• As per requirement of Malaysia Qualification
Agency (MQA), the student attendance record is to
be mandatory taken every time class is conducted
by the lecturer
• Due to Covid-19 pandemic and Movement Control
Order (MCO), all educational institution have move
to use an online teaching method to continue
teaching the students
• The problem with online learning is that some
students with a very poor Internet connection
having a delay in their line and not be able to
answer the lecturer calling.
• An innovation project has been suggested by
developing a new method of information gathering
in recording a student attendance. The new method
suggested is by using an online form to record the
attendance via a website.
INTRODUCTION
• Based on the study conducted for attendance records
system from the innovation project, the results show
there are some students who do not record their
attendance as per instructed.
• Some students record their attendance earlier than
the time of class started. There are also students who
record their attendance at the end of the day when
the class has ended a long time ago. Also, there is a
case where students who attend the online class do
not record their attendance for several times.
• Therefore, this study intends to study the perception
of students towards the attendance record system.
Researcher also want to investigate the concern of
student responsibility, honesty and integrity in using
the attendance record system.
PROBLEM STATEMENTS
ATTENDANCE RECORD SYSTEM
The main objectives of this research are
as follows:
1.To investigate student’s sensitivity
towards attendance records.
2.To investigate student’s perception
towards attendance records methods.
3.To investigate student’s perception
towards online attendance records
system implemented.
RESEARCH OBJECTIVE
 Using a system in recording an attendance record
during classes will a make a task much more
convenience to the lecturer and facilitate students.
 This research is important to the institution in order to
give out guidance about student readiness and
preparation in using a system for recording attendance
during classes.
 By analyzing the student sensitivity and perception
towards online class attendance records implemented,
researcher able to identify student readiness to
embrace the usage of system in recording an
attendance.
 This research also able to benefits other researcher or
individual who want to get an information related with
the impact of online class attendance record system on
students.
RESEARCH SIGNIFICANCE
 A research related with students’ sensitivity on the
attendance record, students’ perception on the
attendance records method and student perception on
the attendance records system implemented at
Jabatan Teknologi Maklumat & Komunikasi, Politeknik
Mersing.
 Students involved in this study are students from
networking track who registered for Session 1
2021/2022 at Jabatan Teknologi Maklumat &
Komunikasi, Politeknik Mersing.
 The study was conducted quantitatively through data
collected based on a questionnaire given to the
students as a respondent.
RESEARCH SCOPE
 Today’s learning environment differs from
traditional classroom situations when it comes
to student motivation, satisfaction and
interaction (Bignoux & Sund, 2018)
 According to study conducted by Enjang Ali
Nurdin, Wahyudin and Deni Martin (2019)
example for non-manual attendance is using
any technology or system to automate the
record of student attendance
 The real disadvantages of manual attendance
recording are a loss or damage of the
attendance record (Karwan Jacksi, Falah
Ibrahim, Shahab Ali, 2018).
LITERATURE REVIEW
 With the benefit of digital technology, it would
be a more useful to integrate software-based
system to facilitate the process of recording a
student attendance (Abd Rahni, Zainal, Zainal
Adna, Othman and Bukhori, 2015).
 The using of information systems and
computer technology is important to facilitate
the instructor to supervise student attendance
in real time. This can help educators and
institutions to directly monitor the progress of
student attendance levels more efficiently and
effectively (Borale et al.,2016

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
• In this research, 80 students from networking track at
Jabatan Teknologi Maklumat & Komunikasi, Politeknik
Mersing during Session 1 2021/2022 are involved. The
selection of respondents is based on the student’s
similarities whom learned under lecturer with a
codename FHBA.
• The descriptive method with questionnaire were used as
a survey instrument in this research. Questionnaire
adapted from Aliff Nawi (2014) and Mohd Fadli Ahdon
(2020) are used and distributed to the respondents.
• There are four parts in the questionnaire where Part A is
containing respondent’s information, Part B containing
level of respondent sensitivity towards attendance
records, Part C containing respondent perception
towards attendance records methods and Part D
containing respondent perception towards attendance
records system implemented.
RESEARCH INSTRUMENTS
• For the purpose of interpretation, questionnaire with a
Likert Scale are used where scale is given from scale of
1 until scale of 5. Scale will interpret an answer choice
as Strongly Disagree (SD), Disagree (D), Not Sure (NS),
Agree (A) and Strongly Agree (SA) as per Schedule 1
below.
Scale Interpretation
