I Can do WHAT with PCMCS? Features and Functions, Business Benefits, and Use...Alithya
Profitability is a major indicator of business performance. Unfortunately, the typical financial system manages expenses and revenues from different perspectives. As a result, finance teams often rely on large, complex allocation models (sometimes “black box” systems) to provide management with the strategic P&Ls by geographical area, business unit, product, segment, and more—all in an attempt to pivot from “what it is,” to “what it’s for.” Regardless of industry, company size, or function, more strategic insight into underlying cost structures and their impact on profitability is necessary.
Oracle Hyperion Profitability and Cost Management Cloud Service (PCMCS) is a performance management application that introduces a world of possibilities for organizations to enhance financial data generated through their general ledgers and EPM systems into meaningful, accurate, and consumable information. Unlike traditional profitability systems, which require a large investment in both infrastructure and related technical overhead, PCMCS allows business users to easily create and manage their profitability systems with unparalleled speed and efficiency, supporting numerous use cases in both the financial close and management reporting domains, including IT financial management, operational transfer pricing, expense allocations, fully allocated P&L, strategic P&Ls, and operational profitability.
Attend this session to learn how PCMCS is an effective solution with benefits for every industry—one that empowers business users to gain insight into hidden profit and cost across key business dimensions. The presentation provides an overview of business needs using a perspective around corporate and shared service allocations. You’ll also gain insight into the PCMCS solution capabilities and functionality, including a comparison to other EPM tools, and we’ll share specific use cases.

Presentación de Oracle Database Cloud Service como servicio en la nube, tema de interés puntero puesto que actualmente la dirección de las empresas va en ese punto de llevar sus bases de datos y aplicaciones a la nube.
When companies first deployed business applications on-premise, they bought separate solutions from many different companies.
This forced them to do an expensive and complex integration of all these systems: A big problem.
When Cloud Computing took off a decade ago, companies were hoping to solve that problem. But in many cases, they went and deployed separate Clouds from different providers - once again facing costly and tedious integrations: The problem persists.
Only Oracle can solve the problem: With a fully integrated SaaS suite that covers an entire organization, from Sales Automation to ERP to SPM, all designed to a common data model and built to integrate.
Please do not hesitate to reach out for more information.

It studies the various methodologies used to streamline data integration and enrich the data load cycle.
Additionally, EDMCS and cloud data management were leveraged to reduce duplicate master data maintenance while sharing key findings about this exciting new cloud service.
Winning Strategies for Oracle Cloud Adoption: Should You Test Drive, Lease, o...Joseph Alaimo Jr
Have you seen your future in Oracle EPM & Analytics Cloud? And do you know if it’s sunny or not? Over the last several years, many of our customers have asked that same question—should I move? If so, when? And if when, how? This presentation provides a series of case studies to highlight the different approaches customers have taken to assess and deliver to their internal business partners the features and benefits of Oracle Cloud. Whether taking an “assessment-only view,” “bring your own Cloud,” “dip your toe in the water,” or “big-bang” approach, gain insight into the pros and cons of different implementation approaches, business benefits, and product features—specifically focused on the EPM and Oracle Analytics Cloud product suite.
Essbase’s “Best in Class” calculation engine enables Essbase and Planning to satisfy a vast array of planning and analysis needs. Whether it’s on-premise, in PBCS custom databases, or in the EPBCS business processes, creating custom logic that meets any analytical need will generate enormous value for your organization. But to take advantage of that power and avoid costly mistakes, you must thoroughly understand what you’re working with.
The Visual Approach to Essbase calculations was developed and refined over 20 years of Essbase and Planning projects with thousands of hours of training. Now, it’s been updated for the cloud and Hybrid Aggregation. The Visual Approach uses many diagrams and visualizations to walk through exactly how Essbase thinks, starting with a thorough explanation of dimensionality, the Essbase calc cycle, global calculation, and controlling calculation scope. It demystifies sparse and dense, showing how to make the block your friend in order to make your calculations (and other Essbase/Planning operations) quickly. Finally, it explains a handful of the most important commands and functions.
This presentation is for power users, admins, and developers who are either new to Essbase and Planning calculations or need to improve their calculation skills. It provides a thorough understanding of the concepts governing Essbase calculations and the core set of commands and functions that are used in virtually every calc script and business rule. It gives you the confidence to tackle new calculation challenges and write better, faster, and more powerful business rules.

Integrated Planning Using Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service at ...Joseph Alaimo Jr
Presentation to demonstrate how a world leader in metal, electronics, and curbside recycling, implemented the Oracle Enterprise Planning and Budgeting Cloud Service (EPBCS) application to satisfy their forecasting and budgeting needs. The solution uses a Hybrid architecture, in which on-premises Financial Data Management Enterprise Edition (FDMEE) is used for data integration, for loading from source systems to EPBCS, and to integrate post forecast data with on-premises Hyperion Financial Management (HFM).
Predictive Planning is an element of Oracle EPM's focus on Intelligent Performance Management, which is automating as much as possible in order to free up humans to do the real thinking. Predictive Planning is advanced statistical forecasting made easy and tightly integrated into EPBCS. It includes methods such as linear regression, exponential smoothing, and seasonality. For each forecast, it tests many different techniques and creates a forecast using the best one. You might use the results as your primary forecast, you might use them as your forecast seed, or you might use them to compare to and validate human-made forecasts. You don’t need a PhD in statistics. In fact, it’s a good way to learn more about statistical forecasting techniques (aka data science).
So how exactly does it work, and how can you use it to improve your forecasts? This presentation provides a quick overview of the statistical techniques and error measures. It identifies some potential use cases from finance, sales, and HR. Finally, it digs into some examples of how to set up and implement the cube. This presentation is intended for EPBCS admins and developers, as well as Finance, Sales, and HR planners who want to improve their forecasting and analytics.

True Power of Oracle's Enterprise Planning Suite Unleashed at POETJoseph Alaimo Jr
POET, a leading biofuel company specializing in the production of ethanol and ethanol co-products, needed a platform to support its performance management initiatives and ultimately the company mission, which required generating fully integrated income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow projections over a five-year planning horizon. It needed a system that could provide short-term detailed operational budgeting capabilities for various aspects of the business (i.e. SG&A, capital planning, project planning) while also delivering a flexible solution to allow for higher level long-range planning. In search of these overall process improvements and efficiencies related to the budgeting and long-range planning processes, POET turned to Oracle and Ranzal to deliver a best in-class solution using Oracle’s suite of EPM applications. A guide through POET's process using the “right tool for the right job” mantra, to unleash the true power of Oracle’s Enterprise Planning suite including Oracle Hyperion Strategic Finance, Hyperion Planning (including Workforce, Capital and Project Financial Planning), Essbase, and Financial Data Management Enterprise Edition.

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
PHP Frameworks: I want to break free (IPC Berlin 2024)Ralf Eggert

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
