Native American literature is in its self a very unique way of telling stories. In these types of
stories, I found that the stories were much different than the stories of the northern American
writers I was used too. What I found was the most interesting about the native American writers

name for this island. Takeshima, a Bamboo Island, is what Japanese call it. Both Japan and South

While walking to work I was pondering to my self why I wanted to be a social worker. As a young
man I have always wanted more out of life. I grew up in a small farm town North side of the
border of Mexico. I am the oldest of three children (two sisters). My parents were both working
with the school district, my father a teacher/coach, my mothera social worker. My parents were well
educated and believed in obtaining an education. They taught me school is a great way to

Why College Students Are Not Success In College
Through the years in America, more students in each generation of college are being successful
and finishing college. The latest data show that just 40 percent of Americans have finished an
associate s degree or above, while an additional 22 percent attend some college but failed to
graduate (Kelly, p.1). The 22 percent of college students who are failing to graduate, could be the
college students who are not being successful in college. There are many reasons why students are
not successful in college. Some main reasons students are not successful in college are typical
because of drugs, stress, time managementand procrastination, lack of desire and persistence and
also poor self esteem and lack of self confidence. One reason why students are not successful in
college is that of drugs. When students leave their homes to go off to college they meet new
people, and experience overjoy of new freedom. When students notice that they are experiencing
new freedom, they try new and different things. One of the main things students try that are new
and different, depending on where the student is from, are drugs. Students use drugs for a lot of
different reasons. Students use drugs to cope with stress, try to maintain course load, and they
are influenced by peer pressure. In college, drugs are taken too far once students start to use
them. Those who are enrolled in a full time college program are twice as likely to abuse drugs
and alcohol than those who don t attend college (College students and Drug Abuse). The students
who abuse drugs in college are the students that are normally not successful in college. The drugs
take over the mind and students become unfocused and behind in school work, which leads to
students failing out of college. Another reason why students are not successful in college is that of
stress. Relationships, family issues and cost of tuition are stress related factors that are dealt with a
college student. The America Institute of the street website says, a 2008 mental health study by the
Associated Press and mtvU eight in 10 college students say they have experienced stress in their
daily lives over the past three months (Stress in College Students p. 1). The college that I
