The document describes the layers that make up the Earth. It is divided into 3 basic layers: the crust, mantle, and core. The crust is the outermost layer and varies in thickness, being thinnest under the oceans. Below the crust is the mantle, which is the largest layer and is divided into upper and lower sections. Within the mantle is the Mohorovicic discontinuity. The core, located deepest inside the Earth, has an outer liquid layer made of iron and an inner solid layer of iron and nickel.
