4. การใช้ภาษาต่างประเทศในการประกอบวิชาชีพแพทย์ (Foreign Language Use in Medical Practice)
ในการประกอบวิชาชีพแพทย์นั้น แพทย์ผู้รักษาจะต้องมีการสื่อสารกับผู้ปุวยหรือญาติของผู้ปุวย ที่มารับ
บริการการรักษา สื่อสารระหว่างเพื่อนร่วมวิชาชีพแพทย์ รวมทั้งสื่อสารกับบุคลากรทางด้านการแพทย์อื่นที่มีส่วน
ร่วมในการรักษาผู้ปุวย ทั้งนี้ หากมีบุคคลหนึ่งบุคคลใดดังกล่าวเป็นชาวต่างประเทศ และไม่มีความรู้หรือทักษะใน
การสื่อสารด้วยภาษาไทย จาเป็นต้องใช้ภาษาต่างประเทศในการสื่อสารระหว่างกัน เช่น ใช้ภาษาอังกฤษ ภาษา
ฝรั่งเศส ภาษาเยอรมัน หรือภาษาอื่นใดก็ตาม ที่แต่ละบุคคลที่จะสื่อสารได้อย่างเข้าใจ ถูกต้อง และมีประสิทธิภาพ
ไม่ว่าจะใช้ภาษาต่างประเทศใดก็ตามในการสื่อสาร สิ่งสาคัญที่จะต้องทราบ และเรียนรู้ในบริบทของการ

อธิบายได้อย่างถูกต้อง
3. พื้นฐานความคิด หรือความเชื่อของผู้ปุวยเกี่ยวกับโรค และการรักษาโรคนั้น ๆ เช่น ความเชื่อที่

วินิจฉัย โดย ถามถึงสาเหตุการเกิคความผิดปกติ (cause), กลไกการเกิดโรค (mechanism of disease),
รายละเอียดผลการตรวจร่างกาย (physical examination) และผลการตรวจทางห้องปฏิบัติการ (laboratory
investigation) เป็นต้น ซึ่งแพทย์สามารถให้คาอธิบายรายละเอียดข้อมูลดังกล่าว โดยคานึงถึงข้อแนะนาดังต่อไปนี้
1. อธิบายโดยใช้คาศัพท์ที่ผู้ปุวยสามารถเข้าใจได้ (lay terms) หลีกเลี่ยงการใช้คาศัพท์เทคนิคเฉพาะ
ทางด้านการแพทย์ (medical jargon)
