Comparing Male and Female Mass Indexes
Method:
The experiment was conducted with the informed consent of all of the participants. These subjects
consisted of 34 males and 30 females all of which were in good health and aged between 18 and 36.
Confidentiality was of utmost importance and respected throughout the entire project. If any
potential subjects did not wish to participate then that was understood and they did not take part.
Another means of safeguarding the privacy of both groups (males and females) was to conduct the
measurements at different times. One session was for males only and another for only females.
The following measurements were taken body mass (kg), height (m), % body fat, 2nd digit (index
finger)(mm), 4th digit (ring finger)(mm), foot (cm), waist (cm), hip (cm), BMI and then the
differences between 2nd and 4th digits, waist to hip and height to foot sizes.
The body mass was taken using analogue scales, the height using a stadiometer, % body fat using
bio electrical impedance analysis monitor (with damp hands), 2nd and 4th digit (on the right hand)
and foot (right foot) size using an accurate ruler and finally the hip using a tape measure.
After the process had taken place of gathering all the required measurements we then carried out a
statistical analysis which included the mean averages, the standard deviation and finally the t test
using the primary data we had gathered. The software used was OpenOffice.org Calculator, this
software is very similar to that of Microsoft Excel.

Bridges To Success Summer Program
I believe the Bridges to Success Summer program is a great opportunity for me and provides me
with the chance to do what my parents never got to accomplish. They have always encouraged
me to do my best in high school, so that one day I could go on to college and further my education
in order to achieve my goals. I am certain that this program will guide me in the right direction and
will help me to be successful. One of the biggest challenges in my life that I had to overcome was
not having my dad around for the past 4 years. When I was 14 years old my dad was incarcerated. I
really looked up to my dad. He was my biggest role model. At a younger age, my brother and I used
to fight over who was most like him. During my early teenage years, my dad... Show more content

It took things off my mind and I finally did not feel as alone and was not consumed with the
thought of my dad anymore. This was a great way to occupy my time. I then began to open up
and started meeting a lot of new friends. A few of the wrestlers on the team later became my best
friends. I did not only gain friends from wrestling, but my coaches became my roles models. They
were such an encouragement and I was able to talk to them about anything. I was no longer sad,
school became something I looked forward to each day. My coaches taught me how important it
was to make goals for myself and to be the best person I could possibly be. My first two goals were
to maintain a GPA above a 3.0 and to win JV states as a freshman. I ended accomplishing both
my goals by the end of freshman year and it was the best feeling in the world. The next year I
was expected to win 1st place again, but I ended up losing in my final match. This was just
another setback, which really discouraged me, but my coaches were there for me every step of the
way. They helped me to realize that there is no such thing as failure there are only lessons to be

Persuasive Essay On Political Advertising
Political ads can be viewed as annoying, excessive, biased, and unnecessary. This opinion is
shared among many people within America with many wanting all ads to stop entirely. Now, are
these ads truly needed or are they just to make a candidate look good? Certain strategies used in
political campaigns can be confusing and frustrating. However, they can also help bring people
together to discuss their opinions and beliefs in order to decide who to support. Political ads can
encourage people to come together because of a common cause, improving our nation, and who is
the best candidatefor President. Political signs and commercials are one tactic that can be
misleading. Many people feel that candidates use bandwagons and endorsements to help them
look good and promise immediate changes which are either not possible or can take a long time
to achieve. This is like with Mondale Ferraro, who made many different types of images to make
him look more popular (Document A). However, these images also help people decide who would
be betterfor the job based off of looks, beliefs, and other attributes. I would use these to help make
myself stand out from the other candidates by putting in true aspects into my campaign so they
do not put false hope into what I stand for. This also helps decide what issues the public focuses
on the most based on their beliefs. The candidates running for President try to get rid of the
issues the public are concerned about to encourage the public to vote for them. Bandwagons use
well known and respected groups of people to influence the public to vote for a candidate
because they are doing it. This can be done with several methods, like endorsement, glittering
generalities, and even using a spoil system to intrigue people into electing them. This is like the
Reagan TV ad where he tried to improve his image with the actions he had promised, which
spread with the public (Document B). In addition, it helps clarify what people want most out of a
candidate for their benefit, as well as their own benefits. I would use bandwagons, because it helps
get other people s attention and make myself popular to others. But these methods can help a
candidate who already has a lot of public support. This

Case Study Of The Chateau De Chenonceau
I would love to travel to France, not just anywhere in France, but to the beautiful ChГўteau De
Chenonceau in the Loire valley. I would love to see and study the buildings amazing history and
Architecture. Its location is beautiful as it was built in the chateau of the Loire valley (a lake in
France), and is known for its amazing history. The first of many tasks in order to achieve this
goal is to figure out the cost of travel, the second task would be to dive into the history of the
Chateau, then followed up by the third task of a brief discussion of the Architectural, interior, and
the exterior design of the landscape. The Castle has also been predominately been owned by
women, was a battleground, a military hospital, and now a museum. Many lives have been shed

The Performance Of The Professional Sports Entertainment...
The Destruction of Competitiveness with the Over Usage of Participatory Awards
In a world where athletes get paid the most that they ever have and the workforce is the most
competitive, participation awards are hindering the ability for fairness and impartiality to grow
and for humans to flourish. Society is becoming a place where everyone is looked at equally,
truly eliminating being unique and taking away individualism, fairness and teamwork. By doing
this, people with great powers and capabilities in the general populace are being left behind and
denied ability to achieve their own personal greatness. Without this chance to strive, they will be
left feeling complacent and never be able to flourish their abilities and strengths. The workforce
lose a higher level employee, with the middle class never learning the traits taught through
competition. These workers will never push themselves and expect to be rewarded solely for
showing up to work. The professional sports entertainment market will also have a smaller pool
of great athletes to choose from which leads to more teams not performing at a high enough
level with cities losing teams and athletes losing jobs. The concept of teamwork will slowly
disappear leaving a trail of individualistic yet equal members of society. Competition and fair play
are losing ground to the freshly remodeled idea of participation awards, slowly devaluing the need
to strive for greatness and creating a society focused on over equality

Fight The Fees Movement Analysis
The various demands mentioned above by the Fight the Fees movement have been supported with
multiple arguments that have been explicitly mentioned within their website. The primary, most
obvious justification for their demands would be the simple fact that Ontario constitutes the highest
tuition rates in all of Canada, as the current framework allows tuition for domestic students to
increase approximately three to five percent annually (Canadian Federation of Students, 2016). This
argument then leads to the discriminationthis creates towards students of middle low income
households that are simply unable to afford such high rates. Racismis another issue that is brought
up within this dilemma because it is argued that those who come from racialized or marginalized
groups are at greater risk of facing such realities of financial instability. The group specifically refers
to visible minorities and indigenous communities and the struggles they face within the current
white supremacist and racist Canadian society we live in. Furthermore, the Fight the Fees
movement also advocates on behalf of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Importance Of Internet Privacy
The purpose why internet privacy be invented is because the scientists hoped that the hardware,
software and data in its network system can be protected from accidental and malicious damage,
alteration, disclosure. Also wanted its system can be continuous and reliable Running, network
service is not interrupted, etc. But as for today, there are still lots of aspects like viruses and rogue
software are unchecked. The causes of virus and rogue software s rampant are both human factors
and systemic vulnerabilities.
In today s Internet world, Internet security seems to be considered an outdated idea. Instead of
making security a priority, technology companies see it as an added way, not as a security measure.
This can be referred to now there are many unsound places in the construction of Internet security.
But at the same time, some technology companies and the government set special legal restrictions
on them, but also can reflect its sound aspects.
Obviously, legislation is the most effective and direct way to limit cybercrime and improve cyber
security. In the original, there was no law that would prevent cybercrime from taking place. The
company collected data about people s internet access, assembled it into detailed profiles, and sold
it to advertisers or others without a request for permission. So it is best to see the support that
appears on the web and the minimum privacy standards that are turned off. The article states that
the Obama administration has called

Different Types of Tears During Shoulder Dislocation Essay
With all of the tears, the first type of tear is one where the labrum is torn all of the way off of the
bone. This type of tear usually correlates with an injury to the shoulder where the shoulder has
subluxated or dislocated. Sometimes, this tear occurs and the individual does not realize that the
shoulderhas slid out of the socket. This can make it much worse and cause other types of injuries to
the ligaments around the shoulder.
The second type of labrum tear is tearing within the actual labrum. The sides of the labrum after a
while may get frayed, meaning a slight tear where the labrum slowly starts to unravel like yarn, so
that the edge is no longer even and smooth. This type of tearing is proven to be pretty common and

All of the different tears have the same symptoms for the most part, as I explained before. There
are many different sports that one can find this injury in, especially when it is located in the
shoulder. Sports such as baseball, softball, tennis, football, frisbee, basketball and even hockey
are just some of the many sports that doctors have found this injury to be common in. This past
year, a boy on my brothers hockey team tore his shoulder labrum at the beginning of the hockey
season. He was not able to practice, nor play in games during this time. Surgery for his injury
was performed in November, just as the hockey season was kicking off. His recovery is expected
to take about 6 months because of the severity of the injury. He was originally in a sling for the
first month. Doctors protocol had him icing everyday for at least two hours for the first month
after surgery as well. Once swelling began to go down, he began physical therapy. Currently, he s
not allowed to lift more than 20 pounds. Physical therapy is going really well and he is already
supposed to shorten his expected recovery time. He should be back in for this upcoming season.
There are a very small amount of easy treatments possible for this injury. Depending on the type of
labral tear and intensity of symptoms, one may need surgery. Most tears, both shoulder and hip, do
not depend upon surgery, but patients that obtain

Defining Underachievement
Under achievement is a threatening position to educators and can be a disruptive force throughout
education systems. The idea of under achievement suggests that the systems is at fault because
students do not reach their potential under the guidance of that system. The purpose of this essay is
to analyze the idea or terminology of under achievement in the context of my specific teaching
scenario. I will present my argument by first, introducing literature that has been specifically
enlightening towards the subject. This essay will then highlight my personal experiences with this
phenomenon in my own class room and how certain experiences have helped me define what under
achievement actually is and can help me recognize its features in the future. Lastly, this essay will
offer some guidelines in fixing the problems that will be indentified in examining under
achievement, and focus on strategies that may be useful in improving this particular area of
educationand learning.
Defining Under Achievement Under achievement is a difficult idea to grasp in its entirety due to
its reliance on forecasted expectations. It is important to realize that educators are not prophets and
cannot successfully predict the academic success of students based on past performance. Although
we cannot fully capture, qualitatively what under achievement really consists of, this idea is better
understood in a subjective manner. Reiss (2009) suggested that there are six motives that can

Parallax, Star Brightness, And Kepler s Laws Of Planetary...
I chose Proportional Scales in the Solar System, Examining Parallax, Star brightness, and Kepler

Honestly I had some corrections to make in each assignment but in the end they were almost
perfect. My first reaction was to choose topics that were the easiest to write about. But I thought
about it and I chose the topics that I best understood. I enjoyed these activities the most and if I

The biggest thing that stands out to me when I read that question is the Parallax assignment.
When we started that assignment I was so confused, and lost I just didn t understand it. But
when we were done with it I took the most out of that assignment than any other one. My first
example is the answer to the question we answered at the beginning, and I had no idea what to
put so I answered with one word, again hoping out of pure luck I would be right. If you were to
ask me what is parallax? I would probably stare blankly with no idea what it was, and at the end
of the assignment I could tell you almost anything about it. My second example is how well my
parallax summary turned out, and even my graph. I completely understand how when the distance
to an object increases the observed parallax decreases. I think the moment I understood everything
was when I held up my thumb straight out in front of me, closed one eye and then the next. I
know, it sounds dumb but that intrigued me into the assignment, when a little part of me finally
understood it. My notebook helped me have everything right in front of me opposed to searching
for multiple papers. Being a visual learner scared me going into high school until I had the
opportunity to see everything at once. In all honesty the one thing that would improve my
notebook would be motivation to myself. If I don t want to answer those questions we were

Pro Bono Cons
Introduction The concept of mandatory pro bono and whether or not lawyers should be required to
participate in this public service has been the contentious subject of debate over recent years.
Focusing on Mirko Bagaric and Penny Dimopoulos statement: In our view not only do lawyers not
have a duty to act for free, but they are misguided in doing so and should, for the long term benefit
of the community, cease engaging in pro bono work, this essay will critically analyse the
implications of introducing mandatory pro bono into the legal profession by examining both the
positive and negative aspects through the issues of altruism, tradition, government funding and the
onus on small firms. Arguments for Mandatory Pro Bono The benefits of... Show more content on

Mirko Bagaric and Penny Dimopoulos argue that the introduction of mandatory pro bono will
only encourage the government to continue to decrease it s funding of legal aid services as the
government will further shirk the responsibility onto the legal profession. For example, the
current Australian budget has proposed yet another large decrease in government funding for
2017 2018, this includes the quarantining of some of the community legal centre funding.
Furthermore, it is not fair of the government to place an expectation on the legal to perform legal
services for free when there is no similar altruistic expectation placed on professional from other
areas, such as: physiotherapists, chiropractors, doctors and psychologists. All the services
provided by these other professions for free or at a discount are usually done so because the costs
are then subsidized by the government. The introduction of mandatory pro bono should not be seen
as a means for the government to avoid their responsibility to the legal community, instead if it is
to be introduce it would need to be followed by the agreement of the government to provide more
funding to legal

The Is A Japan s Symbolic Image
Yasukuni shrine, is a Japan s symbolic image. Located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, this shrine is widely
recognized as a Shinto Shrine. Founded on June 1869 by the Emperor Meiji himself, its existence
has the purpose of commemorating those who have fallen for the Empire of Japan. Also the
original name is TЕЌkyЕЌ ShЕЌkonsha, which means shrine to summon the soul. There would not
be much to say if it was one in many normal Shintoshrines in Japan which their existence do not
concerned politics. The difference is that the shrine specifically honors 2.5 million fallen heroes
officers, personnel which died during military service and 14 considered war criminals
(particularly class A war criminals) in the World War II when Japan was a fascist regime were
being enshrined (spiritually kept in the shrine through a sort of traditional Japanese ceremony).
Related to this topic is the article: The Yasukuni Shrine dispute and the politics of identity in Japan

fuss mentioning is the complexity of Japan s attitude toward the Yasukuni Shrine to reconcile the
nation s political identities through it. In general, the whole text is focused on the role of Japanese

Implicit Gender Messages in Advertisement If you have ever taken a psychology or sociology
class, you have heard of the film by Jean Kilbourne, Killing Us Softly 4, which maps out a variety
of tropes found in advertisement with regards to gender roles in American society. Some of the
themes are, but not limited to objectification, ageism, and dismemberment which are the tropes that
I have decided to focus on for this research project. The laws surrounding women objectification is
slim, and it is necessary to start implementing laws that protect women and how advertisements
affect the minds of young women growing up today. Kilbourne states in the film that the majority

The message of this ad can be interpreted as a women s face being the only important part of her
and everything else appears to be in the shadows or darkness because it is less important. This is a
great example of Objectification Theory, (Fredrickson and Roberts, 1997) which states that women
are seen as objects, and therefore sexualized, so that they can be used by others. This woman s face
is the only important part of her. The slogan of the ad is a miracle sleeping cream/for more
rested, younger looking skin, which is relaying a message that beauty is for the young and that
their product performs miracles. Additionally, it suggests that staying young and beautiful are
synonymous as well as a job that a woman has to work at even when they are unconscious
because youth/beauty is a 24 hour obsession. There is no real testing or laws surrounding these
products and how they are advertised. At least none that I can find. Saying that it is an old
product and it is doctor approved means nothing, and yet we still trust it. There is also a stamp that
endorses the product to suggest the legitimacy of it because it reads quality tested / good

Imperialism in Burma
Burma: a country of exceptional beauty, abundant natural resources, valuable minerals, fertile soil,
and one of the healthiest climates in the tropics. Britain desired these features, so they imperialized
the whole country in 1885 and imposed colonial rule throughout Burma. Imperialism is... The
British benefit and hurt the country in many ways, completely changing the country forever.
Western imperialismin Burmawas more costly than beneficial; even though the British improved
and modernized education, transportation, and daily life, they also destroyed the economy, culture,
and religion, ultimately causing more harm than good by dividing the country, killing many
natives, and scarring the country forever. The British greatly weakened politics in Burma. When
the British invaded Burma, troops burned down villages and suppressed dissent with mass
executions. British colonial rule used the principle of divide and rule. Divide and rule divided the
country into separate areas based on nationality. The colonial administration relied heavily on
Indian bureaucrats to impose their interests. The British ended Burma s monarchy and sent their
king Thibaw into exile because he provoked a dispute with a British timber company. Britain
wanted control of Burma to protect its possessions in India and to gain a land route to China. The
British incorporated Burma into India, and Burma became known as Further India. The British
imposed colonial rule in 1886; the Burmese

When returning to Forrester s apartment to retrieve his backpack, Jamal apologizes for
breaking in. Though it is morally right for him to do so, it takes courage to come back and
apologize for taking part in such a disrespectful dare. According to Clinton (2001), He hides his
academic abilities from his friends in fear of being rejected as an intellectual snob (p. 5). This
means that when Jamal is with his friends, he hides his true identity because he refuses to be an
outcast. His fear of judgmental assumptions from his friends is overcome when he discloses the
information that he would be attending a higher class school, Mailor. This news shocks them
due to the fact he lives in a run down part of town and is not portrayed to be the type of person to
attend a nice school. It takes courage for Jamal to bring out that side of himself to his peers. He
has enough bravery within him to go against his friends and follow his own path despite the
prejudice rumors about him. Along with Jamal, Forrester has his own terrors. His biggest fear is
to put himself back into the world after being secluded for forty years. Jamal attempts to aid
Forrester in reentering the society that has changed since he began to loathe in his apartment day
after day. After being closed off from society, he is persuaded to go back out into the world.

Pros Of Cloning
There are animals, plants, and possibly humans that have all been cloned before. Either they have
been artificially or naturally cloned (Stratfor). Scientists are still researching on how to artificially
clone humans. The amount of technology in this world, anything is possible. The first ever
artificially cloned animal, was a sheep named dolly(Stratfor). It took a lot of difficult work for the
reproduction. Humans should be cloned for extra body parts. Those extra body parts could save
lives. Cloningshould be used in this world, so that no animals could go extinct and humans will
hopefully be able to be coned in the future.
The earth has created a variety of people and animals. Most of the people and animals are usually
different, since people are humans and not animals. Creatures are easier to clone compared
humans (Begley). Humans should only be cloned for spare body parts not to have an exact replica
of itself. When dolly first became cloned, humans wanted to then be cloned. Several movies about
cloning have inspired scientists to research more about cloning. Other movies often have the idea of
cloning wrong, like the film Multiplicity , ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

going to be hard to clone humans. It took a lot of time and effort to get precise on the process.
Many people believed that the embryo could just stay in an environment like what the adult lived
in. The embryo has to stay in a different environment for the development (Human Cloning). The

The Pawnee Indians lived in lodges made of earth while the Sioux lived teepees. 5. There are
many differences between the whites and natives. The Sioux Indians believed that there was no

they could use it as the pleased. The whites had a whole different prospective on this. They
believed they owned the land. Which they eventually ran the Indians off the land they claimed was
theirs to live on making the Indians leave their home lands. The Indians also believed in never
wasting anything. They used every part of the buffalo not wasting any of it. The Sioux find buffalo

The Differences Between Prairie Style Architecture And...
In this paper I will be discussing and contrasting the differences between Prairie Style architecture
and Hi tech architecture. We will go over the origin, the years it was used, the main components
and characteristics, some of the architects that used these design types, a few real= world
examples, and we will compare them. Prairie School was a late 19th and early 20th century
architectural style, most common to the Midwestern United States. The style is usually marked by
horizontal lines, flat or hipped roofs with broad overhanging eaves, windows grouped in horizontal
bands, integration with the landscape, solid construction, craftsmanship, and discipline in the use of
ornament. Horizontal lines were thought to evoke and relate to the... Show more content on

The designation Prairie is due to the dominant horizontality of the majority of Prairie style buildings
which echoes the wide, flat, treeless expanses of the mid Western United States. The most famous
proponent of the style, Frank Lloyd Wright, promoted an idea of organic architecture , the primary
tenet of which was that a structure should look as if it naturally grew from the site. Wright also felt
that a horizontal orientation was a distinctly American design motif, in that the younger country had
much more open, undeveloped land than found in most older, urbanized European nations.
Hi tech architecture, also known as Structural Expressionism, is a type of Late Modern architectural
style that emerged in the 1970s, incorporating elements of hi tech industry and technology into
building design. Hi tech architecture appeared as revamped modernism, an extension of those
previous ideas helped by even more technological advances. This category serves as a bridge
between modernism and post modernism; however, there remain gray areas as to where one
category ends and the other begins. In the 1980s, hi tech architecture became more difficult to
distinguish from post modern architecture. Some of its themes and ideas were later absorbed into
the style of Neo Futurism art and architectural movement.
Like Brutalism, Structural Expressionist buildings reveal their structure on the outside as well as
the inside, but with visual emphasis placed on the

The Man, The Myth, The Legend
A man by the name of Walt Disney, is the ideal symbol of an American hero. Disney is known to
bring inspiration and imagination into many of his productions. Disneyland, the happiest place on
earth, was built by Disney in the late forties. As the founder of Walt DisneyCompany, and a
producer, he has collected a record of fifty nine nominations as an Academy Award winner,
winning thirty two awards, and still holding the record. At sixty five, Disney died of lung
cancer, leaving behind the Florida theme park to not be completed by him, more known as
Disney World. Every hero faces three challenging stages in his or her life, and for Walt disney, he
will be introduced in his ordinary world, achieve a goal, and follow a path that is not always direct
or clear.
Every hero is introduced in an ordinary world, which is to become a dazzling ending. Disney

Future Of Pharmacovigilance ( Pv ) Outsourcing India Essay
Future of Pharmacovigilance (PV) Outsourcing in India
Abstract
Over the past few decades, many high profile drug recalls, regulatory authority warnings and
negative media impact have caused monetary losses and tarnishing of the image of pharmaceutical
companies. Consequently, these companies have invested heavily on PV systems.
For a pharmaceutical company, setting up a PV system in house is not always cost effective and
finding qualified and trained resources is a huge challenge. Thus, these companies have relied on
PV outsourcing to markets such as India. This white paper provides an overview of the current PV
outsourcing market in India and a prediction into the future of PV outsourcing in India based on
current trends in the PV world.
Introduction
There has been an ever increasing pressure on pharmaceutical companies with respect to
proactive detection and management of safety signals or concerns related to the use of a
medicinal product and grave concerns regarding public health impact. This along with strict
regulatory requirements has sparked the exponential rise of the global PV market. Many high
profile drug withdrawals (e.g. Vioxx i.e. rofecoxib from Merck that was recalled in 2004) in the
past decade has led to various pharmaceuticals to adopt Good PV Practice guidelines in a more
stringent way. These factors are expected to drive the growth of the global PV market.
As per a market research report by Transparency Market Research1, the global PV market is
expected

War Destruction on Combatents in Kurt VonnegutВґs...
The effects of war are devastating for those who experience it. The wake of destruction left behind
by bloody conflicts can traumatize any onlooker; those who face the fighting firsthand are often
permanently affected by the horrors they witness. Frequently, combatants require special treatment
for the psychological torment that can follow intense fighting. Kurt Vonneguts Slaughterhouse Five
explores the harmful effects of isolation, imprisonment, and oppression through a soldier s
perspective. Sections of Vonnegut s novel take place during World War II: the bloodiest war
ever fought. The story follows Billy Pilgrim, a young man who is forced to fight overseas
despite the rough conditions he will face. Billy joins his regiment as it [is] in the process of
being destroyed by Germans (Vonnegut 40), and Vonnegut s description of Billy accentuates his
lack of preparation. He is given very little combat training, ill fitting clothes, and is not even
supplied with a firearm (Vonnegut 41). From the beginning, Billy is isolated from the other
troops in a way because he is not as well prepared as the others. During a scouting mission after
the devastating Battle of the Bulge, Billy is separated from his group and left with another scout,
Roland Weary. This is when Billy s physical isolation begins, chronologically speaking. Billy and
Roland inadvertently separate themselves from their squadron and begin to wander around behind
enemy lines. Unlike Roland, however, Billy seems to

The Ramayan A Shortened Modern Prose Version Of The Indian...
The Ramayana: A Shortened Modern Prose Version of the Indian Epic. R. K. Narayan
The Ramayana is an epic poem that many Hindus consider to be scripture. The original version
was written in Sanskrit by Valmiki. The Ramayana has been retold many times throughout the
years and has been translated in many languages. The English version is based on the version in
the Tamil language of South India which was written by Kamban. In 1972, Indian Novelist R.K.
Narayan published this version. In this review I will define dharma, connect the story in terms of
the Hindu concept of dharma and answer the following questions: what is Rama s dharma? What is
Sita dharma? What is Hanuman s dharma? Because Hanuman is non human, does this alter his
dharma? What is Ravana dharma? Since he is a demon, he might fulfill his demon dharma by
committing evil. The question still remains, Through Ravana actions how does this help prove the
existence evil? By the end I will consider the marriage of Rama and Sita and how it was restored
through divine intervention.
To begin I will define the term dharma. Dharma is considered to be the very foundation of life. It is
a moral law combined with spiritual discipline that guides one s life. Dharma means righteousness,
morality, spirituality, responsibility, and duty. The author does not specifically use the word
dharma in the book. However the idea that each character has a duty or destiny to fulfill is prevalent
throughout. Every character in the

Utilitarianism Research Paper
Utilitarianism in its most basic form explains that actions are only right or wrong in proportion to
the amount of right or wrong they produce. It lies upon the idea of a highest good or summum
bonum which is its foundation of morality. This theory is actually in opposition to the idea of
egoism, which proposes that a person should go after their own self interest rather than worry about
the expense of others. In fact, this theory argues against any moral or ethical theory that looks at
actions independently of their repercussions. In this paper I will spell out the theory of
Utilitarianism and its premises, and then discuss a possible objection to it, stating that

I found that the part where I see this interfering with the elements most would be in
consequentialism. Consequentialism states that an action s morality can only be determined by
its direct consequences to you and everyone around you. I disagree with this. The best way to
show why is to give an example. Imagine a doctor in the middle of surgery. The patient they
have on the table is bleeding out and the chances to save them are 50 50. Now in the other
operating rooms, there are 3 patients that need immediate transplants to survive. Should the
doctor attempt to save the patient s life or sacrifice one life for the wellbeing of three others? A
strict consequentialist would say that the doctor must save the three other lives rather than just
the one. Take another example, let s say a simple promise. Imagine a friend asked you to make a
promise with them not do something. Later on, you find out that breaking this promise brings
more total pleasure to you and everyone around in comparison to keeping it. Should you break it?
A consequentialist again would say yes. Both of these examples imply that the action with the
most pleasure should be taken but these actions go against moral and ethical standards in our
society making them wrong. Allowing one patients death for three others is morally wrong.
Breaking a promise is also considered morally wrong. So how does one decide what to

The Muralist Movement in Mexico
The Muralist Movement in Mexico
Mural painting is one of the oldest and most important forms of artistic, political and social
expression. Mexican muralists, Diego Rivera, Jose Clemente Orozco, and David Alfaro Siqueiros
revived this form of painting in Mexico and led the way for the Muralist Movement in Mexico.
Their murals were based on the political and social conditions of the times. During the beginning of
the 20th century, Mexico went through a political and social revolution and the government began
to commission a number of huge frescos to celebrate its achievements. The muralist movement
would not only have a great effect on their own country but the rest of the world as well.

, or in this case, the worker, the soldier and the peasant. Other pictures at this location depict

Physics in Bow and Arrow Shooting
When people think of shooting a bow they may think of back in time when the Indians used to
shoot their longbows. When you look at it from that perspective it seems like bows are such a
simple piece of equipment. Unless you ve really sat down and looked at a compound bow you
wouldn t understand that there can be so many parts to make it function properly. For example, the
string moving at such a high rate of speed to launch the arrow, then comes to a complete stop in
just a fraction of a second with very minimal vibration. How does that not tear something up?
There are several key parts to know that is on a compound bow: cam, limbs, string, and riser.
A cam is what makes the difference between a plain recurve and a compound bow. A cam is a
particular object at the top and bottom of a bow that rotates as you pull the string of the bow
back. Now why are cams such a big advancement to that of a recurve? Cams allow bows to shoot
higher feet per second and allow the arrow to have more kinetic energy, thus make the arrow travel
faster and further, and penetrate deeper into the object you are shooting.
With the invention of cams, came the very helpful let off. Unlike recurves, compounds have
specifically shaped cams to allow for let off. This means, when you are drawing back your bow
it is not a constant 60 to 70 pound pull back the whole time, it gives you a break. With a
compound bow set on a 70 pound draw weight, you might only draw 70 pounds back have off your
draw length, then

communities, and leaving 52 inches of rainfall, destroying about 22,000 homes, and displacing
thousands in its wake. The image discussed in this essay depicts a Red Cross relief center in

globalization. Details in this image of Hurricane Harvey illustrate the harmful effect of the
globalizing market in leading developed nations to be more focused on short term economic gain

American culture was built on the idea of progress. Our society has focused on creating new

globality, a world in which our current ideas of national borders are significantly different, much
more fluid. Economics is just one facet of globalization, but unmistakable in the chosen image.

Victorianism in The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Modernism in The Metamorphosis
Victorianism is about how the individual could improve the society. They believed that a good
individual could make the society better as a whole and therefore improve life. Victorians focused
on science and the desire for extremely realistic portrayal of life in both literature and art. Some
aspects of Victorian thinking were retained while others were discarded in a new movement called
Modernism. Modernists focus on the individual but have the view that humans are beings without
free will and that they do not look for guidance within them, but instead are driven by ... Show more

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde showed people that being a good person is the best
thing to do for society and for the individual.
The reason Jekyll is a good example to show the Victorian qualities of science exploration and
the effects the individual has on the world is explained by Masao, In this society of respectables
Dr. Jekyll stands out as the very pink of the proprieties (Chap. 1). Although his studies, like those
of Faust and Frankenstein before him, tend toward the mystic and the transcendental (Ch. 10), he
still manages to maintain a considerable scientific reputation. And yet, despite Jekyll s social role
in fact, because of it it is Jekyll who brings for Mr. Hyde. (Masao 470 480) Masao explains why
Jekyll underwent his transformation and how science heavily influenced his thinking to try this

havoc on the most culturally, technological, and industrialized parts of the world; which caused

Quantitative Arbitrage Trading Strategy Analysis
Many financial instruments have exhibited mean reversion, such as US and global equities [1],
commodities [2], foreign exchange rates [3] as well as volatility indices [19]. Moreover, some
researchers have also found mean reverting process to be very useful in modeling the interest rate
and default risk dynamics [20]. In financial industry, some practitioners even attempt to profit by
constructing mean reverting prices which are usually known as statistical arbitrageor pair trading.
Statistical arbitrage is a more sophisticated trading strategy that evolved out of the simpler pairs
trade strategy [4]. In the pairs trading, two highly correlated stocks are put into pairs and when one
stock outperforms the other, we short this stock and long the other stock. Unlike the pair trading,
Statistical arbitrage usually considers a basket of hundreds or more stocks, long in some and short
in others, in order to construct a mean reversion portfolio.
The pairs/statistical arbitrage trading strategies have gained great popularity with the invention of
exchange traded funds (ETFs), as some ETFs are created to track the underlying indexes/assets.
The mean reverting spreads among commodity ETFs have already been investigated and the
trading strategies have been developed for statistical arbitrage [21]. Moreover, the mean reverting
spread between physical gold price and gold ETFs has also been investigated [22].
Given the dynamics of the underlying portfolio or assets, investors have to

  • 2. Comparing Male and Female Mass Indexes Method: The experiment was conducted with the informed consent of all of the participants. These subjects consisted of 34 males and 30 females all of which were in good health and aged between 18 and 36. Confidentiality was of utmost importance and respected throughout the entire project. If any potential subjects did not wish to participate then that was understood and they did not take part. Another means of safeguarding the privacy of both groups (males and females) was to conduct the measurements at different times. One session was for males only and another for only females. The following measurements were taken body mass (kg), height (m), % body fat, 2nd digit (index finger)(mm), 4th digit (ring finger)(mm), foot (cm), waist (cm), hip (cm), BMI and then the differences between 2nd and 4th digits, waist to hip and height to foot sizes. The body mass was taken using analogue scales, the height using a stadiometer, % body fat using bio electrical impedance analysis monitor (with damp hands), 2nd and 4th digit (on the right hand) and foot (right foot) size using an accurate ruler and finally the hip using a tape measure. After the process had taken place of gathering all the required measurements we then carried out a statistical analysis which included the mean averages, the standard deviation and finally the t test using the primary data we had gathered. The software used was OpenOffice.org Calculator, this software is very similar to that of Microsoft Excel. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Bridges To Success Summer Program I believe the Bridges to Success Summer program is a great opportunity for me and provides me with the chance to do what my parents never got to accomplish. They have always encouraged me to do my best in high school, so that one day I could go on to college and further my education in order to achieve my goals. I am certain that this program will guide me in the right direction and will help me to be successful. One of the biggest challenges in my life that I had to overcome was not having my dad around for the past 4 years. When I was 14 years old my dad was incarcerated. I really looked up to my dad. He was my biggest role model. At a younger age, my brother and I used to fight over who was most like him. During my early teenage years, my dad... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It took things off my mind and I finally did not feel as alone and was not consumed with the thought of my dad anymore. This was a great way to occupy my time. I then began to open up and started meeting a lot of new friends. A few of the wrestlers on the team later became my best friends. I did not only gain friends from wrestling, but my coaches became my roles models. They were such an encouragement and I was able to talk to them about anything. I was no longer sad, school became something I looked forward to each day. My coaches taught me how important it was to make goals for myself and to be the best person I could possibly be. My first two goals were to maintain a GPA above a 3.0 and to win JV states as a freshman. I ended accomplishing both my goals by the end of freshman year and it was the best feeling in the world. The next year I was expected to win 1st place again, but I ended up losing in my final match. This was just another setback, which really discouraged me, but my coaches were there for me every step of the way. • 4. Persuasive Essay On Political Advertising Political ads can be viewed as annoying, excessive, biased, and unnecessary. This opinion is shared among many people within America with many wanting all ads to stop entirely. Now, are these ads truly needed or are they just to make a candidate look good? Certain strategies used in political campaigns can be confusing and frustrating. However, they can also help bring people together to discuss their opinions and beliefs in order to decide who to support. Political ads can encourage people to come together because of a common cause, improving our nation, and who is the best candidatefor President. Political signs and commercials are one tactic that can be misleading. Many people feel that candidates use bandwagons and endorsements to help them look good and promise immediate changes which are either not possible or can take a long time to achieve. This is like with Mondale Ferraro, who made many different types of images to make him look more popular (Document A). However, these images also help people decide who would be betterfor the job based off of looks, beliefs, and other attributes. I would use these to help make myself stand out from the other candidates by putting in true aspects into my campaign so they do not put false hope into what I stand for. This also helps decide what issues the public focuses on the most based on their beliefs. The candidates running for President try to get rid of the issues the public are concerned about to encourage the public to vote for them. Bandwagons use well known and respected groups of people to influence the public to vote for a candidate because they are doing it. This can be done with several methods, like endorsement, glittering generalities, and even using a spoil system to intrigue people into electing them. This is like the Reagan TV ad where he tried to improve his image with the actions he had promised, which spread with the public (Document B). In addition, it helps clarify what people want most out of a candidate for their benefit, as well as their own benefits. I would use bandwagons, because it helps get other people s attention and make myself popular to others. But these methods can help a candidate who already has a lot of public support. This ... • 6. The Performance Of The Professional Sports Entertainment... The Destruction of Competitiveness with the Over Usage of Participatory Awards In a world where athletes get paid the most that they ever have and the workforce is the most competitive, participation awards are hindering the ability for fairness and impartiality to grow and for humans to flourish. Society is becoming a place where everyone is looked at equally, truly eliminating being unique and taking away individualism, fairness and teamwork. By doing this, people with great powers and capabilities in the general populace are being left behind and denied ability to achieve their own personal greatness. Without this chance to strive, they will be left feeling complacent and never be able to flourish their abilities and strengths. The workforce lose a higher level employee, with the middle class never learning the traits taught through competition. These workers will never push themselves and expect to be rewarded solely for showing up to work. The professional sports entertainment market will also have a smaller pool of great athletes to choose from which leads to more teams not performing at a high enough level with cities losing teams and athletes losing jobs. The concept of teamwork will slowly disappear leaving a trail of individualistic yet equal members of society. Competition and fair play are losing ground to the freshly remodeled idea of participation awards, slowly devaluing the need to strive for greatness and creating a society focused on over equality ... Fight The Fees Movement Analysis The various demands mentioned above by the Fight the Fees movement have been supported with multiple arguments that have been explicitly mentioned within their website. The primary, most obvious justification for their demands would be the simple fact that Ontario constitutes the highest tuition rates in all of Canada, as the current framework allows tuition for domestic students to increase approximately three to five percent annually (Canadian Federation of Students, 2016). This argument then leads to the discriminationthis creates towards students of middle low income households that are simply unable to afford such high rates. Racismis another issue that is brought up within this dilemma because it is argued that those who come from racialized or marginalized groups are at greater risk of facing such realities of financial instability. • 10. Different Types of Tears During Shoulder Dislocation Essay With all of the tears, the first type of tear is one where the labrum is torn all of the way off of the bone. This type of tear usually correlates with an injury to the shoulder where the shoulder has subluxated or dislocated. Sometimes, this tear occurs and the individual does not realize that the shoulderhas slid out of the socket. This can make it much worse and cause other types of injuries to the ligaments around the shoulder. The second type of labrum tear is tearing within the actual labrum. This past year, a boy on my brothers hockey team tore his shoulder labrum at the beginning of the hockey season. He was not able to practice, nor play in games during this time. Surgery for his injury was performed in November, just as the hockey season was kicking off. His recovery is expected to take about 6 months because of the severity of the injury. Once swelling began to go down, he began physical therapy. Currently, he s not allowed to lift more than 20 pounds. Physical therapy is going really well and he is already supposed to shorten his expected recovery time. He should be back in for this upcoming season. The idea of under achievement suggests that the systems is at fault because students do not reach their potential under the guidance of that system. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the idea or terminology of under achievement in the context of my specific teaching scenario. I will present my argument by first, introducing literature that has been specifically enlightening towards the subject. This essay will then highlight my personal experiences with this phenomenon in my own class room and how certain experiences have helped me define what under achievement actually is and can help me recognize its features in the future. Lastly, this essay will offer some guidelines in fixing the problems that will be indentified in examining under achievement, and focus on strategies that may be useful in improving this particular area of educationand learning. Defining Under Achievement Under achievement is a difficult idea to grasp in its entirety due to its reliance on forecasted expectations. It is important to realize that educators are not prophets and cannot successfully predict the academic success of students based on past performance. My first example is the answer to the question we answered at the beginning, and I had no idea what to put so I answered with one word, again hoping out of pure luck I would be right. Mirko Bagaric and Penny Dimopoulos argue that the introduction of mandatory pro bono will only encourage the government to continue to decrease it s funding of legal aid services as the government will further shirk the responsibility onto the legal profession. For example, the current Australian budget has proposed yet another large decrease in government funding for 2017 2018, this includes the quarantining of some of the community legal centre funding. Furthermore, it is not fair of the government to place an expectation on the legal to perform legal services for free when there is no similar altruistic expectation placed on professional from other areas, such as: physiotherapists, chiropractors, doctors and psychologists. All the services provided by these other professions for free or at a discount are usually done so because the costs are then subsidized by the government. The designation Prairie is due to the dominant horizontality of the majority of Prairie style buildings which echoes the wide, flat, treeless expanses of the mid Western United States. The most famous proponent of the style, Frank Lloyd Wright, promoted an idea of organic architecture , the primary tenet of which was that a structure should look as if it naturally grew from the site. Wright also felt that a horizontal orientation was a distinctly American design motif, in that the younger country had much more open, undeveloped land than found in most older, urbanized European nations. Hi tech architecture, also known as Structural Expressionism, is a type of Late Modern architectural style that emerged in the 1970s, incorporating elements of hi tech industry and technology into building design. Hi tech architecture appeared as revamped modernism, an extension of those previous ideas helped by even more technological advances. This category serves as a bridge between modernism and post modernism; however, there remain gray areas as to where one category ends and the other begins. In the 1980s, hi tech architecture became more difficult to distinguish from post modern architecture. This along with strict regulatory requirements has sparked the exponential rise of the global PV market. Many high profile drug withdrawals (e.g. Vioxx i.e. rofecoxib from Merck that was recalled in 2004) in the past decade has led to various pharmaceuticals to adopt Good PV Practice guidelines in a more stringent way. These factors are expected to drive the growth of the global PV market. As per a market research report by Transparency Market Research1, the global PV market is expected ... • 25. War Destruction on Combatents in Kurt VonnegutВґs... The effects of war are devastating for those who experience it. The wake of destruction left behind by bloody conflicts can traumatize any onlooker; those who face the fighting firsthand are often permanently affected by the horrors they witness. Frequently, combatants require special treatment for the psychological torment that can follow intense fighting. Kurt Vonneguts Slaughterhouse Five explores the harmful effects of isolation, imprisonment, and oppression through a soldier s perspective. Sections of Vonnegut s novel take place during World War II: the bloodiest war ever fought. The story follows Billy Pilgrim, a young man who is forced to fight overseas despite the rough conditions he will face. Billy joins his regiment as it [is] in the process of being destroyed by Germans (Vonnegut 40), and Vonnegut s description of Billy accentuates his lack of preparation. He is given very little combat training, ill fitting clothes, and is not even supplied with a firearm (Vonnegut 41). From the beginning, Billy is isolated from the other troops in a way because he is not as well prepared as the others. During a scouting mission after the devastating Battle of the Bulge, Billy is separated from his group and left with another scout, Roland Weary. This is when Billy s physical isolation begins, chronologically speaking. Billy and Roland inadvertently separate themselves from their squadron and begin to wander around behind enemy lines. • 26. The Ramayan A Shortened Modern Prose Version Of The Indian... The Ramayana: A Shortened Modern Prose Version of the Indian Epic. R. K. Narayan The Ramayana is an epic poem that many Hindus consider to be scripture. The original version was written in Sanskrit by Valmiki. The Ramayana has been retold many times throughout the years and has been translated in many languages. The English version is based on the version in the Tamil language of South India which was written by Kamban. In 1972, Indian Novelist R.K. Narayan published this version. In this review I will define dharma, connect the story in terms of the Hindu concept of dharma and answer the following questions: what is Rama s dharma? What is Sita dharma? What is Hanuman s dharma? Because Hanuman is non human, does this alter his dharma? What is Ravana dharma? Since he is a demon, he might fulfill his demon dharma by committing evil. The question still remains, Through Ravana actions how does this help prove the existence evil? By the end I will consider the marriage of Rama and Sita and how it was restored through divine intervention. To begin I will define the term dharma. Dharma is considered to be the very foundation of life. It is a moral law combined with spiritual discipline that guides one s life. Dharma means righteousness, morality, spirituality, responsibility, and duty. The author does not specifically use the word dharma in the book. However the idea that each character has a duty or destiny to fulfill is prevalent throughout. Every character in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It lies upon the idea of a highest good or summum bonum which is its foundation of morality. This theory is actually in opposition to the idea of egoism, which proposes that a person should go after their own self interest rather than worry about the expense of others. In fact, this theory argues against any moral or ethical theory that looks at actions independently of their repercussions. Consequentialism states that an action s morality can only be determined by its direct consequences to you and everyone around you. I disagree with this. The best way to show why is to give an example. Imagine a doctor in the middle of surgery. The patient they have on the table is bleeding out and the chances to save them are 50 50. Now in the other operating rooms, there are 3 patients that need immediate transplants to survive. Should the doctor attempt to save the patient s life or sacrifice one life for the wellbeing of three others? A strict consequentialist would say that the doctor must save the three other lives rather than just the one. Take another example, let s say a simple promise. Imagine a friend asked you to make a promise with them not do something. Later on, you find out that breaking this promise brings more total pleasure to you and everyone around in comparison to keeping it. Should you break it? A consequentialist again would say yes. Both of these examples imply that the action with the most pleasure should be taken but these actions go against moral and ethical standards in our society making them wrong. Allowing one patients death for three others is morally wrong. Breaking a promise is also considered morally wrong. So how does one decide what to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Physics in Bow and Arrow Shooting When people think of shooting a bow they may think of back in time when the Indians used to shoot their longbows. When you look at it from that perspective it seems like bows are such a simple piece of equipment. Unless you ve really sat down and looked at a compound bow you wouldn t understand that there can be so many parts to make it function properly. For example, the string moving at such a high rate of speed to launch the arrow, then comes to a complete stop in just a fraction of a second with very minimal vibration. How does that not tear something up? There are several key parts to know that is on a compound bow: cam, limbs, string, and riser. A cam is what makes the difference between a plain recurve and a compound bow. A cam is a particular object at the top and bottom of a bow that rotates as you pull the string of the bow back. Now why are cams such a big advancement to that of a recurve? Cams allow bows to shoot higher feet per second and allow the arrow to have more kinetic energy, thus make the arrow travel faster and further, and penetrate deeper into the object you are shooting. With the invention of cams, came the very helpful let off. Unlike recurves, compounds have specifically shaped cams to allow for let off. This means, when you are drawing back your bow it is not a constant 60 to 70 pound pull back the whole time, it gives you a break. With a compound bow set on a 70 pound draw weight, you might only draw 70 pounds back have off your draw length, then ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Quantitative Arbitrage Trading Strategy Analysis Many financial instruments have exhibited mean reversion, such as US and global equities [1], commodities [2], foreign exchange rates [3] as well as volatility indices [19]. Moreover, some researchers have also found mean reverting process to be very useful in modeling the interest rate and default risk dynamics [20]. In financial industry, some practitioners even attempt to profit by constructing mean reverting prices which are usually known as statistical arbitrageor pair trading. Statistical arbitrage is a more sophisticated trading strategy that evolved out of the simpler pairs trade strategy [4]. In the pairs trading, two highly correlated stocks are put into pairs and when one stock outperforms the other, we short this stock and long the other stock. Unlike the pair trading, Statistical arbitrage usually considers a basket of hundreds or more stocks, long in some and short in others, in order to construct a mean reversion portfolio. The pairs/statistical arbitrage trading strategies have gained great popularity with the invention of exchange traded funds (ETFs), as some ETFs are created to track the underlying indexes/assets. The mean reverting spreads among commodity ETFs have already been investigated and the trading strategies have been developed for statistical arbitrage [21].
