Hamlet Essays On Madness
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Hamlet: Essays on Madness" is no simple task. The
complexity of this topic lies in the intricate layers of Shakespeare's iconic play, "Hamlet," and the
multifaceted exploration of madness within its narrative. Delving into the nuances of Hamlet's
mental state, the reasons behind his perceived madness, and the impact on the overall storyline
requires a thorough understanding of both the play and the broader context of Shakespearean
literature.
One of the challenges is deciphering the fine line between feigned madness and genuine
psychological turmoil in Hamlet's character. The play itself is a labyrinth of emotions, motives,
and relationships, making it a formidable task to analyze Hamlet's descent into madness.
Moreover, interpreting the diverse perspectives of scholars and critics on this subject adds
another layer of complexity to the essay.
The research process involves navigating through a myriad of critical analyses, academic papers,
and historical interpretations. Unraveling the psychological dimensions of Hamlet's character
demands a deep dive into the realms of literature, psychology, and even cultural influences of
the Elizabethan era.
Structuring the essay poses its own set of challenges. Balancing the exploration of Hamlet's
madness with a coherent and well-organized argument requires meticulous planning. The essay
must seamlessly integrate textual evidence, critical viewpoints, and personal analysis to present a
comprehensive and compelling narrative.
In conclusion, writing an essay on "Hamlet: Essays on Madness" demands intellectual rigor,
literary finesse, and a keen understanding of the complexities inherent in Shakespeare's
masterpiece. It is a task that requires not only a deep appreciation for literature but also the
ability to navigate the intricacies of character psychology and historical context. However, for

Major Causes Of Ischaemic Heart Disease
Introduction A risk factor is defined as a factor that raises the probability of
adverse health outcomes (WHO, 2009). WHO states that there are a number of
risk factors present out of which, lack of physical activity is one of the cardinal
risk factorsand account for 6% of mortality rate globally.According to Ministry of
Health(2013),Physical inactivity is accountable for 4.2% of health loss in New
Zealand and accounts for 25% of mortality rate due to coronary heart disease and
diabetes, 20% due tobreast cancer and ischaemic stroke and 17% due to colon
cancer. Moreover, lack of physical activity is one of the eight risk factors
responsible for 61% of cardiovascular deaths globally. This risk factor has its roots
inacomplex chain of eventsand has a fundamental role in aetiology of chronic
diseases.(figure1) Figure 1: The causal chain. Major causes of ischaemic heart
disease are shown. Arrows indicate some (but not all) of the pathways by which
these causes interact. Source: World Health Organisation, 2009
Therefore, interventions which aim to increase physical activity can help to reduce
the preventable and avoidable burden of morbidity, mortality and disability
worldwide (WHO, 2013).Geoffrey Rose(1985) described two basic intervention
approaches, i.e.population and individual based strategies, that needto be applied to
tranquillize the risk factors which are responsible for these diseases. Therefore, this
essay will explore the interventions used to address lack
The Great Gatsby Film Analysis
There are many films that can impact adults lives, however, through the works of
Baz Luhrmann in film, and F. Scott Fitzgerald s work in paper one can argue that
the film The Great Gatsby can have a great effect on the viewers. The 2013 film by
Baz Luhrmann steps out of the typical Hollywood regime through its colors, music
and visual effects; this is done in order to perfectly convey the valuable lessons
Fitzgerald brings. The Loyola University Chicago Film Committee should most
definitely add the film, The Great Gatsby, by author F. Scott Fitzgeraldand director
Baz Luhrmann in their top twenty films list. The film effectively shows to be useful
for college students in a personal and academic form. The movie proves to be one
worth watching as it conveys a powerful message for college students, regarding the
American dream through music choice; while also useful as a teaching tool in
teaching students coloranalysis through symbolism and plot development, which
can be applied to their academic life. The film is able to convey the message of the
American Dream through its unconventional film technique of postmodern music.
Music adds a subconscious depth to the message the film is portraying, it can
manipulate the audience s feeling and add connotation to events such as tension or
make scenes more memorable. Luhrmann challenges the typical form of conveying
a message by carefully choosing modern contemporary music and combining it
with 1920 s Jazz. With music from artists such as Jay Z, Kanye West, Fergie and
Lana del Rey. Luhrmann presents the message that the American Dream can turn
those in poverty to riches. The message conveyed by Fitzgerald is that you can rise
from whatever beginning, or whatever background to have it all as long as you
work hard. This dream is conveyed in the film during Nick s scene, where he is
describing Manhattan, the stock markets and everything regarding that has to do
with being rich. While he describes this the song Who gon stop me, by Kanye West,
is played. This specific sentence of the song is repetitive in order to show how the
big city can bring in so much money and opportunities. The constant repetition of the
lyrics along with the visuals of wealth shown in the
Ancient Greece and Its Influence on Western Society Essay
Ancient Greek culture had major influences on today s culture; some of these
influences include mathematics, government, art and architecture; they even did
research in the field of medicine. Many cultures and religions have adapted their
ideas from the ancient Greeks. Without the influences of the ancient Greeks our
society wouldn t be the way it is today. The Greek culture lasted from around 776
BCE to 146 BCE (though it is argued to have begun around 1000 BCE), during this
time they invented many technologies and refined old technologies. These things are
what caused the ancient Greek culture to be such a powerful influence on western
society today.

The society that we live in today was formed from of all of the good things from
these various systems of government. Most scholars believe that democracy began
an ancient Greece. Around 510 BCE the ancient Athenians invented democracy. In
the Athenian democracy each year, 500 names were drawn from all the citizens of
Athens. Those 500 citizens had to serve for one year as the law makers of ancient
Athens. All citizens of Athens were required to vote on any new law that this body
of 500 citizens created. One man, one vote, majority ruled. Women, children, and
slaves were not citizens, and thus could not vote (Roots of Democracy). Greece was
a collection of some 1500 separate communities scattered round the Mediterranean
and Black Sea shores. At one point in ancient Greeks history there was almost 100
years serious civil unrest, but ostracisms fulfilled their functions of preventing a civil
war (Democratic Experiment). Though the Greeks were recognized as being the
inventors of democracy, they re most recognized by the modern civilization for their
artwork and architecture. Ancient Greek architecture advanced over hundreds years;
starting in the new stone age, and ending in the archaic period. The Greeks are
known for their large stone columns and huge stone buildings. Ancient architects are
even credited for building one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the statue of Zeus
at Olympia. The earliest buildings were

The contrast between the inside and the outside of the Kowalski s apartment
intensifies, or creates drama, as it makes a divide between the internal world of the
apartment and the external world of the street, as well as portrays Blanche s struggle
between living in reality and fantasy. Williams utilization of the flexible set allows
the street to be seen at the same time as the inside of the apartment to suggest that the
home is not impermeable to the outside world, or reality, and thus the problems from
the outside world enter the Kowalski s apartment, intensifying the drama. The most
notable example of the use of interior and exterior sets is in scene 10. In scene 10,
Stanley rapes Blanche. However, right before it occurs, the back wall of the
apartment becomes transparent to reveal the situation happening on the street, that of
a drunk person and a prostitute, a police whistling to them to leave and a black
woman coming upon the prostitute s purse and going through it. Each aspect of the
external world seen after the apartment wall becomes transparent foreshadows or
relates to the events and happenings within the home. The drunk man illustrates
Blanche and Stanley s habit to drink a lot, the prostitute symbolizes Blanche s
association of sex and death, and the black woman going through the purse
foreshadows the violation that is going to occur in the apartment.
Although both Miller and Williams use the set as a means of

Memoirs of a Geisha
Historical Novel: Memoirs of a Geisha Memoirs of a Geisha is a compelling novel
that is centered on a young girl s journey of maturing and becoming a prominent
and successful geisha. The book was written by Author Golden and published in
1997. The story was based on the life of geisha in Japan during the 1930s and
1940s. Geisha literally translates into art person. Geisha are Japanese women that are
trained to entertain men with singing, dancing, and conversation. The book itself was
very accurate in a historical perspective and quite frankly, a very good read. The
book opens in the first person voice of Sayuri, the main character, and stays the same
throughout the novel. Sayuri tells about her childhood growing up in Yoroido.... Show

Rebecca s Pay
There are a lot of factors that go into determining an employee s pay. Some people
may believe that performance is the key factor in determining a person s pay,
while others may believe that it s only the duties associated with the job. I will
explain why I feel that Ted was justified in insisting that Rebecca s job be evaluated
and not solely Rebecca s performance. Further, I will explain what I would do and
say if I were Ted when talking to the job evaluation committee. Lastly, I will discuss
why I believe there should be a maximum rate of pay for every job in an organization,
regardless of how well the job is being performed.
In your educated opinion was Ted justified in insisting that the job, not the person,
be evaluated? Discuss. I do believe that Ted was justified when he insisted that
Rebecca s job is to be evaluated and not the person. Ted may have been a bit upset
because these same two executives raising the issue were part of the evaluation
committee that already evaluated the jobs assigned to Pay Grade 4, which included
Rebecca s pay grade (TRIDENT). Job evaluation is a measurement of the internal

Don Mclean Pie Literary Devices
American Pie was written in 1971 and topped the music charts in 1972. Don
Mclean wrote it partly as a biography and partly as the story of the evolving
America through the 1950 s, 1960 s, and 1970 s. Don Mclean wrote the song to tell
a story about his generation and how it had and continued to change since he was
younger. It took Mclean over ten years of work and with the combination of many
ideas American Piewas born. In American Pie by Don Mclean, he shows America s
lost innocence in the song after the 1950 s through symbolism, allusion, and

idea of the American dream, of the idea of domesticity of the 1950 s.Mclean delves
much deeper into this change of society and loss of the original American dream,
to much more specific details. In the first verse the line With a pink carnation and

romance has changed along with society. The simplicity of a flower and a cool car,

Reproductive cloning technology may offer many new possibilities, including hope

Gene cloning is a unique and complicated technology that holds answers to many
questions, and offers numerous possibilities. The process of gene cloning will
provide potential answers for questions and puzzles concerning cancer, aging, and
inherited diseases, and will help provide a better tool for scientific health research,
human and animal alike. But what exactly is gene cloning? It is a process in which
a small portion of genetic information (a piece of DNA or gene) is removed from one
organism, and introduced into a host cell (Wong, 4 5). In order to accomplish this,
the gene is first inserted into a vector, or small piece of DNA. The vector then acts
as a vehicle (Wong, 4 5) and transports the gene into the host cell. The act of this
transportation into the host cell is called transformation, and the host cell becomes
known as a transformed cell. This is where the gene containing vector is replicated
or cloned into identical cells (Wong, 31 34)
Important discoveries led to this ability to clone genes. In 1970, scientists Howard
Temin and David Baltimore were able to isolate the first restrictive enzymes, named
Reverse Transcriptase, which cut DNA in particular locations (History of Cloning).
These enzymes, after cutting the DNA, leave what are known as sticky ends, which
are then healed by enzymes called ligase (McKinnell, 8 11). Then in 1972, Paul
Berg from Stanford University successfully combined two pieces of DNA to form

Reasons for United States Involvement in World War I
At first the public opinion of Americans was firmly set on neutrality. The majority of
people had little or no concerns of the affairs of the rest of the world why should

grounds that he had kept them out of the war. The president also knew only too well
that many Americans were unsympathetic towards Britain. There were German

Of the 1198 passengers who died, 128 of these were American. This aroused great

announced passenger ships would be sunk without warning. The sinking of the
Lusitania was used in British propaganda to remind the US citizens of the lives that
had been lost due to Germany, hence they should join the war to defeat them.
The Germans decided to return to the policy of unrestricted submarine attacks on
shipping in January 1917. The Submarines were not able to sink well organised
military ships and this is probably why passenger ships were attacked. Diplomatic
relations between Germany and America were broken off by Wilson when and
American liner was sunk on 3 February. This act taken by Germany was a big gamble
to try to relieve the stalemate situation on the Western front, but this was an important
reason towards America becoming involved in the way.
That same month, Alfred Zimmerman sent orders to the German Ambassador in
Mexico to try to enlist support against the US. Mexico would be rewarded with the
opportunity to regain territory, supposedly theirs, which was now part of the US. The
note was intercepted by the British secret service, and when it published in March,
Americans were outraged and infuriated. This was another gamble, but far more
reckless. The stalemate had left their

the large force encounter when the car hits but at the same time can be controlled by
some effort. The car accidents have many sources not only speeding, lack of attention
or uncontrollable factors because there are many other causes of car accidents. The
safety of the car would be more advance in the later time, with much more protective
equipment preventing from shock in the human to sensor that automatically pre

C Average For Student Athletes
Primarily, a C average should not be required for student athletes to play sports on a
school team because it discourages many students. A student may be born to be an
athlete, but can be struggling to keep up academically in school. If a student is
rejected from playing the sport they love because of their other struggles, this will
discourage them. This can hurt a student. For example, a student may reject a
challenging, but interesting class in fear of getting a bad grade. **Opponents of this
argument may say that forcing students to have a C average will encourage them to
do well in school.** In reality, a student will be dejected enough to drop out of
school. In other words, some students may give up completely, rather than trying
Pleasantville Racism Paper

Not as Simple as Black and White Discrimination is behavior, intentional or not,
which negatively treats a person or a group of people based on their racial origins
(Randall). It is unclear what the exact cause is for people to be prejudiced towards
another group of individuals. Racism could perhaps be triggered by having a fear of
people who are different, needing to fit in with others who are of a racist mindset,
and/or being ignorant of other people s cultures. In the 1998 movie Pleasantville, it is
shown that racism and discrimination towards different people occurs because of
sudden changes to an established system and society. In reality, racism is a result of
generations of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The appearance of color in Pleasantville showed that the town and citizens were
undergoing change, and that this change was making the inhabitants feel free and
similar to people from the 90s. When objects and people around town quickly
turned from black and white to color, many of the older, more traditional citizens of
the town resisted the change. Pleasantville mayor Big Bob speaks of the changes,
up until now, everything around here has been, well, pleasant. Recently certain
things have become unpleasant. Now, it seems to me that the first thing we have to
do is to separate out the things that are pleasant from the things that are unpleasant
(Pleasantville). Big Bob and a large group of citizens, mostly consisting of the older
men of the town, form a group of people trying to keep the town pleasant, or not
colored. This group begins putting up signs around town banning colored people,
similar to situations that African Americans dealt with before the civil rights
movement. They also harass all the colored people on the streets, and even vandalize
and destroy Bill Johnson s shop for having colorful art on the windows. Finally, the
group has meetings featuring all the influential non colored people in town, and this
new assembly draws similarities to Nazism with their symbols and beliefs.

Trauma In Veterans
Fighting for your country is hard enough without returning home to face another
battlefield, an invisible internal struggle with being home. According to research
done by Dr. Patel, almost half of the veterans returning home that were in active duty
in Iraq and Afghanistan are coming back with invisible mental wounds that we are
still attempting to understand. (Patel, 2015) Many face continuous struggles to
reintegrate themselves back into society due to the conditions they are trained
under. Understanding the impacts of trauma, more support for caregivers, and a
hands on, positive approach to the hidden mental illnesses, society will be better
prepared to help veterans transition back to civilian life. Post traumatic stress
disorder is not a new concept to the military. Identified in 1945 as war neuroses
(Grinker Spielgel, 1945) PTSD, as most psychologists refer to this disorder as, is a
common occurs to military personnelstationed within the battle lines. This condition
can include having nightmares, flashbacks, mood swings and much more. (U.S.
Department of Veteran Affairs, 2015) The problem that most returning Operation
Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi freedom veterans are facing is... Show more

(Patel, 2015) This creates more problems for not just the veteran themselves, but for
the whole community. Some veterans returning home cannot even operate a vehicle
themselves due to mental stress. According to the method formed by Viktor Frankl, a
Nazi concentration camp survivor, if the veterans could change the negative effects
from their experiences into a positive outlook then maybe healing can begin long
before returning home (Osran, Smee, Sreenivasan, Weinberger, 2010) Using spiritual
motivation accompanied by positive therapies, veterans might be able to transition
more smoothly back into
Compare And Contrast Beowolf And Anne Of Green Gables
Intro: Beowolf and Anne of Green Gables are two heroes that show the same
characteristics Paragraph 1: Anne is a character that demonstrates loyalty, this is
also a trait Beowolf shows very clearly. Anne s past as an orphan has meant that
very few people wanted her. She finally finds a friend, Dianna that won t leave her
or make fun of her. Anne quickly becomes loyal and they quickly become the best
of friends with Anne making sure that no one makes fun or hurts Dianna. Beowolf is
a person who is very loyal. He treats his team of warriors like family as each risk their
lives to protect so many others. He is also loyal to his people by going out to defeat
Grendel so they wont die if Grendel decided to attack and eat them. Paragraph 2:

... Divorced, Beheaded, Survived
The story, Divorced, Beheaded, Survived, takes place in two different settings. The
first (The flashbacks) setting we get introduced to is the childhood neighborhood of
Sarah and her older brother Terry. We hear about them and their friends, and how
they used to play together in the game of playing the Tudors (old English royal
family). The flashbacks are between the years 1973 and 1974. The second setting is
taking place in the present time, in the home of Sarah, with Sarah as the main
character. She has a family with her husband Lyle and together they have 2 children,
Coco and Mark. In both settings death is appearing. First there is the death of Terry
and in the present path we hear about the death of ... Show more content on

The first word, divorced, can be used to illustrate how she and her brother takes
distance from each other, when Sarah learns about her brothers illness. The second
word, beheaded, can be used to illustrate the death of Terry. Not only does Sarah
lose him but the other children too. They are avoiding Sarah. And at last the word
survived, can be used to show the Sarah survives. The title becomes a symbol on
that even if someone close to us dies, we have to keep on with our lives and not let
it be a burden for the rest of our lives. Even though that it how Sarah s is living her
life.
In the story Sarah has a huge burden. She keeps the death of her brother a secret to
protect the childlike innocence of her children. But her attempt on hiding it is in
vain, because Coco and Mark already know about Uncle Terry. But it s not just to
protect her children it s also about protecting herself because the death of Terry still
effect her. Maybe that s why that Mark reacts the same way as her mother when
Peter died. I can conclude from this story that the only way to get over the loss of a
loved one is through talking with another person.

Why The Raid At Cabanatuan
The raid at Cabanatuan was the product of a failed campaign to protect the
Philippines from Japanese control in 1941 42, which resulted in the capture of
over 550 American and allied POWs. The capture of the Philippines was essential
to Japan, who would be able to use it as a resupply point, as well as eliminating the
natural barrier that existed between them and China. The raid was organized three
years later in an effort to release the POWS and further the mission of the Allies
reclaiming the Philippines from Japanese control. On December 7th 1941, Japanese
air forces attacked Pearl Harbor, destroying ships and claiming more than 2,400 lives.
This attack is most noted for being one of the single most important events leading to

The result of the American defeat in Bataan was the Bataan Death March. The
transfer of POWs from Bataan to camp O Donnell in the northern part of the island
spanned 61 miles, 40 of which were traveled by foot. Along the way, the lack of
Japanese supplies left very little for the POWs. The ones who fell out of the march
were killed, with countless others dying of disease and starvation. By the time
they troops had reached their destination of Camp O Donnell, the American forces
had lost endured nearly 10,000 casualties as well as 18,000 which died within the
first six weeks of the troops being in Camp O Donnell. POW s were moved from
Camp O Donnell Cabanatuan, where they remained until January of 1945. The
camp at Cabanatuan was used mainly for sick POWs, while the able bodied ones
were sent back to Japan in order to occupy the hard labor camps. The POWs who
stay in Cabanatuan were starved, beaten, and suffered from Malaria. The Japanese
were instructed to treat POWs nicely, however due to cultural differences; the
POWs who surrendered were seen as dishonorable and unworthy of support. The
standing order for a man attempting to escape or seen smuggling food/medicine,
was for that man to have to watch as 10 other POWs were executed. The POWs
endured the mistreatment and torturous conditions for over two years before the
American and Allied forces were able to battle back in order to reoccupy the
Philippines. The Allied forces began to work their way back to the
Oxidative Stress On Athletes
There is a general idea that moderate and regular physical training may enhance the
immune function and more often decrease the risk of immune related illness.
Numerous studies have shown the correlation between exercise and immunity
responses on athletes. It is broadly clear that the practices of good a nutrition intake

of the nutrients we consume through our foods everyday may not be enough to
receive the entire healthy nutrient s needed. Soccer is a sport that requires athletes to

One study examine how nutrient intake influences female soccer players, immune
responses, oxidative stress, and muscle damage. The study focused in the
consumption of macronutrients and micronutrient intake. Findings on the study
showed a significant correlation on nutrient intake in decreasing oxidative stress,
muscle damage, and immune responses on these athletes. These findings suggest that
antioxidants are essential for the body to recover and prevent any injuries. Although it
is well known that vitamin deficiencies can create difficulties in training and
recovery, the role of antioxidant supplementation in a well nourished athlete is
controversial. The experimental studies are often conflicting and conclusions are
difficult to reach. Nevertheless, most of the data suggest that increased intake of
vitamin E is protective against exercise induced oxidative damage (Gravina et al.
2012). It is hypothesized that vitamin E is also involved in the recovery process
following exercise. Currently, the amount of vitamin E needed to produce these
effects is unknown. The diet may supply enough vitamin E in most athletes, but some
may require supplementation. Exercise has shown an effect on lymphocyte response
and the total blood cell counts (Sureda et al. 2005). This concludes that exercise
increases the production of free radicals, therefore nutrition
The Music Of John Cage
John Cage lived a very interesting, non traditional life that allowed him to form his
outside of the box philosophy on music that questions the very definition of music.
After exploring many different careers in the art world, he decided to compose music
and through a winding, tumultuous road, he rose to the top of the classical music
world. His life greatly influenced his music. His study of Buddhism and working
with the choreographies of Merce Cunningham allowed Cage to discover the other
side of music, silence. Cage and his philosophies not only changed music for the
better but also changed the path that all types of art for the good; without Cage s
philosophy on silence, musicians and composers would be doing their jobs differently.

Cage says that Schoenberg has had the biggest influence on his work. With Cage
being very young, he had trouble paying for the lessons from Schoenberg, so
Schoenberg cut a deal with Cage. He would tutor him for free as long as Cage
promised to devote his life to music. This is why even forty years later, Cage was
still drafting compositions, he was so grateful for Schoenberg s generosity that he
did not want to break the promise. After studying under Schoenberg for 2 years,
Cage met Xenia Kashevaroff and married her. She was a dancer and they moved to
Hollywood where Cage choreographed music for his wife s dance routines. During
this time, Cage began using irregular instruments. After teaching at UCLA and other
colleges, Cage left to go to Seattle, Washington, and become a composer.
In the 1940s, Cage and Xenia moved to New York and stayed with good friends,
but after a falling out, Cage was left homeless without any money, even after he just
had his most successful concert yet. After the rough patch in the 40s, Cage s life
started to come together after a few of Cage s compositions became very successful
in the 1950s. In 1952, Cage composed what is perceived as his most famous work 4

musicians do not play their instruments, but the sound comes from the audience. For

British Naval Superiority
Throughout the nineteenth century, the British Royal Navy was a force that could
not be matched. Not only did the Navy connect the heart of the empire to its colonies,
it also assured the transportation of resources. In previous years, Britain s possession
of coal had been the primary fuel for global British domination. However,
industrialization brought with it new and more efficient innovations and technology.
Embracing technology would lead to the continuation of British domination, but to
not adapt at a time when nations such as Germany and Italy were learning to flex
their military might, would be detrimental to British Naval supremacy. The oil

Because of the Britain s fear of growing dependence on foreign oil, the following
class of destroyers was built to burn coal. However, the ineffectiveness of this class
clearly illustrated that oil was superior to coal, and henceforth all other destroyers
were built using oil. Furthermore, In 1912, the Queen Elizabeth class of super
dreadnoughts became the first British battleship which only used oil. Not only was
this ship substantially faster than its predecessors, it was also more efficient.
Previous Dreadnoughts of comparable size required 260 men to work the engine,
while the Elizabeth class reduced this number to 110. The Queen Elizabeth became
the flagship of the fleet and on November 15, 1918, a German representative
boarded the ship and accepted the terms of surrender for the German High Fleet This

The NBA Is A Dream In The NBA
For most young players, playing in the NBA is a dream. For a lot of people, they
only see and judge from the outside looking in. They have no idea the body of work
that players put together throughout the years just to get to the NBA. For the lucky
few making it to the NBA is the easy part, maintaining their longevity in the leagueis
the hard part. Which is why all the great players eat, sleep, and breathe basketball.
That obsessive quality is what made players such as Kobe Bryant, and Micheal
Jordan great. Before Jordan, and Bryant was known as The Black Mamba, and Air

pains of making it first as a rotation player, then as one of the league main

the The Pittman Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act of 1937. States have the most

Feudalism
Explain how the system known as feudalism worked in Medieval Europe.
The bases of feudalism is best described as a social system in Europe throughout the
Middle Ages where individuals worked and battled for upper class who gave them
protection and the use of the land in return for their services (Merriam Webster).
Feudalism is not a medieval term and not even a translation of a medieval concept
(Abels 2010; Brown 2010; Bouchard 1998). In our day and time Feudalism would
be difficult and baffling in several ways, but some may feel that we would benefit
from it.
During this time the social class depended on how much land you owned. Royalty
in your Kings and Queens was part of the upper class; the noble lords and vassals

apart. They begin to fight among each other for the Kingdom. They became a

dysfunction into order during a violent time.
What was its impact on the mission of the church?
The Church was the absolute most predominant foundation in medieval life, its
impact invading practically every part of individuals lives. Its religious observances
often shape to the plan; its customs checked every minute in a person s life; and its
lessons supported standard convictions about morals, the significance of life and
existence. Church in Western Europe was recognized as the Roman Catholic Church
went from the religion of the Roman Empire to the official religion and the most
powerful institution of the Middle Ages. All of Europe had been converted to
Christianity by the year 1000. Although this process was peaceful at times but other
times it got downright ugly.
The inclusion of the church in the system became a political reality. The unsettled
conditions caused by the Viking and Magyar invasions forced church officials to
enter into close relations with the only power able to offer them protection. Bishops
and abbots thus became vassals, receiving fiefs for which they were obligated to
provide the usual feudal services. The
The Court Of Justice Of The European Union
The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) is a governing body ensuring
law in the European Union (EU) is interpreted and applied in the same manner in
every country in the EU, and also ensures countries and EU institutions abide by EU
law. The CJEU was founded in Luxembourg in 1952 and can settle legal disputes
between national governments and EU institutions. The CJEU can also be used by
individuals, companies or organizations to take legal action against an EU institution,
if they feel that the institution has violated or infringed upon their rights. The Court
can give rulings on the cases that are brought before it based on interpreting the law,
enforcing the law, annulling EU legal acts, ensuring the EU takes action, or
sanctioning EU institutions ( Presentation ). The CJEU is divided into three bodies,
the Court of Justice, the General Court and the Civil Service Tribunal. The Court of
Justice deals with requests for preliminary ruling from national courts and certain
actions for annulment. They also deal with appeals brought before the CJEU. The
General Court rules on actions for annulment brought by companies, individuals and
EU governments. This body generally deals with competition law, State aid, trade,
agriculture and trade marks. The Civil Service tribunal deals with disputes between
the EU and its employees. The judges and Advocates General are appointed for a 6
year term that can be renewed by their national governments. In each of the three

Edmund Spenser vs. Virgil and Ariosto Essay
Edmund Spenser vs Virgil and Ariosto Some scholars believe Spenser did not have
sufficient education to compose a work with as much complexity as The Faerie
Queene, while others are still extolling him as one of the most learned men of his
time . Scholar Douglas Bush agrees, scholars now speak less certainly that they once
did of his familiarity with ancient literature . In contrast, Meritt Hughes finds no
evidence that Spenser derived any element of his poetry from any Greek Romance .

Another scholar testified that both Ariosto and Spenser did not observe Virgil s
conception of an epic as a unified account of a single hero s career, but instead got
lost in their concentrations on wild, unnatural allegories that greatly displeased and
ultimately confused the reader (1).
Spenser, who was referred to as the English Virgil by his contemporaries, was
certainly influenced by Virgil s success (Kennedy 717). The idea of modeling one
s career after Virgil s is know as the rota Virgilli or cursus Virgilli, meaning the
Virgilian wheel or course (717). It is explained in a four line preface added to
Renaissance editions of the Aeneid: Ille ego, qui quondam gracili modulates avena
/ Carmen, et egressus silvis vicina coegi/ ut quamvis avido parerent arva colono,
/ gratum opus agricolis, at nunc horrentia Martis (I am he who, after singing on the
shepherd s slender pipe and leaving the wood side for the farmlands ever so much to
obey their eager tenant; my work was welcome to the farmers, but now I turn to the
sterner stuff on Mars)(717).
Virgil starts off writing the pastoral poem and ends with the epic. He begins his
career with shepherd s slender pipe (the pastoral Eclogues), proceeds to the
farmlands (the didactic Georgics), and finally arrives at the sterner stuff on Mars
(the epic Aeneid) (717). Spenser described his own career similarly in the first book
of The Faerie Queene: Lo I the man, whose Muse whilome

in the area of knowing the law, legal research and how it applies to a client s case.
Furthermore, paralegals also as assist their Attorneys on a variety of tasks
pertaining to a law related matters. Regardless, no matter how knowledgeable the
paralegal may be; they are always required to work under the direct supervision of
an attorney. There are very little exceptions for paralegals to work in the law field,
unsupervised. Even in these exceptions, It is still possible for a professional
paralegal, under the supervision of an attorney or not, to still commit UPL

paralegal knows the answer to a client s legal question, they must never give that
client any advice or direction for applying case law recommendations and remedies

Sam Adams Sons Of Liberty
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS IN the 1760s was a hotbed of radical political
activity and the scene of constant violent protest against British colonial policy.
Much of the credit for the Revolutionary stance of Bostonians belongs to Sam
Adams and a group that came to be known as his Sons of Liberty (or the Boston
Mob as some called them).
Adams, a Boston attorney and John Adams cousin, hardly seemed like a
revolutionary. revolution. He had a sunken chest, a sallow complexion, and wishy
washy gray eyes, wrote one historian, and his lips twitched and trembled, for he
suffered from palsy. Financially, he was a loser: he dressed poorly and earned little.
Like his more successful cousin, Sam Adams was a devout Christian, beginning his

The battles at Lexington and Concord were simply formalized versions of the
resistance that had been going on in the streets of Boston for 10 years. The Sons of
Liberty introduced violence into the British American dispute and made
reconciliation impossible, which was Adams goal all along, namely to alienate the
moderates and make them choose sides. Events also revealed that news and
propaganda often were one and the same, depending on who did the reporting. With
that strategy in mind, Sam Adams and the Sons of Liberty proved that rioting,
looting, and violence disgusting as they often were could be effective Revolutionary
Gilgamesh Character Analysis
Have you ever wanted something so badly that you would quite literally go to the
end of the world to retrieve it? This is an attribute that perfectly describes the
character of Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh is the main character of the ancient Uruk epic
that is known as the epic of Gilgamesh. He experiences a lot of hardship and
tribulations throughout the story. Some of the things are the loss of his brother Enkidu
, which makes him want to become Immortal, the death of Humbaba This changes
him in many different ways, like how he changes the way he acts from acting like a
god to a noble and fair king. My goal in this paper is to show you how the events of
the death of Humbaba, the death of Enkidu and his quest for his immortality... Show

So, they put him through pain for so many days until he finally dies. His death
changes Gilgamesh so much that he realizes he not the immortal god he thinks he is.
This is show in this quote from the story Hear me, great ones of Uruk, I weep for
Enkidu, my friend, Bitterly moaning like a woman mourning I weep for my
brother O Enkidu, my brother, You were the axe at my side, My hand s strength,
the sword in my belt, The shield before me, He realizes that he is just like us a
mortal mostly human being. Which lead to him searching for the one thing he
now wants most in his life, Immortality. He goes on a quest to find him leads to
him finding Utnapishtim. He tells Gilgamesh about the plant at the bottom of the
river that will give him what he seeks, the key to immortality. When Gilgamesh
retrieves it though, a snake comes up and eats the plant becoming immortal in the
process. This means that he can no longer become immortal. He then comes home
and becomes the good king and lives out the rest of his life until his death. This is
shown in this quote from the story The king has laid himself down and will not
rise again, The Lord of Kullab will not rise again; He overcame evil, he will not come
again; Though he was strong of arm he will not rise again
The events of the death of Humbaba, the death of Enkidu and his failed search for
immortality are just a couple of the events in the story that change him and turn him
into the king he was meant to be. That s
Gogh Create Shading In A Cottage On The Heath And The...
In A Cottage on the Heath and The Protestant Barn , Vincent van Gogh used similar
colors and shading to create a sense of isolation, routine, and hopelessness. This is
shown by the monotonous colors, the detailed shading, and the figures in the
artwork. To begin with, the colors of the painting are all nearly the same. The colors
are different shades of tan and brown, except for certain parts of the picture. The
colors of the sky make it look unsettled, making the picture miserable and hopeless.
Occasionally, the shading or shadows of the paintingcreate darker colors such as
black or grey, which only adds to the sense of desperateness. These colors add to the
sense of isolation, routine, and hopelessness because of their monotonous and bland

Scott Fitzgerald s work in paper one can argue that the film The Great Gatsby can have a great effect on the viewers. The 2013 film by Baz Luhrmann steps out of the typical Hollywood regime through its colors, music and visual effects; this is done in order to perfectly convey the valuable lessons Fitzgerald brings. The Loyola University Chicago Film Committee should most definitely add the film, The Great Gatsby, by author F. Scott Fitzgeraldand director Baz Luhrmann in their top twenty films list. The film effectively shows to be useful for college students in a personal and academic form. The movie proves to be one worth watching as it conveys a powerful message for college students, regarding the American dream through music choice; while also useful as a teaching tool in teaching students coloranalysis through symbolism and plot development, which can be applied to their academic life. The film is able to convey the message of the American Dream through its unconventional film technique of postmodern music. Music adds a subconscious depth to the message the film is portraying, it can manipulate the audience s feeling and add connotation to events such as tension or make scenes more memorable. Luhrmann challenges the typical form of conveying a message by carefully choosing modern contemporary music and combining it with 1920 s Jazz. With music from artists such as Jay Z, Kanye West, Fergie and Lana del Rey. Luhrmann presents the message that the American Dream can turn those in poverty to riches. The message conveyed by Fitzgerald is that you can rise from whatever beginning, or whatever background to have it all as long as you work hard. This dream is conveyed in the film during Nick s scene, where he is describing Manhattan, the stock markets and everything regarding that has to do with being rich. While he describes this the song Who gon stop me, by Kanye West, is played. This specific sentence of the song is repetitive in order to show how the big city can bring in so much money and opportunities. The constant repetition of the lyrics along with the visuals of wealth shown in the

All citizens of Athens were required to vote on any new law that this body of 500 citizens created. One man, one vote, majority ruled. Women, children, and slaves were not citizens, and thus could not vote (Roots of Democracy). The process of gene cloning will provide potential answers for questions and puzzles concerning cancer, aging, and inherited diseases, and will help provide a better tool for scientific health research, human and animal alike. But what exactly is gene cloning? It is a process in which a small portion of genetic information (a piece of DNA or gene) is removed from one organism, and introduced into a host cell (Wong, 4 5). In order to accomplish this, the gene is first inserted into a vector, or small piece of DNA. The vector then acts as a vehicle (Wong, 4 5) and transports the gene into the host cell. The act of this transportation into the host cell is called transformation, and the host cell becomes known as a transformed cell. This is where the gene containing vector is replicated or cloned into identical cells (Wong, 31 34) Important discoveries led to this ability to clone genes. In 1970, scientists Howard Temin and David Baltimore were able to isolate the first restrictive enzymes, named Reverse Transcriptase, which cut DNA in particular locations (History of Cloning). These enzymes, after cutting the DNA, leave what are known as sticky ends, which are then healed by enzymes called ligase (McKinnell, 8 11). Pleasantville mayor Big Bob speaks of the changes, up until now, everything around here has been, well, pleasant. Recently certain things have become unpleasant. Now, it seems to me that the first thing we have to do is to separate out the things that are pleasant from the things that are unpleasant (Pleasantville). Big Bob and a large group of citizens, mostly consisting of the older men of the town, form a group of people trying to keep the town pleasant, or not colored. This group begins putting up signs around town banning colored people, similar to situations that African Americans dealt with before the civil rights movement. They also harass all the colored people on the streets, and even vandalize and destroy Bill Johnson s shop for having colorful art on the windows. Finally, the group has meetings featuring all the influential non colored people in town, and this new assembly draws similarities to Nazism with their symbols and beliefs. Pleasantville shows a

According to research done by Dr. Patel, almost half of the veterans returning home that were in active duty in Iraq and Afghanistan are coming back with invisible mental wounds that we are still attempting to understand. The idea of modeling one s career after Virgil s is know as the rota Virgilli or cursus Virgilli, meaning the Virgilian wheel or course (717).
