The document discusses the development of a digipak and magazine advertisement for a band called Polar. It describes how the creator researched typical digipak sizes, edited images from a music video shoot to use on the covers, and manipulated the designs in Photoshop. Different cover concepts were tried before settling on a silhouette image of the band. Design elements like track listings, gradients, and copyright info were added. Continuity was maintained across the digipak interior, back cover, and advert through consistent use of images, colors, and fonts.
June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. I conducted further research of what the
typical size of a digipak is. So, from my
research I found out that the width is
139mm and the height is 125.5mm, so I
inserted these measurements into Photoshop
before I started creating my digipak, as it
was very important to get them right before
I start anything else.
3. I decided to use this still image from my music video to
show the clear link between both the ancillary and the
music video. Also, the fact that there is an overlay of
Sonam, it links to our main song ‘Paradise’ which makes
it look very creative. However, the image is quality is
not very good, so I decided to take another image of the
artist and edit it myself on Photoshop. One problem I had
is during the filming I didn’t take any pictures which
made it very difficult to work with while editing. So, I
had to go back to Ladbroke Grove and take a picture of
that colourful wall and some of the graffiti in that
location where we shot our music video. I wasn’t able to
take the actor with me back there, so I had to Photoshop
his face and add an overlay of Sonam
4. After I manipulated the image, I wanted
to keep my front cover simple and I
didn’t want to add anything else other
than the main song in the album which
is ‘Paradise’ and the band logo which
is very important. However, I
manipulated the logo by removing the
black circle as I thought it doesn’t
work very well with my front cover.
Moreover, I left Paradise in the same
colours and font to stick to the house
style of my product.
5. I then I thought that ‘Paradise’ didn’t stand out
on the colourful background, So I moved it and
placed it on the artists clothing to make it stand
out more. I also added a side bone in black and
also added the name of the album. Moreover, one of
the reasons I only used an image of just the
artist is because I wanted this specific album, I
wanted to aim it at this artist. I’ve seen this on
One Direction’s digipak where they have specific
digipak’s aimed at one artist even though it is a
band. I could even create two more front covers to
for the other two band members similar to One
Direction.
6. I then changed my mind from using that
image as the front cover, so I decided
to use an image of all the band
members of ‘Polar’ which I think is
more effective and creative as I
wanted to add a silhouette effect on
it where you wont be able to see their
faces but only the outline. I also
think it fits in very well with the
pop-rock genre and fits in very well
with my music video. The fact that the
logo is also in black looks like there
is a silhouette effect on it as well
which looks very creative. Also, the
title of the song ‘Paradise’ stands
out as it is colourful and makes it
more live.
7. Similar to Coldplay’s back cover, they have the track list in the middle and the
names of the songs in colourful. So, on Photoshop I added a gradient on the text
which has the song name. Moreover, I think that it fits to my house style and the
fact that the album title is also in colourful and shows continuity in my work. I
also included a graffiti image on the background which is where we shot our music
video and where the band members come from similar to Rudimental’s digipak.
8. I then changed the shape from a hexagon
to a circle as I thought it fits in with
the genre more and with the logo. The
font I’ve used is Impact and added a
gradient effect for the track list which
is the same font and colours used as the
title and to stick to my house style.
Moreover, I placed the copyright and
barcode information on the side. One of
the reasons I have the name of the song
in Arabic is because in Coldplay’s ‘A
Head Full Of Dreams’ digipak they’ve
done the same but in Indian, due to the
fact to make it more well known
internationally and reach a wider
audience, which is the reason I have
included this feature which I thought is
very creative and clever.
9. Moreover, I also had to create the inside of the digipak where it will include the CD
and an image inside which is a typical code and convention of digipaks.
10. On the inside of the digipak, I decided to use the same image as the front cover due to
the fact that I used a silhouette effect on it and it is better for the audience to
when they purchase the CD, they will be able to see the original image of the band.
11. Moreover, to keep the same house
style throughout my digipak I used
the same graffiti image as the
back cover, for the inside of the
digipak. I kept the CD very simple
as I only included the album name,
logo and copyright information
which is a main code and
convention.
12.
13. For the magazine advert, I used the same image as
the front cover to keep the link between the
digipak and the advert which is very important to
make it more noticeable. Moreover, I included
extra information such as the date of release, the
band website (if they want to find out more
information about the album they can check out the
website), the Itunes icon to inform the audience
that it is also available on Itunes, and the
Parlophone logo for legal requirements. I used the
same colour scheme and fonts throughout which
makes my product look very professional.
