Understanding software licensing with IBM Power Systems PowerVM virtualizationJay Kruemcke
One of the key benefits of combining workloads in a virtualized environment is the ability to pay for less than the full capacity of the machine. Unfortunately there are many misconceptions about how software licensing really works in these environments.
The IBM Power Systems PowerVM virtualization technology offers a great deal of flexibility, but that flexibility also results in complexity when determining software license requirements. This presentation covers important licensing considerations for the IBM Power Systems environment.

Join technology experts Lee Bushen and Patrick Irwin as they discuss and demonstrate a step-by-step move from XenApp 6.5 to XenApp 7.6. With this live demo, we’ll take a user-centric approach and transition across to a new XenApp 7.6 environment with minimal disruption and retraining. We’ll be showing best-practice methods such as consolidating your old and new system with StoreFront, testing for application compatibility with AppDNA and upgrading a server live into the new XenDesktop 7.6 system.
One of the biggest issues for a developer – whether they are an engineer at an OEM or working for a mobile AI application startup – is that their apps are at the mercy of pre-set power and performance settings as defined by OEMs or Silicon vendors. So how can a developer break through that barrier when it seems their hands are tied behind their backs? The Snapdragon Power Optimization SDK allows developers to control the CPU and GPU frequency much more finely from their own application logic. This provides developers with more control within the bounds of the power/thermal framework.
Learn about IBM PowerVM Virtualization Technology on IBM POWER7 Systems. This technical white paper presents benchmark results showing greater VM consolidation ratios than demonstrated in previous benchmarks and demonstrating the extent of the performance lead that PowerVM virtualization technologies deliver over x86-based add-on virtualization products. Virtualization products partition physical servers in multiple virtual machines. Each virtual machine represents a complete system, with processors, memory, networking, storage and BIOS.
Multiple virtual machines can share physical resources and run side by side on the same server.
Operating systems and applications can run unmodified in virtual machines.
This Rowe and Company presentation explores Avid Technology's newsroom computer system workflow and Avid's workgroups workflow and how the two separate databases affect broadcast news production.

Media Content Ingest, Storage, and Archiving with AWS (MED301) | AWS re:Inven...Amazon Web Services
The first step in a successful cloud-based media workflow is getting the content transferred and stored. From there you can achieve massive efficiencies for downstream processing and delivery via content access instead of content transfer. In this session you'll learn about best practices for ingesting content to the cloud; relevant AWS partners within the media ecosystem; how to use storage tiers based on the business value of your assets; and how to eliminate tape, tape museums, and tech refresh within your long term archive strategy; and ultimately how to remonetize archived assets.
Storage is the most clear requirement for digital media. The AWS Cloud has customized solutions that cater to digital media storage, and present an array of options to ingest, store and move digital media, using the Cloud as a transport and storage mechanism.
Erik Durand, the Principal Business Development Manager for AWS Storage, takes us on this analysis of the options, benefits and characteristics of each one.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).

Connector Corner: Automate dynamic content and events by pushing a buttonDianaGray10
Here is something new! In our next Connector Corner webinar, we will demonstrate how you can use a single workflow to:
Create a campaign using Mailchimp with merge tags/fields
Send an interactive Slack channel message (using buttons)
Have the message received by managers and peers along with a test email for review
But there’s more:
In a second workflow supporting the same use case, you’ll see:
Your campaign sent to target colleagues for approval
If the “Approve” button is clicked, a Jira/Zendesk ticket is created for the marketing design team
But—if the “Reject” button is pushed, colleagues will be alerted via Slack message
Join us to learn more about this new, human-in-the-loop capability, brought to you by Integration Service connectors.
