The Chernobyl Explosion
Many Russian political heads have claimed, RBMK plants...will never be built again, largely due to
safety concerns of the past and current reactors [10]. As discussed previously the RBMK s had
several reactor features that made it difficult to justify their operation. Most importantly, the
reactors generated excess neutrons during operation which upon further study led to the super
criticality that caused the Chernobyl explosion. While Russia suggests that the explanation of the
plants failure was ultimately only due to the failure to follow safe operations of shutdown
procedures, other studies performed post incident suggest that the reactors were inherently
technologically unsafe [11]. The most significant issue with the RBMKdesign was... Show more

Despite these modifications, the RBMK reactors continue to have problems. One site in particular,
the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, has had multiple issues in the last few years. In 2013, the
graphite moderator was operating improperly due to deformities and cracks in its graphite
moderator core. These types of moderator failures have the potential to lead to larger problems,
such as the ones identified after the Chernobyl incident. Therefore, the reactor was shut down for
an 18 month period in order to repair the deformed moderator [12]. The 18 month project included
research and experimentation with reactor operating and monitoring procedures, and will lead to
the discovered solutions implementation on all existing RBMK reactors in the future. Despite this
solution, the Leningrad RBMKs shut down again for multiple days in October 2015 due to a minor
storm that blew seaweed into the reactor s water supply intake [13]. The reactor faced no issues
except for minor production delays and its automatic SCRAM procedures went off without issue;
however, the fact that a minor natural occurrence caused a shutdown of the reactor raised eyebrows
to the reactors true safety. It should be noted that water intake caused shutdowns have occurred
internationally, yet they face specific scrutinization when involved with the RBMK reactors [13].

Due to fears of safety, there are many who oppose the maintenance of RBMK reactors, especially at

Why The Raid At Cabanatuan
The raid at Cabanatuan was the product of a failed campaign to protect the Philippines from
Japanese control in 1941 42, which resulted in the capture of over 550 American and allied
POWs. The capture of the Philippines was essential to Japan, who would be able to use it as a
resupply point, as well as eliminating the natural barrier that existed between them and China. The
raid was organized three years later in an effort to release the POWS and further the mission of the
Allies reclaiming the Philippines from Japanese control. On December 7th 1941, Japanese air
forces attacked Pearl Harbor, destroying ships and claiming more than 2,400 lives. This attack is
most noted for being one of the single most important events leading to the... Show more content on

The result of the American defeat in Bataan was the Bataan Death March. The transfer of POWs
from Bataan to camp O Donnell in the northern part of the island spanned 61 miles, 40 of which
were traveled by foot. Along the way, the lack of Japanese supplies left very little for the POWs.
The ones who fell out of the march were killed, with countless others dying of disease and
starvation. By the time they troops had reached their destination of Camp O Donnell, the
American forces had lost endured nearly 10,000 casualties as well as 18,000 which died within
the first six weeks of the troops being in Camp O Donnell. POW s were moved from Camp O
Donnell Cabanatuan, where they remained until January of 1945. The camp at Cabanatuan was
used mainly for sick POWs, while the able bodied ones were sent back to Japan in order to
occupy the hard labor camps. The POWs who stay in Cabanatuan were starved, beaten, and
suffered from Malaria. The Japanese were instructed to treat POWs nicely, however due to
cultural differences; the POWs who surrendered were seen as dishonorable and unworthy of
support. The standing order for a man attempting to escape or seen smuggling food/medicine, was
for that man to have to watch as 10 other POWs were executed. The POWs endured the
mistreatment and torturous conditions for over two years before the American and Allied forces
were able to battle back in order to reoccupy the Philippines. The Allied forces began to work their

Women s Magazines Are Littered With Beauty Advertisements
Women s magazines are littered with beauty advertisements. On one page, a mascara ad
promises thick and long lashes as a symmetrically faced woman holds the wand to her eyes. Her
skin is pore less and she appears mechanical.. Turn the page and an actress/model stands with legs
the circumference of an arm. She is modeling jeans, yet they are barely on her body. This kind of
advertisingdoes not end at the actual advertisements. The truth is that the magazineitself is an
advertisement of its reader s inadequacy. Furthermore, the magazine as a whole serves as an
advertisement to a woman s assumed lack of confidence. Almost every product featured in
popular women s magazines is a paid placement. It s no secret that magazine publications are
struggling as more consumers migrate to online platforms. Without subscriber funding,
publications are forced to fund their company in various ways similar to how a person will work
many jobs in order to pay rent. Paid promotional articles and features fill this gap created by
declining subscribers. This makes all of the adverts and all of the articles about fat loss and shiny
hair even more trivial and unsubstantial. This issue could be excused, but it remains hard to ignore
considering how much lack of diversity factors into this nook of the publication world.
Cosmopolitan s slogan is Fun. Fearless. Female. which indicates that it is geared towards an
audience of women that is young and old, multi racial, thick or thin. The contents

Philippines Imperialization
The independence of the Philippines brought a new hope to the citizens that they would finally be
able to govern themselves. Imperialization from the Spanish in the 1500 s, followed by U.S. control
up until the end of World War II left the country hungry for economic resources and trustworthy
leaders. Even with independence from the United States, they were unable to escape from unethical,
elite leaders that were favored by the US government. Numerous citizens and nationalist leaders
attempted to revive the economy multiple times, yet there was always some way it would fail.
Although there were notable benefits in the aftermath of their independence, such as better
commerce and strong leaders who brought economic progress, overall its impacts... Show more

Often, the social order for most imperialized countries are for the benefit of the colonizing country
rather than the people themselves (Scipes). This held true for the Philippines, as their economy was
mostly controlled by the US. In another article, author Kathleen Weekley claims that, the American
administration tried to eradicate Filipino nationalism when it threatened US interests . By ignoring
nationalist pleas for economic reform, they treated the Philippines differently than other postwar
Asian countries; they implemented [reforms] on Japan, Korea and Taiwan, (Weekley) while putting
no effort on the Philippines. Even after their independence, the United States continued to maintain
a close relationship with the Philippine government. However, when they were in need of
resources and support post World War Two, the American government pursued plans driven for
their own self benefit. They were inexperienced with the way of the Philippines and also thad little
knowledge of it. By controlling an unfamiliar country, elites, high class members of the
government, were able to take over and abuse the power. With this abuse of power the elites wasted
the nation s capital on luxury imports and and pushed the Philippines further into economic

The Roaring 20 Research Paper
The Roaring 20s was a time of panic, exploration, and discovery among the American people.
Communism became a fear during this period in american history, this fear began with the
Bolshevik revolution in Russia and its ultimate turn to communism. This panic resulted in unjust
treatment of many radicals and immigrants and the resurgence in the Klu Klux Klan. In addition the
1920swas the decade of prohibition, this amendment caused widespread crime and the illegal
bootlegging of alcohol. While on the other hand, the 20s held a positive effect of the advancement
of women in american society. Evidently, the Red Scare, prohibition, and the advancement of
women contributed to significant social and political change.
The 1920 was a time of political injustice and unrest stemming from the communist movement and
Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. Many Americans feared the invasion of the communist way of
life to their capitalist world. This panic caused the Red Scare of 1910 1920. It resulted in the
deportation and unjust prosecution of immigrants coming from communist area. The term judicial

The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The United States
The United States is a melting pot now more than ever. The biggest reason for this change is largely
due from immigration and birthrates. Over the past thirty years immigrants who have come to
American have been primarily non Europeans including Asians, and people from South and Central
America. In the year 2000, the United Statescensus recorded 2.4 percent of the population in the
United States to have multiracial backgrounds. Although this may not sound like a big number,
Americans have had to adapt to being more culturally competent. Cultural competence is, The
process by which individuals and systems respond respectfully and effectively to people of all
cultures, languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, and other diversity factors in a
manner that recognizes, affirms, and values the worth of individuals, families, and communities
and protects and preserves the dignity of each. The Census Bureau believes that by 2050, nearly
fifty percent of America s population will be minorities. When the civil rights movement began in
the 1950 s, African Americans and other minority groups tried to alert the United States their
distinct identities. They felt that their long history of oppression especially in the United States had
to come to an end. Immigrants who come to this country bring certain qualities that Americans do
not obtain. Whether it is their language, religion, cultureor even different political backgrounds. As
our nation grows more diverse it

The Pros And Cons Of The Good Friday Agreement
The Good Friday Agreement says that they will let the majority vote then that will determine if
Northern Ireland unites with Ireland. This agreement allows Northern Ireland to be a part of the
United Kingdom for as long as the majority desires to be. (Bollens, page 57). Although there was
always a majority of Protestants in Northern Ireland, there has been a shift to more Catholics now.
Professor Bollens, projects that within the next 10 to 15 years the shift from Protestants to
Catholics is going to be so distinguished that there will probably be a vote for Northern Ireland to
join Ireland and that it will join (lec., Feb 6th). Since the younger generations are identifying with
the Catholics more, he projects that it will take 10 to 15 years because they need to wait until
there are a significant amount of people at or above the voting age in order to have a successful
outcome. If that were to happen then Britain would not have a choice but to agree. Yet, we would

Essay On The Request Deal
Today, the request deal is a fundamental piece of the criminal equity framework. The considerable
dominant part of charges, more than 90 percent in numerous purviews, are settled through some
sort of supplication deal, called a plea bargain. The Seventh Amendment of the Bill of Rights
systematized it as a basic piece of Americans freedoms. At the point when large amounts of
criminals were gotten and charged, the legislature experienced a trial and decision. However, in the
1800s, a pattern toward supplication started. A request deal is an arranged understanding for a
criminal respondent whereby he or she consents to confess in return for a greater result. This result
might be the dropping of extra charges.
A jury trial was often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plea bargains can also be called plea agreements where the prosecution come together to make
agreements to say if you plead guilty we ll do this and vice versa. Bradley gave away his right to
appeal, attack or motion against any punishment or fine given unto him by the courts. Now in
courts there is more pressure that influences the plea bargaining deals. Prosecutors do not have the
time to go through a broad trial for each case, regardless of whether it a winnable case for the
prosecutor.
Current Law
Numerous criminal cases are settled through a request deal, typically a long time before trial. In a
plea deal, the defendant consents to confess to at least one charges, regularly to a lesser accusation
than one for which the litigant could stand trial in return for a more tolerant sentence with the goal
that specific related charges are rejected. The right to create a plea bargain is not given to the state
which means one state does not have the right to prohibit it either. One exceptions to states
power is Alaska, The Attorney general banned plea bargaining. Him banning was not that big of
a deal back then because not that many people were making plea deals there, and it s still not a
problem now because Alaska prosecutors still don t have backloads and overloads of cases to
settle. Outside of what some critics may say about this controversial idea, most

Complementarian Versus Egalitarian Theology
Complementarian vs. Egalitarian Theology and Beliefs
Christian views, attitudes and beliefs about gender have always varied with some ideas evolving
with society and others set in tradition, never to change. While some see gender difference as a
feminist issue, others see it as a role requirement set by God. Of course, there are extremists on
both sides of this argument, as well as inter lapping beliefs, but gender issues are still debated by
Biblical scholars often and passionately. Not exclusive to denomination, gender equality is a
subject that can be examined in many ways, but the focus of this paper will be on two types of
theologies, Complementarian and Egalitarian. While both theologies rely on Bible scripture to gain
and prove their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This view can also be referred to as biblical equality. Egalitarians feel that Bible teaches Christians
equality both genders within all racial and ethnic groups, economic classes, and age groups based
on the example and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Egalitarian theology interprets scripture with the inference that the teachings of Jesus Christ,
through the Apostle Paul, ended gender specific roles for both genders with regards to the
church, ministry and in marriage. This view explains that God calls each of us to roles within the
church with no regard to race, gender or class. Egalitarians feel that each person should have equal
responsibility to use their talents to follow their calling in order to glorify God, without limitations
or rights that are based on gender. Under this theology, leadership or control in the Church or in the
home should not be based on gender or be male dominated. Egalitarian theory stresses the
importance of the Bible teaching individuals the equality of both genders in the creation and
redemption. Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent
of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes
from God. (1 Corinthians 11:11 12 NIV). There is neither Jew nor Gentile,

Model Of Atonement
2.The first model of atonement by the Church is the Christus Victor model, or the Satan model.
This model has three figures in it and they are God, Satan, and humanity. There are two versions of
this model. The ransom version and the cosmic battle version. With the ransom version Satan has
control over humanity, and all of their souls. Godhas to offer a ransom in order to free humankinds
souls. God makes the deal of handing over Jesusas a ransom payment to free the souls, and Satan
proceeds to kill Jesus taking it as a victory. Jesus then is resurrected allowing the return to God and
the victory for Christ. The souls of humanity are freed, and Jesus is still alive. It leaves the Satan
with nothing, and God with everything making Him the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a model of non violence, shows that atonement does not rely on punishment, and Jesus is
not a weak passive character. The symbols of God, Jesus, Satan, or humanity being taken in a
worldlier view that can provide a direct connection. This is a interpretation to the cosmic battle
where the main characters are metaphorically interpreted. Jesus was not this passive character,
He was an activist trying to make the Kingdom of God visible to humanity. An example is the
Roman Empire. The Roman Empire is Satan. They are a force that has a lot of power and
control, but do not recognize God as the true power of the universe. They are fighting to take
control of the world, and declare themselves kings and gods. They are not being humble and
thanking God, and putting their success in Him. In this case the Church is the representation of
God. The Roman Empire does not recognize the Church as the true power, and try to act without
the Church on their side. Jesus is sent as the embodiment of the Kingdom of God. He is sent to
spread God s message, and show people the light. Jesus is still put to death in this scenario, but it
means something different. Jesus us spreading a message against the Roman Empire, and talking
about a power that is greater than them. They are afraid of what Jesus is saying, and the following
that is starting, and Jesus is put to death because the Romans oppose the message. The

The Indian Culture in Slum dog Millionaire
Slum dog Millionaire: Indian Culture
I chose to learn a little bit more about Indian culture, and I thought Slum Dog Millionaire was a
great resource to do so. This movie depicts the story of 2 young Indian boys and their journey in
life through love, hardship, and culture. The story starts out with the two boy living a happy life
with their mother, but when their mother dies from the religious wars they are forced to learn to
fend for themselves. On their journey they let a little girl tag along on their journey. The movie
depicts what starts out to be a struggle to survive then they against all odds makes it out and make
a name for themselves by winning India s version of Who wants to be a millionaire .
Starting to scavenge in the slums of India the movie shows us how different the culture of India is.
There are not many scenes in the movie where I am envious of people living in India. The culture
of India is very different then the culture that I am used to. If kids loose their parents in the war
the movie that would be made after their lives would not be near as exciting as this one. If this
were to happen in the United States we would more than likely put the kids in foster care and
more than likely end up in a nice home and that would be the end of the story. This really shows
what kind of infrastructure that India has.
The Indian culture is built on upon religion. Though the movie that I chose to watch was not
directly about religion it seemed that the camera could

Currently, the market environment of the athletic apparel industry has several key players,

How Has Technology Helped Communication In The 20th Century
Communication is a major concern back in the old ages, letter was the commonly used medium of
it until telegraph was invented in 1792, and this allowed messages to be delivered over a great

it brought communication to a higher level. Technology began to change tremendously in the 20th

The Concentration Of Behavior Analysis

Introduction For the Unit 9 Assignment I will be creating a fictitious case (client) within the
concentration of Behavior Analysis. I will include client demographics, reasons for seeking out
service, intervention or treatment goals for the client, a theory that can relate to the client s case,
methods of interventions, any cultural issues, and any use of contemporary technology that will be
used. I decided to revolve my case study around social anxiety (or a social phobia). It will focus on
how a person s thoughts and beliefs can intensify an anxiety/phobia. If a person truly believes that
he/she will not do well in a certain situation, those thoughts and feelings can turn that into a reality.
It is up to the professionals to change these beliefs and negative emotions.

Influenza Pandemic Of 1918 Essay
From 1918 1919, the influenza virus swept the world and had disastrous effects. Different factor
contributed to the spread of the virus. Many religious groups believed the virus was an evil that
had fallen on the land and that only God can save them. Others caught the disease due to the lack of
sanitary prevention, such as there being no inspections in the trading ports. Also many people were
ignorant and knowledgeable about the pandemicbecause of the lack of response from health
/government officials. In all, the lack of authority was a huge contributing factor to the spread of
the influenzavirus.
The Great War helped create the influenza pandemic of 1918, and due to the close quarter s
nature of military service and trench warfare that helped the virus spread. Army recruits in World
War One were brought together from a wide range of backgrounds to live in close proximity in
army camps, barracks, troop ships and trench dugouts. This along with the horrible conditions and
the infestation of rats made it very easy for disease to spread. Soon, the war was ... Show more

Using Celebrities In Advertising By Sue Jozui
Many companies are using celebrities to promote for a certain kind of product. Sue Jozui in her
passage, arguing that using celebrities in advertising are insulting the intelligence of the audience,
and this kind of advertising should be boycotting. The author supports her argument by first giving
examples of celebrities using some kinds of products and promoting for them, she continues by
calling authorities to stop this kind of advertising. The author s purpose is to show that using
celebrities in advertising is misleading and insulting in order to stop this kind of advertising and

The quote is saying that celebrities in advertising can not be trusted, because they usually lie just

Michael Jordan promote for Nike shoes and he also wore them in his games. That proves that the
celebrities are not insulting or lying to the consumers because they proved that they are using the

FBR-Beige Book Summary
With the looming threat of an economic recession, action needs to be taken to try to minimize the
potential damage. Subprime loans to finance mortgage backed securities have brought instability to
the real estate market. Banks have had to implement tighter lending standards to residential
mortgages to try to offset this instability ( FBR Beige Book Summary, 2007). Though several banks
have reported tighter credit conditions on the commercial real estatemarket, credit availability and
credit quality remained promising for most borrowers ( FBR Beige Book Summary, 2007). Besides

Subprime mortgage loans issued by banks to finance mortgage backed securities have led to a
huge increase in both housing prices and the quantity of houses being built. If housing prices
climb too high above their economic value, there will be no incentive for people to pay their
mortgage. Borrowers may decide to default on their housing loans, and this will lead to a crisis
in the real estate market which could result in a drastic decline of economic performance. The
Federal Open Market Committee has a target of decreasing the federal funds rate 50 basis points,

Analysis of Dance Styles
For centuries peoples have been dancing as an art form that allows them to physically express
themselves without using words. These are times when simple dignity of movement can fulfill the
function of a volume of words (Humphrey, 1937). A great deal can be understood when a person
watches a person dances. The message that is related is strong and clear. When you understand the
types of dance the message is clear. I will attempt to examine the different forms of dance. We will
look at the forms of dance like Ballet, Modern World/Ritual, Folk, and jazz. Never the less it helps
construct a better understanding of the different forms.

women are unique when they dance they represent grace and puberty of a female. The dancers
form a line and begin to dance as they enter the stage from both sides forming a single line
stepping and clapping to the beat of the drums. In addition as they step to the music they step in
rhythm and clap, gesture to convey the message to the audience. For centuries cultures have
danced in many forms to symbolize a prayer for rain or fertility. These dances are ritual dances.
Sampi is a ritual dance done in Belize the symbolize fertility by jumping instead of flat footed

ceremony thus many follows after that (Zimmerns, 2010). Although these dances are known as a
ritual many people in Belize participate in hopes to create and bless the families and others with
great fertility and the healthy birth of a child with any family. There is no known evidence that
proves that these types of rituals work but people continue to partake in the rituals.
Folk Dance For centuries folk dancing has been around since the beginning of time. Natural
spontaneous behavior and festive occasions have been sources of song, music, and dance since

Regret by Kate Chopin Essay
Regret by Kate Chopin
In the short story Regret by Kate Chopin a woman called Mamzelle AurГ©lie has to keep a
neighbour s four children for two weeks.
Mamzelle AurГ©lie is an old and lonely woman. She has never had a man and lives alone on her
farm with some animals and Negroes working for her.
Because of a dangerous illness of her mother, the young neighbour has to leave and couldn t take
care of her children anymore. This is why Mamzelle AurГ©lie, who has never ever has children
before, has to keep them.
At the beginning she has great problems with managing those children. But after she a short period

starts to develop a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example for this is that the action takes places within a short period of time, which is quite
precisely two weeks, and the place of action doesn t change; it only plays on the farm.
You could also say that the story features an important and critical moment in Mamzelle AurГ©lie s
life and that there are just a few characters.
Another very important aspect is the symbol used in this short story. I suppose it is justified to say
that the children are the symbol uniting all different aspects in the story. Before Mamzelle
AurГ©lie had to keep the children she was leading a very lonely life. As the children were living
with her, her life got a sense and she became a happy person. But after they left her she realized
that she wasted her whole life and regrets everything. Through those children all the different
themes of the story like family or loneliness come together.
Now this is the one hand, but on the other several typical aspects of a short story aren t part of the
text.
Already at the beginning of the story we get to know a lot about the main character what gives you
the impression of an introduction.
Additionally Mamzelle AurГ©lie isn t really an everyday person. She is very special and represents
just a very small part of the readers.
But all in all my opinion is that the story features many typical elements and you can definitely call
it a short

Donuts is very popular in its industry and has established a powerful brand and image through its
efficient operations, low prices and the wide range of high quality products it offers. Moreover,
the company experiences economies of scale as it has many operations worldwide. In addition
they have significant bargaining power against their suppliers due to the experience they obtained

b.Weaknesses: Dunkin Donuts considers themselves as a retailer, for that reason, they are not well

growing demand for bagels as a breakfast and lunch item has estimated to spread across the

Ethanol or as we know as alcohol in our beverages can be made from any fruit or vegetable that
performs photosynthesis which produces glucose shown As required as the reactant of the previous
equations.
Balanced chemical equation for Photosynthesis:
6CO2 + 6H2O пѓ C6H12O6 + 6O2 (light energy is used as a catalyst in this equation)
Balanced chemical equation for the fermentation of glucose to ethanol:
C6H12O6(aq) пѓ 2C2H5OH(l) + 2CO2(g) (yeast acts as a catalyst in this reaction.)
As the diagram on the right displays, one molecule of Glucose produces two molecules of carbon
dioxide and two molecules of ethanol. The fermentation of glucose to ethanol is only possible if
oxygen is absent otherwise instead of producing ethanol and carbon dioxide, lactic acid is produced
instead.
The first part of the breakdown of glucose is known as Glycolysis, in which one molecule of
glucose is broken down to two molecules of pyruvate (C3H4O3). The second part is the
fermentation process in which the two pyruvate molecules are converted to two molecules of
ethanol and two molecules of carbon dioxide.
PART B

Symptoms And Treatment Of Psoriasis
The term comorbidity refers to the association of two distinct diseases in the same individual at a
rate higher than expected by chance (Bonavita and De Simone, 2008).
Although psoriasis has been previously thought to be a disease solely affecting primarily the skin
and the joints, our understanding of the comorbidities that may be associated with this disease has
grown significantly. Recent evidence has even suggested an increased over all risk of mortality in
patients with severe psoriasis (Gelfand JM et al., 2007).

A study by Cohen et al. (2008), supported previous reports of an association between psoriasis and
diabetes mellitus. The age adjusted proportion of diabetes was found to be significantly higher in
psoriasis patients as compared to the control group. A possible explanation for the association
between psoriasis and diabetes is the presence of chronic inflammation that occurs due to secretion
of TNF a and other proinflammatory cytokines such as IL 1 and IL 6, which precipitate both
psoriasis and diabetes.
2)Non Alcoholic Fat Liver Disease (NAFLD)
Prevalence of NAFLD in patients with psoriasis ran¬ges from 17 60% and is even greater in
patients with severe psoriasis and PsA ( Miele et al., 2009) .Similarly, Gisondi et al. speculated
that NAFLD may contribute to the seve rity of psoriasis through the release of inflammatory
mediators from the liver, including reactive oxygen species, CRP and IL 6, which also act as
mediators of atherogenesis (Gisondi et al., 2009),Moreover, patients with psoriasis and NAFLD
have higher risk of developing non alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and cirrhosis than patients
with NAFLD without psoriasis (Wenk et al., 2009). At least in part, progres¬sion of NAFLD to
NASH is associated with an increa¬se in the TNFa/adiponectin ratio. (Sanz Lp , 2007).

Summary Of The Waters Of Babylon, By The Waters Of Babylon
In the story, By The Waters Of Babylon, written by Stephen Vincent Benet, a great change occurred
from centuries before John s society. Even though this change happened long before John s society
came about, it still affected the way his society s culture was. This story expressed great cultural
adjustments throughout time. When the Great Burning happened, everything was destroyed and
most knowledge was lost along with the city. This caused everything to change when it came time
to rebuild the society. Culturechanges over time due to the idea that through everyday that passes,
some form of knowledge, somewhere, is lost or gained, and that causes a dramatic change as the
years keep going. Cultural change happens very often and there are many factors that can lead to
a culture adopting different customs. One factor is expressed in the story when John had a
vision of the Great Burning. This disaster caused the survivors to forget the old ways which
changed everything. For example, the story states, It was the time of the Great Burning and the
Destruction. They ran about like ants in the streets of their city poor gods, poor gods! (Benet,
pg9) This explains the fact that the Great Burning killed off most of the gods that resided there.
The poison still affected the few survivors that escaped. This poison caused the survivors to lose
everything they knew about the old ways and every piece of knowledge left. This caused a
cultural change because there was nothing there anymore to explain the way things were supposed
to happen. Overtime, knowledge can eventually be changed through the passing from generation
to generation, causing cultural change to occur. In John s society, culture had slowly been
modified due to the time. Some of the culture was altered since only few people had knowledge to
begin with. Once those people with the knowledge were gone, then there would be no way of
knowing what really happened. For example, in the text, John states, We are not ignorant like the
Forest People our women spin wool on the wheel, our priests wear a white robe. We do not eat
grubs from the trees, we have not forgotten the old writings, although they are hard to understand.
(Benet, pg2) This demonstrates the

Fiduciary Relationships In Texas

According to the Cornell University Law School s Legal Information Institute, a fiduciary duty is
a legal responsibility to act solely in the interests of another person, group or business. Failing to

The leaders of Botswana wanted to improve the standard of living for their people and bring
economic independence to a newly democratic country. This agreement also helped protect
Botswana from rebels invading their country for diamonds. Angola s Government was overseen
by Portugal up until the mid 1970 s. Angola wanted to gain independence from Portugal and the
Portuguese Government was unwilling to do so. A liberation movement started causing three
different unified forces to form. Those forces were the Popular Movement for the Liberation of
Angola (MPLA), National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA), and the National Union
for the Total Independence (UNITA). These forces banded together to remove the Portuguese
government from power. By the late 1970 s, the MPLA was forming a new government under
their control. Even though, the MPLA gained control of the government, UNITA and FNLA
wanted to run the government also. The three once unified forces were now fighting amongst
each other for power and causing civil wars. Most of Angola s of rough diamonds were in areas
controlled by UNITA, which made it difficult for the MPLA to tap the rough diamonds as an
economic resource. UNITA on the other hand, saw this as a benefit to sell the illicit diamonds on
the black market. This non government organization took over the production and sales of Angola s
rough diamonds to fund their

Pavee Lackeen Essay
This essay aims to discuss the argument both for and against the claims that Irish Travellers should
be recognised as an ethnic group. An ethnic group is defined as a category of people who identify
with each other based on common language, ancestral, social, cultural, or national experiences
(Bailey 2010). Currently, the Irish Travellercommunity is not recognised by the Irish government as
an ethnic minority group. This is despite the best efforts from the government funded non
governmental organisation Pavee Point which was established in 1985 to improve the human
rights of Irish Travellers and to help bridge the economic and social inequalities between Travellers
and settled people in Ireland (Pavee Point 2016). In a country which became... Show more content

Pavee Lackeen is a 2005 documentary style film which captures young Traveller girl Winnie
Maughan over ten months as she lived in a roadside caravan with her mother and ten brothers in
Dublin. The living conditions of Winnie and her family are common throughout the Travelling
community in Ireland, as stated by Pavee Point (2016) that 800 Traveller families live on the
side of the road with no running water or sanitation . This film, in contrast to Into The West,
which though accurate of its representation of Travellers is a fiction film, not real world. Pavee
Lackeen is a very real depiction of how Irish Travellers live in society today. Winnie Maughan is
not an actress, she was filmed in her own home with no cinematic effects added to enhance or
derail the experience of her surroundings. The result is a real life illustration of the lives of
Travellers in Ireland. The film portrays the poverty in which Winnie and her family live, in a run
down caravan dangerously close to a Dublin dual carriageway. Just as in Into The West the lack of
interest in school shown by children and parents alike emphasizes the stereotype of Travellers but
the fact that it is highlighted in the film that a large number of schools refuse Traveller children, all
the blame cannot rest with them. An issue which is heavily evident and pressing is the lack of
resources available to Winnie and her family by the Irish government. The council cannot even
provide housing with sufficient running water for the family. Throughout research for this paper, it
was continually argued by those who were against Irish Travellers being recognized as an ethnic
minority that Travellers are Irish so therefore cannot be an Ethnic minority group in this country.
There is a constant theme which cannot be missed in the film as the people that Winnie comes into

Langston Hughes Influences
James Mercer Langston Hughes was African American poet, who wrote for more than the average
African American male. Hughes s was a Social activist for African Americans during his lifetime.
Hughes took great interest in the music of the Harlem Renaissance which can be seen in his later
works by taking the beat and message of the Jazz music played in Harlem at the time. It is safe to
say that Langston Hughesinfluenced many African Americans through his writing, social and
political activities, and the Harlem Renaissance. On February 1, 1902 in Joplin, Missouri Mr.

Lindsay was very impressed with young Langston Hughes that she starts to promote him, and
gives him a wider audience for his writing. The Weary Blues one of Hughes poems won first
place in Opportunity magazine literary competition. Langston s raise in fame also earned him a
scholarship to attend Lincoln University. Carl Van Vechten who is a novelist and critic helped
Langston published his first poetry book while studying at the Lincoln. The book became
popular because of style and his commitment to black themes and heritage. Jazz rhythms were
used in many of Langston s poems which gave the reader a depict of life of urban African
Americans in this time period. After the success of his first volume of poetry Hughes published
his second volume in 1927. Then after Hughes graduated from Lincoln, he published his first
novel Not Without Laughter . It came to Hughes attention that he could make a living as a writer
after the success of his works in the last few years. Hughes started traveling around the United
States and giving lectures to large groups of people. Langston would continue writing poems,
novels, and plays for the rest of his days. Langston Hughes s days would come to an end on May
22, 1967, because he lost a fight to prostate cancer. Hughes s New York home in the neighborhood

Kharkov Battle Analysis
The capture of the Kharkov region and the movement of panzer units prompted Marshal Gerorgi
Zhukov to deploy troops near Kharkov in an attempt to defend against further movement of
German forces. With the German Army Group Center and Army Group South so close together,
it was as apparent to the Russians as it was to the Germans that Kursk was going to be attacked.
Zhukov, therefore, argued for a cautious defensive measure towards Kursk; I do not consider it
necessary for our troops to mount a preventive offensive in the next few days. It will be better if
we wear the enemy out in defensive action. This opinion was shared by Lieutenant General
Mikhail Malinin, Chief of Staff of the Central Front, where he advised the Stavka (Russian high
command) to create strategic reserves and deploy them along the front. These defensive measures
were taken where Zhukov wanted to meet the German offensive with fire of all weapons from the
deeply echeloned defences, with powerful blows from the air and counter blows by operational and
strategic reserves. The response to this,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

statement full of convincing facts and thoroughly showed the villainous qualities of Columbus.
Grant had an extensive rebuttal which showed how prepared he was for the debate. Eric made a
great comparison of Columbus slave gold mine and modern day China s overworked and
underpaid employees. Keara gave a passionate closing, which really tore into the other side s
arguments. 2.While both sides did exceedingly well, the con side did just slightly better and
therefore won the debate. The pro side did do a better job creating thoughtful responses and

is the most common way to test for drug or alcohol abuse but there are new sampling methods on
the rise. Urine is the least expensive and least intrusive. The urine drug test usually screens for
alcohol, amphetamines, benzodiazepines, marijuana, cocaine, PCP, and opioids (narcotics). Hair

sweat or oily secretions into or onto the hair, where they cannot be washed or bleached out

Bodybuilding And Powerlifting
Everyone has a way of relieving stress or taking their anger out on something. Well for me thats
going to the gym, its helped me with things that have ended up badly in my social life. It s a way
for me to let go and just be myself without anyone judging me, and I believe that everyone needs
to have a place like that. But going to the gym isn t just a place to go blow off steam for me, it s
something I do for a sport. So I need to figure out a way I could improve my muscularity and size.
I want to know more about this comparison because I love bodybuilding and competing in

If I am able to find out which would improve my muscle growth faster It would increase my
opportunities in both bodybuilding and powerlifting. The more muscle mass I gain in the
shorter amount of time can help my body physically. The less body fat that your body has the
better shape it is in and has less of a health risk. This is something that s very important to me
because i ve always been a bigger person than most. To me lifting is more than just something

The Task Environmental Factors Of Chatime And Ding Tea
Before we compare Chatime and Ding Tea, we need to find out the task environmental factor
that cannot be affected by both companies. The most important element that can find in task
environmental factor is customers. Customers is the people who purchase the goods or services
produced by a particular organization (Ang, 2015). Customers impact the organization through
their purchasing patterns, tastes, and responses. Therefore, customers is the most critical part in
task environmental factor. Based on the observation in CityONE Megamall, most of the people
there are age around 20 to 30 which is also known as young people. People who are age around
20 to 30 usually prefer goods and services that are slightly different from other and often with
lower price. Therefore, to gain high market share in CityONE Megamall, a firm needs to set the
price lower or produce goods and services that are unique. Customers occupation are another
critical point in gaining competitive advantage for a firm during competition. Different
occupation consumer needs different goods and services from sellers. For example, a blue collar
worker will buy normal clothes to wear for work, but a company president will buy expensive
clothes. Potential customers in CityONE Megamall mostly are students. Students always look for
special goods and services with lower price. Since potential... Show more content on

This paper will deal with the importance of Theological reflection and it will argue that theological
reflection is the responsibility of all individuals in the human race. In response to Amartya Sen s
work in Development as Freedom as well the treatment of theological reflection and the analysis of
methods by Elaine Graham, Heather Walton and Frances Ward, this paper will attempt to unpack
what the term development means with a view to offering a theological response to the concerns

Graham et al makes us aware that there remain problems with the way students have been
historically expected to engage in theological reflection and they cite 3 problems. For the purposes
of this paper I will emphasise one with a view of introducing a theological reflection model that is
designed to bring about transformation. According to Graham et al (Graham, Walton, amp; Ward,
2005, p. 7) one of the problems are that pastoral care, contextual analysis and patterns of theological
reflection are often divorced from the study of systematic/historical/biblical disciplines on the
curriculum in theological colleges, courses and seminaries.
Here I wish to offer a theological reflection model that does well to integrate pastoral care, biblical
study and theological reflection and it is also an effective tool for bringing about transformation in
a community. In fact this model is taught at the College of The Transfiguration Grahamstown as
part of the course titled Implementing transformation in a community using Christian principles. It
is also an interdisciplinary model in the sense that it can also be applied in Christian ethics courses.
This model is called SEE JUDGE ACT. I will return to this model later in this paper.
To return to the views of Graham et al, they argue that the history of doctrine should be

Adoption
There are many sides and opinion about adoption, me coming from the adoption system highly
agrees with adoption. In this paper, I m going to explain the history of adoption, the rules you have
to follow, the pros and cons of adoption and the process of adoption, and stories of adoption. Also,
I will talk and explain about the system and what could be improvements to the system.
Adoption is an old process. Adoption is a process where parents who cannot provide for their
kids can put them up for adoption to couples, or people would provide for the children. The
concept of adoption was not legally recognized in the United States until the 1850 s. Back then
there were no formal records of children being adopted. As the numbers of the informal adoption
grew, they soon realized that they needed to get a legal process of started. In 1851,

Comparsion Of Iago And Iago In William Shakespeare s Othello
While reading the play, Othello, by Shakespeare, you might ask yourself this question; What s the
difference between Iago and Othello? Othello and Iago are very different from each other. Not only
in their colours, but in their personality. However, it may be said that the two share one common
flaw, their tendency to misjudge others. This common flaw was the cause of their downfall. Iago
was consumed by his desire to get revenge on Othelloto the extent of putting his plan into action.
Othello s love and possessiveness over Desdemonaovertakes him to the point where he would rather
kill her than grant anyone else the privilege to have her. In this manner, despite their differences,
Othello and Iago represent the same thing human emotion. Both characters can be viewed in this
way throught the play.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, yes, that is true, but they are more alike than you would think. From the beginning
of the play to the end, one of the main focuses is on both character s insecurity. When Cassio
received the promotion Iago thought he was destined for, his insecurity grew. Othello s
supposed favoring over Cassio makes Iago hatch his master plan. Unlike Iago, Othello s
insecurities are much more indirect, not really making an appearance until Iago s plan follows
through. His background, age, gained social status, and the fact that someone such as
Desdemona would have love for someone like him, a Moor , are the source of Othello s
insecurity. These insecurities lead to much bigger and negative feeling, jealousy. Iago is jealous of
Cassio s position directing his hate towards Cassio and Othello. Othello s jealousy of the apparent
relationship between Cassio and Desdemona leads him to creating horrible scenarios in his head,
fueling his abusive actions towards

During our first experiment we used blue, yellow and a mixture of blue and yellow to find their
transmission using different wavelengths. The blue peaked at 630 nm, the yellow peaked at 410
430 nm and the mixture (green) peaked at 630 nm. Results on Tables 1 3 and Graph 1. We had to
find the peak wavelength of each dye to identify the color of the solution. By using the Spec 20
machine the color or the dye that is seen depends on the wavelengths of light to see the color that is
reflected and the other colors that are absorbed [1]. By using a vision region colour wheel I can
see that because the blue peaked at 630 nm the color absorbs red light. The yellow absorbed violet
light and the mixture absorbed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also the intensity of color is related to the absorbance of light when using the Spec 20. The
intensity of the color of the compound is proportional to the absorbance of the compound. The
greater the intensity the greater the absorbance. By using the Spec 20 we could uncover an
unknown sample color by knowing a colors transmission/absorption range. We also learned that
absorbance and concentration of solutions are proportional to one another. The more concentrated
the solution the greater the light absorbed, which is proven by Diet Coke. By using a Beer s Law
Plot we can determine an unknown samples concentration by observing the absorption of the
sample [2]. The evidence of the experiment proved that the color of a compound is related to
absorption and absorption is related to the concentration of a

Dark Matter: The Number One Mystery in Our Universe
Dark matter is a mystery in astrophysics that could not be explained until the 1970s. Even now,
with the understanding of space we have, cosmologists do not know a plethora of knowledge about
dark matter. Dark matter is non baryonic matter that cannot be detected in normal ways and was not
discovered until the 1930s, but is one of the main components of our universe. Dark matter makes
up about 27 percent of our entire universe (Dark Energy, Dark Matter NASA Science), and another
75 percent of all matter (Dunbar). Dark matter forms in giant, unevenly spread clumps around
celestial bodies, mostly galaxies. One theory of how the clusters of dark matter form is the Weakly
Interacting Massive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since when the dark matter particle collide and produce gamma rays, cosmologists can use gamma
ray telescopes to detect the placement of dark matter clumps. Another way to disclose the location
of dark matter clusters is to use gravitational lensing. Light behind galaxies is distorted by the
intervening invisible dark matter within the cluster (Hubble s Dark Matter Map). In the 1930s, an
astronomer named Fritz Zwicky theorized dark matter. He studied the Coma galaxy cluster,
specifically how fast the cluster revolves. The speed of the revolution depends on the weight and
position of the matter within the cluster. The speed that Zwicky measured implied that the cluster
had more matter than what matter was observable. Then, in the 1970s, Vera Rubin and her team
justified Zwicky s idea by studying galaxy rotation with better technology. The work of Rubin
helped to establish the notion of dark matter (Dunbar). Dark matter is one of the main mysteries in
the universe, that cosmologists still do not know much about. Dark matter is non baryonic matter,
discovered in the 1930s, that is a main component of our known cosmos. Dark matter is made after
WIMPs, colliding, making gamma rays. Using the gamma rays emitted, astrophysicists detect the
placement of dark matter. With the next technological advancements in the studies of our universe,
cosmologists can acquire new information about dark

  • 2. The Chernobyl Explosion Many Russian political heads have claimed, RBMK plants...will never be built again, largely due to safety concerns of the past and current reactors [10]. As discussed previously the RBMK s had several reactor features that made it difficult to justify their operation. Most importantly, the reactors generated excess neutrons during operation which upon further study led to the super criticality that caused the Chernobyl explosion. While Russia suggests that the explanation of the plants failure was ultimately only due to the failure to follow safe operations of shutdown procedures, other studies performed post incident suggest that the reactors were inherently technologically unsafe [11]. The most significant issue with the RBMKdesign was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Despite these modifications, the RBMK reactors continue to have problems. One site in particular, the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant, has had multiple issues in the last few years. In 2013, the graphite moderator was operating improperly due to deformities and cracks in its graphite moderator core. These types of moderator failures have the potential to lead to larger problems, such as the ones identified after the Chernobyl incident. Therefore, the reactor was shut down for an 18 month period in order to repair the deformed moderator [12]. The 18 month project included research and experimentation with reactor operating and monitoring procedures, and will lead to the discovered solutions implementation on all existing RBMK reactors in the future. Despite this solution, the Leningrad RBMKs shut down again for multiple days in October 2015 due to a minor storm that blew seaweed into the reactor s water supply intake [13]. The reactor faced no issues except for minor production delays and its automatic SCRAM procedures went off without issue; however, the fact that a minor natural occurrence caused a shutdown of the reactor raised eyebrows to the reactors true safety. It should be noted that water intake caused shutdowns have occurred internationally, yet they face specific scrutinization when involved with the RBMK reactors [13]. Extension Opposition Due to fears of safety, there are many who oppose the maintenance of RBMK reactors, especially at the Leningrad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Why The Raid At Cabanatuan The raid at Cabanatuan was the product of a failed campaign to protect the Philippines from Japanese control in 1941 42, which resulted in the capture of over 550 American and allied POWs. The capture of the Philippines was essential to Japan, who would be able to use it as a resupply point, as well as eliminating the natural barrier that existed between them and China. The raid was organized three years later in an effort to release the POWS and further the mission of the Allies reclaiming the Philippines from Japanese control. On December 7th 1941, Japanese air forces attacked Pearl Harbor, destroying ships and claiming more than 2,400 lives. This attack is most noted for being one of the single most important events leading to the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The result of the American defeat in Bataan was the Bataan Death March. The transfer of POWs from Bataan to camp O Donnell in the northern part of the island spanned 61 miles, 40 of which were traveled by foot. Along the way, the lack of Japanese supplies left very little for the POWs. The ones who fell out of the march were killed, with countless others dying of disease and starvation. By the time they troops had reached their destination of Camp O Donnell, the American forces had lost endured nearly 10,000 casualties as well as 18,000 which died within the first six weeks of the troops being in Camp O Donnell. POW s were moved from Camp O Donnell Cabanatuan, where they remained until January of 1945. The camp at Cabanatuan was used mainly for sick POWs, while the able bodied ones were sent back to Japan in order to occupy the hard labor camps. The POWs who stay in Cabanatuan were starved, beaten, and suffered from Malaria. The Japanese were instructed to treat POWs nicely, however due to cultural differences; the POWs who surrendered were seen as dishonorable and unworthy of support. The standing order for a man attempting to escape or seen smuggling food/medicine, was for that man to have to watch as 10 other POWs were executed. The POWs endured the mistreatment and torturous conditions for over two years before the American and Allied forces were able to battle back in order to reoccupy the Philippines. • 4. Women s Magazines Are Littered With Beauty Advertisements Women s magazines are littered with beauty advertisements. On one page, a mascara ad promises thick and long lashes as a symmetrically faced woman holds the wand to her eyes. Her skin is pore less and she appears mechanical.. Turn the page and an actress/model stands with legs the circumference of an arm. She is modeling jeans, yet they are barely on her body. This kind of advertisingdoes not end at the actual advertisements. The truth is that the magazineitself is an advertisement of its reader s inadequacy. Furthermore, the magazine as a whole serves as an advertisement to a woman s assumed lack of confidence. Almost every product featured in popular women s magazines is a paid placement. It s no secret that magazine publications are struggling as more consumers migrate to online platforms. Without subscriber funding, publications are forced to fund their company in various ways similar to how a person will work many jobs in order to pay rent. Paid promotional articles and features fill this gap created by declining subscribers. This makes all of the adverts and all of the articles about fat loss and shiny hair even more trivial and unsubstantial. This issue could be excused, but it remains hard to ignore considering how much lack of diversity factors into this nook of the publication world. Cosmopolitan s slogan is Fun. Fearless. Female. which indicates that it is geared towards an audience of women that is young and old, multi racial, thick or thin. The contents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Philippines Imperialization The independence of the Philippines brought a new hope to the citizens that they would finally be able to govern themselves. Imperialization from the Spanish in the 1500 s, followed by U.S. control up until the end of World War II left the country hungry for economic resources and trustworthy leaders. Even with independence from the United States, they were unable to escape from unethical, elite leaders that were favored by the US government. Numerous citizens and nationalist leaders attempted to revive the economy multiple times, yet there was always some way it would fail. Although there were notable benefits in the aftermath of their independence, such as better commerce and strong leaders who brought economic progress, overall its impacts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Often, the social order for most imperialized countries are for the benefit of the colonizing country rather than the people themselves (Scipes). This held true for the Philippines, as their economy was mostly controlled by the US. In another article, author Kathleen Weekley claims that, the American administration tried to eradicate Filipino nationalism when it threatened US interests . By ignoring nationalist pleas for economic reform, they treated the Philippines differently than other postwar Asian countries; they implemented [reforms] on Japan, Korea and Taiwan, (Weekley) while putting no effort on the Philippines. Even after their independence, the United States continued to maintain a close relationship with the Philippine government. However, when they were in need of resources and support post World War Two, the American government pursued plans driven for their own self benefit. They were inexperienced with the way of the Philippines and also thad little knowledge of it. By controlling an unfamiliar country, elites, high class members of the government, were able to take over and abuse the power. With this abuse of power the elites wasted the nation s capital on luxury imports and and pushed the Philippines further into economic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Communism became a fear during this period in american history, this fear began with the Bolshevik revolution in Russia and its ultimate turn to communism. This panic resulted in unjust treatment of many radicals and immigrants and the resurgence in the Klu Klux Klan. • 10. The Importance Of Cultural Diversity In The United States The United States is a melting pot now more than ever. The biggest reason for this change is largely due from immigration and birthrates. Over the past thirty years immigrants who have come to American have been primarily non Europeans including Asians, and people from South and Central America. In the year 2000, the United Statescensus recorded 2.4 percent of the population in the United States to have multiracial backgrounds. Although this may not sound like a big number, Americans have had to adapt to being more culturally competent. Cultural competence is, The process by which individuals and systems respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, languages, classes, races, ethnic backgrounds, religions, and other diversity factors in a manner that recognizes, affirms, and values the worth of individuals, families, and communities and protects and preserves the dignity of each. The Census Bureau believes that by 2050, nearly fifty percent of America s population will be minorities. This agreement allows Northern Ireland to be a part of the United Kingdom for as long as the majority desires to be. (Bollens, page 57). Although there was always a majority of Protestants in Northern Ireland, there has been a shift to more Catholics now. The considerable dominant part of charges, more than 90 percent in numerous purviews, are settled through some sort of supplication deal, called a plea bargain. At the point when large amounts of criminals were gotten and charged, the legislature experienced a trial and decision. However, in the 1800s, a pattern toward supplication started. The age adjusted proportion of diabetes was found to be significantly higher in psoriasis patients as compared to the control group. • 35. Summary Of The Waters Of Babylon, By The Waters Of Babylon In the story, By The Waters Of Babylon, written by Stephen Vincent Benet, a great change occurred from centuries before John s society. Even though this change happened long before John s society came about, it still affected the way his society s culture was. This story expressed great cultural adjustments throughout time. When the Great Burning happened, everything was destroyed and most knowledge was lost along with the city. This caused everything to change when it came time to rebuild the society. Culturechanges over time due to the idea that through everyday that passes, some form of knowledge, somewhere, is lost or gained, and that causes a dramatic change as the years keep going. Cultural change happens very often and there are many factors that can lead to a culture adopting different customs. One factor is expressed in the story when John had a vision of the Great Burning. This disaster caused the survivors to forget the old ways which changed everything. For example, the story states, It was the time of the Great Burning and the Destruction. They ran about like ants in the streets of their city poor gods, poor gods! (Benet, pg9) This explains the fact that the Great Burning killed off most of the gods that resided there. The poison still affected the few survivors that escaped. This poison caused the survivors to lose everything they knew about the old ways and every piece of knowledge left. This caused a cultural change because there was nothing there anymore to explain the way things were supposed to happen. Overtime, knowledge can eventually be changed through the passing from generation to generation, causing cultural change to occur. In John s society, culture had slowly been modified due to the time. Some of the culture was altered since only few people had knowledge to begin with. Once those people with the knowledge were gone, then there would be no way of knowing what really happened. For example, in the text, John states, We are not ignorant like the Forest People our women spin wool on the wheel, our priests wear a white robe. We do not eat grubs from the trees, we have not forgotten the old writings, although they are hard to understand. (Benet, pg2) This demonstrates the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I m not saying it is healthy, but parents just want the best for their children. If they believe tuition is the way to go, then there is nothing to stop them, deputy education minister Dr Puad Zarkashi said. An ethnic group is defined as a category of people who identify with each other based on common language, ancestral, social, cultural, or national experiences (Bailey 2010). Currently, the Irish Travellercommunity is not recognised by the Irish government as an ethnic minority group. This is despite the best efforts from the government funded non governmental organisation Pavee Point which was established in 1985 to improve the human rights of Irish Travellers and to help bridge the economic and social inequalities between Travellers and settled people in Ireland (Pavee Point 2016). Pavee Lackeen is a 2005 documentary style film which captures young Traveller girl Winnie Maughan over ten months as she lived in a roadside caravan with her mother and ten brothers in Dublin. The living conditions of Winnie and her family are common throughout the Travelling community in Ireland, as stated by Pavee Point (2016) that 800 Traveller families live on the side of the road with no running water or sanitation . This film, in contrast to Into The West, which though accurate of its representation of Travellers is a fiction film, not real world. Pavee Lackeen is a very real depiction of how Irish Travellers live in society today. Winnie Maughan is not an actress, she was filmed in her own home with no cinematic effects added to enhance or derail the experience of her surroundings. The result is a real life illustration of the lives of Travellers in Ireland. The film portrays the poverty in which Winnie and her family live, in a run down caravan dangerously close to a Dublin dual carriageway. Just as in Into The West the lack of interest in school shown by children and parents alike emphasizes the stereotype of Travellers but the fact that it is highlighted in the film that a large number of schools refuse Traveller children, all the blame cannot rest with them. An issue which is heavily evident and pressing is the lack of resources available to Winnie and her family by the Irish government. The council cannot even provide housing with sufficient running water for the family. Throughout research for this paper, it was continually argued by those who were against Irish Travellers being recognized as an ethnic minority that Travellers are Irish so therefore cannot be an Ethnic minority group in this country. • 51. Comparsion Of Iago And Iago In William Shakespeare s Othello While reading the play, Othello, by Shakespeare, you might ask yourself this question; What s the difference between Iago and Othello? Othello and Iago are very different from each other. Not only in their colours, but in their personality. However, it may be said that the two share one common flaw, their tendency to misjudge others. This common flaw was the cause of their downfall. Iago was consumed by his desire to get revenge on Othelloto the extent of putting his plan into action. Othello s love and possessiveness over Desdemonaovertakes him to the point where he would rather kill her than grant anyone else the privilege to have her. In this manner, despite their differences, Othello and Iago represent the same thing human emotion. Both characters can be viewed in this way throught the play.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this case, yes, that is true, but they are more alike than you would think. From the beginning of the play to the end, one of the main focuses is on both character s insecurity. When Cassio received the promotion Iago thought he was destined for, his insecurity grew. Othello s supposed favoring over Cassio makes Iago hatch his master plan. Unlike Iago, Othello s insecurities are much more indirect, not really making an appearance until Iago s plan follows through. His background, age, gained social status, and the fact that someone such as Desdemona would have love for someone like him, a Moor , are the source of Othello s insecurity. These insecurities lead to much bigger and negative feeling, jealousy. Iago is jealous of Cassio s position directing his hate towards Cassio and Othello. Othello s jealousy of the apparent relationship between Cassio and Desdemona leads him to creating horrible scenarios in his head, fueling his abusive actions towards ... • 52. Scientific Explanation Lab Report Discussion and Scientific Explanations During our first experiment we used blue, yellow and a mixture of blue and yellow to find their transmission using different wavelengths. The blue peaked at 630 nm, the yellow peaked at 410 430 nm and the mixture (green) peaked at 630 nm. Results on Tables 1 3 and Graph 1. We had to find the peak wavelength of each dye to identify the color of the solution. By using the Spec 20 machine the color or the dye that is seen depends on the wavelengths of light to see the color that is reflected and the other colors that are absorbed [1]. By using a vision region colour wheel I can see that because the blue peaked at 630 nm the color absorbs red light. The yellow absorbed violet light and the mixture absorbed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also the intensity of color is related to the absorbance of light when using the Spec 20. The intensity of the color of the compound is proportional to the absorbance of the compound. The greater the intensity the greater the absorbance. By using the Spec 20 we could uncover an unknown sample color by knowing a colors transmission/absorption range. We also learned that absorbance and concentration of solutions are proportional to one another. The more concentrated the solution the greater the light absorbed, which is proven by Diet Coke. By using a Beer s Law Plot we can determine an unknown samples concentration by observing the absorption of the sample [2]. The evidence of the experiment proved that the color of a compound is related to absorption and absorption is related to the concentration of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Dark Matter Research Paper Dark Matter: The Number One Mystery in Our Universe Dark matter is a mystery in astrophysics that could not be explained until the 1970s. Even now, with the understanding of space we have, cosmologists do not know a plethora of knowledge about dark matter. Dark matter is non baryonic matter that cannot be detected in normal ways and was not discovered until the 1930s, but is one of the main components of our universe. Dark matter makes up about 27 percent of our entire universe (Dark Energy, Dark Matter NASA Science), and another 75 percent of all matter (Dunbar). Dark matter forms in giant, unevenly spread clumps around celestial bodies, mostly galaxies. One theory of how the clusters of dark matter form is the Weakly Interacting Massive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since when the dark matter particle collide and produce gamma rays, cosmologists can use gamma ray telescopes to detect the placement of dark matter clumps. Another way to disclose the location of dark matter clusters is to use gravitational lensing. Light behind galaxies is distorted by the intervening invisible dark matter within the cluster (Hubble s Dark Matter Map). In the 1930s, an astronomer named Fritz Zwicky theorized dark matter. He studied the Coma galaxy cluster, specifically how fast the cluster revolves. The speed of the revolution depends on the weight and position of the matter within the cluster. The speed that Zwicky measured implied that the cluster had more matter than what matter was observable. Then, in the 1970s, Vera Rubin and her team justified Zwicky s idea by studying galaxy rotation with better technology. The work of Rubin helped to establish the notion of dark matter (Dunbar). Dark matter is one of the main mysteries in the universe, that cosmologists still do not know much about. Dark matter is non baryonic matter, discovered in the 1930s, that is a main component of our known cosmos. Dark matter is made after WIMPs, colliding, making gamma rays. Using the gamma rays emitted, astrophysicists detect the placement of dark matter. With the next technological advancements in the studies of our universe, cosmologists can acquire new information about dark ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
