The purpose of the study was to determine the major parenting styles and their influence on senior secondary school students’ social interaction in the area. The study made use of a sample of 1517 senior secondary class 2 students. It was an expost facto design with a structured questionnaire for data collection. The instrument was pre-tested to establish its validity and reliability. The results indicated that most parents seemed to adopt authoritative parenting style in their child rearing. The study showed that parenting styles have significant influence on students’ social interaction. It was inferred that authoritative parenting enables students to have positive self-concept, self assertuion, self reliance, understanding, and creativity that lead to high performance and social competence while other parenting styles lead to anti-social behaviour. Authoritative parenting style is therefore recommended to enhance students’ social interaction. Parents, students, school authorities and Government would benefit from the study.

ABSTRACT: This research investigated teachers' perceptions of the social environment in the classroom and
student performance in a sample of secondary schools in the Philippines' Municipality of Iba and Botolan,
Zambales, including Amungan National High School, San Agustin Integrated School, Jesus F. Magsaysay High
School, President Ramon Magsaysay State University-laboratory High School, Botolan National High School,
and Bancal Integrated School. One hundred fifty-five respondents were chosen at random, and the researcher
used the descriptive research design and questionnaire as the primary instruments to collect data. The school
received a "Very High" rating for promotion, retention, and cohort or survival rates but a "Very Low" rating for
failure and drop-out rates. There was a significant difference in the perception of the classroom social
environment as to classroom mastery goals, classroom performance goals, classroom social interaction,
classroom mutual respect, and classroom academic self-efficacy. There was a significant difference in the level
of school performance on student progress and development as to failure rate, drop-out rate, promotion rate,
retention rate, and cohort survival rate. There is a negligible relationship between the classroom social
environment and the school student progress and development level.Regarding classroom mastery goals,
classroom performance goals, classroom social interaction, classroom mutual respect, and classroom academic
self-efficacy, there was a significant difference in perception. Concerning the failure rate, drop-out rate,
promotion rate, retention rate, and cohort survival rate, there was a considerable variation in the level of school
performance. The social climate in the classroom has very little bearing on how well students are progressing
academically.

Dynamics of Deviant Behaviour on the Academic Participation of Early Adolesce...ijtsrd
Once students enter the school setting, their behaviors, interpersonal relations, and emotional adjustments contribute to their successful academic development. Positive school behaviors and interpersonal relations represent good adjustments in the school setting, whereas negative school behaviors and interpersonal relations represent poor school adjustments. The purpose of this study was to assess the influence of deviant behaviour on the academic achievement of early adolescents in the Limbe I Sub Division. This study used the descriptive survey as a design for the research study. The main instruments used were the questionnaire an interview and observation. Purposive sampling was adopted. Three secondary schools were selected. A pilot study was used on one school to improve on the clarity and relevance of the instruments. The study revealed that deviant behaviour has a very detrimental effect on academic achievement of students. Most teachers use corporal punishment as a means of managing deviant behaviour in schools. The teachers used exclusion as the last resort to pupils who have deviant behaviour. The Results also indicated that individual inattentive behaviors and classroom-level of externalizing behaviors negatively and significantly predicted academic performance three years later. Overall, results here confirmed the previous literature supporting the negative effects of inattentive behaviors and classroom-level externalizing behaviors on the students academic grades and achievement test scores. Therefore, indicators of deviant behavior (aggression, withdrawal and bullying) had an influence on the academic achievement of students with deviant behaviours. Recommendations were made to teachers, parents and other stakeholders to help curb deviant beaviours not just in schools but at home and in the community. Effects of students attitude towards teaching professionArul Sekar J.M.
The purpose of this study was to examine the interaction effects of gender and programs of study on attitudes of
postgraduate diploma in teaching (PGDT) students towards the teaching profession. The main aim of the study
was to find out whether there are any significant interaction effects of gender and programs of study of PGDT
students’ attitude towards the teaching profession. A descriptive survey was carried out among PGDT students
during the year 2016/2017 regular session with a population of 371 students. The survey was conducted between
science and non-science students in the department of teacher education at Mekelle University, Ethiopia. Using
a stratified random sampling method, 130 student-teachers were selected as samples for the study. A scale entitled
“attitude towards teaching profession” was developed and validated by the researchers based on established
procedures in the literature (Aliyu Musa and Ado Abdu Bichi, 2015). A scale contained 15 items to be scored on
the five-point Likert scale as Strongly Agree (SA), Agree (A), Neutral(N), Disagree (D) and Strongly Disagree
(SD) was used. The data analysis of descriptive statistics through quantitative analysis by computing SPSS 16.0
(Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) for Windows 10 was employed. Statistical techniques which include
percentage analysis for levels, mean, standard deviation, and two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were also
used for data analysis and interpretation. The findings of the two-way ANOVA demonstrated that there are no
significant interaction effects of gender and programs of study on attitude towards the teaching profession of
PGDT students. Correlation analysis of gender and programs of a study indicated that the student teachers’
attitude towards the teaching profession was positively related to gender and programs of study.
We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

Emotional, social, educational adjustment of higher secondary school students in relation to academic achievement
1. INTRODUCTION
The school is the major socialization institution for any
child. It is the child's first contact with the world outside the
house. For nearly 12 years, a child spends 5 to 7 hours a
day in the school. School is one of the most important
foundation pillars on which the child's personality
develops. Children learn proficiencies in various abilities
like learning process and homework, social
communications, handling emotion, and the
management of day-to-day interactions at home and
school (Raju & Rahamtulla, 2007).
In reality, the growing child is dependent on the
immediate environment, i.e. the house and the school
meet his growth needs. The concern, therefore extends to
how the school facilities can be enhanced and improved
to meet the growth needs of the children. Every individual
from the time he or she steps out of the family and goes to
school makes a long series of adjustments between the
whole unique personality and the environment. The
ardent desire of each boy and girl to become an
individual person having a healthy physique, a growing
intellectual ability, a greater degree of emotional poise
and increased participation in social groups, such
characteristics enhance one's personality (Singh, Tripathi
& Mahato, 2014). Even parents, teachers and other
significant members of the society to which the person
belongs will encourage this desire. According to C.V.
Good (1959), Adjustment is the process of finding and
adopting modes of behaviour suitable to the
environment or the changes in the environment (Mangal,
2002, p.490). It is the process by which a living organism
maintains a balance between its needs and the
circumstances that influence the satisfaction of these
needs. Thus Adjustment influences the achievement and
personality development of the students in school.

2. relation to their adjustment. The findings of the study
revealed that, a significant relationship exists between
adjustment and academic achievement of elementary
school students. It was also found that, a significant
relationship exists between adjustment and academic
achievement of both male and female elementary
school students. It was found that, the adjustment of
elementary school students is affected by gender.
Nidhi and Kermane (2015) studied the adjustment
problems of college students in relation to gender, socio-
economic status and academic achievement. The
findings of the study showed that, there was no significant
difference found in adjustment problems of high
academic achievement students and low academic
achievement students. There exists a negative
relationship between adjustment problems and
achievement.
Gill (2014) investigated a study on educational, social and
emotional adjustment of boys and girls of visual
handicapped students of a special school at Faridabad.
The findings show that, there was no significant difference
between educational adjustments of the special school
students belonging to boys and girls. There was no
significant difference between social adjustments of the
Special. There was no significant difference between the
emotional adjustments of special school students
belonging to boys and girls.
Yellaiah (2012) found that, adjustment and academic
achievement cause significant difference between male
and female student. Government and private school
students and rural and urban school students do not
cause a difference between adjustment and academic
achievement. It is also found that, there is a low positive
relationship between adjustment and academic
achievement.
Surekha (2008) points out that, a significant positive, high
correlation exists between academic achievement and
adjustment.
Significance of the Study
Adjustment can be interpreted as both process and the
outcome of that process in the form of some attainment
or achievement. When a poor child studies under the
street light owing to no electricity at his home, he is said to
be in the process of adjustment. What he attains in terms
of success in his examination or the fulfillment of his
ambition or pride in his achievement is the result of his self
and the environment. According to Darwin's theory of
evolution, those species which adapted successfully to
the demands of living, survived and multiplied while
others died out. So, the students who can adapt or adjust
to the needs of changing conditions can achieve high,
while others lead miserable lives or prove as a menace to
the society (Tambawal, 2010). So, the students should
change or modify themselves in some way or the other to
fit into or accommodate themselves to their environment.
But this present generation students lack the tendency of
adjustment and they don't know the value or importance
of adjustment with themselves and their environment.
There is a need for the study of adjustment level of the
students under these circumstances. Hence, the
researchers have decided to analyse these adjusment
levels in this study.
Operational Definition of Key Terms

maintains a balance between its needs and the
circumstances that influence the satisfaction of these
needs.
·Emotional Adjustment

Conclusion & Recommendations
From the present study, it is confirmed that, there is a low
positive relationship between emotional, social,
educational adjustments and adjustment of higher
secondary school students in relation to academic
achievement. These findings confirm the findings of
Mansingbhai & Yasvantbhai (2014), Yellaiah (2012) &
Kumar & Dhillon (2010).
The students studying from higher secondary schools are
in a need of some psychological support from their
parents as well as teachers. So, the parents and teachers
must give more guidance and supportive care to the
students who are in their school studies. All the higher
secondary schools must give importance to providing
counseling service to the students who are having
emotional and adjustment problems. A well trained
counselor should be appointed for giving guidance and
counseling services.
The schools must not give importance only to high
achievement of their students, but must give importance
to teaching to adjust with oneself and with their
environment. The schools must often conduct meetings
with the parents of the students and make them to know
about their child's status. The schools must maintain a
separate record for the students' behavior inside the
school and must find out the emotionally immature
students. This will help them to give counseling. All the
government schools must be modified with all the

Some of the enrichment programmes may be
conducted to improve the adjustment of the students with
their peer groups and with their family like street play,
group assignment, group learning, group dance and
other team works. Teachers are the greatest role model for
their students. So, at first the teacher must have high level
adjustment and emotional stability and must show their
students how to adjust with others.
