The European Language Portfolio (ELP) is a document that collects a student's language skills and abilities in speaking, writing, and understanding languages. The ELP aims to promote multilingualism and cultural interaction by facilitating the acquisition of language skills in several languages. It contains three components: a language passport describing competencies and experiences, a language biography of cultural experiences outside class, and a language dossier of student work samples. Key functions of the ELP include transparency in learning, self-reflection, responsibility for learning, and facilitating lifelong learning and mobility across Europe.
