THE JOURNEY
Visiting to the site at Riverstone Eco Resort
• Briefing Session was given after our
arrival.
• Then, we proceed to our dorm accordingly.
• After that, we started to do our research on
the plants and animals at our chosen site.
• Exploring sites
This landscape model shows my chosen site where I do research on plants and animals.
Introduction to my chosen Plant
“Morning Glory”
Morning Glory ( The whitestar potato, Ipomoea Lacunosa )
• It is a species that correlate with the Ipomoea genus and it is
mostly found around the banks of lakes, cultivated fields and
wooded areas.
• This flower inclines towards moist habitats but cannot abide at
the place with extensive amounts of shade.
• It has cordate leaves with a point tip and this shows the
plant is mature.
• The stem of this species plant has slightly hairy, twisting,
climbing and twining vine with a fibrous root as well as a
small taproot.
• The funnel shaped flower of the plant is normally white
but on rare occasion the flower can be light purple or pink .
• The stalks of the plant that hold up flowers is rough and
usually has one to three flowers.
• This is the defense system of the plant to protect itself from being harmed.
Introduction to my chosen Insect
“Butterfly”
• A butterfly is a primarily day-flying insect of the order Lepidoptera which
comprehends the butterflies and moths.
• It has large, often glowingly coloured wings and conspicuous, fluttering flight.
• Like other holometabolous insects, the butterfly’s life cycle
exist in four parts which are egg, larva, pupa and adult.
• It usually can live from a week to nearly a year during its
adult stage determining by its species.
5 Senses Experience
• SEE • HEAR
• FEEL • TASTE
• SMELL
• SEE - When I visit the site, I am amazed by it’s scenery which includes the river, forest, sands,
trees and other more.
• HEAR - I can hear the sound of water flowing when I pass by along the river side and the sound
of birds chirping around the forest side.
TASTE - I taste the water in the river and I feel it is very fresh and brings a bit sweetness compare to
our the mineral which we drink daily.
SMELL – I can smell the refreshing air at the site I have visited as there is surrounded with trees
and forest which has no air pollution compared to the city area.
FEEL - I feel the environment at the side is cooler and when I step into the river, I can feel the water is
cold. Besides, I feel various surfaces of the ground at different places when I step on them with
my bare feet.
This is the group photo at the end of the trip.
Ecosystem is an integrated system between organisms and the physical environment. It constitutes as the
Earth’s biosphere and support human existence. Since the ecosystems supply the natural resources and
other goods and services that human require, it is important to understand the knowledge about ecosystem
because the diversity of the Earth’s physical and biological processes performs by the interaction between
the organisms and the environment carries at all scales from microscopic to the global. Resilient, functioning
ecosystems build soil, enhance pollination of crops, purify water, supply raw materials, regulate the
atmosphere, cycle nutrients, and detoxify waste. These and other ecosystem processes collectively form the
basis for all life on Earth. A proactive approach to managing ecosystems is needed for understanding the
structure, function, condition as well as distribution. For terrestrial, freshwater, and coastal/marine
ecosystems to continue providing these benefits, human interactions with ecosystems need to be well
achieved, especially in the face of accumulative global pressures. The ability to project future ecosystem
states in response to societal pressures is vital to make sure that ecosystems remain as the essential life-
support systems for the Earth. Land change disturbs ecosystems in critical ways. As a result, the structure and
function of the ecosystem need to be protected as well as concerned because it will limit the availability of
goods and services that are essential for ecosystem health, societal wellbeing and other environmental
system.

  • 1. Element of Natural and Built Environment Project 1 : Experiencing Nature (Site Visit) Name: Ching Yan Student ID: 0314657 Group X
  • 2. THE JOURNEY Visiting to the site at Riverstone Eco Resort
  • 3. • Briefing Session was given after our arrival.
  • 4. • Then, we proceed to our dorm accordingly. • After that, we started to do our research on the plants and animals at our chosen site.
  • 6. This landscape model shows my chosen site where I do research on plants and animals.

  • 10.
  • 11. Introduction to my chosen Plant “Morning Glory”
  • 12. Morning Glory ( The whitestar potato, Ipomoea Lacunosa )
  • 13. • It is a species that correlate with the Ipomoea genus and it is mostly found around the banks of lakes, cultivated fields and wooded areas. • This flower inclines towards moist habitats but cannot abide at the place with extensive amounts of shade.
  • 14. • It has cordate leaves with a point tip and this shows the plant is mature. • The stem of this species plant has slightly hairy, twisting, climbing and twining vine with a fibrous root as well as a small taproot. • The funnel shaped flower of the plant is normally white but on rare occasion the flower can be light purple or pink . • The stalks of the plant that hold up flowers is rough and usually has one to three flowers.
  • 15.
  • 16. • This is the defense system of the plant to protect itself from being harmed.
  • 17. Introduction to my chosen Insect “Butterfly”
  • 18. • A butterfly is a primarily day-flying insect of the order Lepidoptera which comprehends the butterflies and moths. • It has large, often glowingly coloured wings and conspicuous, fluttering flight.
  • 19.
  • 20. • Like other holometabolous insects, the butterfly’s life cycle exist in four parts which are egg, larva, pupa and adult. • It usually can live from a week to nearly a year during its adult stage determining by its species.

  • 22. 5 Senses Experience • SEE • HEAR • FEEL • TASTE • SMELL
  • 23. • SEE - When I visit the site, I am amazed by it’s scenery which includes the river, forest, sands, trees and other more.
  • 24. • HEAR - I can hear the sound of water flowing when I pass by along the river side and the sound of birds chirping around the forest side.
  • 25. TASTE - I taste the water in the river and I feel it is very fresh and brings a bit sweetness compare to our the mineral which we drink daily.
  • 26. SMELL – I can smell the refreshing air at the site I have visited as there is surrounded with trees and forest which has no air pollution compared to the city area.
  • 27. FEEL - I feel the environment at the side is cooler and when I step into the river, I can feel the water is cold. Besides, I feel various surfaces of the ground at different places when I step on them with my bare feet.
  • 28. This is the group photo at the end of the trip.
  • 29. Ecosystem is an integrated system between organisms and the physical environment. It constitutes as the Earth’s biosphere and support human existence. Since the ecosystems supply the natural resources and other goods and services that human require, it is important to understand the knowledge about ecosystem because the diversity of the Earth’s physical and biological processes performs by the interaction between the organisms and the environment carries at all scales from microscopic to the global. Resilient, functioning ecosystems build soil, enhance pollination of crops, purify water, supply raw materials, regulate the atmosphere, cycle nutrients, and detoxify waste. These and other ecosystem processes collectively form the basis for all life on Earth. A proactive approach to managing ecosystems is needed for understanding the structure, function, condition as well as distribution. For terrestrial, freshwater, and coastal/marine ecosystems to continue providing these benefits, human interactions with ecosystems need to be well achieved, especially in the face of accumulative global pressures. The ability to project future ecosystem states in response to societal pressures is vital to make sure that ecosystems remain as the essential life- support systems for the Earth. Land change disturbs ecosystems in critical ways. As a result, the structure and function of the ecosystem need to be protected as well as concerned because it will limit the availability of goods and services that are essential for ecosystem health, societal wellbeing and other environmental system.
