MEANING OF
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
• the branch of practical philosophy concerned with the
nature of education, as well as the philosophical issues
that can arise from educational theory and practice.
MEANING OF EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
• a way not only of looking at ideas, but also of learning
how to use ideas in better ways (Ozman & Craver, 1999)
• refers to a person's beliefs and values about education
and serves as the foundtation for his/her practice of
his/her profession.

The scope of philosophy of education is concerned with the problems
of education.These problems mainly include -
• Interpretation of human nature, the world and the universe and their
relation with man.
• Interpretation of aims and ideals of education.
• The relationship of various components of the system of education.
• Relationship of education and various areas of national life
(economic systm, political order, social progress, cultural
reconstructions, etc)
• Educational values
• Theory of knowledge and its relationship to education

IMPORTANCE OF
EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
"Philosophy enters into very important
decision about curriculum, teaching,
instruction and testing. The methods and
materials a teacher chooses to use in a
classroom reflects ... philosophy. In short,
choices reflect philosophy - and wether we
recognize our own philosophy in education,
it is out there and it influences uur behavior
and attitudes in classrooms and schools."

IMPORTANCE OF EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
it is important to be aware of your own educational
philosophy since it helps you focus on why you make the
decisions which you make when you plan for your lessons
and implement these lessons. Through the wiriting of your
own goals and values. Your Educational Philosophy is a
description of your goals and beliefs as a teacher. There
really is no such things as "the" philosophy; our philosophies
are a reflection of our own beliefs, expriences and training.

  • 3. • the branch of practical philosophy concerned with the nature of education, as well as the philosophical issues that can arise from educational theory and practice. MEANING OF EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY • a way not only of looking at ideas, but also of learning how to use ideas in better ways (Ozman & Craver, 1999) • refers to a person's beliefs and values about education and serves as the foundtation for his/her practice of his/her profession.

There really is no such things as "the" philosophy; our philosophies are a reflection of our own beliefs, expriences and training.
