Ecosystems are composed of habitats that provide living things with everything they need to survive. Within an ecosystem, populations made up of the same type of living thing and communities of different populations interact and depend on one another through food chains, with producers making their own food, consumers eating other organisms, and decomposers breaking down dead remains.
