Indian Gaming Benefits
There are many ways Indian Gaming effects local and regional economies. It can be argued that
it has been very beneficial. It can also be argued that it has been a detriment. Since 1988, when
the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was passed, it has been providing a means of income for the
tribes that participate. Indian gaming is beneficial to tribes and surrounding communities because
it creates economic stability for the tribes, provides well paying jobs, and economic benefits for
surrounding communities and the state. Indian gaming has created wealth for some tribes, but for
most tribes it has made them economically stable. Part of the reason for success in Indian gaming
was the route most tribes took. By starting conservatively and using temporary buildings, in some
cases, tribes were able to smartly and carefully begin in the gaming industry (Akee, Spilde, and
Taylor 196). Not all tribes use gaming as their primary source of income, but it is another revenue
source that makes things stable. Some tribes have become very wealthy due to having an advantage
of being located next to large populations. Most tribes do not have this advantage but do well in self
sustainment.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

jobs for that community. Looking further into it we have to see that outside vendors and the
support that a Hotel/Casino needs to run. This adds hundreds of indirect jobs to the community.
Just the economic impact of one casino in one area affects many different industries. Pechanga
recently broke ground on an expansion that will bring 3500 jobs to that region ( Pechanga Resort
Casino Breaks Ground On $285 Million Resort Expansion ). This is significant on the rebounding

Diagnosis Of Benign Scrotal Surgical Specimens
Abstract
Purpose: We recently demonstrated that pathologic analysis of benign scrotal surgical specimens
may be unnecessarily increasing costs of patient care. Adult circumcision specimens may also
routinely be sent for pathological analysis even when penile cancer is not suspected, increasing
costs with little benefit. To assess the utility of foreskinpathology analysis, we evaluated the
outcomes and the costs of this practice in patients where penile cancer was not suspected.
Materials and Methods: All adult patients who underwent circumcision between January 2000 and
August 2013 at a single institution were evaluated by retrospective chart review. Cases of
suspected penile cancer (n=6) were excluded. We identified cases where foreskin specimens were
sent for pathological analysis and reviewed pathology reports. Our Department of Pathology
estimated the cost for evaluation of specimens at $311 per case.
Results: A total of 147 circumcisions were performed in patients with no suspicious findings.
Pathologic analysis was obtained in 69% (101/147) of the cases. Inflammation (58%) was the most
common finding. One unsuspected instance of squamous cell carcinoma (Tis) was identified in a
patient with HIV (1/147=0.7%). The overall cost of pathology analysis in this study was $31,411.
Conclusions: In individuals without predisposing immunodeficiency and where cancer was not
suspected, we found that pathology analysis of circumcision specimens identified no additional

Formal Analysis of the Mona Lisa Essay example
Analysis of the Mona Lisa
Kim Pokladowski
2/20/11
I have always been intrigued with the Mona Lisa, I don t know why but there is something about
her smile and her eyes that captivates me. The realness of the painting and how ordinary the Mona
Lisa is the reason why I can look at this painting with great joy, it doesn t make me think too much,
it doesn t confuse me, the simplicity and the normalcy of this painting is what I enjoy so much.
However, after an analysis you can see that the painting isn t so ordinary.
The Leonardo de Vinci used oils to paint his picture. During the 15th century using oils was very
common. By using oils Leonardo was able to create a real lifelike painting. Since the oils dry
slowly he was probably able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can see that the painting seems to be made up of three triangles. Mona Lisabeing the biggest
then the left top corner is the background and the top right corner, a continuation of the
background. From what we ve read he designed this painting in an upright triangular
composition. However, these two backgrounds seem to not be part of the same landscape. The
left top corner seems more shaded, and darker. Also the winding road I feel might symbolize
troublesomeness, or decisions. Where as, the right top side of the background is a little lighter in
color and the path seems clear and straight. By positioning the Mona Lisa the way Leonardo did
creates balance within the painting. He also did a wonderful job on the symmetry of her face and
of the painting, between the objects in the painting and the color used its self.
You can see that when viewing a painting like this there are many questions that arise in your
mind. Looking at the Mona Lisa I get drawn in and a sense of wonderment comes over me. I start
to imagine the person in the painting and what her smile was really about. A strong, confident
women is what I think she was, and that was brought out beautifully by de Vinci. I also think that
the way he painted the Mona Lisa shows a lot about what and how Leonardo viewed women.
Many say that it was painted for the love of his mother. What do you

Fairfax County School Start Time: Analysis of the Policy To this point, the emphasis of the
paper has been the social issue of sleep deprivation in adolescents and the relationship that school
start times have with the issue. The focus now shifts to the evaluation on school start times and
the associated policies in Fairfax County schools. Demographics of Fairfax County and its
Schools Fairfax County is one of the largest counties in Northern Virginia with a population of
1,111,620 in 2013 ( Fairfax Demographics, 2013, p. 2). Additionally, the Fairfax County Public
School (FCPS) district is the 10th largest school system in the United States. Table 1 provides
salient data on the demographics of the Fairfax County school system. Table 1 Fairfax County
School Demographics Source: ( FCPS Demographics, 2014, p. 1) The current policy for start
time for FCPS high schools is 7:20 am. Given the preceding data presented, a start time this early
makes it extremely unlikely that adolescents will be able to achieve a sufficient amount of sleep
on school days. Fairfax County and the FCPS recently released the results of a youth survey
conducted for the 2013 2014 school year. The sleep results shown in Figure 3 unmistakably show
that the majority of students surveyed are receiving less than the nine and one quarter hours of
recommended sleep per night. Figure 3. Fairfax County Student Sleep Durations 2013, from (

California Budget Process
Introduction
The budget process is the most important aspect of fiscal decision making in Public Administration.
Smith and Lynch (2004), argues that Public budgeting is an activity that many people view from
their own perspectives and, thus, they do not comprehend the full complexity of budgeting (p. 34).
Similar to the contextual definition of complexity in budgeting process, a classic example was the
State of California s budget impasse for the year 2010 2011. This essay examines and analyses the
concerns that lead to passing a late budget in the State of California. It further goes into details
regarding the reasons, resolutions, and consequences faced due to the budget Impasse.

As mentioned by Thompson (2010), in the Associated Press, Lawmakers bridged a $19 billion
shortfall, more than 20 percent of the $87.5 billion general fund spending plan . This shows that
the state was heading towards a financial crisis and more deficit creation. Moreover, Thompson
(2010), in the Associated Press also points out that It includes no tax or fee increases but uses a
combination of cuts, funding shifts, delayed corporate tax breaks and assumptions about money the
state hopes to receive . The budget gave rise to other dependent costs such as delayed tax refunds. It
was uncertain that the State will receive the required funds from the federal government to ensure
that the important programs will function the way it used to be until the funds are received.
One of the important drawbacks of the budget was the cuts and delays in education funding. As
published in the article California lawmakers pass long overdue budget (2010), by Fox News
Under the deal, nearly $2 billion in payments to K 12 schools and California s community colleges
would be delayed until the next fiscal year . This was one of the consequences of the late deficit
budget, which lawmakers agreed upon. Stopping payments to educational institutions was not seen
as a positive feature of the budget. The delay in funding kept the educational programs on hold,
which affected many educational

The Innovators Dna
The Innovators DNA
Innovation usually discusses the altering or generating more effective developments, products and
ideas, and can rise the possibility of a business get to the top. Businesses that innovate produce more
effective work methods and have better output and performance. Innovation can be a promoter for
the progression and success of your business, and help you adjust and grow in the marketplace.
Being innovative does not mean inventing; innovation can mean changing your business model and
adapting to changes in your environment to deliver better products or services. Successful
innovation should be an in built part of your business strategy, where you create a culture of
innovation and lead the way in innovative thinking and creative problem solving.
To enhance your ability to innovate and act creatively, use the same five discovery skills that
compose the DNA of disruptive innovators : associating, questioning, observing, networking and
experimenting. Associating that is, connecting ideas from disparate arenas is the most important;
the other four skills trigger associational thinking and support creativity, which lead to innovative
business ideas. Every innovator employs a different blend of these skills:
Innovators combine elements of various ideas and practices that other people don t put together.
They draw connections that cross boundaries, linking concepts from one discipline or culture with
those from another. Albert Einstein called this

Nile River Impact Of Egypt
The Nile River helped Egypt economically, socially, and religiously, and as a result Egypt was
named the Gift of the Nile because of the given history of these great waters. The Nile has
continued for centuries to provide whats necessary for the people of Egypt and their daily lives.
The Nile River is truly a blessing to these people and Egyptwould not be the same without it.
Without the Nile, Egypt would have remained a hot desert. The people would have not been able to
survive because there was no way of getting food, water, and other basic needs to survive. The Nile
River was considered the Gift of the Nile because of the many ways the river provided for the land.
One of these ways is how the Nile River helped Egypt... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1/3 of Egypt are farmers and all of these farmers in Egypt were very dependent on the Nile River.
Egypt s farmers were depending on the river to flood the area, so that there would be fertile
lands. With fertile lands, the farmers were able to plant crops, that wouldn t die and be healthy.
The main crops that were planted in Egypt were cotton, corn, wheat, barley, rice, sugar cane,
sorghum, fruits, vegetables, and dates. Every year, when the Nile River flooded, the soil was
filled with nutrients for all these crops to grow. One thing that the Nile River really helped with,
was that the river provided so many jobs to many people living in Egypt. Without the Nile River,
there would be many unemployed, which means many that were impecunious. Having so many
people with little money meant that for those who did work, they wouldn t get as much money
because a lot of the people wouldn t be able to afford anything.
Some of these jobs included farmers, because of the flooding so the farmers could plant crops.
Then there were fishermen, who could fish from the Nile River to sell out to the people which
was another way of having food. Without the river, there could be no fishermen to go fishing as
the river. Another important job were the sailors, which would move the boats up and down the
river. Obviously, without the river there could be no sailors. For the sailors to do their job, there
had to be ship builders that would

Imagery In The Raven
The Poem, The Raven, by Edgar Allen Poe, is a timeless, and one of the most read, poems in
history. It gives the readers a sense of fear, sadness, and excitement all at the same time. One of
the ways that Poe stimulates the readers emotions is how he uses and symbolizes the Raven in the
story. Throughout history, birds have symbolized hope, light, and freedom. Birds such as an
Eagle, who symbolizes freedom and pride, or a dove that represents peace and love, show how
birds bring a sense of good to a story. Although, I think the Ravenbrings a sense of sorrow, or
loneliness to the story.
In the Raven it states,
But the Raven still beguiling my sad fancy into smiling

In the beginning of the story, the narrator speaks of his lost love, Lenore, and says how he is
distraught over her passing. Succeeding this moment of sorrow, he hears a rapping on his
chamber door ( Poe 4) which causes him to be curious who would be knocking at his chamber
door at such an hour. He is filled with both hope, for the return of his lost Lenore, and terror for
whatever he could dream was at his door. Then in came the raven and perched himself atop his
chamber door on top of a statue of the Greek goddess Athena, who is the goddess of wisdom. For
the symbolism of the raven, the narrator sees the raven as grim, ghastly, and ominous, but gives
a new sense of curiosity to the narrator. The symbolism of a raven is the engaging in mystical and
magical arts and gaining and receiving secret knowledge. Knowing this, it shows how the
narrator would be both frightened, and fascinated at the presence of a mystical bird on his
chamber door. Also the statue of Athena symbolizes the wisdom of the raven to perch on top of it
and also adds to the mysterious side of the creature. But there could also be other reasons why the
raven could seem scary and

Wonder Sociological Concepts
Wonder One of my favorite movies is Wonder by R.J. Palacio. Wonder is based off of the
inspiration to never judge anyone by their appearance, to stand up for yourself and to not give
into bullying. The main character, Auggie Pullman, is a smart 10 year old boy with a facial
deformity, who experiences the first time going to a public school. The first important value in
Wonder is to never judge anyone by their appearance. Auggie s schedule in the past 10 years,
consisted of being homeschooled by his mom, Isabel. Auggie conquered the survival of a car
accident, which made Auggie encounter numerous surgeries to correct his face. His surgeries
concluded the way he looked. His left eye tugs downward as if a teardrop were falling from it; his...

Bullying often leaves kids feeling helpless, vulnerable, and confused. Consequently, when kids
are bullies they are often shocked by bullying that they are not sure what to do (Gordon, n.d.).
Society, unfortunately, has become more focused on the bullies rather than the victims. Judging
someone by their looks is NOT okay. How can you judge someone when you do not even know
the person? It is from my personal experience, that people are nicer to the rich or middle class
whereas others frown upon poor people. Many people make the generalization that poor people
take advantage of the state benefits that are offered, which is not true. Beauty is not in the face;
beauty is a light in the heart. There is not a single profile of a young person involved in bullying.
Youth who bully can be either will connected socially and may be bullied by others as well.
Similarly, those who are bullied sometimes bully others. Solutions to bullying are not simple.
Bullying Prevention approaches that show the most promise confront the problem from many
angles (Government, n.d.). Take the time to get to know someone before you judge or bully
them. Every single person is subject to life, not suicide. Each of us are special in our own ways to

Manipulation In The Count Of Monte Cristo

manipulation is easily able to hurt someone, but also benefit another. In this case, Edmond DantГЁs

carefully schemed by three of his false friends, Dantes was thrown into prison and placed under a

The Banking Concept of Education and The Achievement of Desire
Education is a topic that can be explored in many ways. Education is looked at in depth by both
Richard Rodriguez in his essay, The Achievement of Desire , and by Paulo Freire in his essay, The
Banking Concept of Education. After reading both essays, one can make some assumptions about
different methods of education and exactly by which method Rodriguez was taught. The types of
relationships Rodriguez had with his teachers, family and in life were affected by specific styles
of education. Based on Freire s essay, The Banking Concept of Education , there are two types of
education styles. We will use these educational styles to look at how they affected... Show more

The idea that information is deposited from a teacher into a student fits the majority of
Rodriguez s educational experiences. As a young child, Rodriguez feels that books were going
to make [him] educated (Rodriguez 578). He never questioned what he was told by his teachers
or what he read in any book. He didn t develop ideas of his own or any critical thinking skills.
Rodriguez says that he was a great mimic; a collector of thoughts, not a thinker; the very last
person in class who ever feels obliged to have an opinion of his own (Rodriguez 581). This type of
education helps us to understand the relationships Rodriguez had with his mentor Richard Hoggart,
as well as his school teachers and parents.
Rodriguez initially uses Hoggart s book to categorize and describe his own experience as a
student. Once he reads Hoggart s work he finally feels that he has identified himself. He
recognizes the separation of home and school and how it is necessary to have this separation to
become the type of student he desires, an elite student. Separation from his family and culture is
necessary because Rodriguez sees the two as separate worlds. He must be removed from his
original culture and family life to achieve the scholarly elite status. He had to devote himself to his
studies, which leaves him no time for a family. After Rodriguez claims himself a to be an elite
student, he justifies the steps he took in

Importance to Be on Time in the Military Essay example
It is important to be on time, both in the Army and in the civilian sector, for multiple reasons.
Among these reasons, the ones that stand out to me the most are unprofessionalism, being fired,
receiving adverse disciplinary actions, and failing your co workers/comrades. Being late or
tardy to work can cause not only yourself but everyone at your place of employment problems.
When being late or tardy, you are showing that you are not a professional. It can also be assumed

Identifying Human Hair and Animal Fair by Laser Diffraction
1. Introduction:
1.1 Overview
The ability to identify an animal by examining its fur is a useful one for taxonomists and
biologists. The hair of prey is often not digested by a predator, and so can be found in the
predators scat and measured to ascertain its diet (Anwar et al., 2011). An electron microscope can
be used to obtain a lot of data from hair, including its width and the shape and texture of its
surface, however electron microscopes are expensive and time consuming to operate (Sessions et
al., 2009). Lasers are much cheaper and can be used to easily measure the width of narrow objects
by measuring the interference pattern created when laser light is diffracted around the object. As a
result, laser diffraction may be a more preferable method for identifying hairs based on their width.
This experiment hopes to show that laser diffraction is an accurate enough method for obtaining the
width of narrow objects, such as animal and human hairs, to allow comparison between them.
1.2 Wave interactions
1.2.1 Diffraction:
Diffraction is a physical phenomenon that occurs when waves encounter an obstacle or gap
between obstacles. Depending on the wavelength of the wave and the size of the obstacle or gap
waves bend and spread out. Waves tend to diffract more around objects or gaps of a similar size
to their wavelength. How a wave will diffract when it meets an object can be modelled using
Huygen s construction. Huygen s construction is based on Huygen s principle of light

It is within reach. Perhaps you have been on it since you were born, and did not know. Perhaps it

The film the Big Short, directed by Adam McKay is about the financial/housing crisis of 2008. The
film explains how the history of the housing market, how the crisis began, and introduced all of the
people and companies involved. The most important aspect of the movie was that the crisis was
foreseen, but nothing was done to prevent it. The three main characters are Michael Burry, Jared
Vennett, and Mark Baum. Burry was the first to recognize the faulty practices of the housing
market, and bet against the market. His actions caught the attention of Vennett and Baum, which led
them to investigate the housing market, and bet against it as well.
Housing/Financial Crisis of 2008
During the housing/financial crisis of 2008, I was in the 10th grade. My parents did not have bank
accounts or owned a home, and I did not watch the news, therefore I did not anything about the
crisis. Prior to watching the film, I had no clue it occurred. All of the information in the film was
new knowledge. A few terms that were new to me were subprime mortgage, collateralized debt
obligation (CDO), adjustable rates and credit default swap.
A subprime mortgage is a loan that is offered to people who are not necessarily qualified for a
loan, which makes them risky mortgages. Since the lenders are taking on this risk, the interest
rates are extremely high to somewhat make up for the risk. A CDO is various pieces of assets that
are put together and sold to investors. Assets that are included

The Themes Of Empathy
Human beings are kind and caring in nature. They exude a sense of compassion towards each other.
This is called empathy. Humans care for one another and are mostly understanding. However, this
not always the case. Sometimes due to adolescence or pure cynicism. This lack of empathy can
cause challenges in social relations, rendering empathy of utmost importance. Hence, the
characterization of empathy is prevalent in multiple works, including text3 and 4. Text 3, a comic
panel, exhibits the lack of empathy in a simpler manner. It shows the lack of empathy through a
paranoid cynicist, a boy afraid of swimming who distrusts his lifeguard. It is later revealed that the
lifeguard is also a cynicist, complaining about how she s doing the job just to pay for university.
Therefore, this text shows the audiencehow the lack of empathy from both ends yielded a lack of
understanding. On the other hand, text 4, a poem, displays the significance of empathy in a
different and more complex fashion. It reveals... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In text 3, the lack of empathy and cynicism, drove the kid into thinking that the lifeguard is out

the lifeguard and does not understand how she s only here to help him. However, the bigger
failure in this situations the lifeguard, Being the older person, she should have comforted him
when he said the water is cold. Even when he started crying for his mother she did not do
anything but complain about her job. This shows that she s selfish and very unempathetic.
However, in text 4, empathy is examined in a very different angle. The narrator is very
empathetic. He was not very optimistic but was realistic. He felt for people who loved him and
hated him. In the last stanza he has an empathetic tone as he gives his advice to the audience. To
convey the theme, both authors, used tone and mood to showcase the

The Cultural Conflicts Existing Within The Discipline Of...
Question # 1: Leaving aside assignment 6 (Gibson/Key) what reading(s) did you find most
compelling this week, and why?
This week, singling out one compelling piece was hard, as I now see how all the pieces are
linked. For example, I liked how Perestroika informs us of the trends existing within the discipline
of political science, particularly the overrated focus on methods and techniques in political
inquiry. I also liked how Perestroika highlights the cultural conflicts existing within the discipline,
which is demonstrated by the behavior of APSR and various administrations and departments of
the discipline. Perestroika dictates that the discipline needs to resolve its existing
epistemological differences through tolerance and increase the understanding of these
differences. Gregory Bateson s proposal for innovative thinking shows us new ways of dealing
with knowledge and generating ideas. He speaks of what he calls the ecology of mind that is the
aggregates of ideas. Bateson stipulates that the world we see is the world we perceive not
necessarily because it exists, but because we edit the reality we see. This idea speaks to the
scientific mode of inquiry, as Perestroika puts it: causality vs. meaning, objective vs. subjective, and
certainty vs. skepticism. Bates suggests that the scientific research must be interactive and inclusive
of the various methods of inquiry. While Bent Flyvbjerg starts with the question of whether theory

What Role Should Management Have Within A Business...
What role should management have within a business regarding social responsibility? Explain.
According to Friedman, a manager s only responsibility is to the shareholders, and not society as
a whole (Jennings, 111). We all agree that a manager s primary responsibility is to the company
and the shareholders. We feel that the manager s role is to act as an agent to conduct business in
congruence with the goals set by the shareholders and laws of society, effectively making profit for
the company.
What are the different social responsibilities of a business? Can a business abide by all social
responsibilities at the same time? Explain.
Our consensus on the social responsibilities of a business include responsibilities to the
environment, the community, customers, shareholders, and employees. Such responsibilities
would include, creating new wealth, and new jobs according to Michael Novak. (Jennings) We
all felt that although it may be possible for a business to abide by all of these responsibilities at
the same time, it is highly unlikely due to conflicts between the social responsibilities. For
example, in order to make profit and charge their customers less, the business may not always be
able to ensure perfect performance in regards to environmental responsibility.

We all had similar definitions for sustainability, but the best description is that sustainability is the
management and coordination of environmental, social and financial demands

The Electronic Health Record ( Ehr ) System
The electronic health record (EHR) System is a database that contains all the details of patient s
medical status and has been designed to facilitate rapid access to such information when
necessary (Hayrian, Sarnto Nykanen, 2008). This database is advantageous for both medical
practitioners and patients as it facilitates an improvement in the level of care provided by health
workers across all departments, and has become a fundamental resource for the healthcare sector
(Scott,2007). Based on the definition declared by the health information management systems
society (HIMSS), an EHR is a detailed digital record of the medical statuses of patients based on
at least one healthcare visit or treatment program. These records provide vital information on each
patient s personal details, health concerns, progress reports, medicine administrated and
prescribed, vital signs, previous medical histories, immunization statuses, lab test reports and
radiology results. The database also assist in scheduling in the work of clinical practitioners as the
EHR is capable of presenting a comprehensive record of all treatment received by a patient across
a diverse range of medical fields and supports the use of evidence based decision making methods,
quality management and the effective evaluation of the patient outcome. In a clinical setting, the
application of an EHR system will depend on a number of technical, behavioral and management
based factors. It is important to a health

The city of Jerusalem, located in the country of Israel, is considered to be one of the holiest cities

Jerusalem such a holy land is because of its significance to three religions: Christianity, Judaism,

that has endured countless wars, bloodshed, and controversy. The city has been ruled by infamous
leaders and praised individuals, it is a city with a very rich history, and its history allows one to
understand the vital role it plays in the Palestine Israelconflict. Abraham, the father of Judaism, is
the root of Jerusalem s holiness. It is said that the Lord appeared to Abraham and said that a land

God spoke to Abraham and set him through a series of trials in which Abraham proved time
after time. His loyalty to the lord never faltered, and thus, Judaism was born ( Abraham ). Jews
revere this man as the first person to teach the idea of monotheism, and it is Abraham as well,
who is deeply rooted with the beginnings of Islam ( Abraham ). The Jewish king David captured
the city of Jerusalem from the Jebusites about 1,000 years before the birth of Christ ( History of

Jerusalem By Saladin
The Capture of Jerusalem by Saladin A Crusade is military excursions made by Western European
Christians during the late eleventh century through the late thirteenth century. Crusades offered
peasants an escape from the brutal Feudal System, because peasants who took up the cross were
freed from feudal obligations. Pope Urban II sought to unite the European Christians, to increase
personal power, to counter the rising power of Seljuk Turks, and to provide pilgrimage to the Holy
Land. Peter the Hermit, instigator of the Crusades, spread Crusade fever preaching all over France
which, attracted outcasts, criminals, beggars, and thieves. Additionally, the nobles wanted to

with the crusaders. However, a series of provocations by the Crusaders broke the truce by attacking
trade caravans under the protection of the treaty. This enraged Saladin and triggered the invasion of
the Kingdom of Jerusalem. Although the Crusader army was similar in size to Saladin s army,
Saladin had various advantages because he knew the climate and terrain, used better tactics, and
was militarily organized. On the other hand, The Crusades were divided and the King was easily
persuaded by bad counsel. In addition, The Crusaders were too weak to fight due to the
unfamiliar conditions such as the weather (too hot), long distance journeys, lack of water, and
were also saddened by the capture of the True Cross, the King, and Reynald of Chatillon. The
capture of Jerusalem is historically important because it led to the end of first kingdom of the

Gun Control In The Second Amendment
Gun control has, over the years, become a hot topic for debate. For both sides, there are many
reasons to be for or against the banning of certain guns. Even throughout our country s political
history, presidents and politicians have tried to ban or even merely control the amount or type of
guns available to the public. Two articles, Treasure the Second Amendment, But Ban Assault
Rifles by Judith Miller and A Ban on Assault Rifles Would Not Reduce Crime by NoС‘l Merino,
address both sides of this emotionally charged issue. Both arguments hold a strong grasp on the
issue and show their opinions in a respectful yet moving manner that gives a good foundation to
leave their audiences room to have their own thought on the subject. While both hold their own in
their respective articles, Merino gives a more factual and detached argument that shows well
rounded thought and an ability to see reprimands and consequences for the ban on assault rifles.
On the other hand, Miller gives insight into the emotional impact that the ownership of assault
rifles as a common household item gives to the fear ridden citizen. While neither article will be an
end all be all for this issue, they both shed a light on how the opposing sides view guns and the
potential outcomes of either the destruction of the assault rifleindustry or allowing the industry to
its own will. Whether or not the people read these articles, gun control will be a hot button issue

The Future of Management
Abstract
Management development strategies of many organizations seemed to converge in the nineties. We
thought the world would stay on a standstill when the millennium loomed. The new word on the
street was Y2K. So what are the concerns for the current state of management development, and
what we expect for the future to hold? This paper will tackle such issue.
The Future of Management
Companies are geared into increase in efficiency and productivity, better choice of goods, more
competitive prices, faster execution and better resource allocation. What was true then, will still
hold true in the future, except it just may double up. Obviously, ideas like these contributed to the
call for far better business management. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Customers are no longer afraid of the World Wide Web. They are actually what you call Internet
savvy. Companies, management and leaders need to realize that if they want to stay competitive in
today s hard business, they need to enhance their business knowledge of Information Technology.
More and more technological innovations are sprouting. If a company stays within its boundary of
relic technology, it will not survive. The same goes for the managements and leaders of any
organization. The need to shed the old ways of management is a must. For companies to keep
employees, the need to embrace effective leadership and good management style. The
organizational culture needs to be value driven, empowering employees to have the entrepreneurial
spirit. Line managers, top managers and executives need to be able to manage change in a
continuous learning environment while creating and maintaining the appropriate working culture.

Cartesian Coordinate Equations
As the name suggests, cylindrical coordinates are 3 dimensional and involve polar coordinates.
It combines the 3 dimensional Cartesian coordinate system (x, y, z) with the polar coordinate
system (r, Оё). The r stands for radius while the Оё stands for theta (the angle usually
represented in radians). The x and y are replaced with the polar coordinate system while z stays
the same. The coordinates are shown in this manner: (r, Оё, z). Graphing cylindrical coordinates
is easy as long as you know how to graph in polar coordinates and in the 3D Cartesian system. First
you look at only the xy planes to locate (r, Оё). Start at the positive x axis and go in a
counterclockwise direction however many radians or degrees are stated. Then use r to know how
far from the pole, center, to go. If r is a negative number, then it is in the opposite side of theta (so
Оё=бґЁ/4 becomes Оё=5бґЁ/4) and r away from the pole. The conversion from (x, y, z) to (r, Оё,
z) only requires the polar coordinate to Cartesian coordinate equations. Therefore the following
equations are used: cos Оё=x/r, sin Оё=y/r, tan Оё=y/x, r2=x2+y2, and z=z (Zill,... Show more

Anytime there is a circle on the xy plane, it is stated with the radius of the circle, for instance
r≤4 would be a solid circle with radius 4 since the radius is anywhere within the distance of 4

xy plane and a possible domain for z (either going on for infinity or specify an interval such as
0≤z≤5 where z is only in the interval from 0 to 5). A cone is not much different from a
cylinder, but in a cone the radius and z are either directly or inversely proportional, so as z
changes, the radius changes with it. An equation for a cylinder then could be written as r≤4,
z=r. This states that the solid circle on the xy plane is the biggest when z=4 and shrinks down to 0

Persuasive Essay On Women s Hockey
If we allow the sport to go on without helmets then eventually we will have an NFL situation on
our hands where we are trying to unwind years worth of denial and neglect while grown women
suffer the effects of head injury (Cochran). Many compare the friendly game of women s lacrosse
to the brutal, physical sport of football, but that should not be the case. This is why women must
have more protection when playing lacrosse. Checking, concussions, and helmets are all major
reasons to supply this gear. Before one can deem women s lacrosse as dangerous, they must
understand the overall concept of the game. The rules of women s lacrosse are actually quite
simple. There are twelve players on the field at all times including the goalkeeper during the sixty

The rules on checking are quite easy to understand, but they are in great depth. Field players may

dislodging it from an opponent s crosse with a check. A check is a controlled tap with a crosse
on an opponent s crosse in an attempt to knock the ball free. The player must be one step in front
of her opponent in order to check. No player may reach across an opponent s body to check the

ball in her crosse by cradling so close to her body or face so as to make a legal, safe check
impossible for the opponent. All legal checks must be directed away from a seven inch sphere or

Who Is To Blame In The Cruel God Of Genesis
The Cruel God of Genesis
This essay will propose and support the thesis that God carries the blame for the expulsion of man
from the Garden of Eden and resulting downfall of mankind.
Genesis has always been the cause of heated discussions. The work itself is not all that confusing,
but rather the symbolism buried deep within the text is. The opinions of the reader often have a
substantial influence on the reader s interpretation of the text. Because the scripture has played such
an important role in the theological beliefs of so many Christians, extremely different
interpretations of the text have the potential to create distance between even the closest of friends

Gave usually implies the transfer of possession from one person to another. In all actuality, God was
merely teasing Adam and Eve with the idea of eternal paradise. God knew of the inevitable
original sin and even still he gave Adam and Eve a taste of paradise. If indeed God loved them
as much as he supposedly did, wouldn t he have saved them the torment of having to surrender a
true heaven on earth because they made one little mistake? God knew that by giving man free
will he would also be giving them the opportunity to lose everything that they held dear to them.
Also, if the will bestowed on Adam were so free, why would he have to be subject to the
consequences of his actions? In all actuality, Adam and Eve did have free will; just as long as
they didn t think for themselves and only did what God told them to do. In essence, it is very
much like getting something for free, but still having to pay the tax. In other words, God dropped
the theoretical ball when he came up with his not so free will. The final question that remains is
why? Why did God bring to an end his own creations eternal happiness?
When given just the information presented in Genesis 1 3, the motives behind God s cruel plot are
not quite so obvious. But when consideration is taken for the fact that the entire Bible is, for all
logical reasons, God s plan set in plain ordinary words. All things must come to an end, so the
saying goes. Even the world as we know it will come to an end.

Just War and Pacifism Essay
The question Can war be justified? plagued mankind since the first war. The Just War Theory
holds that war can be just. The theory has evolved for thousands of years and modern theorists,
such as Michael Walzer, author of Just and Unjust Wars, puts forth criteria for a just war, such as
jus ad bellum and jus in bello. Jus ad bellum includes reasons for going to war, and jus in bello deals
with the people who wage war. The criteriain jus ad bellum include; just cause, declaration by a
proper authority, right intention, a reasonable chance of success, the end proportional to the means,
and war as a last resort. Jus in bello includes keeping innocents outside the field of war, and limiting
the amount of force used. Just War Theorists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Locke s State of nature the government s primary objective is to protect individuals. For
example, if one was in a state of nature and a gang of savages attacked him or her, he or she
would do anything necessary to defend themselves. They would then form a group with a common
objective of protection. With life now insured, the group can pursue liberty, happiness and estate.
Just War Theorists claim the governments of today are essentially the same, only on a larger scale.
Walzer and other Just War Theorists hold that self defense justifies pre emptive strikes. If an
outside force is obviously endangering a state, it is then justifiable to stop the attack before it
happens. Pre emptive strikes can prevent a future war that has worse effects. Walzer has what
he calls a general formula for a just pre emptive strike, States may use military force in the face
of threats of war, wherever the failure to do so would seriously risk their territorial integrity and
political independence (87). Walzer uses an example to justify his general formula of a
justifiable pre emptive strike. He claims that the Six Day War in 1967 was indeed a just pre
emptive attack on Egypt by Israel. Israel was under real threat because Egyptian President Nasser
massed an army and was positioning for attack, while simultaneously closing the Straits of Tiran to
Israel, and publicizing his goal to destroy Israel. Israel went

The prophet Isaiah lived in the Southern Kingdom of Judah in the 3rd century B.C. He had a

the leaders about whether or not they should take on allies all indicated the downfall of the nation

Most references to Zion take place in the books of Psalms, Lamentation and Isaiah. Its first
appearance is in 2 Sam 5:6 as the stronghold of Zion . G.A. Barois points out that it need not be

A New Generation Of Workers
A new generation of workers are in the midst of taking over the workforce: Generation Y, also
known as the Millennials. Baby boomers are ending their employment life cycle and
transitioning into retirement, leaving Millennials as the soon to be dominant generation in the
workforce. By 2020, more than 46% of labour will be provided by these millennials. (Weber,
2016) As this transition begins, a new trend within the workforce has also begun. Modern
workers are no longer spending their entire career with one employer. In fact, according to data
from the Bureau of Labour Statistics, the average worker today only stays at each of his or her
jobs for 4.4 years. However, the expected tenure of the workforce s youngest employees is about
half of that. Ninety one percent of Millennials (born between 1977 1997) expect to stay in a job
for less than three years, meaning they would have 15 to 20 jobs over the course of their
working lives. (Meister, 2012) With career development and work life balance on the forefront
of the millennial mind, gone is the era of employers using base salary in order to compete for the
worker talent pool. They now have to consider the total compensation package, which includes all
forms of money, benefits, services, and other perks eligible to the employee when competing with
other firms, as modern employees have begun to place just as strong of an importance on benefits
as they do salary. The various benefit packages offered by employers play a

memorialize either party, designers must consider many aspects. Such as: what is the purpose of
the monument? What does it symbolise and mean? What are the costs, money wise, but also
physically? What is the monument going to destroy or remove? What will every group of people
think about the monument? These are questions which must be asked before the construction
process proceeds. Certain monuments bring positivity to the nation by bringing to... Show more

This question outsets the others for many factors, such as, the ability of a group to gain the
power to overthrow the process can stunt the growth of a certain monument or memorial being
built. On the other hand, if the group creating the memorial becomes strong enough, they can
push through and get their ideas passed quicker and more luckily. Within source C, (Waiting for
Crazy Horse), the author exemplifies that, I have to admit: Mount Rushmore bothers me. It was
bad enough that white men drove the Sioux from hills they still hold sacred; did they have to
carve faces all over them too? It s easy to feel affection for Mount Rushmore s strange grandeur,
but only if you forget where it is and how it got there. To me, it s too close to graffiti. While the
author creates a compelling article, the main idea, is that the project of mount rushmore was
created on land which is sacred to a culture, and now it is seen as one of the most revered
landmarks in America. The hypocrisy within the Rushmore project, is the mountain shows a nation
which is founded on equality, fairness, peace, and love. However, the mountain itself was created
by defacing the land of the native people, and destroying their culture within the black

Narrative Essay On Water Polo
Water Polo is not an easy sport. And honestly, I kind of randomly picked the sport. When I first
started I barely knew what Water Polo even was, I had nothing to compair it to and no
expectations. I started to play Water polo in my Freshmen year, not knowing what I was jumping
into; I didn t know what swim sets were, I could barely swim, and I was very out of shape. But I
also meet some really amazing people, they were the main reason I stayed in the sport.
I became friends with a fellow Freshmen on my team, she had being playing club Water polo for a
long time before joining the Southridge Water polo team. She really helped me in my performance
in games; she worked with me on my shooting, leg work, and just the basics in general. But she
wasn t the only friend I made on the team; I got to know some Seniors who were really nice. One
of them even gave me a crown that said Varsity Water Polo 2016 . When she gave it to me, I
asked, Is this one of those Burger King crowns? and she replied, No! I got it .. from the crown
store! Nevertheless, that is still one of my favorite memories. It was just so random that I loved
it, and still remember it to this day. Another Senior was really tall and really nice, she always
asked me how I was doing, and was always ready to give me hand. At the end of the season it
was really sad to see them have to go, I didn t see them at school very much, so I really only saw
them at practice, but I won t forget them anytime soon.
I definitely wasn t the best player on the team, and I m still not, but I did have some shining
moments. Like the the first time I made a goal. Now that I think about it, I think the only reason
I was able to get that goal was because. I was the only one on the other side of the pool, so when

Sex, Lies, And Conversation Deborah Tannen
In the essay Sex, Lies, and Conversation Deborah Tannen focuses on the differences and lack of
communication between men and women though observations. She came to the conclusion that
men were not lacking in their listening, but they were however listening in a different way than the
women did. On the other hand, men aren t the only people that have terrible communicationskills. In
many ways, these differences between the two genders can cause major conflict when not
understood by the opposite side. A few examples of lack of communication may be when women
don t decide where they would like to eat, men who walk away from an argument rather than
talking it out, and their decision making processes. The stereotypical mask that covers the female
genderis that when asked where they would like to eat, they reply with, I don t care, wherever you
d like to go. Instead of bluntly telling their significant other an actual response. The indirect
message often can lead to frustration and/or annoyance for the other person. This response can
mean a number of things. For one, the woman may not wantto come off as too picky or even they
are giving lean way for what you might be interested in, too. However, when suggesting where he
might want to go, the woman often says she doesn t want to go there simply because she is
shortening the options without bluntly saying where they want to go. Woman often want the men
to think that they care where they would like to go also just so they

Reaction Temperature Lab
Determining the Effect of Temperature on a Chemical Reaction In the experiment, my partner and
I will be conducting small tests multiple times to determine what effect temperature of a solution
can have of the speed of a reaction. Heating up sodium thiosulphate in a water bath will alter the
temperature of the solution. The sodium thiosulphate will then be added to room temperature

have also decided to conduct each experiment 3 times and find the average of the three different
times per temperature. Aim: To investigate how the temperature of a solution affects... Show more

Should Bob Marley Have A Statue
I think Bob Marley should have a statue dedicated to his honor. I think this for three main
reasons. The first is the fact that he won the Order of Merit award. This is important for many
reasons the first is the fact that it is the fourth highest honor awarded by the nation of Jamaica. The
second reason this is so important is because it can only be given to two people a year. The final
reason this is so important is because this award can only be held by 15 people. The second reason
he deserves a statue is because he was so dedicated to his religion. Bob Marley was a Rastafarian
and as a Rasta he believed godtold everybody to always keep there body whole and he was so
devout to his religion when he was diagnosed with melanoma in his foot

Practical Experience In India when I was doing Bachelors my friends were playing a cricket
betting on the internet and were earning a lot, so I talked to my friend and ask him how to play.
He told me and I was eager to play the cricket betting. After few days there was a cricket match
between India and Pakistan I decided to bet against India. At that time it was like if India wins
you will get double money and for Pakistan you will get four times the money you invest. I was
having $1000, so I thought to invest $100 i.e. I was thinking to be risk aversion rather than risk

What Is The Dystopia In Watchmen
In this paper I argue that Alan Moore s Watchmen uses its dystopia to critique the selfish nature of
humanity that abandons morals to achieve one s goals and a society that trusts superheroes without
legal and moral authority to oversee their power. By depicting each superhero s violent actions and
their moral decisions, it criticizes the consequentialist s argument that the end justifies the means .
Watchmenfeatures superheroes that are normal humans who don t possess super powers except Dr.
Manhattan and struggling for their moral standings from their past. After Adrian Veidt destroys the
half of New York, he asks, I did the right thing, didn t I? . Although other characters do not directly

Among the superheroes, Rorschach and Adrian Veidt act on consequentialism. To bring justice,
Rorschach brutally punishes criminals. Breaking fingers is a common method that Rorschach
uses on criminals and he wrongly uses violence on Moloch to investigate the case of the murder
of the Comedian. Similar to Rorschach, Adrian Veidt s decision to blow up the half of New York
is to achieve the peace between the US and the Soviet Union. Watchmen s dystopia infers whether
sacrificing is necessary to form a peaceful society. It asks how much sacrifice is morally
acceptable to achieve peace and the each masked heroes have different opinions on the issue.
Watchmen s dystopia not only criticizes anarchy like structure that lacks the rule of law, but also it
criticizes the authority figure of the society. By showing the actions of the watchmen who acts as
the guardians of America, it dismisses the idea of existence of morally right or wrong actions. Each
watchman s perspective of humanity is different. Their difference of philosophy affects their
decision making differently. Each watchman represents different values in the society and it is
important to examine their role in order to analyze what Watchmen s dystopia is

Michelle Obama First Ladies Essay
Only a few weeks ago the United States of America elected their 45th President, but not so many
people took into consideration whom their First Lady would be. Choosing Mr. Trump as their
president, the Americans chose Melania Trump as their future First Lady, taking the place of
Michelle Obama. But will Mrs. Trump complete her duty as the First Lady of the United States, as
well as Mrs. Obama did hers?
The two First Ladies (the actual one and the successor one) come from two different worlds, and
taking into consideration every aspect of their lives, we can definitely say that Mrs. Obama and
Mrs. Trump do change from one another. Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama was born January

Power Of Story Analysis
Wk2 The Power of Story Response
Story telling from the beginning of time has been a past time that has been carried on from
generation to generation. The Talmud is known for the many stories told in the Jewish history.
I remember my childhood years going down south during summer vacations. My grandparents and
uncles and aunts would sit around at sundown and tell stories about our family history. Some were
exaggerated and funny, but for the most part, I learned about how they overcame extremely
difficult times and how to persevere in the face of heavy opposition.
Storytelling has proven to be extremely important in helping to create, first and foremost, a
comfortable atmosphere for learning. In order for Christian education to be effective, a conducive
and non threatening atmosphere must be created rather than an atmosphere that consists of force
feeding information or slamming information down students throats dogmatically.
Today, our pastor preached on the prodigal son. This is a story that most people can identify
with. I know I can because I have personally experienced being restless, reckless, wretched, and
wanting to leave home and live the worldly way. I had good role models at home, but could not

By listening and/ or seeing stories, people transition content from their short term memory to their
long term memory. On top of this benefit, telling a story is an effective way of bridging the
cognitive learning theory and the humanistic learning theory. Both of which must be applied in
order for truth to be successfully understood. Finally, this method of educating is something that
Jesus Christ, the master teacher, employed when teaching his followers and is a method that
Christian educators in the twenty first century must take a hold of and use as they try to teach truth
their generation (Storytelling in Christian Education, n.d., p.

A Brief Note On The Migration Of Patient Health Records
Samara Zamora
Final Project
Steps Involved in Migration of Patient Health Records
A hospital in Orlando, FL has decided to switch from a paper based system to an electronic
health record system. An electronic health record is a computerized, accessible record that
contains multimedia data (scanned images, digital, video, voice, and so on) about the patient; it
is basically the patient s paper chart. EHR s are real time records which allow instant availability
to those who have authorized access to the EHR (Bowie, 2011). There are many reasons for a
hospital to want to change from paper records to an EHR; the usual primary reason is to improve
medical documentation. First and foremost it is important to establish what the hospital s primary
reason is to establish an EHR. Knowing this will make the transition smoother and faster because of
comprehensive EHR software and hardware installation that is comprised of a number of different
components (Medflow).
The steps involved in the migration of patient health records from a paper based system to an
electronic health record in a hospital setting are as follows:
1.It is important to have an estimated project budget for the transition, having this will prevent
delays or cost overruns later.
2.The hospital might need to hire an outside company or decentralize document imaging at different
locations in the practice. If an outside company is hired records are sent offsite to be scanned and
converted, the hospital needs to

The name of the story is ironic because the word Saboteur is used for one who intentionally

it is then that he becomes a saboteur to the public. ... You re a saboteur, you know that? You re

when he tries to tell the authorities (who are supposed to help and protect us) they tell him that
they cannot do anything for him so he has to sit until Monday. No leader is on duty on the
weekend. You have to wait till Monday (Jin 312). After Mr. Chiu is released, he visits food stands
and ends up contaminating innocent people with Hepatitis as revenge for what they put him

The Theory Of Keynesian Economics
Introduction
During the Great Depression in the 1930 s classical theory had difficulty in explaining why the
depression kept getting worse (Cheung, n.d., para. 1). Many economists have attempted to develop
theories that help to explain changing circumstances and why things kept getting worse. John
Maynard Keynes, a British economist also known as the founder of macroeconomics, saw this as an
opportunity and began to develop alternative ideas. His alternative ideas led to the idea of
Keynesian economics.
What is Keynesian Economics? Keynesian economics was used to manage the economy for
roughly forty years until around 1970. The main plank of Keynes s theory, which has come to bear
his name, is the asser tion that aggregate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3). In order for there to be full employment or lower unemployment
rates the demand of goods needed to remain constant. In order for demand to increase it had to
come from the economy s output of goods and services. An economy s output of goods and services
is the sum of four components: consumption, investment, government purchases, and net exports
(the difference between what a country sells to and buys from foreign countries) (Jahan et al., 2014,
para. 4). If savings was more than that of investments, there would be inflation. On the other hand,
Keynes stated that if more went into investments than savings there would be a recession in the
economy. This would mean that consumers would spend less, causing businesses to invest less in
the market. Other well known economist, such as Adam Smith who felt that government should
play no role in the market, Keynes felt that state intervention was the solution to this problem.
According to Keynes, state intervention was necessary to moderate the booms and busts in eco
nomic activity, otherwise known as the business cycle (Jahan et al., 2014, para. 4). Keynesian felt
that state intervention would promote full employment and price stability and more specifi cally,
governments should borrow money and boost demand by pushing the money into the economy.
Once the economy recovered, and was expanding again, governments should pay back the loans

1.3.Recommendation
There are currently several platforms that have been developed to support a business that is
primarily done via e commerce. These platforms will integrate with the various business channels
and centralize inventory. Since KOR s sales platforms (i.e. Amazon, www.korwater.com, etc) are
decentralized, inventory will be kept in one bucket; allowing for all inventories at various locations
to sync together. This would mean, if a customer purchases a product on Amazon.com, the inventory
will then sync to all channels.
After researching several different platforms, I have determined that Stitch Labs will integrate best
with KOR s current business channels. The KOR Water website is set up on a Shopify platform,
which runs extremely well with the Stitch bridge. Stitch also integrates very well with the Amazon
channels and will allow KOR to continuously have a handle on how much inventory is held in each
location (USA and Canada). The platform will also allow us to send additional inventory from
within the Stitch Labs platform.
Once the platform is integrated with KOR s sales channels, the following benefits will be available:
Operations team will create one .csv file for inventory upon integration. Inventory will be
completely maintained as it flows out to the customer, effectively eliminating the need for the
current system, the Google Doc.
Purchase orders for new production runs will all be

  • 2. Indian Gaming Benefits There are many ways Indian Gaming effects local and regional economies. It can be argued that it has been very beneficial. It can also be argued that it has been a detriment. Since 1988, when the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was passed, it has been providing a means of income for the tribes that participate. Indian gaming is beneficial to tribes and surrounding communities because it creates economic stability for the tribes, provides well paying jobs, and economic benefits for surrounding communities and the state. Indian gaming has created wealth for some tribes, but for most tribes it has made them economically stable. Part of the reason for success in Indian gaming was the route most tribes took. By starting conservatively and using temporary buildings, in some cases, tribes were able to smartly and carefully begin in the gaming industry (Akee, Spilde, and Taylor 196). Not all tribes use gaming as their primary source of income, but it is another revenue source that makes things stable. Some tribes have become very wealthy due to having an advantage of being located next to large populations. Most tribes do not have this advantage but do well in self sustainment.... • 3. Diagnosis Of Benign Scrotal Surgical Specimens Abstract Purpose: We recently demonstrated that pathologic analysis of benign scrotal surgical specimens may be unnecessarily increasing costs of patient care. Adult circumcision specimens may also routinely be sent for pathological analysis even when penile cancer is not suspected, increasing costs with little benefit. To assess the utility of foreskinpathology analysis, we evaluated the outcomes and the costs of this practice in patients where penile cancer was not suspected. Materials and Methods: All adult patients who underwent circumcision between January 2000 and August 2013 at a single institution were evaluated by retrospective chart review. Cases of suspected penile cancer (n=6) were excluded. We identified cases where foreskin specimens were sent for pathological analysis and reviewed pathology reports. Our Department of Pathology estimated the cost for evaluation of specimens at $311 per case. Results: A total of 147 circumcisions were performed in patients with no suspicious findings. Pathologic analysis was obtained in 69% (101/147) of the cases. Inflammation (58%) was the most common finding. One unsuspected instance of squamous cell carcinoma (Tis) was identified in a patient with HIV (1/147=0.7%). The overall cost of pathology analysis in this study was $31,411. Conclusions: In individuals without predisposing immunodeficiency and where cancer was not suspected, we found that pathology analysis of circumcision specimens identified no additional ... • 4. Formal Analysis of the Mona Lisa Essay example Analysis of the Mona Lisa Kim Pokladowski 2/20/11 I have always been intrigued with the Mona Lisa, I don t know why but there is something about her smile and her eyes that captivates me. The realness of the painting and how ordinary the Mona Lisa is the reason why I can look at this painting with great joy, it doesn t make me think too much, it doesn t confuse me, the simplicity and the normalcy of this painting is what I enjoy so much. However, after an analysis you can see that the painting isn t so ordinary. The Leonardo de Vinci used oils to paint his picture. During the 15th century using oils was very common. By using oils Leonardo was able to create a real lifelike painting. Since the oils dry slowly he was probably able ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You can see that the painting seems to be made up of three triangles. Mona Lisabeing the biggest then the left top corner is the background and the top right corner, a continuation of the background. From what we ve read he designed this painting in an upright triangular composition. However, these two backgrounds seem to not be part of the same landscape. The left top corner seems more shaded, and darker. Also the winding road I feel might symbolize troublesomeness, or decisions. Where as, the right top side of the background is a little lighter in color and the path seems clear and straight. By positioning the Mona Lisa the way Leonardo did creates balance within the painting. He also did a wonderful job on the symmetry of her face and of the painting, between the objects in the painting and the color used its self. You can see that when viewing a painting like this there are many questions that arise in your mind. Looking at the Mona Lisa I get drawn in and a sense of wonderment comes over me. I start to imagine the person in the painting and what her smile was really about. A strong, confident women is what I think she was, and that was brought out beautifully by de Vinci. I also think that the way he painted the Mona Lisa shows a lot about what and how Leonardo viewed women. Many say that it was painted for the love of his mother. What do you ... • 5. The Effects Of Sleep Deprivation On Adolescents And The... Fairfax County School Start Time: Analysis of the Policy To this point, the emphasis of the paper has been the social issue of sleep deprivation in adolescents and the relationship that school start times have with the issue. The focus now shifts to the evaluation on school start times and the associated policies in Fairfax County schools. Demographics of Fairfax County and its Schools Fairfax County is one of the largest counties in Northern Virginia with a population of 1,111,620 in 2013 ( Fairfax Demographics, 2013, p. 2). Additionally, the Fairfax County Public School (FCPS) district is the 10th largest school system in the United States. Table 1 provides salient data on the demographics of the Fairfax County school system. Table 1 Fairfax County School Demographics Source: ( FCPS Demographics, 2014, p. 1) The current policy for start time for FCPS high schools is 7:20 am. Given the preceding data presented, a start time this early makes it extremely unlikely that adolescents will be able to achieve a sufficient amount of sleep on school days. Fairfax County and the FCPS recently released the results of a youth survey conducted for the 2013 2014 school year. The sleep results shown in Figure 3 unmistakably show that the majority of students surveyed are receiving less than the nine and one quarter hours of recommended sleep per night. Figure 3. • 6. California Budget Process Introduction The budget process is the most important aspect of fiscal decision making in Public Administration. Smith and Lynch (2004), argues that Public budgeting is an activity that many people view from their own perspectives and, thus, they do not comprehend the full complexity of budgeting (p. 34). Similar to the contextual definition of complexity in budgeting process, a classic example was the State of California s budget impasse for the year 2010 2011. This essay examines and analyses the concerns that lead to passing a late budget in the State of California. It further goes into details regarding the reasons, resolutions, and consequences faced due to the budget Impasse. As published in the Press Democrat by Judy Lin (2010), Even ... As mentioned by Thompson (2010), in the Associated Press, Lawmakers bridged a $19 billion shortfall, more than 20 percent of the $87.5 billion general fund spending plan . This shows that the state was heading towards a financial crisis and more deficit creation. Moreover, Thompson (2010), in the Associated Press also points out that It includes no tax or fee increases but uses a combination of cuts, funding shifts, delayed corporate tax breaks and assumptions about money the state hopes to receive . The budget gave rise to other dependent costs such as delayed tax refunds. It was uncertain that the State will receive the required funds from the federal government to ensure that the important programs will function the way it used to be until the funds are received. One of the important drawbacks of the budget was the cuts and delays in education funding. As published in the article California lawmakers pass long overdue budget (2010), by Fox News Under the deal, nearly $2 billion in payments to K 12 schools and California s community colleges would be delayed until the next fiscal year . This was one of the consequences of the late deficit budget, which lawmakers agreed upon. Stopping payments to educational institutions was not seen as a positive feature of the budget. The delay in funding kept the educational programs on hold, which affected many educational ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Nile River Impact Of Egypt The Nile River helped Egypt economically, socially, and religiously, and as a result Egypt was named the Gift of the Nile because of the given history of these great waters. The Nile has continued for centuries to provide whats necessary for the people of Egypt and their daily lives. The Nile River is truly a blessing to these people and Egyptwould not be the same without it. Without the Nile, Egypt would have remained a hot desert. Egypt s farmers were depending on the river to flood the area, so that there would be fertile lands. With fertile lands, the farmers were able to plant crops, that wouldn t die and be healthy. The main crops that were planted in Egypt were cotton, corn, wheat, barley, rice, sugar cane, sorghum, fruits, vegetables, and dates. Every year, when the Nile River flooded, the soil was filled with nutrients for all these crops to grow. One thing that the Nile River really helped with, was that the river provided so many jobs to many people living in Egypt. Without the Nile River, there would be many unemployed, which means many that were impecunious. Having so many people with little money meant that for those who did work, they wouldn t get as much money because a lot of the people wouldn t be able to afford anything. Some of these jobs included farmers, because of the flooding so the farmers could plant crops. Then there were fishermen, who could fish from the Nile River to sell out to the people which was another way of having food. Without the river, there could be no fishermen to go fishing as the river. Another important job were the sailors, which would move the boats up and down the river. • 10. Imagery In The Raven The Poem, The Raven, by Edgar Allen Poe, is a timeless, and one of the most read, poems in history. It gives the readers a sense of fear, sadness, and excitement all at the same time. One of the ways that Poe stimulates the readers emotions is how he uses and symbolizes the Raven in the story. Throughout history, birds have symbolized hope, light, and freedom. Birds such as an Eagle, who symbolizes freedom and pride, or a dove that represents peace and love, show how birds bring a sense of good to a story. Although, I think the Ravenbrings a sense of sorrow, or loneliness to the story. In the Raven it states, But the Raven still beguiling my sad fancy into smiling Straight I wheeled a cushioned seat in front of bird, and bust, and door; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning of the story, the narrator speaks of his lost love, Lenore, and says how he is distraught over her passing. Succeeding this moment of sorrow, he hears a rapping on his chamber door ( Poe 4) which causes him to be curious who would be knocking at his chamber door at such an hour. He is filled with both hope, for the return of his lost Lenore, and terror for whatever he could dream was at his door. Then in came the raven and perched himself atop his chamber door on top of a statue of the Greek goddess Athena, who is the goddess of wisdom. For the symbolism of the raven, the narrator sees the raven as grim, ghastly, and ominous, but gives a new sense of curiosity to the narrator. The symbolism of a raven is the engaging in mystical and magical arts and gaining and receiving secret knowledge. Knowing this, it shows how the narrator would be both frightened, and fascinated at the presence of a mystical bird on his chamber door. Also the statue of Athena symbolizes the wisdom of the raven to perch on top of it and also adds to the mysterious side of the creature. But there could also be other reasons why the raven could seem scary and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is from my personal experience, that people are nicer to the rich or middle class whereas others frown upon poor people. Many people make the generalization that poor people take advantage of the state benefits that are offered, which is not true. Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. Education is looked at in depth by both Richard Rodriguez in his essay, The Achievement of Desire , and by Paulo Freire in his essay, The Banking Concept of Education. After reading both essays, one can make some assumptions about different methods of education and exactly by which method Rodriguez was taught. The types of relationships Rodriguez had with his teachers, family and in life were affected by specific styles of education. Based on Freire s essay, The Banking Concept of Education , there are two types of education styles. We will use these educational styles to look at how they affected... As a young child, Rodriguez feels that books were going to make [him] educated (Rodriguez 578). He never questioned what he was told by his teachers or what he read in any book. He didn t develop ideas of his own or any critical thinking skills. Rodriguez says that he was a great mimic; a collector of thoughts, not a thinker; the very last person in class who ever feels obliged to have an opinion of his own (Rodriguez 581). This type of education helps us to understand the relationships Rodriguez had with his mentor Richard Hoggart, as well as his school teachers and parents. Rodriguez initially uses Hoggart s book to categorize and describe his own experience as a student. Once he reads Hoggart s work he finally feels that he has identified himself. He recognizes the separation of home and school and how it is necessary to have this separation to become the type of student he desires, an elite student. Separation from his family and culture is necessary because Rodriguez sees the two as separate worlds. He must be removed from his original culture and family life to achieve the scholarly elite status. He had to devote himself to his studies, which leaves him no time for a family. After Rodriguez claims himself a to be an elite student, he justifies the steps he took in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 18. Identifying Human Hair and Animal Fair by Laser Diffraction 1. Introduction: 1.1 Overview The ability to identify an animal by examining its fur is a useful one for taxonomists and biologists. The hair of prey is often not digested by a predator, and so can be found in the predators scat and measured to ascertain its diet (Anwar et al., 2011). An electron microscope can be used to obtain a lot of data from hair, including its width and the shape and texture of its surface, however electron microscopes are expensive and time consuming to operate (Sessions et al., 2009). Lasers are much cheaper and can be used to easily measure the width of narrow objects by measuring the interference pattern created when laser light is diffracted around the object. As a result, laser diffraction may be a more preferable method for identifying hairs based on their width. This experiment hopes to show that laser diffraction is an accurate enough method for obtaining the width of narrow objects, such as animal and human hairs, to allow comparison between them. 1.2 Wave interactions 1.2.1 Diffraction: Diffraction is a physical phenomenon that occurs when waves encounter an obstacle or gap between obstacles. Depending on the wavelength of the wave and the size of the obstacle or gap waves bend and spread out. Waves tend to diffract more around objects or gaps of a similar size to their wavelength. How a wave will diffract when it meets an object can be modelled using Huygen s construction. Huygen s construction is based on Huygen s principle of light ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The most important aspect of the movie was that the crisis was foreseen, but nothing was done to prevent it. The three main characters are Michael Burry, Jared Vennett, and Mark Baum. Humans care for one another and are mostly understanding. However, this not always the case. Sometimes due to adolescence or pure cynicism. This lack of empathy can cause challenges in social relations, rendering empathy of utmost importance. Hence, the characterization of empathy is prevalent in multiple works, including text3 and 4. Text 3, a comic panel, exhibits the lack of empathy in a simpler manner. It shows the lack of empathy through a paranoid cynicist, a boy afraid of swimming who distrusts his lifeguard. It is later revealed that the lifeguard is also a cynicist, complaining about how she s doing the job just to pay for university. • 24. The Cultural Conflicts Existing Within The Discipline Of... Question # 1: Leaving aside assignment 6 (Gibson/Key) what reading(s) did you find most compelling this week, and why? This week, singling out one compelling piece was hard, as I now see how all the pieces are linked. For example, I liked how Perestroika informs us of the trends existing within the discipline of political science, particularly the overrated focus on methods and techniques in political inquiry. I also liked how Perestroika highlights the cultural conflicts existing within the discipline, which is demonstrated by the behavior of APSR and various administrations and departments of the discipline. Perestroika dictates that the discipline needs to resolve its existing epistemological differences through tolerance and increase the understanding of these differences. Gregory Bateson s proposal for innovative thinking shows us new ways of dealing with knowledge and generating ideas. He speaks of what he calls the ecology of mind that is the aggregates of ideas. Bateson stipulates that the world we see is the world we perceive not necessarily because it exists, but because we edit the reality we see. This idea speaks to the scientific mode of inquiry, as Perestroika puts it: causality vs. meaning, objective vs. subjective, and certainty vs. skepticism. Bates suggests that the scientific research must be interactive and inclusive of the various methods of inquiry. While Bent Flyvbjerg starts with the question of whether theory is possible in ... According to Friedman, a manager s only responsibility is to the shareholders, and not society as a whole (Jennings, 111). We all agree that a manager s primary responsibility is to the company and the shareholders. We feel that the manager s role is to act as an agent to conduct business in congruence with the goals set by the shareholders and laws of society, effectively making profit for the company. What are the different social responsibilities of a business? Can a business abide by all social responsibilities at the same time? Explain. Our consensus on the social responsibilities of a business include responsibilities to the environment, the community, customers, shareholders, and employees. Such responsibilities would include, creating new wealth, and new jobs according to Michael Novak. (Jennings) We all felt that although it may be possible for a business to abide by all of these responsibilities at the same time, it is highly unlikely due to conflicts between the social responsibilities. For example, in order to make profit and charge their customers less, the business may not always be able to ensure perfect performance in regards to environmental responsibility. It combines the 3 dimensional Cartesian coordinate system (x, y, z) with the polar coordinate system (r, Оё). The r stands for radius while the Оё stands for theta (the angle usually represented in radians). The x and y are replaced with the polar coordinate system while z stays the same. The coordinates are shown in this manner: (r, Оё, z). Graphing cylindrical coordinates is easy as long as you know how to graph in polar coordinates and in the 3D Cartesian system. First you look at only the xy planes to locate (r, Оё). Start at the positive x axis and go in a counterclockwise direction however many radians or degrees are stated. Then use r to know how far from the pole, center, to go. If r is a negative number, then it is in the opposite side of theta (so Оё=бґЁ/4 becomes Оё=5бґЁ/4) and r away from the pole. The conversion from (x, y, z) to (r, Оё, z) only requires the polar coordinate to Cartesian coordinate equations. Therefore the following equations are used: cos Оё=x/r, sin Оё=y/r, tan Оё=y/x, r2=x2+y2, and z=z (Zill,... God knew that by giving man free will he would also be giving them the opportunity to lose everything that they held dear to them. • 36. Just War and Pacifism Essay The question Can war be justified? plagued mankind since the first war. The Just War Theory holds that war can be just. The theory has evolved for thousands of years and modern theorists, such as Michael Walzer, author of Just and Unjust Wars, puts forth criteria for a just war, such as jus ad bellum and jus in bello. Jus ad bellum includes reasons for going to war, and jus in bello deals with the people who wage war. The criteriain jus ad bellum include; just cause, declaration by a proper authority, right intention, a reasonable chance of success, the end proportional to the means, and war as a last resort. Jus in bello includes keeping innocents outside the field of war, and limiting the amount of force used. Just War Theorists... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Locke s State of nature the government s primary objective is to protect individuals. For example, if one was in a state of nature and a gang of savages attacked him or her, he or she would do anything necessary to defend themselves. They would then form a group with a common objective of protection. With life now insured, the group can pursue liberty, happiness and estate. Just War Theorists claim the governments of today are essentially the same, only on a larger scale. Walzer and other Just War Theorists hold that self defense justifies pre emptive strikes. If an outside force is obviously endangering a state, it is then justifiable to stop the attack before it happens. Pre emptive strikes can prevent a future war that has worse effects. Walzer has what he calls a general formula for a just pre emptive strike, States may use military force in the face of threats of war, wherever the failure to do so would seriously risk their territorial integrity and political independence (87). Walzer uses an example to justify his general formula of a justifiable pre emptive strike. He claims that the Six Day War in 1967 was indeed a just pre emptive attack on Egypt by Israel. Israel was under real threat because Egyptian President Nasser massed an army and was positioning for attack, while simultaneously closing the Straits of Tiran to Israel, and publicizing his goal to destroy Israel. The nation of Judah stood in a precarious position: the wickedness of the people, the civil war which divided the Israelites into two kingdoms of Judah and Israel, the neighboring countries which stood by, threatening war and the dilemma that faced the leaders about whether or not they should take on allies all indicated the downfall of the nation of Judah if the people did not heed his words and change their ways. • 39. A New Generation Of Workers A new generation of workers are in the midst of taking over the workforce: Generation Y, also known as the Millennials. Baby boomers are ending their employment life cycle and transitioning into retirement, leaving Millennials as the soon to be dominant generation in the workforce. By 2020, more than 46% of labour will be provided by these millennials. (Weber, 2016) As this transition begins, a new trend within the workforce has also begun. Modern workers are no longer spending their entire career with one employer. In fact, according to data from the Bureau of Labour Statistics, the average worker today only stays at each of his or her jobs for 4.4 years. However, the expected tenure of the workforce s youngest employees is about half of that. Ninety one percent of Millennials (born between 1977 1997) expect to stay in a job for less than three years, meaning they would have 15 to 20 jobs over the course of their working lives. (Meister, 2012) With career development and work life balance on the forefront of the millennial mind, gone is the era of employers using base salary in order to compete for the worker talent pool. They now have to consider the total compensation package, which includes all forms of money, benefits, services, and other perks eligible to the employee when competing with other firms, as modern employees have begun to place just as strong of an importance on benefits as they do salary. Sex, Lies, And Conversation Deborah Tannen In the essay Sex, Lies, and Conversation Deborah Tannen focuses on the differences and lack of communication between men and women though observations. She came to the conclusion that men were not lacking in their listening, but they were however listening in a different way than the women did. On the other hand, men aren t the only people that have terrible communicationskills. In many ways, these differences between the two genders can cause major conflict when not understood by the opposite side. A few examples of lack of communication may be when women don t decide where they would like to eat, men who walk away from an argument rather than talking it out, and their decision making processes. The stereotypical mask that covers the female genderis that when asked where they would like to eat, they reply with, I don t care, wherever you d like to go. Instead of bluntly telling their significant other an actual response. The indirect message often can lead to frustration and/or annoyance for the other person. This response can mean a number of things. For one, the woman may not wantto come off as too picky or even they are giving lean way for what you might be interested in, too. The Talmud is known for the many stories told in the Jewish history. I remember my childhood years going down south during summer vacations. My grandparents and uncles and aunts would sit around at sundown and tell stories about our family history. Some were exaggerated and funny, but for the most part, I learned about how they overcame extremely difficult times and how to persevere in the face of heavy opposition. Storytelling has proven to be extremely important in helping to create, first and foremost, a comfortable atmosphere for learning. In order for Christian education to be effective, a conducive and non threatening atmosphere must be created rather than an atmosphere that consists of force feeding information or slamming information down students throats dogmatically. • 51. A Brief Note On The Migration Of Patient Health Records Samara Zamora Final Project Steps Involved in Migration of Patient Health Records A hospital in Orlando, FL has decided to switch from a paper based system to an electronic health record system. An electronic health record is a computerized, accessible record that contains multimedia data (scanned images, digital, video, voice, and so on) about the patient; it is basically the patient s paper chart. EHR s are real time records which allow instant availability to those who have authorized access to the EHR (Bowie, 2011). There are many reasons for a hospital to want to change from paper records to an EHR; the usual primary reason is to improve medical documentation. First and foremost it is important to establish what the hospital s primary reason is to establish an EHR. Knowing this will make the transition smoother and faster because of comprehensive EHR software and hardware installation that is comprised of a number of different components (Medflow). The steps involved in the migration of patient health records from a paper based system to an electronic health record in a hospital setting are as follows: 1.It is important to have an estimated project budget for the transition, having this will prevent delays or cost overruns later. 2.The hospital might need to hire an outside company or decentralize document imaging at different locations in the practice. In order for there to be full employment or lower unemployment rates the demand of goods needed to remain constant. If savings was more than that of investments, there would be inflation. On the other hand, Keynes stated that if more went into investments than savings there would be a recession in the economy.
