Ergonomics is the science of fitting jobs to the people who do them with the goal of reducing work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) that can result from repetitive motions like reaching, bending, lifting, using force, working with vibrating equipment, and other repetitive motions required by some jobs. Effective ergonomics programs aim to address general ergonomic hazards covered under the general duty clause of the Occupational Safety and Health Act.
