This document introduces an Excel-based planning workbench called EBS Plan ViewerTM that aims to address limitations of Oracle's native planning tools. It connects directly to an Oracle Advanced Planning database to provide planners with configurable reports and dashboards in a familiar Excel interface. Feedback from early users indicates the most useful features are the ability to easily view horizontal plans, access planning data through Excel, include dollar value metrics, and perform critical path analysis. Implementation is claimed to take less than a week, much faster than traditional approaches of exporting data to Excel. The tool brings the best of Oracle's planning engine and Excel's usability together into a single solution for planners.
