HOWTO WORK ON YOUR VOCABULARY IN THIS CLASS 
• Write the word. 
• Copy the sentence or phrase where you found it. Include enough context so that the 
meaning of the word is clear, as well as clues about GRAMMAR, CONNOTATION and 
COLLOCATION. 
• Identify the word’s part of speech (noun, verb, adjective, adverb, etc.) as it is used in 
the reading. 
• Copy the English dictionary definition of the word (choose the meaning for your 
context). 
• Make up an original sentence of your own using the word the same way it is used in 
the article.
