socialized society, education is the only
means. The main goal of education is to an
individual perfect. Every society gives
importance to education because it is the key
to solve many problems of life.

 Education was considered in the past as a
uni-polar process. Adams in his Book ‘Evolution
of Education Theory’ said that, education is a Bi-
polar process in which one personality acts upon
another to modify the development of other
personality.
 It considers that in the process of education two
people are involved. The one is an educator and
the other is educand. It was said that, the teacher
seeks the modification of the development not
only through imparting knowledge and skills but
also through the direct influences on the child’s
personality.

 प्राचीन काळी शिक्षणाला बहु- ध्रुवीय प्रशिया म्हांटले गेले
परांतु ॲडम्स याांनी त्ाांच्या "व्हॅल्युएिन ऑफ एज्युक
े िन
थेरी" या पुस्तकात असे म्हटले आहे की, शिक्षण ही शद्वध्रुवीय
प्रशिया आहे, ज्यात एक व्यक्ती िुसऱ्या व्यक्तीच्या
व्यक्तक्तमत्त्व शवकासावर प्रभाव टाकते व बिल घडवते.
 शिक्षणाच्या या प्रशियेत िनन व्यक्ती अांतभूित असतात.

 According to Adams, the bipolar education has two poles. At the
one end is the teacher and at the other end is the child. Both are
equally important in the process of education. If the teacher gives,
the child receives. If the teacher instructs, the child follows. Thus,
in the process of education, there is an interaction between the
teacher and child. The teacher tries to mould and modify the
behavior of the child so that the latter develops his personality to
the full. With the active cooperation of the teacher and child, the
process of education goes on smoothly and efficiently.
 The bipolarity of the educational process ceases to exist when the
educator and the educand both become one and the same person.
It also happens when the educand feels the drive to educate
himself when he tries to modify his own nature, develop his own
will and purpose, build his own character, acquires knowledge and
skills by his own efforts. In that case, education becomes unipolar.
It is then when the educational process achieves the main ideal.
Self-expression, self-motivation, self –improvement and self-
control become the keywords and bipolarity ceases to exist.

 ॲडम्स याांच्या नुसार, शद्व ध्रुवीय शिक्षण प्रशियेमध्ये िनन टनक
ां असतात.
एका टनकाला शिक्षक तर िुसऱ्या टनकाला शवद्याथी. िनन्ही या शिक्षण
प्रशियेमध्ये बरनबरीने महत्त्वपूणि असतात. जेव्हा शिक्षक ज्ञान िेतात तेव्हा
शवद्याथी ते ग्रहण करतात. जेव्हा शिक्षक सूचना िेतात तेव्हा शवद्याथी त्ाचे
पालन करतात. याप्रमाणे या शिक्षण प्रशियेत शवद्याथी आशण शिक्षकाांमध्ये
अांतरशिया घड
ू न येते. शिक्षक हे शवद्यार्थ्ाांच्या वतिनात बिल व सुधारणा
घडवून आणण्यासाठी प्रयत्न करतात ज्याद्वारे शवद्यार्थ्ाांच्या व्यक्तक्तमत्त्वाचा
शवकास पररपूणितेने हनऊ िकतन. िनघाांमधील सिीय सहकायािमुळे
शिक्षण प्रशिया अशधक सहज आशण प्रभावीपणे घड
ू न येते.
 जेव्हा शिक्षक आशण शवद्याथी हे एकच व्यक्ती हनतात यावेळी ही प्रशिया
बांि हनते. जेव्हा शवद्याथी स्वतः आपल्या स्वतःच्या स्वभावात, आपल्या
उद्देि व इच्ाांमधील शवकासात, स्वतःच्या चररत्र शनशमितीत व कौिल्य
प्राप्तीसाठी स्वतः प्रयत्न करतन तेव्हा शद्व ध्रुवीय शिक्षण प्रशिया ही बांि
हनते. व ह्या शिक्षण प्रशियेस बहु- ध्रुवीय प्रशिया म्हांटले जाते. यात प्रमुख
प्राप्ती ही आिििता, आत्मशवष्कार, स्वयांप्रेरणा, स्वयम शसद्धता व स्वयम
शनयांत्रण हे कळीचे मुद्दे ठरतात तेव्हा शह शद्वधृवीय प्रशिया समाप्त हनते.

 The educational process not only has a psychological side
involving the educator and the educand, but it also has
sociological aspects too.
 According to John Dewey, education has two aspects (1)
Psychological and (2) Sociological. He asserts that the
development of a child does not take place in a vacuum. He has
to live in and for the society, he belongs to. It takes place in and
through the society in which the teacher and child both lives.
True education comes through the stimulation of the educand’s
endowments by the demands of the social situation in which
he/she finds themselves in. The educator is required to stimulate
the educand’s power in the total social setting. It is the society
which will determine the aims, contents and method of teaching.
Thus, the Social aspects of educational process become more
important than the psychological aspects. The function of the
educator becomes then the modification of the personality of the
educand in light of the need of the society. In this Sense, John
Dewey holds, education is a tri-polar process and not a bipolar
one.

े वळ मानसिास्त्रीय अांग अांतभूित नसून शिक्षक
आशण शवद्यार्थ्ाांबरनबरच सामाशजक घटक ही अत्ांत महत्त्वपूणि आहेत.
 जॉन ड्युई या कायिवािाच्या तत्त्ववेत्त्यानुसार शिक्षणामध्ये िनन घटक
महत्त्वपूणि आहेत. एक. मानसिास्त्रीय आशण िनन. समाजिास्त्रीय. जॉन
ड्युईच्या मतानुसार शवद्यार्थ्ाांचा शवकास हा ररकाम्या जागेमध्ये हनत नसून
समाजामध्ये त्ाला जगावे लागते. तन समाजाचा एक घटक आहे.
शिक्षणाची प्रशिया ही समाजामध्ये घड
ू न येते आशण या समाजाचे शिक्षक
व शवद्याथी हे िनन्ही घटक असतात. सामाशजक पररक्तथथतीनुसार
शवद्यार्थ्ािला त्ाच्या गरजेनुसार शवशवध उद्दीपका द्वारे प्रेररत क
े ले जाते, व
शिक्षकाच्या द्वारे शवद्यार्थ्ाांची शवकसनिील िक्तीही समाजाच्या
उपलब्धतेनुसार उद्दीशपत क
े ली जाते. अध्यापनाच्या पद्धती, शवषय घटक,
ध्येये ही समाजा मध्येच प्राप्त करता येतात म्हणून सामाशजक घटक हा
शिक्षण प्रशियेतील महत्त्वपूणि घटक आहे, असे जॉन ड्युई मानतन.
सामाशजक वातावरणा मुळे च व्यक्तक्तमत्त्वातील शवकास, वतिनातील
अपेशक्षत बिल ही समाजाची एक गरज ठरते आहे. याशिवाय सामाशजक
पयािवरणामुळे शिक्षण प्रशिया अशधक शवश्वसनीय व प्रभावी बनते आहे.

  • 7.  ॲडम्स याांच्या नुसार, शद्व ध्रुवीय शिक्षण प्रशियेमध्ये िनन टनक ां असतात. एका टनकाला शिक्षक तर िुसऱ्या टनकाला शवद्याथी. िनन्ही या शिक्षण प्रशियेमध्ये बरनबरीने महत्त्वपूणि असतात. जेव्हा शिक्षक ज्ञान िेतात तेव्हा शवद्याथी ते ग्रहण करतात. जेव्हा शिक्षक सूचना िेतात तेव्हा शवद्याथी त्ाचे पालन करतात. याप्रमाणे या शिक्षण प्रशियेत शवद्याथी आशण शिक्षकाांमध्ये अांतरशिया घड ू न येते. शिक्षक हे शवद्यार्थ्ाांच्या वतिनात बिल व सुधारणा घडवून आणण्यासाठी प्रयत्न करतात ज्याद्वारे शवद्यार्थ्ाांच्या व्यक्तक्तमत्त्वाचा शवकास पररपूणितेने हनऊ िकतन. िनघाांमधील सिीय सहकायािमुळे शिक्षण प्रशिया अशधक सहज आशण प्रभावीपणे घड ू न येते.  जेव्हा शिक्षक आशण शवद्याथी हे एकच व्यक्ती हनतात यावेळी ही प्रशिया बांि हनते. जेव्हा शवद्याथी स्वतः आपल्या स्वतःच्या स्वभावात, आपल्या उद्देि व इच्ाांमधील शवकासात, स्वतःच्या चररत्र शनशमितीत व कौिल्य प्राप्तीसाठी स्वतः प्रयत्न करतन तेव्हा शद्व ध्रुवीय शिक्षण प्रशिया ही बांि हनते. व ह्या शिक्षण प्रशियेस बहु- ध्रुवीय प्रशिया म्हांटले जाते. यात प्रमुख प्राप्ती ही आिििता, आत्मशवष्कार, स्वयांप्रेरणा, स्वयम शसद्धता व स्वयम शनयांत्रण हे कळीचे मुद्दे ठरतात तेव्हा शह शद्वधृवीय प्रशिया समाप्त हनते. 2/5/2024 Prof. Dr. Makarand Joshi
  • 8.  The educational process not only has a psychological side involving the educator and the educand, but it also has sociological aspects too.  According to John Dewey, education has two aspects (1) Psychological and (2) Sociological. He asserts that the development of a child does not take place in a vacuum. He has to live in and for the society, he belongs to. It takes place in and through the society in which the teacher and child both lives. True education comes through the stimulation of the educand’s endowments by the demands of the social situation in which he/she finds themselves in. The educator is required to stimulate the educand’s power in the total social setting. It is the society which will determine the aims, contents and method of teaching. Thus, the Social aspects of educational process become more important than the psychological aspects. The function of the educator becomes then the modification of the personality of the educand in light of the need of the society.   • 9.  िैक्षशणक प्रशियेत क े वळ मानसिास्त्रीय अांग अांतभूित नसून शिक्षक आशण शवद्यार्थ्ाांबरनबरच सामाशजक घटक ही अत्ांत महत्त्वपूणि आहेत.  जॉन ड्युई या कायिवािाच्या तत्त्ववेत्त्यानुसार शिक्षणामध्ये िनन घटक महत्त्वपूणि आहेत. एक. मानसिास्त्रीय आशण िनन. समाजिास्त्रीय. जॉन ड्युईच्या मतानुसार शवद्यार्थ्ाांचा शवकास हा ररकाम्या जागेमध्ये हनत नसून समाजामध्ये त्ाला जगावे लागते. तन समाजाचा एक घटक आहे. शिक्षणाची प्रशिया ही समाजामध्ये घड ू न येते आशण या समाजाचे शिक्षक व शवद्याथी हे िनन्ही घटक असतात. सामाशजक पररक्तथथतीनुसार शवद्यार्थ्ािला त्ाच्या गरजेनुसार शवशवध उद्दीपका द्वारे प्रेररत क े ले जाते, व शिक्षकाच्या द्वारे शवद्यार्थ्ाांची शवकसनिील िक्तीही समाजाच्या उपलब्धतेनुसार उद्दीशपत क े ली जाते. अध्यापनाच्या पद्धती, शवषय घटक, ध्येये ही समाजा मध्येच प्राप्त करता येतात म्हणून सामाशजक घटक हा शिक्षण प्रशियेतील महत्त्वपूणि घटक आहे, असे जॉन ड्युई मानतन. सामाशजक वातावरणा मुळे च व्यक्तक्तमत्त्वातील शवकास, वतिनातील अपेशक्षत बिल ही समाजाची एक गरज ठरते आहे. याशिवाय सामाशजक पयािवरणामुळे शिक्षण प्रशिया अशधक शवश्वसनीय व प्रभावी बनते आहे. 2/5/2024 Prof. Dr. Makarand Joshi
