The book takes place in late 1800 s Hawaii, and I liked how well Heidi has the vibes and feel of

the turning point where Hawaii lost more of its Hawaiian culture, and became overrun by foreign

3. Migration Overview

My Earliest Memory Of Science
My earliest memory of science in elementary school was in first grade. I remember walking into
the classroom early in the morning and seeing plant pots lined up in the back of the room. Of
course one of us asked, Mrs. Denny, what are those for? She answered like any experienced
teacher We will get to those after lunch. Thank you for noticing though. As a young student, I
was more interested about taking the plant home to my mom and showing her what I did. After
lunch, we went on a walk to the atrium in the center of the school. Mrs. Denny pointed out the
different kinds of plants that were in the atrium like flowers, and other small plants. We walked
back to our classroom and talked about what a plant needs to grow and finally got to make a
plant ourselves. We each had a cup of water, a cup of soil, a pot, and a plant. I also remember in
third grade learning about the weather by creating a big picture of the water cycle with the
clouds and why there is lightening and thunder. After we made the picture, we each got to write
down a question about weather and Mrs. Heffernan went over each one. I loved science when I
was little because I was able to explore and try new things. I struggled in math and reading
because they were very black and white but science allowed creativity. I enjoyed science in
elementary school because it was very hands on so I didn t have to sit in my seat. I would define
science has a content area that allows the individual to research and develop

Social Class And Underachievement In Sociology
Pursuing this discussion further, it could be implied that there is a connection drawn between
education and social class. Usually when conferring about these two aspects, social class and
underachievement becomes the focus of attention. Working class children experience a much
greater cultural clash when they enter schoolthan those from more privellaged homes (Giddens
and Griffiths, 2006, p.710). Gillborn and Youdell (2000) took this further suggesting how
teachers believed that ability was fixed (Darmody, Tyrrell and Song, 2011) and saw working
class pupils as having less ability and as lower achievers. Dunne and Gazeley (2008) also believe
that underachievers came from working class backgrounds and were labelled as underachievers
which resulted in many internalizing it and living up to the self fulfilling prophecy. Both
sociologists defined working class underachievement in a manner which was beyond outside their
control by locating their reasoning on aspects such as a low quality of life at home for such
individuals (Lawson, Heaton and Brown, 2010). And reflected in the minutiae of teachers
perception and interactions with students (Youdell, 2006, p.15) this is when teachers expectations
of working class students as lazy trouble some and middle class pupils as bright (Hargreaves, 1967)
is translated into actual outcomes affecting the educational achievement of different social classes.

The Effect Of Sleep On The Regulation Of Emotional...
Introduction The goal of this study was to investigate the role of sleep in the regulation of
emotional reactivity and mood, and in particular the role of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep.
The research team led by Rosales Lagarde measured the impact of total sleep deprivation (TSD)
by evaluating subjective responses to frustration and aversive stimuli. It was found that coping
skills and emotional regulatory abilities were decreased along with decision making skills
following REM sleep disturbances. It was also found that the subjects that experienced
disturbances in REM sleep displayed a greater degree of impulsiveness when faced with a risky
decision and favored utilitarian judgments. The data was collected using functional magnetic
resonance imaging (fMRI) imaging of the brain during the various stages of the experiment, and
during the administration of the Emotional Reactivity Task. It was found that there is a greater
and longer lasting activation of the amygdala while viewing negative stimuli, and specifically
following TSD. This study was based on previous research that suggests that REM sleep plays a
significant role in emotional regulation, as brain areas associated with emotion are specifically
activated during REM sleep cycles. These include the amygdaloid complex, medial and orbital

and fighting. As I read April Morning I found it very hard to stop reading. It is a fast moving
book that goes through, in detail, each battle that Adam had to face in just 24 hours. I loved
Adams character mostly because of his sarcasm in the beginning of the novel. I liked the fact
