Michael analyzed his recreation of an original portrait image. [1] His version was taken in landscape instead of portrait and had different lighting.[2] The model did not smile the same and was wearing different clothes than the original.[3] With more time, he would have worked on recreating the lighting, smile, and outfit more accurately.

My version of this image task 7
Original My version
Both images a roughly alike each other both people in the
image have the same sort of colour and style hair so that
they slightly the same.
The main problem with my recreation is that the picture was taken in landscape instead of in
portrait like the original image.
I think that the lighting in each picture is slightly different as my version has a bit more light in the
background which differs from the original where all the light is mainly focused on his face.
They are both wearing dark coloured clothes as well which shows that the picture has a bit more
meaning than just happy which is shown by his smile but the dark shirt shows that there is more
emotion and depressed feelings in the picture, but in my image the model didn’t smile the same as
the original.
Also I think that the images would look a bit more similar if the model in my image had
taken his jacket and tie off that way it would look more similar to the original even
though that his shirt is a different colour it make work better than if he had his tie and
jacket on.
Also my version was edited to make the models head lean the correct way as I had to flip the model
and change the background of the image, most of the background I drew by hand and I used the
spot healing tool to change some of the background, I also used the paint tool so that I
could add in some of the background detail most of the windows I drew if you look
closely then you can see when it goes from the original image to the drawn part.
If I was to do this task again I would make sure that the model was in the exact right
place and make sure that he is smiling so it looks more like the original image also if I had more time
to work on this image I would make the model wear a dark shirt instead of a school uniform, also I

would work on the lighting and make all the light focus on the models face instead of a lot of it in the
background.
Where I had flipped the model over to make him lean the correct way I realised that the shadows on
his face are on the wrong side as the wall side is dark but his face is bright and on the light side his
face is in the shadows so if I was to do this again I would make sure that the model was leaning the
correct way in the first place.
I used the black and white adjustments to get the black and white effect that is in the original image
which gives the image more meaning and more depth with emotions which isn’t exactly shown with
coloured bright images.
The main thing that I don’t like in this image is that the model isn’t smiling exactly the same as the
original image which makes the image look less happy which was in the original image with the
emotions of happy and sad.
The main thing that I like about this image was the fact that both models pretty much look the same
so that both images sink in with each other and I think that it was quite a good recreation of this
image even though it was quite difficult to do this picture especially with the editing that I did.
Also if I was to do this image again I would try and get more focus in on the models face just like the
original image it is more on the face than the background which isn’t the case with my image. As
well I would try and get the top of the models head in like in the original image this would have been
helped if I had taken the image in portrait instead of landscape.
I think it make have worked better if I used place that recreated the background more as well and
the if I had used a wall that is in a slightly less lit place it may have made the image look slightly
better than what it is now.
