Een van de redenen hiervoor is dat het elektriciteitsgebruik de komende jaren gaat stijgen, onder meer als gevolg van het grotere aanbod aan elektrische vervoermiddelen. Dat levert naast uitdagingen ook kansen op. Want hoe beter de balans tussen vraag en aanbod, des te betaalbaarder wordt energie. Een overschot aan zonne-energie rond het middaguur zou bijvoorbeeld heel goed geabsorbeerd kunnen worden door elektrische auto’s.
