Comparing Ruby on Rails Public vs. Private Cloud OptionsAltoros
The number of Ruby on Rails applications running in the cloud has been augmenting. And so has the number of public and private cloud solutions for Ruby on Rails. Choosing between them and—even before that—choosing between a public and a private cloud can be difficult. This white paper is intended to show you when you can benefit from running your Ruby on Rails application in the cloud, explain the differences between a public and a private cloud, and help you choose between the two.

Study: The Future of VR, AR and Self-Driving CarsLinkedIn
We asked LinkedIn members worldwide about their levels of interest in the latest wave of technology: whether they’re using wearables, and whether they intend to buy self-driving cars and VR headsets as they become available. We asked them too about their attitudes to technology and to the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the devices that they use. The answers were fascinating – and in many cases, surprising.
This SlideShare explores the full results of this study, including detailed market-by-market breakdowns of intention levels for each technology – and how attitudes change with age, location and seniority level. If you’re marketing a tech brand – or planning to use VR and wearables to reach a professional audience – then these are insights you won’t want to miss.

Social Media. Revolution, Evolution, Solution.Cindy De Smet
Ten years ago, Mark Prensky coined the terms digital natives ( a person who was born during or after the introduction of digital technology) and digital immigrants. However, recent reseach shows that these "natives" are not so comfortable with technology as expected. Today, Martin Weller proposes a more realistic view on this topic and introduces "the digital scholar".
In this presentation, the presenter (Phd-student, teacher and webaddict) brings her point of view on how teachers can use social media in their classroom.

• A social network is a social structure made up of individuals (or

4. Social Impact
• Web based social networking services make it possible to connect
people who share interests and activities across political, economic,
and geographic borders. Through e-mail and instant messaging, online
communities are created where a gift economy and reciprocal
altruism are encouraged through cooperation. Information is
particularly suited to gift economy, as information is a non-rival
good and can be gifted at practically no cost.

18. Business Model:
EXISTING SOCIAL NETWORKING
h"p://www.dvers.com 18
Monday, May 30, 2011
19. Business Model
• Social networks operate under an autonomous business model, in
which a social network's members serve dual roles as both the
suppliers and the consumers of content. This is in contrast to a
traditional business model, where the suppliers and consumers are
distinct agents. Revenue is typically gained in the autonomous
business model via advertisements, but subscription-based revenue is
possible when membership and content levels are sufficiently high.

• Based on well known social
networking they are getting
revenue from advertising and
membership.
• It is amazing? No, it is not! We think
it is still far away from amazing,
there is a lot opportunities ahead.
