Research interests
• Quantitative analysis of different soil microbial communities (Bacteria, Fungi,
Actinomycetes) responsible for various biological processes and nutrient cycling (C, N and P)
in terrestrial ecosystems.
• Monitoring CH4, N2O and CO2 emission from rice and rice-based cropping system and work
out appropriate mitigation option.
• Enumeration and isolation of GHG-mobilizing microbes (methanogens, methanotrophs,
nitrifiers and denitrifiers).
• Evaluation of the interactive effects of greenhouse gases (CO2, CH4 and N2O), temperature,
hydrological and microbiological relations on soil carbon decomposition and nutrient
release, and their impact on climate change.
