Through a small group activity, the student learned about their own abilities, traits, values, and dreams, as well as gaining insight into their classmates. The student discovered ways to enhance self-efficacy and achieve goals through positive thinking.
In the next class, the student explored the concepts of controlled versus automatic thinking, and how intuition can both help and hinder problem solving. They learned that problems can have multiple solutions.
The final document discussed how the meaning and representation of color differs cross-culturally. The student found it interesting to learn how color choices can impact lifestyle and mental well-being through positive or negative associations. They gained knowledge about using color in design.

Applied Learning
Psychology is an interesting field of study because the theories and concepts that you learn can often be observed in the world around you. This assignment allows you to consider material you have covered in the content of this module and apply those concepts to your own life.
In Section 1, you will identify and define ideas. In this module, as you reviewed your course materials, you likely discovered many interesting new ideas in psychology.
· Identify three different concepts, ideas, or research findings that were interesting or useful to you.
· Explain or describe each concept, theory or research finding in detail, in your own words.
· A good response here would be at least 150 words. Be sure to use proper spelling and grammar in your response. Write your response in the space below.
Response:
The three concepts or theories that I am most interested in are the Psychodynamic Theory, the Cognitive Perspective, and the Gestalt Theory. My first interest, the psychodynamic theory, was developed by neurologist Sigman Freud. Freud believed that unconscious and conscious forces drive human behavior to try and solve conflicts with personal needs and society's demands. His theory views a person as being pushed or pulled, and emphasizes early childhood as a time in which a persons personality is formed. The theory goes on to explain that a persons personality is formed by the events that motivate behavior in early childhood, therefore proving that all behavior is motivated. Freud proposed this theory by studying which parts of the personality consisted of the Id (instincts and pleasure), the superego (obedience to parents and society), and the ego (mediates between Id and superego according to it's demands). Freud felt that if he could help people understand how their personalities were developed and to understand the unconscious and conscious mind, they could actually experience an emotional release, therefore finding relief from psychological disturbances and distress. Behaviorist and Humanist also support Freud's psychodynamic theory of personalities.
My second interest, Gestalt psychology, was developed by psychologist Max Wertheimer et al., and is a theory of visual perception. Gestalt psychology has also been referred to as gestalt theory and the Max Wertheimer theory. The idea of the gestalt theory is that the mind can understand experiences as a whole and not just as a collection of different experiences. It has also been explained as the whole of anything is greater than its parts. This is why the theory is appropriately named gestalt, because gestalt is a German word that means unified whole. Wertheimer believes that the human mind has the capability to accumulate and maintain many different perceptions in a chaotic world. Wertheimer's theory has been become known as “ The laws of Max Wertheimer" and also as “ Gestalt laws of grouping.” Gestalt psyc.

The Self Concept
8thOctober 2013
Today, I attend the class which is about „Self Concept‟. It is a good opportunity for me in
getting to know more about myself at the center of my world through a small group activity
given in class. Through the activity I get the opportunity to know my classmates and also me
myself more in the abilities, traits, values and dreams. Besides, I learn to explain the behavior,
predicting the behavior as well as feelings about myself in the actions that I perform. It is
great to learn the new way of thinking and also the power of positive thinking which is
helpful to enhance one‟s self efficacy in achieving a greater healthy lifestyle andbigger dream.
At here, I have learnt the ways to let the happy step in and this helps to maintain a healthy
lifestyle with positive thinking.
3. The powers and perils of intuition
22thOctober 2013
Today is the refreshing day for me to attend another lesson. I am feeling excited in getting to
learn new things for growing more of my knowledge. Anyhow the class starts with “the
powers and perils of intuition” which explains as well as shows our thinking is partly
controlled and partly automatic. So, the controlled thinking carries reflective, deliberate and
conscious way of dealing with problems. However, the automatic thinking is trained to be the
way used to think from the start. It is impulsive, effortless and unconscious mental concepts
that intuitively guide our perception and interpretations to react naturally accordingly to the
situations. Through the lesson, I have learnt to look things in different ways such as one
problem can be solved in different ways with multiple solutions.
4. A Cross Cultural Study of the Affective Meanings of Color
5thNovember 2013
After the relaxing weekend, it starts to become busy again with workloads. However, it is still
a wonderful day to attend the class and today I get the opportunity to learn the interesting
thing which is the differences as well as meaning from the color representation in psychology.
Besides, I find the study of the affective meanings of color is interesting as it can help to
enhance a person healthy lifestyle. For example, the bright and right matching color can help
to bring up a person‟s with more positive thinking. This is helpful to enhance everyone
lifestyle living in the colorful world. At last, this is the great lesson that I have learnt which
helps me to decide the choice of colors in designs.
