Captain Phillip s First Fleet Of Convicts
Australia Captain James Cook first discovered Australia in 1770, but Australia was founded by
Captain Arthur Phillip on January 26, 1788. Captain Phillip brought in convicts to the colony of the
New South Wales, establishing Australia. An agricultural work farm was established by Captain
Phillip for the British convicts. Later on, January 26 1818 became the official anniversary of British
settlement in Australia. And the year 1986 was when Australia became Independent from Great
Britain. The first fleet of convicts arrived on January of 1788 in Botany Bay. These convicts where
from different parts of Scotland, Wales, England and Ireland, the majority of these passengers being
English. This fleet was commanded by Captain Arthur Phillip. With

The Factors Of Adolescent Behavior
The Factors of Adolescent Behavior as Defined by Aloe Blacc s Song, Love is the Answer
Love is the answer/ It s the only thing that everybody needs A. Blacc
The presence of love plays a distinct role on society. The amount of compassion and support given
greatly affects an individual s outcome in life. The story told in Aloe Blacc s music video Love Is
The Answer centers on two teenage brothers who become separated after their parents divorce.
With each son residing with one parent, the video shows a contrast of the lives of the boys. The
message of the video suggests that family life, social environments, and love are factors of
adolescent behavior. The music video uses imagery, videography techniques, and lyrics to convey its

The video also captures scenes of the father s son attending a good school. The neatly maintained
lockers and hallways, student computers, football field, and suburbia looking teenagers conveys
the thought that he has a quality education that perhaps teaches moral ethics to their students.
This son is also seen dedicating himself to football. The scenes highlight his passion and hard
work as he is seen practicing on the football field. The second son s quality of life is not the same
as his brother s. His mother is rarely seen in the music video. She only makes one appearance
with her son. Her short appearance shows her yelling at him as he lies on the couch, holding a
football. This son attends a school with damaged lockers and enters a classroom that appears to be
a rundown portable building. Most of the students have rebellious looks on their faces and show no
interest in their education. He spends his free time gambling and drinking with rebellious people.
The contrast in the lifestyles of the two brothers suggests that the factors of behavior vary in each
situation. Although social behavior is learned by youth through a variety of sources, including
peers, school, the family and the neighborhood, it is the family that is the single most important
influence on youth socialization (Donegan 1996). Both sons are highly influenced by the parent
they live with. Judging by the stern facial expressions seen on the mother s son throughout

The Flaws of the Socratic Method
The Flaws of the Socratic Method
In Plato s Republic, as well as in most of his other works, the philosopher writes dialogues between
the character of his mentor, Socrates, and various figures meant to illustrate contradictory positions.
He carefully scripts the engagements in a form of discussion now called the Socratic Method, where
Socrates critiques the positions of the other characters in order to find flaws in inaccurate
arguments. Although this method is prevalent even today, I will make the case that even when
Plato himself is using it, the Socratic Method, while not without benefits, is an extremely flawed
way of conducting educational discourse.
The Socratic Method is a dialectic method of argument, meaning that the ... Show more content on

The very nature of the Socratic Method makes for long and winding discussions, because the
Method aims to strip away any falsehoods but provides few tools for building towards the truths
for which it aims. Without a way to cull the ideas presented by the students, a professor must
engage each of them as comprehensively as the next regardless of their accuracy, or else
compromise the integrity of the dialogue. If he or she instead opts to inseminate information in a
more traditional education style, each lecture and discussion can be tailored to divulge a specific
concept and a specific and relevant set of arguments and objections can be presented and rejected,
rather than struggling through a freeform conversation with inconsistent results varying from
classroom to classroom (Ford 3) (Chen and Taylor).
Additionally, the constant refutation of students necessitated by a teacher engaging them in a
Socratic Dialectic has a questionable impact on the academic outlook of students. Christopher Ford
describes the modern usage of the Socratic Method as psychologically abusive, saying that the
public questioning is terrifying and that the style is both invasive in that student s knowledge
/intelligence is publically examined, and evasive in that the professor hides the ball from the
students. This practice of systematically and ruthlessly deconstructing any and all flaws in a student
s argument can be extremely humiliating and can trigger

Equality In The Wild
Freedom, to be one s self, many people seek this, but not many succeed. Many people get stuck
conforming to society, and other outside forces, they are never really themselves so they only
care about society, as a result they never unlock their true potential. We strive to be like all our
brother men, for all men must be alike. (Rand 19) That quote illustrates that perfectly how society
is and one of the reasons Equality went and did his experiments, to be himself. In addition he was
unlocking his true potential. Not only that but also when he was doing it he was by himself, with
no restrictions, a free manto do what he wanted.
When he was in school he was very smart, So we fought this curse. We tried to forget our lessons,
but we always remembered. He was very good at science and wanted ... Show more content on

Limiting one s self to menial tasks and labors hinders that, in the same way being a street
sweeper hindered Equality s ability to do that. It is a great sin, to be born with a head that is too
quick. (Rand 21) In the society where Equality lived the council of vocations did not give jobs
based on skill or merit, they gave them to random people trying to limit them as best as they can.
To limit people to only half their potential destroys them as people, and in addition their drive to
succeed, thus keeping individualism out of sight and mind. With limiting people s potential they
also prevent people from doing what they want.
A life spent doing things one doesn t find joy in is a life wasted. Equality tried to convince
himself that he liked street sweeping, so that he could repent of his transgressions of preference,
but he never succeeded he always knew he was not meant to do that, we loved the science of
things. He even said that he loved science, he didn t love street sweeping he hated it, at no time
did he ever like sweeping, and if he kept doing it it would have broken his

Comparison Of Virginia Woolf And A Room Of One s Own
Virginia Woolf was known as one of the great modern novelist. Woolf s work A Room of One s
Own is one of her greatest works, and in that work, she talks of how women should be given the
same rights as men in the literary world. Woolf speeches includes experiences she has had as
men thinking of women being inferior animals to them. She even talked about the story of
William Shakespeare s imaginary sister, Judith Shakespeare, and her story of trying to become a
writer just like her brother. Throughout the rest of Woolf s speech, she answers questions that
she is presented, and also flashback to her speech at Cambridge over the topic Women and
Fiction. A Room of One s Own and Woolf s speech on the topic Women and Fiction are very
similar through Woolf s believes and her approach to these two topics. Woolf s lecture on the
topic Women and Fiction and her work A Room of One s Own have a distinct connection, because
they both talk of women s hardships of becoming a writer, talk of what it takes for a womanto
become a writer, and the way women are viewed in the man s eye. Throughout both of Woolf s
work she talks of the hardships that women have at becoming a literary artist. According to
Woolf, most women don t have the ability to become writers, because they are made to take care
of their families and that s it. For example, when Woolf s mother died in 1895 she was forced to
take over supervision of her home, and it was not till her father s death in 1905 (Woolf Society
of Great Britain). In chapter one, Woolf goes on to compare the difference in education that s
given to women and men and their drastic differences. Woolf says; The men s abodes have
private rooms; the women share tight quarters. Men s colleges boast well stocked libraries; women
s colleges provide sparse classrooms. Malestudents feast; femalestudents sup. Woolf observes,
One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well. (Salem Press). Woolf
believes that women have a very unfair advantage when it comes to women and their education,
and believes that women will not be able to become successful writers. Given women s role in
society during Woolf s lifetime it would have been really hard for her to become a writer

Furthermore, bondholder can sell it before its maturity dates when investor needs money or it can
be sold more than what it is purchased. As you can see, bond investment increases your capital and
income with offering less risk (Esme).
How and where bonds are issued and traded
The process of issuing bond is very complex, because typically bonds do not directly involve
issuers and public and involve large amount because of the sum. The process involves three
main groups: issuers, underwriters, and purchasers (Chad). As I mentioned earlier, issuers are
the corporations or government who sell the bonds and borrow money from investors.
Underwriters are the, who act as an intermediary between issuers and investors, investment banks
or other financial institutions that helps issuers to sell their bonds. The good examples are
going to be major broker dealer firms like Goldman, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, etc.
Purchasers are the bondholders, who bought a bond and lend the money and purchase the bond.
Not like a stocks, bond investors do not have an access to bond price right away. There is no
such a thing that bond market is located in a building and shows all the prices and changes show
on the display. Basically, bond market is combination of several numbers of extremely large bond
dealers. The reason is there is no quoted price for the bond for trade and it happened over the
counter not in exchanges.

Gulf Of Tonkin Resolution Essay
On August 7, 1964, Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which authorized Johnson to
take necessary measures to retaliate and promote the peace and security in Southeast Asia.
Congress was definitely wrong in doing so. The results of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution were too
chaotic and too violent to overlook. By 1964, the US desperate to contain communism had already
sent troops to support South Vietnamese leader, Ngo Dinh Diem. Ngo Dinh Diem couldn t end
communist infiltrations of the South; such infiltrations were otherwise known as the Viet Cong
(South Vietnamese communist guerillas), who made their debut to the South in 1959. Diem did
not receive loyalty and his rule was so deteriorated that he was overthrown and assassinated by
several of his generals with the tacit approval of the Kennedy Administrations В№ in 1963;... Show

three warning shots prior to this and then overkilled the torpedo targets. In other words, the
Maddox expended over 280 3 and 5 inch shells in the sea battle, Ві which resulted in one slightly
damaged US aircraft and boat, three damaged North Vietnamese torpedo boats, and 10 North
Vietnamese casualties. Following this minor attack was a second aggression on the 4th of August
in which false radar images were found; thus, no real North Vietnamese torpedo boats were around
the radar signals. Despite the second attack literally being nothing, Johnson asked congress for

Presentation- Carbon Fibre in Tennis Rackets Script
Intro
Hi, I m going to be talking about Carbon fibre in tennis rackets
What I will cover in the next ten minutes is this.
I will talk you through what Carbon fibre is, its atomic structure, properties which then makes it the
ideal material for modern tennis rackets.
What is Carbon fibre?
Carbon fibre consist of tiny filament about 5 8 mu metres in diameter. Carbon fibre mostly contains
carbon bonds which are bonded together in a crystal Alignment. This means there are strong
covalent bonds between the molecules. Being in its crystal alignment, this gives carbon fibre a high
to strength to volume ratio which basically means it strong for its size.
For example if you could make a tow from several thousand of carbon fibres bundled ... Show more

The stiffness is high due to the carbon fibre reinforment. But it is fairly light, and fit for someone
like me.
As it is for advanced player with a large swing it needs to be pretty aerodynamic. The tension can
go up to 62 lb which definitely gives it more control and feel. With the weight the power is medium.

Stephen Grover Cleveland Essay
Stephen Grover Cleveland was the 22nd and 24th President of the United States. He was the
winner, by popular demand, for president three times in 1884, 1888, and 1892. He and Woodrow
Wilson were the only two Democrats at the time. He was elected to be president in the era of the
Republican political domination that lasted from 1861 to 1933. He is the only President in
American history to serve two terms in two different years in office. Cleveland was the leader of
the Bourbon Democrats who didn t like overpriced tariffs, imperialism, and subsidies to business or
veterans. He had the U.S. Government running a budget surplus. Cleveland believed that the
government s practice of taking more than it needed was indefensible extortion. His crusade... Show

He often and relentlessly fought political corruption, patronage and bossism. He helped fight the
Spanish American war in Cuba. Indeed, as a reformer his prestige was so strong that the like
minded wing of the Republican Party, called the Mugwumps largely supported the GOP
presidential ticket and quickly chose to support him in the 1884 election. As his second term
began, disaster hit the nation when the Panic of 1893 ended up being a severe national depression,
which was hard for Cleveland to deal with. It ruined his Democratic Party, giving the Republicans a
chance for a Republican landslide in 1894 and for the agrarian and silverite seizure of the
Democratic Party in 1896. The result was a political realignment that demolished the Third
Party and launched the Fourth Party as well as the Progressive Era. Grover Cleveland was born
March 18, 1837. His parents were Richard Falley Cleveland and Anne Neal Cleveland. His father
was a minister and his mother was the daughter of a bookseller. On his father s side he was passed

How to Cope with the Promises and Perils of Technology
We are all technologists. We all believe in progress. But not all in the same way.
The politics of engineering is as complicated as engineering itself, and as contested as man and
nature that usually enrich political debates. The mission of an engineer is essentially savoring it,
defending it, and improving it, but also coping with it and transcending it. There is nothing
especially laudable in romanticizing lost worlds, or pretending that societies without skyscrapers or
modern communication are more authentic than our own, or believing that disarming ourselves
will make the perils of technological power disappear. May we not fantasize that the present world
is necessarily the finest human achievement yet, or that politically necessary and morally justified
uses of technological power are wholly innocent. For, they usually are not.
Our problem is that of ensuring whether the future we believe in is worthy of our devotion. In
other words, it is about how we cope with the promises and perils of technology. Answering this
question will require clear thinking about scientific prospects, distinguishing wild speculations from
scientific reality, and describing technological possibilities in a way that common man can judge
and understand. It will require political leadership with a deeper understanding of engineering, and
engineers who accept that technological expertise does not guarantee its balanced application to
humanity.
The problem of engineering how to spread its

Anxiety Anxiety is a reaction to potential dangers, while fear connects with direct menace. Anxiety

Overall, The Forest of Hands and Teeth was exciting and had some romance between all the

Inequalities In The South Analysis
As the colonies in the South flourished and the wealthy class became an apparent part in society,
the evidence of inequality grew. Inequality was present in religion, labor, and everyday society. This
inequality affected the South for and the rest of the North American continent, shaping society and
the way of life for many years to come. During the seventeenth century, religion played a vital role
in the lives of Americans. Even though this was true, the Southern people did not communicate
their beliefs and many did not become members of a church. After 1642, the governor of Virginia,
William Berkeley, forced his colony to become pure Anglican, pushing out the Puritans and
Quakers. By the end of the 1600s, Anglicans dominated the Chesapeake Bay area, and during the
eighteenth century, Anglicanism became the most apparent religion in the South. Anglicans were
not forced to publically announce their religion, and they focused on stressing Christianityas a
reasonable faith and the goodness of God. The unique climate of the South allowed for a
prosperous economy of crops. The warm weather and amount of rainfall made it possible to grow
bizarre crops, such as rice and tobacco. These crops were prized by the countries in Europe.... Show

Seamus Heaney Digging
amp;#8220;Digging ; is about a person looking out of a window at their Father digging, describing
what he/she sees and then the poem goes on to describe what he/she feels.
I believe that the narrative voice in the poem is in fact that of Seamus Heaney. There are a number
of clues that lead me to this conclusion. The first and most obvious one is in the first line,
amp;#8216;Between my finger and my thumb. amp;#8217;
The poet writes in the first person throughout the poem. He writes about his Father and his
Grandfather and he seems to move from describing his Father to describing his Grandfather. He
does this so smoothly that the reader harldy notices the transition that took place. The second clue
is slightly more hidden. The poet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That line also paints an image in the readers mind of the spade sinking in and the scratching/rasping
sound it makes. An example of how the author does the same thing only with the sense touch is,
amp;#8216;The coarse boot nestled on the lug, the shaft Against the inside knee was levered
firmly. amp;#8217; In this case the second line emphasizes the first. It does this by using the words
levered and firmly they make the whole phrase seem more realistic.
However the best possible example of this is when the poet uses two senses to emphasize sight
amp;#8216;The cold smell of potatoe mould, the squelch and slap Of soggy peat, the curt cuts of
an edge. amp;#8217;
These two lines not only include two senses but one of the senses uses two onomatopoeic words;
squelch and slap. These two words suggest someone moving through thick soggy mud for some
reason it also suggests to me that it was on a cold day.
In my opinion that line is also quite interesting to read because it paints a clear picture in my
mind amp;#8217;s eye of someone toiling and sloshing around in the mud. I think this is because
the poet uses words like; soggy, curt, cuts and edge. Since those words are sharp words they make
the phrase clearer and sharper in my mind amp;#8217;s eye.
I think the poet amp;#8217;s attitute to work is that of a perfectionist. I get this impression
because of how picky he is about describing the way his Father and

when they were in greatly debt. Even in the story, he goes through so much to

good doer. Robin Hood stole from the rich and gave to the poor. But, that doesn #39;t
make him a Christian at all, at the end of the day he was still stealing from others.
Plus, in my perspective, I think Robin Hood was very materialistic. Materialistic,
this means when someone is very possessive to and highly concerned with
material things usually things like, money. I think this because, whenever Robin
Hood and his merry men had a chance they would go on the roads and wait
somewhere, and when they saw someone rich come near they would basically
invite them to a feast and charge them a fortune. I know, technically that #39;s not
being materialistic but in a way that was a way to get money from people,

Testing Of Faith Research Paper
The devil is always roaming the world to tempt us and to sabotage our faith in God, but God uses
multiple test to develop our faith in Him. We as human being must be tested by faith in order for
God to trust us with His word. False faith fails in times of us been tested in our trial, but crazy
faith helps us to grow and mature in areas to edify Gods Kingdom. This clarifies why God
authorized the three black Hebrew men who names were, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego to be

This word does not mean a helper, worker, nor servant it is simple means someone who owns an
individual. When I look at the word slave it is describes as an insecure person that is in a dark
place and looking for a way out to be free. It is also a cruel, oppressive, and a person that is held
hostage from being happy. In I Corinthians 7:21 Were you a slave when you were called? Don t
let it trouble you although if you can gain your freedom, do so. (NIV) This scripture is letting the
reader know that every human being on this planet have an opportunity to be free. In order to be
free you must be accordance with the Word of God. No person should remain in such a condition
that causes them to die mental and physically. Jesus Christ has given man and woman a chance to
be free of this world and to be able to be free you must Seek God with all your heart, might and all
of your soul. In Proverbs 3:6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.
God will do just that and if the people will be a slave for Christ then all of their bitterness, hate,
discomfort, unforgiveness will no longer be a slave to the devil. God is the creator of the

Cultural Backgrounds And Community Attitudes Prevent Girls...
Thesis statement: The diverse cultural backgrounds and community attitudes prevent girls from
attending schools and thereby act as the barrier in maintaining gender equality in India. The sex
ratio, which is the number of girl students per 1000 male students, in the Indian high schools is 3:1
(boy: girl). The primary reason for the decline in the birth ratio of females in India is mainly
because of the intense treatments inflicted to the girls at the time of their birth. The lowest sexratio
in India is witnessed in Haryana, which reflects 877 females to that of 1000 males. However in
Kerala, the number of females is more than that of males, a ratio of 1000:1084. The major cause
for the decline in the Indian sex ratio is because of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Moreover, the girls after hitting the stage of puberty are believed to be baby makers, where the
only work they have is in the house, raising their child and do various household chores. The two
major factors by which puberty affects well being are self perception and peer association. It is
also seen that the girls suffer a lot because of lack of infrastructure like proper functioning of
toilets and disposals. However, the preference to a male child is mainly because they will act as a
source of support to their family in the near future. There is a patriarchal thinking that the
daughters will get married one day, after which they will be someone else s., after which there
will be no one to look after her family whereas boys, even after getting married, will continue to
be a support for his family in the future. Because of a girl s less earning potential and increased
expectation towards domesticity, the families consider the educational cost (monetary and
psychological) to be a waste, where the economic benefit is not apparent to most of the families.
Moreover the girls safety is also a major concern for the Indians families. It is also observed that
girl s education in rural households and in many lower middle classes can lead to excessive

Peter Pan Reflection
Altering Tink Sam Taylor (CEO), once said, If we aren t willing to change and keep up with
innovation someone else will. If someone isn t motivated to move forward and create new ideas,
there will be someone else that will succeed in their place. People need change sometime, or their
lives would be dull, static, and boring. Change is crucial to a person s life to show dynamic
differences in their characteristics. It is important for people to be flexible and open minded in
different experiences to handle future circumstances. Change is the key to determine one s future.
In J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan, the character Tinker Bellis dynamic as illustrated by her words, actions,
and motivations. To start, Tinker Bell is shown to be dynamic depicted through her unkind
words. An example of this from the book is when Tink treats Wendy offensively by calling her
ugly: He had to translate. She is not very polite. She says you are a great ugly girl, and that she is
my fairy(Barrie 27). Tinker Bell is shown to be uncivil and boorish towards Wendy by calling her
ugly. As a perfect antagonist, she creates tension and suspense in the story with her threats
towards Wendy. Without remorse, Tink doesn t even apologize to Wendy. With this type of
behavior, she shows her nasty side, her lack of concern for her feelings, and how she may have
hurt them. However, while Tinker Bell expressed in words, her more cruel side, being churlish
towards Wendy, that doesn t represent her whole self. Next, Tinker Bell illustrates her dynamic
self through her actions towards other characters, like Peter. For instance, when Tink plays the
role of protagonist towards Peter by saving his life: No time for words now; time for deeds;and
with one of her lightning movements Tink got between his lips and the draught, and drained it
to the dregs (121). Tink flew in front of Peter s lips before he could drink the poison knowing it
could kill either Peter or herself depending on who drank it. Tinker Bell shows a caring and
selfless side through an action that could kill her, but her love for Peter was so strong, she had no
choice. This makes her a protagonist. All in all, she was Peter s hero that night, and this explains
how Tink is not

The Synthesis Of Semiconductor Devices
The synthesis of semiconductor devices in microelectronics and photonics applications has always
fascinated me, and the field of developing electronic and photonic solid state devices is a field that I
find continuously interesting and rewarding. The physics behind these devices and their
manufacturing are consistently setting new limits or allowing for new methods that produce useful
applications. By embracing and driving research, industries which rely on evolving electronic
devices and methods enjoy a rapid pace of development. Because of this, we see photonic
solutions proposed as an alternative to the more physical electronic devices. Moreover, we see
approaches that integrate these worlds. My interest in these fields will require an extensive
academic and research foundation regarding devices that rely heavily on quantum,
electromagnetic and other phenomena. It will also require me to initially focus my efforts before
exploring a breadth of other fields and applications that will become an integral part of my
research repertoire. My academic interests and career objectives span both theoretical and practice
based branches of learning. I have seen how many factors in epitaxial growth of groups III and V
semiconductormaterials may render a great theoretical design difficult to realize. The challenges in
solving and computing for several equations and in reaching a trade off in designs also need to
prove viability. This is only obtainable through a deep understanding

Gregor Mendel And Darwin Similarities
There were two man especially in the past that changed the future. Gregor Mendel and Charles

Personhood In The False Princess
Who are you? More importantly, who would you like to be seen as to everyone else? Some may
say they want to be an astronaut, or a photographer, or a successful business person.
Unfortunately, wanting to be something and actually being something are two very different
things according to Western Michigan University professor Ilana Nash. She claims A woman s
personhood can exist fully only in a society that support it ... unless her society shares that view,
she will not enjoy real freedom (Nash 45). Personhood is an idea that is prevalent in every form
of storytelling and what better story to analyze with this idea that Eilis O Neal s The False
Princess ? This novel literally opens with the protagonist having her identity taken from her. Using
Nash s ideals about what it takes to possess personhood I will explain how Sinda, The False
Princess, takes the personhood that was stolen from her, obtains the respect from others, and
maintains her place in the new lifeshe is thrust into. Sinda, I whispered. I waited for the word to
have some meaning, to fill the empti[ness] ... But the name just faded away, filling nothing, lost
(O Neal 16). Once a mighty princess, now a lowly nobody; This excerpt is the first time the
protagonist, newly named Sinda, comes to terms with the fact that her identity has been
permanently stripped from her. This is not simply a loss of her personhood, but a loss of her
very being for 16 years. Sinda has been reshaped and cast out in a matter of minutes and she
doesn t complain once during the process. Perhaps it all happened so fast or perhaps there is a
sense of complete loss and lack of willpower in a circumstance like this, but what is clear is that
there would be no coming back from something like this for Sinda. At this point in the story it is
looking utterly hopeless in terms of Sinda s possession of an identity and more importantly a
personhood. However, as Sinda begins to come to terms with her new life she is awakened to the
power she posses literally and figuratively. Sinda overhears a disrespectful conversation concerning
her and she erupts with emotion causing a vine she was gripping onto to crumble into ash. This is
the first time Sinda begins to differentiate herself

Life Has Changed My Life
Every 30 years (with some exceptions) lives are dramatically changed as the result of a beautiful
phenomenon. On August 21, 2017, at 1:17 PM, I would be one of those lucky ones whose lives
are transformed. It would be a monumental experience that would shake my life and thousands of
others for as long as they lived. My sister, my Father and I would drive all the way from
Washington, DC to Charleston, South Carolina. Sitting on the tan, leather seats of our black
Toyota land cruiser, it was the kind of day when your legs would stick to the seats from the
summer heat, but it was also the day we would begin our trek. We would leave the comfort of
our home to view the Great American Eclipse from Charleston, South Carolina. A few hours
later, straining my neck to look all the way up a smiling Pedro s face on a statue, it was obvious
that we had reached South of the Border. The air was thick and hot, it made us Marylanders
lethargic. Only three more hours... My dad unenthusiastically yelled to us. South of the border
had marked about 75 percent of hour drive there. Guyssss get upppp, My dad groggily tried to

arrival in South Carolina had left us all drained, especially the driver my Dad, who was trying to

Islamic Women s Roles
Women in the harem were considerably different than the low and middle class women (common

mistresses, servants. The role of the mistresses was to entertain the Sultan in the bedchamber, and if

Pope Leon XIII And The Rerum Novarum Encyclical
Having new opportunities in life is exciting, but when those opportunities become the obstacle to
pursue happiness, life may lose its meaning. Something similar happened during the industrial
revolution, which society changes. However, the church was present to advocate for those whose
happiness was taken away. Pope Leon XIII marked the history of society by writing the Rerum
NovarumEncyclicalduring the industrial revolution. Even though the industrial revolution
transformed the history of the world with the creation of new job s factories, it changed the society
by originating two classes, the wealthy and the poor. Pope Leon XIII, saw that advantages and
disadvantages of the industrial revolution and decided to convey the injustices happened at that
time. Pope Leo XIIIused that scripture and reason of natural law to argue about the common goods
and the rights of the workers.
Sharing benefits between members of the community is a principle that Pope Leo XIII transmitted
in his encyclical. The church has always been on behalf of the poor. For that reason
Pope Leo XIII used that Bible as a way to support his idea of the common good. He cited, There
was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned land or houses sold them and brought
the proceeds of what was sold (Acts 4:34). This passage supports his idea of the common good
through a spiritual interpretation with a moral lesson, which encourages the wealthy people to help
or share their goods to the needy, as

Mister Theodore Roosevelt participated in the Spanish American War, which took place in Cuba.
He managed the 1st regiment of the United States Volunteer Cavalry, popularly known as the Rough
Riders. Furthermore, He succeeded in leading his regiment through battle and in capturing vantage
points, effectively pronouncing him as a hero and a source of trust.
Later in the Oval Office, Mister Theodore Roosevelt found himself against a union of striking coal

A Research Study On Laboratory
LABORATORY SECTIONS
In contrast to the often passive lecture environment, laboratory classes provide an opportunity for
active hands on learning, where students can apply and engage with the material learned in
lecture. For many students, labs are where their enthusiasm and interest in the material is
stimulated. However, if the experiments appear unconnected to the theory learned in class, or
unrelated to everyday life or the student s major, they can be viewed as busy work: come to
class, follow a set procedure, collect data, fill in datasheet, discuss the results then repeat the next
week, rather than a learning opportunity. This is especially true of introductory labs were students
are learning basic procedures. Consequently, a well prepared TA who clearly explains the
relevance of the experiment can have a large impact is how the lab is perceived.
TAs are also responsible for ensuring safe working practices. A major component of this is being
prepared. Before the semester starts, read all relevant safety manuals. In addition, spend some time
in the laboratory to learn the location and proper operation of all safety equipment, e.g. fire
extinguishers, safety shower, eye wash, first aid kit. If working in a chemical laboratory, learn
what chemicals are stored, where they are stored and safe handling procedures. In addition, learn
the proper operation of all laboratory equipment. The course instructor or laboratory technician
should arrange a training session. Attend

The Video Is A Music Video
Me!Me!Me! is a music video and animated short that was created for the Japan Animator Expo in
2014, but was released in the US in 2015 through Vimeo with English subtitles. The song in the
video was made by the electronic music artist Teddyloid feat. Daoko, a Japanese singer. The
audience of this video would be all fans of animeand electronic music, i.e. presumably young
people who proactively use electronic devices. The video is set in three main sequences, each
revolving around the main character, a young teenage boy. It follows his dreamy haze of his break
up, and his interactions with idealized, semi human females. My interpretation of this video was
that this young man lost all meaningful relationships in his life because of his unrealistic
expectations of women due to pornography and the representation of women in popular culture, and
how his addiction to these forms of media only made it worse. The purpose of this video is to
highlight the issues with unnecessary sexualization of women, escapism and addiction, as well as
heartbreak and regret. This author s intent was to prove director Hibiki Yoshizaki was an amazing
storyteller and animator, and for the video to gain attention and views, through the use of hyper
sexualized imagery. This is shown in the video by the depiction of women inside his mind as two
conflicting personalities, his loving girlfriend, and nightmarish girls who, as the video description
states, attack and ravish him, and the environment they

Analysis Of Ziggurat By Stephen O Connor
1st Paragraph: Symbolism in Ziggurat
In Stephen O Connor s Ziggurat, the author utilizes symbolism to portray a raw tale of life and
death s conflicting relationship. O Connor s usage of a mythological character, the Minotaur, and a
human, the new girl, creates a juxtaposing link that reveals the inevitability of death. Ziggurat
follows the Minotaur s life throughout the labyrinth where he meets the new girl. Through his harsh
characterization and foreseeable destruction of those around him, the Minotaur can be seen as a
personification of death. The Minotaur believes in the idea that we were created to be destroyed (O
Connor), a hint at the inescapability of the death that the Minotaur symbolizes. Subsequently, the

This story, with its lack of rhyme structure and rhythm, is similar to a prose poem. The sharp and
repetitive sentence structure makes the list of instructions seem as if they are being given in one
endless dialogue. The seemingly infinite commands create a suffocating sense of obligation for the
daughter. By including questions in the mother s list of commands, the author makes it seem like
the mother is speaking in a stream of consciousness and is rattling off orders and advice to her
daughter. Soak salt fish overnight before you cook it; is it true that you sing benna in Sunday

Simultaneously, it smothers the exchange between the daughter and mother, restricting the idea of

simultaneously assume the daughter is already on track to becoming a slut. Subsequently, the

Geo Location And Social Media Services
Geo location and social media services are becoming the way of the future online. These services
are redefining the way we find and connect to interests and hobbies. Through the expansion of Geo
location and tagging mobile social media services, user s privacy online will continue to be
exposed without their knowledge and risk being victims to potential criminals.
With the progression and development in GPS and Wi Fi, geo location has become a dominant tool
that can collect information over huge distances. It is purpose is to identify the physical
location and time of a user when they post something on the internet. This helps advertisers and
third party companies to help predict or assume the interest and likes of the user. The more the
user uses the service, the more the service uses the user. Geo location included in devices such as
cell phones, computers, laptops, tablets but many people seem to be unaware. Going online with
these devices can show where someone is, what they are doing and what time they are doing it.
Telecommunication companies and internet providers record the sites and places we visit online
to help profile and analyse the user more efficiently. Cell phones have become so common for
social media use that users are willing to risk their privacy to have access to their social media
sites or in most cases the user is oblivious that their information is being taken from them. This

The Ancient Egyptian Revolution And The Religious Services
For nothing irrational or fabulous or prompted by superstition, as some believe, was embodied in
the religious services, but ideas which either had moral and necessary causes or were not devoid
of historical or physical plausibility (De Iside et Osiride. Plutarch. 8.353e). The Ancient Egyptians
craving for Ma at over Isfet is most prevalent in this perception, with that being said the irrational as
well as the fabulous have no reason to exist in the Egyptians, or any, ordered world, thus allowing
the creation of the essentiality of sensible reasons for events of calamity, such as those of plague
and disease; the calendars of lucky and unlucky days being a primary example of the contradictory
effort. It could be thought that the calendars of lucky and unlucky days are just indicators of pure
superstition, but the Ancient Egyptians did not see it that way, therefore this thought cannot work
in this example. Henceforth, it may be that the Egyptians saw the epagomenal days as outstandingly
wicked since their prominence was that of being called the five days in addition to the year ,
disrupting the order the calendar had of being twelve thirty day months. For the duration of the
epagomenal days, the Ancient Egyptians assumed that time, neheh, remained stagnant and fearing
that djet, best described by J. Assmann as being the unchanging continuation of that which is
completed , might persist evermore, thus forever upsetting Ma at, unless particular rituals were
performed.

The Tale of a ( Former ) Dim Star By Alyssa L. Harrison, 10 years old, fifth grade Meet Blackie.
She s the main character of the story. She s an eighth grader and an amazing artisan. She was
born on October 23, 2003 and she is an only child. Her parents tragically died when she was only
ten. She is an Anisa, who lives in Sogenia. Now that you know most of the stuff, let s jump into
the story, shall we? I couldn t sleep. I looked at my somewhat dim, water powered alarm clock,
wondering what time it was. 7:43. Way early. Despite being awfully comfortable, I got up,
figuring I was just hungry. As I walked the the kitchen, I pondered about my snack. Carrots and
orange juice usually is the best choice. ( This is actually a good midnight snack! You should try
it! ) I made it to the fridge. As I opened it, I took in the cold air against my warm, cozy fur. Then I
realized, that I was sweating. I dropped the blanket I had wrapped around me. Much better. I
grabbed my carrots and orange juice, dragged the blanket behind me and took my time getting back
to my room. I hopped onto the bed with my snack in hand, and turned on the TV with the remote.
The button let out a quiet click! as I pushed the smooth, plastic button, before the TV turned on. She
put the remote back onto the nightstand, where it was before and grabbed her Neeno в„ў ( A
gaming system in this world ) controller. She pressed the on button, which turned on the Neeno в„ў
console. As Blackie reached to grab her mic,

The USA Patriot Act (FISA)
In the entire span of the United States history, the commitment of the protection of Americans
civil liberties have frequently been tested and strained. The biggest breach of national security
was on September 11, 2001 which ended in the compromise of the trust of American people
because they had felt lied to and vulnerable all because of a broken pact and a failure to protect
America with an agency founded to prevent such a catastrophe. After these acts of terror Congress
felt they needed to do better and step up their game, they decided it was time to act so just one vote
short of unanimous bipartisan support, they passed the USA Patriot Act. The measure gave law
enforcement officials sweeping new powers to conduct searches without warrants,... Show more

Although the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) already permitted the
administration to wiretap on an emergency basis and apply for warrants retroactively, the
administration maintained that FISA was too cumbersome when urgent issues of national security
were at stake. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales offered two justifications for the legality of the
domestic spying program, asserting that the president had the inherent authority under the
Constitution, as commander in chief, to engage in this kind of activity and that Congress, when it
authorize[d] the president to use all necessary and appropriate force against al Qaeda in 2001,
indirectly sanctioned it. Critics objected that the wiretapping infringed on civil liberties,
sidestepped the legislative branch, and placed the president above the law. In August 2006, a
federal judge in Detroit ruled the wiretapping program unconstitutional. However, in July 2008,
Congress passed a bill overhauling the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act effectively legalizing
Bush s secret program. The new law gave legal immunity to the telephone companies that
participated in the NSA secret wiretapping program after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and
broadened the government s ability to eavesdrop on those in the U.S. and abroad it suspects are

Clausewitz On Nature And Character Of War
Clausewitz on Nature and Character of War
There are no universal theories to explain the true nature and character of war, and any war theories
are not a fact or absolute truth. All strategic principles are dynamic and contextual, so every age had
its own kind of war, its own limiting conditions, and its own peculiar preconceptions. The battlefield
environment of the 21st century will be the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous, and nature
of war will be completely different because of the Revolution in Military Affairs. Highly advance

A theory is relevant to educate the mind of future commander and guide them to self education.
To developed the war theory, Clausewitz used the Dialectic approach, which is a method of
philosophical argument that involves contradictory process between opposing ideas to establish the
truth, propounded by the German philosopher G W F Hegel. His thesis on war is an absolute war.
According to him total or absolute war carry out with the utmost violence for unlimited aims, and
there is no logic limit to the application of available all power. On total war both warring fraction
could not suspend their military operation and hostilities until one or other side finally defeated, or
fully discharge His antithesis is historical evidence and his own experience of war. By interaction
between these thesis and antithesis, Clausewitz develops Synthesis (theory of war).
Nature and Character of War
Nature of war which usually remains unchanged irrespective of changes in environment or war.
Four elements of nature of war are; greater political nature , human dimension , uncertainty , and
final one is contest of wills. The trinity of war, Clausewitz s famous theory, comprises three basic
elements of warfare are people; the second commander and his army; and the third the government,
essential basis for successful military operations. He describes these three tendencies are must be

Persuasive Speech On Gay Jail
Four years ago tumblr user bolto took a red box of sorts with a hole seemingly chewed through
the top right corner and placed pink, plastic bars, dubbing it gay baby jail. It was intended to
hold their pet bird who stated i m a bad baby. And while the intention was a minute joke for some
laughs, some reblogs, little did they know it kickstarted a phenomenon. The term gay baby jail is
the perfect combination of words to convey that one is worthy of punishment for their immature
actions while communicating that it is all in good jest. It is truly an iconic statement that has
withstood the sands of time and will likely to do so for quite a sum of time. On November 9th,

The Scottsboro Trials, Brown v. Mississippi, and trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a
Mockingbird
The purpose of this essay is to compare three very similar cases, the Scottsboro Trials, Brown v.
Mississippi, and the fictional trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird; and to
prove why the defendant of the third trial never had a chance. Each took place in the rural South in
the 1920 s and 30 s and involved the unfair conviction of young black males by all white juries
pressured by the threat of mob violence. Each lacked the evidence sufficient for conviction, most
especially for the death penalty. Last, heroes emerged from each trial and made small but solid
steps towards equal justice for all. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Price had conveniently washed her step ins and though six men allegedly raped her, not a one got
any semen on her coat. The Supreme Court granted the Scottsboro boys new trials on the grounds
that they did not receive adequate legal counsel. In this second round of trials, presided by Judge
James E. Horton, Ruby Bates denied that she or Victoria Price had ever been raped (To Kill a
Mockingbird: Then and Now).
The hero in this case was Judge Horton. Despite public opinion in the region, Horton overturned the
conviction of the jury, an unprecedented act. He wrote a thoughtful essay of the improbability of
the crime and examined what evidence should have resulted from it. Very little of this expected
evidence actually appeared and thus Judge Horton declared:
It is therefore ordered and adjudged by the Court that the motion be granted; that the verdict of the
jury in this case and the judgment of the Court sentencing this defendant to death be, and the same
hereby is, set aside and that a new trial be and the same is hereby ordered. (To Kill a Mockingbird:
Then and Now).
Judge Horton had run unopposed in the previous two elections, but shortly thereafter, Judge Horton
lost the next election.

Raymond Stuart was found in his cotton shed, brutally murdered in Kemper County, Mississippi.

The First Clinical Experience Of A Nurse Essay
The First Clinical Experience
On an early morning in April, my friends and I arrived 45 minutes early to our long term care
facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. The three of us anxiously awaited stepping foot into the care
facility as we had no idea what was to come. I began to wonder what the patients would be like
and how I would care for them. Consequently, I could feel my heart pounding as I was afraid of
hurting the residents and not promoting healing from their ailments. I didn t know what illnesses
or diseases would place individuals in the healthcare unit in the facility. That terrified me. I
wanted to know everything I could about the residents prior to stepping foot in the building, but
that knowledge wasn t attainable. While trying to process my fears, I was thinking of the quote
from Maya Angelou that says, As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul
and body of our patients, their families and ourselves. They may forget your name, but they will
never forget how you made them feel. This lack of knowledge scared me; however, I knew that
regardless of what placed the residents on the unit, I would care for them with respect and
compassion.
Eventually the time rolled around to walk in the front door, and I was shaking with nerves. My
learning community of ten students and our instructor walked into the building, through many
hallways, and onto the unit our first nursing unit. We quietly walked through the center room,
which intersected the four

Overview of Four Seasons Strategy
Q.1. Introduction
Four Seasons is a company that well understood how to be strategic and integrate such in products,
services and processes. A Toronto based hotel chain, Four Seasons places huge importance in
enhancing its value through a four pillar strategy and it is this strategy that has been key to the
organisations success in establishing its name firmly in the hospitality industry worldwide. The
Four Seasons is built upon the pillars of Luxury Hotels, HR
Practices, Uncompromised Customer Service and Business Model.
The Four Pillar Strategy The Four Seasons have seen their strategy develop over a forty year

The Four Seasons also provides full benefits and other perks, in order to further generate employee
satisfaction, productivity and to realize the guests experience. Business Level Strategy The Four
Seasons has developed their business strategy based off the concept of differentiation. They provide
their guests with a unique level of service. Their customer focus is primarily business customers,
corporate groups and leisure customers. Although the hotels generally attract certain clientele the
Four Seasons policy does not allow for discrimination and believes all guests deserve the same
exceptional experience. The company has created a strategy that focuses on four important
components. The Four Seasons concentrates on small to medium sized luxury hotels . This allows
hotel management to effectively operate each hotel and provide the guests with more intimacy. The
hotel company also concentrates on hotel management services instead of hotel ownership.
Management service is one of the Four Seasons main distinctive competencies. The company has
established partnerships with investors who provide the backing for hotel development. The
investors receive ownership in the hotels while the Four Seasons takes sole responsibility for
managing the hotels and resorts. Another component of Four Seasons strategy is their golden rule
philosophy. The company

The Sniper And The Man He Killed
Wars never hurt anybody except for the people who died Salvador Dali, leader of the Surrealist
Movement. In both stories men who are at war are described, both of these men have killed a
man who are known as their foes. Both of the men realize that the man they killed could ve been a
friend, and were someone who really wasn t the enemy. The relationship between these two stories
is that war can tear families apart. In Liam O Flahertys The Sniper and The Man He Killed by
Thomas Hardy both show similarities and differences in plot, irony, and theme. There are
similarities of plot between both stories, for example, both of the men are soldiers at war. As an
example On a rooftop near O Connell Bridge, a republican sniper lay watching ... Show more

The similar theme is that war changes people and tears them apart due to the pain and suffering
of the war. Cursing the war, cursing himself, cursing everybody (O Flaherty 208). The quote
helps show that the war may cause you to curse things you never would ve before, like, yourself.
And from the poem He thought he d list perhaps/ Off hand like just as I/ Was out of work, had
sold his traps/ No other reason why (Hardy 16 20). This tells how war can force people to make
erratic decisions, it changes your attitude and morals about any situation including joining the army
and going to war. The differencebetween the two stories is that in The Sniper it turns him against
his family and in The Man He Killed it turned the soldier against his friends. To prove this, Then
the sniper turned over the dead body and looked into his brother s face (O Flaherty, page 208).
Again this tells of the shock the sniper received when he saw it was his brother he had killed.
But in the opposing story Yes, quaint and curious war is!/ You shoot a fellow down/ You d treat
if met where any bar is/ Or help to half a crown (Hardy 17 20). It explains of how he killed a man
that the soldier would have befriended in any other situation. All in all, you can see both the
similarities and differences in both stories

Danilo Blandon s Use Of Crack Cocaine In The United States
In 1996, Gary Webb claimed that black men were incarcerated for charges dealing with selling
cocaine because of the CIA. Thousands of young black men are serving long prison sentences for
selling cocaine a drug that was virtually unobtainable in black neighborhoods before members of
the CIA s army started bringing it into South Central in the 1980s at bargain basement prices. This
claim outraged members of the black community because it reaffirmed suspicions of the
government intentionally tainting their community with crack. ... about 2,000 people converged on

the idea, several weeks before Ross s trial, that the CIA was involved with Blandon s drug
sales...Webb also suggested questions to Fenster in the courtroom, according to Webb and Fenster.
Questions Fenster asked fueled the material Webb used in his articles to support his claims. If he
did give Fenster this idea, and Fenster didn t come to the conclusion himself it makes the material
used in the article illegitimate.
The Washington Post continues on to say, ... No evidence of specific transactions or of explicit
financial links has emerged to back up Blandon s and Menses s claims of sending money to the
rebels.
If there isn t evidence of financial links to back up Blandon s and Menses s claims, then Blandon
might have not told the truth to the grand jury in 1994. It is another possibility that Blandon and
Menses kept the profits made from cocaine trafficking and spent it on themselves.
Roberto Suro and Walter Pincus, journalists for The Washington Post, have years of experience.
Suro has written books on immigration, and is a professor at University of Southern California.

Science fiction is a genre of film that had the most out there storylines and slowly became a
strong building block to the most iconic movies and characters that has appeared in a film. A lot
has changed since Georges Melies story of lunar travel where a man meets a race of selenites
and escape back to earth inside a rocket in the film Le Voyage Dans La Lune to the story of a
man saving the human race from a famine by travelling through a wormhole to another planet that
can support the human race in the story Interstellar written by Christopher Nolan. Science Fiction
has become one of the top grossing film genres accumulating nearly 9 trillion dollars
($8,932,256,387) worldwide. In the future moviegoers will witness filmmakers push the
boundaries for what the general public will recognize as Science Fiction . One of the interesting
discoveries we made was that the mid future (50 150 years in the future) is one of the most
popular time periods when being used in the genre. With advances in technology it is very hard not

Introduction In this paper I will be describing phobias and fear, but more specifically
coulrophobia (the fear of clowns) and Monophobia (the fear of being alone). I also will describe
possible causes of phobias, the history of phobias, how fear is helpful in small amounts, what fear
does to someone and how to defeat it. Fearis present in all people but some more than others and I
would like to know why. The definition of a phobiais an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to
something . Phobiasare never simple and often do not have a simple answers or cures, but there

you muscles also tighten up to allow you to run or fight with all your energy without getting a
cramp or pulling a muscle. Being afraid is a natural way that our bodies prepare ourselves to make
quick decisions and react upon these decisions without taking an excessive amount of time. There
are other changes that also occurs when someone is experiencing fear, especially large amounts.
The brain is very complex and has more than one hundred billion nerve cells which are all an
intricate network in themselves. These cells create communications which is everything we sense,
think, or do. Some of these communications lead to conscious thought and action, but others
produce autonomic responses. when you are experiencing fear, your reactions are almost
completely automatic so you don t even know it is happening until it has. There are many parts of
the brain than can be linked to experiencing or reacting to fear but the main parts responsible are:
The Thalamus, the Sensory Cortex, the Hippocampus, the Amygdala and the Hypothalamus. The
Thalamus decides where new sensory data should be sent (eyes, ears, mouth or skin.) The Sensory
Cortex Interprets sensory data and the Hippocampus stores and retrieves memories regarding the
topic or situation to form a context. The Amygdala is much like the Hippocampus in the way that it
stores traumatic memories, but it also recognises threats and determines emotions. The
Hypothalamus is the last and final responder. The

addressed in class sessions, contextual therapy (which has also been referred to as contextual family
therapyin prior literature) is not per se a theory as much as it is a method of therapy based on Ivan

Excluding such information could lead to misrepresenting the factors by which the client
experiences the world and bankrupt the influence of culture on development. Boszormenyi Nagy
stretches facts to include those details about world views that are a product of our own created
reality that is culminated by choice and agency. While a child certainly does not have a choice into
what family they are born into, the parents do have a choice into how they will interact with each
other around that child, such that, inconsistencies or neglect of that healthy relationship could
create for the child a fact that unhealthy conflict is normal or that they must choose sides of
affection (Goldenthal, 2005). Since there is an underlying foundation of psychotherapy present,
contextual therapy accounts for facts that may be present that the client may not be able to bring to
their conscience or that they may be unwilling to acknowledge that were out of their control, but
nevertheless, still occurred (Ruzgyte, 2011).
Psychology. The functioning of the person within was also heavily regarded by Boszormenyi Nagy,
such that his reflections from psychoanalytical theories would illuminate the need to connect the
parts of the individual psyche: cognitive abilities; emotional functioning; instinctual drives; internal
conflicts; moral and intellectual development; and concepts of object relations theory

Imagine you are coaching a team in college. You have had a great season and you ve only lost 1
game and won your division. However, you lose your spot in the playoff to another team that
was undefeated. How would this make you feel? The BCS should be replaced with a playoff
system in College Football. Replacing the BCS with a playoff system would give each of the
eleven conferences (and the FBS Independents) an equal opportunity to compete for the national
championship. Most teams are left out of the BCS due to 1 loss, even though they might ve had a
great season. A playoff system would even up the playing field, allowing more teams to compete
for the National Championship. No teams with 2 losses have ever made the championship (In fact

Higher ranked schools have an option to weaken to protect their undefeated record. Higher ranked
teams can pay lower ranked schools to play against them. This would allow the higher ranked
team to avoid a loss. Many teams pay lower ranked teams to play against them. For example,
Alabama (#1 ranked team in College Football) paid West Kentucky (6 7 record) $1.3 million to
play them. Another example is Miami (FL) (ACC Coastal Champion) paid Arkansas State (3 5
record) $300,000 to play them (Rovell 1).
A lot of people state that since there are so many teams, there is no way to play each team. This is
wrong for the following reason. Every team doesn t have to make the playoffs. Only one of every
conference (and one from the FBS Independents with six teams in them). Every team has a
conference (besides the FBS Independents) which means every team has a chance to compete in
their conference championship game. This would mean that every team in each conference
(including an FBS Independents championship) would have an equal opportunity to make the
playoffs (NCAA

Blacc The presence of love plays a distinct role on society. The amount of compassion and support given greatly affects an individual s outcome in life. The story told in Aloe Blacc s music video Love Is The Answer centers on two teenage brothers who become separated after their parents divorce. With each son residing with one parent, the video shows a contrast of the lives of the boys. The message of the video suggests that family life, social environments, and love are factors of adolescent behavior. The neatly maintained lockers and hallways, student computers, football field, and suburbia looking teenagers conveys the thought that he has a quality education that perhaps teaches moral ethics to their students. This son is also seen dedicating himself to football. The scenes highlight his passion and hard work as he is seen practicing on the football field. The second son s quality of life is not the same as his brother s. His mother is rarely seen in the music video. She only makes one appearance with her son. Her short appearance shows her yelling at him as he lies on the couch, holding a football. This son attends a school with damaged lockers and enters a classroom that appears to be a rundown portable building. Most of the students have rebellious looks on their faces and show no interest in their education. He spends his free time gambling and drinking with rebellious people. The contrast in the lifestyles of the two brothers suggests that the factors of behavior vary in each situation. Although social behavior is learned by youth through a variety of sources, including peers, school, the family and the neighborhood, it is the family that is the single most important influence on youth socialization (Donegan 1996). Both sons are highly influenced by the parent they live with. Judging by the stern facial expressions seen on the mother s son throughout ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Flaws of the Socratic Method The Flaws of the Socratic Method In Plato s Republic, as well as in most of his other works, the philosopher writes dialogues between the character of his mentor, Socrates, and various figures meant to illustrate contradictory positions. He carefully scripts the engagements in a form of discussion now called the Socratic Method, where Socrates critiques the positions of the other characters in order to find flaws in inaccurate arguments. Although this method is prevalent even today, I will make the case that even when Plato himself is using it, the Socratic Method, while not without benefits, is an extremely flawed way of conducting educational discourse. The Socratic Method is a dialectic method of argument, meaning that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The very nature of the Socratic Method makes for long and winding discussions, because the Method aims to strip away any falsehoods but provides few tools for building towards the truths for which it aims. Without a way to cull the ideas presented by the students, a professor must engage each of them as comprehensively as the next regardless of their accuracy, or else compromise the integrity of the dialogue. If he or she instead opts to inseminate information in a more traditional education style, each lecture and discussion can be tailored to divulge a specific concept and a specific and relevant set of arguments and objections can be presented and rejected, rather than struggling through a freeform conversation with inconsistent results varying from classroom to classroom (Ford 3) (Chen and Taylor). Additionally, the constant refutation of students necessitated by a teacher engaging them in a Socratic Dialectic has a questionable impact on the academic outlook of students. Christopher Ford describes the modern usage of the Socratic Method as psychologically abusive, saying that the public questioning is terrifying and that the style is both invasive in that student s knowledge /intelligence is publically examined, and evasive in that the professor hides the ball from the students. This practice of systematically and ruthlessly deconstructing any and all flaws in a student s argument can be extremely humiliating and can trigger ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people get stuck conforming to society, and other outside forces, they are never really themselves so they only care about society, as a result they never unlock their true potential. We strive to be like all our brother men, for all men must be alike. (Rand 19) That quote illustrates that perfectly how society is and one of the reasons Equality went and did his experiments, to be himself. In addition he was unlocking his true potential. Not only that but also when he was doing it he was by himself, with no restrictions, a free manto do what he wanted. When he was in school he was very smart, So we fought this curse. Limiting one s self to menial tasks and labors hinders that, in the same way being a street sweeper hindered Equality s ability to do that. It is a great sin, to be born with a head that is too quick. To limit people to only half their potential destroys them as people, and in addition their drive to succeed, thus keeping individualism out of sight and mind. With limiting people s potential they also prevent people from doing what they want. A life spent doing things one doesn t find joy in is a life wasted. Equality tried to convince himself that he liked street sweeping, so that he could repent of his transgressions of preference, but he never succeeded he always knew he was not meant to do that, we loved the science of things. • 6. Comparison Of Virginia Woolf And A Room Of One s Own Virginia Woolf was known as one of the great modern novelist. Woolf s work A Room of One s Own is one of her greatest works, and in that work, she talks of how women should be given the same rights as men in the literary world. Woolf speeches includes experiences she has had as men thinking of women being inferior animals to them. She even talked about the story of William Shakespeare s imaginary sister, Judith Shakespeare, and her story of trying to become a writer just like her brother. Throughout the rest of Woolf s speech, she answers questions that she is presented, and also flashback to her speech at Cambridge over the topic Women and Fiction. A Room of One s Own and Woolf s speech on the topic Women and Fiction are very similar through Woolf s believes and her approach to these two topics. Woolf s lecture on the topic Women and Fiction and her work A Room of One s Own have a distinct connection, because they both talk of women s hardships of becoming a writer, talk of what it takes for a womanto become a writer, and the way women are viewed in the man s eye. Throughout both of Woolf s work she talks of the hardships that women have at becoming a literary artist. According to Woolf, most women don t have the ability to become writers, because they are made to take care of their families and that s it. For example, when Woolf s mother died in 1895 she was forced to take over supervision of her home, and it was not till her father s death in 1905 (Woolf Society of Great Britain). In chapter one, Woolf goes on to compare the difference in education that s given to women and men and their drastic differences. Woolf says; The men s abodes have private rooms; the women share tight quarters. Men s colleges boast well stocked libraries; women s colleges provide sparse classrooms. Malestudents feast; femalestudents sup. Woolf observes, One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well. (Salem Press). Woolf believes that women have a very unfair advantage when it comes to women and their education, and believes that women will not be able to become successful writers. Given women s role in society during Woolf s lifetime it would have been really hard for her to become a writer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The process involves three main groups: issuers, underwriters, and purchasers (Chad). As I mentioned earlier, issuers are the corporations or government who sell the bonds and borrow money from investors. Underwriters are the, who act as an intermediary between issuers and investors, investment banks or other financial institutions that helps issuers to sell their bonds. The good examples are going to be major broker dealer firms like Goldman, Merrill Lynch, Morgan Stanley, etc. Purchasers are the bondholders, who bought a bond and lend the money and purchase the bond. Gulf Of Tonkin Resolution Essay On August 7, 1964, Congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, which authorized Johnson to take necessary measures to retaliate and promote the peace and security in Southeast Asia. Congress was definitely wrong in doing so. The results of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution were too chaotic and too violent to overlook. By 1964, the US desperate to contain communism had already sent troops to support South Vietnamese leader, Ngo Dinh Diem. I will talk you through what Carbon fibre is, its atomic structure, properties which then makes it the ideal material for modern tennis rackets. What is Carbon fibre? Carbon fibre consist of tiny filament about 5 8 mu metres in diameter. Carbon fibre mostly contains carbon bonds which are bonded together in a crystal Alignment. • 11. How to Cope with the Promises and Perils of Technology We are all technologists. We all believe in progress. But not all in the same way. The politics of engineering is as complicated as engineering itself, and as contested as man and nature that usually enrich political debates. The mission of an engineer is essentially savoring it, defending it, and improving it, but also coping with it and transcending it. There is nothing especially laudable in romanticizing lost worlds, or pretending that societies without skyscrapers or modern communication are more authentic than our own, or believing that disarming ourselves will make the perils of technological power disappear. May we not fantasize that the present world is necessarily the finest human achievement yet, or that politically necessary and morally justified uses of technological power are wholly innocent. For, they usually are not. Our problem is that of ensuring whether the future we believe in is worthy of our devotion. In other words, it is about how we cope with the promises and perils of technology. Answering this question will require clear thinking about scientific prospects, distinguishing wild speculations from scientific reality, and describing technological possibilities in a way that common man can judge and understand. It will require political leadership with a deeper understanding of engineering, and engineers who accept that technological expertise does not guarantee its balanced application to humanity. • 14. Inequalities In The South Analysis As the colonies in the South flourished and the wealthy class became an apparent part in society, the evidence of inequality grew. Inequality was present in religion, labor, and everyday society. This inequality affected the South for and the rest of the North American continent, shaping society and the way of life for many years to come. During the seventeenth century, religion played a vital role in the lives of Americans. Even though this was true, the Southern people did not communicate their beliefs and many did not become members of a church. After 1642, the governor of Virginia, William Berkeley, forced his colony to become pure Anglican, pushing out the Puritans and Quakers. By the end of the 1600s, Anglicans dominated the Chesapeake Bay area, and during the eighteenth century, Anglicanism became the most apparent religion in the South. Anglicans were not forced to publically announce their religion, and they focused on stressing Christianityas a reasonable faith and the goodness of God. Seamus Heaney Digging amp;#8220;Digging ; is about a person looking out of a window at their Father digging, describing what he/she sees and then the poem goes on to describe what he/she feels. I believe that the narrative voice in the poem is in fact that of Seamus Heaney. There are a number of clues that lead me to this conclusion. The first and most obvious one is in the first line, amp;#8216;Between my finger and my thumb. amp;#8217; The poet writes in the first person throughout the poem. He writes about his Father and his Grandfather and he seems to move from describing his Father to describing his Grandfather. He does this so smoothly that the reader harldy notices the transition that took place. The second clue is slightly more hidden. The poet ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That line also paints an image in the readers mind of the spade sinking in and the scratching/rasping sound it makes. An example of how the author does the same thing only with the sense touch is, amp;#8216;The coarse boot nestled on the lug, the shaft Against the inside knee was levered firmly. amp;#8217; In this case the second line emphasizes the first. It does this by using the words levered and firmly they make the whole phrase seem more realistic. However the best possible example of this is when the poet uses two senses to emphasize sight amp;#8216;The cold smell of potatoe mould, the squelch and slap Of soggy peat, the curt cuts of an edge. amp;#8217; These two lines not only include two senses but one of the senses uses two onomatopoeic words; squelch and slap. These two words suggest someone moving through thick soggy mud for some reason it also suggests to me that it was on a cold day. In my opinion that line is also quite interesting to read because it paints a clear picture in my mind amp;#8217;s eye of someone toiling and sloshing around in the mud. I think this is because the poet uses words like; soggy, curt, cuts and edge. Since those words are sharp words they make the phrase clearer and sharper in my mind amp;#8217;s eye. Materialistic, this means when someone is very possessive to and highly concerned with material things usually things like, money. I think this because, whenever Robin Hood and his merry men had a chance they would go on the roads and wait somewhere, and when they saw someone rich come near they would basically invite them to a feast and charge them a fortune. Thesis statement: The diverse cultural backgrounds and community attitudes prevent girls from attending schools and thereby act as the barrier in maintaining gender equality in India. The sex ratio, which is the number of girl students per 1000 male students, in the Indian high schools is 3:1 (boy: girl). The primary reason for the decline in the birth ratio of females in India is mainly because of the intense treatments inflicted to the girls at the time of their birth. The lowest sexratio in India is witnessed in Haryana, which reflects 877 females to that of 1000 males. However in Kerala, the number of females is more than that of males, a ratio of 1000:1084. If someone isn t motivated to move forward and create new ideas, there will be someone else that will succeed in their place. People need change sometime, or their lives would be dull, static, and boring. Change is crucial to a person s life to show dynamic differences in their characteristics. It is important for people to be flexible and open minded in different experiences to handle future circumstances. Change is the key to determine one s future. In J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan, the character Tinker Bellis dynamic as illustrated by her words, actions, and motivations. To start, Tinker Bell is shown to be dynamic depicted through her unkind words. An example of this from the book is when Tink treats Wendy offensively by calling her ugly: He had to translate. She is not very polite. She says you are a great ugly girl, and that she is my fairy(Barrie 27). Tinker Bell is shown to be uncivil and boorish towards Wendy by calling her ugly. As a perfect antagonist, she creates tension and suspense in the story with her threats towards Wendy. Without remorse, Tink doesn t even apologize to Wendy. With this type of behavior, she shows her nasty side, her lack of concern for her feelings, and how she may have hurt them. However, while Tinker Bell expressed in words, her more cruel side, being churlish towards Wendy, that doesn t represent her whole self. Next, Tinker Bell illustrates her dynamic self through her actions towards other characters, like Peter. For instance, when Tink plays the role of protagonist towards Peter by saving his life: No time for words now; time for deeds;and with one of her lightning movements Tink got between his lips and the draught, and drained it to the dregs (121). Tink flew in front of Peter s lips before he could drink the poison knowing it could kill either Peter or herself depending on who drank it. Tinker Bell shows a caring and selfless side through an action that could kill her, but her love for Peter was so strong, she had no choice. This makes her a protagonist. All in all, she was Peter s hero that night, and this explains how Tink is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By embracing and driving research, industries which rely on evolving electronic devices and methods enjoy a rapid pace of development. Because of this, we see photonic solutions proposed as an alternative to the more physical electronic devices. Moreover, we see approaches that integrate these worlds. Some may say they want to be an astronaut, or a photographer, or a successful business person. She claims A woman s personhood can exist fully only in a society that support it ... unless her society shares that view, she will not enjoy real freedom (Nash 45). Personhood is an idea that is prevalent in every form of storytelling and what better story to analyze with this idea that Eilis O Neal s The False Princess ? This novel literally opens with the protagonist having her identity taken from her. Using Nash s ideals about what it takes to possess personhood I will explain how Sinda, The False Princess, takes the personhood that was stolen from her, obtains the respect from others, and maintains her place in the new lifeshe is thrust into. Sinda, I whispered. I waited for the word to have some meaning, to fill the empti[ness] ... But the name just faded away, filling nothing, lost (O Neal 16). Once a mighty princess, now a lowly nobody; This excerpt is the first time the protagonist, newly named Sinda, comes to terms with the fact that her identity has been permanently stripped from her. This is not simply a loss of her personhood, but a loss of her very being for 16 years. Sinda has been reshaped and cast out in a matter of minutes and she doesn t complain once during the process. Perhaps it all happened so fast or perhaps there is a sense of complete loss and lack of willpower in a circumstance like this, but what is clear is that there would be no coming back from something like this for Sinda. At this point in the story it is looking utterly hopeless in terms of Sinda s possession of an identity and more importantly a personhood. However, as Sinda begins to come to terms with her new life she is awakened to the power she posses literally and figuratively. Something similar happened during the industrial revolution, which society changes. However, the church was present to advocate for those whose happiness was taken away. Pope Leon XIII marked the history of society by writing the Rerum NovarumEncyclicalduring the industrial revolution. Even though the industrial revolution transformed the history of the world with the creation of new job s factories, it changed the society by originating two classes, the wealthy and the poor. Pope Leon XIII, saw that advantages and disadvantages of the industrial revolution and decided to convey the injustices happened at that time. Pope Leo XIIIused that scripture and reason of natural law to argue about the common goods and the rights of the workers. Sharing benefits between members of the community is a principle that Pope Leo XIII transmitted in his encyclical. The church has always been on behalf of the poor. For that reason Pope Leo XIII used that Bible as a way to support his idea of the common good. He cited, There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned land or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold (Acts 4:34). A Research Study On Laboratory LABORATORY SECTIONS In contrast to the often passive lecture environment, laboratory classes provide an opportunity for active hands on learning, where students can apply and engage with the material learned in lecture. For many students, labs are where their enthusiasm and interest in the material is stimulated. However, if the experiments appear unconnected to the theory learned in class, or unrelated to everyday life or the student s major, they can be viewed as busy work: come to class, follow a set procedure, collect data, fill in datasheet, discuss the results then repeat the next week, rather than a learning opportunity. This is especially true of introductory labs were students are learning basic procedures. Consequently, a well prepared TA who clearly explains the relevance of the experiment can have a large impact is how the lab is perceived. TAs are also responsible for ensuring safe working practices. A major component of this is being prepared. Before the semester starts, read all relevant safety manuals. The video is set in three main sequences, each revolving around the main character, a young teenage boy. The purpose of this video is to highlight the issues with unnecessary sexualization of women, escapism and addiction, as well as heartbreak and regret. These services are redefining the way we find and connect to interests and hobbies. Through the expansion of Geo location and tagging mobile social media services, user s privacy online will continue to be exposed without their knowledge and risk being victims to potential criminals. With the progression and development in GPS and Wi Fi, geo location has become a dominant tool that can collect information over huge distances. The Ancient Egyptian Revolution And The Religious Services For nothing irrational or fabulous or prompted by superstition, as some believe, was embodied in the religious services, but ideas which either had moral and necessary causes or were not devoid of historical or physical plausibility (De Iside et Osiride. Plutarch. 8.353e). The Ancient Egyptians craving for Ma at over Isfet is most prevalent in this perception, with that being said the irrational as well as the fabulous have no reason to exist in the Egyptians, or any, ordered world, thus allowing the creation of the essentiality of sensible reasons for events of calamity, such as those of plague and disease; the calendars of lucky and unlucky days being a primary example of the contradictory effort. It could be thought that the calendars of lucky and unlucky days are just indicators of pure superstition, but the Ancient Egyptians did not see it that way, therefore this thought cannot work in this example. Henceforth, it may be that the Egyptians saw the epagomenal days as outstandingly wicked since their prominence was that of being called the five days in addition to the year , disrupting the order the calendar had of being twelve thirty day months. For the duration of the epagomenal days, the Ancient Egyptians assumed that time, neheh, remained stagnant and fearing that djet, best described by J. Assmann as being the unchanging continuation of that which is completed , might persist evermore, thus forever upsetting Ma at, unless particular rituals were performed. ... Despite being awfully comfortable, I got up, figuring I was just hungry. As I walked the the kitchen, I pondered about my snack. Carrots and orange juice usually is the best choice. I dropped the blanket I had wrapped around me. Much better. I grabbed my carrots and orange juice, dragged the blanket behind me and took my time getting back to my room. I hopped onto the bed with my snack in hand, and turned on the TV with the remote. The button let out a quiet click! as I pushed the smooth, plastic button, before the TV turned on. Although the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) already permitted the administration to wiretap on an emergency basis and apply for warrants retroactively, the administration maintained that FISA was too cumbersome when urgent issues of national security were at stake. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales offered two justifications for the legality of the domestic spying program, asserting that the president had the inherent authority under the Constitution, as commander in chief, to engage in this kind of activity and that Congress, when it authorize[d] the president to use all necessary and appropriate force against al Qaeda in 2001, indirectly sanctioned it. Critics objected that the wiretapping infringed on civil liberties, sidestepped the legislative branch, and placed the president above the law. In August 2006, a federal judge in Detroit ruled the wiretapping program unconstitutional. However, in July 2008, Congress passed a bill overhauling the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act effectively legalizing Bush s secret program. Mississippi, and the fictional trial of Tom Robinson in Harper Lee s To Kill a Mockingbird; and to prove why the defendant of the third trial never had a chance. Each took place in the rural South in the 1920 s and 30 s and involved the unfair conviction of young black males by all white juries pressured by the threat of mob violence. The three of us anxiously awaited stepping foot into the care facility as we had no idea what was to come. I began to wonder what the patients would be like and how I would care for them. Consequently, I could feel my heart pounding as I was afraid of hurting the residents and not promoting healing from their ailments. I didn t know what illnesses or diseases would place individuals in the healthcare unit in the facility. That terrified me. I wanted to know everything I could about the residents prior to stepping foot in the building, but that knowledge wasn t attainable. While trying to process my fears, I was thinking of the quote from Maya Angelou that says, As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and ourselves. They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel. This lack of knowledge scared me; however, I knew that regardless of what placed the residents on the unit, I would care for them with respect and compassion. Eventually the time rolled around to walk in the front door, and I was shaking with nerves. My learning community of ten students and our instructor walked into the building, through many hallways, and onto the unit our first nursing unit.
