Introduction Sentences For Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Introduction Sentences for Essays" may initially seem like a
straightforward task, but delving into the intricacies of crafting effective opening statements can
pose challenges. The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between capturing the reader's
attention and providing a clear preview of the essay's content. Crafting engaging and compelling
introduction sentences requires a deep understanding of the subject matter, as well as a keen
awareness of the audience's expectations.
One must navigate through the nuances of language, considering the tone, style, and word
choice that will resonate with the intended readership. The challenge intensifies as the writer
strives to avoid clichГ©s and predictability, aiming for originality to make the introduction stand
out. Achieving coherence and flow is essential, ensuring that the introductory sentences
seamlessly transition into the body of the essay.
Moreover, the writer must grapple with the pressure to set the right tone for the entire piece,
establishing credibility and creating a foundation for the reader's engagement. Balancing
informativeness with brevity is yet another hurdle, as an introduction that is too lengthy may
lose the reader's interest, while one that is too succinct might fail to provide adequate context.
In conclusion, the task of crafting introduction sentences for essays is a delicate art that demands
a nuanced understanding of language, subject matter, and audience expectations. It requires a
writer's skill to navigate the fine line between engaging the reader and delivering a concise yet
informative preview of the essay's content.

Sugar Bowl Swot Analysis Essay
Since the transition from Westlake to Sugar Bowl, the business has experienced a
structural rejuvenation and incredible financial growth. A quick SWOT analysis
reveals the key strengths and opportunities that make Sugar Bowl a viable business
in the long term. The company s key strengths are Shelby Givens as its strategic
leader and Charlie Campbell as its private event sales person. Both individuals are
crucial intangible resources that help Sugar Bowl achieve a sustainable competitive
advantage.
Givens s obtained valuable knowledge about marketing from the general manager that
runs a successful bowling venue in Washington, D.C. In addition, she managed to
find methods to increase revenue by keeping costs down. For example, she was
able to increase average customer spending to $50 by narrowing down the menu, re
negotiating the company s catering contract, and increasing the prices of the best
selling plates (2012, p. 8). In like manner, Charlie Campbell was able to quickly
line up a potential of $35,000 in revenue in his first months working with the
company. Campbell provides valuable sales experience and personal network with
numerous companies. In the other hand, Sugar Bowl is able to exploit opportunities

New bowling venues can also exploit the lack of competition in Raleigh and cause an
erosion in Sugar Bowl s profits. A developed perceptual acuity will help identify
indirect competitors that can detract customers from the company. The construction
of the wine and cheese bar and the art studio are examples of unorthodox competitors.
Lastly, new trends could rise up and disrupt the demand for urban lounges like Sugar
Bowl. Environmental monitoring will help identify trends that can negatively impact
the competitive landscape for
What Is My Ideal Country Essay
When I picture the ideal society, it is everything that my homeland, Sweden, is
not. Everything that I hate about Sweden, everything that makes me dislike this
country, does not exist there at all. In the land of my dreams, the weather is warm
and the sun is shining at all times. On the days where the sun shines too bright, you
can go for a swim in the turquoise ocean to cool off. That is mainly what I would
like to do after long days of work, just go to the ocean, lie on the beach with white,
fine sand and coconut trees surrounding the premises. There are also many activities
that keeps the visitors entertained, which easily happens when you go to the beach
everyday. There are bouncy castles in the ocean near the beach, you can go surfing,
snorkelling to check out the magnificent sea life and you can also rent a luxurious
boat for as long as you wantfor a vacation on the sea. That really makes it easy to
keep life constantly interesting. One activity that probably is my favorite one, is to

This combined with the friendly people and the lovely nature makes this country a
popular tourist destination. The shopping is also a very much appreciated tourist
attraction. The shopping areas in the country can be compared to places like New
York and London. There is also no language barrier for english speakers here since
the mother tongue here is english.
I would like to see my utopia as a combination of Switzerland regarding economy
and infrastructure, Australia or Thailand with its tropical and beautiful nature and
friendly people, and New Yoek with its shopping and city life. These are some of
the countries in the world that I love the most and combined, they are absolutely
perfect. In other words, the country I just described, is a country I would love to

China s One-Child Policy
Over population is an extremely serious problem facing the world today.
According to an article from Newsweek in Oct. 2009 called Where do babies come
from? , today s world population has reached over 6.6 billion people. Also the
article mentioned that in 2009 57.4% of all new born babies who were born this
year came from Asia alone. This is an issue because over population can lead to
hasty consumption of resources. China who has one of the largest population in the
world with over 1.3 billion people, has taken a stance against over population. By
introducing China s One Child Policy(Family PlanningPolicy) in 1979, China hopes
to decrease its country s annual population growth. China has implemented the policy
by many different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The book also discusses the teaching of family planning in school at a young age and
in the community for young women.
Using propaganda to help the people of China to be aware of family planning has
significantly help decrease China s population. According to an article written by
Davis Kingsley called The Political Impact of New Population Trends , by using
propaganda China has help pushed its people to accept and embrace the One Child
Policy even if they have to resort to stretching the truth (pg. 7). By using drastic
measures to help decrease population growth China has implanted deception to its
people. According to Kingsley, the most shocking information that China s health
officials have given its people as to why postponing marriage is a good decision.
Kingsley discover that China s health officials state that intercourse before the age of
mid to late twenties is detrimental to the development of the body (pg. 9). Though
the use of propaganda to implement the One Child Policy is significantly decreasing
China s population growth, the use of deception in China s propaganda message is an
unethical way for the government to play with its people ignorance and faith in the
political system.
Another approach to implement China s One Child Policy is by taxation or paying a
certain amount of money for fines. Fines or taxation amounts are based on the family

The Element That Changed The World
The Element That Changed the World
In world history an event with the span of only two days seems insignificant in
comparison to the other 4.5 billion years, but it is hard to imagine a life without
these days being deemed insignificant. Thirty years ago an explosion directly
changed the lives of over 135,000 people and indirectly affected the rest of the
world. The effects of Chernobyl have been powerful throughout the past three
decades, and have influenced different aspects of our political society as well as
social reforms in the Soviet Union. Not only did the explosion bring awareness to
environmental concerns, but it also altered the course of the everyday citizens under
the control of the USSR. Chernobyl had some disastrous and ... Show more content

Throughout the time of nuclear power, scientist have been debating whether or not it
was worth the risk for nuclear power. Most people agree that [it has] the capacity to
turn the earth into a desert or make the desert bloom (4). Nuclear power is ideal in
terms that it is efficient and cost effective, but it also has some downfalls. The
process creates a lot of nuclear waste that is highly radioactive without a good place
of disposing it, not to mention the inherently dangerous risks involved with nuclear
power plants, such as explosions.
The power plant at Chernobyl had 4 RBMK 1000 pressurized reactors that were
cooled by water, and fueled by splitting uranium atoms. These reactors used graphite
blocks that act as moderators to slow down and control the output of neutrons
released during nuclear fission. Since nuclear fission and fusion produce a lot of
thermal energy, water is used to cool the reactor s core. The now boiling water creates
steam which is tunneled through two steam powered turbines to produce near 1,000
megawatts of electricity.
The cooling systems of the reactors are extremely important to the stability of the
complex. If the cooling system were to malfunction, there are series of back up
cooling systems to prevent a meltdown caused by the high intensity heat produced by
the uranium. If there were no cooling system at all, the graphite would turn into a
radioactive molten core that would risk seeping in the ground soil, and

once they have been hired at SAS. They have the employees who don t want to
leave the work even if they get little more money somewhere else as they want the

Steve Jobs Argumentative
Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson is about the life of Steve Jobs and he came about
being as wealthy as he was. It all started in 1955 when he was born in San
Francisco and ended on October 5, 2011 in Palo Alto. Steve was well known for
his company Apple. He changed the world with technology. If it weren t for him
and his company, I don t think we would be as advanced and close with others as
we are now. He was very argumentative, but he enjoyed making the users happy
about the product. He was a jerk also, but it all turned out for the better for
everyone in the product. He was a very hard determined worker and believed in
only the best for the customers. I think he was kind hearted as well because of how
much he cared about the users. He deserves the credit of building an excellent

For example, Jobs wanted to go to Reed college and he knew his parents couldn t
afford it so he gave them an ultimatum that if they don t pay for it then he would
just not go to college. Another example would be when he had gotten Lisa
Brennan pregnant and his response was, I wasn t sure it was my kid, because i
was pretty sure I wasn t the only one she was sleeping with. In this incident, Jobs
argued that it was not his child until finally he matured and went and did a DNA
test and it was a match and then started paying child support. But for a while he
was sure that it wasn t his daughter. When it came to Apple, Jobs was also very
argumentative. On one occasion, Jobs started liking the idea of Apple stores and no
one else liked this idea because of the failure they have seen when another tech
company franchised and failed horribly. But, he argued the idea until they all agreed
to go along with his
Brokeback Mountain Comparison
In the film Brokeback Mountain, Jake Gyllenhaal s character Jack Twist says in the
film, Brokeback got us good, don t it? This story and the motion picture tells us
viewers about the importance of following your heart and that true love can be
forbidden according to certain circumstances. Both the film and the story have similar
yet different transformations throughout the whole story on how both characters
develop and also the importance of the setting of the Brokeback Mountainand how it
was the place that brought the two men together always.
To start off, first what the story is about. Set against the sweeping vistas of Wyoming
and Texas, the film tells the story of two young men, a ranch hand Ennis Del Mar,
played by the late actor Heath Ledger and a rodeo cowboy Jack Twist, where in the
film is played by actor Jake Gylllenhaal, who meet in the summer of 1963, and
unexpectedly forge a lifelong connection, one whose complications, joys, and
tragedies provide a testament to the endurance and power of love. Both men were
hired to work as sheepherders in the Wyoming Mountains. As both became co

fishing in Brokeback Mountain. Ennis agrees to meet up with Jack. As Jack arrives

Mise-En-Scene in Napoleon Dynamite
In Napoleon Dynamite (Jared Hess, 2004), the character known as Napoleon
Dynamite (Jon Heder) is quite a unique fellow. His quirkiness and eccentricity are
what make him as a character; they are the primary traits of his personality. Keep in
mind, however, that he is not the only odd character in the film, but he has his own
peerless way of defining himself separate from any other character(s). This effect is
achieved through certain cinematic techniques that director Jared Hess utilizes in
order to bring out Napoleon s persona in ways other than simply guessing who he
really is. Rather, these techniques explicitly imply certain character traits; they are
like clues that allow one to see the character just as the creator intended.... Show more

This not only shows his weakness as a person, but his immaturity as well, considering
that high school students typically do not resort to this sort of behavior; it is
normally reserved for younger children. He is a figure of mockery to nearly
everyone at school, his uncle Rico, even his own brother Kip. Albeit he hardly tries
to defend himself, he does attempt to make up for it by trying to look cool, but in
extremely ineffective ways. The initial instance of this phenomenon of Napoleon s
is when he first meets Pedro. He brags that a gang at his school wanted him to join
(specifically for his bow staff skills ), which is almost certainly not true. Also, he
tells Don a ridiculous, overly exaggerated story when he went to Alaska the
previous summer. He claims that he went wolverine hunting with his uncle, and shot
like fifty of em . Either there is an entire flipside to Napoleon s character that is
never revealed, or he is embellishing a story that may not even exist in the first place.
The latter seems like a much more reasonable conclusion.
Not only does he fail to seem cool to the people at school, but he does not exactly
have the best skills in picking up women. In more blunt words, he is just not very
smooth. One example of this is when he talks to Deb in the cafeteria, and uses the
corny pickup line, I see you re
Elite Theory To Influence The Government
Elite theory is the belief that a wealthy elite runs the country. An elite is anyone who
falls into the top ten percentile of the nation s wealth. They are the wealthiest people
in the country. The economic elite consists of the same people as the political elite,
wealth equals power. In the article The growing wealth and clout at the top , it
expresses that the economic elite, the richest ten percent, hold a huge percentage of
the nation s wealth and in owning this large percentage it gives them the power to
manipulate or influence the government. The majority of the members of the elite do
not occupy government positions themselves, but rather depend on elected and
appointed officials to do their work for them. In the 2012 election cycle
Manners and Etiquette of Pride and Prejudice

Do s and Don ts of Pride and Prejudice
In 19th century England, manners played a big role. In her book Pride and Prejudice,
Jane Austen portrays many different aspects of English social manners in the 1800s,
and these facets of English etiquette, including traveling etiquette, social propriety,
and dancing, greatly affect the plot of the book.
One aspect of English social etiquette was the set of strict rules for how one was to
act to appear as a socially adept person and therefore a desirable match for marriage.
They were for the most part unspoken rules, but during the 19th century there began
to be a growing selection of etiquette books available, for instance, Dr. ... Show more

He dances every dance, is very courteous, and pays special attention to Jane (Austen
278 279). Because of these two characters different behavior at this first ball, they
establish their reputations; Darcy gets a bad reputation as a proud and disagreeable
man, and Mr. Bingley gets a reputation as an amiable man who is fun to be around.
Mr. Bingley through dancing also got an opportunity to show Jane that he cared
about her; in the 1800s, if a gentleman asked to dance with a lady twice it usually
meant that said gentleman was interested in the lady. At the first ball, Mr. Bingley
danced with [Jane] twice... (Austen 279) and thereby showed his affection for her, an
affection that grows stronger throughout Pride and Prejudice.
Dancing also affects the plot of Pride and Prejudice. During the ball at Netherfield,
Darcy dances with Elizabeth, and two important things happen during this dance.
First, Darcy s affection for Elizabeth begins to flourish. As he is dancing with her,
they have a little argument. After the dance, Darcy begins to be angry at Elizabeth,
but ...in Darcy s breast there was a tolerable powerful feeling towards [Elizabeth],
which soon procured her pardon, and directed all his anger against another. Also,
during this dance Elizabeth s view of what happened between Mr. Darcy and Mr.
Wickham, that Mr. Darcy has shamelessly exploited Mr. Wickham, is established in
her own mind. Without dancing, the plot of Pride and
Situational Irony In Trifles By Susan Glaspell
Trifles, written by Susan Glaspell, focuses on two major types of irony: situational
irony and dramatic irony. Situational irony, or irony in which the setting of the story
contains a built in incongruity, becomes evident because the play s only setting is
just one example of this type of irony. Glaspell also includes much dramatic irony, in
which the speaker is less aware of the full import of his or her words than the
audience is. Probably the most obvious example of situational irony in the story, the
Wrights kitchen becomes the crime scene. This is ironic because it is the one room in
the house, that the audience is aware of, that is overlooked by the men. The county
attorney is at first unsure and questions, You re convinced that there was nothing here
nothing that would point to any motive? (877). However, the sheriff brushes off the
suggestion without a second thought. The kitchen is, in fact, where all Mrs. Wright s
motives are hidden. It is also ironic that the two female characters, Mrs.... Show more

perfectly clear except a reason for doing it. But you know juries when it comes to
women. If there was some definite thing. Something to show something to make a
story about a thing that would connect up with this strange way of doing it (885).
Glaspell writes this part, not only to lessen the power men held during this time and
weaken their position in society, but to further show how ignorant the trained
professionals were acting, compared to the untrained women who found all of the
evidence. To hit home, the attorney continues, No, Mrs. Peters doesn t need

grandmother, my plush s defining feature was it s oversized black muzzle and the
minute tongue that permeated through. Gifts are meant to hold sentimental value,
which is part of the reason why gifts are exchanged today. Yet, is there anything else
that makes gifts more intriguing to what we see today? Marcel Mauss, a French

Incidentally, one can never fathom a mere thought of cursed gifts. Hau the spirit
of things (Mauss pg.13) is a magical phenomenon that possesses gifts. This is due
to the fact that, when gifts are exchanged it will possess something of him......a
kind of personality. To further elaborate on this point, gifts are essentially a curse
in Polynesian culture. Whenever there was an act of trade, the exchange was
viewed upon as a legal tie in which a tie occurring through things, is one of the
soul. Hence it follows that to make a gift of something to someone is to make a
present of some part of oneself. (Mauss Pg.12) In a sense, preparing a gift follows
this mindset because accepting a gift means to accept the giver s offering and their
feelings concentrated into it. Which in turn can be linked to my plush that
represents a part of my grandmother that was given to me. My grandmother is
Jamaican. The gift I was given came directly from her homeland, Jamaica. I ve had
my plush for over a decade. Growing up, I could have decided a long time ago to
part with childish items. Yet, I chose to hold on to this particular gift. Maybe it is
due to the amount of years that have passed. Or perhaps by throwing it away would
be the same as throwing away time. I feel as if i m obligated in a way to preserve
my gift. Why throw away something when it was meant to be used and not
discarded? I guess preserving my gift would consider it a tonga in this situation.

Dress Code Bias
There are many topics to chose for an argumentative essay but I have chosen one
that is important to kids at school. Every student s thinks that the dress code is
dumb. The three details that this essay is going to cover is how dress codes are
gender biased, what we have to wear because of dress codes, and how it affects the
way we learn. Many students say I think it s not cool how we have to have a dress
codeit s so gender biased. The dress code is against both genders and what we wear.
It s about looking professional for our learning/working not distracting the boys. It is
a gender biased attitude about it that needs to change. The fact that schools think we
should have a dress code is unfair. Students are prohibited from wearing, while
Rhetorical Analysis Of Richard Louv s Last Child In The
Woods
In Richard Louv s, Last Child in the Woods, he develops an argument relevant to
today s times about the separation between people and nature and how little nature
is actually appreciated. His conversational, yet crisp diction, didactic tone, and use
of allusions to the past strengthen his argument. Louv s diction can be classified as
the diction one would hear at a public speaking event. He carries a conversational
diction to assuage the reader into becoming relaxed, yet willing to listen. Louv doesn
t use colloquialisms, and the lack thereof results in a crisp diction as well. His
conversational yet crisp diction comes out in lines 57 59, Perhaps we ll someday tell
our grandchildren stories about our version of the nineteenth century Conestoga
wagon. Louv s use of the pronouns we and our establishes feelings of mutuality and
togetherness among the audience and in return, the audience is keen to listen.... Show

He doesn t shove his argument or view down the throats of his audience, but he does
present them. He uses litotes to support his argument for closing the gap between
people and nature, an example being, But the logical extension of synthetic nature is
the irrelevance of true nature the certainty that it s not even worth looking at (lines
17 19). In these lines, Louv hints at his disagreement towards the ever growing gap
between people and nature. Like a pastor referring to scripture to support or negate
his arguments, Louv refers to quotes from other people, Richtel and Brooks, to
support or negate his own arguments, which expands on the didactic tone. Louv s use
of rhetorical questions in lines 43 47 targets didactic behavior as
In The Mood For Love Essay
What is the ultimate form of a tragic love? For Wong, it is neither denial nor
acceptance, but an eternal state of longing and waiting. Among Wong Kar Wei s
internationally acclaimed productions, Days of Being Wilde (1990), In the Mood for
Love (2000), and 2046 (2004) are loosely counted as a trilogy of love. In the end
chapter of his trilogy 2046, Wong continues to focus on Chou Mu Yun, a sentimental
yet callous writer and womanizer. Revolving around the affairs of Chou, 2046
presents to its audience three pathways that love could possibly offer: to unite in
happiness, to move on after the denial from the loved one, and to linger upon the
unanswered love in perpetuity. Chou is undoubtedly chosen to be the bearer of the

Mazierska discusses the overarching theme trapped in presence in Wong Kar Wei s
movie as postmodern implication that correlates to Wong s addicted uses of
montage and symbolism in narration and editing (p8, Mazierska). As he considers,
Wong s works share the similarity with several postmodern authors. The notion of
alternative temporalities is central to the narrative organization to postmodern
novels, such as those of Italo Calvino and Alain Robber Grillet. (p17, Mazierska
and Rascaroli). James Udden also argues in the Stubborn Persistence of Local In
Wong Kar wai that Wong s popularity is credited to his typically post modern

overlapping narration between presence and future in 2046 as the manifestation of
Deleuze s theory of crystal of time, vaguely alluding to the notion that virtual and the
real intermingles in 2046 (p164, Finnayson). Brunette also postulates that the sense
of resisting the advancement of time correlates to what the Fredric Jameson terms as
longing for the present. (Teo, p358) Although it is evident that every production of
Wong concerns the subject of love, few theorists have been found so far who posit
Wong s interpretation of love in a post modernistic framework. The one who got

Different Ways Organisms Make Sounds
Five different ways organisms make sounds would be by sonar (echolocation),
drumming, clicking, beating, and singing. First, bats use sonar, also known as
echolocation, to help them navigate through their surroundings and catch food. A
sound wave is produced from the bat and returns as an echo. A bat s sonar helps them
comprehend the size, location, and the direction the object is moving in by listening
to the echoes that return. Second, termites, as well as many other animals and insects,
use drumming as a way of communication. Termites bang their heads against the
ground to warn other termites about danger or when they feel threatened. In most
termite species, only soldier termites would produce the warning signal by drumming
their heads against the ground. Other... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, gorillas beat their chest to communicate with one another. Usually male gorillas
beat their chest to display their dominance among the group or to challenge another
gorilla when approached. Most gorillas will beat their chest when they feel
threatened, whether it s by another gorilla, an animal, or even a human. Gorillas will
also beat their chest when they re excited, alarmed, or marking their territory when
another group of gorillas advance. Finally, Toads/frogs and birds are two common
species that sing to communicate. Male toads/frogs sing to attract the attention of
female toads/frogs during mating season. Other times, toads/frogs will sing to mark
their territory or because the weather is going to change. During the morning,
usually around dawn, most male birds sing to attract a mate and keep other male
birds away from their area. Male birds have their own signature song, each with a
different variation. The songs sung during dawn are clearer and more consistent than
those heard throughout the day. Birds will sing warning calls when they feel
threatened and/or notify nearby birds of
Applied Behavior Analysis Examples
Abstract
The Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis has published many studies that use
behavioral analytic procedures in combination with sport psychology, also referred to
behavioral sport psychology. Many principles of applied behavioral analysis have
been incorporated in individualized behavior change programs intervening on
improving sport skills and performance among athletes. Methods such as shaping,
goal setting, behavior skills training, performance feedback, and modelling will be
further discussed. This paper will also outline the effectiveness of these behavioral
procedures in improving sport skill and performance across targeted populations,
environmental contexts, and socially significant behaviors in the field. Upon

According to studies conducted by Harrison Pyles (2013) and Tai Miltenberger
(2017), some of the targeted participants or groups of interest in this field include
young male football athletes ranging between 10 to 17 years of age. Interventions
for these participants were typically conducted on football fields either independent
of or during regularly schedules practice times, thus serving as complex immediate
environments where targeted behaviors are most likely to occur (Harrison Pyles,
2013; Tai Miltenberger, 2017). The socially significant behaviors of these studies
were to improve safety skills and effectiveness of football players through shaping
and incorporating BST to train safe tackling techniques. According to Harrison Pyles
(2013), to strengthen the dependent variable, tackling, it was ideal to consider
training aspects of correct tackling such as angles, making contact with face mask and
shoulders, using one s arms and feet to stop the players motions, and lastly bringing
the player down. Thus, following shaping procedures as those mentioned above while
using instruction, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback all components of BST,
execution of appropriate tackling techniques will

Society s Reliance On Renewable Energy
Society s reliance on the burning of fossil fuels for energy threatens to harm the
environment. Transitioning from a fossil fuel energy economy to a solar based one
will not harm the Earth. Rather than pursuing a harmful energy policy in which big
corporations continue to overload the ecosystem with fossil fuels, society could be
using local renewable energysources. The fossil fuelcompanies who have grown rich
extracting raw materials from the ground want to interfere and co opt with the
expansion of renewable energy. People need to start a solar revolution focusing on
clean energy built from the grassroots up. It is necessary to begin transitioning to
renewable sources and start adopting solar and wind power. Renewable energy has
the ability to play a major role in the energy industry of the twenty first century.
Shell and other big oil companies are ironically investing in renewable energy
sources. Environmental experts realize that renewable energy helps reduce
emissions of greenhouse gases. They also predict that by the year 2050, renewable
power may grow to supply half the world s energy. It may seem unreachable, but
generating electricity by using the constant power of the sun and wind is already a
reality. Solar power relies on the energy produced by the sun, storing energy for
nighttime as well. This energy can be converted in many ways, such as simple water
heating or by the direct conversion of sunlight to energy using mirrors or boilers
(Riley). Solar panel
The Convention Center Is The Host Of The Independent
Party...
The Charlotte Convention center is proud to be the host of the Independent party
convention; throughout the convention we will be the host to the various activities
that will enhance the party s incentives. During political conventions there are a lot of
activities that happen throughout the course of these events. The event planning
committee is preparing for a wide range of events such as speeches, nomination
process, seminars, the stating of the party platform, and parades. While all these
activities have a certain amount of riskinvolved, parades and the demonstrations that
occur during a political convention provide a greater amount of risk. As a result, the
following risk managementplan will address the risk associated with parades and
demonstrations, and offer solution that will reduce the risks associated with these
events. A parade is a public celebration of a special day or event that usually
includes many people and groups moving down a street by marching or riding in
cars or on special vehicles (called floats) (Simple Definition of Parade, 2015,
para.1). When planning a parade there is plenty of risks that can happen, which
can cause harm to the attendees. As a result, strict guidelines on the manner the
parade will happen will be developed and communicated with all the stakeholders of
the parade. The first guideline that will be developed to mitigate the risk of the
parade is the creation of a fire safety parade code. The fire marshal will be a key
How Colonial Life Was Like In The 1600 s
The movie Keeping the Promise , shows examples of how colonial life was like in
the 1600 s. For example, in the movie, it showed how life was like with the Fever
/Disease when James died because of the fever also how the family could not board
the ship because the town they came from had the fever. Moreover, the conflicts
with the Indians described in the movie relate back to how it was in real life during
that time. Indians didn t like the white men in the movie just like in real life. The
Indians described how white men raided their village, one man was Loomis. Loomis
can be described as a Frontiersman which happened pretty often in the colonial time
of America. Once Matt meets Saknis and Attean his preconceptions about them is that

The Cranberries Pros And Cons
The Cranberries The cranberries originally started out at The Cranberry Saw Us.
Based out of Limerick Ireland. After their original singer left the band put out an
ad in 1990 for a female singer. Dolores O Riordan responded and after coming up
with a rough draft of the song Linger was hired immediately. After Dolores joined
the band released a mix tape that sold out the 300 original copies. After this the
band decided to shorten its name to The Cranberries. The band consisted of
vocalist Dolores O Riordan, Noel Hogan as guitarist, Mike Hogan as the bassist
and Fergal Lawler as the drummer. The band s music style fell under the
alternative rock genre but is sometimes referred to as Celtic Rock. A few of the
main influences that the band listed are R.E.M, U2, and Peter Gabriel. Fallowing
their initial success the band decided to release another mix tape that consisted of
the early versions of two of their biggest songs. The hype from this release caught
the band a lot of attention which eventually ended up in record labels in a bidding
war over the young band. When the dust settled the band had signed on with island
records. The all of the albums that the band released in the 1990 s were released

Factoring and Forfaiting Novel Financial Tools
(A Boon for Financing Receivables in Domestic and International Trade)
Krishnarao L Ukey
Review:
This article deals with two novel financial services availed by the organization for
working capital management, namely Factoring and Forfaiting. While these
services are commonly used in many foreign countries, in spite of its huge
advantages they are less popular and less in vogue in India. It is nearly impossible
for any producer, manufacturer and service provider to sell the goods and services
without offering credit though credit sales have certain inherent risks like risks of
bad debts and other incidental and consequential risks. Factoring and Forfaiting offers
best solution for these problems. Factoring involves the conversion of credit bills
into cash and the risks associated with it are borne by the factoring agents. The
unique feature of Factoring Agencies is offering services in one package by
financing inventories and receivables thus helping the organization to unlock the
money in working capital. Factoring is also called Invoice Discounting or
Receivables Discounting which can be with recourse or without recourse. The

Media Stereotypes
(2002), they expanded on this concept by showing that 0.8% (out of 600 articles)
of these mentally ill individuals were quoted directly, with the use of their own
words. This further shows that mentally ill individuals are not given enough say,
and this could be a problem. Perhaps if they were given a voice, stigma could be
reduced if people saw that they weren t as dangerous as the media makes them out
to be. Another study conducted by Roberts, Bourne, and Basden (2013) shows that
these results are seen in different countries. Their study, conducted in Bermuda,
analyzed newspapers for a twenty year period from 1991 2011. They examined a
sample of 277 newspaper articles, coded for mentions of mental illness. They found

This stigma, present in different forms of media, creates an extremely negative
picture of both mentally ill individuals and those who help treat mentally ill
individuals. Previous research has discovered that representations of mental
illness in fictional media can negatively influence public images of mental illness,
which can perpetuate stigma (Pirkis et al. 2005). Previous research by Granello et
al. (1999) examined what type of media had the most significant impact on
attitudes surrounding mental illness. Granello et al. (1999) found that those who
received the majority of their information from electronic media were less tolerant
of mentally ill individuals, and had higher levels of stigma. The results showed
that those who favored electronic media were more likely to favor authoritarian
and socially restrictive views towards mental illness, as well as less likely to
positively view mental illness treatment in the community in a positive way. These
results were similar to those found by Lopez (1991), who found that adolescents
were less accepting of mentally ill individuals, and desired more social distance,
when mass media was a source of their information about mentally ill individuals.
The concept of social distance has been used in other studies, such as those done by
Link et al. (1999), who found that the strong desire for social distance represents

Doing Documentary Work Summary
Doing Documentary Work by Robert Coles In Doing Documentary Work, Robert
Coles raises important questions on the topic of fieldwork between the mid 1930s
mid 1960s. Majority of the work that he discusses throughout his book is conducted
in Alabama, highlighting parts of the Great Depression to segregation in America
during the civil rights movement. Coles, cites an author throughout his book by the
name of James Agee. Agee worked for Fortune Magazine in the 1930s, he was sent
down south to conduct fieldwork in Central Alabama. During his time there, Agee
conducted his work with host families that let him document their daily life, for they
were the subject of his work. Agee struggled morally to report on what he was
witnessing during his time in the community. Agee s work would no longer be
reported in an objective manner, for his documentation of these migrant framers was
emotionally charged: with feelings of remorse, sadness, anger, scorn, and self
disgust; consequently, his work became very subjective. Subjective work, is
conducted in a first person perspective, meaning that the work is no longer free of
opinionating documentation. However, Agee didn t care, he later... Show more

they tried to rush the process of documentation, if they didn t get what they wanted,
they felt annoyed or disinterested in continuing their research (Location 870). As

Nux Vomica Homeopathy
Nux Vomica Homeopathy Remedy for Headache
Homeopathy, the practice of medicine that embraces a holistic, natural approach to

Ancient Egyptian Astronomy
Ancient Egyptian Astronomy vs. Mayan Culture Astronomy Joella L. Cain UMUC
Ancient Egyptian Astronomy vs. Mayan Culture Astronomy Astronomy is probably
the most ancient natural science in the history of the world. It is the study of celestial
objects, such as planets, moons, stars, galaxies, and comets; in terms of mathematics,
psychics, and chemistry. Earlier civilization studied astronomy by observations,
whereas, now the focus is more on the physics and chemistry of the celestial bodies.
Humans have evolved to become the most intelligent species, where we now have
advanced technology and even education. However, ancient intelligence is
incomparable, in which they deserve farmore credit. Some may look back and say
ancient ancestors were uncivilized and that their beliefs were foolish, but look at how
they were genius enough to watch movements of the stars to understand, predict, and
track time. They had no advanced technology, yet they managed to build monuments,
pyramids, and other historical sites that matched the movement of celestial objects
and their patterns. The ancestors used astronomy for their religion/beliefs, their
architectural sites, agriculture, navigation, calendars, etc. Although in the past,
ancient cultures were separated by thousands of miles, they all shared the
commonality of studying the stars. Archaeoastronomy is the study of how the people
of the past integrated their observations of the sky into their culture, and what

Effects Of Sahel Desertification
The desertification of Sahel is causing devastating environmental issue in Africa.
Desertification is the process of how fertile land becomes desert. This is usually
cause by drought, deforestation, or poor agriculture planning. If it is overgrazed
fields, or even the increase of wood needed to burn, human interaction has helped
advance the expansion of desertification.
The area currently surrounding Khartoum, Sudan was once covered in small forests,
but because of the increasing need for farm land and wood fuel, the forest has
become another victim of desertification. The tropical rain forest on the border of
Sahel, is also being slowly affected by desertification. In addition, the increasing
amount of irrigation systems and drilling are changing

What is the biblical basis for deity?
Several basis of deity is that demonstration would show of God like attributes,
teachings being consistent and correspond to the wisdom of God. As Jesus deity he

That to Him is saying that you are the son of the father of lies.
What are the common objections to the traditional understanding of Christology, and
how do you respond to them?
Some objections were it being a philosophical idea than it being historical
revelation. Another was that there is no divine production of the world or there
being three different people but as a union. There s another one saying that Jesus
didn t fully become man and didn t have the true things of man. How I would
respond to this is by starting off with saying yes it is true that He didn t fully
become man, but He still have all things that man have reason is because He would
not be able to come to save our souls and prolong our lives as well as being kept
from condemnation to the point where you won t have no chance to tell God who
you are. We would have been sent straight to hell without no anymore chances at all.
But for Apollinaris saying He didn t have any man like qualities or attributes that
will show that He has came to us as a man.
In what ways is Christ in his humanity an example to you?
He is an example to me in a way that Love will and can conquer all. Also, being led
by the Father leads you in the right direction, give you knowledge and wisdom to do
or say. That trusting in Him you can receive things that are really more substantial

Argument On Lying
I m not upset that you lied to me, I m upset that from now on I can t believe you.
These were the famous words Friedrich Nietzsche spoke and almost everyone in
this world can probably relate to it.Lying seems so universal, but no one can really
agree if it s warranted or not. After reviewing a few opinionated and factual articles
on lying, the opinionated conclusion is lying is almost always never justified unless
it is to protect someone from getting hurt. In A Philosopher On Lying , by Mary
Alder, a philosopher named, Immanuel Kant, has his perspective on lying as, Don t
tell someone a lie, Kant said, because then you are not treating that person with
respect, as an individual. .This statement at first glance may seem valid, but let s
take a closer look.If your mom had breast cancer and she told you about it but, said
not to mention it to your dad for fear that he might get a heart attack, what would
you do? Especially what shall you do if he asks you if you know anything about
your mom acting weird lately? The majority of you reading this most likely have
switched sides against Immanuel Kant, but, for those who think, Well, surely he
must have had made an exception about protecting someone s life, you are wrong.
Immanuel Kant believes, ...it s not about the size of the lie any lie, even one to save
someone s life, is dangerous. so if he was in that situation, he wouldn t care if it
risked his father s life. Therefore, that is the flaw in Immanuel Kant s argument,
Descartes Position Of Epistemology
Epistemology examines the power of knowledge in a variety of subjects, such nature
and human behaviour. Epistemological solipsism is the theory of this knowledge,
which brings forth the idea that the only mind any person can only be certain of, is
his or her own mind. Descartes spent a great deal of focus on the mind, and is
probably most famous for his conclusion of I think, therefore I exist . But what
does he mean when he says I think , and how does it relate to this theory that the
only mind an individual can be certain of is their own? This paper will divulge into
the basis of Descartes statement, as well as discuss the proposition of Descartes
position of epistemological solipsism, to explain Descartes position of the multiple
methods of knowledge and truths.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He begins by with the premise of the testimony of others, and outlines numerous
ways in which accepting the testimony of others can be detrimental. He also makes
an analogy to beeswax as a human body in order to add to his explanation of the
physical and sensory worlds. Descartes uses his perceptions of the sensory world,
and the ability to doubt the existence and thought of everything around him.
Through this doubt, he is able to deduce that there is the ability to be certain of one
thing: that the only mind he can be certain of is his own. These proofs work for the
position Descartes has with regards to epistemological solipsism, while
demonstrating that his proposition can be proven to be sound through the level of
thought he had put into developing this proposition. It is because Descartes holds a
high value to knowledge, as well as understanding the source of this knowledge, that
he can be seen as an epistemological solipsist. By allowing himself to question the
ideas that he had not previously doubted, he was able to expand his mind, and arrive
to the conclusions outlines in both Meditations One and

This will make it easier for clients to buy from TRO relative to their competition. This
scenario of course assumes that TRO offers superior products to their competition.
TRO by default will increase the number of units sold if they are able to increase
the number of clients and frequency of purchase. But they can also increase the
number of units sold by understanding how to add value. For example TRO can
offer existing clients some discount say 20% if they buy more volume or let clients
have their products and let them pay later.
2.2SWOT Analysis
We have ascertained the three things above that must happen before growth can
occur be it in territories that TRO currently have sales people or territories like Ohio,
Indiana, Michigan, Denver and California that Steve is looking to move into.
Steve has to perform a SWOT analysis on the current territories he has sales people
to consolidate before looking to expand to other territories.
What are TRO strengths in the nine territories east of the Mississippi river? Can
these strengths be duplicated in the new territories they want to enter? For example
TRO is known for its service and ability to provide specialized products and not
price. So Steve has to be sure that in the new territories they will find customers that

The Is Not Our Type
On Monday, September 14, my partner and I set out to find someone that was Not
our Type . When I first heard about the assignment I was extremely nervous for
what would lie ahead. I m not a very talkative person and hardly ever just have
random conversations with people that I don t know. I knew that this assignment
would certainly get me out of my comfort zone, and cause me to really branch out. A
huge part of talking to others about Christ is to just start up a simple conversationto
work off of. It can become even more difficult when someone has a different
background or separate moral values. I was by no means looking forward to the
awkwardness that would possibly lie ahead, we decided that the best place to start
would be Walmart since people are there 24/7. We walked in at around 9 p.m. and
started our search. After about 20 minutes we finally decided to make our move on
someone. We walked up to a young man that looked to be in high school and began
our conversation. We started off by just introducing ourselves and telling him that we
were working on an assignment and just wanted to get to know him a little bitbetter.
The conversationactually flowed really well and we had a lot in common like our
love for sports and technology. His name is Dilan Patel and he s a junior at Siloam
High. You can probably tell by the last name that Dilan is Indian. I knew going into
the conversation that he would be very different from us morally, ethnically, and even
physically.
Lincoln First Inaugural Analysis
The article from the book is document No. 5, which is Abraham Lincoln s First
Inaugural on March 4, 1861. The other article is from the Chicago Tribune, and the
title is The Inauguration!: Pacific Induction of Mr. Lincoln to the presidency. This
article was published on March 5, 1861. The basic difference between two articles
is that one talks about what happened the day and night at the senator chamber and
covers Lincoln s Inaugural while the other one only has Lincoln s Inaugural, with
some parts omitted. The similarity is that both articles are related to Lincoln s
inaugural. In the article published on the Chicago Tribune, which is a newspaper, it
talks about what happened ath the Senate chamber the day and the night before
Lincoln s first inaugural. The galleries were filled with people from Indiana,
Vermont, and other places, who came all the way just wish to have a look at the
proceedings. It describers the heated debate that lasted all... Show more content on

It talks about how people were eager to see the proceedings, what was the order of
arrangements settled by the Committee, and what happened before the arrival of the
presidential party. The article on the book does not have any description like that of
the article on the newspaper, but it provides some background information of what
kind of situation Abraham Lincoln was facing and a few key points of Lincoln s
speech. The article on the newspaper also has the original Inaugural address while
the article on the book omits the opening of the speech and many parts of the
Inaugural address. One similarity of both articles is that they are both related to
Lincoln s First Inaugural Address. In conclusion, Abraham Lincoln s first inaugural
plays an important part in the American history, his belief in the Union made him a
true leader for the United States of
Marxist Theory Of Disney And Pixar Films
How Marxist theory is presented in Disney/Pixar films, with a focus on Toy Story 3
and Wall E.
There are many films around that reflect Marxist theories, however one that seems
out of place, and as though it shouldn t, is Disney. There are many theories present in
Disney films, from feminist theory being reflected in Disney princesses to Marxist
theory being quite prominent throughout their films, but more so in films such as
Toy Story 3 and Wall E.
Karl Marx (1818 1883) was a revolutionary German economic theorist and
communist with many publications on sociology, economics and politics. Many
of his writings can be used and applied into the media. Marx stated that in
prehistoric times, people had no concept of private ownership, and everything was
shared freely. There was no government to rule over everyone, but small tribes of
people who each had their own leaders. This was known as primitive communism.
As time went by, people became greedy and craved wealth. Private ownership of
land led to the class system developing, with the upper class owning the land that
the lower classes lived on and worked off. This became the feudal system, which
was headed by a king. This system suited the upper class however it also meant that
the lower class was always kept at the bottom, with no way of moving up from their
positions. Industrialisation in the 1700 s meant that power in society fell into the
hands of the wealthy, as they owned the land and had the money to build factories,
The Sun Also Rises Past Events
In many works of literature past events can affect, positively or negatively, the present
actions, attitudes, or values of a character. In many books, the characters with the
most unfavorable backgrounds surface their pains and deal with the emotional
burdens in detrimental ways. A reader can note that certain characters conform to
what causes them grief in what seems like a positive way, but eventually becomes the
bane of their existence. In the novel, The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemmingway,
many characters had to succumb to their pastwhich caused them strife in the long run.
Hemmingway shines light as to why certain characters act in certain ways.
In The Sun Also Rises Hemmingway tells about the troubles of certain characters.
With the information Hemmingway distributes, a reader can unearth and make
obvious as to why characters behave in that manner Lady Brett Ashely, for instance,
showcases herself as a Jezebel. Her past relationships affect how she interacts with
men negatively. Lady Brett had been in an abusive relationship; her ex husband had

The reader can note, for example, that Jake Barnes animosity toward Cohn is
because of his experience in the war. Barnes was injured during the war. This
injury left him unable to perform sexual relations, thus causing his feelings and
showing of inadequacy. This inadequacy, in turn, was a story line in itself because
it helped develop Cohn as a character. That is, if it had not been for Barnes feeling
of inadequacy, and, therefore bullying of Cohn, then Cohn would have not grown
into himself. Furthermore, Barnes is purposeless after the war. The war gave him
meaning in life, and made him someone. After his injury and the ending of the war
he lacks purpose. He shows the lost hope in the time. He wonders around aimlessly
drinking at bars showing the escape that he wants but can only attain in that state of
The Last House On Wes Craven Research Paper
Wes Craven was a writer, director, producer, and he was known for his innovative
work on horror films that showed his creative imagination through his work. During
his career, Craven won nine cinematic awards and received three nominations. His
films, Scream, The Last House on the Left, The Hills Have Eyes, and A Nightmare
on Elm Street reinvented the horror genre today. His films didn t show ghosts or
monsters, it showed the nightmare of real life violence. Throughout Wes Craven s
career, he took the horror genre to new and unpredictable places. Craven s first film
was The Last House on the Left in 1972 which he filmed and directed and only had
the budget of $90,000. The Last House on the Left captured the mood of what was

His theme was that even the most civilized person can be capable of doing barbaric
acts. Wes Craven went to dark places to make movies and mostly focused on the
fear everybody has deep down inside. Craven based most of his horror films off of
rage that was happening in his life. Last House on the Left was based on the rage
of making his first movie, broke, and how no one knew of him. He wanted to see
what would come out of a movie based on his feelings and about life at the moment
or in his past. Craven s films set new waves for future filmmakers to strive for. He
was able to combine the brutal and the thoughtful into his films and tried to get
into his mind and heart. Craven made some of films confrontational about what is
going on in society or his films show moments that grab you at the throat. He uses
different methods to capture his audience to really scare them. For example, in the
first twenty minutes of Scream is intense, scary, and bloody and he captures the
audiences attention with the first scene of the movie and it refused to play by the
rules. Craven made his films that were about the here and now, it wasn t about
fantasy. He believed the scariest idea was what is close to home, what we know
best and what we think we trust. The horror genre shows what we are not
comfortable in and honestly shows what we are like as a society or as families.
The Dictatorial Prospero of Shakespeare s The Tempest
Essay
The Dictatorial Prospero of The Tempest
Motivation often propels people to achieve high goals. Sometimes, however,
motivation is too strong a tool and can manifest into selfish desires. The exploitation
of the weak invariably results from the strong abusing their power, especially in a
political setting. In William Shakespeare s The Tempest , Prospero is displayed as a
tyrannical character who spawns a disastrous storm as part of a grand scheme to
regain his title of Duke of Milan. His subsequent treatment of each character in the
play, even his beloved daughter are purely based on his self centered motives.
Prospero can be seen as an overbearing racist, as well as a usurper to land that does
not belong to him, but rather to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To the more sympathetic view it can be seen that these questions are not from a
controlling point of view, but paranoia regarding how his daughter perceives the
conversation. However, after his long speech, he then uses his magic to control her
into lulling her into a sleep when he is done talking to her. Is this the action of a
loving or a controlling father, a question which individually you can answer
differently.
Even Miranda s romantic affairs are not free from her father s meddling and
controlling. Prospero admits, It goes on [Ferdinand and Miranda s amorous
glances], I see, as my soul prompts it (1.2.422 424). Even though he has created this
love affair through his magic, he plays with both Ferdinand s and Miranda s
emotions by enslaving Ferdinand to menial work while the rest of his evil demise
is carried out. Driven only by selfish motives, Prospero is not concerned with his
daughter s state of well being but how she can be used as a pawn within his games.
As the play progresses Prospero gives his daughter away in marriage to Ferdinand
without even consulting first with her. His selfish motives become more apparent
when he extensively warns Ferdinand against pre marital sex. Prospero view upon
Miranda s virginity is that it is a prize for him to give away. Without her virginity,
she would not be a valuable asset to him, which is why Prospero calls upon the help
of the three goddesses
V For Vendetta And 1984 Comparison
The novels V for Vendetta and 1984, although similar in a plethora of ways, hold
the most importance within their differences. V for Vendetta is a graphic novel
written by Alan Moore created to illustrate the fictional world of the future
England. This England is taken over by fascism and shows how the people react
and rebel. 1984 is a novel written by George Orwell. This dystopian book was
written in 1949 as a prediction of the future. 1984 is about a world controlled
completely by its government through manipulation and strict laws. 1984 was
written after World War II with an intention to warn its readers of what could come
if he or she was not careful. In 1936, Orwell ventured to Spain to write about the
Spanish Civil War which handed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both novels not only entertain but also inform. During critical times throughout
our history these two stories were created and still hold the same amount of
extensive importance as they did when they were first published. Orwell and
Moore use suspense and symbolism to capture its readers. They warn its readers of
the future ahead of them if they do not stand up when they know that something is
not right. 1984 serves a powerful message of a society that strips you of your
individuality, freedom, and privacy during a time of leadership that was trying to
do just that. The novel fills the reader with suspense while they create a connection
with the main character, Winston Smith. George Orwell uses his creativity to twist
every aspect of the novel into a symbol for something else. The three powers
Oceania, Eastasia, and Eurasia are all three acting as the three world power during
WWII and the strict rules of that society represent Hitler s ruling (Matthews). V for
Vendetta represents Moore s thrive for anarchy during a time of harsh rule and
fascism. The graphic novel has remained influential throughout its entire existence
and is becoming even more important once again due to recent political turmoil. The
novel takes you through a time when fascism has taken over while also giving you a
hero to get you through
Emotional Trauma and the Adolescent Brain Essay example
There are many types of trauma that can effect an adolescent and without the proper
treatment of the traumatic event the adolescent can have difficulty adapting and
developing into adulthood. Kathleen J. Moroz, of the Vermont Agency of Human
Services, defines trauma as a physical or psychological threat or assault to a child s
physical integrity, sense of self, safety of survival or to the physical safety of
another person significant to the child. She goes on to list the types of trauma a child
may be exposed to. Abuse of every kind, domestic violence, natural disasters,
abandonment, serious illness or an accident are just a few traumatic events that can
effect the development of a child. (2) When these events occur as an acute event...

PTSD may be accompanied by other types of mild cognitive impairment, such as
relatively impoverished autobiographic memory for positive events, as well as
problems with attention, working memory, and the learning of novel word
associations, suggesting the disruption of neural mechanisms affecting specific brain
circuits. PTSD is a form of dissociation and involves two distinct parts that effect the
consciousness and behavior of an adolescent. One is numb and avoidant of traumatic
memories, but more or less functional in daily life, and another is enmeshed in
traumatic memories (Diseth 83). These elements of dissociation cause attachment
and adaptive disorders that will perpetrate further harm to the adolescent. Trauma is
related to other behaviors in adolescents, such s numbing, social withdrawal,
separation anxiety and new fears. There are four elements that an adolescent will
react to in a crisis situation. First, the emotional responses involve anger, shock, grief,
a sense of helplessness, loss of pleasure in everyday activities, terror, guilt and even
phobias. These emotional responses then result in cognitive distortions such as
impaired decision making, lowered self esteem, worry, memory impairment and
nightmares. The physical effects of the emotional and cognitive changes can also be
a detriment of the adolescents health due to having
Fear Of Death In Hamlet
One of the most common fears is that of death. This fear does not often stem from
the process itself, but rather the question of what occurs after. Do we begin living
another life? Will that life be better or worse than the one we previously led? These
questions are filled with uncertainty, and the impossibility of answering them
produces distress. In Hamlet, Hamlet struggles with the challenge of answering such
questions himself when he laments, To sleep, perchance to dream ay, there s the rub
/ For in that sleep of deathwhat dreams may come / When we have shuffled off this
mortal coil, / Must give us pause. There s the respect / That makes calamity of so
long life (3.1.66 70). Within Shakespeare s tragedy, the text signifies the fearof the
unknown by exploring Hamlet s uneasy contemplation of life after death. By
characterizing the aftereffects of death as dreams, Hamlet creates a metaphor and
implies that we all wish to experience that final sleep, but it is the uncertainty of
what may come that prevents us from doing so of our own accord. Each night, we
close our eyes and take a gamble; our sleep may consist of a pleasant fantasy, a
horrible nightmare, or nothing at all. Just as we prepare ourselves for sleep each
night, unsure if our impending visions will be those of horror or delight, we ready
ourselves for death. However, we voluntarily succumb to sleep with the promise of
reawakening, but it is the finality of death that prohibits us from being as willing
The Weakness of Ophelia Essay
Ophelia s madness was brought on by a multitude of medical and social factors.
Cultural restrictions always determined a woman s behavior. Her lack of a mother,
even that of a mother figure left Ophelia without any source of a female advisor. On
top of the lack of a major female figure, her father was overbearing and selfish.
However, his sudden death at the hands of Hamlettruly left her alone. Madness is
usually brought on by depression, medically speaking, and Ophelia suffered a
broken heart. She loved Hamlet, but she was forced to obey her father as in that
society considered women not as people, they were objects to be owned. There also
is a theory where Ophelia is pregnant and the sudden change of hormones plus the
social stigma of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the late sixteenth century, men held power, not only over women, but also over
their children, servants and/or apprentices they had. In extreme cases, women
were sometimes viewed as objects; and in this inferiority women needed to strive
for four virtues: obedience, chastity, silence, and piety (Traub, 129 30). Without
such virtues women were subjected to the torture of social solitude and ridicule as
well as assuring a man s dominance. Women were defined in society primarily by
their economic status but what closely followed was one of the virtues they strove
to obey, chastity. Being virginal, if unmarried, and faithfulness to her husband, if
married, marked how they were viewed by others. If they were not chaste, the entire
population may as well know of such and that would bring immense shame upon her
family, and any associated with her. Ophelia is a girl caught within a society,
backwards it may seem, but appropriate for the century in which Hamlet was written.
Ophelia s lack of a mother was not mentioned but none the less obvious. She might
have died from disease or complications in birth. Though she did not have a mother
during her teenage years, Gertrude occasionally posed as a surrogate mother figure to
Ophelia. This was assured due to her
Who Is King Daniel
[2]In the beautiful city of Babylon, there once lived a man named Daniel. [1]He
was an advisor to the king. Daniel was different from the other advisors. He
believed in the one true God. One day, two of the king s other advisors watched as
Daniel diligently prayed to God. [6]They hated Daniel. He was always praying to
God for guidance and he was always honest. He wanted to do the right thing. The
advisors despised him because of that. Then one day, as they watched Daniel pray,
they came up with an evil idea. They would write up a document that would say
that no one would be allowed to pray. [5]If they disobeyed this law they would be
thrown into the Lion s Den like a piece of meat. [3]Suddenly, one day after the king
had signed the document, they caught him defying the law and praying any way.
They rushed into his room and dragged him to the king s throne room. [4]Forcing

around him. He then began praying to God to keep him safe if it was His will.
God heard Daniel s prayers and sent an angel to close the snarling mouths of the
lions. [2]Throughout the night, none of the lions ever bothered him. Some of
them even wanted to cuddle. [3]Unceasingly, Daniel prayed all night. [5] As he sat
in the darkness untouched, he knew the advisors would come back in the morning
to see if he had been killed, which was what they wanted to happen. The next
morning Daniel saw streams of light peering thru the top of the entrance.
[4]Hearing a noise above him, Daniel looked up. The king, who had worried about
him all night, was prying the top off the cavern. Daniel, he shouted, are you alive?
Did the God you believe and trust in protect you? Daniel answered him and told him
that God had taken care of him and that he had sent an angel to close the mouths of
the lions. The king then sent for help so that they could pull Daniel out of the deep
Global Warming And Its Effects
Global Warming
The earth is getting warmer, animals and their habitats are declining, human health
is at risk and the cause of all this terror is Global Warming. Global warming will
cause many parts of the world to change. In the next 50 years climate change could
be the cause of more than a million terrestrial species becoming extinct. Sea levels
will raise which means more flooding and is not good for the plants. With too
much water the plants will die and herbivores will lose their food source as well as
their habitats. As a result the food chain will be broken and survival for any creature
is slim to none. In conclusion, Global Warming is an important issue, but before we
can devise any solutions we must first understand the causes. This paper will focus
on the causes of global warming and argue that excessive carbon dioxide emissions is
the predominate cause. This paper will start of briefly discussing the history of
Global Warming (GW) by explaining how greenhouse gases contribute to GW
through the greenhouse effect and how production of these gases has increased along
with rise in global temperatures. Next, it will explain the causes of global warming
including carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrus oxide (fertilizer) emissions. The
strengths and the weaknesses of each cause will be looked at; prompting the
conclusion that inflated carbon dioxide emissions are the essential driver. The final
segment of the paper will conclude and explain policy
Japanese Comfort Women
Japanese Comfort Women
It is estimated that between one and two hundred thousand female sex slaves were
forced to deliver sexual services to Japanese soldiers, both before and during World
War II. These women were known as comfort women and the Imperial Conference,
which was composed of the emperor, representatives from the armed forces and the
main Cabinet ministers, approved their use by Japanese soldiers. (Walkom)
The term comfort women refers to the victims of a premeditated systematic plan
originated and implemented by the government of Japan to enslave women
considered inferior and subject them to repeated mass rapes, said Michael D.
Hausefeld, one of over 35 lawyers in his firm representing the former sexual prisoners

In Japan, infected women were killed. Their food was mixed with cyanide, their
bodies taken to a cave and finally, the cave was blown up with a grenade.
The comfort houses made money off these women and it is believed that the
Japanese government paid them, as most of the soldiers paid by coupons. As soon
as the war was finished, the Japanese Imperialist guards disappeared without trace.
Most comfort women describe the experience this way, Suddenly, the soldiers came
no more, and upon asking we found that the war had ended. In other regions, as the
Japanese committed harikari , the women were forced to do the same. In extreme
cases, the women were put in a cave and blown up.
After the war, many of the comfort women were too sick to be moved and were
taken under the care of the American army. Most of the women were left with no
place to go, as they were in a strange country with no money, and were too
humiliated to go home. According to one comfort woman, my body s wasted,
therefore I do not dare go home in fear of being ignored and looked down upon.
Even after the war ended, the comfort women were not free. Their guilty minds and
inferiority complexes kept them from returning home and they stayed in foreign
countries. The small amount that married, were often forced to separate after the fact
that they were comfort women was known, or they were divorced because they could
not have children.
The victims are still

  • 1. Introduction Sentences For Essays Writing an essay on the topic of "Introduction Sentences for Essays" may initially seem like a straightforward task, but delving into the intricacies of crafting effective opening statements can pose challenges. The difficulty lies in striking the right balance between capturing the reader's attention and providing a clear preview of the essay's content. Crafting engaging and compelling introduction sentences requires a deep understanding of the subject matter, as well as a keen awareness of the audience's expectations. One must navigate through the nuances of language, considering the tone, style, and word choice that will resonate with the intended readership. The challenge intensifies as the writer strives to avoid clichГ©s and predictability, aiming for originality to make the introduction stand out. Achieving coherence and flow is essential, ensuring that the introductory sentences seamlessly transition into the body of the essay. Moreover, the writer must grapple with the pressure to set the right tone for the entire piece, establishing credibility and creating a foundation for the reader's engagement. Balancing informativeness with brevity is yet another hurdle, as an introduction that is too lengthy may lose the reader's interest, while one that is too succinct might fail to provide adequate context. In conclusion, the task of crafting introduction sentences for essays is a delicate art that demands a nuanced understanding of language, subject matter, and audience expectations. It requires a writer's skill to navigate the fine line between engaging the reader and delivering a concise yet informative preview of the essay's content. • 4. What Is My Ideal Country Essay When I picture the ideal society, it is everything that my homeland, Sweden, is not. Everything that I hate about Sweden, everything that makes me dislike this country, does not exist there at all. In the land of my dreams, the weather is warm and the sun is shining at all times. On the days where the sun shines too bright, you can go for a swim in the turquoise ocean to cool off. That is mainly what I would like to do after long days of work, just go to the ocean, lie on the beach with white, fine sand and coconut trees surrounding the premises. There are also many activities that keeps the visitors entertained, which easily happens when you go to the beach everyday. There are bouncy castles in the ocean near the beach, you can go surfing, snorkelling to check out the magnificent sea life and you can also rent a luxurious boat for as long as you wantfor a vacation on the sea. That really makes it easy to keep life constantly interesting. One activity that probably is my favorite one, is to discover all... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would like to see my utopia as a combination of Switzerland regarding economy and infrastructure, Australia or Thailand with its tropical and beautiful nature and friendly people, and New Yoek with its shopping and city life. These are some of the countries in the world that I love the most and combined, they are absolutely perfect. In other words, the country I just described, is a country I would love to spend the rest of my life
  • 5. China s One-Child Policy Over population is an extremely serious problem facing the world today. According to an article from Newsweek in Oct. 2009 called Where do babies come from? , today s world population has reached over 6.6 billion people. Also the article mentioned that in 2009 57.4% of all new born babies who were born this year came from Asia alone. This is an issue because over population can lead to hasty consumption of resources. China who has one of the largest population in the world with over 1.3 billion people, has taken a stance against over population. By introducing China s One Child Policy(Family PlanningPolicy) in 1979, China hopes to decrease its country s annual population growth. China has implemented the policy by many different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The book also discusses the teaching of family planning in school at a young age and in the community for young women. Using propaganda to help the people of China to be aware of family planning has significantly help decrease China s population. According to an article written by Davis Kingsley called The Political Impact of New Population Trends , by using propaganda China has help pushed its people to accept and embrace the One Child Policy even if they have to resort to stretching the truth (pg. 7). By using drastic measures to help decrease population growth China has implanted deception to its people. According to Kingsley, the most shocking information that China s health officials have given its people as to why postponing marriage is a good decision. Kingsley discover that China s health officials state that intercourse before the age of mid to late twenties is detrimental to the development of the body (pg. 9). Though the use of propaganda to implement the One Child Policy is significantly decreasing China s population growth, the use of deception in China s propaganda message is an unethical way for the government to play with its people ignorance and faith in the political system. Another approach to implement China s One Child Policy is by taxation or paying a certain amount of money for fines. Fines or taxation amounts are based on the family s

The Element That Changed The World The Element That Changed the World In world history an event with the span of only two days seems insignificant in comparison to the other 4.5 billion years, but it is hard to imagine a life without these days being deemed insignificant. Thirty years ago an explosion directly changed the lives of over 135,000 people and indirectly affected the rest of the world. The effects of Chernobyl have been powerful throughout the past three decades, and have influenced different aspects of our political society as well as social reforms in the Soviet Union. Not only did the explosion bring awareness to environmental concerns, but it also altered the course of the everyday citizens under the control of the USSR. Chernobyl had some disastrous and ... Most people agree that [it has] the capacity to turn the earth into a desert or make the desert bloom (4). Nuclear power is ideal in terms that it is efficient and cost effective, but it also has some downfalls. The process creates a lot of nuclear waste that is highly radioactive without a good place of disposing it, not to mention the inherently dangerous risks involved with nuclear power plants, such as explosions. The power plant at Chernobyl had 4 RBMK 1000 pressurized reactors that were cooled by water, and fueled by splitting uranium atoms. These reactors used graphite blocks that act as moderators to slow down and control the output of neutrons released during nuclear fission. Since nuclear fission and fusion produce a lot of thermal energy, water is used to cool the reactor s core. The now boiling water creates steam which is tunneled through two steam powered turbines to produce near 1,000 megawatts of electricity. The cooling systems of the reactors are extremely important to the stability of the complex. If the cooling system were to malfunction, there are series of back up cooling systems to prevent a meltdown caused by the high intensity heat produced by the uranium. If there were no cooling system at all, the graphite would turn into a radioactive molten core that would risk seeping in the ground soil, and

  • 12. Mise-En-Scene in Napoleon Dynamite In Napoleon Dynamite (Jared Hess, 2004), the character known as Napoleon Dynamite (Jon Heder) is quite a unique fellow. His quirkiness and eccentricity are what make him as a character; they are the primary traits of his personality. Keep in mind, however, that he is not the only odd character in the film, but he has his own peerless way of defining himself separate from any other character(s). This effect is achieved through certain cinematic techniques that director Jared Hess utilizes in order to bring out Napoleon s persona in ways other than simply guessing who he really is. Rather, these techniques explicitly imply certain character traits; they are like clues that allow one to see the character just as the creator intended.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This not only shows his weakness as a person, but his immaturity as well, considering that high school students typically do not resort to this sort of behavior; it is normally reserved for younger children. He is a figure of mockery to nearly everyone at school, his uncle Rico, even his own brother Kip. Albeit he hardly tries to defend himself, he does attempt to make up for it by trying to look cool, but in extremely ineffective ways. The initial instance of this phenomenon of Napoleon s is when he first meets Pedro. He brags that a gang at his school wanted him to join (specifically for his bow staff skills ), which is almost certainly not true. Also, he tells Don a ridiculous, overly exaggerated story when he went to Alaska the previous summer. He claims that he went wolverine hunting with his uncle, and shot like fifty of em . Either there is an entire flipside to Napoleon s character that is never revealed, or he is embellishing a story that may not even exist in the first place. The latter seems like a much more reasonable conclusion. Not only does he fail to seem cool to the people at school, but he does not exactly have the best skills in picking up women. In more blunt words, he is just not very smooth. One example of this is when he talks to Deb in the cafeteria, and uses the corny pickup line, I see you re

Manners and Etiquette of Pride and Prejudice Rebekah Johnson Mrs. Tencza Late European History 21 November 2012 Do s and Don ts of Pride and Prejudice In 19th century England, manners played a big role. In her book Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen portrays many different aspects of English social manners in the 1800s, and these facets of English etiquette, including traveling etiquette, social propriety, and dancing, greatly affect the plot of the book. One aspect of English social etiquette was the set of strict rules for how one was to act to appear as a socially adept person and therefore a desirable match for marriage. Situational irony, or irony in which the setting of the story contains a built in incongruity, becomes evident because the play s only setting is just one example of this type of irony. Glaspell also includes much dramatic irony, in which the speaker is less aware of the full import of his or her words than the audience is. Probably the most obvious example of situational irony in the story, the Wrights kitchen becomes the crime scene. This is ironic because it is the one room in the house, that the audience is aware of, that is overlooked by the men. The county attorney is at first unsure and questions, You re convinced that there was nothing here nothing that would point to any motive? (877). James Udden also argues in the Stubborn Persistence of Local In Wong Kar wai that Wong s popularity is credited to his typically post modern philosophy of denying his Hong Kong identity and embracing it at the same time (finnayson, p143). Coles, cites an author throughout his book by the name of James Agee. Agee worked for Fortune Magazine in the 1930s, he was sent down south to conduct fieldwork in Central Alabama. During his time there, Agee conducted his work with host families that let him document their daily life, for they were the subject of his work. Agee struggled morally to report on what he was witnessing during his time in the community. Agee s work would no longer be reported in an objective manner, for his documentation of these migrant framers was emotionally charged: with feelings of remorse, sadness, anger, scorn, and self disgust; consequently, his work became very subjective. Subjective work, is conducted in a first person perspective, meaning that the work is no longer free of opinionating documentation. However, Agee didn t care, he later... However, they didn t try to develop a working relationship with the subject, they tried to rush the process of documentation, if they didn t get what they wanted, they felt annoyed or disinterested in continuing their research (Location 870). It is the study of celestial objects, such as planets, moons, stars, galaxies, and comets; in terms of mathematics, psychics, and chemistry. Earlier civilization studied astronomy by observations, whereas, now the focus is more on the physics and chemistry of the celestial bodies. Humans have evolved to become the most intelligent species, where we now have advanced technology and even education. However, ancient intelligence is incomparable, in which they deserve farmore credit. Some may look back and say ancient ancestors were uncivilized and that their beliefs were foolish, but look at how they were genius enough to watch movements of the stars to understand, predict, and track time. They had no advanced technology, yet they managed to build monuments, pyramids, and other historical sites that matched the movement of celestial objects and their patterns. The ancestors used astronomy for their religion/beliefs, their architectural sites, agriculture, navigation, calendars, etc. Although in the past, ancient cultures were separated by thousands of miles, they all shared the commonality of studying the stars. Archaeoastronomy is the study of how the people of the past integrated their observations of the sky into their culture, and what

Descartes spent a great deal of focus on the mind, and is probably most famous for his conclusion of I think, therefore I exist . But what does he mean when he says I think , and how does it relate to this theory that the only mind an individual can be certain of is their own? Through this doubt, he is able to deduce that there is the ability to be certain of one thing: that the only mind he can be certain of is his own. These proofs work for the position Descartes has with regards to epistemological solipsism, while demonstrating that his proposition can be proven to be sound through the level of thought he had put into developing this proposition. It is because Descartes holds a high value to knowledge, as well as understanding the source of this knowledge, that he can be seen as an epistemological solipsist. By allowing himself to question the ideas that he had not previously doubted, he was able to expand his mind, and arrive to the conclusions outlines in both Meditations One and

There are many theories present in Disney films, from feminist theory being reflected in Disney princesses to Marxist theory being quite prominent throughout their films, but more so in films such as Toy Story 3 and Wall E. Karl Marx (1818 1883) was a revolutionary German economic theorist and communist with many publications on sociology, economics and politics. Many of his writings can be used and applied into the media. Marx stated that in prehistoric times, people had no concept of private ownership, and everything was shared freely. There was no government to rule over everyone, but small tribes of people who each had their own leaders. This was known as primitive communism. As time went by, people became greedy and craved wealth. Private ownership of land led to the class system developing, with the upper class owning the land that the lower classes lived on and worked off. This became the feudal system, which was headed by a king. This system suited the upper class however it also meant that the lower class was always kept at the bottom, with no way of moving up from their positions. Industrialisation in the 1700 s meant that power in society fell into the hands of the wealthy, as they owned the land and had the money to build factories,

One is numb and avoidant of traumatic memories, but more or less functional in daily life, and another is enmeshed in traumatic memories (Diseth 83). These elements of dissociation cause attachment and adaptive disorders that will perpetrate further harm to the adolescent. Trauma is related to other behaviors in adolescents, such s numbing, social withdrawal, separation anxiety and new fears. There are four elements that an adolescent will react to in a crisis situation. First, the emotional responses involve anger, shock, grief, a sense of helplessness, loss of pleasure in everyday activities, terror, guilt and even phobias. These emotional responses then result in cognitive distortions such as impaired decision making, lowered self esteem, worry, memory impairment and nightmares. The physical effects of the emotional and cognitive changes can also be a detriment of the adolescents health due to having
  • 50. Fear Of Death In Hamlet One of the most common fears is that of death. This fear does not often stem from the process itself, but rather the question of what occurs after. Do we begin living another life? Will that life be better or worse than the one we previously led? These questions are filled with uncertainty, and the impossibility of answering them produces distress. In Hamlet, Hamlet struggles with the challenge of answering such questions himself when he laments, To sleep, perchance to dream ay, there s the rub / For in that sleep of deathwhat dreams may come / When we have shuffled off this mortal coil, / Must give us pause. There s the respect / That makes calamity of so long life (3.1.66 70). Within Shakespeare s tragedy, the text signifies the fearof the unknown by exploring Hamlet s uneasy contemplation of life after death. By characterizing the aftereffects of death as dreams, Hamlet creates a metaphor and implies that we all wish to experience that final sleep, but it is the uncertainty of what may come that prevents us from doing so of our own accord. Each night, we close our eyes and take a gamble; our sleep may consist of a pleasant fantasy, a horrible nightmare, or nothing at all. Just as we prepare ourselves for sleep each night, unsure if our impending visions will be those of horror or delight, we ready ourselves for death. However, we voluntarily succumb to sleep with the promise of reawakening, but it is the finality of death that prohibits us from being as willing
  • 51. The Weakness of Ophelia Essay Ophelia s madness was brought on by a multitude of medical and social factors. Cultural restrictions always determined a woman s behavior. Her lack of a mother, even that of a mother figure left Ophelia without any source of a female advisor. On top of the lack of a major female figure, her father was overbearing and selfish. However, his sudden death at the hands of Hamlettruly left her alone. Madness is usually brought on by depression, medically speaking, and Ophelia suffered a broken heart. She loved Hamlet, but she was forced to obey her father as in that society considered women not as people, they were objects to be owned. There also is a theory where Ophelia is pregnant and the sudden change of hormones plus the social stigma of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the late sixteenth century, men held power, not only over women, but also over their children, servants and/or apprentices they had. In extreme cases, women were sometimes viewed as objects; and in this inferiority women needed to strive for four virtues: obedience, chastity, silence, and piety (Traub, 129 30). Without such virtues women were subjected to the torture of social solitude and ridicule as well as assuring a man s dominance. Women were defined in society primarily by their economic status but what closely followed was one of the virtues they strove to obey, chastity. Being virginal, if unmarried, and faithfulness to her husband, if married, marked how they were viewed by others. If they were not chaste, the entire population may as well know of such and that would bring immense shame upon her family, and any associated with her. Ophelia is a girl caught within a society, backwards it may seem, but appropriate for the century in which Hamlet was written. Ophelia s lack of a mother was not mentioned but none the less obvious. She might have died from disease or complications in birth. Though she did not have a mother during her teenage years, Gertrude occasionally posed as a surrogate mother figure to Ophelia. This was assured due to her
  • 52. Who Is King Daniel [2]In the beautiful city of Babylon, there once lived a man named Daniel. [1]He was an advisor to the king. Daniel was different from the other advisors. He believed in the one true God. One day, two of the king s other advisors watched as Daniel diligently prayed to God. [6]They hated Daniel. He was always praying to God for guidance and he was always honest. He wanted to do the right thing. The advisors despised him because of that. Then one day, as they watched Daniel pray, they came up with an evil idea. They would write up a document that would say that no one would be allowed to pray. [5]If they disobeyed this law they would be thrown into the Lion s Den like a piece of meat. [3]Suddenly, one day after the king had signed the document, they caught him defying the law and praying any way. They rushed into his room and dragged him to the king s throne room. [4]Forcing King Darius to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [6]Daniel could barely see anything. He soon heard the sounds of hungry lions around him. He then began praying to God to keep him safe if it was His will. God heard Daniel s prayers and sent an angel to close the snarling mouths of the lions. [2]Throughout the night, none of the lions ever bothered him. Some of them even wanted to cuddle. [3]Unceasingly, Daniel prayed all night. [5] As he sat in the darkness untouched, he knew the advisors would come back in the morning to see if he had been killed, which was what they wanted to happen. The next morning Daniel saw streams of light peering thru the top of the entrance. [4]Hearing a noise above him, Daniel looked up. The king, who had worried about him all night, was prying the top off the cavern. Daniel, he shouted, are you alive? Did the God you believe and trust in protect you? Daniel answered him and told him that God had taken care of him and that he had sent an angel to close the mouths of the lions. The king then sent for help so that they could pull Daniel out of the deep
  • 53. Global Warming And Its Effects Global Warming The earth is getting warmer, animals and their habitats are declining, human health is at risk and the cause of all this terror is Global Warming. Global warming will cause many parts of the world to change. In the next 50 years climate change could be the cause of more than a million terrestrial species becoming extinct. Sea levels will raise which means more flooding and is not good for the plants. With too much water the plants will die and herbivores will lose their food source as well as their habitats. As a result the food chain will be broken and survival for any creature is slim to none. In conclusion, Global Warming is an important issue, but before we can devise any solutions we must first understand the causes. This paper will focus on the causes of global warming and argue that excessive carbon dioxide emissions is the predominate cause. This paper will start of briefly discussing the history of Global Warming (GW) by explaining how greenhouse gases contribute to GW through the greenhouse effect and how production of these gases has increased along with rise in global temperatures. Next, it will explain the causes of global warming including carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrus oxide (fertilizer) emissions. The strengths and the weaknesses of each cause will be looked at; prompting the conclusion that inflated carbon dioxide emissions are the essential driver. The final segment of the paper will conclude and explain policy
  • 54. Japanese Comfort Women Japanese Comfort Women It is estimated that between one and two hundred thousand female sex slaves were forced to deliver sexual services to Japanese soldiers, both before and during World War II. These women were known as comfort women and the Imperial Conference, which was composed of the emperor, representatives from the armed forces and the main Cabinet ministers, approved their use by Japanese soldiers. (Walkom) The term comfort women refers to the victims of a premeditated systematic plan originated and implemented by the government of Japan to enslave women considered inferior and subject them to repeated mass rapes, said Michael D. Hausefeld, one of over 35 lawyers in his firm representing the former sexual prisoners in a class ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Japan, infected women were killed. Their food was mixed with cyanide, their bodies taken to a cave and finally, the cave was blown up with a grenade. The comfort houses made money off these women and it is believed that the Japanese government paid them, as most of the soldiers paid by coupons. As soon as the war was finished, the Japanese Imperialist guards disappeared without trace. Most comfort women describe the experience this way, Suddenly, the soldiers came no more, and upon asking we found that the war had ended. In other regions, as the Japanese committed harikari , the women were forced to do the same. In extreme cases, the women were put in a cave and blown up. After the war, many of the comfort women were too sick to be moved and were taken under the care of the American army. Most of the women were left with no place to go, as they were in a strange country with no money, and were too humiliated to go home. According to one comfort woman, my body s wasted, therefore I do not dare go home in fear of being ignored and looked down upon. Even after the war ended, the comfort women were not free. Their guilty minds and inferiority complexes kept them from returning home and they stayed in foreign countries. The small amount that married, were often forced to separate after the fact that they were comfort women was known, or they were divorced because they could not have children. The victims are still
