Is Okonkwo Sympathetic
Is Okonkwo s family relationships make him a sympathetic or unsympathetic character? There are
many interactions that Okonkwo has with his family. Such as his first, second, and third wife, and
all of his kids. Most of these interactions were negative interactions as it seems like his family is
afraid of him but some were still positive. It may seem like Okonkwohates his familybut he doesn t,
he really loves his family. Okonkwo is a sympathetic character and there are a couple of characters
that can prove this.
One family member/character that Okonkwo interacts with is Nwoye. Nwoye is one of the
characters that proves Okonkwo is a sympathetic character. An excerpt from the story said,
Okonkwo s first son, Nwoye, was then twelve years old but was already causing his father great
anxiety for his incipient laziness. At any rate, that was how it looked to his father, and he sought to
correct him by constant nagging and beating, And so Nwoye was developing into a sad faced
youth. Nwoye proves that his father (Okonkwo) is a sympathetic character because Okonkwo wants
to spend his time disciplining Nwoye in an attempt to turn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Ezinma proves Okonkwo to be sympathetic because of his actions towards her, of what he does
and doesn t do to her. Ekwefi and her only daughter, Ezinma, sat near the fireplace waiting for the
water in the pot to boil. Ekwefi, she said, Is it true that when people are grown up, fire does not
burn them? Ezinma unlike most children, called her mother by her name. This shows that
Okonkwo was sympathetic towards towards Ezinma because Ezinma was very close to her
family, especially her mother. She even called her mother by her name instead of calling her
mother which just proves how close she was to her family. Okonkwo sometimes had thought and
wished Ezinma was a boy because since she is a perfect daughter he thinks if she is a boy than she

Argumentative Essay On Self Reliance
Everyone in life has at least one person who has strongly influenced them in one way or another,
but what if that influence ended up being hurtful? In the essay Self Reliance by Ralph Emerson,
Emerson gives his advice on how to live independently. Emerson says self reliance is to trust
oneself and believe in oneself. He states that this is important because being self reliant leads to
a successful path in life. By having individual ideas one will end up doing something she or he
wants to do in life which causes success for that individual. He discusses how the only person
one needs to listen to in life is oneself and that no other person should influence one s life. I
believe there are people in this world that can have a negative influence on one s life, but also
people that can have a positive influence. For example, in basketballmy positive influences
(parents, teammates, and coaches) help me to succeed in a team sport. Emerson begins his
article by talking about the importance of self reliance. He defines self reliance as thinking for
oneself and not letting anyone else influence one in any way, shape, or form. As a human being
this may be one of the most difficult tasks. Emerson explains that being self reliant can be
difficult especially for adults because they are too worried about their reputations and how
others will look upon them. Emerson also says, Trust thyself (2). Emerson believes that one
should go with his or her gut in everything she or he does. Even if what she or he wants to do
goes against the thoughts of others she or he still needs to pursue his or her dreams. The last thing
Emerson wants people to do is be embarrassed of what others will think of themselves. People need
to throw away others thoughts and opinions and follow one s own.
Emerson also believes that one can be great through being self reliant. He says, To be great is to
be misunderstood (7). This tells one that if others seem to be judging or confused on what one is
doing with his or her life, one should ignore the others, and continue to follow what she or he
believes. Emerson explains that if one is misunderstood by others that she or he is on the path to
success. For example, when Jesus followers were

Aggregate Production Plan Riordan s goals are to reduce costs by 10% and cycle time by 15%.
This is increasingly difficult because Riordan has multiple products with varying demands,
multiple prices, and capacity requirements. Riordan will use its forecasted sales figures to build a
materials and production schedule for 2007 and beyond if needed. This plan must take into
consideration existing inventory and resources as well as planned changes. For this plan to be
effective, it must be followed closely and clear checkpoints must be defined to provide the
flexibility needed to hit cost reduction and cycle time improvement goals.
Master Production Schedule The existing production schedule will be maximized with the use of a
Materials Requirement Planning System. To determine an acceptable feasible schedule to be
released to the shop, trial master production schedules are run through the MRP program. The

James Montgomery Flagg
There are many pieces in modern design that hold my interest. One of the most interesting pieces
of art in modern design is James Montgomery Flagg s I Want You for U.S. Army poster (James
Montgomery Flagg. I Want You for the U.S. Army, Lithograph, 1917. Library of Congress Prints
and Photographs Division Washington, D.C.). While Flagg s piece aims to encourage people to
take some action according to the current war, it is also very easily understood by the text that is
intertwined. Much like the I Want You for U.S. poster, Julius Klinger s 8th War Bond poster (Julius
Klinger. Kriegsanleihe, Lithograph. Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division
Washington, D.C. ) is directed towards the same intent through a different approach. While... Show

Although Flagg s poster shows his intent through the text, Klinger s poster is much less
straightforward and could be hard to understand if the viewer was not from the same country or
culture as Klinger. Unlike Flagg s traditional color scheme in his poster, Klinger uses
complementary colors to enhance the contrast between the red figure eight and the green
snakelike figure in the center of the poster. Klinger s poster also does not rely on its colors to
represent its purpose. Instead of relying on the color scheme, Klinger s poster relies on its figure
such as the snake and the number to be the main focus of his piece. The arrows going through
the snake give the idea that revenge or anger is toward someone. The top part of the 8 wrapped
around the head of the snake also gives the idea of someone being trapped or a very concerning
situation. Unlike Flagg s poster, Klinger s poster seems to take up much more space but does not
have a lot of detail or other figures placed in the background. Klinger s poster is much more
simplistic in the tone of the piece. There is very little, if any, value changes that show the
rigidness and seriousness compared to Flagg s piece. Although Klinger relies on its two
dimensional form, the items such as the arrows and the figure eight rely on each other in
combination as a whole to depict the message. Much like Flagg s work, the message or context
could be lost if the viewer did not speak the same language or was not from the same country.
Klinger s piece captures both simplicity with its two dimensional style and complexity with its

Women have always been treated lesser than men and by looking at other cultures we see that
woman have little or no power compared to men. Men have always been seen as the dominant
gender. Countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Nepal, and many other
countries, women are treated less than men. Some of these countries won t let women get an

countries, women who don t get married young get sold to human traffickers. And in most of these

Education And The World Of Physical Education
In the last few decades there has been a disconnect in the world of Physical Education. The stigma
that physical educators bare has brought misunderstanding to parents and kids alike. The
importance of health and even the education of basic motor skills has been substituted for
standardized testing, and PE classes are further cut away in schoolbudgets due to a lack of
awareness. Studies have proven on multiple occasions that there is a very strong correlation
between more physical educationand higher test scores. Giving children the chance to release
energy and have fun in a safe environment is extremely important in their future development.
The foundation for physical education branches from Movement Education, which teaches kids to
develop motor skills and coordination that are the building blocks for all physical activities
whether it be sports or just throwing a ball. Movement education is an important theme to teach the
pre K and elementary age group. At this time period, children are just learning to control their
bodies in a mindful way, and reinforcing the ideas of a mind and body connection will help them
further develop their skills. One of the key components of movement education is the involvement
with students. There are no teams or scores, and a movement education activity often combines
several motor skills into a game or objective.
Movement Education has been more so phased out in modern teaching environments. The peak in
popularity of movement education

Legal Services And The Legal Profession
The Legal Services Board was created under the Legal Services Act 2007 to promote particular
principles within the legal profession, one of these being to encourage an independent, strong,
diverse and effective legal profession . An important aspect of this is the idea of a diverse
profession; is this really an issue which can be resolved within the profession, or does the
encouragement of diversity have to begin right at the start of a person s legal education? In this
essay I will discuss different ways in which attempts have been made to improve diversity within
the legal profession and how effective these have been. I will then discuss the importance of law
school in shaping the attitudes and values of the legal minds in this... Show more content on

It cannot be denied that the situation has improved drastically, for instance, between 1978 and
2008 there was an increase of 332% in the number of female solicitors. However there is still a
long way to go to achieve a truly diverse legal profession, for example, in 2008, a study found
that out of solicitors who had entered the profession 10 19 years ago, 77% of men had reached
partner whereas only 48% of women had. This is not a problem limited to England and Wales,
and the President of the American Bar Association has argued that the first step towards a more
diverse legal profession is to develop our understanding of the roots of discrimination . According
to feminist scholar Carrie Menkel Meadow, unless we can radically alter legal education, we will
not be able to reconstruct our legal system or our society . The parity in numbers of male and
female solicitors that become partners mentioned above is often explained away, and there is a
common refusal to accept that this is a result of in house discrimination. Instead, male domination
of the more lucrative specialties...so important for promotion is said to be due to the discriminatory
behaviour of clients (though why such requests are endorsed remains to be seen). Sommerlad and
Sanderson have argued that even today the legal profession remains a masculine domain.

My Career At Robert Bosch
Throughout my career at Robert Bosch, I have been exposed to functionality of products like
Anti Lock Braking Systems, Electronic Stability Program, Airbags and other Electronic Control
Units. The fact that an average car has 60 different embedded units performing various
functions, sharing information over networks like CAN or FLEXRAY, has always amazed me.
This exposure has inculcated a passion in me to gain more knowledge in the design and
development of embedded systems. I completed my undergraduate degree in Electrical and
Electronics. I was motivated to choose this field of study due to a previous attempt at
implementing a cell phone controlled robot that worked on decoding DTMF signals. The choice
paid off when after gaining some knowledge about microcontrollers in my first year, I managed
to get the robot up and running. The satisfaction gained has always been a motivational factor in
my career decisions. I believe my keen interest developed through projects as well as my basic
professional experience in the embedded domain will help me actively participate in UCLA s
graduate program in Electrical Engineering, with focus on Embedded Systems.
I received my undergraduate degree from Amrita Vishwavidyapeetham University, where my key
interests were subjects like Microcontrollers, Digital Systems, Control Systems, Analog Electronic
and Drives. My degree program involved a mix of course work and lab work. While the concepts

BOOK CRITIQUE of Beck, James R., ed. Two Views on Women in Ministry Revised 2nd ed.
Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2005. Systematic Theology II THEO 530 B07 Fall 2012

This book looks at the ever present controversial topic of women in ministry. Since the 1990 s and
what has been called the third wave of feminism, 1 men and women have been advocating gender
equality in society.2 The theological implications of this have resulted with the question of whether
or not limits should be placed on the leadership roles of women in the church. There are two

One weakness in her essay appears as a contradiction in her scholarly style of arguments. There are
certain times where a historical background is presented to enhance her points that are not
specifically mentioned in the bible, i.e. the Artemis cult8, although she cites outside sources for the
information. Another weakness, I found, was the great extent of the lexical and contextual analysis
and the constant criticism of what she considered the traditionalist s main arguments. Craig S.
Keener Keener uses a totally different approach to this subject than Bellevue, even though they are
both have egalitarian views on women s ministry. He admits in a note that this essay is intended
for a more general audience because a detailed documentation for the points he is making can be
found in several articles and a previously written book.9 Although claiming to be an egalitarian, he
qualifies his view in this essay by the biblical prohibition of women under exceptional
circumstances. This exceptional circumstance is in Paul s letter to Timothy which addresses a
specific situation of false teachers targeting women, causing disunity in the church.10 Without
having to go into an in depth analysis of scripture, Keener looks at the biblical evidence for women
s ministry and the biblical evidence possibly against women s ministry. Keener uses the classical
historical cultural and contextual analysis in presenting his essay

However, once you begin to play, there was a very noticeable affect on the majority of children.
My granddaughter does not self regulate well and can be become extremely hyperactive,
without knowing when to slow down. She does not communicate well (mainly because she is 4
years old), her intensity seemed to alienate her from the other children. Out of the approximate
15 children, there was only two (one girl and one boy) who were not affected by her different

with two children who seemed want to play and interact with her. My granddaughter is very
friendly (always with a smile on her face) however, the children noticed her differences and were
either afraid or alienated her. Although, it tears at your heart to see her alienated (especially

Examples Of Persuasive Speech On Domestic Violence Awareness

Speech Title: Love Should Not Hurt: Domestic Violence Awareness
General Purpose: To persuade
Specific Purpose: To persuade my audience to increase domestic violence awareness
Organizational Pattern: Monroe s Motivated Sequence
INTRODUCTION:
(1) Attention Getting Device: According to an article titled Don t Believe in the War On Women?
Would a Body Count Change Your Mind? , since September 11, 2001 more American women
were killed by an intimate partner than all of the victims of 9/11 and all of the American military
fatalities in Iraq and Afghanistan combined (Gidfar, 2012). One woman is fatally shot by a spouse,
ex spouse or dating partner every 14 hours, states Wright (2016) from the U.S. Department of
Defense, and these are just the statistics for women, but domestic violence happens to men, as well,
but less often.
(2) Thesis Statement: Everyone in this room has a voice. We can take a stand and use our voice to
educate ourselves and others on healthy relationships and decrease the number of women and men
who are victims of domestic violence.
(3) Justification: It does not just happen to other people or certain kinds of people (Day, 2016). It
can happen to our sisters. It can happen to our brothers. It can happen to our friends. It can happen
to our peers. It can happen to people we love (Repetition). Nearly three fourths of Americans know

Angina Pectoris Case Analysis
Angina pectoris is a term used to describe the syndrome of chest pain resulting from myocardial
ischemia (Griffin et al., 2008). Normal non ischemic myocardial tissues differ from the cardiac
tissue of an individual with myocardial ischemia because the normal tissue has adequate blood
supply whereas the tissue in angina has inadequate bloodsupply from blocked coronary arteries.
Unstable angina is diagnosed when ischemia is neither severe nor prolongs for more than 20
minutes and regularly occurs at rest (Sami Willerson, 2010). Patients who have unstable angina
are at a high risk for a new infarction and its sequelae such as cardiac death until the endothelial

It can be caused by a reduction in coronary artery luminal diameter. According to Wilensky (2012),
the artery luminal narrowing can stem from progressive atherosclerotic intrusion into the lumen or
by sudden acute vasoconstriction or thrombus. In normal development, the individual does not
develop angina because the lumen of the coronary arteries are patent without occlusion from
atherosclerotic plaques, vasoconstriction or thrombus. The onset of symptoms is sudden when
thrombus formation is the direct cause of unstable angina. Following the onset of symptoms,
unstable angina progresses rapidly and ends in severe symptoms at rest. The rupture of a vulnerable

Capacity of the Mentally Ill to Conclude Contracts
Explain the law relating to the mentally ill to conclude contracts and consider why these rules exist.
Introduction
A contract is a legally binding agreement between two or more persons that is recognised by the
courts. In order for an agreement to be legally binding there are certain criteria that have to be
met. One of these criteria is capacity. The majority of us have the capacity to form a legally
binding agreement, however certain categories of people are limited by law to make contracts the

Necessaries will depend largely on the individual circumstances and requirements of the
individual but the following general categories include Food and Drink, Clothing, Board and
Lodging, Funeral Expenses and Medical Aid, however the burden of showing not only that the
goods were suitable to the condition in life of the individual but also that they were suitable to
their actual requirements at the time of the sale and delivery, rests upon the supplier of the goods.
Consequently, where an individual has already been sufficiently supplied with the goods in
question, even though this fact is not known to the supplier, the contract will not be a binding one.
A comparison can be drawn in the case of Nash v Inman [1908] a tailor supplied a Cambridge
student who was a minor at the time with clothing which included eleven fancy waistcoats. The
claimant in this case sued the defendant for the price of the clothes, at court the claimant s father a
man of means gave evidence that the defendant was at the time in sufficient supply of clothing. The
court held that the tailor had failed to prove that the clothes supplied to the defendant were indeed
necessaries and that the claim was bound to fail because of this reason. (Elliott Quinn 2007 pg63)
Conclusion This essay has shown that persons certified as insane under the Mental Health act 1983
section 3 can never make a valid contract, however persons with a mental illness can

The metaphorical fence in the play by August Wilson Fences connects to the characters in the sense

Even when the family is at their lowest this fence has been the center of it all. Troys fences is that

Kosciuszko Bridge
Introduction The Kosciuszko bridge, named after the Polish American patriot Tadeusz
Kosciuszko, is the bridge that carries the Brooklyn Queens Expressway across Newtown Creek,
and is situated between Brooklyn and Queens. The current bridge carries over 160,000 vehicles
every day, and it is recognized as being essential infrastructure for commerce on both a local and
regional scale. The bridge is 75 years old, and has been continually maintained by New York State
Department of Transportation (NYSDOT). In 2014, the state announced that a new bridge would
be built by the frim Skanska Kiewit and ECCO III with the goal of reducing congestion, improving
travel speeds, and improving traffic safety on this stretch of the BrooklynQueensExpressway.
Governor Cuomo provided an initial $555 million, which is the largest single contract in NYSDOT
s history. The following report covers the project in detail, and will include information on the
background, location, justification, planning and schedule, public scope, environmental impact, and
implications for the project.
Background
Construction on the Kosciuszko Bridge was completed in 1939, prior to the construction of the
Brooklyn Queens Expressway (BQE) and the Long Island Expressway (LIE). Over the past 75
years, NYSDOT has poured considerable resources into the maintenance of the bridge, ... Show

Structural Weakness in the Hull of the Titanic
Abstract
This document will explore the structural weakness in the hull of the RMS Titanic. I will also
explore the background information and different types of modern day steels compared to that of
the hull of the RMS Titanic. After research, I will report these events and my findings in formal
report format.
All the information I find about the weaknesses of the hull will be reported using information
from a number of sources. They will be referenced using the Harvard referencing system in the
document. They will be used and referenced from in chronological order in the typical report
style format. The references will be listed in alphabetical order at the end of this report document.
This document will be laid out using headers to divide up the different sections that I will explore
and report on. All the sections will be explored and described to cover the information required to
report upon the topic of this account. The main sections I will explore will be an Introduction and
about the RMS Titanic s maiden voyage, an analysis of the materials used in the construction of the
RMS Titanic, the effects that temperature has on the materials especially metals, the different
compositions of the steels and how that effects the material s properties and I will also be
comparing the steels used in the construction of the RMS Titanic s hull with the steel used to

Qualities of a Strong Teenage Girl
Qualities of a Strong Teenage Girl
Being a teenage girl, I know what it is like to be let down, put down, and feel completely alone.
But I also know what it takes to get back up, be courageous, and fight. One quality a teenage girl
must have is courage. Courage to stand up for yourself and others. To succeed, a teenage girl must
have smarts. Street smarts as well as book smarts are important. However, one quality that most
teenage girls have is a carelessly open heart; letting anyone in that tries. These qualities of a
teenage girl may lead her to heartbreak and emotional struggles, but overall can contribute to a
successful life. The first quality an adolescent girl must have to succeed, is courage. One reason for
this quality is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She may do this because she wants to feel loved and needed. This leads to my second reason
which is the motivation of her partner. He may be looking to take advantage of her and wishes
to leave her heartbroken. When the partner realizes the girl s despiration, he feels a position of
power and can further take advantage of her; body and soul. Through my experience, I hear how
girls can be taken advantage of, and move from partner to partner as a reaction. Avoiding a
broken heart can be accomplished by having a strong heart that is selective and strives for mutual
and balanced commitment. A final reason for a teenage girl to be cautious with her heart is in
connection to her self worth. When a girl gets her heart broken, she may feel intense loneliness, or
she may look quickly for someone else to love and care for in order to avoid or fill the void of
emotional pain. She may start feeling negatively about herself and her body and believe she will
never be good enough. This poor self image can lead to severe depression and self harm. Many
times, this heartache happens because a girl lets someone into her life without boundaries, or
standards and once she realize this, she can feel defeated. For these reasons, having an open heart
without using intelligence is a dangerous combination for a teenage girl. As you can see by the
reasons above, teenage girls must have intelligence and courage to be successful.

Public Relations ( Pr )
2.0 Introduction
Public Relations (PR) is a multifaceted function that plays a role in nearly every organisation in
today s society (Wilcox et al., 2013). Due to its complex nature, the definition of PR has changed
considerably over the past 70 years (Ledingham Bruning, 1998). This report aims to analyse how
PR can specifically support the DMD Foundation to achieve its awareness and fundraising
objectives. A common definition of PR will be examined, breaking down its key elements, followed
by a discussion regarding the overarching role of PR within organisations, specifically in the non
profit sector, highlighting the positive impact that PR could have on the DMD Foundation.
Discussion
3.1 Defining Public Relations
The subsequent definition aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the key elements
involved within the functions of the PR sector.
Public relations is the management function which evaluates public attitudes, identifies the policies
and procedures of an individual or an organisation with the public interest, and plans and executes a
program of action to earn public understanding and acceptance.
(Public Relations News, as cited in Grunig Hunt, 1984)
PR as a management function serves to promote the importance of PR departments within an
organisation (Gordon, 1997) and brings to the decision making table theories born of ongoing
research and data to drive organisational decisions (Smith, 2014). For example, modern PR is

Themes In Inheritance Of Loss
Inheritance of loss, is a moving novel by Indian writer Kiran Desai, whereby we see the effect of
colonialism and post colonialism and the consequence that comes with it. Many critical themes are
explored, Leach lists them as colonialism, a revolution, multi ethnic nationhood and illegal
immigration in the US, where political allegiance impacts on love affairs, and where the reality of
life in a grubby New York basement reshapes the American Dream (2007). Desai mentions many of
these historical events in her novel that give us and insight view as to what was happening in the
inside, within the people of India, as opposed to only seeing the surface and elections going on.
Desai looks at the younger generation as being mainly affected by losing their identity to the
suppression of the Europeanized world. The novel is set in primarily in the 1980 s, but makes
mention of earlier times when the Congress Party was sparking up as well. These were crucial times

suffering. Martin, a loving and understanding husband must deal with his family s problems. Martin

the book. In the book, Holden constantly states how other people don t understand the world

Taking a Look at the Britannia Panopticon
The Britannia Panopticon is not the sort of heritage you walk about gazing at while thinking, Isn t
that pretty , admitted the music hall s preservation director Judith Bowers. She claims that a truly
restored Panopticon would have to reflect its thousand strong poor and even rough audience, paying
tribute to the folk who frequented the theatreover its long history.
The Panopticon was built in 1857 on the site of an old warehouse by the partnership of little
known architect Thomas Gildard and his brother in law H.M. McFarlane. The building, which was
born as a music hall and can be counted among the first to get electricity in Glasgow, became one
of the earliest establishments to be put into moving picture. It also housed freak shows, carnivals,
waxworks and even an indoor zoo attracting a diverse audience. It came to be called a people s
theatre in the hands of its most notable owner A.E. Pickard a notorious business man, millionaire
and quite the eccentric person. Unblemished or nearly intact purpose built theatres from an early
age are extremely rare in Britain. This is due to the fact that theatres that were failing financially
were razed by the dozens in order to sell the land. Even financially successful theatres were razed so
that they could be rebuilt bigger and better. Consequently, Britannia Music Hall, one of the few
remaining examples of a nineteenth century music hall, is worth restoration and preservation. Other

Cross sex relationships are becoming increasingly more popular than ever before. According to
Schoonover and McEwan of Predicting the audience challenge in cross sex friendships, men
and women have complimenting communication styles and this is what makes cross sex
friendships so appealing as it grows to be more accepted (Schoonover, McEwan, 2014). In
analyzing the benefits for both sexes, the most significant challenges, and the cultural or societal

can be a very rewarding relationship. Who Benefits More Both men and women are able to reap
the benefits of cross sex friendships because they are given insight into unfamiliar territory.
Seeking advice about the opposite sex with a friend who is of the same sex does not always give

have too many male friends may be seen as promiscuous in this society because it is not a good
look to spend too much time with men alone. This double standard is why women may not benefit
from maintaining many cross sex relationships. For this reason, men have the greatest benefit for
maintaining cross sex relationships which is why they may be known to engage in them more
frequently. Men Men benefit from cross sex friendships because they seek out female

she was merely eighteen years old that would change her life forever. The accident occurred
when a trolley crashed in to the small wooden bus she was riding in. The accident which nearly
killed her, left Kahlo partially invalid which including three broken places to her spinal column,
a broken collarbone, two broken ribs, three broken places to her pelvis, eleven fractures in her

her in the uterus exiting through her vagina leaving her unable to bear children. Due to this

taxation for the government to accumulate money. There are many factors that play into the
complexity of the system which developed the processes of the federal income taxtoday.
Understanding this financial system requires a level of insight into the layers of information
that the federal income tax entails. Taxation in America has always been a huge factor of
societal and governmental focus. The nation started with a hatred for taxes dating back to the
tax burden placed on the American colonies by Great Britain. Early in its history, America had
few very few taxes. However, it became the major source of revenue for the United States
government. The War of 1812 created a higher need for taxation, and initiated the nation s first
sales taxes which were placed on gold, silverware, jewelry, and watches. But in 1817 the internal
taxes were repealed, and the government relied on tariffs on imported goods for funds. Once
again, the onset of war generated a necessity of greater revenue, and in 1862, during the civil war,
the nation s first income tax was enacted. This income tax was the foundation to

rules of another. At this age children have a sense of moral realism. This means that they believe
all elements of morality such as rules and punishments come from an external source and exist in
their own right. Due to this they see things as clearly right or wrong as they are told is the case.
From the age of 10 the moralityof a child is autonomous. Autonomous means this is where the
starts to believe that they are subject to one s own laws and rules. This stage involves moral
relativism. This is where the child starts to understand that rules come from social relationships and
they know the importance of taking other peoples opinions into account. Piaget stated that the move

Kohlberg believed that we must have an understanding of justice as that represents the most
fundamental moral principle. Kohlberg gave a group of subjects a number of moral dilemma s
between 2 or more moral principles and asked them to choose between them. The dilemma s used
involved 10 universal moral issues which were punishment, property, law, roles and concerns of
affection, authority, life, liberty, distributive justice, sex and truth. From this experiment Kohlberg
formulated this theory of moral development.
Kohlberg s theory of moral development involved three levels with each level having two stages.
The earlier of these levels are consistent to Piaget s stages of cognitive development. The three
levels in Kohlberg s theory are the pre †conventional included up to and above the age of 9,
The conventional model which included most adolescents and adults and finally the post
conventional level which includes about 20% of adults according to Shaver and Strong over the
age of 20. Each of these levels have two stages which are stage 1 is the punishment and obedience
orientation and stage 2 Is the instrumental †relativist orientation this are the stages involved in
the pre conventional level. Stage

Game Theory In Water Resource Management
1. Introduction
Water resources management is involved with various beneficiaries that may have conflicting
interests (Veeren Tol 2003; Wei et al. 2010). Game theory based models have been used in water
resources management to address water conflicts and are recognized as appropriate methods (Wei
et al. 2010). Game theory and its mathematical background were proposed and used in economics
for the first time by Neumann and Morgenstern (1953). Different forms of games have been
suggested by many researchers to address water conflicts alongside other conflict resolution
methods such as Graph Model for Conflict Resolution (GMCR) (Kilgour 1995), Adjusted Winner
(Massoud 2000), and Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (Giordano et al. 2005). Game theory based ... Show

Many studies using game theory based methods have been carried out in water related fields
and, most importantly, in water resources management. Rogers (1969) applied a range of
strategies in the mold of cooperative game theory between India and Pakistan over flood control
issues of lower Ganges and Brahmaputra rivers. Young et al. (1982) compared the separable
costs remaining benefits (SCRB) method with simple proportional allocation schemes such as
Shapley value and Variants of the core, both belong to cooperative games family. Dinar et al.
(1992) used cooperative game theory to question reasonableness and acceptability of cooperation
in the use of irrigation water. Parrachino et al. (2006) published a review of different applications
of cooperative game theory considering various water uses such as multi objective water projects,
irrigation, groundwater, hydropower, urban water supply, sewage disposal and transboundary water
disputes. Raquel et al. (2007) applied game theory to a groundwater conflict in Mexico and tried to
balance benefits from agricultural production with negative environmental impacts among 12
alternative groundwater extraction scenarios. Mahjouri and Ardestani (2011) developed
cooperative and non cooperative models for a large scale water allocation problem

Taking a Look at Ai Weiwei
Ai Weiwei, a Chinese contemporary artist as well as a political activist was born in Beijing on
May 18, 1957. When Ai was only one year old him and his family were sent to a labor camp. It
was not for sixteen years later at the end of the Cultural Revolution until his family moved back to
Beijing. He studied animation at the BeijingFilm Academy in 1978. After his studies he spent
about twelve years in the United States and studied at the Parsons School of Design where he
soon dropped out. For income he became a street artist, doing drawings on the side. When his
father had become sick in 1993, Ai returned to Beijing from New York City. He then became the
artist director and co founder of the China Art Achieves and Warehouse. This is about the time
when some controversial pieces are now starting to come about. In 1993, Ai Weiweithen had
moved to the North side of China in a town called Coachanghdi, this is where he started to do
architectural work, including his studio house. This is when he founded the FAKE design, which
is an architectural studio. Ai s biggest controversial issue is when he was arrested on false tax
evasions and detained for three months. After his arrest Ai Weiwei is no longer permitted to leave
China and is under tight security by the Chinese government. He is not allowed to leave the country
because he is under other criminal investigations, which include pornography, illegal exchange of
foreign currency, and bigamy. Everyone in support of him is

The Wonderful Bedroom Essay
The Wonderful Bedroom
Have you ever wondered how something so simple as your bedroom could have so much
meaning? How a place where one usually just sleeps and doesn t return until the next night, could
be so special to someone? It does make one think, once stopped and thought about. To some, it
means as much as a gym does to a basketball player or as much as a tree does to a monkey. But then
there are also those who still think of their bedroom as just a place to sleep and prepare themselves.
I guess things have different meanings for each person, but for many including myself, their
bedroom ranks near the top of the list. A bedroom is meaningful because often it is where one
grows up, where lots of time is spent, and where one can ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

And what could possibly be a more relaxing place than your own room? It s amazing how one can
concentrate so well in their room, unlike a college student who may have trouble trying to focus
through all of the distractions.
Not only is the bedroom a perfect place to sleep and study, but what if you just want to get away
and relax? In your room, you get to control things for yourself, such as the temperature. It s not
like outside where you can t do anything about the weather, but rather, you choose how cool or
warm you want it. You get to make your bed as comfortable as you wish. This is your space, it s
not fit for anybody else s needs but your own. Ever try and watch what you want on TV while
there are four other members of your family fighting to grab control of the same thing? Well, I
have the perfect solution. Move the TV in your own room and lock the door. It s wonders how
many more opportunities you have when you have your own room. I ve always had my own
room and pretty much take it for granted. I always have the option of taking a nap in peace and
quiet since I have never had to share. The list of positives is endless when it comes to having your
own room
A final and probably the greatest factor of all is the individuality of one s room. This is what
declares the difference from one person s room to the next. It brings out one s character and
personality. Usually, you can tell how a person is by some factors

Brave New World Christ Figure Quotes
Jesus Christ is known for his brave and selfless personality as well as his crucifixion due to his
pure and unorthodox thoughts and actions. Due to Christ s heroic personality, authors often
highlight their literary work s character s heroism with Christ personality traits. In Aldus Huxley s
Brave New World, it is evident that the Christ figure is John the Savage. John is often shown re
enacting Christ s crucifixion to purify his soul. [He] held [his hands] in voluntary crucifixion,
while he repeated, through clenched teeth, Oh, forgive me! Oh, make me pure, (Huxley 244). John
is portrayed as a character that deeply believes in punishing oneself because of his/her sins. He is
willing to through painful experiences simply to cleanse his soul.

Kim By Rudyard Kipling
Rudyard Kipling s Kim
Kim gives a vivid picture of the complexities in India under British rule. It shows the life of the
bazaar mystics, of the natives, of the British military. There is a great deal of action and
movement, for Kipling s vast canvas painted in full detail. The dialogue in the novel makes use of
Indian phrases translated by the author, they give the flavor of native speech in India. They are also
touches of the native behavior and shrewdness.
Setting:
The time the novel took place was around the late nineteenth century. The story takes place in a hot
and dry location of British India. Most of the scenes either take place in the wilderness or the
streets of India.
Plot:
Kim grew up on the streets of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Father Victor arrived in time to see the papers. When Kim had told his story, he was informed that
he would be sent away to school. Kim parted sadly from the lama, sure, however that he would
soon escape. The lama asked that Father Victor s name, address, and the costs of schooling Kim,
be written down and given to him. Then he disappeared. Kim pretending to prophesy, told the
priests what he had heard at Umballa. They and the soldiers laughed at him. But the next day his
prophecy came true, eight thousand soldiers were sent to put down an uprising in the north.
Kim remained in camp. One day a letter arrived in camp from the lama. He enclosed enough
money for Kim s first year of school and promised to provide that amount yearly. He requested
that the boy be sent to Saint Xavier s for his education. Meanwhile the drummer who was keeping
an eye on Kim was cruel to his charge. When Ali came upon the two boys, he gave the drummer a
beating and began talking to Kim. While they were thus engaged, Colonel Creighton came up and
learned from Ali, in an indirect way, that Kim would be, when educated a valuable member of the
Secret Service. At last Kim was on his way to Saint Xavier s. Near the school he spied the lama
who had been waiting a day and a half to see him. They agreed to see each

A Discussion Of Madness In Society During The Middle Ages
The Oxford dictionary defines madness as The state of having a serious mental illness .
Madness has been construed in several different ways throughout centuries and literature. Before
and during the Middle Ages madness was mostly seen as a suggestion of sorcery/witchcraft or
demonic possession, or an imbalance of the humors blood, black bile, yellow bile and phlegm, or
as an effect of the moon (since it was believed that madness was caused as a result of sleeping in a
place where the moon beams struck a person s head and thereby the word lunacy was derived from
the Latin word luna for moon). However, some considered the mentally ill to be divinely gifted, that
is, being gifted with the power of speech/words (poets, writers, etc) and thereby the treatment and
attitudes towards the mentally ill varied from exorcism, confinement, trephination (used for people
who were thought to be possessed by demons and involved drilling a hole in the person s head to
drive evil spirits out of the body), whipping, etc. The sixteenth saw the establishment of asylums
and hospitals which accommodated and confined the mentally ill, destitute and vagabonds, the
jobless and the outlaws. All the unwanted people or the undesirables were shunned by the society
and sent to these institutions. St. Mary of Bethlehem in London which was popularly known as
Bedlam and the Hopital General of Paris were two well known institutions that housed the mentally
ill during the sixteenth and seventeenth

The Intellectual Rise of Islam
The Intellectual Rise of Islam
The Islamic Golden age provided the Abbasid Caliphate with an immense amount of political
power and influence. The empire controlled lands from West Africa to parts of current day Iran
and the new capital, Baghdad, quickly developed to into a large and advanced city . With control
over previous Greek, Egyptian, and Persian lands, the locality of the empire set base for the
academic, philosophical and medicinal advancement that define the Islamic Golden Age. Several
schools of thought began setting up in Baghdad, such as Gundishapur which brought Greek
medicine, science, and philosophy to the Islamic culture. Schools like these helped Islamic
scholars to learn from these texts in order to build their own thoughts and treatises. The pursuit for
academic advancement in fields of philosophy, technology, and medicine defines the Golden Age
of Islam at it allowed a proliferation of scholars from different regions to study under one empire
and one language. The size and stability of the Caliphate of the time proves their political and
economic power, however the success of the society would not have amounted to its potential if it
were not for the academic advances that flourished throughout this time period. The translation of
Hellenic philosophers provided the stepping stone for Islamic philosophy. For example, Islamic
Neoplatonism began flourishing under the first systematic philosopher of Islam, Abu Nasr al Farabi.
His texts, which mirrored

Mary and Max
Mary and Max It is 1976, an 8 year old Mary Daisy Dinkle (Bethany Whitmore) is a lonely little
girl living in Mount Waverley, Melbourne, Australia. Her relatively poor family cannot afford to
buy her toys or nice clothing, and she is teased by children at her school due to an unfortunate
birthmark on her forehead. Her father is distant and her alcoholic, kleptomaniac mother provides
no support. The closest thing she has to a friend is the man for whom Mary collects mail, Len
Hislop, a World War II veteran who lost his legs as a prisoner of war and has developed
agoraphobia.

Seeing how much Max valued their friendship and how happy it made him, Mary is moved to
tears of joy as the film closes.
The film is sublime. It s funny and insightful as it creates very different worlds for its two
characters, and yet it doesn t shy away from the harsher aspects of the lives of Mary and Max.
BARRY HUMPHRIES narrates and he does it beautifully. The animationperfectly suits the story, it
was five years in the making and it s worth every minute.
Comment: I found this film very tough going it is undoubtedly a well made film and has some
clever and quirky moments. However I lost interest around halfway through the film and could not
engage with the film and its clunky style. A lighter touch would have made a huge difference to
the viewing experience. Perhaps as an artistic statement it deserves more than three stars but as a
movie going experience it was only a little bit better than average.
The clay only gave the story more credibility, others might differ in their opinion about that, but I
think if it were played by real actors it would be less believable, (saying the tale itself was based on
a true story).
Love this movie. I cried a much needed cry that I wasn t able to do for

  • 2. Is Okonkwo Sympathetic Is Okonkwo s family relationships make him a sympathetic or unsympathetic character? There are many interactions that Okonkwo has with his family. Such as his first, second, and third wife, and all of his kids. Most of these interactions were negative interactions as it seems like his family is afraid of him but some were still positive. It may seem like Okonkwohates his familybut he doesn t, he really loves his family. Okonkwo is a sympathetic character and there are a couple of characters that can prove this. One family member/character that Okonkwo interacts with is Nwoye. Nwoye is one of the characters that proves Okonkwo is a sympathetic character. An excerpt from the story said, Okonkwo s first son, Nwoye, was then twelve years old but was already causing his father great anxiety for his incipient laziness. At any rate, that was how it looked to his father, and he sought to correct him by constant nagging and beating, And so Nwoye was developing into a sad faced youth. Nwoye proves that his father (Okonkwo) is a sympathetic character because Okonkwo wants to spend his time disciplining Nwoye in an attempt to turn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ezinma unlike most children, called her mother by her name. This shows that Okonkwo was sympathetic towards towards Ezinma because Ezinma was very close to her family, especially her mother. She even called her mother by her name instead of calling her mother which just proves how close she was to her family. Okonkwo sometimes had thought and wished Ezinma was a boy because since she is a perfect daughter he thinks if she is a boy than she would be a perfect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Argumentative Essay On Self Reliance Everyone in life has at least one person who has strongly influenced them in one way or another, but what if that influence ended up being hurtful? In the essay Self Reliance by Ralph Emerson, Emerson gives his advice on how to live independently. Emerson says self reliance is to trust oneself and believe in oneself. He states that this is important because being self reliant leads to a successful path in life. By having individual ideas one will end up doing something she or he wants to do in life which causes success for that individual. He discusses how the only person one needs to listen to in life is oneself and that no other person should influence one s life. I believe there are people in this world that can have a negative influence on one s life, but also people that can have a positive influence. For example, in basketballmy positive influences (parents, teammates, and coaches) help me to succeed in a team sport. Emerson begins his article by talking about the importance of self reliance. He defines self reliance as thinking for oneself and not letting anyone else influence one in any way, shape, or form. As a human being this may be one of the most difficult tasks. Emerson explains that being self reliant can be difficult especially for adults because they are too worried about their reputations and how others will look upon them. Emerson also says, Trust thyself (2). Emerson believes that one should go with his or her gut in everything she or he does. Even if what she or he wants to do goes against the thoughts of others she or he still needs to pursue his or her dreams. The last thing Emerson wants people to do is be embarrassed of what others will think of themselves. People need to throw away others thoughts and opinions and follow one s own. Emerson also believes that one can be great through being self reliant. He says, To be great is to be misunderstood (7). This tells one that if others seem to be judging or confused on what one is doing with his or her life, one should ignore the others, and continue to follow what she or he believes. Emerson explains that if one is misunderstood by others that she or he is on the path to success. For example, when Jesus followers were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. James Montgomery Flagg There are many pieces in modern design that hold my interest. One of the most interesting pieces of art in modern design is James Montgomery Flagg s I Want You for U.S. Army poster (James Montgomery Flagg. I Want You for the U.S. Army, Lithograph, 1917. Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division Washington, D.C.). While Flagg s piece aims to encourage people to take some action according to the current war, it is also very easily understood by the text that is intertwined. Much like the I Want You for U.S. poster, Julius Klinger s 8th War Bond poster (Julius Klinger. Kriegsanleihe, Lithograph. Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division Washington, D.C. ) is directed towards the same intent through a different approach. While... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Flagg s poster shows his intent through the text, Klinger s poster is much less straightforward and could be hard to understand if the viewer was not from the same country or culture as Klinger. Unlike Flagg s traditional color scheme in his poster, Klinger uses complementary colors to enhance the contrast between the red figure eight and the green snakelike figure in the center of the poster. Klinger s poster also does not rely on its colors to represent its purpose. Instead of relying on the color scheme, Klinger s poster relies on its figure such as the snake and the number to be the main focus of his piece. The arrows going through the snake give the idea that revenge or anger is toward someone. The top part of the 8 wrapped around the head of the snake also gives the idea of someone being trapped or a very concerning situation. Unlike Flagg s poster, Klinger s poster seems to take up much more space but does not have a lot of detail or other figures placed in the background. Klinger s poster is much more simplistic in the tone of the piece. There is very little, if any, value changes that show the rigidness and seriousness compared to Flagg s piece. Although Klinger relies on its two dimensional form, the items such as the arrows and the figure eight rely on each other in combination as a whole to depict the message. Much like Flagg s work, the message or context could be lost if the viewer did not speak the same language or was not from the same country. Klinger s piece captures both simplicity with its two dimensional style and complexity with its unclear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Education And The World Of Physical Education In the last few decades there has been a disconnect in the world of Physical Education. The stigma that physical educators bare has brought misunderstanding to parents and kids alike. The importance of health and even the education of basic motor skills has been substituted for standardized testing, and PE classes are further cut away in schoolbudgets due to a lack of awareness. Studies have proven on multiple occasions that there is a very strong correlation between more physical educationand higher test scores. Giving children the chance to release energy and have fun in a safe environment is extremely important in their future development. The foundation for physical education branches from Movement Education, which teaches kids to develop motor skills and coordination that are the building blocks for all physical activities whether it be sports or just throwing a ball. Movement education is an important theme to teach the pre K and elementary age group. At this time period, children are just learning to control their bodies in a mindful way, and reinforcing the ideas of a mind and body connection will help them further develop their skills. One of the key components of movement education is the involvement with students. There are no teams or scores, and a movement education activity often combines several motor skills into a game or objective. Movement Education has been more so phased out in modern teaching environments. The peak in popularity of movement education ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Legal Services And The Legal Profession The Legal Services Board was created under the Legal Services Act 2007 to promote particular principles within the legal profession, one of these being to encourage an independent, strong, diverse and effective legal profession . An important aspect of this is the idea of a diverse profession; is this really an issue which can be resolved within the profession, or does the encouragement of diversity have to begin right at the start of a person s legal education? In this essay I will discuss different ways in which attempts have been made to improve diversity within the legal profession and how effective these have been. I will then discuss the importance of law school in shaping the attitudes and values of the legal minds in this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It cannot be denied that the situation has improved drastically, for instance, between 1978 and 2008 there was an increase of 332% in the number of female solicitors. However there is still a long way to go to achieve a truly diverse legal profession, for example, in 2008, a study found that out of solicitors who had entered the profession 10 19 years ago, 77% of men had reached partner whereas only 48% of women had. This is not a problem limited to England and Wales, and the President of the American Bar Association has argued that the first step towards a more diverse legal profession is to develop our understanding of the roots of discrimination . According to feminist scholar Carrie Menkel Meadow, unless we can radically alter legal education, we will not be able to reconstruct our legal system or our society . The parity in numbers of male and female solicitors that become partners mentioned above is often explained away, and there is a common refusal to accept that this is a result of in house discrimination. Instead, male domination of the more lucrative specialties...so important for promotion is said to be due to the discriminatory behaviour of clients (though why such requests are endorsed remains to be seen). Sommerlad and Sanderson have argued that even today the legal profession remains a masculine domain. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

My Career At Robert Bosch Throughout my career at Robert Bosch, I have been exposed to functionality of products like Anti Lock Braking Systems, Electronic Stability Program, Airbags and other Electronic Control Units. The fact that an average car has 60 different embedded units performing various functions, sharing information over networks like CAN or FLEXRAY, has always amazed me. This exposure has inculcated a passion in me to gain more knowledge in the design and development of embedded systems. I completed my undergraduate degree in Electrical and Electronics. I was motivated to choose this field of study due to a previous attempt at implementing a cell phone controlled robot that worked on decoding DTMF signals. The choice paid off when after gaining some knowledge about microcontrollers in my first year, I managed to get the robot up and running. The satisfaction gained has always been a motivational factor in my career decisions. I believe my keen interest developed through projects as well as my basic professional experience in the embedded domain will help me actively participate in UCLA s graduate program in Electrical Engineering, with focus on Embedded Systems. I received my undergraduate degree from Amrita Vishwavidyapeetham University, where my key interests were subjects like Microcontrollers, Digital Systems, Control Systems, Analog Electronic and Drives. Systematic Theology II THEO 530 B07 Fall 2012 Professor Keith Church Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary September 23, 2012 Introduction This book looks at the ever present controversial topic of women in ministry. Since the 1990 s and what has been called the third wave of feminism, 1 men and women have been advocating gender equality in society.2 The theological implications of this have resulted with the question of whether or not limits should be placed on the leadership roles of women in the church. There are certain times where a historical background is presented to enhance her points that are not specifically mentioned in the bible, i.e. the Artemis cult8, although she cites outside sources for the information. Another weakness, I found, was the great extent of the lexical and contextual analysis and the constant criticism of what she considered the traditionalist s main arguments. Craig S. Keener Keener uses a totally different approach to this subject than Bellevue, even though they are both have egalitarian views on women s ministry. He admits in a note that this essay is intended for a more general audience because a detailed documentation for the points he is making can be found in several articles and a previously written book.9 Although claiming to be an egalitarian, he qualifies his view in this essay by the biblical prohibition of women under exceptional circumstances. This exceptional circumstance is in Paul s letter to Timothy which addresses a specific situation of false teachers targeting women, causing disunity in the church.10 Without having to go into an in depth analysis of scripture, Keener looks at the biblical evidence for women s ministry and the biblical evidence possibly against women s ministry. Normal non ischemic myocardial tissues differ from the cardiac tissue of an individual with myocardial ischemia because the normal tissue has adequate blood supply whereas the tissue in angina has inadequate bloodsupply from blocked coronary arteries. Unstable angina is diagnosed when ischemia is neither severe nor prolongs for more than 20 minutes and regularly occurs at rest (Sami Willerson, 2010). The onset of symptoms is sudden when thrombus formation is the direct cause of unstable angina. Following the onset of symptoms, unstable angina progresses rapidly and ends in severe symptoms at rest. Necessaries will depend largely on the individual circumstances and requirements of the individual but the following general categories include Food and Drink, Clothing, Board and Lodging, Funeral Expenses and Medical Aid, however the burden of showing not only that the goods were suitable to the condition in life of the individual but also that they were suitable to their actual requirements at the time of the sale and delivery, rests upon the supplier of the goods. Consequently, where an individual has already been sufficiently supplied with the goods in question, even though this fact is not known to the supplier, the contract will not be a binding one. A comparison can be drawn in the case of Nash v Inman [1908] a tailor supplied a Cambridge student who was a minor at the time with clothing which included eleven fancy waistcoats. The claimant in this case sued the defendant for the price of the clothes, at court the claimant s father a man of means gave evidence that the defendant was at the time in sufficient supply of clothing. The court held that the tailor had failed to prove that the clothes supplied to the defendant were indeed necessaries and that the claim was bound to fail because of this reason. But I also know what it takes to get back up, be courageous, and fight. One quality a teenage girl must have is courage. Courage to stand up for yourself and others. To succeed, a teenage girl must have smarts. Street smarts as well as book smarts are important. However, one quality that most teenage girls have is a carelessly open heart; letting anyone in that tries. She may do this because she wants to feel loved and needed. This leads to my second reason which is the motivation of her partner. He may be looking to take advantage of her and wishes to leave her heartbroken. When the partner realizes the girl s despiration, he feels a position of power and can further take advantage of her; body and soul. Through my experience, I hear how girls can be taken advantage of, and move from partner to partner as a reaction. Avoiding a broken heart can be accomplished by having a strong heart that is selective and strives for mutual and balanced commitment. A final reason for a teenage girl to be cautious with her heart is in connection to her self worth. When a girl gets her heart broken, she may feel intense loneliness, or she may look quickly for someone else to love and care for in order to avoid or fill the void of emotional pain. She may start feeling negatively about herself and her body and believe she will never be good enough. This poor self image can lead to severe depression and self harm. Many times, this heartache happens because a girl lets someone into her life without boundaries, or standards and once she realize this, she can feel defeated. For these reasons, having an open heart without using intelligence is a dangerous combination for a teenage girl. As you can see by the reasons above, teenage girls must have intelligence and courage to be successful. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This report aims to analyse how PR can specifically support the DMD Foundation to achieve its awareness and fundraising objectives. A common definition of PR will be examined, breaking down its key elements, followed by a discussion regarding the overarching role of PR within organisations, specifically in the non profit sector, highlighting the positive impact that PR could have on the DMD Foundation. Public relations is the management function which evaluates public attitudes, identifies the policies and procedures of an individual or an organisation with the public interest, and plans and executes a program of action to earn public understanding and acceptance. The Panopticon was built in 1857 on the site of an old warehouse by the partnership of little known architect Thomas Gildard and his brother in law H.M. McFarlane. The building, which was born as a music hall and can be counted among the first to get electricity in Glasgow, became one of the earliest establishments to be put into moving picture. As a chief aviation ordnanceman, he was in charge of twenty men whose primary task was to maintain the weapons of VP 11,a PBY Catalina flying boat squadron. On the morning of 7 December 1941, Finn was at his home, about a mile from the aircraft hangars, when he heard the sound of gunfire. Finn recalled how a neighbor was the first to alert him, when she knocked on his door saying, They want you down at the squadron right away! He drove to the hangars, catching sight of Japanese planes in the sky on the way, and found that the airbase was being attacked, with most of the PBYs already on fire.[3][5][6] Finn s men were trying to fight back by using the machine guns mounted in the PBYs, either by firing from inside the flaming planes or by detaching the guns and mounting them on improvised stands. • 50. A Discussion Of Madness In Society During The Middle Ages The Oxford dictionary defines madness as The state of having a serious mental illness . Madness has been construed in several different ways throughout centuries and literature. Before and during the Middle Ages madness was mostly seen as a suggestion of sorcery/witchcraft or demonic possession, or an imbalance of the humors blood, black bile, yellow bile and phlegm, or as an effect of the moon (since it was believed that madness was caused as a result of sleeping in a place where the moon beams struck a person s head and thereby the word lunacy was derived from the Latin word luna for moon). However, some considered the mentally ill to be divinely gifted, that is, being gifted with the power of speech/words (poets, writers, etc) and thereby the treatment and attitudes towards the mentally ill varied from exorcism, confinement, trephination (used for people who were thought to be possessed by demons and involved drilling a hole in the person s head to drive evil spirits out of the body), whipping, etc. The sixteenth saw the establishment of asylums and hospitals which accommodated and confined the mentally ill, destitute and vagabonds, the jobless and the outlaws. All the unwanted people or the undesirables were shunned by the society and sent to these institutions. The empire controlled lands from West Africa to parts of current day Iran and the new capital, Baghdad, quickly developed to into a large and advanced city . With control over previous Greek, Egyptian, and Persian lands, the locality of the empire set base for the academic, philosophical and medicinal advancement that define the Islamic Golden Age. Several schools of thought began setting up in Baghdad, such as Gundishapur which brought Greek medicine, science, and philosophy to the Islamic culture. Schools like these helped Islamic scholars to learn from these texts in order to build their own thoughts and treatises. The pursuit for academic advancement in fields of philosophy, technology, and medicine defines the Golden Age of Islam at it allowed a proliferation of scholars from different regions to study under one empire and one language. The size and stability of the Caliphate of the time proves their political and economic power, however the success of the society would not have amounted to its potential if it were not for the academic advances that flourished throughout this time period.
