The European Language Portfolio is a personal document with three parts that allows language learners to track their progress in different languages. It contains a dossier to store language samples, a self-assessment grid to track skill levels in listening, reading, speaking and writing, and a language passport. The portfolio was introduced to promote lifelong language learning, democratic citizenship in Europe, and educational and vocational mobility. It has been adopted across different age groups and education sectors in many Council of Europe member states.
