4. • Background
 Eco-club Gollis university was established in
2015. initially, the dean of faculty of
Agriculture and NRM brought an idea of
opening of new clubs for Students of the
faculty.
 A need for this club came out due to high
degradation of environment in Somaliland for
the last two decades. Also, local people cannot
afford to stop degradation of forest.
 In this regard, Our collaboration with (
MOERD, MOA,
ADO,NERAD,PENHA,DEEGAAN

5. NETWORK,ARDA,FOA and local
INGO,SAS, SOLPAF, CANDLELIGHT)
brought to make Environmental awareness.
 Gollis University particularly faculty of
Agriculture and Natural Resource Management
dedicated to produce qualified local experts on
Natural Resource and Environmental protection
with conservation in both farm land and pastoral
lands.

7. • VISION
• This Club will be a center of excellence for
Environmental protection and practical oriented
research to ensure the contribution of Natural
Resource Conservation including Soil, Water,
Pasture and Forestry.
• To train and provide skills the local people such
as farmers, nomadic people and Agro-pastoral
people through making Environmental
committee who will handle the environmental
degradation issues with Climate change
Adoption in Somaliland.

8. MISSION
• To promote the awareness raising about environment
degradation including Charcoal production, Mining, Over
grazing and Erosion in many regions of Somaliland.
• Eco-Club will establish a nursery of seedlings and the Eco-Club
will provide the seedlings of transplantable trees for
afforestation program to reduce the risk of endangering
biodiversity of the ecology and to replace the worn out trees
with a new trees.

• To empower students in achieving effective
knowledge about Agriculture and Environment.
• To promote job Creation opportunities and
Skills for Somaliland youth by providing
trainings and seminars.

• To train and produce qualified
students who are more creative and
innovative oriented personnel in
Agricultural and Environmental areas.
• To provide technical consultancy and
advisory services on Agriculture,
Natural Resource Management and
conservations including land, water
and Forestry to all Agriculture and
Environmental development
institutions.

• This Eco-Club will provide the students an
exposure and interest for the subject of the
Environmental issues which is very hot issues in
Somaliland and they will participate the debates
and discussions about Somaliland Environmental
challenges and the climate change to find out the
possible solutions.

• World environment day with taking great role in which we received the invitation
from ministry of environment and rural development
• Also we participate a lot of seminars such as
• Assessing, mapping and monitoring on land cover and land use
• Losses of green storage
• Dry land farming also west management
• Our main project is to make modern fodder production
• ( Hydroponic).
• also we took great role in forestry operations with the Ministry of Environment in
Sahil region we have taken 155 plants,Also in this mounth we do afforestration
campaign in Gabiley region including different types of trees.
