Essay Of Friend
Crafting an essay on the topic of friendship presents a unique set of challenges, as it delves into
the intricacies of a deeply personal and subjective experience. Friendship, being a multifaceted
concept, demands a nuanced exploration of emotions, shared experiences, and the evolving
dynamics that characterize human connections.
To begin with, defining the essence of friendship requires a delicate balance between universal
principles and individualized anecdotes. Attempting to encapsulate the essence of friendship
within the confines of an essay proves challenging, given the diverse nature of human
relationships. Each friendship is a tapestry woven with unique threads of understanding, trust,
and companionship, making it intricate and distinctive.
Furthermore, articulating the complexities of friendship involves navigating the vast landscape
of human emotions. Expressing the intangible bonds that bind friends together necessitates a
careful selection of words to capture the depth of sentiments. It requires a delicate dance
between eloquence and authenticity, ensuring that the emotional resonance of the narrative is not
lost amid the words.
The challenge deepens when attempting to strike a balance between objectivity and subjectivity.
An essay on friendship requires a blend of personal anecdotes and broader reflections on the
nature of camaraderie. This intricate dance between the personal and the universal demands a
keen awareness of the essay's intended audience and purpose.
Additionally, the dynamic nature of friendships adds another layer of complexity. The essay
must navigate through the ebbs and flows of relationships, acknowledging that friendships
evolve over time. It's a delicate task to capture the essence of enduring connections while
recognizing the inevitable changes that occur in the journey of human companionship.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the subject of friendship is no simple feat. It requires a
thoughtful exploration of the multifaceted dimensions of human connection, a delicate
expression of emotions, and an artful balance between personal narratives and universal truths. It
is a task that demands both introspection and a keen understanding of the nuances that define
our relationships with others.

The House of Spirits
Life in Affection
Much of The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende revolves around the life of one
of its main characters Esteban Trueba. Esteban Trueba is an aggressive, violent
character whose only goals throughout the novel are to achieve success and power.
The reader sees his brutal nature through the way he deals with people around him,
whom in his eyes are all significantly inferior. However, one minor character in The
House of the Spirits seems to change Trueba s aggressive nature. When Esteban first
meets Transito Soto, she is a prostitute in a brother nearby to his farm in Tres Marias.
However, she soon proves much more worthy. What may seem like an insignificant
meeting at first turns out to affect his life over and ... Show more content on

When Esteban meets Transito for the last time, she is the owner of a huge hotel.
Everything she told him she would do, she did. Here there is a direct parallel
between the rise of Transito, and the fall of Esteban. There is almost a shift of
power between them. When Esteban meets Transito, he asks her to find Alba for
him, since she has been kidnapped by his grandson Esteban Garcia. He spilled his
heart to Transito Soto about everything that has gone on in his life since they last
met. He begs her to find his only granddaughter, so he can bring her home safe. She
does exactly what he asks of her. Esteban comments on her success saying, Transito
Soto has gotten where she has, because among other things, she knows how to pay
her debts. I supposed she used her knowledge of the most secret side of men in
power to return the 50 pesos I once lent her. (Allende, 421) Transito Soto s
character signifies distinct periods in Esteban s life. When he first meets her, he is
just starting out in Tres Marias. He is somewhat lost and has no one at his side.
When he meets her at the Christopher Columbus, he is at the peak of his financial
and marital success. The love of his life, Clara, is pregnant with twin boys, he is one
of the richest men in the area, and leads the life he thought he always wanted. It is
in this stage of his life where his decline begins. Transito Soto begins to gain power,
as the madam is overthrown and she starts her own business. By the
The Problem And Defining Fitness Function Essay
. Population based search involves evolution of group of points in search space such
as in ant colony optimization and evolutionary computation techniques. The mode of
origin is another basis to distinguish between nature inspired and no nature inspired
metaheuristic algorithm. Evolutionary computation and Ant Colony Optimization
belongs to the class of nature inspired whereas tabu search and iterated local search
belongs to the class of non nature inspired algorithms. Metaheuristicalgorithms are
also known as search based techniques or optimization algorithmswhich when
applied to software engineering problems gave rise to Search Based Software
Engineering (SBSE) [3] which reformulates software engineering problems as search
problems. It is a collective attempt to shift from human based search to machine
based search by applying search based optimization techniques. These methods
encompass representation of problem and defining fitness function. SBSE treats
search problem as one where optimal or near optimal solution are sought in a search
space of solution by making use of fitness function that discriminates worse and better
solution. Although many researchers, practitioners have applied search based
optimization to software engineering domain, SBSE term was first coined by
Harman and Jones [3] in 2001 in their work which advocates Search Based
Optimization as a general approach to Software Engineering. A number of SBSE

Piercing Procedure Research Paper
Once you ve decided to get a piercing, the next step is figuring out who should do
the job. It s important to choose your artist carefully, since the wrong one could
leave you with a variety of bloodborne illnesses, including HIV. Ask around for
recommendations and examine your chosen facility with your own eyes before
consenting to a piercing procedure. When checking out your potential piercer, here
are three things they absolutely need to be: licensed, insured and immaculately
clean. With apologies to Meatloaf, two out of three simply isn t good enough when
choosing a piercer. Find someone who possesses all three of these qualities before
having your piercing done.
Licensed
When performing a body piercing, it is important for the artist to know where
certain nerves and other important anatomical structures are located. Piercing is
risky when done improperly, leading many cities to legislate who may and may not
perform the procedure. In order to operate legally in these places, a piercing parlor
must meet certain health and safety requirements and submit to periodic
inspections. Those who comply are issued a license to display so customers know
that the facility has been inspected and is in compliance with all of the related laws
and safety requirements. If an operating license is not displayed, ask to see one
before going any further. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Verify that your potential piercer has insurance that specifically covers piercing
work. This insurance protects you by ensuring that your artist has adequate
coverage to pay your expenses in the event of a serious infection or other problem.
If you are at a festival or other event when the mood for a piercing strikes you,
verify that the piercer s insurance coverage applies when he is working outside of
his permanent studio. It is also wise to make sure any guest artists are also covered
before letting one perform your piercing.
Why The Automobile Is A Great Feat
When thinking of an automobile the first thing that comes to many people s minds
is transportation. The automobile is a great feat in engineering that leads to the
ability to connect the cities of the world in an easier way that everyone can own.
Most people though, when thinking about automobiles, do not think about the
heart of the automobile, the engine. The engine is the thing that drives the
automobile forward and pumps the power through the transmission and to the
wheels to produce the outstanding acceleration that we feel. The engine is a great
piece of machinery, but is very fragile. It always needs proper oil and coolant. Oil
is very important to an engine; it cools the engine, cleans the engine, lubricates the
engine, and creates compression in the engine. The average mileage anyone
should drive on an oil change is three thousand miles. That is the peak distance at
which the oil will start to become full of foreign particles and the filter will not be
able to properly clean this oil. In addition to oil, coolant is very important to an
engine because of the cooling ability that it adds to the engine. Without coolant the
engine will overheat and most possibly blow a head gasket or warp the block. Oil,
coolant and other many factors go into keeping an engine in good running order to
extend its life. Maintaining the fluids and keeping them in good condition is
important to this longevity. The only problem with man made machinery like an
engine is that it will

The Moral Dilemma Of Adolf Hitler
The moral dilemma that I was presented was killing 3 year old Adolf Hitler to
prevent the Holocaust. I can try to change Hitler s mind, but he will still make the
same decision, no matter what. If I decide to kill him or not, I would not be
charged for the murder, which is the plus side of this moral dilemma. After a long
week of thinking about this question, I thought to myself that I could not have the
courage to kill an infant. I have a guilty conscience and if I were to do something
like that, I would not be able to forgive myself. I understand that Hitler s choices
during World War II was inhumane, but it is a part of world history that needs to be
studied and to not be reiterated. On the contrary, if I don t kill him, six million... Show

Since I said that I will not kill Hitler, the Holocaust will still occur. Mentally, I would
have a hard time suffering about me being responsible of other people s lives.
Society uses this tactic to hide their real emotions and build an exterior to block the
bad realities.
And thirdly, I might use the displacement approach, because I would not know how
to relieve my wrath. To clarify, using displacement is when someone pins his/her
troubled feelings towards another object or person; it can also cause more fuel to
the fire in any situation. Since Hitler would be in the wrong as a dictator, it would
make sense to confront him with my feelings about his involvement. Instead, I
might just take my anger out on someone that is around me and probably hurt their
feelings. I know that it is not the best way to vent my rage, but I am being honest if
I were put in that situation. Even if I decided to kill Hitler, I would be very
remorseful, and I would not know how to clear my conscience. Killing someone s
child is a bad deed, but killing to save millions will make someone have a fickle
mindset.
To conclude, I made the decision to not kill three year old Hitler, because I would
not have the nerve to kill someone else s child. Since I won t kill him, the
Holocaust will still take place and I will have a hard time controlling my emotions.
To disguise my real feelings, I would use defense

One of the biggest ethnic group of immigrants was the Chinese. The Chinese flocked
to America. They would often borrow money to make the trip to America and pay the
money back through hard work. The most common jobs for Chinese immigrants were
farming, mining and building railroads. The most common being mining. The
Chinese were considered very hardworking and trust worthy. The Chinese were very
family orientated often sending money back home to their family in china. However,
the Chinese had a common problem. Many of them were addicted to opiates and
other drugs. A large percent of them also had a gambling problem. The average

It covers most of the posterior region of the wall. When a human eye focuses on an
object, the light that is reflected by the object falls on the retina and the image is
formed on the wall. The discrete light receptors that are spread over the wall of the
retina forms the image. These receptors are of two types namely cones and rods.
Cones are less in number approximately 6 to 7 million and are concentrated in the
region called fovea. These cones gives the clear image with fine details because
these have their individual nerve connection where as, the rods give the general
pattern of the image because many rods are connected to one nerve. Rods are
numerous approximately 75 to 150 million which are spread over the wall of the
retina. The interesting phenomena here is that the objects appear as colorless in the
nighttime because only rods get stimulated as the cones are color

that changed my life. On my final jump i landed in 2 cm of snow. That snow wasn t
close enough to what we were jumping into a 2 feet of snow kinda ended and i
landed on that one spot. My left ankel took most of the impact. When i hit the ground
my ankle had a really sharp pain i tried to walk it off but it just got worse and at this
time i had no clue what to do. I kept on yelling for my mom and no one came i was
scared. I started to yell at my friend. This is when my little brother got to the hill
we started to yell at him telling him to go get my mom. When my brother left it
felt like hours went by as i sat there in pain. My mother finally showed up they loaded

Relationship Between Humans And The Environment Essay
Henry ZhengAP World History #4437Summer Assignment 2015 Interactions
Throughout History To start, historical developments throughout the world are
connected across time and cultures. While these connections may be hard to find, one
may understand them through the study of historical themes. There are many
historical themes that can connect multiple cultures together. However, there are
some themes that allow one to understand the complex connections the best:
Interactions Between Humans and the Environment, Development and Interaction
of Cultures, State Building, Expansion, and Conflict, Creation, Expansion, and
Interaction of Economic Systems, and Development and Transformation of Social
Structures. Tom Standage, a renowned author, has written many books on the
advancement of society and has shown the presence of these themes throughout
his books. One of his most famous books, A History of the World in Six Glasses,
shows these themes through the use of six beverages that advanced humans to the
modern day society it is known as today. The world around us is crucial to our
everyday decisions. This was also the case for our ancestors, who had none of the
advanced technology that we have today. They had to plan out their living spaces,
or else risk dying due to a shortage of materials. This is the reason why most people
chose to settle near bodies of water, a constant supply of water to fulfill their
everyday needs. Nowadays, with more recent
Essay about Issues In Psychological Profiling
Issues In Psychological Profiling
Historically, crime and criminals have always caught the attention of law abiding
citizens. Whenever there is mention of serial killers or unsolved murders or
abductions, psychological profiling, floats to the top of the list of concerns (Egger,
1999). Psychological profiling is an attempt to provide investigators with more
information about an offender who has not yet been identified (Egger, 1999). Its
purpose is to develop a behavioral composite that combines both sociological and
psychological assessment of the would be offender. The type of person who could
have committed the crime can often be identified on the premise that accurate analysis

By the mid 1950s, a psychiatrist named Dr. James Brussel, with no prior links to law
enforcement, was asked by the New York City PoliceDepartment to profile the Mad
Bomber of New York (Padbury, n.d.). After studying crime scene evidence and the
bomber s mail to the press, Brussel was able to develop a profile that described the
bomber in detail. He claimed that offender would be heavy set, middle aged, and
foreign born. That he was Roman Catholic, single and lived with a sibling. He
added that when found, the offender would most likely be wearing a buttoned,
double breasted suit. This proved to be very accurate. Brussel went on to aid other
investigative agencies between 1957 and 1972. His work would lead to the arrest
of Albert DeSalvo, the Boston Strangler in 1964 (Padbury, n.d.). It was Brussel s
technique of interpreting bizarre behavior of these killers and then applying his
knowledge of psychiatry to the investigative realities that proved to be a very
effective means to assist law enforcement solve cases such as these (Egger, 1999).
In 1976 and 1977, the Son of Sam terrorized New York City shooting couples as

Banning Assault And Semiautomatic Weapons
Banning Assault and Semiautomatic Weapons
Assault style or automatic weapons have been a common denominator in almost all
fatal mass shootings. It is unnecessary for civilians to purchase automatic weapons
for non military use. If there was a ban on the purchasing of militarized weapons by
civilians, it would decrease the number of fatal mass shootings drastically.
Statistics show that in 2015, there were 372 mass shootings, killing 475 people and
wounding 1,870. Also in 2015, there were 64 school shootings, that number include
incidents where a firearm was shot but no one was injured. There are roughly 300
million guns in the United States, which is about a third of the population. The U.S.
Department of Justice and the Council on Foreign Affairs reported that 11,385
people died on average annually in firearm incidents in the U.S. between 2001 and
2011.
During the 1980 s and 1990 s, there were numerous mass shootings that involved
automatic weapons. An example of one of the first mass shootings in the U.S.
occurred in 1989. Patrick Purdy returned to his elementary school in Stockton,
California armed with an AKS rifle, which is similar to the AK 47, and opened fire.
He killed 5 children and wounded 30 others, and then turned the gun on himself. One
of the most horrific mass
murders in the history of the United States was in San Ysidro, California in a
McDonald s. James Huberty killed 21 people and wounded 19 others. The weapon he
used was an Uzi carbine, which is a
The Study Of Organizational Change
The study of organizational change is a subject that has attracted diverse academic
discourses. Over time and across academia, scholars are concerned with various
aspects change. Moreover, in spite of the various perspectives and conclusions on the
subject matter, there appears to be consensus that indeed, the way change is
introduced in an organization determines the success of the intended projects or
strategic goals of the organization (Williams, 2006). Practically, in most of the
organizations, change is viewed as a bad thing. In other words, managers may not
wish to condone the resistance of their proposed projects since they delay the
achievement of the goals. Hence the salient question to ask is whether resistance to
change is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In both cases, the relevant theories and models are invoked and a suitable synthesis
applied. Conclusions are made and the answer to the essay question reiterated. In the
final analysis, the essay emphasizes on the need to view change resistance in an
alternative manner; as opposed to the traditional demonized approach.
Resistance to Change
In many cases, resistance to change is viewed and analyzed from the managerial
perspective (Schultz Schultz, 2004). From the managerial point of view, resistance to
change is considered as a cause to the delay in the achievement of the organization s
strategic goals. Hence managers are aware of the effects of the resistance to change,
such as wastage of time. As a result, change projects are introduced earlier than the
actual time, so that by the time the management can mobilize consensus on the
proposed change, the ideal time for the commencement of the project is fulfilled.
Hayes (2002) outlines other ways of managing change, such as coercion,
manipulation and dialogue with the employees. At this point, it is also necessary
to realize that change is not only a property of the employees but also an aspect
common with the middle level managers. According to Folger and Skarlicki (1999),
such managers are reprimanded, transferred to given higher positions in order to
allow the change process to take its course. In some cases, employees who resist
change were sacked such as shown below.

Firstly, the study focused on 34 randomly selected classrooms in an elementary
school, so the results of the study does not indicate what would occur in a middle
school or high school setting. Also, the study was not able to observe the exact use
of corrective instruction provided to the student and if the teacher always used the
system appropriately. Lastly, PUBS is a school unified system which includes all
working adults in the school to be involved. The study only focused on the teachers
and inside the classroom and did not observe actions by the adults outside the
classroom and what role they played. (p. 46) In conclusion, the outcome of the
article, by Scott et al. (2009), did support the study s original purpose. Importantly,
the study showed that positive behavior support and reinforcement can be effective
in minimizing classroom behaviors, and consequentially create a better environment
for learning and social growth. Yet, there are implications to this study as the field
of research grows in this area. The effect on academic growth needs to be further
researched and directly linked. Also, the effect on PUBS in middle or high school
settings needs to be examined. (p.
Fifty Shades Of Grey Themes
Fifty Shades of Grey is an elaborate film that ties love and romance with bondage and
discipline, dominance and submission, sadism and masochism (BDSM) (Leistner
Mark, 2016). This movie has a push/pull romantic relationship with an university
senior Anastasia (Ana) Steele and a muiti millionaire Christian Grey. Ana and
Christian are instantly attracted to each other however, their relationship throughout
the movie tends to be strictly sexually based. Ana is a hopeless romantic and
Christian is a sadistic lover, which causes Christian to become apprehensive about
Ana and send Ana on a course that ultimately causes her to try everything in her
power to prevent that resistance. This begins to draw them closer together, but Ana

This is depicted throughout the entire film, from the first time the main characters
have sex all way to the end of the film. In addition, the role that each gender plays in
the movie is another theme that was portrayed in the film. BDSM within the film is
expressed as pleasurable and something that everyone will enjoy. With all the whips,
toys and ties that are mentioned or said within in the film it sounds amusing for
anyone. In addition, the contract (De Luca Johnson, 201) that is a fundamental base
line for Christian to be involved with Ana is poorly portrayed. Within the movie it is
seen not as a consent between both the dominant and submissive, however it is a rule
that is turned into a living, breathing, and at times uncomfortable interpersonal
experiences (Laurie Kean, 2015). In reality, this consent is something that both the
dominant and submissive agree to that will and will not happen when being involved
in BDSM not something that will alter one s life. BDSM is based on trust and
communication between the dominant and the submissive, which was lacked in the
film. Ana agreed to situations that she didn t know she was putting herself in, for
example punishment that Ana was going to receive because she was out of line (De
Luca Johnson, 2015). Here in the movie it was shown as whipping using a leather
belt on the butt, the tears and faces that she was making whilst it was happening
showed that it was not pleasurable. Here once again, BDSM was not presented
correctly. Research suggests that an important factor in maintaining sexual
satisfaction and relationship satisfaction is being able to communicate effectively
(Leistner, Mark, 2016), this is why at the end of the film, Ana ended the relationship
because communication was not there and she felt hurt and betrayed rather than

Recruitment issues
According to Dowling and Schuler 1990 (as cited in Greenidge, Alleyne, Parris,
Grant, 2012) recruitment is the search for and acquisition of potential job
candidates in sufficient numbers and quality. Now, in an age where skills shortage
and an ever increasing demand for them is no longer news, the importance of the
recruitment process comes to the fore, to the extent of looking at this process now
as the McKinsey Company 1997 report (as cited in Macky, 2008) coins it as `the war
for talent .
When an organisation embarks on this recruitment quest,
Hydrogen Powered Vs Electric Powered Vehicles
Hydrogen Powered Versus Electric Powered Vehicles The human race is in the
midst of an energy crisis. The gasoline used around the world is currently a non
renewable resource. As the title suggests, the gasoline will eventually be totally
consumed in part by the gas guzzling vehicles common today. For this reason,
scientists have spent decades researching and developing alternative sources of
fuel in order to power daily life on Earth for many years to come. There is a wide
array of renewable fuel sources in use presently. These alternatives vary in efficiency,
affordability, and many other aspects. Hydrogen powered and electric powered
vehicles are two comparable alternatives that have increased in popularity and
functionality in recent years and will continue to do so in the near future (10
Reasons, 2015).
History
Hydrogen powered vehicles initially became a reality with the invention of the first
internal combustion engine in 1806. The engine was powered by a mixture of
oxygen and hydrogen gases. This led to the first hydrogen powered car in 1908.
Hydrogen powered vehicles were further advanced in 1935 with Henry Garrett s
electrolytic carburetor which allowed the cars to run on tap water. In the 1970 s,

Patient Centeredness In Nursing

Definition: According to the UACCB level 4 grading tool (2016) p. 2;
Patient Centeredness: Effectively manage patient care delivery that incorporates
patient/family involvement. Promote patient and team member understanding of
patient rights and responsibilities. Promote patient expressions of wishes pertaining
to and involvement in care. Facilitate adequate care that is personalized and delivered
at the appropriate time manner. Patient centeredness is based on the nurse patient
relationship. The relationship between the patient and the nurse focuses on the
patient, is goal directed, and has defined parameters. (Craven, 2013, p. 78). The
nurse patient relationship has two different phases, the goal of the first phase is to
establish trust and a realistic understanding between the nurse and patient. The
second phase is the working phase, this is where the nurse and patient explore
goals and solutions to the situation. During this phase it is critical that patients are
given information that is necessary for them to make decisions (Craven, 2013, p.
79). I feel like I met this goal today, but at the same time I could have done better.
My patient was confused and only oriented to person, I feel like I didn t read
nonverbal ques very well. Introductions were made and the nurse patient relationship
was initiated. My patient was able to get up onto the bedside commode with

Electronic Medical Records
Computer Based Medical Records Abstract In the medical field there have been a
lot of technological advances and making health records electronic is one of them.
The days of having a paper health record are almost obsolete. An electronic health
record keeps a patient s medical information and history on a computer which is
accessible to more people in less time. I will explain how the continuity,
communication, coordination and accountability of the electronic health record can
help the medical office. I will explain what can be included in the electronic health
record. As an advocate of the electronic health record I will also explain some
disadvantages to the electronic system. Computer Based Medical Records Electronic

All the patients files should be backed up at least on a weekly basis to ensure that
none of the information is lost. (HIPAA, 2011) Another way for accountability of
the electronic health record is to have each person in the office has a key card or
password to access the system. This will allow for the physician to check back and
see if anyone is releasing information or making changes that are not authorized.
This also allows for physicians to find out who made changes to a patients record
if information is inaccurate. (HIPAA, 2011) Electronic Health Records will include
the same information as the paper record. This includes basic patient information
such as demographics, medical history, medications, allergies, laboratory results,
radiology images, and billing information. (2006) Each individual doctor can
specialize their system and what they want it to include. They can add different
components to the electronic health record that are important to them and needed
in their practice. (2006) Even though I am an advocate for the electronic health
record there are drawbacks to the system. Each individual physician will have to
determine if the drawbacks are worth the advantages of the system. One of the
drawbacks to the system is privacy. Privacy will always be a big factor. Some
patients may not like the idea of having their medical information easily accessible by
almost anybody. (The HWN Team, 2009) Electronic health records

For instance, APA (2002) guidelines state that standard procedures in evaluations
should include a clear explanation to the examinee of the evaluation process that
include direct and honest answers to the test questions. Moreover, the psychologists
obligations to the employer include providing accurate expectations for evaluative
procedures, and respecting the employer s rights. On this basis, they are to provide
high quality information for personnel decisions that are reliable and valid. The fact
that the counselor did not catch the examinee in the act does not release him or her
from the obligation to follow ethical procedures. For example, if the counselor
strongly suspects that the student is being dishonest, and the Civil Service Agency is
his or her PERSONNEL SELECTION 3 client, a question emerges how will the
counselor convey this information to the client without also engaging in dishonesty?
Based on APA ethical guidelines the following guidelines apply: (a) Standard 5.01a
states that psychologists do not knowingly make public statements that are false,
deceptive, or fraudulent concerning their research, practice, or other work activities
or those of persons or organizations with which they are affiliated.
Pristine Contentment Essay
Gretel Ehrlich describes her move to Wyoming as awakening from a nap, satisfied
in her new home she becomes absorbed in its tranquility and indifference. She is
reborn, starts anew and creates a new life for herself. Ehrlich even cut her hair and
buys new clothes to create a quot;new quot; and different person. To read and
understand this essaymeans looking deeper into the author s story of rebirth, and how
the big Wyoming skies were healing and put things into perspective for her. Thus,
improving her quality of life without any fillers or distractions.
Ehrlich s purpose for being in Wyoming, is best described in the quote, quot;I suspect

The air between people is charged. Days unfold, bathed in their own music. Nights

she has no use for unnecessary words when it comes to interacting with the people

everything that is said is meaningful, even the mere presence of someone is highly
significant. This tells the reader that empty inconsequential chitchat no longer exists
in Ehrlich s world creating a constant consequential silence that is quite sincere.
Another significant part of the essay is when Ehrlich describes fillers, which is
Ehrlich s main point of the essay. This is really relevant to today s society, culture
and even pertinent in my view on things. Ehrlich states, quot;We have a cultural
tendency toward denial, but, being affluent, we strangle ourselves with what we
can buy. We have only to look at the houses we build to see how we build against
space, the way we drink against pain and loneliness. We fill up space as if it were a
pie shell, with things whose opacity further obstructs our ability to see what is
already there. quot; The American stereotype views the quality and importance of
their lives based on material objects. Example, I ll be happy if I live in a four story

Inheritance Of Loss By Kiran Desai
Inheritance of loss, is a moving novel by Indian writer Kiran Desai, whereby we see
the effect of colonialism and post colonialism and the consequence that comes with
it. Many critical themes are explored, Leach lists them as colonialism, a revolution,
multi ethnic nationhood and illegal immigration in the US, where political
allegiance impacts on love affairs, and where the reality of life in a grubby New
York basement reshapes the American Dream (2007). Desai mentions many of these
historical events in her novel that give us and insight view as to what was happening

New 30 seat unit 17,250
Original 10 seat unit 8,000
Price for 20 seat unit 9,250
And the final new 20 seat unit price will be 14,000
For this pricing option, he didn t increase the original prices of both 30 seat and 10
seat. Instead, he simply calculated the 20 seat price by using the difference between
30 seats and 10 seats.
In the positive aspect, this pricing strategy is actually fair enough for the current
customers, because he didn t change anything to the current price. Obviously this
strategy will help Clearwater to gain more customers loyalty, and probably they will
get more orders.
But on the other hand, after all the company was changing the product system
because they want more profits, the pricing strategy provided by Rob was clearly
ran in the opposite direction. I think it s a little be less aggressive for the product

Rhetorical Devices In Everyday Life
Tone, engages your audience in an inviting manner that makes them willing to
hear your message. Therefore, tone, is everything when we interact with others. In
our everyday lives, our tone shifts several times throughout our day. We speak to
everyone, in different rhetorical situations in a certain kind of tone. You would
not speak to your parents, grandparents, or even just your boss, the way that you
would speak to your younger siblings, or perhaps, even your enemy. Many people
question why our tone changes, why we can t just be our true selves ALL THE
TIME! The reality is, we have to hold a certain level of respect to ourselves, and
know the authority or position in society that others around us have obtained.
From my own experiences, I know that tone does in fact shift and change in every
rhetorical situation that I encounter. I would first off like to say that I am a strong
believer in the saying respect is earned and not given , but I also am a believer in
everyone s right to be spoken to in a civil manner. I grew up in an environment that
taught me to speak to others the way that I would like to be spoken to. More... Show

Behind the Zoo
What makes an object worth collecting? Curiosity is an important aspect of
collecting. With the spread of colonies, there was an affinity to discover the
unknown, or rather, the different. The nineteenth century paved the way for many
sponsored expedition, looking for curios. Found object; vases, pots and pans, tools
of everyday use, gained an importance, as curios. Nature has captivated the human
cognizance since man first acquired tools, it would only be natural for the curiosity
to extend to the subject of new flora and fauna. By means of collecting it is possible
to establish a personal identity or characterize the other and often identifying this
other as a conquest.
This idea of conquest can be analyzed in the manner in which collection is presented,
making presenting as important an aspect as the collection itself.
The oldest zoological collection was a transportable one which contained every
known species, however only two of each animal, one male and one female, collected
by Noah as recounted in Genesis. Not does Noah get credit for conceptualizing the
zoo, but as highlighted by John Elsner and Roger Cardinal s introduction in The
Cultures of Collecting, he was also the first collector. Granted it was under the
request of a higher power, but in some way every collection emphasizes a purpose
or some secret desire. While we can choose to believe this to be true or not, the
lesson to be taken here is that collections can be thrust on its collector. Two of the

have made a living out of using these tools to play baseball, but there are also a great
number of people who play baseball as a source of enjoyment. The crack of the bat

Once you have decided on storage and activities it is time to map out your space.
You can begin by sketching your space out on a piece of paper. There are several
details to take into account when determining where each zone should be located.
Natural habits and preferences will be an indicator or where a certain zone will be.
If you tend to throw your mail on the counter as you walk in the door that may be
an ideal place for a basket to store mail and paperwork. The relationships of the
activities need to be considered. A TV zone and a reading zone should be put at
opposites ends of a room so that people can utilize the space simultaneously. The
configurations and restrictions of the room also need to be taken into account.
When you are setting aside time in your schedule, it is important to estimate how
much time the organization process will take. Most rooms will take one to one
and one half days to complete. Blocking out the time on your calendar will be
required so you can create an effective work schedule. In conclusion, after

needed and block it out on my calendar. I will establish zones in each room and set
up storage solutions for the supplies needed in each zone. Researching my problem

into a neighbors fenced in yard where she was shot 4 times by the officers using an
assault rifle. Witnesses say the dog sat in the Wrights driveway until an officer tazed
her, and then she ran southbound. Officers are then heard saying Let s just go shoot
her. (Rose Egge, KOMO Communities Reporter) Police stated that the dog was
aggressive when they tried to subdue the dog and they had to protect themselves. An
internal investigation has cleared the officers of any wrong doing and will not

Feminists on Meat-Eating
Some feminist thinkers also believe that meat eating is wrong, basing their argument
on sexual politics. Carol Adams (The Sexual Politics of Meat) believes that men
showing their dominance over animals, with the ability to kill and eat them, mirrors
the patriarchal society in which we live, whereby men control women. To talk about
eliminating meatis to talk about displacing one aspect of male control and
demonstrates the way in which animals oppression and women s oppression are
linked together.
In saying this, Adams believes we should not eat meat because it is just exploiting
the weaker position that women hold in society because of male dominance.
Furthermore, Adams offers somewhat of a vegan argument using sexual politics,
believing that by using cows to produce dairy and chickens to produce eggs before
being slaughtered, we exploit their femaleness as well .
While there are a vast amount of arguments to support the notion of vegetarianism,
such as those presented in this essay, there are also a number of arguments that can
be made in favour of meat eating. For example, many non vegetarians raise the
question of how much impact an individual who quits eating meat has upon the meat
market in relation to the whole of society, the country, or even the world. One person
s decision to not buy animal products would not reduce the amount of animals killed
to place these products in shops. This therefore seems to make the idea of
vegetarianism, as an effort to stop
Report on Refugee Rights in Australia
Background of Refugee Rights Political Movement
Since 2000, both the refugee rights political movement in Australia as a whole as
well as the Australian National Committee on Refugee Women (ANCORW) have
primarily been focused on key issues such as the differential treatment of asylum
seekers based on how they arrived in Australia or apply for protection, the Pacific and
Malaysian solution, the detention of asylum seekers and combating the view that
boat arrivals are not genuine refugees . Although there are many other concerns, the
issues listed above are the major ones.
In the first instance, refugee right groups are trying to minimize the difference in the
way onshore and offshore asylum seekers are processed. ... Show more content on

In addition to that, ANCORW raises money to enable refugee women in Australia to
attend these conventions to advocate for the needs of their communities on behalf of
all refugee women.
Educational Resources
As a means of raising awareness in the general public about the lives of refugees, in
2009, ANCORW launched an education resource which highlights the inspiring
contributions and successes of refugees settling in Australia. Title, Celebration of
Refugee Lives : Stories of Strength and Resilience , it contains a film, book and short
training program. The aim of this education resource is to enhance the public s
understanding of refugee experience and to dispel the exaggerated myth that refugees
only bring negative social and economic problems.
Improving Settlement
In 2010, ANCROW and the CRR initiated a project to explore the difficulties faced
by refugee families and identify steps to improve family settlement outcomes. Past
projects found that the issues of family conflict, violence and separation in settlement
have become one of the most pressing problems experienced by refugee families
settling in Australia. This is exacerbated by other challenges such as inadequate and
overcrowded housing, language difficulties, unemployment and trouble adjusting to a
new culture. This project aims to research these problems and provide
What Is The Story Of A Short Story
It was like any other day for me,birds were chirping, grass was growing and
shadows were vandalizing property and wreaking havoc on the world.(22.) How
all of this monstrosity happened is a long story so pull up a chair and listen.I m
Jack Jone and I was at a friend s birthday party for a friend whose name I can t say
because he will be hunted down by the shadows. We had just finished the cake and
had just started playing hide and seek. The birthday boy was the seeker and I was
the hider(1.). You should count to 10 and count very slowly, I told him and he
soon starts counting aloud 1,2,3..... He counted. He was counting fast not slowly
but that didn t matter to the others, they were as fast as ninjas in the dead of night.
I try to hide with one of them but she kicks me out of her hiding spot. 4,5,6..... he
still was counting down and I had to find a hiding spot quick the forest is a really
good spot I thought to myself.I ran into the forest so fast all I heard as I was
running was the fading sound of him counting 7,8,9,10 ready or not here I come
and hearing the screams of children being found and me as the kid always wanting
to win ran farther and faster into the forest until I tripped on a root of a tree and
phased through the ground into a hallowed cave. SPLASH!!! that was the sound I
made when I landed on the water and the feeling of my body being slammed on
water made my back feel like I broke my spine but with little energy and drowning

Positive Body Image Group Essay
Body image disturbance, or BID, can have negative effects on individuals and can
be found among many different ages of women. In fact, BID can even be found in
girls as young as age seven. Many negative effects have been attributed to BID, such
as increased anxiety, stress, and depression, which can cause issues both
psychologically and physically (Devaraj Lewis, 2010). Therefore, there is a need to
help women combat these negative effects of body imagedisturbance and help
maintain a more positive body image.
Body image disturbance can be defined as a maladaptive internalization of an
individual s weight, shape, and/or appearance, usually involving any combination of
attitudinal, behavioral, and perceptual components (Bhatnagar, ... Show more content

It is important when developing a treatment module for BID that clinicians turn to
prior research to guide them in the development of their therapy program.
Literature Review
It is evident throughout the literature that cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in a
group setting for BID appears to be the most effective and empirically supported
treatment (Farrell, Shafran Lee, 2006). CBT encompasses various techniques,
including cognitive restructuring, behavioral experiments, and size perception
training. An exemplar study that employed some of these different components of
CBT would be Bhatnagar, Wisniewski, Solomon, and Heinberg s (2013) study. The
authors developed a CBT group intervention for body image disturbance in women
who had diagnosed eating disorders. The intervention targeted both attitudinal and
behavioral components. The group consisted of eight sessions and used a variety of
techniques, including: (a) psychoeducation, (b) breathing and progressive muscle
relaxation, (c) imagined and in vivo exposures to desensitize to appearance and
body image triggers, as well as (d) relapse prevention techniques. Each session also
included homework to be completed prior to the next session. Bhatnagar et al. (2013)
found that upon completion of the group program, participants were more satisfied
with overall appearance and with individual body parts. The authors also found that
there was less
Capital Punishment Is Wrong And Morally Wrong
Every little thing had been managing to build up, and I began to feel as if I couldn
t breath. The days just seemed to drag on for no other reason than to cause me pain,
and while I would admit I did deserve punishment for the crimes I had committed, I
just couldn t help but wonder if maybe I had paid enough already. I had already
known nothing but pain my entire life. I had nothing and no one to call my own, and
the universe just kept pushing more onto my plate.
It wasn t the pain that killed me inside though, it was the knowledge that it would
always be this way. That no matter how hard I could try I would never be any
different than I always was. I had always been this way, and the longer I thought
about it, the more sure I was that I had been predestined to have the life I had.
There was no other explanation as to why I would be born to a whore, raped,
molested, and beaten, but that was a battle I would have to have with God. ... Show

Now, I know you re probably thinking that junkies can t have a moral code, that we
don t believe in God, because if we did we would have to answer for our wrongs, but
when you ve lived a life worse than hell you don t fear the devil. You don t fear the
wrath of God. You just ask yourself what more he could do than he s already done.
I know that seemed like the norm for me. Wake up, cry, blame God, get high, pray
for forgiveness, pass out in a drug induced

Dubliners By James Joyce s Dubliners
In James Joyce s Dubliners, the reader experiences the different lives of Dublin s
inhabitants. Each Dubliner has different problems, fears, hopes, and dreams, which
allows culminates into many different perspectives. Joyce masterfully writes the daily
lives of these people without any romanticism. The Dublinersstories are a small
snippet into their full lives, while the reader does not get the full story, he does not
need to. Not much may seem to happen in the stories, but profound themes and
messages are hidden beneath the words. In the story An Encounter, a group of
boys imagine they are in the Wild West, while staging mock battles of cowboys vs.
Indians. The story includes many encounters that present themselves as ordinary;
however this is far from true. In fact, the story is largely commentating on often
mocking Irish religious life and escapism. In the beginning of the story one of the
boys, Leo Dillon, is scolded by Father Butler for reading The Half Penny Marvel.
Father Butler considers the comic as nonsense and tells Leo that his Roman
History is far more cultured and important (Joyce 12). A religious figure like
Father Butler is common among Joyce s works, as he has always shown contempt
for religion. In a sense, Father Butler creates structure for the boys, but it is
monotonous and rigid. Clearly Father Butler does not approve of Leo s fascinations
for the Wild West so he condemns him. The lack of support for imagination or
freedom is snuffed out by a
The Failure Of The American Dream By F. Scott Fitzgerald
The American Dream; a reality chased by Americans for centuries, based on the
ideas of liberty, happiness and equal right to success for all. But, for F. Scott
Fitzgerald the American Dream was a materialistic world of permanent riches and
fortune. This distorted perception of the American Dream, shared by many others,
resulted in the failure of the real American Dream, a reality where one can live
comfortably and safely. Instead, the American Dream became this unattainable goal
that can never result in satisfaction, as humans will always have that desire for more.
F. Scott Fitzgeraldclearly represents the failed American Dream, as he proved
throughout his life of short periods of glamor which concluded in heartbreak, that
the American Dream is nothing but an endless pursuit of an unattainable goal. F.
Scott Fitzgerald s early life was the story of a young ambitious boy s rise to fame
and disappointment. Even when he was a child, Fitzgerald was chasing the
American Dream as he wanted to become a rich and famous writer admired by the
whole world (QUOTE). Fitzgerald was already craving the materialistic aspect of
success. As a student, he used his writing skills to impress his peers and make
friends. He experienced his first glimpse of success as he became a member of the
most exclusive dining clubs, began writing for the campus magazines at Princeton,
and wrote a musical comedy in which he cast himself as the main character. The
attention was on him throughout most of

Rightful Ownership Of Ancient Artifacts And Treasures
Currently, there is a global debate about the competing claims to rightful ownership
of many ancient artifacts and treasures. Many times, for a variety of reasons, such
objects are housed in museums in countries other than the country where the treasures
were discovered or made. If the country of origin decides that it wants a museum to
return these treasures, does a museum ever have a right to refuse that request? Some
people feel that refusing such a request is truly cultural theft. Others, however,
arguethat there are cases when the museum, not the nation, has a stronger right to
ownership. Museums should have to give the artifacts back. The magic of museums is
that they transport visitors both back in time and across continents. Museums... Show

This is not to say that the museums intentionally stole these precious artifacts. In
many cases, protecting the artifacts motivated the acquisition. For example, the
stunning marble sculptures that once adorned the Parthenon temple in Greece were
removed in the 1800s and transported to the British Museum to preserve them from
further damage. The Turkish government, which then controlled Greece, gave
permission to take it. However, Greece has long since regained its independence and
now has urgently petitioned the British Museum to return this historic art. Greece is
eager to undertake the preservation of these priceless marbles. In fact a new Greek
museum has a special room designed to house these statues in the hope that the
country s wishes and rights will be honored. Like Greece, Egypt also wants to recover
its historical treasures. The country is negotiating with France, England, Germany,
the United States, and other countries for the return of priceless pieces of its history.
In some cases, the archaeologists who discovered these treasures brought them to the

  • 1. Essay Of Friend Crafting an essay on the topic of friendship presents a unique set of challenges, as it delves into the intricacies of a deeply personal and subjective experience. Friendship, being a multifaceted concept, demands a nuanced exploration of emotions, shared experiences, and the evolving dynamics that characterize human connections. To begin with, defining the essence of friendship requires a delicate balance between universal principles and individualized anecdotes. Attempting to encapsulate the essence of friendship within the confines of an essay proves challenging, given the diverse nature of human relationships. Each friendship is a tapestry woven with unique threads of understanding, trust, and companionship, making it intricate and distinctive. Furthermore, articulating the complexities of friendship involves navigating the vast landscape of human emotions. Expressing the intangible bonds that bind friends together necessitates a careful selection of words to capture the depth of sentiments. It requires a delicate dance between eloquence and authenticity, ensuring that the emotional resonance of the narrative is not lost amid the words. The challenge deepens when attempting to strike a balance between objectivity and subjectivity. An essay on friendship requires a blend of personal anecdotes and broader reflections on the nature of camaraderie. This intricate dance between the personal and the universal demands a keen awareness of the essay's intended audience and purpose. Additionally, the dynamic nature of friendships adds another layer of complexity. The essay must navigate through the ebbs and flows of relationships, acknowledging that friendships evolve over time. It's a delicate task to capture the essence of enduring connections while recognizing the inevitable changes that occur in the journey of human companionship. In conclusion, writing an essay on the subject of friendship is no simple feat. It requires a thoughtful exploration of the multifaceted dimensions of human connection, a delicate expression of emotions, and an artful balance between personal narratives and universal truths. It is a task that demands both introspection and a keen understanding of the nuances that define our relationships with others. • 2. The House of Spirits Life in Affection Much of The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende revolves around the life of one of its main characters Esteban Trueba. Esteban Trueba is an aggressive, violent character whose only goals throughout the novel are to achieve success and power. The reader sees his brutal nature through the way he deals with people around him, whom in his eyes are all significantly inferior. However, one minor character in The House of the Spirits seems to change Trueba s aggressive nature. When Esteban first meets Transito Soto, she is a prostitute in a brother nearby to his farm in Tres Marias. However, she soon proves much more worthy. What may seem like an insignificant meeting at first turns out to affect his life over and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Esteban meets Transito for the last time, she is the owner of a huge hotel. Everything she told him she would do, she did. Here there is a direct parallel between the rise of Transito, and the fall of Esteban. There is almost a shift of power between them. When Esteban meets Transito, he asks her to find Alba for him, since she has been kidnapped by his grandson Esteban Garcia. He spilled his heart to Transito Soto about everything that has gone on in his life since they last met. He begs her to find his only granddaughter, so he can bring her home safe. She does exactly what he asks of her. Esteban comments on her success saying, Transito Soto has gotten where she has, because among other things, she knows how to pay her debts. I supposed she used her knowledge of the most secret side of men in power to return the 50 pesos I once lent her. (Allende, 421) Transito Soto s character signifies distinct periods in Esteban s life. When he first meets her, he is just starting out in Tres Marias. He is somewhat lost and has no one at his side. When he meets her at the Christopher Columbus, he is at the peak of his financial and marital success. The love of his life, Clara, is pregnant with twin boys, he is one of the richest men in the area, and leads the life he thought he always wanted. It is in this stage of his life where his decline begins. Transito Soto begins to gain power, as the madam is overthrown and she starts her own business. By the
  • 3. The Problem And Defining Fitness Function Essay . Population based search involves evolution of group of points in search space such as in ant colony optimization and evolutionary computation techniques. The mode of origin is another basis to distinguish between nature inspired and no nature inspired metaheuristic algorithm. Evolutionary computation and Ant Colony Optimization belongs to the class of nature inspired whereas tabu search and iterated local search belongs to the class of non nature inspired algorithms. Metaheuristicalgorithms are also known as search based techniques or optimization algorithmswhich when applied to software engineering problems gave rise to Search Based Software Engineering (SBSE) [3] which reformulates software engineering problems as search problems. It is a collective attempt to shift from human based search to machine based search by applying search based optimization techniques. These methods encompass representation of problem and defining fitness function. SBSE treats search problem as one where optimal or near optimal solution are sought in a search space of solution by making use of fitness function that discriminates worse and better solution. Although many researchers, practitioners have applied search based optimization to software engineering domain, SBSE term was first coined by Harman and Jones [3] in 2001 in their work which advocates Search Based Optimization as a general approach to Software Engineering. A number of SBSE methods such as Simulated Annealing (SA), Genetic
  • 4. Piercing Procedure Research Paper Once you ve decided to get a piercing, the next step is figuring out who should do the job. It s important to choose your artist carefully, since the wrong one could leave you with a variety of bloodborne illnesses, including HIV. Ask around for recommendations and examine your chosen facility with your own eyes before consenting to a piercing procedure. When checking out your potential piercer, here are three things they absolutely need to be: licensed, insured and immaculately clean. With apologies to Meatloaf, two out of three simply isn t good enough when choosing a piercer. Find someone who possesses all three of these qualities before having your piercing done. Licensed When performing a body piercing, it is important for the artist to know where certain nerves and other important anatomical structures are located. Piercing is risky when done improperly, leading many cities to legislate who may and may not perform the procedure. In order to operate legally in these places, a piercing parlor must meet certain health and safety requirements and submit to periodic inspections. Those who comply are issued a license to display so customers know that the facility has been inspected and is in compliance with all of the related laws and safety requirements. If an operating license is not displayed, ask to see one before going any further. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Verify that your potential piercer has insurance that specifically covers piercing work. This insurance protects you by ensuring that your artist has adequate coverage to pay your expenses in the event of a serious infection or other problem. If you are at a festival or other event when the mood for a piercing strikes you, verify that the piercer s insurance coverage applies when he is working outside of his permanent studio. It is also wise to make sure any guest artists are also covered before letting one perform your piercing.
  • 5. Why The Automobile Is A Great Feat When thinking of an automobile the first thing that comes to many people s minds is transportation. The automobile is a great feat in engineering that leads to the ability to connect the cities of the world in an easier way that everyone can own. Most people though, when thinking about automobiles, do not think about the heart of the automobile, the engine. The engine is the thing that drives the automobile forward and pumps the power through the transmission and to the wheels to produce the outstanding acceleration that we feel. The engine is a great piece of machinery, but is very fragile. It always needs proper oil and coolant. Oil is very important to an engine; it cools the engine, cleans the engine, lubricates the engine, and creates compression in the engine. The average mileage anyone should drive on an oil change is three thousand miles. That is the peak distance at which the oil will start to become full of foreign particles and the filter will not be able to properly clean this oil. In addition to oil, coolant is very important to an engine because of the cooling ability that it adds to the engine. Without coolant the engine will overheat and most possibly blow a head gasket or warp the block. Oil, coolant and other many factors go into keeping an engine in good running order to extend its life. Maintaining the fluids and keeping them in good condition is important to this longevity. The only problem with man made machinery like an engine is that it will

  • 7. The Moral Dilemma Of Adolf Hitler The moral dilemma that I was presented was killing 3 year old Adolf Hitler to prevent the Holocaust. I can try to change Hitler s mind, but he will still make the same decision, no matter what. If I decide to kill him or not, I would not be charged for the murder, which is the plus side of this moral dilemma. After a long week of thinking about this question, I thought to myself that I could not have the courage to kill an infant. I have a guilty conscience and if I were to do something like that, I would not be able to forgive myself. I understand that Hitler s choices during World War II was inhumane, but it is a part of world history that needs to be studied and to not be reiterated. On the contrary, if I don t kill him, six million... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since I said that I will not kill Hitler, the Holocaust will still occur. Mentally, I would have a hard time suffering about me being responsible of other people s lives. Society uses this tactic to hide their real emotions and build an exterior to block the bad realities. And thirdly, I might use the displacement approach, because I would not know how to relieve my wrath. To clarify, using displacement is when someone pins his/her troubled feelings towards another object or person; it can also cause more fuel to the fire in any situation. Since Hitler would be in the wrong as a dictator, it would make sense to confront him with my feelings about his involvement. Instead, I might just take my anger out on someone that is around me and probably hurt their feelings. I know that it is not the best way to vent my rage, but I am being honest if I were put in that situation. Even if I decided to kill Hitler, I would be very remorseful, and I would not know how to clear my conscience. Killing someone s child is a bad deed, but killing to save millions will make someone have a fickle mindset. To conclude, I made the decision to not kill three year old Hitler, because I would not have the nerve to kill someone else s child. Since I won t kill him, the Holocaust will still take place and I will have a hard time controlling my emotions. To disguise my real feelings, I would use defense

AMULYA NARAVARJULA Telecommunication Engineering George Mason University anaravar@masonlive.gmu.edu The most important application of the digital image processing is enhancement of the captured image, storage and transmission of the image. An image may be a two dimensional plane which consists of f(x, y) where x, y are the coordinates in the plane and f is the amplitude or the intensity of the image at that particular point in the plane. If x,y are positive and f is a finite discrete value, then the image is the digital image. All the elements of an image are referred to as pixels. Human vision is limited to the visual band of electromagnetic spectrum where as the imaging machines covers the entire electromagnetic spectrum ranging from gamma to radio waves. When a human eye focuses on an object, the light that is reflected by the object falls on the retina and the image is formed on the wall. The discrete light receptors that are spread over the wall of the retina forms the image. These receptors are of two types namely cones and rods. Cones are less in number approximately 6 to 7 million and are concentrated in the region called fovea. These cones gives the clear image with fine details because these have their individual nerve connection where as, the rods give the general pattern of the image because many rods are connected to one nerve. Rods are numerous approximately 75 to 150 million which are spread over the wall of the retina. The interesting phenomena here is that the objects appear as colorless in the nighttime because only rods get stimulated as the cones are color

However, there are some themes that allow one to understand the complex connections the best: Interactions Between Humans and the Environment, Development and Interaction of Cultures, State Building, Expansion, and Conflict, Creation, Expansion, and Interaction of Economic Systems, and Development and Transformation of Social Structures. Tom Standage, a renowned author, has written many books on the advancement of society and has shown the presence of these themes throughout his books. One of his most famous books, A History of the World in Six Glasses, shows these themes through the use of six beverages that advanced humans to the modern day society it is known as today. The world around us is crucial to our everyday decisions. This was also the case for our ancestors, who had none of the advanced technology that we have today. Whenever there is mention of serial killers or unsolved murders or abductions, psychological profiling, floats to the top of the list of concerns (Egger, 1999). Psychological profiling is an attempt to provide investigators with more information about an offender who has not yet been identified (Egger, 1999). Its purpose is to develop a behavioral composite that combines both sociological and psychological assessment of the would be offender. The type of person who could have committed the crime can often be identified on the premise that accurate analysis and interpretation of the crime scene can point to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By the mid 1950s, a psychiatrist named Dr. James Brussel, with no prior links to law enforcement, was asked by the New York City PoliceDepartment to profile the Mad Bomber of New York (Padbury, n.d.). After studying crime scene evidence and the bomber s mail to the press, Brussel was able to develop a profile that described the bomber in detail. He claimed that offender would be heavy set, middle aged, and foreign born. That he was Roman Catholic, single and lived with a sibling. He added that when found, the offender would most likely be wearing a buttoned, double breasted suit. This proved to be very accurate. Brussel went on to aid other investigative agencies between 1957 and 1972. His work would lead to the arrest of Albert DeSalvo, the Boston Strangler in 1964 (Padbury, n.d.). It was Brussel s technique of interpreting bizarre behavior of these killers and then applying his knowledge of psychiatry to the investigative realities that proved to be a very effective means to assist law enforcement solve cases such as these (Egger, 1999). In 1976 and 1977, the Son of Sam terrorized New York City shooting couples as they sat in their parked vehicles throughout the city. It is unnecessary for civilians to purchase automatic weapons for non military use. If there was a ban on the purchasing of militarized weapons by civilians, it would decrease the number of fatal mass shootings drastically. Statistics show that in 2015, there were 372 mass shootings, killing 475 people and wounding 1,870. Also in 2015, there were 64 school shootings, that number include incidents where a firearm was shot but no one was injured. There are roughly 300 million guns in the United States, which is about a third of the population. The U.S. Department of Justice and the Council on Foreign Affairs reported that 11,385 people died on average annually in firearm incidents in the U.S. between 2001 and 2011. During the 1980 s and 1990 s, there were numerous mass shootings that involved automatic weapons. An example of one of the first mass shootings in the U.S. occurred in 1989. Patrick Purdy returned to his elementary school in Stockton, California armed with an AKS rifle, which is similar to the AK 47, and opened fire. He killed 5 children and wounded 30 others, and then turned the gun on himself. Over time and across academia, scholars are concerned with various aspects change. Moreover, in spite of the various perspectives and conclusions on the subject matter, there appears to be consensus that indeed, the way change is introduced in an organization determines the success of the intended projects or strategic goals of the organization (Williams, 2006). Practically, in most of the organizations, change is viewed as a bad thing. In other words, managers may not wish to condone the resistance of their proposed projects since they delay the achievement of the goals. In both cases, the relevant theories and models are invoked and a suitable synthesis applied. Conclusions are made and the answer to the essay question reiterated. In the final analysis, the essay emphasizes on the need to view change resistance in an alternative manner; as opposed to the traditional demonized approach. Resistance to Change In many cases, resistance to change is viewed and analyzed from the managerial perspective (Schultz Schultz, 2004). From the managerial point of view, resistance to change is considered as a cause to the delay in the achievement of the organization s strategic goals. Hence managers are aware of the effects of the resistance to change, such as wastage of time. As a result, change projects are introduced earlier than the actual time, so that by the time the management can mobilize consensus on the proposed change, the ideal time for the commencement of the project is fulfilled. Hayes (2002) outlines other ways of managing change, such as coercion, manipulation and dialogue with the employees. At this point, it is also necessary to realize that change is not only a property of the employees but also an aspect common with the middle level managers. According to Folger and Skarlicki (1999), such managers are reprimanded, transferred to given higher positions in order to allow the change process to take its course. In some cases, employees who resist change were sacked such as shown below. Toyota represents a

Lastly, PUBS is a school unified system which includes all working adults in the school to be involved. Yet, there are implications to this study as the field of research grows in this area. The effect on academic growth needs to be further researched and directly linked. Also, the effect on PUBS in middle or high school settings needs to be examined. (p.

In addition, the role that each gender plays in the movie is another theme that was portrayed in the film. BDSM within the film is expressed as pleasurable and something that everyone will enjoy. With all the whips, toys and ties that are mentioned or said within in the film it sounds amusing for anyone. In addition, the contract (De Luca Johnson, 201) that is a fundamental base line for Christian to be involved with Ana is poorly portrayed. Within the movie it is seen not as a consent between both the dominant and submissive, however it is a rule that is turned into a living, breathing, and at times uncomfortable interpersonal experiences (Laurie Kean, 2015). In reality, this consent is something that both the dominant and submissive agree to that will and will not happen when being involved in BDSM not something that will alter one s life. BDSM is based on trust and communication between the dominant and the submissive, which was lacked in the film. Ana agreed to situations that she didn t know she was putting herself in, for example punishment that Ana was going to receive because she was out of line (De Luca Johnson, 2015). Here in the movie it was shown as whipping using a leather belt on the butt, the tears and faces that she was making whilst it was happening showed that it was not pleasurable. Here once again, BDSM was not presented correctly. Research suggests that an important factor in maintaining sexual satisfaction and relationship satisfaction is being able to communicate effectively (Leistner, Mark, 2016), this is why at the end of the film, Ana ended the relationship because communication was not there and she felt hurt and betrayed rather than

The gasoline used around the world is currently a non renewable resource. As the title suggests, the gasoline will eventually be totally consumed in part by the gas guzzling vehicles common today. For this reason, scientists have spent decades researching and developing alternative sources of fuel in order to power daily life on Earth for many years to come. There is a wide array of renewable fuel sources in use presently. These alternatives vary in efficiency, affordability, and many other aspects. Hydrogen powered and electric powered vehicles are two comparable alternatives that have increased in popularity and functionality in recent years and will continue to do so in the near future (10 Reasons, 2015). History Hydrogen powered vehicles initially became a reality with the invention of the first internal combustion engine in 1806. The engine was powered by a mixture of oxygen and hydrogen gases. This led to the first hydrogen powered car in 1908. Hydrogen powered vehicles were further advanced in 1935 with Henry Garrett s electrolytic carburetor which allowed the cars to run on tap water. In the 1970 s, Archie Blue created and patented a new carburetor that produced enough H2 (hydrogen) gas to power a car motor (History of Hydrogen, n.d.). Today, most commercial hydrogen vehicles use fuel cells to power their engines. Electric powered vehicles had a slightly later

This will allow for the physician to check back and see if anyone is releasing information or making changes that are not authorized. With the spread of colonies, there was an affinity to discover the unknown, or rather, the different. The nineteenth century paved the way for many sponsored expedition, looking for curios. Found object; vases, pots and pans, tools of everyday use, gained an importance, as curios. Nature has captivated the human cognizance since man first acquired tools, it would only be natural for the curiosity to extend to the subject of new flora and fauna. By means of collecting it is possible to establish a personal identity or characterize the other and often identifying this other as a conquest. This idea of conquest can be analyzed in the manner in which collection is presented, making presenting as important an aspect as the collection itself. The oldest zoological collection was a transportable one which contained every known species, however only two of each animal, one male and one female, collected by Noah as recounted in Genesis. Not does Noah get credit for conceptualizing the zoo, but as highlighted by John Elsner and Roger Cardinal s introduction in The Cultures of Collecting, he was also the first collector. Granted it was under the request of a higher power, but in some way every collection emphasizes a purpose or some secret desire. The Evolution Of Baseball Technology The Evolution of Baseball Technology: 1884 Present From the United States to Japan, every athlete who has ever played the game of baseball has used the basic tools of the trade : a baseball, a bat, a glove, protective equipment, and a uniform. Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Ted Williams, and Sammy Sosa have made a living out of using these tools to play baseball, but there are also a great number of people who play baseball as a source of enjoyment. The crack of the bat connecting with a fastball, the slap of the ball on the mitt, and the roar of the crowd after a homerun are all common sounds of a baseball game. The start of the Lively Ball Era was influenced not only by the introduction of the corkcentered baseball, but Today, baseballs consist of many layers wrapped around a cork and rubber center (Honig 125). Wrapped around this cork and rubber center are hundreds of yards of gray and white woolen yarn (Buckley 12). A layer of white cotton string is wrapped around the yarn (Honig 125). • 39. Feminists on Meat-Eating Some feminist thinkers also believe that meat eating is wrong, basing their argument on sexual politics. Carol Adams (The Sexual Politics of Meat) believes that men showing their dominance over animals, with the ability to kill and eat them, mirrors the patriarchal society in which we live, whereby men control women. To talk about eliminating meatis to talk about displacing one aspect of male control and demonstrates the way in which animals oppression and women s oppression are linked together. In saying this, Adams believes we should not eat meat because it is just exploiting the weaker position that women hold in society because of male dominance. Furthermore, Adams offers somewhat of a vegan argument using sexual politics, believing that by using cows to produce dairy and chickens to produce eggs before being slaughtered, we exploit their femaleness as well . While there are a vast amount of arguments to support the notion of vegetarianism, such as those presented in this essay, there are also a number of arguments that can be made in favour of meat eating. For example, many non vegetarians raise the question of how much impact an individual who quits eating meat has upon the meat market in relation to the whole of society, the country, or even the world. One person s decision to not buy animal products would not reduce the amount of animals killed to place these products in shops. This therefore seems to make the idea of vegetarianism, as an effort to stop

Literature Review It is evident throughout the literature that cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in a group setting for BID appears to be the most effective and empirically supported treatment (Farrell, Shafran Lee, 2006). CBT encompasses various techniques, including cognitive restructuring, behavioral experiments, and size perception training. An exemplar study that employed some of these different components of CBT would be Bhatnagar, Wisniewski, Solomon, and Heinberg s (2013) study. The authors developed a CBT group intervention for body image disturbance in women who had diagnosed eating disorders. The intervention targeted both attitudinal and behavioral components. Each session also included homework to be completed prior to the next session. Bhatnagar et al. Joyce masterfully writes the daily lives of these people without any romanticism. The Dublinersstories are a small snippet into their full lives, while the reader does not get the full story, he does not need to. Not much may seem to happen in the stories, but profound themes and messages are hidden beneath the words. In the story An Encounter, a group of boys imagine they are in the Wild West, while staging mock battles of cowboys vs. Indians. The story includes many encounters that present themselves as ordinary; however this is far from true. In fact, the story is largely commentating on often mocking Irish religious life and escapism. In the beginning of the story one of the boys, Leo Dillon, is scolded by Father Butler for reading The Half Penny Marvel. Father Butler considers the comic as nonsense and tells Leo that his Roman History is far more cultured and important (Joyce 12). A religious figure like Father Butler is common among Joyce s works, as he has always shown contempt for religion. In a sense, Father Butler creates structure for the boys, but it is monotonous and rigid. Clearly Father Butler does not approve of Leo s fascinations for the Wild West so he condemns him.
