Dynamics CRM 2013 featured a brand new menu bar designed for 4 reasons:
Make user navigation much easier
Free up screen space as the menu disappears when not in use
Creates a consistent look and feel from Laptop to Mobile and Tablet
The elimination of pop up windows
The traditional left navigation menu found in versions 2011 and older were replaced by a new horizontal bar shown above groups the main navigation areas.
This was well received by Microsoft, but in their 2015 quarter 2 update available soon, they have gone even further and made navigation even more user friendly.
Again, we have the same tiled interface, but rather than scrolling from left to right, the menu bar expands downwards showing all the sub areas relating to the area you are in. No need to scroll the menu to find the area you want to work in anymore. Microsoft Dynamics CRM also has recently viewed records and favourites pinned to the new navigation bar. Why does this matter? You can pretty much reach anywhere in CRM in 3 clicks or under.
A big part of working in crm is recording
Nancy has just started working on a new opportunity for northwhind traders. She wants to track and associate all emails related to this opportunity. First, nancy needs to create a folder in outlook, so she creates a northwhind traders sub folder under opportunities. To do this in CRM, you navigate ot options, and creates a new mapping between the folder just created and the related record in CRM. Now, whenever nancy gets an email relating to northwhind traders, she can drag and drop the email into the folder just created, and it will appear as an email activity on the records form.
This functionality is also available on mobile by simply clicking move
To make this process even more streamlined, you can create a rule in outlook that any emails relating to northwhind traders will automatically move into the folder, and automatically appear on the CRM record.
