Essay American Revolution
Crafting an essay on the subject of the American Revolution can be a formidable task, laden
with complexities and nuances that demand meticulous research and analysis. The magnitude of
this historical event and its multifaceted implications necessitate a deep understanding of not
only the chronology of events but also the socio-political, economic, and ideological
underpinnings that precipitated such a monumental shift in global affairs.
Navigating through a sea of divergent perspectives and scholarly interpretations poses a
significant challenge, requiring a discerning eye to sift through disparate accounts and discern the
most salient arguments. Moreover, capturing the essence of the revolution's impact on various
segments of society, from the Founding Fathers to marginalized groups like enslaved Africans
and Indigenous peoples, demands a comprehensive examination that incorporates a multitude of
voices and experiences.
Furthermore, synthesizing these diverse elements into a cohesive narrative requires adept critical
thinking skills and the ability to contextualize historical events within broader thematic
frameworks. Analyzing the revolution's ramifications on subsequent political developments, both
domestically and internationally, adds another layer of complexity to the task at hand.
Despite the formidable nature of this undertaking, delving into the intricacies of the American
Revolution offers a rewarding intellectual journey, one that not only deepens our understanding
of the past but also sheds light on contemporary socio-political dynamics. By grappling with the
complexities inherent in this pivotal moment in history, we gain valuable insights into the
enduring struggle for liberty, equality, and justice.
In conclusion, while composing an essay on this topic may present formidable challenges, the
opportunity to unravel the complexities of the American Revolution and its enduring legacy is
both intellectually stimulating and profoundly enriching.

The theme of carelessness in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott...
I couldn t forgive him or like him, but I saw that what he had done was, to him,
entirely justified. It was all very careless and confused. They were careless people,
Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and creatures and the retreated back into
their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was the kept them together, and
let other people clean up the mess they had made (Fitzgerald 180 181). In the novel
The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgerald, the characters Daisy and Tom demonstrate
the theme of carelessness. Tom and Daisy show carelessness through being foolish
thus lacking a lack of good sense or judgment. Furthermore, they both show the theme
of carelessness by being inconsiderate of others. The theme of negligence is... Show

You forget there s a lady present, said Jordan. Daisy looked around doubtfully You
kiss Nick too.
What a low, vulgar girl!
I don t care! cried Daisy, and began to clog on the brick fireplace. (Fitzgerald 116) It
is evident that Daisy s words I don t care show that she is inconsiderate of other
peoples feelings. She rudely shows her affection for Gatsby in public without
considering the fact that Nick and Myrtle are present. In addition to being
inconsiderate of Nick and Jordan, Daisy is inconsiderate to Tom as well. She
looked at him [Tom] blindly. Why how could I love him possibly? (Fitzgerald 132)
It is extremely inconsiderate to be telling Tom the man to whom she is married that
she never loved him. Therefore, even though Tom showed carelessness through
being inconsiderate of Daisy, Daisy was the more careless one because she was
inconsiderate of more people as a result of her behaviour. These people include Nick,
Jordan, and Tom.
Finally, both Tom and Daisy show carelessness through being foolish. Tom Buchanan
exhibits foolishness by physically harming Daisy. We all looked. The knuckle was
black and blue.
You did it, Tom, she said accusingly.
I know you didn t mean to, but you did do it. That s what I get for marrying a brute
of a man, a great, big, hulking physical specimen of a (Fitzgerald 12) This is
significant because since Tom was foolish by acting on impulse, Daisy got injured.

Women s Rights And Equality
Although women s rights and equality is progressing in the United States, there are
progressing countries trying to achieve their overall gender index rank, which
measures the human development of a country. From 2006 to 2014, Egypt s
inequality gender gap index rank has increased significantly from 109 to 129 out of
173 countries of the world (Bekhouche, Hausmann, Tyson, Zahidi). During Ancient
Egypt, women and men had the same rights to resources such as personal health,
work, and education. But today, Egyptian women are suffering from sexual assault
and sexual harassment everyday.
Sexual assault is a form of a sexual act that the victim does not want and it is forced
upon them. Rape, forced vaginal penetration, groping (unwelcome ... Show more

As defined by the World Health Organization, female genital mutilation is a process
that alters and causes pain to the female genital organs, usually for non medical
reasons. Although this practice is banned and illegal in most countries, this is still
happening behind doors in Egypt for traditional reasons.
The problem with modern Egypt is that women s rights have been deteriorated
over the decade. Today, sexual harassment has become a social norm in Egypt. It
does not matter if the victim is young, old, married, not married, or dressed
appropriately because they will become a victim of sexual harassment. Since
sexual harassment and assault is being silenced and overlooked around Egypt, it is
slowly becoming socially acceptable to do this act. Because of FGM, women
cannot control or have a say of what they can do with their own body. It also causes
long term effects that will harm their health in the genital area. In order for women
and girls to feel safe in Egypt, sexual assault needs to be recognized and laws
against it should be appropriately enforced by free resources and help, and fix the
streets of Egypt by adding a police force. Also, FGM should not be overlooked
because even though there is a law against it in Egypt, it is still happening behind
closed doors and creating an unhealthy procedures for girls and women.
One of the best solutions to stop sexual harassment and assault is to have resources

Nightingale Values

Re:Topic 3 DQ 2
The nursing profession has evolved significantly since its inception, and as nurses, we
have a responsibility to continue to drive our profession in the right direction. Part of
that responsibility revolves around an adherence to professional values that influence
how nurses perform their job. In fact, the profession s values give direction and
meaning to its members, guide nursing behaviors, are instrumental in clinical
decision making, and influence how nurses think about themselves (Cresia Friberg,
2011, p. 49). The Nightingale Pledge was initially meant to convey the founding
principles within the nursing profession, and gives value to the profession.
Continually, the pledge helped shape the public image of nurses by establishing
nursing s inherent core values. Some of these were initially describes as ... Show more

Additionally, they help provide the moral courage to face tough decisions and

established core message of nursing aids every member of the profession in
understanding the importance of values, morals, and ethics in the delivery of holistic
nursing care. Thankfully, the nursing profession is one of the most unique disciplines
within healthcare, and the value that nurses place on patient advocacy illustrates how
dynamic the relationship between a patient and their nurse can be. Ethics is an
essential component of nursing care, and is embedded in the profession s
fundamental makeup, in nurses character, and how they deliver care. It is important
for nurses practicing in today s challenging healthcare settings to understand, value,

Views on Colonialism in Donne s Elegy XIX and Wroth s Sonnet 22
Introduction
In the midst of Lady Mary Wroth s sonnet cycle, a sudden reference to the colonialist
discoveries of dark skinned natives appears. Bringing to mind her participation in
Jonson s Masque of Blackness, she depicts dark skinned Indians worshipping the sun
as their god. In the midst of her ruminations on love and her preoccupations with her
unfaithful lover, Amphilanthus, this sonnet touches on issues close to her personal
life as well as some of the preoccupations of her era on the nature of colonialism. In
particular the role of religion in England s colonialist efforts was of prime
importance. An examination of John Donne s Elegy XIX, To His Mistris... Show

Over 300 settlers were killed, however the main settlement was spared due to the
last minute warning delivered by the Indians who had been converted by the
missionary efforts of the colonists (www.apva.org). In May of this same year, Donne
was made an honorary member of the Virginia Company. However, he was not by
either gift or subscription, an adventurer or shareholder (Johnson 130 131).
Of critical importance to understanding the depth of Donne s preoccupation with
this issue of colonialism is the sermon he delivered on November 13, 1622 before
the Virginia Company. It was immediately published as A Sermon vpon the VIII.
Verse of the I. Chapter of the Acts of the Apostles (Johnson 135). The sermon itself
is often considered the first missionary sermon ever preached in England (Johnson
128). Donne admonishes the investors of the Virginia Company for not placing
their duties as missionaries above, or even equal to, their economic interests. O, if
you would be as ready to hearken at the return of a ship, how many Indians were
converted to Christ Jesus, as what trees, or drugs, or dyes that ship had brought, then
you were in your right way, and not till then (Donne 229).
Johnson makes the argument in his article, Donne and the Virginia Company, that
Donne s sermon was delivered at a critical time in the history of the Virginia
Company.
A Complicated Kindness Essay
Sexual Experimentation, Drug and Alcohol Abuse In The Virgin Suicides and A
Complicated Kindness, the restrictions that religion puts in place cause the youth to
rebel against that religious system. In A Complicated Kindness, it is made clear
from the beginning of the text that there is a ban on the media, dancing, smoking,
temperate climates, movies, drinking, rock n roll, having sex for fun, swimming,
make up, jewellery, playing pool, going to cities, or staying up past nine o clock
(Toews 5). These strict rules against what are considered standard activities lead
Nomi to rebel. For example, Nomi takes up smoking, drinking and has premarital sex
with her boyfriend Travis. Additionally, Nomi wears a bonnet for the Mennonite
church service,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the beginning of the text, it is clear that Lux is sexually charged. The first
time sexuality is attributed to her is when Peter Sissen has dinner at the Lisbon
house. When Peter uses the bathroom, he finds a used tampon, which belongs to
Lux as she knocks on the door to get something private (Eugenides 8). In a sense,
Lux s rebellious behaviour and sexual awakenings have contributed to her
destruction of the self. As it has been established, her sexual actions with Trip after
the prom result in her entrapment in the house, including the remaining girls,
though they arrived home on time. As well as not being allowed to leave the
house, the girls are pulled out of school. Additionally, Mrs. Lisbon makes Lux
throw all her rock records into the fire (138 39), which further establishes her
control. One could argue that the records for Mrs. Lisbon promote rebellious
behaviour, connecting her daughter s to Satan. Additionally, it could be argued
that this event drives Lux to further rebel as the records were the one thing that
would keep her sanity as well as being a part of her identity. Her loss and
destruction of her identity is confirmed as she further goes against her mother s
strict rules. She does so by performing sexual favours for men on the roof of their
house. This allows Lux to escape her entrapment for a
English As A Medium Of Instruction Worldwide
Over the last half century, the internationalisation of higher education has become a
priority for many countries particularly in Asian regions. This has had a significant
impact on the use of English as a medium of instruction worldwide. The following
essay presents an overview of how English is used in higher educationinstitutions in
both Malaysia and China. It aims to assess why English holds such importance within
their educationsystems which this will be done through the studying of implemented
government policies and student/academic staff experiences.

In Malaysia, English is spoken and used as a second language with the Malaysian
education system, making it a compulsory subject for all levels of education.
Malaysia s multicultural society makes it a natural environment for producing
students who are proficient in more than one language (Julie Dearden, 2014).
Malaysia was one of the earliest Asian countries to provide higher education
opportunities as far back as the 1980 s, when politicians started making improvements
to the standard of English after realising its importance.
Higher education in Malaysia is constructed of private and public institutions with
some offering franchised programmes under foreign branches. This development has
led to a significant increase in the number of colleges and universities within
Malaysia, helping the nation advance and establish itself as an education hub , to
which the Malaysian government has given considerable attention in developing
further. Private higher education has become a significant money making venture
which attracts tremendous interest from British, Australian and American
universities who want to export their education thus providing more international
students and perhaps regional students, since fees will be lower than the likes of the
United Kingdom where most international students currently study .
The Private Higher
Analysis Of Bless Me Ultima
It can be argued, as human beings, we are students of life, and death is one of the
hard lessons that we will encounter. Our faith is not a fixed concept, it is affected
by a convergence of factors and events in our life. A person s faith is a complex and
differs from one person to another, but one thing is for certain, it affects how we
look at life and how we approach life. Rudolfo Anayas Bless Me Ultima divulges into
the life an inquisitive six year old Antonio as he transitions from a young boy to a
man and becomes cognizant of life s tragedies. His inquisitive nature that persists to
understand himself and his world bears an internal struggle that leaves a rift of
ambivalence that mentally tears him between opposing ideals.... Show more content

He still goes back to the idea of his preordained future in priesthood. Anaya also
uses symbolism to show the stark contrast between the stain of blood and the sweet
waters of my river. The idea that Lupito s blood was spilled as a result of his
impure and sinful actions is now tainting and defiling the purity and sanctity of water
could be paralleled to Antonio s innocence defiled and diluted by the horrors he had
just witnessed. Arguably, Lupito s death is an unjustified persecution of an ill man.
His actions actions that he was not completely conscious of stemmed from the
horrors of war which brings about the question of justice. Why would God let this
man a man not fully conscious of his actions be held responsible, punished, and
persecuted?
The second death that Antonio witnessed furthered his negotiation with faith and
caused him to question God s fairness. Narciso s death permeated Antonio s vision
of a just God. Antonio questions how a compassionate God could co exist with the
presence of evil. During his life, Narciso was vilified and alienated. Tenorio s
killing of Narciso is an example of an archetypal Good versus Evil situation. Tenorio,
the nefarious manifestation of all that is evil, condemned Narciso, a misunderstood
but ultimately, a good man, to his death. He looks to God for Narciso s salvation.

Rockford High School Bog Walk Essay
Every year, the honors biology students who attend Rockford High School travel
on a school bus to a secret location. Some years, the windows on the bus have been
blocked with black construction paper so the eager kids dressed in their old sweat
pants and shirts will not be able to memorize the path taken by the driver. After
journeying on endless dirt roads, the schoolbuses emerge to see a farmhouse with
nothing except for a vast wilderness behind it and of course, the students are not
there for the farmhouse. One group on the annual bog walk last May were my
closest friends and I. Walkingthrough the woods was nothing new to us, but
treading through a viscous bog filled with logs and animals that could be lurking
right in front of our next step, was a completely different story. One moment, I was
stepping on the comfort of dry land, and the next, I was wading waist deep in the
unknown cold, black water. Towards the end of the trip, my class and I approached
a field surrounding a puddle of murky water. Jump in, my teacher told us.
Immediately, a group of students took the plunge and were submerged into the
swamp. I kept asking myself, how deep is it? Would I touch the bottom? . I had to
push all of those thoughts out of my head. I took the hands of my friends, and
together, we leaped into uncharted territory.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The Lewinsky Scandal, 1998
Literature Review: The Lewinsky Scandal, 1998
For the past few centuries, political scandals have become a permanent fixture in US
politics. Most recently, when we think of scandals in American politics the 1998
Clinton Lewinsky Affair comes to mind. Though unlike its predecessors this scandal
was not one of constitutional crises such as Nixon s Watergate in the 1970s, but it
instead concerned the extramarital affairs of the then incumbent president, William J.
Clinton. Bill Clinton, as he is more commonly known by, was elected as the 42nd
US President in 1993 and served the maximum two terms in office, ending in 2001.
Under Clinton the American economy benefited greatly and financial stability
became more of a reality for many. However Clinton s presidential legacy is also
marked by his affair with Monica Lewinsky and his impeachment. He had become
the second sitting president in history to be impeached by the House of
Representatives. The Lewinsky affair shocked the public and the media along with
the right wing were keen to see Clintons demise. Washington became even more
vicious as political opponents of the President pursed him to no extent. Though
officially he could not be charged for having an affair, he could be held accountable
for lying under oath and misleading the jury during a trial. Clinton s adulterous affair
split opinions and became a talking point for all. Many accounts were written about
the Lewinsky affair, all with differing viewpoints on the
Life And Death That Polish Literature
Writing thrives as a favorable way of expressing one s ideas and beliefs. Sharing
one s thoughts on paper has always been part of the role of being a writer; it serves
a purpose of writing a reflection of one s personal thoughts and opinions. From the
Medieval era to the Renaissance era, Poland is remarked as a period of change.
Poland was expanding as a country and many political events were occurring. During
this span of time, Polish literature signifies various changes in its themes, beliefs and
language all constituted with a purpose. The theme of life and death overpowers
Polish literature written during these two eras. Two pieces that demonstrate an
experience of death and how the author s worldview comes through the text are Jan...

The piece that demonstrates a wide scope of his worldview is Laments. Jan
Kochanowski expresses his despair and emotions after the loss of his child in the
form of treny. Treny are an older style of writing that praise the life and
accomplishments of those who passed, especially well known figures.
Kochanowski s Laments can be distinguished from the typical treny for the sole
reason that the subject is a child instead of a famous or intellectual individual.
However, the main character in Laments is Kochanowski himself. He plays the role
of a grieving father and author who struggles to find the value and trust in any
philosophy, religion and life itself after his daughter s death disrupted his reality. In
the article Why We Write About Grief, Oates explains that Grief is the most humane
of emotions but it is a one sided emotion; it is not reciprocated. This is exactly what
makes Laments credible for the Kochanowski s worldview through death. He
experienced it himself as a parent; one cannot simply understand how it feels to lose
a child. It is not a typical telling of a story about death; it is the dark emotions of a
mourning father. Throughout the Laments, Kochanowski intertwines the theme of
searching ways to relieve pain and his bitter reflection on death. Specifically, he
expresses a rebellion against death.

Causes And Effects Of Anxiety
Anxiety IS a huge problem among the young generations in today s world.
Affecting those from all ages, many cases originating from around teenage years. I
m sure many of you have had a moment in your life where anxiety has withered its
way into your world affecting the way you do things. Many cases of anxietybegin in
school, which in incredibly inconvenient as the students affected by it will be
wanting to succeed. Anxiety itself is a natural human response that serves a purpose.
Therefore, I believe when it gets out of control we should not think of getting rid of
it all together but more to keep it healthy. As to the causes, though there are many, my
top 4 would have to be bullying, school pressure, the future and fearof failing. What
these can do is create unhealthy thinking patterns which becomes a serious problem
among young people when it starts disrupting their regular routine. I personally think
these thinking patterns can very easily turn into diagnosed disorders such as PTSD,
GAD.
Bullying is a very common cause of anxiety among young people today. People
who are affected by some form of bullying often results them having recurring
thinking patterns e.g. experiencing flashbacks, having nightmares, panic attacks,
and a lot of them live in the fear that they will experience it again which in some
ways never switches these patterns off. I believe that because anxiety has this effect
where it fully takes control of people s lives, it should be recognized. I m sure

How The Misfortunes In The Fall Of The House Of Usher
The theme in The Fall of the House of Usher by Edgar Allen Poe is that Poe argues
marrying too closely to the family line can bring misfortunes. Historically, aristocratic
families intermarried with relatives too closely to continue their family tree. The
narrator mentions that the entire family lay in the direct line of descent and had
always with very trifling and very important variation, so lain (Poe 2). From this
comment, Poe is suggesting that there might have been marriages between relatives.
As such, the Usher family has had numerous misfortunes, such as not setting out an

mental disorders. Medically speaking, interbreeding for a couple of generations can

ended because of too many consanguineous marriages. The last heir to the throne
was King Charles II, who was physically disabled, mentally retarded, and

consanguineous marriage in aristocratic families, was Queen Victoria. She was a

resulting in no formation of a scab. Any minor fall or injury could kill a person
suffering from the disease. Queen Victoria s great grandson, Prince Alex, died of

INTRODUCTION
The primary goal of the current research study was to investigate the relationship
between students participation in an online discussion forum and students overall
academic performance in a hybrid format graduate level science course. More
specifically, our primary research question was: Does students participation in an
online discussion forum integrated into an open source course management system
improve students academic performance in a hybrid format graduate level science
course? In addition, our secondary research question was: How consistently can the
results of the current investigation be extrapolated to academic courses in other
disciplines (i.e. arts, humanities, law) and to academic courses at other academic
levels (i.e. undergraduate, high school, middle school)? To the best of our knowledge,
the aforementioned are academically significant and, thus far unanswered, research
questions because previous research studies have yielded equivocal and, often
contradictory, results regarding this subject. To be specific, in their 2005 research
article published in the British Journal of Educational Technology, Davies and Graff
investigated the relationship between frequency of participation in an online
discussion forum and academic performance, quantified via final grades, of a sample
of 122 undergraduate students at the University of Glamorgan, United Kingdom. In
conclusion, these researchers reported that underachieving students, the students

Analysis of Symbiosis Between Medicago Truncatula and...
1.This work aims to analyze the existence of both partner choice and plant sanctions

experiments with natural strains (Gubry Rangin et al. 2010). NoГ« Hammerstein

The nodule number was significantly higher in roots inoculated with the non fixing

In the mixed treatment, a significantly higher biomass per nodule was measured for

Research Paper On Beowulf
A Legend. We all know one when we see one. The principle request is what is the
one thing that makes some person a legend? Properties of what it means to be a
legend are exhibited all through Anglo Saxon focus qualities. A champion amongst
the most prestigious works from that time period is Beowulf. The story tells us of
how one man, Beowulf, sails to the rescue of King Hrothgar and his kinfolk
remembering the final objective to extra them from a horrifying beast that is
undermining their lives and additionally their way of life. The warrior Beowulf
without a doubt demonstrates characteristics of an epic legend through valor,
dedication, generosity, family relationship, accomplishing something of amazing
worth, giving people a suspicion that all is well and great, and being sharp.
In any case, Beowulf showcases his chivalrous nature through his valor every single
through greetings venture. Conventionally in the midst of his epic excursion, he is
not hesitant to be overcome in every condition. One delineation from the story is, So
Beowulf picked the mightiest men he could find, the most courageous and best of
the Geats, fourteen taking all things together, and drove them down to their vessel
(119 122). This exhibits his dauntlessness in light of the way that he was the head
man for the Geats. By picking the mightiest and boldest people, Beowulf mirrors that
he himself probably been fundamentally more overcome to have the ability to lead
his respectable people. Thusly in
How Does Rap Music Affect Women
How does rap music and music videos today negatively portray women?
Rap has changed the faces of women in the community from a more positive image
to a more negative one. It is focused more on women s bodies and not their intellect.
Rap music portrays women by creating impossible beauty standards, dehumanizing
women and making women look inferior in the male s eye.
Rap music and videos portray women negatively by creating impossible beauty
standards. When watching videos such as Sir Mix A Lot s Baby Got Back, all
than is seen are skinny women with big breasts or big butts. When listening to
songs such as Tip Drill by Nelly, Nelly raps I said it must be the ass cause it ain t

In music videos, such as Lollipop by Lil Wayne and Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke
women are used as eye candy to the male and possibly some female viewers. In an
article written by Erin Aubry some high school students where asked if rap music
disrespected women. One student stated that Women do things for the video that
they didn t have to do if they didn t want. (Aubry, 2015). Although this may be true,
the directors of the videos do not have to put those women in those clothes. The
main reason that women are put in the video is to attract viewers. Most male and
some female viewers watch music videos to look at the women who can also be
known as video vixens . Another example of this is the song Birthday Song by 2
Chainz. The video primarily focuses on the female s body parts and pays attention
only to her body parts. The song only focuses on the female s physical feature and
not on anything else. Women are used simply for pleasure in these music videos.
They are not put in these videos because the artist thought that the woman simply had
The Signs Of The Gospel Of John Essay
Introduction
Amidst the disciples that had already seen the resurrected Christ, Thomas declares
that he will not believe unless he personally sees and feels Jesus for himself. To
which, on His appearance, Jesus said to him, Because you have seen Me, have you
believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed. Although the gospel of
John is clear that Jesus preformed many signs that are not recorded, he states that
the ones he records are for the purpose that those who have not seen may believe
and have life in His name. Therefore, the eight signs John chooses are very
important. These signs take Jesus out of the realm of the pious rabbi and challenge
the reader to see the hand of God, indeed, God Himself, actively working in Jesus. It
is the presence of God in the signs that Jesus preforms that show His deity.
Water is now wine (John 2:1 12)
John begins with, quite possibly, the most important sign. Just as John begins his
gospel placing Jesus squarely at the creation, so here He begins the signs with an act
of creation; turning water into wine at the marriage in Cana. Jesus mother was in
attendance. Her motive in informing Jesus that there was a lack of wine is unknown,
as well as what she expected temporally or miraculously. We can know from Jesus
response that it may have been a miracle that she intended. He uses the phrase My
hour, referring either to the appointed time, so that people might believe, or to the
ultimate new beginning, the cross.
The Tipping Point Analysis
Most celebrities just stick to shining in the spotlight and being a star, but a few use
their fame and platform to start a business and get a better name for themselves. In
the book, The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell, the author introduces a new
concept, The Laws of Epidemics, which includes The Law of the Few, Stickiness
Factor and Power of Context. A celebrityis always seen a connector, people who have
incredibly widespread social networks that play an integral role in the spread of
ideas and a salesperson, a person that specializes in the act of persuasion
(Gladwell). The stickiness factor plays a role in this particular trend because it
shows how and why celebrities around the world are all starting a new profession.

Personality Reflection Paper
Personality is a fascinating construct, and the number of different ways to measure
and define personality are many. One of the models that I believe helps to provide
a framework for me to define and describe my past experiences within the context
of personality theory is based on the traits of Openness, Conscientiousness,
Extroversion/Introversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. As I reflect on my
personality in early life and as I think about my personality today, it seems that
much of my personality has stayed the same. While some may argue that this
would mean that there are strong and extremely salient genetic contributions to my
personality, I think that my environment also helped to shape me into the person I
am today. Extroversion has always been one of my biggest personality facets. I
was the gregarious child who sat on the preschool teacher s leg during story time,
the class clown in elementary school, and the one who made friends with all of the
different cliques that were ubiquitous in my high school. Some would say that this
is genetically influenced to a large degree because both of my parents are also
extremely extroverted and they enjoy social gatherings and large groups of people.
However, in looking at my history, I see that the environment was ripe for social
connectedness and being social was familiar and expected. If I was naturally
extroverted (genetics), and grew up in a house of introverts who watched television
and read books in the evenings instead of having dinner parties, I think that my
extraversion would not be my strongest trait. Another strong personality trait of
mine is my openness. As a child, I wanted to be everywhere and see everything. As
a rambunctious child, I learned and explored, and as an adult, I do this, but in
different ways. Overall, I do not think my personality has changed to a large degree
since childhood, but my environment has definitely helped to keep some of my
strong traits in check. As reported, both nature and nurture shaped my early life and
developmental years of my personality. While I view nature as being those traits and
characteristics passed down from my parents through their genes, I think of nurture as
the environment in which I was raised,
Five Forces Analysis Of Nestle
Industry Environment Five Forces I.Threat of New Entrants Moderately High The
food processing industry is very large and competitive; it is not uncommon for
firms within the industry to do quite well. As a result, many companies enter into
the market every year in an attempt to gain a portion of the profitable market.
Luckily for NestlГ©, the company has been around for decades and boasts a long
history of quality products and consumer satisfaction, which has allowed the
company to obtain a considerable share of the market. It is demonstrated in
accelerated investment activity in the 2000 s which indicates long term
commitment in markets where Nestle operates, and construction of 16 factories
from 1993 2006 in China to meet consumer demand. As a result, new entrants into
the industry must attempt to seize a portion of NestlГ© s market share in order to
survive. However, over the years, new entrants with healthier alternatives have
threatened the status quo in markets like Asia, Africa and the United States.
Economies of Scale Nestle enjoys massive economies of scale because of its size.
Nestle has increased production while maintaining low cost through fewer factories.
This strategy has positively contributed to Nestle working capital. This advantage
of economies of scale is made possible because of Nestle s unmatched number of
factories around the world. The Swiss giants owns 418 factories in 81 countries. This
is how Nestle has effectively managed to localize

people Israel, when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven Your dwelling

When Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the
burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the temple. And the
priests could not enter the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled
the Lord s house. When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and

The Terrorist Attacks Of The United States Essay
Introduction
Living the United State when one thinks of a terrorist attacks often their mind will
first go to a larger scale attack such as the events of September 11th 2001. September
11, 2001 changed the United States forever, the terrorist attack that day marked a
dramatic escalation in a trend toward more destructive terrorist attacks which began
in the 1980s. It also reflected a trend toward more indiscriminate targeting among
international terrorists. The vast majority of the more than 3,000 victims of the attack
were civilians. In addition, the attack represented the first known case of suicide
attacks carried out by international terrorists in the United States. (Waston, 2002)
However as the years have gone by we have come to learn that terrorist attacks are
not always on a large scale and that even one person who is inspired by the
ideologies of a terrorist group without being directly connected to them can carry out
attacks. Those that engage in this type of terrorism are referred to as lone wolf
terrorist. A recent example of such an even was the mass shooting at the San
Bernardino Inland Regional Center in December of 2015.
Synopsis
On December 2, 2015 80 employees of the San Bernardino county health department
were attending a holiday event. The event was taking place in the convention
building at the Inland Regional Center. At around 11 a.m. two shooters with
semiautomatic rifles and pistols walked in and opened fire. Fourteen were killed and
21 wounded.
The Mystery Of Detective Fiction
Detective Fiction exists as one of the most popular fiction genres of all time.
Detective fiction uses facts and other details to solve a mystery which surrounds a
perplexing murder in a novel. Many people gain excitement over a challenge or a
test of knowledge when solving a puzzle. A puzzle may baffle or confuse the
puzzler; therefore, the puzzler likes to solve the puzzle before the ending. People
enjoy the experience of sheer satisfaction of solving a mystery before ending the
literary work. Curiosity describes itself as the desire to learn or know about
anything; inquisitiveness (Dictionary). Curiosity somehow leads people on the path
to try to solve a mystery or a puzzle. It remains a question of why people desire to
solve a puzzle. Maybe their inquisitive mind drives them to solve the puzzle or a
mystery. Often after the reader finishes reading a detective novel and solving the
mystery before the reveal of the murderer, they find this satisfying to their curiosity.
Thus they begin to continue reading more mystery fictional novels. The birth of
detective fictionsurfaced around the 19th century (Gaines). The Moonstone novel
considered the first detective novel written (Sahni). The novel created by Wilkie
Collins established the ground rules for detective novels. Before the detective fiction
surfaced, many novels conveyed the murderer as the innocent one, instead of the
victim as the innocent one. These works of fiction, unfortunately did not
Garrett Hardin Lifeboat Ethics Essay
What makes us human, what drives our humanity, our social contributions? What
separates us from common beasts? It s our ethics, our morals, the empathy we feel
towards each other that makes us worth anything more than the meat and bones our
bodies are comprised of. Garrett Hardin is an american economist and philosopher
who doesn t seem to grasp that. The argument of Lifeboat Ethicsis that all of
humanity is in a shipwreck, there are a few select rich countries with lifeboats. All
the other countries are floating in the water waiting for their inevitable doom and
hoping, praying for a spot on a lifeboat. He then complicates things further, each
lifeboat has a carrying capacity of 100 people, each lifeboat is currently carrying
90 people. So then what are the rich (in their make believe lifeboat) to do. Hardin
proposes three options the first is to let all the poor onto the lifeboat, exceeding the
carrying capacity and dooming everyone to a deathly... Show more content on

Hardins last issue is the limited amount of land on our precious planet. Brookings

matter how much wiggle room the lifeboat had. In a perfect, predictable world

Rhetorical Questions And Personification In Perseverance...
In my short essay Perseverance Island, I use rhetorical questions and personification
to develop the theme that success is developed through struggle. Throughout my
writing, I develop the scenery of a stormy day to correlate with the stormy days in
people s lives; along with the sunshine later on to connect to the prosperity that soon
follows. I keep an optimistic tone through the essay to keep the reader in a positive
mindset and for them to hopefully buy into the theme portrayed.
Throughout my creative nonfiction essay, I use rhetorical questions to have the reader
truly ask themselves the questions that connect to my overall theme. During the start
of my story, I ask How is success created with constant conflict (Ostler 1)? By asking
this question, the reader is asked how people become successful ... Show more

At the beginning of my essay, I introduce the weather by using personification. I
wrote that The thick fog and slight drizzle depressed the morning sky, paired with
The winds that whistled past our red faces (Ostler 1). The personification of the
natural elements connects the true animosity we faced during the beginning of the
ride; the examples give the reader a sense of empathy from the conflicts they face in
their lives. This connection takes the theme to a personal level. Furthermore, I
develop the theme using personification later in the story during the sunshine (or
success) phase. I described that The sun opened the skies and left little reminiscence
of the storm that lurked in its wakes, followed by The day that was growing warmer
(Ostler 2). Though these parts of nature aren t literally opening or growing, the
picture that it paints in the mind of the reader develops the true setting. The
personification aids the reader in illustrating both the negative and positive sides of
the story to understand the overall
Nature And Nurture In Lord Of The Flies
A feral child (also, colloquially, wild child) is a human child who has lived
isolated from human contact from a very young age, and has no (or little)
experience of human care. It is said that feral children are the real life experiment
that we cannot ethically carry out. They question what the defining factors in
human nature are and furthermore how much society impacts on our personalities.
The texts I have chosen are Romulus and Remus (Roman myth), The Girl with no
Name by Lynne Barret Lee, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling and Lord of the
flies by William Golding. All four texts propose that the experiences we have as a
child are the most significant ones in making us who we are. Most texts discuss
the idea of Nature Versus Nurture Nature and nurture relates to the inherent
qualities (nature) as opposed to personal experiences (nurture). In the 1954 classic
Lord of the Flies, Golding slowly shapes the boys and leads the reader from a
group of civilized young boys into true savages. Golding uses a metaphor to
compare [Jack s] laughter to the bloodthirsty snarling of an animal. This
demonstrates to the reader Jack s descent into barbarism and we question whether he
is more human or wild animal. The text is written in an omniscient third person so it
is easy to see the boy s predicament, What are we?... Show more content on

Symptoms And Treatment Of Cervical Spine Trauma
As a physical therapist working in an outpatient facility, majority of the patients that I
manage suffer from neck injuries sustained from motor vehicular accidents or a fall
incident. Handling patient with cervical spine injury is challenging as it is vulnerable
to further injury should it not be rehabilitated with extreme caution. It is essential that
the clinician should not rely solely on diagnostic reports and should perform
significant detailed assessments that include ligamentous stability tests with
individuals that had cervical spine trauma (Mckinnis, 2014 p. 159). It should be noted
that in any motor vehicular accident it is important to identify injurypatterns and
trauma protocols should be applied. Injuries brought about by motor vehicle
accidents are not always apparent. For instance, during evaluation there is no
evidence of any soft tissue damage or any manifestation of fractures, but one can still
end up with long term disability due to back or neck pain. With that, an exhaustive
physical examination coupled with an appropriate diagnostic procedure will give
more information about the patient s condition and guide treatment decisions. This is
truly vital because there are times reports that was initially identified as normal but
later progressed into something fatal that might bring about disability or worse death.
For this reason, it is indispensable for medical personnel to have sufficient knowledge
about radiologic findings. Therapists should be

is between how we say things in our way with how people of other cultures intend to
interpret the language as it presents itself in another form of understanding. It may
come across as just and understatement to the culture of people, but English spoken
individuals seem to always speak with an accusing sense of interpretation towards a
system or person. (Hamilton pp463) None the less Ms. Joan goes on to explain how
the structure of language and thought is apart of the culture revolution and the
relativity of what is trending at the time of a conference on psychology and

of such it reminds me to correct my speaking abilities in away for better coming

with all operations, there are dangers associated with the procedure. This paper
details the procedure, the different types that are available, and the inherent
problems that people have encountered as a result of liposuction. The basics of this
type of procedure are well known to the general public. First the patient will choose
the area of the body from which they want the fat cells removed, and, on the day of
the surgery, the surgeon will mark the area. Depending on the type of liposuction
the patient will receive either a general anesthetic or a local. Most procedures
require a general anesthetic since the procedure can be very painful and cover a
wide area. The surgeon may also inject certain fluids to assist in the procedure
depending on the type of liposuction that is to be performed. After this, the doctor
will make several small incisions at the point of fat cell removal in which cannula
will be placed. The cannula is a long hollow tube used to remove the fat cells
(DocShop). During the basic type of this surgery, the doctor will move the cannula

The Pros And Cons Of Rethinking A Nuclear Weapon
James Franck, a German physicist who worked with other scientists on the Manhatten
Project, argues that the United States should not be dropped on Japan. As Germany
relentlessly attempted to develop nuclear weapons, the United States joined the arms
race to counteract the Germans with the knowledge that the German government
would drop the bomb with no conscience. With no international authority, an atomic
bomb could result in destruction and be used for political pressure and sudden
destruction in war. Nuclear power cannot remain a secret from other countries if we
discover or create a nuclear bomb. The fundamental knowledge of nuclear power is
common knowledge and other nations may retrace our steps if we discover a nuclear
weapon. The attempt
Character Analysis Of Nora Helmer In A Doll s House
The main character I will be focusing on in A Doll s House, is Nora Helmer. When
I think of Nora Helmer s character in The Doll House, I often refer to a quote that
says Woman was taken out of man; not out of his head to top him, nor out of his
feet to be trampled underfoot; but out of his side to be equal to him, under his arm
to be protected, and near his heart to be loved. (Matthew Henry) It is a normal thing
for a woman especially Nora to be taken care of and sincerely given love and
affection in a marriage. As most readers go in depth in the play, it seems like Nora
has the perfect life and couldn t ask for anything more than to be able to keep her
family secured despite the serious debt they are facing and to have the love of her
kids and her significant other Torvald. But, that all changes in the end when she
realizes that her world had been a doll s house all along and that she hasn t
discovered her true purpose of life. She never had the opportunity as a woman in
her time to see the value of life and never had the ability for making decisions for
herself. She grew up being her father s doll child and continued to still be a doll for
the husband she had found. Her role as a woman, wife, and mother shelter her from
the boundless outside world. Because of her restricted environment, later her
relationship with her husband changes, would also negativity affect her
relationship with her children because she left her kids with her husband Torvald.
She never had the opportunity as a woman in her time to see the value of life and
never had the ability for making decisions for herself. Throughout the course of
history, women s roles in society have been ever changing. At one time, women
were expected to fulfill certain roles and not others. There has been a constant
struggle expanding roles of success for women and has been a controversial issue
for as long as there has been reported history. The problem is that the unspoken
assumption is that women are different (Chisholm). Women s roles in society were
not even close to what they are today. In the past, women were viewed as property.
During her time women were living in a reserved and submissive type of
environment where women weren t granted the
Negative Impact Of Social Media
Picture a world where beauty is determined by society, where nobody can truly
appreciate the content of their beings. This is the new world we are subconsciously
creating, a world where social media encourages people to communicate and share
their lives. The age demographic that is particularly predisposed to social media are
adolescents, with teenagers spending every waking minute online . Despite the fact
that the basis of social media is communication, it can have a negative impact on an
adolescent s ability to communicate with people in reality. Young individuals are
expected by society to own the flashiest clothing, mobile phones, cosmetics and many
more materialistic belongings. Social media certainly creates a false snapshot of
people s lives aiming to perceive lives of luxury and perfection which ultimately only
further encourages creating false online interpretations of their lives.
The future is in our hands according to Catherine Steiner Adair, a clinical
psychologist and author of The Big Disconnect. Body language, facial expression,
and even the slightest of vocal reactions are invisible which is a consequence to the
way young adolescents are influenced by technology. Social media hinders teenagers
from building themselves up as individuals because they focus all their time and
energy, creating a false representation of themselves and, through this process end up
losing their true identity. Direct communication is lost as social skills are developed
online .
Plato s Republic As A Guide
Let me tell you about the perfect republic. First, I ll describe it to you using Plato s
Republic as a guide. Then, I ll explain whether it is better to live in Plato s republic
or in a timarchy, oligarchy, democracy, or a tyranny. Plato s books create an ideal
city where there are the producers (farmers, craftsmen, etc.), the auxiliaries, also
known as the warriors, and the guardians, they are the rulers of this city. Each of
these groups must perform its job, and only that one job, and each must have the
right amount of amount of power in relation to the other groups. This then brings
us to the myth of metals, the guardians are gold, the auxiliaries are silver, and the
producers are iron and bronze (415a). The reason why the guardians are gold is
because they are the most precious and revered, and the quality of the metal or
soul goes down the farther you go down the class system. But before I get ahead of
myself how are guardians supposed to be rulers? Are they born knowing how to
rule? No, they are tested at a young age, and are brought to terrors and then cast
into pleasures testing them to see if they are perfect if they do not pass this test
they are to serve under the one who passes the trials (413d). Now Socrates was a
daring and creative man, and laid out three ideas known as the three waves of
ridiculousness. The first wave was a big one; he suggested that men and women alike
should get equal education. Is it possible to use any animal for the same things

Scout As A Role Model In To Kill A Mockingbird
Scout changes many times, but her presentation of herself remains the same. At
the beginning of the novel, Scout sees herself as gamine as she plays with her
brother and never had a female figure to be a role model. By the end of the novel,
she receives a taste of the outside world and what goes on beyond her house. With
Tom Robinson and the court case, all the way to Boo Radley the monster, Scout sees
and lives everything. In the novelTo Kill A Mockingbird, Scout displays herself as
obstinate, inquisitive, and gamine. One way scout displays herself is obstinate. For
example, at the beginning of the book, Scout s teachers tell her she is not allowed to
read at home anymore with her dad. Scout is very upset when she is told that. That
day when she runs home, she tries to convince her father, Atticus, to let her not go to
school because she wants to continue reading with him every night. Another example
where Scout is obstinate in the novel is when Jem, Scout s brother, Dill, Scout s
friend, and Scout go down to the courthouse to spy on Atticus and find him
confronting a mob of men. When Scout runs to see Atticus, Jem and Dill are forced
to follow. Scout then sees a man she knows, Mr. Cunningham, she tries many times to
get his attention but he does not respond. Hey, Mr. Cunningham... Hey, Mr.
Cunningham. How s your entailment gettin along?... Don t you remember me, Mr.
Cunningham? I m Jean Louise Finch.... I go to school with Walter Scout never gives
up on trying to get Mr. Cunningham to respond until finally he does, saying, I ll tell
him you say hey, little lady, (154) Scout s portraying being obstinate on not letting it
go when she tries to get his attention. Even when Mr. Cunningham continues to
ignore her, she is very stubborn about getting his attention to say hi. As Scout begins
to see what is outside of her home, she becomes an inquisitive person. For example,
Scout sits with Atticus every night and reads the daily newspaper, unlike most other
kids her age. Scout loves reading, that is why she never wanted to stop even when her
teacher told her she had to. She learns new things every night, even if she might not
understand them at the moment, she will learn more in the future. She was very
Management Principles Of Public And Nonprofit
Organizations
This semester we had the opportunity to explore management principles in public and
nonprofit organizations. We learned a range of concepts, theories, models and
techniques related to organizational and management theory, supervision,
communication, ethics, and a multitude of perspectives within organizations and
society. The concepts that were stressed by Lee G. Bolman Terrence E. Deal (2013)
in Reframing Organization was the structural, human resource, political and symbolic
aspects of organizational behavior. (Bolman Deal 2013). Exploring these
organizational structures have made me evaluate my own organization and I want to
present in my paper some of the concepts that we learned this semester and relate
them to my experiences I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This case ultimately set the precedent of how the IDJJ facilities would operate
under the Consent Decree. There were six IYC facilities IYC Chicago, Harrisburg,
Kewanee, Pere Marquette, St. Charles, and Warrenville. In 2016, IYC Kewanee
faced a closure. The state recently closed the facility in 2016 in hopes to save
money. Now there are only five IYC juvenile facilities operating under direct
supervision of Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice. The Illinois Department of
Juvenile Justice have been operating for almost eleven years. With IDJJ being a new
department, it is established, but there are still some management and organizational
issues that are still present within this organization. In prior post, I stated that my
organization runs similarly to Henry Mintzberg s five parts of an organization known
as the Mintzberg s five: the operating core, the strategic apex, the middle line, the
technostructure, and the support staff. The operating core represents workers who
are on the frontline and are responsible for producing the organization s services and
goods. The strategic apex is the organization s executive leadership that ensures that
operation is running smoothly and is in accordance with policy, procedure, and
organizational strategy. The middle line represents middle management. These
workers are responsible for supervising staff while taking instruction from the
strategic apex. The technostructure is responsible for training, work procedures,
Don t Be Afraid Gringo
In almost every culture, machismo (or patriarchy) exists. Women are considered
to be inferior and are treated as if they were objects. It is fair to assume that all
women have or will face abuse or oppression for the mere fact that they are women.
In Honduras, machismo is the backbone of society. In the book Don t Be Afraid
Gringo, Elvia Alvarado tells the story of the life of the Honduran campesinos
(peasants) in the context of the militarygovernment of Osvaldo LГіpez Arellano and
the installation of counterrevolutionary military bases between 1972 and 1975. The
campesina women are expected to be servants for the men and provide for all of
their children. If women dare to break away from these norms, they are denounced as
a whore and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The leader begins speaking of her personal life, describing her father and her
mother. She speaks of her eagerness to learn, but due to the lack of education in her
community, Elvia had to learn things the hard way. The first time that Elvia got
pregnant was at the age of 15 she did not know how to prevent pregnancy. Once her
older brother found out, he was Infuriated and threatened to take her life away.
Thus, she ran away to the capital (Tegucigalpa). Since it was her first time leaving
the village, she spent the whole afternoon and the next day sitting in the pew, afraid.
She eventually managed to get a temporary job as a domestic assistant. Elvia has six
children in total, three of them with the same father, the other part of two men. All
the of their fathers fled, forcing Elvia to provide for all of her children on her own.
Her narrative then continues with the delimitation of spaces: men exist. Usually out
of the house, meanwhile, women work at home. However, she notes that for the
peasants, the situation is even worse because some men do not help the family
economically or collaborate with them. That is, they control the family economy
without publicly acknowledging it, but as victims of machismo. In this sense, men
and women are responsible for social change.
The respective context of life experiences reflects that even when there is a
specificity with respect to each geographical area, the consequences of neoliberal

Bacterial Unknown Lab Report
There are many differents ways to identify a bacterial unknown and many different
situations where identification would be beneficial. One way to identify bacterial
unknowns is to perform biochemical tests. In this experiment multiple biochemical
tests were done, by performing these tests on the bacterial unknown received the two
different bacteriawere then identified. The citrate test is done to test the ability of
organisms to use citrate as a carbon source. This test uses Simmons citrate agar, the
agar contains sodium citrate as the only carbon source and has bromothymol blue as
the pH indicator. The organisms that use citrate as a carbon source use the enzymeto
transport the citrate into the cell. The cells converts ammonium dihydrogen... Show

One of these reasons is in regards to pathogens. If a bacterium is pathogenic, it is
important to know the identity of the bacteria so that its characteristics can be
examined and used in the treatment of the infected host. For example, if the
identification of an unknown pathogen leads to the knowledge that the pathogen
contains a beta lactam ring in its cell wall, a drug targeting this cellular component
can be used in the treatment of this pathogen. If this information was unknown and
the pathogen did not contain a beta lactam, the drug would not help the infected
host. Another reason it is beneficial to identify unknown bacteria is for clinical
uses. Many pharmaceutical drugs are based upon or isolated from products made
by bacteria. Penicillin is an obvious example of a beneficial drug that was isolated
from a mold. By identifying new bacteria and discovering the unique properties of
a new or under researched species, beneficial medical products may be able to be
derived or produced as a result. A third important reason to identify bacterial
unknowns can tie into the safety and conservation of the environment. Because of
the varying properties and abilities of bacteria, it is beneficial to identify bacteria
that may be able to help clean up human impact. For example, Alcanivorax
borkumensis, is a bacterium that has been discovered to aid in the cleanup of spilled
petroleum. Other bacteria have been discovered to aid in eating pollution and other
toxins in water. The identification of important bacteria such as these can lead to
increased efforts in environmental conservation that use a more organic clean up
approach.

What factors make certain types of ammo more accurate and long range than other
types of ammo?
Abiud Garcia
IB Candidate: 000853 0012 Introduction My personal interest in this subject comes
from my career aspiration. As I intend to pursue a military career, the study of
firearms, missiles, and ballistics in general have always been of interest to me. I
wanted to find out the physical reasons different ammo types are more accurate at
longer ranges. Ballistics and ballistic sciences are the studies of fired projectiles,
most commonly bullets, and the behavior of these projectiles after being fired. These
behaviors include the flight, speed, accuracy, trajectory, and a range of other actions

For example, by designating rounds as to whether the belong to rifles or sniper
rifles, a comparison of their stats would provide insight as to what made the sniper
rifle rounds, the rounds that are definitively more accurate over a distance, more
accurate than their normal counterparts.
In addition, aside from these traits, ballistic coefficient is another important factor
that must be considered to determine why each round has a different range and
accuracy. Ballistic coefficient can be described as the measure of bullets
effectiveness at retaining its velocity while in the air. This measure is included
because it helps in analyzing how each round performs in relation to its weight, size,
and velocity. The ballistic coefficients of the above rounds are listed so that
comparisons can be carried out and any significant influences determined. The values
are derived using a ballistic chart that incorporates bullet weight and diameter into
calculations.
Table 2
It must be noted that ballistic coefficient values are not definitive and are subject to
change according to environmental factors. These values are taken under ideal
circumstances where the atmospheric conditions are calm and the bullet is in
flawless condition when fired from a standard rifle of its type.
Finally, it was necessary to list the effective range of each round. This way,
comparison between each round and analysis of each trait and differences between
Intake Manifold Of Throttle Body Injection
Intake manifold of throttle body injection/carburetion engines are designed to provide
optimum flow of air fuel mixture and to reduce the chances of the vaporized fuel re
condensation. Intake manifold runners on these engines have a few bends as
possible. And it is one of the primary components regarding the performance of an
internal combustion engine. An intake manifold is usually made up of a plenum,
throttle body connected to the plenum and runners depending on the number of
cylinders, which leads to the engine cylinder. In port/direct injection SI engines (also
CI engines), the manifold is designed for air flow only, so, these can have larger
runners and sharp bends as these do not have to keep fuel suspended in air.
Exhaust manifold is a part of diesel engines and is required to collect the exhaust
gases from the cylinder head and send it to the exhaust system. This is found in
between the engine and exhaust system. Exhaust manifold plays an important role in
the performance of automobile. Particularly, the efficiencies of emission and the fuel
consumption are nearly related to the exhaust manifold. The manifold may be a
casting or made of relatively light material depends on working environment. The
purpose of the exhaust manifold is to collect and carry these exhaust gases away from
the engine cylinders with a minimum of back pressure, without affecting engine
performance.
The exhaust manifold used in a 4 stroke IC engine is mounted on the cylinder head of

Bmw Case Study Analysis
Executive Summary
BMW has embarked on a mission to cut its notoriously long product development
time in half utilizing a newly developed system code named Digital Car . Senior
management has decided to utilize the new process on the 7 series platform. In order
to accomplish this goal, BMW is preparing to take advantage of the latest computer
technology in car development. At the forefront of the new plan is a debate over the
use of computer aided styling (CAS). We recommend that BMW implement the
Computer Aided Styling system and processes into their production development
program.
Key Areas of Concern

BMW s strategy for value creation lies in its meticulous engineering, including design
and styling. BMW designers pride themselves in delivering the unique styling that
BMW is known for. They strive for designs that generate emotions В– Works of art .
This is evident in the fact that many of the designers came from art or industrial
design schools. The current design process involves two full size clay models В–
which are extremely costly and time consuming. However, the use of clay models
provides a visual representation of the final product that many felt irreplaceable. By
being able to physically see and touch a model of the final product the model can be
handcrafted to make the slightest details apparent. Once the models are complete
they are captured digitally by a laser scanner and brought into a Computer Aided
Design (CAD) System.
The current process is working well to deliver the unique styling and quality that
defines BMW, however, it is very time consuming and a major roadblock to reducing
the product development time. Senior management utilized the functional managers
from the five key process areas that accounted for about 90% of the critical processes
involved in product development. These managers identified three main changes to
the current system that needed to take place in order to meet the development time
reduction goals: Increased parallelization of design tasks, elimination of some design
iterations, and quicker completion of the

Essay American Revolution

  • 1. Essay American Revolution Crafting an essay on the subject of the American Revolution can be a formidable task, laden with complexities and nuances that demand meticulous research and analysis. The magnitude of this historical event and its multifaceted implications necessitate a deep understanding of not only the chronology of events but also the socio-political, economic, and ideological underpinnings that precipitated such a monumental shift in global affairs. Navigating through a sea of divergent perspectives and scholarly interpretations poses a significant challenge, requiring a discerning eye to sift through disparate accounts and discern the most salient arguments. Moreover, capturing the essence of the revolution's impact on various segments of society, from the Founding Fathers to marginalized groups like enslaved Africans and Indigenous peoples, demands a comprehensive examination that incorporates a multitude of voices and experiences. Furthermore, synthesizing these diverse elements into a cohesive narrative requires adept critical thinking skills and the ability to contextualize historical events within broader thematic frameworks. Analyzing the revolution's ramifications on subsequent political developments, both domestically and internationally, adds another layer of complexity to the task at hand. Despite the formidable nature of this undertaking, delving into the intricacies of the American Revolution offers a rewarding intellectual journey, one that not only deepens our understanding of the past but also sheds light on contemporary socio-political dynamics. By grappling with the complexities inherent in this pivotal moment in history, we gain valuable insights into the enduring struggle for liberty, equality, and justice. In conclusion, while composing an essay on this topic may present formidable challenges, the opportunity to unravel the complexities of the American Revolution and its enduring legacy is both intellectually stimulating and profoundly enriching. • 2. The theme of carelessness in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott... I couldn t forgive him or like him, but I saw that what he had done was, to him, entirely justified. It was all very careless and confused. They were careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and creatures and the retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was the kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made (Fitzgerald 180 181). In the novel The Great Gatsbyby F. Scott Fitzgerald, the characters Daisy and Tom demonstrate the theme of carelessness. Tom and Daisy show carelessness through being foolish thus lacking a lack of good sense or judgment. Furthermore, they both show the theme of carelessness by being inconsiderate of others. The theme of negligence is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You forget there s a lady present, said Jordan. Daisy looked around doubtfully You kiss Nick too. What a low, vulgar girl! I don t care! cried Daisy, and began to clog on the brick fireplace. (Fitzgerald 116) It is evident that Daisy s words I don t care show that she is inconsiderate of other peoples feelings. She rudely shows her affection for Gatsby in public without considering the fact that Nick and Myrtle are present. In addition to being inconsiderate of Nick and Jordan, Daisy is inconsiderate to Tom as well. She looked at him [Tom] blindly. Why how could I love him possibly? (Fitzgerald 132) It is extremely inconsiderate to be telling Tom the man to whom she is married that she never loved him. Therefore, even though Tom showed carelessness through being inconsiderate of Daisy, Daisy was the more careless one because she was inconsiderate of more people as a result of her behaviour. These people include Nick, Jordan, and Tom. Finally, both Tom and Daisy show carelessness through being foolish. Tom Buchanan exhibits foolishness by physically harming Daisy. We all looked. The knuckle was black and blue. You did it, Tom, she said accusingly. I know you didn t mean to, but you did do it. That s what I get for marrying a brute of a man, a great, big, hulking physical specimen of a (Fitzgerald 12) This is significant because since Tom was foolish by acting on impulse, Daisy got injured. Even though Daisy described that Tom did not

Women s Rights And Equality Although women s rights and equality is progressing in the United States, there are progressing countries trying to achieve their overall gender index rank, which measures the human development of a country. From 2006 to 2014, Egypt s inequality gender gap index rank has increased significantly from 109 to 129 out of 173 countries of the world (Bekhouche, Hausmann, Tyson, Zahidi). During Ancient Egypt, women and men had the same rights to resources such as personal health, work, and education. But today, Egyptian women are suffering from sexual assault and sexual harassment everyday. Sexual assault is a form of a sexual act that the victim does not want and it is forced upon them. As defined by the World Health Organization, female genital mutilation is a process that alters and causes pain to the female genital organs, usually for non medical reasons. Although this practice is banned and illegal in most countries, this is still happening behind doors in Egypt for traditional reasons. The problem with modern Egypt is that women s rights have been deteriorated over the decade. Today, sexual harassment has become a social norm in Egypt. It does not matter if the victim is young, old, married, not married, or dressed appropriately because they will become a victim of sexual harassment. Since sexual harassment and assault is being silenced and overlooked around Egypt, it is slowly becoming socially acceptable to do this act. Because of FGM, women cannot control or have a say of what they can do with their own body. It also causes long term effects that will harm their health in the genital area. In order for women and girls to feel safe in Egypt, sexual assault needs to be recognized and laws against it should be appropriately enforced by free resources and help, and fix the streets of Egypt by adding a police force. Also, FGM should not be overlooked because even though there is a law against it in Egypt, it is still happening behind closed doors and creating an unhealthy procedures for girls and women. One of the best solutions to stop sexual harassment and assault is to have resources and help regarding those two

Nightingale Values 3 posts Re:Topic 3 DQ 2 The nursing profession has evolved significantly since its inception, and as nurses, we have a responsibility to continue to drive our profession in the right direction. Part of that responsibility revolves around an adherence to professional values that influence how nurses perform their job. In fact, the profession s values give direction and meaning to its members, guide nursing behaviors, are instrumental in clinical decision making, and influence how nurses think about themselves (Cresia Friberg, 2011, p. 49). The Nightingale Pledge was initially meant to convey the founding principles within the nursing profession, and gives value to the profession. Thankfully, the nursing profession is one of the most unique disciplines within healthcare, and the value that nurses place on patient advocacy illustrates how dynamic the relationship between a patient and their nurse can be. Views on Colonialism in Donne s Elegy XIX and Wroth s Sonnet 22 Introduction In the midst of Lady Mary Wroth s sonnet cycle, a sudden reference to the colonialist discoveries of dark skinned natives appears. Bringing to mind her participation in Jonson s Masque of Blackness, she depicts dark skinned Indians worshipping the sun as their god. In the midst of her ruminations on love and her preoccupations with her unfaithful lover, Amphilanthus, this sonnet touches on issues close to her personal life as well as some of the preoccupations of her era on the nature of colonialism. In particular the role of religion in England s colonialist efforts was of prime importance. An examination of John Donne s Elegy XIX, To His Mistris... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Over 300 settlers were killed, however the main settlement was spared due to the last minute warning delivered by the Indians who had been converted by the missionary efforts of the colonists (www.apva.org). In May of this same year, Donne was made an honorary member of the Virginia Company. However, he was not by either gift or subscription, an adventurer or shareholder (Johnson 130 131). Of critical importance to understanding the depth of Donne s preoccupation with this issue of colonialism is the sermon he delivered on November 13, 1622 before the Virginia Company. It was immediately published as A Sermon vpon the VIII. Verse of the I. Chapter of the Acts of the Apostles (Johnson 135). The sermon itself is often considered the first missionary sermon ever preached in England (Johnson 128). Donne admonishes the investors of the Virginia Company for not placing their duties as missionaries above, or even equal to, their economic interests. O, if you would be as ready to hearken at the return of a ship, how many Indians were converted to Christ Jesus, as what trees, or drugs, or dyes that ship had brought, then you were in your right way, and not till then (Donne 229). Johnson makes the argument in his article, Donne and the Virginia Company, that Donne s sermon was delivered at a critical time in the history of the Virginia Company.

A Complicated Kindness Essay Sexual Experimentation, Drug and Alcohol Abuse In The Virgin Suicides and A Complicated Kindness, the restrictions that religion puts in place cause the youth to rebel against that religious system. In A Complicated Kindness, it is made clear from the beginning of the text that there is a ban on the media, dancing, smoking, temperate climates, movies, drinking, rock n roll, having sex for fun, swimming, make up, jewellery, playing pool, going to cities, or staying up past nine o clock (Toews 5). These strict rules against what are considered standard activities lead Nomi to rebel. For example, Nomi takes up smoking, drinking and has premarital sex with her boyfriend Travis. Additionally, Nomi wears a bonnet for the Mennonite church service,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the beginning of the text, it is clear that Lux is sexually charged. The first time sexuality is attributed to her is when Peter Sissen has dinner at the Lisbon house. When Peter uses the bathroom, he finds a used tampon, which belongs to Lux as she knocks on the door to get something private (Eugenides 8). In a sense, Lux s rebellious behaviour and sexual awakenings have contributed to her destruction of the self. As it has been established, her sexual actions with Trip after the prom result in her entrapment in the house, including the remaining girls, though they arrived home on time. As well as not being allowed to leave the house, the girls are pulled out of school. Additionally, Mrs. Lisbon makes Lux throw all her rock records into the fire (138 39), which further establishes her control. One could argue that the records for Mrs. Lisbon promote rebellious behaviour, connecting her daughter s to Satan. Additionally, it could be argued that this event drives Lux to further rebel as the records were the one thing that would keep her sanity as well as being a part of her identity. Her loss and destruction of her identity is confirmed as she further goes against her mother s strict rules. She does so by performing sexual favours for men on the roof of their house. This allows Lux to escape her entrapment for a

This has had a significant impact on the use of English as a medium of instruction worldwide. The following essay presents an overview of how English is used in higher educationinstitutions in both Malaysia and China. It aims to assess why English holds such importance within their educationsystems which this will be done through the studying of implemented government policies and student/academic staff experiences. Malaysia s multicultural society makes it a natural environment for producing students who are proficient in more than one language (Julie Dearden, 2014). Malaysia was one of the earliest Asian countries to provide higher education opportunities as far back as the 1980 s, when politicians started making improvements to the standard of English after realising its importance. Higher education in Malaysia is constructed of private and public institutions with some offering franchised programmes under foreign branches. This development has led to a significant increase in the number of colleges and universities within Malaysia, helping the nation advance and establish itself as an education hub , to which the Malaysian government has given considerable attention in developing further. Private higher education has become a significant money making venture which attracts tremendous interest from British, Australian and American universities who want to export their education thus providing more international students and perhaps regional students, since fees will be lower than the likes of the United Kingdom where most international students currently study . • 8. Analysis Of Bless Me Ultima It can be argued, as human beings, we are students of life, and death is one of the hard lessons that we will encounter. Our faith is not a fixed concept, it is affected by a convergence of factors and events in our life. A person s faith is a complex and differs from one person to another, but one thing is for certain, it affects how we look at life and how we approach life. Rudolfo Anayas Bless Me Ultima divulges into the life an inquisitive six year old Antonio as he transitions from a young boy to a man and becomes cognizant of life s tragedies. His inquisitive nature that persists to understand himself and his world bears an internal struggle that leaves a rift of ambivalence that mentally tears him between opposing ideals.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He still goes back to the idea of his preordained future in priesthood. Anaya also uses symbolism to show the stark contrast between the stain of blood and the sweet waters of my river. The idea that Lupito s blood was spilled as a result of his impure and sinful actions is now tainting and defiling the purity and sanctity of water could be paralleled to Antonio s innocence defiled and diluted by the horrors he had just witnessed. Arguably, Lupito s death is an unjustified persecution of an ill man. His actions actions that he was not completely conscious of stemmed from the horrors of war which brings about the question of justice. Why would God let this man a man not fully conscious of his actions be held responsible, punished, and persecuted? The second death that Antonio witnessed furthered his negotiation with faith and caused him to question God s fairness. Narciso s death permeated Antonio s vision of a just God. Antonio questions how a compassionate God could co exist with the presence of evil. During his life, Narciso was vilified and alienated. Tenorio s killing of Narciso is an example of an archetypal Good versus Evil situation. Tenorio, the nefarious manifestation of all that is evil, condemned Narciso, a misunderstood but ultimately, a good man, to his death. He looks to God for Narciso s salvation. I knew what I had to pray. I had to pray an Act of Contrition for his departing soul... I

Some years, the windows on the bus have been blocked with black construction paper so the eager kids dressed in their old sweat pants and shirts will not be able to memorize the path taken by the driver. After journeying on endless dirt roads, the schoolbuses emerge to see a farmhouse with nothing except for a vast wilderness behind it and of course, the students are not there for the farmhouse. One group on the annual bog walk last May were my closest friends and I. Walkingthrough the woods was nothing new to us, but treading through a viscous bog filled with logs and animals that could be lurking right in front of our next step, was a completely different story. One moment, I was stepping on the comfort of dry land, and the next, I was wading waist deep in the unknown cold, black water. Towards the end of the trip, my class and I approached a field surrounding a puddle of murky water. Jump in, my teacher told us. Immediately, a group of students took the plunge and were submerged into the swamp. I kept asking myself, how deep is it? Would I touch the bottom? . I had to push all of those thoughts out of my head. I took the hands of my friends, and together, we leaped into uncharted territory.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 10. The Lewinsky Scandal, 1998 Literature Review: The Lewinsky Scandal, 1998 For the past few centuries, political scandals have become a permanent fixture in US politics. Most recently, when we think of scandals in American politics the 1998 Clinton Lewinsky Affair comes to mind. Though unlike its predecessors this scandal was not one of constitutional crises such as Nixon s Watergate in the 1970s, but it instead concerned the extramarital affairs of the then incumbent president, William J. Clinton. Bill Clinton, as he is more commonly known by, was elected as the 42nd US President in 1993 and served the maximum two terms in office, ending in 2001. Under Clinton the American economy benefited greatly and financial stability became more of a reality for many. However Clinton s presidential legacy is also marked by his affair with Monica Lewinsky and his impeachment. He had become the second sitting president in history to be impeached by the House of Representatives. The Lewinsky affair shocked the public and the media along with the right wing were keen to see Clintons demise. Washington became even more vicious as political opponents of the President pursed him to no extent. Though officially he could not be charged for having an affair, he could be held accountable for lying under oath and misleading the jury during a trial. Clinton s adulterous affair split opinions and became a talking point for all. Many accounts were written about the Lewinsky affair, all with differing viewpoints on the

Sharing one s thoughts on paper has always been part of the role of being a writer; it serves a purpose of writing a reflection of one s personal thoughts and opinions. From the Medieval era to the Renaissance era, Poland is remarked as a period of change. Poland was expanding as a country and many political events were occurring. During this span of time, Polish literature signifies various changes in its themes, beliefs and language all constituted with a purpose. The theme of life and death overpowers Polish literature written during these two eras. The piece that demonstrates a wide scope of his worldview is Laments. Jan Kochanowski expresses his despair and emotions after the loss of his child in the form of treny. Treny are an older style of writing that praise the life and accomplishments of those who passed, especially well known figures. Kochanowski s Laments can be distinguished from the typical treny for the sole reason that the subject is a child instead of a famous or intellectual individual. However, the main character in Laments is Kochanowski himself. He plays the role of a grieving father and author who struggles to find the value and trust in any philosophy, religion and life itself after his daughter s death disrupted his reality. In the article Why We Write About Grief, Oates explains that Grief is the most humane of emotions but it is a one sided emotion; it is not reciprocated. This is exactly what makes Laments credible for the Kochanowski s worldview through death. He experienced it himself as a parent; one cannot simply understand how it feels to lose a child. It is not a typical telling of a story about death; it is the dark emotions of a mourning father. Throughout the Laments, Kochanowski intertwines the theme of searching ways to relieve pain and his bitter reflection on death. Specifically, he expresses a rebellion against death. From

I m sure many of you have had a moment in your life where anxiety has withered its way into your world affecting the way you do things. Many cases of anxietybegin in school, which in incredibly inconvenient as the students affected by it will be wanting to succeed. Anxiety itself is a natural human response that serves a purpose. Therefore, I believe when it gets out of control we should not think of getting rid of it all together but more to keep it healthy. As to the causes, though there are many, my top 4 would have to be bullying, school pressure, the future and fearof failing. What these can do is create unhealthy thinking patterns which becomes a serious problem among young people when it starts disrupting their regular routine. I personally think these thinking patterns can very easily turn into diagnosed disorders such as PTSD, GAD. Bullying is a very common cause of anxiety among young people today. People who are affected by some form of bullying often results them having recurring thinking patterns e.g. experiencing flashbacks, having nightmares, panic attacks, and a lot of them live in the fear that they will experience it again which in some ways never switches these patterns off. I believe that because anxiety has this effect where it fully takes control of people s lives, it should be recognized. I m sure

The prison was also in San Francisco Bay so they also needed to make a raft. Also, there was the likelihood of them getting caught digging out or the guards finding their secret workshop on top of their cells. Anyone could have seen them too because they had to scale two barbed wire fences. There is also the fact that if they didn t leave in between eleven p.m to twelve o clock midnight that they would almost certainly die of hypothermia or by drowning. The escape also took months to take place with the fact that they had to dig through the wall with knives and spoons. It also would seem hard to get everything they needed to do and get out because the cells were nine foot by five foot which was the size of an average pool table. There were also tremendous factors facing them for other things. There are a lot of outside factors that could have occurred with one fact being they could have had someone else pick them up or they could have had

INTRODUCTION The primary goal of the current research study was to investigate the relationship between students participation in an online discussion forum and students overall academic performance in a hybrid format graduate level science course. More specifically, our primary research question was: Does students participation in an online discussion forum integrated into an open source course management system improve students academic performance in a hybrid format graduate level science course? In addition, our secondary research question was: How consistently can the results of the current investigation be extrapolated to academic courses in other disciplines (i.e. arts, humanities, law) and to academic courses at other academic levels (i.e. undergraduate, high school, middle school)? To the best of our knowledge, the aforementioned are academically significant and, thus far unanswered, research questions because previous research studies have yielded equivocal and, often contradictory, results regarding this subject. To be specific, in their 2005 research article published in the British Journal of Educational Technology, Davies and Graff investigated the relationship between frequency of participation in an online discussion forum and academic performance, quantified via final grades, of a sample of 122 undergraduate students at the University of Glamorgan, United Kingdom. In conclusion, these researchers reported that underachieving students, the students

The Signs Of The Gospel Of John Essay Introduction Amidst the disciples that had already seen the resurrected Christ, Thomas declares that he will not believe unless he personally sees and feels Jesus for himself. To which, on His appearance, Jesus said to him, Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed. Although the gospel of John is clear that Jesus preformed many signs that are not recorded, he states that the ones he records are for the purpose that those who have not seen may believe and have life in His name. Therefore, the eight signs John chooses are very important. These signs take Jesus out of the realm of the pious rabbi and challenge the reader to see the hand of God, indeed, God Himself, actively working in Jesus. It is the presence of God in the signs that Jesus preforms that show His deity. Water is now wine (John 2:1 12) John begins with, quite possibly, the most important sign. Just as John begins his gospel placing Jesus squarely at the creation, so here He begins the signs with an act of creation; turning water into wine at the marriage in Cana. Jesus mother was in attendance. Her motive in informing Jesus that there was a lack of wine is unknown, as well as what she expected temporally or miraculously. We can know from Jesus response that it may have been a miracle that she intended. He uses the phrase My hour, referring either to the appointed time, so that people might believe, or to the ultimate new beginning, the cross.

  • 26. Personality Reflection Paper Personality is a fascinating construct, and the number of different ways to measure and define personality are many. One of the models that I believe helps to provide a framework for me to define and describe my past experiences within the context of personality theory is based on the traits of Openness, Conscientiousness, Extroversion/Introversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. As I reflect on my personality in early life and as I think about my personality today, it seems that much of my personality has stayed the same. While some may argue that this would mean that there are strong and extremely salient genetic contributions to my personality, I think that my environment also helped to shape me into the person I am today. Extroversion has always been one of my biggest personality facets. I was the gregarious child who sat on the preschool teacher s leg during story time, the class clown in elementary school, and the one who made friends with all of the different cliques that were ubiquitous in my high school. Some would say that this is genetically influenced to a large degree because both of my parents are also extremely extroverted and they enjoy social gatherings and large groups of people. However, in looking at my history, I see that the environment was ripe for social connectedness and being social was familiar and expected. If I was naturally extroverted (genetics), and grew up in a house of introverts who watched television and read books in the evenings instead of having dinner parties, I think that my extraversion would not be my strongest trait. Another strong personality trait of mine is my openness. As a child, I wanted to be everywhere and see everything. As a rambunctious child, I learned and explored, and as an adult, I do this, but in different ways. Overall, I do not think my personality has changed to a large degree since childhood, but my environment has definitely helped to keep some of my strong traits in check. As reported, both nature and nurture shaped my early life and developmental years of my personality. While I view nature as being those traits and characteristics passed down from my parents through their genes, I think of nurture as the environment in which I was raised,

Five Forces Analysis Of Nestle Industry Environment Five Forces I.Threat of New Entrants Moderately High The food processing industry is very large and competitive; it is not uncommon for firms within the industry to do quite well. As a result, many companies enter into the market every year in an attempt to gain a portion of the profitable market. Luckily for NestlГ©, the company has been around for decades and boasts a long history of quality products and consumer satisfaction, which has allowed the company to obtain a considerable share of the market. It is demonstrated in accelerated investment activity in the 2000 s which indicates long term commitment in markets where Nestle operates, and construction of 16 factories from 1993 2006 in China to meet consumer demand. As a result, new entrants into the industry must attempt to seize a portion of NestlГ© s market share in order to survive. However, over the years, new entrants with healthier alternatives have threatened the status quo in markets like Asia, Africa and the United States. Economies of Scale Nestle enjoys massive economies of scale because of its size. Nestle has increased production while maintaining low cost through fewer factories. This strategy has positively contributed to Nestle working capital. This advantage of economies of scale is made possible because of Nestle s unmatched number of factories around the world. The Swiss giants owns 418 factories in 81 countries. This is how Nestle has effectively managed to localize

  • 30. The Mystery Of Detective Fiction Detective Fiction exists as one of the most popular fiction genres of all time. Detective fiction uses facts and other details to solve a mystery which surrounds a perplexing murder in a novel. Many people gain excitement over a challenge or a test of knowledge when solving a puzzle. A puzzle may baffle or confuse the puzzler; therefore, the puzzler likes to solve the puzzle before the ending. People enjoy the experience of sheer satisfaction of solving a mystery before ending the literary work. Curiosity describes itself as the desire to learn or know about anything; inquisitiveness (Dictionary). Curiosity somehow leads people on the path to try to solve a mystery or a puzzle. It remains a question of why people desire to solve a puzzle. Maybe their inquisitive mind drives them to solve the puzzle or a mystery. Often after the reader finishes reading a detective novel and solving the mystery before the reveal of the murderer, they find this satisfying to their curiosity. Thus they begin to continue reading more mystery fictional novels. The birth of detective fictionsurfaced around the 19th century (Gaines). The Moonstone novel considered the first detective novel written (Sahni). The novel created by Wilkie Collins established the ground rules for detective novels. Before the detective fiction surfaced, many novels conveyed the murderer as the innocent one, instead of the victim as the innocent one. These works of fiction, unfortunately did not

The argument of Lifeboat Ethicsis that all of humanity is in a shipwreck, there are a few select rich countries with lifeboats. All the other countries are floating in the water waiting for their inevitable doom and hoping, praying for a spot on a lifeboat. He then complicates things further, each lifeboat has a carrying capacity of 100 people, each lifeboat is currently carrying 90 people. Throughout my creative nonfiction essay, I use rhetorical questions to have the reader truly ask themselves the questions that connect to my overall theme. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the beginning of my essay, I introduce the weather by using personification. I wrote that The thick fog and slight drizzle depressed the morning sky, paired with The winds that whistled past our red faces (Ostler 1). The personification of the natural elements connects the true animosity we faced during the beginning of the ride; the examples give the reader a sense of empathy from the conflicts they face in their lives. This connection takes the theme to a personal level. Furthermore, I develop the theme using personification later in the story during the sunshine (or success) phase. I described that The sun opened the skies and left little reminiscence of the storm that lurked in its wakes, followed by The day that was growing warmer (Ostler 2). Though these parts of nature aren t literally opening or growing, the picture that it paints in the mind of the reader develops the true setting. Nature And Nurture In Lord Of The Flies A feral child (also, colloquially, wild child) is a human child who has lived isolated from human contact from a very young age, and has no (or little) experience of human care. It is said that feral children are the real life experiment that we cannot ethically carry out. They question what the defining factors in human nature are and furthermore how much society impacts on our personalities. The texts I have chosen are Romulus and Remus (Roman myth), The Girl with no Name by Lynne Barret Lee, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling and Lord of the flies by William Golding. All four texts propose that the experiences we have as a child are the most significant ones in making us who we are. Most texts discuss the idea of Nature Versus Nurture Nature and nurture relates to the inherent qualities (nature) as opposed to personal experiences (nurture). In the 1954 classic Lord of the Flies, Golding slowly shapes the boys and leads the reader from a group of civilized young boys into true savages. Golding uses a metaphor to compare [Jack s] laughter to the bloodthirsty snarling of an animal. It is essential that the clinician should not rely solely on diagnostic reports and should perform significant detailed assessments that include ligamentous stability tests with individuals that had cervical spine trauma (Mckinnis, 2014 p. 159). It should be noted that in any motor vehicular accident it is important to identify injurypatterns and trauma protocols should be applied. Injuries brought about by motor vehicle accidents are not always apparent. For instance, during evaluation there is no evidence of any soft tissue damage or any manifestation of fractures, but one can still end up with long term disability due to back or neck pain. With that, an exhaustive physical examination coupled with an appropriate diagnostic procedure will give more information about the patient s condition and guide treatment decisions. Schifferstadt is located directly off of route 15 North on Rosemont avenue, it is a colonial German stone house that was built in 1758 by the Brunner family. The historical site is currently owned by the Frederick County Landmarks Foundation, and has been since 1974. The site is different than some typical lager museums, there are no self led tours, only docents tour individuals and groups throughout the house. The staff was extremely helpful, insightful, and friendly and the tour was well put together and tremendously informational. There are a few flaws that I detected throughout the visit, however, it... Docents with the ability to absorbed knowledge from guests and from the actual historical site are the most helpful for tours. I felt as if the docents were very well trained and extremely kind. Even though the actual Brunner house is not very large and does not house many artifacts there is so much information to learn. Some of the programs and special events that Shifferstadt offers are 3rd and 4th grader lesson plans, gests speakers, Oktoberfest, museums by candlelight, and many more. All of these events help raise awareness of Shifferstadt, and also the preservation of historical sites in Frederick. Small house museums normally do not have much advertisement in the local area, and even state wide, this can conclude the small amount of visitors at

A Study on Liposuction Surgery Liposuction Surgery Body image has become a major concern for many Americans, and now that there are procedures that can one s body more people are opting for surgeries to build themselves up. One very popular form of reshaping is liposuction. This procedure, using one of several different surgical methods, can remove fat from the body and create a more fit appearance. However, as is the case with all operations, there are dangers associated with the procedure. This paper details the procedure, the different types that are available, and the inherent problems that people have encountered as a result of liposuction. The basics of this type of procedure are well known to the general public. First the patient will choose the area of the body from which they want the fat cells removed, and, on the day of the surgery, the surgeon will mark the area. Depending on the type of liposuction the patient will receive either a general anesthetic or a local. Most procedures require a general anesthetic since the procedure can be very painful and cover a wide area. The surgeon may also inject certain fluids to assist in the procedure depending on the type of liposuction that is to be performed. After this, the doctor will make several small incisions at the point of fat cell removal in which cannula will be placed. The cannula is a long hollow tube used to remove the fat cells (DocShop). During the basic type of this surgery, the doctor will move the cannula back and forth in the

  • 42. Character Analysis Of Nora Helmer In A Doll s House The main character I will be focusing on in A Doll s House, is Nora Helmer. When I think of Nora Helmer s character in The Doll House, I often refer to a quote that says Woman was taken out of man; not out of his head to top him, nor out of his feet to be trampled underfoot; but out of his side to be equal to him, under his arm to be protected, and near his heart to be loved. (Matthew Henry) It is a normal thing for a woman especially Nora to be taken care of and sincerely given love and affection in a marriage. As most readers go in depth in the play, it seems like Nora has the perfect life and couldn t ask for anything more than to be able to keep her family secured despite the serious debt they are facing and to have the love of her kids and her significant other Torvald. But, that all changes in the end when she realizes that her world had been a doll s house all along and that she hasn t discovered her true purpose of life. She never had the opportunity as a woman in her time to see the value of life and never had the ability for making decisions for herself. She grew up being her father s doll child and continued to still be a doll for the husband she had found. Her role as a woman, wife, and mother shelter her from the boundless outside world. Because of her restricted environment, later her relationship with her husband changes, would also negativity affect her relationship with her children because she left her kids with her husband Torvald. She never had the opportunity as a woman in her time to see the value of life and never had the ability for making decisions for herself. Throughout the course of history, women s roles in society have been ever changing. At one time, women were expected to fulfill certain roles and not others. There has been a constant struggle expanding roles of success for women and has been a controversial issue for as long as there has been reported history. The problem is that the unspoken assumption is that women are different (Chisholm). Women s roles in society were not even close to what they are today. In the past, women were viewed as property. This is the new world we are subconsciously creating, a world where social media encourages people to communicate and share their lives. The age demographic that is particularly predisposed to social media are adolescents, with teenagers spending every waking minute online . Despite the fact that the basis of social media is communication, it can have a negative impact on an adolescent s ability to communicate with people in reality. Young individuals are expected by society to own the flashiest clothing, mobile phones, cosmetics and many more materialistic belongings. Social media certainly creates a false snapshot of people s lives aiming to perceive lives of luxury and perfection which ultimately only further encourages creating false online interpretations of their lives. The future is in our hands according to Catherine Steiner Adair, a clinical psychologist and author of The Big Disconnect. Body language, facial expression, and even the slightest of vocal reactions are invisible which is a consequence to the way young adolescents are influenced by technology. Social media hinders teenagers from building themselves up as individuals because they focus all their time and energy, creating a false representation of themselves and, through this process end up losing their true identity. Direct communication is lost as social skills are developed online .

Then, I ll explain whether it is better to live in Plato s republic or in a timarchy, oligarchy, democracy, or a tyranny. Plato s books create an ideal city where there are the producers (farmers, craftsmen, etc.), the auxiliaries, also known as the warriors, and the guardians, they are the rulers of this city. Each of these groups must perform its job, and only that one job, and each must have the right amount of amount of power in relation to the other groups. This then brings us to the myth of metals, the guardians are gold, the auxiliaries are silver, and the producers are iron and bronze (415a). The reason why the guardians are gold is because they are the most precious and revered, and the quality of the metal or soul goes down the farther you go down the class system. But before I get ahead of myself how are guardians supposed to be rulers? Are they born knowing how to rule? No, they are tested at a young age, and are brought to terrors and then cast into pleasures testing them to see if they are perfect if they do not pass this test they are to serve under the one who passes the trials (413d). Now Socrates was a daring and creative man, and laid out three ideas known as the three waves of ridiculousness. • 46. Scout As A Role Model In To Kill A Mockingbird Scout changes many times, but her presentation of herself remains the same. At the beginning of the novel, Scout sees herself as gamine as she plays with her brother and never had a female figure to be a role model. By the end of the novel, she receives a taste of the outside world and what goes on beyond her house. With Tom Robinson and the court case, all the way to Boo Radley the monster, Scout sees and lives everything. In the novelTo Kill A Mockingbird, Scout displays herself as obstinate, inquisitive, and gamine. One way scout displays herself is obstinate. For example, at the beginning of the book, Scout s teachers tell her she is not allowed to read at home anymore with her dad. Scout is very upset when she is told that. That day when she runs home, she tries to convince her father, Atticus, to let her not go to school because she wants to continue reading with him every night. Another example where Scout is obstinate in the novel is when Jem, Scout s brother, Dill, Scout s friend, and Scout go down to the courthouse to spy on Atticus and find him confronting a mob of men. When Scout runs to see Atticus, Jem and Dill are forced to follow. Scout then sees a man she knows, Mr. Cunningham, she tries many times to get his attention but he does not respond. Hey, Mr. Cunningham... Hey, Mr. Cunningham. How s your entailment gettin along?... Don t you remember me, Mr. Cunningham? I m Jean Louise Finch.... I go to school with Walter Scout never gives up on trying to get Mr. Cunningham to respond until finally he does, saying, I ll tell him you say hey, little lady, (154) Scout s portraying being obstinate on not letting it go when she tries to get his attention. Even when Mr. Cunningham continues to ignore her, she is very stubborn about getting his attention to say hi. As Scout begins to see what is outside of her home, she becomes an inquisitive person. For example, Scout sits with Atticus every night and reads the daily newspaper, unlike most other kids her age. Scout loves reading, that is why she never wanted to stop even when her teacher told her she had to. She learns new things every night, even if she might not understand them at the moment, she will learn more in the future. She was very

The middle line represents middle management. These workers are responsible for supervising staff while taking instruction from the strategic apex. The technostructure is responsible for training, work procedures,

She speaks of her eagerness to learn, but due to the lack of education in her community, Elvia had to learn things the hard way. The first time that Elvia got pregnant was at the age of 15 she did not know how to prevent pregnancy. Once her older brother found out, he was Infuriated and threatened to take her life away. Thus, she ran away to the capital (Tegucigalpa). Since it was her first time leaving the village, she spent the whole afternoon and the next day sitting in the pew, afraid. She eventually managed to get a temporary job as a domestic assistant. Elvia has six children in total, three of them with the same father, the other part of two men. All the of their fathers fled, forcing Elvia to provide for all of her children on her own. Her narrative then continues with the delimitation of spaces: men exist. Usually out of the house, meanwhile, women work at home. However, she notes that for the peasants, the situation is even worse because some men do not help the family economically or collaborate with them. That is, they control the family economy without publicly acknowledging it, but as victims of machismo. In this sense, men and women are responsible for social change. The respective context of life experiences reflects that even when there is a specificity with respect to each geographical area, the consequences of neoliberal policies

The citrate test is done to test the ability of organisms to use citrate as a carbon source. One of these reasons is in regards to pathogens. If a bacterium is pathogenic, it is important to know the identity of the bacteria so that its characteristics can be examined and used in the treatment of the infected host. For example, if the identification of an unknown pathogen leads to the knowledge that the pathogen contains a beta lactam ring in its cell wall, a drug targeting this cellular component can be used in the treatment of this pathogen. If this information was unknown and the pathogen did not contain a beta lactam, the drug would not help the infected host. Another reason it is beneficial to identify unknown bacteria is for clinical uses. Many pharmaceutical drugs are based upon or isolated from products made by bacteria. Penicillin is an obvious example of a beneficial drug that was isolated from a mold. By identifying new bacteria and discovering the unique properties of a new or under researched species, beneficial medical products may be able to be derived or produced as a result. A third important reason to identify bacterial unknowns can tie into the safety and conservation of the environment. Because of the varying properties and abilities of bacteria, it is beneficial to identify bacteria that may be able to help clean up human impact. For example, Alcanivorax borkumensis, is a bacterium that has been discovered to aid in the cleanup of spilled petroleum. Other bacteria have been discovered to aid in eating pollution and other toxins in water. The identification of important bacteria such as these can lead to increased efforts in environmental conservation that use a more organic clean up approach.

As I intend to pursue a military career, the study of firearms, missiles, and ballistics in general have always been of interest to me. I wanted to find out the physical reasons different ammo types are more accurate at longer ranges. Ballistics and ballistic sciences are the studies of fired projectiles, most commonly bullets, and the behavior of these projectiles after being fired. These behaviors include the flight, speed, accuracy, trajectory, and a range of other actions the projectile may take in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, by designating rounds as to whether the belong to rifles or sniper rifles, a comparison of their stats would provide insight as to what made the sniper rifle rounds, the rounds that are definitively more accurate over a distance, more accurate than their normal counterparts. In addition, aside from these traits, ballistic coefficient is another important factor that must be considered to determine why each round has a different range and accuracy. Ballistic coefficient can be described as the measure of bullets effectiveness at retaining its velocity while in the air. This measure is included because it helps in analyzing how each round performs in relation to its weight, size, and velocity. The ballistic coefficients of the above rounds are listed so that comparisons can be carried out and any significant influences determined. The values are derived using a ballistic chart that incorporates bullet weight and diameter into calculations. Table 2 It must be noted that ballistic coefficient values are not definitive and are subject to change according to environmental factors. These values are taken under ideal circumstances where the atmospheric conditions are calm and the bullet is in flawless condition when fired from a standard rifle of its type. Finally, it was necessary to list the effective range of each round. This way, comparison between each round and analysis of each trait and differences between

Intake Manifold Of Throttle Body Injection Intake manifold of throttle body injection/carburetion engines are designed to provide optimum flow of air fuel mixture and to reduce the chances of the vaporized fuel re condensation. Intake manifold runners on these engines have a few bends as possible. And it is one of the primary components regarding the performance of an internal combustion engine. An intake manifold is usually made up of a plenum, throttle body connected to the plenum and runners depending on the number of cylinders, which leads to the engine cylinder. In port/direct injection SI engines (also CI engines), the manifold is designed for air flow only, so, these can have larger runners and sharp bends as these do not have to keep fuel suspended in air. Exhaust manifold is a part of diesel engines and is required to collect the exhaust gases from the cylinder head and send it to the exhaust system. This is found in between the engine and exhaust system. Exhaust manifold plays an important role in the performance of automobile. Particularly, the efficiencies of emission and the fuel consumption are nearly related to the exhaust manifold. The manifold may be a casting or made of relatively light material depends on working environment. The purpose of the exhaust manifold is to collect and carry these exhaust gases away from the engine cylinders with a minimum of back pressure, without affecting engine performance. The exhaust manifold used in a 4 stroke IC engine is mounted on the cylinder head of an

BMW s strategy for value creation lies in its meticulous engineering, including design and styling. BMW designers pride themselves in delivering the unique styling that BMW is known for. They strive for designs that generate emotions В– Works of art . This is evident in the fact that many of the designers came from art or industrial design schools. The current design process involves two full size clay models В– which are extremely costly and time consuming. However, the use of clay models provides a visual representation of the final product that many felt irreplaceable. By being able to physically see and touch a model of the final product the model can be handcrafted to make the slightest details apparent. Once the models are complete they are captured digitally by a laser scanner and brought into a Computer Aided Design (CAD) System. The current process is working well to deliver the unique styling and quality that defines BMW, however, it is very time consuming and a major roadblock to reducing the product development time. Senior management utilized the functional managers from the five key process areas that accounted for about 90% of the critical processes involved in product development. These managers identified three main changes to the current system that needed to take place in order to meet the development time reduction goals: Increased parallelization of design tasks, elimination of some design iterations, and quicker completion of the
