Study Habit in Remote Learning Education: A Basis for Teachers Modern Pedagog...IJAEMSJORNAL
According to the study of Korir, D. and Kipkemboi F. (2014), School as a second home has a solid relationship to the academic performance of the students. However, because of the pandemic, home seems to become the second School of the students, affecting their study habits. Thus, this study was conducted to determine the factors that affect the students' study habits at the tertiary level using remote learning mode of education. The study used a descriptive-quantitative research design, and a self-made questionnaire is a primary tool in gathering data. Simple statistical tools were used to interpret the data. A total of 375 students from Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology – San Isidro Campus, San Isidro Nueva Ecija, Philippines 3106 are the study respondents. The results show that students used their free time to study, and most of them use 2 hours and above to study, which shows why most students are able to cope with the current education model. It also shows that the students' environment dramatically affects the study habits of the students, thus, another reason why most students are struggling to survive in their online/remote learning mode of education.

This study intends to explore the current trends in the field of distance education research catalogued in Web of Science (WoS) database during 1980-2016. Mainly bibliographic description and social network analysis was employed to investigate the structure and patterns of information exchanged within the field of distance education research and also to interpret the interrelationship between keywords indicated in these articles. A total of 500 most cited articles (out of 6,141 relevant to the topic) were reviewed to examine the impact of factors such as journal DOI and keywords on the number of citations that they received. We also identified major trends in distance education literature including variation across publication and citation year, top ranking of institutions and top ranking of published papers based on authors, subject area and co-authorship collaboration between countries. Our results show that the most cited articles are from two institutions of United States and United Kingdom and the most prolific years in terms of number of published articles and citations are 2013.We also found non-significant and very small correlation between the number of citation and DOI number of the journals. Our study serves as a resource for future studies by indicating how trends in distance education research have gradually developed over time and demonstrating the characteristics of the most cited articles in this literature.

ABSTRACT
Offering many advantages to adult learners, e-Learning is now being recognized - and preferred - by more and more
people, resulting in an increased number of distance learners in recent years. Numerous research studies focus on learner
preferences for online learning, with most converging around the individual characteristics and differences, if not the
features of the technology and pedagogy used. For Turkey, the situation is also similar, with the number of adult learners
who prefer online learning increasing each year due to several reasons. The result of this is an increase in the number of
online programs offered by many universities. Hence, this research study has been conducted to reveal the prevailing
factors causing learners to choose online learning. Through this qualitative research regarding online learners in a state
university, it is found that having a full time job, accessibility and flexibility, individual responsibility, effective time
management, physical distance, institutional prestige, disability are the common factors for under graduate and graduate
learners in their preference for online learning. Awareness of these factors can support the stakeholders while designing
e-Learning from both technological and pedagogical points of view.

Offering many advantages to adult learners, e-Learning is now being recognized - and preferred - by more
and more people, resulting in an increased number of distance learners in recent years. Emphasizing that
distance education has a bright and promising future, Zawacki-Richter and Naidu (2016) stress that, “In fact,
there has never been a better time to be in the field of open, flexible, distance and online education than
now!” (p. 20).
The commonly discussed factors that make online learning attractive for adults are: independence from
time and place; accessibility, and; economic reasons. With the MOOC movement, extremely high quality
online courses are now being delivered to learners by many well-known universities. Moreover, many
universities are either providing online programs or courses as a support to traditional instruction, in the form
of blended learning, flipped classes, etc. Indeed, there are almost no universities left who don’t benefit from
these advantages of technology usage and its support in teaching-learning processes.
A variety of reasons might account for these learning preferences. Çağlar and Turgut (2014) attempted to
identify the effective factors for the e-learning preferences of university students; they concluded that,
“Efficient usage of time and reduced educational expenses were found to be on top of the list as the most
valued advantages of e-learning” (p. 46). ...
EFL STUDENTS’ PERCEPTIONS TOWARDS THE USE OF E-LEARNINGAJHSSR Journal
ABSTRACT: In the era of digital development, electronic learning (e-learning) has been widely employed in
varied fields, including education. Specifically, e-learning has been used as one of the means of instruction and
interaction between lecturers and students in many educational institutions. A quantitative research method was
used to explore the perceptions of 60 students pursuing an English major at a university in the Mekong Delta
towards the use of e-learning for their study. Four main aspects of e-learning were examined, including
perceived usefulness, perceived self-efficacy of using the e-learning system, perceived ease of use, and
behavioral intention. The quantitative data were collected through an online questionnaire. The results showed
that students express a positive perception towards the e-learning system and the most noticeable outcome is
that e-learning gives them the flexibility and the use of online materials for their self-study. Students expressed
their confidence and skills in using the e-learning system. Nevertheless, it is proposed that there should be more
training sessions and instructions on how to find information and interact through the e-learning system
effectively so that their learning performance is enhanced. Recommendations are made to universities, lecturers,
and students to make the e-learning process more successful.

Fuzzy Measurement of University Students Importance Indexes by Using Analytic...IRJESJOURNAL
Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to apply a Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process model FAHP for estimating students' importance indexes problem, where the measures of students' attitudes and responses are often uncertain or difficult to determine by using non-fuzzy model. Fuzzy set theory treats a kind of uncertainty called fuzziness. It shows that the boundary of “yes” or “no” is ambiguous and appears in the meaning of words or included in the subjunctives or recognition of human beings. Design/methodology/approach: This paper adapts FAHP to analysis students' satisfaction for the services submitted by the university to enhance learning process and circumstance environment for students, this area of researches is still out of university importance. For the purposes of the survey, questionnaires were designed for all the factors which are affecting in students' satisfaction and most probably all these factors are taken according to their suitable priority. There were five main criterions in the questionnaires. Criterion one focuses on administrative university services Si, the second criterion concentrate with teaching and learning process Ti, while the third criterion is university climate and student activities Ai, the fourth criterion covers the administrative facilities Fi, and the fifth criterion is learning facilities students Li, were asked to measure their perceived experiences with those criterions. Each criterion contains some of sub criteria. Findings: The results illustrate that the quality of teachers T1, Opportunities for recreational activities A1, fair evaluation for students T6, and remedial support A3 are the most important indexes for students. The proposed model would help decision-makers to enhancement the quality of the services and may be adding other facility to make the university more attractive. Research limitations/implications: This paper makes some assumptions such as the number of sample are taken from seven colleges only and not cover all colleges in the university and concentrated about the final levels. Originality/value: This paper introduces fuzzy theory with AHP approach to the research of university services as customers in public firms and it has reached some valuable conclusions, which has opened up a new field of study in the universities services area

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

1. INTRODUCTION
The online databases are changing library usage patterns; management libraries are spending an
increasing percentage of their collections budgets on online databases. The impact of altered usage patterns
and increasing expenditures by management libraries on electronic services has heightened interest among
scientific libraries to measure online databases usage. While there are many online databases and tools
available to management students to support them updating their professional practice, factors limiting
access have been identified. This paper examines the methodology and results from patron use survey of online
databases by Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) students of Institute for Financial management
and Research (IFMR), Chennai.
Statement of the Problem : Current practices related to online databases have always been of great challenge
to librarians throughout the world. Management Libraries have to develop a well balanced document collection
to meet the needs of present and future requirements of the users. It is possible only when the acquisition is
planned. All business management libraries have experienced a tremendous shift in content from print to
electronic. The need felt that to know the same to study in depth on online databases current practices with
particular reference to Institute for Financial management and Research (IFMR), Chennai.
Scope of the Study : The study focuses on the use of online databases by first and second year students of
PGDM of IFMR B-School, Chennai. H.T.Parekh Library has a central role in the academic programmes and
helps the B-School and IFMR research centers to fulfill its mandate in teaching and learning by creating an
appropriate study and research environment. The Library provides the information infrastructure necessary for
the students' learning and research needs, and thereby contributing to positive graduate outcomes. Consequently,
this study will be carried out within the H.T. Parekh Library, IFMR, Chennai and the respondents of interest to
the study will be first and second year students of PGDM of IFMR School.
Literature Review : Many studies over the last decade show that the adoption rate for online databases, the
viability of alternatives to the traditional print or electronic peer-reviewed journal system and the pace of
change vary considerably by field. There exist a number of studies on the use of online database resources,
but this is the first of its kind within the Business management schools in Chennai. Libraries early
recognized that electronic journal design was key to their acceptance and engaged in numerous studies to
determine effective design elements. Olsen (1994) interviewed novice academic electronic journal users and
identified essential functions of print journals that electronic versions should duplicate. Stewart (1996)
interviewed chemists about their satisfaction with electronic journal performance of functions such as browsing
and portability.

Woodward et al. (1998) utilized a structured questionnaire to elucidate master’s degree students’
perceptions of the quality, ease of access and navigation, and advantages and disadvantages of electronic
journals in the Commercial and Free Electronic Journal User Study. Wright et al. (2001) surveyed physicians'
attitudes toward electronic journals and determined that while nearly 80% of respondents believed electronic
journals would decrease office clutter and facilitate location of useful articles, 74% were concerned about
losing the convenient readability and portability of print journals.More recent studies examining the impact of
remote access to full-text journals showed similar trends. Several studies have found print journal usage in
academic libraries has decreased significantly since the introduction of online journals.
Objectives
The following objectives have been setup for the investigation:
[1] To investigate the Knowledge and Sources through which online databases are known by Business
Students.
[2] To know the students opinion about Online Databases
[3] To assess the Pattern of using online databases by the students
[4] To identify the problems faced while accessing and using online databases by the students
[5] To obtain the opinions of the students on the necessity of training for the effective use of online databases
II. METHODOLOGY
The survey method has been employed and online questionnaire tool was used for collecting the data,
supplemented with the observation method. The data collected through online questionnaire and sent to all the
first and second year students through email along with a request letter explaining the importance and purpose
of the study. The total population of the study consists of 239 students and they were given questionnaires.
However, in spite of all sincere efforts the investigator received responses from first year 111(48.89%) filled
questionnaires and 116 (51.10 %) from the second year students, total is 227 (94.97%) respondents.

III. SUMMARY AND CONCLUSIONS
This study was designed to assess the use pattern of online databases by Post Graduate Diploma in
Management (PGDM) students of Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), Chennai. It
focused on the following: Awareness, knowledge and utilization of online databases by the management
students, users skills in handling the databases; to reveal of the factors which influence the effective use of
online databases; problems faced by the respondents and the provide the effective training to the problems
encountered. There is a huge awareness and knowledge of the online databases. But they are not getting as much
as they would be form the library and therefore suggested the establishment of library/information centre for the
users’ group like the law students’ section in the library to adequately cater for them as well as reduction of the
cost of assessing information sources. This they posit as a key strategies for improving their access to
information. The information search by this users’ group is predominantly dominated by their coursework
activities. They considered lectures, internet, textbooks, journals, seminars/workshops/conferences as well as
libraries and colleagues are more significant than information centres and research reports. The findings
questioned the rationale of student access denial to bookshelves to browse for materials. For whatsoever reason,
it is their responsibility to design flexible human interface with their customers as well as making sure those
material are remained intact without any damage.
