Edu Daan is a student-led movement in Bangalore, India that aims to support underprivileged children in government schools. As part of Edu Daan, students from participating schools collect minimum donations of 10 rupees from 10 people using collection boxes. The donations are used to assess needs and fund infrastructure projects, teacher development, scholarships, and water/sanitation/hygiene initiatives at nearby government schools. The goal is to forge relationships between students from different socioeconomic backgrounds and empower underserved children through education. Edu Daan launched in October 2015 during India's Festival of Giving.

2. WHAT IS EDU DAAN
- Edu Daan is a Student driven
movement to support lesser
privileged children studying in
Government Schools at
Bangalore, Karnataka (India).
- This is a unique opportunity to
participate in a revolution of
young persons who grasp
empathy and practice it.

3. HOW DOES A STUDENT
PARTICIPATE IN EDU DAAN
- As a student of a participating
school, each child will reach
out to his/her family,
neighbours, relatives, etc. and
collect a minimum of Rs.10
from 10 individuals using a
specially crafted Hundi
(Collection Box) that are
provided to them (free of cost).

4. WHO IS THE BENEFICIARY
AND THE BENEFACTOR
- The students of participating
schools, will do a needs
analysis of the requirements of
the nearby Government school
and will facilitate the rollout of
the intervention apart from
following up and ensuring the
state of affairs at the
Government School, change
for the better.
- Thus forging a relationship
between students from two
diverse socio economic
groups.

5. WHERE IS THIS BEING
DONE IN BANGALORE
- In instances where your
institution is already involved
with a Government school, the
school can enhance the
support provided to the nearby
Government School. However,
if there aren't any schools that
your institution is already
working with, we will make
available a list of schools - with
validated data about their
needs, which can be further
revalidated by the students of
the participating school.

6. WHY SHOULD ONE
SUPPORT EDU DAAN
- The funds collected could be
matched by participating
corporates, thus doubling the
contribution made by each
individual and could further be
matched by Round Table India
for interventions being made on
Civil Infrastructure at the
Government School premises.
- The funds collected will be
used in the following areas:
- Infrastructure
- Teacher Developments
- Scholarships
- WASH - Water, Sanitation
and Hygiene

THE ROLLOUT

movement beginning this Daan
Utsav - India’s Festival of
Giving (between 2nd October
2015 to 8th October 2015)
