General Marion a Revolutionary Tactician During the Revolutionary War
During the revolutionary war American military officers had to evolve their tactics in order to out
maneuver the large British forces to win the war. General Francis Marion would become known as
one of the more famous revolutionist of his time. Taxes imposed by the Crown were enacted to
recoup expenditures from the French and Indian War, but the American colonist despised the
British authorities for their heavy handed tactics (Savas Dameron, 2006). Within the three years
prior to revolution, the British government imposed the Sugar Act, Currency Act, and Quartering
Act upon the American colonists. The Massachusetts House of Representatives denounced further

Most of the Cherokee nation of an estimated 10,000 people favored the British. However, there was
a segment of the population that held the French in higher regard. This was based primarily on their
trade relations and the fact that the British had established four settlements deep in Cherokee
hunting grounds. The tensions between the British and Cherokee were further inflamed by an
accidental massacre when a group of Cherokee warriors were mistaken for those of another tribe. A
call went out for British reinforcements and the desire for South Carolina to send its own militia. It
was in this militia that Lieutenant Marion now served.
As Cherokee Warriors lay in ambush along a narrow pass Lieutenant Marion s South Carolina
Ranger Company was chosen to lead the way. Marion s unite was moving north when met by a
force of approximately a thousand Cherokees. His unit took severe casualties but cleared a way for
the main force to continue its advance.
The French and Indian War had done several important things. It cleared the French from North
America, establishing the British Empire. It trained colonist in the ways of war by teaching them
how to fight for a unified cause, and it created the circumstance that would spark the American
Revolution. The actions of the British following the war including taxation to pay for the war, the
quartering of troops, restrictions on trade

NFL Protest Observation
Fila Bates Patrick Jehle Writing and Rhetoric II November 8, 2017 NFL Protest Observation The
American flag represents this so called notion of equality and patriotism, even though it was
used alongside with the pledge of allegiance to capitalize on the people s love of the country. The
current controversy is that protest at NFL games is not only disrespectful to the country, but is
also a disrespect to our armed forces who fought for our constitutional rights, this paper is simply
an observation piece that will discuss the various arguments surrounding the NFL protest and will
explore people s current feelings toward the silent protest. Many members of the U.S military
have come to Collin Kaepernick s defense in the aftermath of the protest. Kellie Johnson a former
military personal talk about how the protests are simply representations of their freedom of
expression and that people should stop focusing on the anthem and start focusing on the reasons
for the protest. She even speculates that majority of people who complain about kneeling are the
same ones in the stands of sporting events looking at their phones, which is a form of disrespect to
the flag. So, you can start to see that the same people who worship the flag commit actions that
devalues its worth in America as well. The factiousness symbolized in the American flag distorts
people s perspective of how equality and justice should be upheld in this country. Meghan Lindsey a

The Internet And Its Impact On Society
The Internet plays a huge role in today s society. Everything in today s world revolves around
the Internet. Individuals use it to pay bills, access social media, email, etc. Most individuals do
not know that they would not be able to access any of these privileges if they did not exist. A
web server is a client/server process. It uses a specific software to fulfill a client s web page
request by finding, selecting, and forming the web page to be transmitted to the client s device.
This would be from the time that a client makes a request until they receive the information. This
paper will discuss the following subtopics: the past, present, and future of web servers, including
other competing technologies; what constitutes a web server;... Show more content on

technology to have in an organization. Speed, time, cost and security are the most important
attributes involved with a web server. Currently, the leading web servers include Apache, which is
the most widely installed web server, Microsoft s Internet Information Server (IIS) and NGNIX.
(Lingan) However, new developments in the technology field are constantly evolving. These
developments will deal with a new technology called cloud hosting. The future of web servers is
unclear. However, the new trend under discussion is the technology of cloud hosting and
infrastructure. With this, the cloud infrastructure will become the default web server environment.
This means that there will be a move towards open source platform services, a greater focus on
small businesses, developers, and individuals, developers will be the center of future IT
departments, and growth will outpace the traditional market. (Uretsky)

HELLP Syndrome Analysis
Here in the United States, there are medical facilities who because of their religious affiliations
are not able to function to the highest level of care. It is because of these facilities, mainly
hospitals, and their adherence the religious doctrines that are set forth by either churches or other
religious orders, that people may find that they can be denied certain procedures forcing people to
face unneeded consequences. The group of people that can specifically fine themselves denied are
women, with reproductive health being the main concern of subpar care. Therefore, it is the
responsibility that even though a hospital may have a religious affiliation it should provide
equivalent medical care. So they fulfill their intended purpose as a hospital, equipping their doctors

As woman age, they will find that pregnancy can be extra hard on the body, causing health issues
such as high blood pressure, with some woman developing preeclampsia. Preeclampsia, a pregnancy
induced hypertension disorder which affects both mother and fetus poses the real possibility of
impacting renal function along with the development of HELLP syndrome. When a woman
develops this HELLP syndrome they are a risk of hemolysis; the breakdown of red blood cells,
elevated liver enzymes, and low plate count putting her a greater risk of complications that cause
death (Preeclampsia Foundation, pg1). The only known way to cure this disorder is to deliver the
baby and placenta, even if the baby is premature because not only can this kill the mother, but it has
repercussions for the fetus as well. When it comes to the fetus, preeclampsia causes an inadequate
nutrition supply because of the insufficiency of the placenta to regulate how the fetus gets its
nutrients, which can lead to growth retardation and further heath compilations later in life (Lapidus

Written by Margaret K. Pai, the Dreams of Two Yi min narrates the story of her Korean
American family with the main focus on the life journeys of her father and mother, Do In Kwon
and Hee Kyung Lee. Much like the majority of the pre World War II immigrants, the author s
family is marked and characterized by the common perception of the typical Asian immigrant
status in the early 20th century: low class, lack of English speaking ability, lack of transferable
education and skills, and lack of knowledge on the host society s mainstream networks and
institutions (Zhou and Gatewood 120, Zhou 224). Despite living in a foreign land with countless

Not much is given about his early life and family structure, except that he had three brothers.
Since he could not afford to attend a university in Korea, Kwon applied to work on Hawaii s sugar
plantations. In 1905, the year that the Korean labor supply to Hawaii was cut off, he successfully
immigrated as a seventeen year old sugar plantation laborer with the hopes of fleeing poverty (Pai
4, Takai 238). Approaching his mid 20 s as a young bachelor, he was working as a yardboy for a
Mr. Hackfeld when his picture bride sailed across the ocean. Afterwards with the help of a friend,
Kwon took up a more respectable job as an apprentice upholsterer at the Coyne Furniture
Company. As years passed and he became noted as one of the most prestigious upholsterers in
Hawaii, the company he was working for shut down, causing him to lose his job in 1928. Young
Soon Han states, The most viable businesses would be the same ones they [Koreans] did before,
because...they have only this experience (249). Just like the solution to the Korean liquor
storeowners who lost their businesses in the L.A. riots, Kwon s solution was to get back into the
same business. The only difference was that this time he was an entrepreneur. Despite Lee s
disappointment in her failed pursuit of a college education and the financial instability she
unexpectedly encountered in a foreign country, she formed a strong, supportive relationship with her

Volunteer Service In American Society
In American society, helping those that are less fortunate has always served as one of our core
values. Benjamin Franklin is credited as the first volunteer when he founded a volunteer firefighting
company in 1736. During the Civil War, Ladies Aid Societies came together providing linen for
bandages, wrappings, and many other cloth items. Often times, the volunteerwillingly makes
concessions in their own schedule to help others or provide services for charitable organizations.
What motivates the volunteer to sacrifice their own time in the service of others? In this paper, I
will address a variety of factors that drive the individual to give back to their community.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Foreign Investment In Nigeria
Foreign investment capital, both in cash and in kind (e.g. by way of machinery and equipment,
technical expertise and services), play vital role in the development of Nigeria (Agosin, 2000).
Nigeria has an extreme shortage of long term debt capital, as well as equity funds. Other financial
instruments that could support private sector development, such as leasing, are underdeveloped
(CBN, 1992). In a continent where finance is a major constraint on development, the private sector
in Nigeria, in particular, the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) suffer many disadvantages
including but not restricted to high interest rates, loan terms of rarely more than one year, absence
of equity capital, and stringent collateral requirements. These problems are further exacerbated by
land titling problems. Nigeria s desperate situation stands out even... Show more content on

a high level of economic growth, nor has it been able to attract a high level of private sector
investment commensurate with its economic potentials (Anyanwu, 1998). In the assessment of the
Nigerian investment environment, the following factors have been identified as the major
obstacles to economic growth and the flow of private sector investment to the country
1.Dependence on the oil sector, which accounts for 95% of foreign currency income and 80% of

Growing Regions
Construct a map to illustrate the spatial distribution of growing regions globally
Describe any correlation you have found between the spatial distribution of the food staple growing
region and global biomes
90% of all rice is grown in asia, in irrigated and upland areas of not only asia but west africa and
central and south america. The rice in these countries are grown close to equator in grasslands areas
the reason grasslands are used for farming of rice is because it s a perfect mix of cool and hot
climates which is great for growth and they are predominantly large and expansive biomes perfect
for growing crops on a large scale. It can be grown up to and around 3000 meters
Explain how environmental factors (temperature, water availability, soils and topography) influence
the yield of the food staple.
Rice is grown upland so that water can flow down and irrigate all the rice below it and not
overwater the plants, rice can have low productivity in some areas as soil can be poor and little
fertiliser is used. Rainfall can be inconsistent and cause either drought or erosion of the hill side
preventing growth. Rice needs to be grown in areas where nighttime ... Show more content on

Rice is very dependant on water and uses 2 and a half times as much water as other crops, this
means drought and water scarcity is a huge problem. Flooding is also as big as a problem as rice
grows on sloping rice paddies that are vulnerable to flooding because the water flows downhill
meaning erosion affects all the crops. Urbanisation is somewhat of a problem because rice can be
grown in a wide variety of places and the countries that export the most rice have station the farms
far enough away that it won t be a problem for a long

The Effects Of Drug Addiction
Drug addiction is a chronic brain disorder that affects millions of people around the world. It is
characterized by compulsive drug seeking and use despite the harmful consequences that may
occur. Surprisingly, drugs affect people in different ways. One person may habitually take a drug
and never become addicted, while another person can have only a single experience with a drug
and become iammediately addicted. To be clear, addicts are habitual drug users who continue to
use a drug despite its unfavorable effects on their health and social life. It is also worthy of noting,
that addictiondoes not solely occur with drugs, ambling, food, shopping and video games also can
become an addiction. There are three stages in drug addictionthat should be known, initial drug
taking, habitual drug taking, and lastly, drug craving and addiction relapse.
The first stage in drug addiction is the initial drug taking. In other words, how does a person
begin taking the drug in the first place. It should first be noted, that not everyone who has access
to a drug will take it and not every who takes the drug will continue to do so after that first use. To
begin with there are various environmental factors that play a role in whether or not a drug is taken
by a person. The first factor is drug availability and price. This may include how easily a drug can
be accessed and how expensive is it to buy. The second factor is social pressures. This depends on
what type of people a person is

Sadly, the fact of the matter is that is highly unlikely. Most CEOs would most likely reform their
packages to appease the public for a small amount of time. The problem with this is that people
like money and people like having nice things. so with that being said the company is at a low
risk of failing unless they have other issues dealing with the likes of care quality issues,

Teenage Pregnancy And Teen Pregnancy
Teenage pregnancy has been famously depicted as a situation that involves the female
adolescents. For one to be dubbed as a pregnant teenager, she ought to be at the early age of
twelve years though in most scenarios it has been fourteen and older. In the developed as well as
developing countries, the cause of the teenage pregnancyhas been common with most of them
being related to the specific situation of the teenager as well as the group that the teenager interacts
with. However, the rate of the teenage pregnancy has been varying from one nation to another

Once the population of the pregnant teenagers is compared with all the teenagers, the once who
have been seen to be susceptible to getting pregnant are more likely to have come from the poor or
the low income families and those who ends up giving birth having come from the disadvantaged
background (Putnam Hornstein, et al, 2016).
One of the situations that have been seen to be common in southern California is that poorer
teenagers have always not been experienced sexually as teenagers from the advantaged families,
though they have been much likely to become pregnant once they engage in the sexual practice.
The teenagers that have been hailing from the families that are financially stable have been more
likely in terminating the pregnancy once they discover it as compared to those from the
disadvantaged families where the teenagers have been opting to wait for delivery s they cannot
support the termination of the pregnancy. It is a factor that has been supported by the proof of
nearly seventy percent of the high income adolescents who become pregnant ending up in aborting.
The figure is very high as compared to that of the poor and low income families that rage between
20 to 30 percent (Putnam Hornstein, et al, 2013).
The socioeconomic factor has been affecting the education of the people directly and hence
facilitating the cases of teenage pregnancy. It is this aspect that the pregnant teenagers who are the

Running head: TOUCHING BEHAVIOUR CONVERSATION
Touching Behaviour in Conversational Dyads

Humans are social and diversely interactive beings. As a result, there is the frequent practice of
touching during conversation. This touching may be the conscious decision of individuals, as well
as simply a spontaneous form of expression or response. An operational definition of touching
would involve the initiation of physical contact between two individuals; for example, shaking
hands (Fowler and Fowler, 1969). A conversation involves communication between two individuals
by word of mouth (Fowler and Fowler, 1969). Touching as a complement of conversation is very

Apparatus/Instruments A three section Record Sheet (see Appendix) was designed for the
purpose of the study. The sheet had spaces to record the number of hand and body touches of the
three types of dyads (F F, M M, and M F) as well as some demographics В– the location, date and
time the observation was made. Also a timing device (e.g. watch or stopwatch) was used for the
purpose of the one minute period of observation. These devices however were selected based on
what was available to individual researcher.
Procedure
Each student of the PS 11A class was given a Record Sheet (see Appendix) for the purpose of
recording their observations. Using a haphazard sampling approach, the students unobtrusively
observed the three sets of dyads (F F, M M and M F) for one minute, while they were in

each set of dyads during the minute. Examples of hand touches include hand to hand, hand to face,
hand to leg, hand to shoulder. Examples of body touches include body to body, kissing and

the minute were recorded. Accordingly, if the dyads were touching before the minute of
observation started, this was not counted or recorded. Also, students, during tutorial sessions were

Making a Case for Year-Round Schooling
...Thus, at the beginning of formalized education in our country, communities created schooling
schedules that were cohesive with the lifestyles and responsibilities of the student populations. In
rural areas, schooling was structured around agricultural harvesting. Local school boards and
superintendents gave students months off so that students could help their parents with harvesting
crops and caring for the farm. Unlike their rural counterparts, in the mid 18oos, children in urban
areas were subject to year round schooling. Yet because education was not compulsory at the time,
students were able to take time off when they pleased, and thus, attendance became inconsistent and
problematic. To encourage maximum schoolattendance,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although summer may still be necessary for some families, year round school provides an
opportunity to accommodate both sides: year round schooling shortens the summer break in order
to maintain retention rates, however it still does allow for a summer break for students to aid their
families for harvesting their crops or taking family vacations. It is simply in a more practical and
manageable timeframe. For those students not involved in rural work, there is the matter of
childcare over the summer. The typical option is summer camps. The American Camp
Association has established quite a presence against year round schooling due to the conflict it
poses with their schedules (Opheim 399). Yet there is a solution available with year round
schooling. Having summer break cut in half will have the children inside learning in school,
which cuts ridiculously expensive childcare costs and concerns for parents. Summer camps will
still be an option, but they would have to conform to the children s schedules. There will also be
the possible option for several camps to occur should alternative schedules be chosen for an
overcrowded school. As uncomfortable as change can be, it will all be made in the name of
furthering education.
Year round schooling gives an equal time duration of breaks over the winter and summer. This
allows for more family time to be spent for those who do still have to work over the summer on
farms.

to their own children. Secondly, we see the mother in the commercial who appears slightly

relate to a situation where they ve gotten annoyed when their child gets too involved with
pretending to do something. Finally, we see the father at the end of the commercial who wants to

he was successful with using the force, it demonstrates a loving and caring relationship. This might
make fathers who watch the commercial want to go out and buy the car to be that loving and

supportive rhetorical techniques. First, Volkswagen does this by pulling people in with the
rhetorical technique of pathos. By creating a scenario within the advertisement which consumers
can relate to, the viewer tends to feel a sense of familiarity and emotional attachment. The scene in
the commercial that acts as the strong emotional trigger is the final scene where the young boy
uses the force on the car. Whether it s a parent watching the commercial or someone thinking back

Theme Of Blood Imagery In Macbeth
MACBETH S FALL INTO EVIL
Shakespeare uses imagery to show Macbeth s fall into evil. Darkness is invariably associated with
evil and to a certain extent deception. William Shakespeare employs the imagery of darkness
throughout his play of Macbeth. He uses dark images often to describe instruments of disorder and
the evils which characters portray. Macbeth is a tragedy that was written by Shakespeare in the
Elizabethan Era. In Elizabethan England night air was said to be impure and rheumy and it was

In Act II of Macbeth, the soliloquy describes how Macbeth plans to murder the king. He
describes in detail what he will see. I see thee still, and on thy blade and dudgeon gouts of blood,
which was not so before. The dudgeon of a dagger is the hilt of the dagger. Therefore; Macbeth
is describing a sharp dagger, covered in thick blood from its tip to the hilt. One can easily
visualize the crime scene and the victim s body after such a dagger has been plunged into it several
times. These deep wounds, the length of said dagger, become the points from which King Duncan s
lifeblood will spill. This particular description relies on its imagery to reveal the transition from
honor to that of pure evil and treachery. No good intent, honor, or victory can attach to such a vile
act. Blood imagery now intensifies an atmosphere that is thoroughly evil. It exposes the evil plans
and actions that have come to dominate the characters of Macbeth and his lady. Lady Macbeth
asks the spirits to make thick my blood. She is asking the spirits to leave her remorseless and
insensitive about the murders she and Macbeth will soon commit.
In the story of Macbeth, Macbeth starts out as an honorable warrior but changes when his ambition
becomes uncontrollable. As he becomes increasingly paranoid, Macbeth uses violent means to
eliminate threats to his Scottish throne. As the play progresses, blood continuously plays

Henry V Irony
The Irony Depicted in Shakespeare s Henry V
As Norman Rabkin has observed, Henry V is a play which organizes critics into rival camps of
interpretation (35). It can be seen as a play that is ambiguous; a play that exposes the playwright s
own indecision; a play that aggressively takes sides in favour of nationalistic fervour which
Shakespeare himself didn t believe in (35). All of these views, writes Rabkin, are wrong since
according to him the play s ultimate power lies in its ability to point in two opposite directions,
virtually daring us to choose one of the two opposed interpretations (36). In fact, it is Rabkin that is
wrong: not in his supposition that the play dares the audience to choose, but rather, that a reading ...

In the case of the duplicity of Scrope and the other traitors, Henry makes them examples during
their public humiliation (Brennan 42), a public demonstration, furthermore, of his sense of
injury. In Rabkin s words, he knows how to give a good performance, verification of his political
acumen (Either/Or 45). Unlike his predecessors, this is a king who can recognize that he is in
fact a role more than he is a man, and that ceremony consists only in what is conferred by others.
(Rabkin 46). He is so dangerously pragmatic because he is far less detectable and unsettling
because he has none of Richard III s vice like propensity, and we are liable to find his image
building similar to modern politicians (Brennan 24).
This is precisely the kind of brutal clarity that helps in his construction and use of the U.K. s
burgeoning state hood as we know it in the modern sense: the modern world in which every
action of a leader is shaped for public consumption (Brennan 32). The nation is but a mass of
potential chaos, a multiplicity which only reaches its potential as a political, unitary force when it
is summoned for battle. Henry s use of his soldiers for instance, and stress on unity (their shared
experience and camaraderie of Act ....), leads to the illusory notion that there is a possibility of
nobility for those who earn it (Brennan

Military Hero Essay
Who do you think is the most important in a play, the lead role, or the stage hands? Like how a
play is, it s just the same in the military. There are the soldiers that go out and fight, and there are
ones that make, test, and fix their equipment. My grandfather, Glen Sauerbry, was a technician in
the air force, and played the most important role in the air force and was and still is, a herofor doing
it. Glen Sauerbry is a hero because he joined the militarywith no prior knowledge on what he was
to do and did it willingly. This is important because if a hero is not willing to face danger and the
unknown, then they cannot become a hero in the first place. In the words of Kendra Cherry,
creator of the Seven Qualities of Heroism, It takes both skill and self confidenceto rush in where
others fear to tread (Cherry). My grandfather was gaining both of these in taking the risk of
joining the military. My grandfather is a hero because he joined the air force knowing the air
force is dangerous. According to the Center for Disease Control, at an average death rate of
1,934, a total of 27,070 soldiers died serving in active duty. Annually, 94.9 of soldiers per
100,000 military personnel of all factions died. ( National Mortality Profile of Active Duty
Personnel in the U.S. Armed Forces: 1980 1993 ). My grandpa could have been one of those

Ignatius is the following: slothful, gluttonous, and patronizing. Ignatius is a slothful human being.

Nut and bakery cakes (263). Ignatius is a patronizing human being. When Ignatius was standing
underneath the clock of the D. H. Holmes department store, he was looking down upon other
people standing near him. He observed the new and expensive outfits of the people, which he
thought could be considered offenses against taste and decency. He believed that anything new or
expensive reflected a person s lack of theology and geometry (1). When Ignatius was gathering all
of the factory workers to prepare them for the riot, he patronized them. The factory workers started
to complain about all of his requests. Ignatius responded to their complaining saying that they are
not deserving of the cause and that they are not prepared to make any sacrifices (137). Ignatius s
mother wanted to read the letter that Mr. Levy had brought to their house when he wanted to ask
Ignatius if he had written it. Ignatius told Mr. Levy to not let her read the letter because it would
confuse her for days (367). Ignatius is indeed a slothful, gluttonous, and patronizing man. These
qualities are seen constantly throughout the entire book. His own mother began to consider putting

The Importance Of Professional Scepticism And Their...
In 2013, the American Accounting Association carried out an annual meeting focusing on the
importance of professional scepticism and their objectivity in the process of auditing. It was stated
that PCAOB professional scepticism is the foundation to the part and function of auditors. It was
thus emphasized that it is necessary for the PCAOB professional standards to make the objectivity
clear and make sure that professional scepticism is expressed in the ability of auditfirms and
workers, the judgement which applied in choosing suitable auditing procedures and conclusion, and
the action of the audit work. It was to make clear that the implantation of professional scepticism is
a foundation to the field of auditing quality and the moral courage of the audit process.
Auditing is the on site authentication activity (Bernhard, 2011), Cascarino (2012) introduced the
objective of auditors, which is to judge if the data is well controlled according to the accuracy
and honesty, therefore to report significant error when spotted. Auditors are divided into three
parties to perform within or out of a company. The first party audit is performed within a firm,
which is to measure the strengths and weakness of the company against the procedures, and
external standards applied. This party of auditors are employed by the company, they are no

escape the raw facts of her lonely life, her dysfunctional family, and her own lack of motivation,
she retreats into the past. She continuously looks back on her girlhood and the gentlemen
callers who filled her home and admired her. In some pathetic part of her mind, she remains
that young, tantalizing flirt, and as long as she immerses herself in those dreams, she can escape
the very dull reality of her present life. She is poor; her husband abandoned the family, her son
does not respect her, and her daughter is disabled. Escape is the only thing she has that brings
her any joy or satisfaction in her life. Another critic notes, Amanda represents the ideals of the
Old South, the Puritan tradition, and a kind of meaningless conformity that destroys the
individual without the consequence of enriching the world (Crandle 12). Each member of the
family uses escape in some way to cope with their unhappiness, but Tom is the only one to make
a permanent escape. Critic Harold Bloom writes, Thus, while the father still personifies love to
the romantic memory of the middle aged Amanda, he symbolizes another kind of romance to his
son the romance of escape and adventure (Bloom 34). Escape is in Tom s blood, and that is
clear throughout the play his major goal is always to leave, symbolizing his father s role in his

Economic Justice Vs Distributive Justice Essay
An average American employee must work for an entire year before he or she earns what the
average American CEO earns in one day (Rezvani, Pirouz 6). The United States GINI coefficient,
a measure of income inequality, sits at 0.590 one of the highest marks in the entire developed
world (4). A majority of wealth sits in the hands of less than one percent of the country and those
lucky enough to fall under this percentage are catered to by politicians in search of reelection. That
said, it is easy for one to wonder whether the We the People mantra has been replaced with a mantra
of We the Corporations (10). Clearly, economic injustices transcend economic issues and affect
more than a citizen s bank account.

In the most general sense, distributive justice refers to justice in the allocation of resources while
commutative justice refers to justice in acts of exchange. Distributive economic justice requires
that every individual should have the moderate income needed for the basic necessities while
commutative economic justice requires that the price of commodities be set at an agreed upon
standard of equity (Macpherson 7). Minimum wage serves as a tool for distributive economic
justice as it ensures that citizens have the means for basic sustenance while the free market system
serves as a tool for commutative economic justice as its grants largely unrestricted access for both
consumers and producers. To date, most of the research regarding economic justice has supported
distributive theories because the main requirement for commutative economic justice, equality of
access, is limited by uncontrollable forces like geography, race, and gender, which can all prevent
access to economic systems (Armour

Negative Effects Of Stress
According to a poll, about one in every four Americans (about sixty million people) have claimed
to have encountered some stress this past month (Whyte n.p.). Sometimes, the intensity of stress
causes anxiety or frustration. Which is why for the most part, stress is taken as a negative impact
on an individual. Whether that stress comes from school, money, environment, work or all of
them, everyone walks the same path of stress sometimes without even realizing it. Although many
people perceive stress in a negative way, there s some surprising benefits of stress that we are not
aware of. It all comes down to the basic element of what stress is. Stress is an anticipated feeling
someone gets when they get into any trouble or difficulty. The human body reacts physically to any
stressor that comes across. For example, our body has two important systems that play a role
sympathetic nervous systemand parasympathetic system. The parasympathetic system is known as
a rest and digest response in which hormones send adrenaline and other transmitters to your body.
On the other hand, the sympathetic nervous systemis known as a fight or flight response in which it
uses that adrenaline in order to react quickly. Therefore, both these symptoms react to any stressor
that can prepare the human body for anything that might come across, physically and mentally.
(Grant n.p.) Stress can benefit us in many ways. For one, it can help humans increase their

The Day the Music Began
Legendary composer Leonard Bernstein once said, This will be our reply to violence: to make
music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before (Leonard Bernstein
Quotes). This statement describes the exact response of musicians to the assassination of the young
American President, John F. Kennedy. Toward the end of his third year of presidency, Kennedy
was shot and killed in a parade in Dallas, Texas. Americans were shocked to have lost such a
promising young leader, and a somber silence swept across the nation as Americans lamented his
death; this silence, however, was broken by the melancholy music of mourning (Baldacci). The
assassination of President John F. Kennedy started a new movement of music that was inspired by
the tragedy and differed in structure from previous music.
November 22, 1963, the day President Kennedy was assassinated, is occasionally referred to as the
day the music stopped , but in reality the music had just begun (Baldacci). Approximately 2,500
people were attending a Boston Symphony Orchestra concert when they heard the news of their
leader s passing. After many gasps the audience stood in hushed reverence for their fallen president,
and the musicians began to perform a movement from Beethoven s 3rd Symphony: a funeral march
(Inverne). This moment is now one of the most famous events in the history of classical music; it is
a moment that launched a new era of music.

Culture is not a fixed phenomenon, nor is it the same in all places or to all people. It is relative to
time, place, and particular people. Learning about other people can help us to understand ourselves
and to be better world citizens. One of the most common ways of studying culture is to focus on the
differences within and among cultures. Although their specifics may vary form one culture to

thought it necessary to hold on these priceless teachings because it has served as the only link to
our African ancestry. African American culture is both part of and distinct from American culture.
African Americans have contributed literature, agricultural skills, foods, clothing, dance, and
language to American culture. There are distinctive patterns of language use among African
Americans that arose as creative responses to the hardships imposed on the African American
community. Slave owners forced African Americans to create a language that allowed them to
communicate effectively with one another. Slaves were not allowed the opportunity to read and
write because most slave owners thought they would find a way to buy their freedom if they knew
how to read and write. Significant numbers of people still speak some of the Creole languages they
used to communicate so many years ago. Agriculture and food is also a unique aspect of African
American culture. The cultivation and use of many agricultural products, such as yams, peanuts,
rice, okra, grits, and cotton, can be traced to African and African American influences. African

Summary Of The Short Story The Shawl By Langston Hughes
In the short story, The Shawl by Cynthia Ozick, the symbol of the Shawl changes over the course
of the story. For Magda, the protagonist who is a baby, the shawl represents protection and
nurturing. Once Magda dies, however, the shawl represents mourning and emptiness for Rosa,
Magda s mother. Similarly, in the short story, Thank you, Ma am by Langston Hughes the blue
suede shoessymbolize varying ideas as the story develops. Initially, Roger, the protagonist, has a
desire which is not met, to own blue suede shoes, the shoes therefore, represent a feeling of lacking.
Later in the story Roger is given money to buy the shoes, at which point the shoes begin to
represent his needs being met. Both Ozick and Hughes use accessories as symbols to illustrate the
protagonists transitioning between gaining and lacking proper nourishment.
The shawl provides Magda with sustenance and protection, which allows Magda to provide these
same benefits for Rosa. In describing the shawl, Ozick writes, It was a magical shawl, it could
nourish an infant for three days and three night . While the shawl provides Magda with all the
nutrients she needs to survive, Magda helps Rosa feel satisfied, despite giving her food rations to
Magda. Rosa gains these crucial necessities indirectly from the shawl through Magda, while Magda,
on the other hand, benefits directly from the shawl. For both Magda and Rosa the shawl, in
providing them with the sustenance they need, symbolizes them having their basic needs met.
Once Magda dies, however, the shawl symbolizes an emptiness and dearth of nourishment.
During her life, the shawl provides for Magda, which allows Rosa to reap benefit also, but once
Magda dies, and the shawl no longer provides sustenance. Ozick writes, Rosa drank Magda s
shawl until it dried . The shawl dries up quickly, in contrast to the constant, never ending
nourishment that the shawl possessed prior to Magda s death. The dried up shawl symbolizes
Rosa s lacking. Before Magda died Rosa s needs were met through Magda, however, now that
Magda is gone Rosa no longer has those needs met. Although the shawl, initially, symbolized Rosa
receiving proper sustenance, once Magda dies the shawl symbolizes Rosa s lack of

Jain, 2009, para. 7). Obstetric based or maternal based reasons need to be discussed honestly
between the patient and physician carefully.
Often feeling the pressure of family and the uncertainty of the baby s arrival can be a motivating
factor toward choosing a planned birth. The mode of delivery in many ways can be up to the
discretion of a physician, more so because the medical community s fear of litigation even so
Obstetric nurses are 10 times more likely to be in the courts as oppose to non obstetric
nurses(Sibbald, 2003, para. 3). The advantages of performing a ECS is having the patients
preferred healthcare provider available and greater ease of balancing staffing levels with clinical
volume (Salim Shalev, 2010, p. 4). Ultimately, avoiding patient morbidity and fatigue with the
healthcare team can contribute to a positive outcome. Although, scheduling birth based on timing
and convenience can be a motivating factor for CDMR. It s been shown that respiratory morbidity
in Elective Cesarean section is inversely related to gestational age at the time of ECS

Private Peaceful By Michael Morpurgo
Turn back the clock to a high school history class, the topic of the day: World War I. Although
bombarded with the statistics and factual knowledge of the war, students are not given
information beyond who won and how many casualties each side suffered. Students are not
brought into the world of WWI through a connection they may feel to those left behind, or those
risking their lives on the battlefield, but rather faced with statistical reports to be regurgitated.
Topics such as heartbreak and the loss a family feels when finding out their son have been killed
in war are not highlighted throughout a typical history book. Nor do we see a glimpse into the
lives of the soldiers before the war began, what they went through in the trenches, or what was
left behind when they headed to their death. In the novel, Private Peaceful, by Michael
Morpurgo, readers are given a glimpse into the life of soldiers before the war along with the
heartache and loss felt when a comrade, or brother, finds death on the battlefield. The story is
told from the viewpoint of Tommo Peaceful as he reflects on the life he left behind while at war.
His brother Charlie was also with him in the war and through their relationship, readers are given
a story of the war that highlights the humanity and love soldiers possessed. With an emphasis on
emotions, missing details of life outside of the war zone, and a connection forged between readers
and soldiers, Private Peaceful leads readers into the story of WWI

Hcpro Relationship
TuMV HcPro interacts with A. thaliana homologue of CqCA (Pathosystem validation) Since the
HcPro CA interaction was established using the ZYMV C. quinoa pathosystem, we first
corroborate the possible interaction of HcPro with the A. thaliana homologue of CqCA
(AtCA1). Both ZYMV and TuMV HcPro (ZHC and TuHC) were transiently co expressed with
AtCA1 in N. benthamiana. ZYMV and TuMV HC Pro were fused with YFP (ZHC YFP and
TuHC YFP respectively) meanwhile AtCA1 was fused with CFP (AtCA1 CFP), proteins
localization was monitored by confocal microscopy. As shown in figure XXX AtCA1 CFP co
localized with both ZHC YFP and TuHC YFP, displaying the relevance of a relationship between
both ZYMV and TuMV HcPro and the A. thaliana homologue of CqCA. Therefore, to validate this
link in the A. thaliana TuMV pathosystem, we conducted bimolecular fluorescence

The official version of the law is the basis on which the law prides itself to be. It claims to be
neutral, having no prejudice against race, sex, gender, or any other distinguishing
characteristics. The law compares itself to a blindfolded woman as historically women who
have been seen as virgins who are pure, uninfluenced, and have no biases. The official version of
the law is bound by one rule and that is everyone is subjected to the law and will be treated
equally under it. Stare Decisis, a well known term to legal scholars is used define how judges are
bound by precedent which means they must treat all cases the same and thus leading to the basis

This showed racism in many ways, one of which clearly indicates that the Aboriginal peoples
were not viewed as smart or privileged enough to make their own decisions. According to Comack
s article (2012) privileged individuals hold positions which are defined as the following:
Grants the cultural authority to make judgment onto others and to have those judgments stick, it
allows people to define reality and to have prevailing definitions of reality fit their experience...in
other words in societies in which white people are the dominant group, whiteness goes unmarked.
Whiteness becomes the unacknowledged norm or standard by which all others are measured (p. 18).
Furthermore, the Canadian law failed to realize that there empowerment over the Aboriginal land
and reserves interfered with the treaties, which the Aboriginal people struggled to enforce. The
government denied the existence of any treaties, which were already in existence.
Although Aboriginal rights are supposedly protected under the Constitution Act of 1867, the law
itself creates racism. This is clearly shown in the Gradual Civilization Act of 1857 where the
Aboriginal people were subjected to discrimination as reservations were created for the Aboriginal
people to live. The law failed to recognize the traditional territories of the reservations that various

Ancient Greek Rituals And War
Mya Hager
Ancient Greek Rituals and War
Rough Draft
Ares and Athena, the god and goddess of war, were influential religious figures for the Ancient
Greek military. They were especially important during rituals and ceremonies prior to soldiers
going to war. They are important in the warriors or soldiers lives because of what role they play in
battle and in rituals. Athena and Ares weren t as important to the soldiers as you would think, but in
some places of battle they were very significant.
Ancient Greek Military
War and Rituals The soldiers that participated in the Greek military were always nervous before
they went into battle, but there weren t many rituals to the god and goddess of war. You would
think that they would be bombarded with all these prayers and wishes, but the men didn t pray to
them as much as would have thought. On the other hand there were of course some rituals
performed by newcomers or new additions to the military. These men performed raging rituals to
help them in battle.
Only men were allowed to be apart of the Greek military because the women and girls didn t have
the ability to handle the certain training and the battle. So because of this the women and girls
stayed home and prayed very strongly to Athena and Ares to keep their men safe and healthy during
battle. The women also prayed for them to return home in good condition and if not in good
condition then at least they would come home.
The men wanted to be victorious and

General Marion a Revolutionary Tactician During the Revolutionary War During the revolutionary war American military officers had to evolve their tactics in order to out maneuver the large British forces to win the war. General Francis Marion would become known as one of the more famous revolutionist of his time. Taxes imposed by the Crown were enacted to recoup expenditures from the French and Indian War, but the American colonist despised the British authorities for their heavy handed tactics (Savas Dameron, 2006). Within the three years prior to revolution, the British government imposed the Sugar Act, Currency Act, and Quartering Act upon the American colonists. The Massachusetts House of Representatives denounced further taxing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the Cherokee nation of an estimated 10,000 people favored the British. However, there was a segment of the population that held the French in higher regard. This was based primarily on their trade relations and the fact that the British had established four settlements deep in Cherokee hunting grounds. The tensions between the British and Cherokee were further inflamed by an accidental massacre when a group of Cherokee warriors were mistaken for those of another tribe. A call went out for British reinforcements and the desire for South Carolina to send its own militia. It was in this militia that Lieutenant Marion now served. As Cherokee Warriors lay in ambush along a narrow pass Lieutenant Marion s South Carolina Ranger Company was chosen to lead the way. Marion s unite was moving north when met by a force of approximately a thousand Cherokees. His unit took severe casualties but cleared a way for the main force to continue its advance. The French and Indian War had done several important things. It cleared the French from North America, establishing the British Empire. It trained colonist in the ways of war by teaching them how to fight for a unified cause, and it created the circumstance that would spark the American Revolution. NFL Protest Observation Fila Bates Patrick Jehle Writing and Rhetoric II November 8, 2017 NFL Protest Observation The American flag represents this so called notion of equality and patriotism, even though it was used alongside with the pledge of allegiance to capitalize on the people s love of the country. The current controversy is that protest at NFL games is not only disrespectful to the country, but is also a disrespect to our armed forces who fought for our constitutional rights, this paper is simply an observation piece that will discuss the various arguments surrounding the NFL protest and will explore people s current feelings toward the silent protest. Many members of the U.S military have come to Collin Kaepernick s defense in the aftermath of the protest. Kellie Johnson a former military personal talk about how the protests are simply representations of their freedom of expression and that people should stop focusing on the anthem and start focusing on the reasons for the protest. She even speculates that majority of people who complain about kneeling are the same ones in the stands of sporting events looking at their phones, which is a form of disrespect to the flag. So, you can start to see that the same people who worship the flag commit actions that devalues its worth in America as well. The factiousness symbolized in the American flag distorts people s perspective of how equality and justice should be upheld in this country. Pai, the Dreams of Two Yi min narrates the story of her Korean American family with the main focus on the life journeys of her father and mother, Do In Kwon and Hee Kyung Lee. Much like the majority of the pre World War II immigrants, the author s family is marked and characterized by the common perception of the typical Asian immigrant status in the early 20th century: low class, lack of English speaking ability, lack of transferable education and skills, and lack of knowledge on the host society s mainstream networks and institutions (Zhou and Gatewood 120, Zhou 224). Since he could not afford to attend a university in Korea, Kwon applied to work on Hawaii s sugar plantations. In 1905, the year that the Korean labor supply to Hawaii was cut off, he successfully immigrated as a seventeen year old sugar plantation laborer with the hopes of fleeing poverty (Pai 4, Takai 238). In rural areas, schooling was structured around agricultural harvesting. Local school boards and superintendents gave students months off so that students could help their parents with harvesting crops and caring for the farm. Unlike their rural counterparts, in the mid 18oos, children in urban areas were subject to year round schooling. Although summer may still be necessary for some families, year round school provides an opportunity to accommodate both sides: year round schooling shortens the summer break in order to maintain retention rates, however it still does allow for a summer break for students to aid their families for harvesting their crops or taking family vacations. It is simply in a more practical and manageable timeframe. For those students not involved in rural work, there is the matter of childcare over the summer. The typical option is summer camps. The American Camp Association has established quite a presence against year round schooling due to the conflict it poses with their schedules (Opheim 399). Yet there is a solution available with year round schooling. Having summer break cut in half will have the children inside learning in school, which cuts ridiculously expensive childcare costs and concerns for parents. Summer camps will still be an option, but they would have to conform to the children s schedules. There will also be the possible option for several camps to occur should alternative schedules be chosen for an overcrowded school. Therefore; Macbeth is describing a sharp dagger, covered in thick blood from its tip to the hilt. One can easily visualize the crime scene and the victim s body after such a dagger has been plunged into it several times. These deep wounds, the length of said dagger, become the points from which King Duncan s lifeblood will spill. This particular description relies on its imagery to reveal the transition from honor to that of pure evil and treachery. No good intent, honor, or victory can attach to such a vile act. It can be seen as a play that is ambiguous; a play that exposes the playwright s own indecision; a play that aggressively takes sides in favour of nationalistic fervour which Shakespeare himself didn t believe in (35). All of these views, writes Rabkin, are wrong since according to him the play s ultimate power lies in its ability to point in two opposite directions, virtually daring us to choose one of the two opposed interpretations (36). These are referred to as LC and RC, or Left Center and Right Center. On large screens, this allows better tracking of dialog and effects, and more creative options for the mixers and director. The original 70mm 6 channel soundtrack had five across the front like 7.1, but no subwoofer and only mono surround. Some people have also suggested LFE: Low Frequency Effects. Typically you use a subwoofer in this application, the point one of 5.1. The United States GINI coefficient, a measure of income inequality, sits at 0.590 one of the highest marks in the entire developed world (4). A majority of wealth sits in the hands of less than one percent of the country and those lucky enough to fall under this percentage are catered to by politicians in search of reelection. Distributive economic justice requires that every individual should have the moderate income needed for the basic necessities while commutative economic justice requires that the price of commodities be set at an agreed upon standard of equity (Macpherson 7). Minimum wage serves as a tool for distributive economic justice as it ensures that citizens have the means for basic sustenance while the free market system serves as a tool for commutative economic justice as its grants largely unrestricted access for both consumers and producers. To date, most of the research regarding economic justice has supported distributive theories because the main requirement for commutative economic justice, equality of access, is limited by uncontrollable forces like geography, race, and gender, which can all prevent access to economic systems (Armour ... Sometimes, the intensity of stress causes anxiety or frustration. Which is why for the most part, stress is taken as a negative impact on an individual. Whether that stress comes from school, money, environment, work or all of them, everyone walks the same path of stress sometimes without even realizing it. Although many people perceive stress in a negative way, there s some surprising benefits of stress that we are not aware of. It all comes down to the basic element of what stress is. Stress is an anticipated feeling someone gets when they get into any trouble or difficulty. The human body reacts physically to any stressor that comes across. For example, our body has two important systems that play a role sympathetic nervous systemand parasympathetic system. The parasympathetic system is known as a rest and digest response in which hormones send adrenaline and other transmitters to your body. On the other hand, the sympathetic nervous systemis known as a fight or flight response in which it uses that adrenaline in order to react quickly. Therefore, both these symptoms react to any stressor that can prepare the human body for anything that might come across, physically and mentally. (Grant n.p.) Stress can benefit us in many ways. • 36. The Day the Music Began Legendary composer Leonard Bernstein once said, This will be our reply to violence: to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before (Leonard Bernstein Quotes). This statement describes the exact response of musicians to the assassination of the young American President, John F. Kennedy. Toward the end of his third year of presidency, Kennedy was shot and killed in a parade in Dallas, Texas. Americans were shocked to have lost such a promising young leader, and a somber silence swept across the nation as Americans lamented his death; this silence, however, was broken by the melancholy music of mourning (Baldacci). The assassination of President John F. Kennedy started a new movement of music that was inspired by the tragedy and differed in structure from previous music. November 22, 1963, the day President Kennedy was assassinated, is occasionally referred to as the day the music stopped , but in reality the music had just begun (Baldacci). Approximately 2,500 people were attending a Boston Symphony Orchestra concert when they heard the news of their leader s passing. After many gasps the audience stood in hushed reverence for their fallen president, and the musicians began to perform a movement from Beethoven s 3rd Symphony: a funeral march (Inverne). African Americans have contributed literature, agricultural skills, foods, clothing, dance, and language to American culture. There are distinctive patterns of language use among African Americans that arose as creative responses to the hardships imposed on the African American community. Slave owners forced African Americans to create a language that allowed them to communicate effectively with one another. Slaves were not allowed the opportunity to read and write because most slave owners thought they would find a way to buy their freedom if they knew how to read and write. • 39. Summary Of The Short Story The Shawl By Langston Hughes In the short story, The Shawl by Cynthia Ozick, the symbol of the Shawl changes over the course of the story. For Magda, the protagonist who is a baby, the shawl represents protection and nurturing. Once Magda dies, however, the shawl represents mourning and emptiness for Rosa, Magda s mother. Similarly, in the short story, Thank you, Ma am by Langston Hughes the blue suede shoessymbolize varying ideas as the story develops. Initially, Roger, the protagonist, has a desire which is not met, to own blue suede shoes, the shoes therefore, represent a feeling of lacking. Later in the story Roger is given money to buy the shoes, at which point the shoes begin to represent his needs being met. Both Ozick and Hughes use accessories as symbols to illustrate the protagonists transitioning between gaining and lacking proper nourishment. The shawl provides Magda with sustenance and protection, which allows Magda to provide these same benefits for Rosa. In describing the shawl, Ozick writes, It was a magical shawl, it could nourish an infant for three days and three night . While the shawl provides Magda with all the nutrients she needs to survive, Magda helps Rosa feel satisfied, despite giving her food rations to Magda. Rosa gains these crucial necessities indirectly from the shawl through Magda, while Magda, on the other hand, benefits directly from the shawl. For both Magda and Rosa the shawl, in providing them with the sustenance they need, symbolizes them having their basic needs met. Once Magda dies, however, the shawl symbolizes an emptiness and dearth of nourishment. During her life, the shawl provides for Magda, which allows Rosa to reap benefit also, but once Magda dies, and the shawl no longer provides sustenance. Ozick writes, Rosa drank Magda s shawl until it dried . The shawl dries up quickly, in contrast to the constant, never ending nourishment that the shawl possessed prior to Magda s death. The dried up shawl symbolizes Rosa s lacking. Before Magda died Rosa s needs were met through Magda, however, now that Magda is gone Rosa no longer has those needs met. Students are not brought into the world of WWI through a connection they may feel to those left behind, or those risking their lives on the battlefield, but rather faced with statistical reports to be regurgitated. Topics such as heartbreak and the loss a family feels when finding out their son have been killed in war are not highlighted throughout a typical history book. In the novel, Private Peaceful, by Michael Morpurgo, readers are given a glimpse into the life of soldiers before the war along with the heartache and loss felt when a comrade, or brother, finds death on the battlefield. The story is told from the viewpoint of Tommo Peaceful as he reflects on the life he left behind while at war. His brother Charlie was also with him in the war and through their relationship, readers are given a story of the war that highlights the humanity and love soldiers possessed.
