations in work and wants flexibility for competitive reasons (UPS vs Teamsters). Along with full time positions and the pension arguments, strikers wanted limits on giving work to subcontractors, and health and safety improvements. John Cortez, a warehouseman for UPS has been surviving for five years on the
  • 12. Rabbit Proof Fence Sociology Rabbit proof fence directed by Phillip Noyce is a film about a true story involving three half cast Aboriginal young girls from a school they were obliged to attend, far away from their hometown under the laws made by A.O.Neville a government official. In 1931, they were taken away from their mothers and were forcibly moved to the Moore River Settlement School in Perth, Western Australia. They were educated in the British ways eventually to become servants and compulsorily had to adapt to a new culture, while forgetting about their native traditions and morals. The government considered half casts as children which they felt responsible for taking them to established schools where they were to be educated one of the schools being the Moore River Settlement. Some of the important challenges of the Exascale computing are, Challenges due to scale and complexity of system Previously the power of super computers has grown by doubling the clock frequency. The shift to multicore Exascale systems will require applications to exploit million way parallelism and overcome significant reductions in the bandwidth and volume of memory available to each CPU. There is another looming shift in the complexity of the node architectures that will be as big a challenge to software development as the exponential growth in processors. This is the potential shift to heterogeneous node architectures. The major challenges caused by the increasing scale and complexity HPC systems are cross cutting of the entire software stack. The software challenges include the rapid increase in parallelism, the memory wall, system heterogeneity and fault tolerance. Increasing Parallelism The tremendous increase of system concurrency from hundreds of thousands to hundreds of millions will be a big challenge for system software to manage and for applications to get good performance at this level of parallelism. As we all know that almost all of today s large scale applications use the message passing programming model (MPI) together with traditional sequential languages (C, Fortran, C++), but the new architectures with many cores per chip and parallelism in the millions will make this programming model more problematic and less productive in the future. Thus a new approach is needed. Like
  • 14. Nelson Mandela Analysis The relationship that develops between Nelson Mandela and Francois Pienaar in the movie Invictus suggests how crucial of a role they play as leaders to the people of South Africa. Even though, Pienaar is white and Mandela is black, they both work towards uniting a divided nation despite their differences. Regarding Nelson Mandela, he uses his voice and presidential power to find a way in which he can unite the whites and blacks of South Africa. When he discovers that sports, particularly rugby, can be used as a method to unite the people of South Africa to cheer for one team despite how divided its people may be, it signifies how influential and wise of a leader he is to the people of South Africa. This is so inspiring for me because he found an interest that both the whites and blacks of South Africa have in common that will help bridge the gap between them despite their troubled history with each other. Some characteristics of Mandela that indicate how influential of a leader he became for the people of South Africa is because of his transparence, empathy, courtesy, and humility. Mandela served as such a vital figure as a leader in uniting South Africa through his devotion to the rugby team. He understood how influential this team was to the entire nation, and he made every effort to establish a close relationship with the team by frequently meeting and speaking with the players and attending their games. Due to his valiant efforts, he did everything he could to help inspire the team by investing so much time into their success as a leader to the point where they felt that they would have failed the entire nation had they not won the World Cup. Now, this surge of success among the rugby team was ignited by the captain of the team himself, Francois Pienaar. Francois Pienaar developed into a very crucial leader for not only the South African rugby team, but for the people of South Africa. He not only led the rugby team to success on the field, but due to his close relationship with Mandela he was able to inspire and motivate his teammates towards winning the World Cup. For Pienaar, winning the World Cup meant so much more to him than simply having the opportunity to hold up a trophy, but rather to provoke

One of the ways students deal with the pressure of ongoing assignments, papers, and various projects is to simply listen to music. Music is very popular to our specific age group, but is consuming different styles of music necessarily a healthy alternate to the stress? How does music affect the heart rateand what different types of music have a greater affect on heart rate? Music most definitely has emotional value. When our subjects listened to heavy metal music, their heart rates increased on average. When our subjects listened to classical music, their heart rates decreased on average, below resting heart rate. Our tables do not show the negative side of the spectrum, but still show the percent change in heart rate, which is what we were trying to accomplish. Due to classical music actually lowering heart rate, our hypothesis was not proven complete. Relate back to our hypothesis. We hypothesized that fast tempo music would increase heart rates while slower paced music will keep heart rate at about the same. Still, if you relate back to the table and Chart A, we have still conducted positive evidence to prove that music does play a role in a change of heart rates. Each subject did experience a change in heart rate, both positive and negative. This experiment does relate back to the original real world issue of heart rate. Being able to understand how to control heart rate is very important. If someone has heart problems or an irregular heart beat they need to be aware of certain music that could potentially be harmful to them. Like wise, if someone were trying to be in a good mood or simply be hyper, they would enjoy listening to high

Today, St. Lucia is a multicultural democracy which became independent from English rule in 1979. This conflict of these two European powers is a theme which Walcott carries over to the story. In other words, liberalismpromotes government assistance for individuals in need as well as protect every individual s rights. One aspect of my life that has shaped my political views is my religious background. I grew up in a Baptist family, and used to go to church regularly. As I got older, I started going to church less and less because the things my pastor said made me feel very uncomfortable. At the time, I did not understand why I felt so uncomfortable and it was not until I got older that I realized why I felt the way I did. Majority of the time, my pastor said things that had sexist and homophobic undertones. Despite being in a holy place, I spent the duration of my time as a member of the church feeling disconnected from everything, which eventually led to me breaking ties with the church completely. My family s financial background also helped in shaping my views. When I was younger, my family received financial assistance from the government in the form of CHIPs and food stamps. I was too young to remember how food stamps benefited my family, but I do remember the many ways in which CHIPs helped us out. For example, I grew up having terrible

Diet Mediated And Transgenerational Epigenetic Effects Diet Mediated and Transgenerational Epigenetic Effects An offspring s microbial composition is initially determined through maternal transmission in utero and during birth, however, after delivery, the microbiota is not fixed and may be changed by a multitude of environmental factors. The mode of delivery (vaginal or caesarean section), diet, and many other factors continue to play dynamic roles throughout an individual s lifetime (Marques et al., 2010). Recent studies have indicated that maternal and neonatal nutrition significantly alter the epigenome of offspring, with the food consumed during pregnancy modulating the gut microbiota as well as the metabolites produced (Turnbaugh et al., 2009). Dietary intervention studies indicate that the diet sensitive nature of the gut persists throughout life, and that the gut microbiota often responds rapidly to changes in diet (Hullar Fu, 2014). More specifically, dietary alterations modulate the exposure of the host to microbial metabolites (such as butyrate) which could have a multiplicity of epigenetic effects in the offspring (Duncan et al., 2007). Not only do the foods consumed during pregnancy alter the epigenetic marks of offspring, significant evidence is showing that those epigenetic marks can have transgenerational effects (Heard Martienssen, 2014). One recent study showed that children of obese fathers were at a higher risk of developing obesity themselves. The epigenetic marks of lean and obese men showed similar

Hayao Miyazaki was born on January 5, 1941 in a town called Akebono cho in BunkyЕЌ, Tokyo. His father ran a business that manufactured plane rudders during World War II. At the age of 3, Miyazaki s family had to evacuate numerous times to escape bombings in their area. Miyazaki aspired to become a manga artist when he was in junior high, but he was not good at drawing people, so instead he drew planes, tanks, and ships. • 29. What Is The Difference Between Self-Concept And Self Esteem The difference between self concept and self esteem is that the self concept refers to educational settings. Basically self concept is the perceptions of an individual s knowledge and ability in activities like athletics, math, reading, science, and friendships (Bohlin, Durwin, Reese Weber, page 53). According to the book, the relationship between academic self concept and achievement is complementary, because while more positive self concept more higher achievements and while more higher achievements more positive self concept. For example, if a person has positive self concept is more likely to have high achievements. I as a Mexican immigrant, reinforce my own self concept every day because the concept that many people have about Mexican immigrants in this country is too bad. Some people in the United States have the Mexicans in the concept of lazy people that do not like to study. This concept gives me the strength to learn new things, love myself and know what I am able to achieve by myself. Self concept affects learning in different ways. For example, as immigrant my daughter did not have many academic opportunities and financial aid available for her, but because she knew what she is capable to achieve, she looked for different programs that might help her financially. She graduate from college last year and she finished her fist year at San Jose State. She never gives up and all the time looked for new opportunities because she has a positive healthy self concept.

A fatherless Micheal Oher is left in the care of his drug addicted mother in the gang filled projects of Memphis. But soon things are about to change for him. Through a series of events he is accepted into Wingate Christian School, which is an exclusive private school, even though his education level did not meet their standards. During the attendance at Wingate he meets the Tuohy family who take him in and help him succeed in high school, college, and reach his professional football career as he became the first round pick of the Baltimore Ravens in the 2009 NFL draft. The Blind Side uses detailed scenes amplified by dialogue and symbolism to portray the theme of judging a person by their appearance and past verses judging them by their character and abilities. The first time this theme is displayed is after Tony Hamilton, father of Steven, goes to Wingate in order to get his son Steven a better education. After prospecting his son Steven as an all star sports player to coach Cotton, Tony tells the coach that not only does he want his son, Steven, to attend Wingate but he also would like Big Mike(Michael Oher) to attend. This table illustrates the options and possible outcomes of the Negotiator s Dilemma. Process Analysis Process analysis is the theory closest to haggling. Parties start from two points and converge through a series of concessions. As in strategic analysis, both sides have a veto (e.g. sell, not sell; pay, not pay). Process analysis also features structural assumptions, because one side may be weaker or stronger (e.g. more eager to sell, not willing to pay a certain price). Process Analysis focuses on the study of the dynamics of processes. The process of negotiation therefore is considered to unfold between fixed points: starting point of discord, end point of convergence. Other costs we must look at is the opportunity of the purchased computer equipment, which has a value of roughly $25,500. The leased computer equipment cannot be cancelled, thus we consider it a sunk cost and do not take it into consideration. Next, we look at the purpose of creating PDS. The purpose was to help deregulate PTC and rescind the push through of a rate increase. If they shut down PDS, PTC would have to pay the market rate for their data needs, which will increase this cost by two fold. Additional issues to take into consideration are the burdens of finding alternate use for the space PDS is currently renting and the opportunity cost of wages being paid to the PDS employees. Can we invest the wage pay somewhere else for a higher return? Asking these questions demonstrates the value of looking at PDS in depth to determine if more value exists than appears within the initial reports. Digging deeper, the first number we examine is how many computer hours PDS has to sell to break even. We will assume the intercompany hours billed at $400 will average 205 per month. The variable costs include power, parts of operation wages, and materials. Next, we calculate the unit contribution (sales variable cost). The average cost for power is the total 3 month power cost divided by the total time computers were used during this time (total revenue plus service hours) or 5028/1110 = $4.53. Operations cost

History of Astronomy HISTORY OF ASTRONOMY Astronomy is the oldest of the natural sciences, dating back to antiquity, with its origins in the religious, mythological, and astrological practices of pre history: vestiges of these are still found in astrology, a discipline long interwoven with public and governmental astronomy, and not completely disentangled from it until a few centuries ago in the Western World . In some cultures astronomical data was used for astrological prognostication. Ancient astronomers were able to differentiate between stars and planets, as stars remain relatively fixed over the centuries while planets will move an appreciable amount during a comparatively short time. Early history Early cultures identified celestial objects with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The original mechanism is displayed in the Bronze collection of the National Archaeological Museum of Athens, accompanied by a replica. India Ancient Indian astrology is based upon sidereal calculation. The sidereal astronomy is based upon the stars and the sidereal period is the time that it takes the object to make one full orbit around the Sun, relative to the stars. It can be traced to the final centuries BC with the Vedanga Jyotisha attributed to Lagadha, one of the circum Vedic texts, which describes rules for tracking the motions of the Sun and the Moon for the purposes of ritual. After formation of Indo Greekkingdoms, Indian astronomy was influenced by Hellenistic astronomy (adopting the zodiacal signs or rДЃЕ›is). Identical numerical computations for lunar cycles have been found to be used in India and in early Babylonian texts.[11] Astronomy was advanced during the Sunga Empire and many star catalogues were produced during this time. The Sunga period is known as the Golden age of astronomy in India . China The astronomy of East Asia began in China. Solar term was completed in Warring States Period. The knowledge of Chinese astronomy was introduced into East Asia. Astronomy in China has a long history. Detailed records of astronomical observations were kept from about the 6th century BC,
