The document discusses a technology demonstration of a document management system (DMS). It begins with an introduction of John Cachat and his experience. It then discusses challenges organizations face with documents being unorganized and difficult to find. The demo shows how a DMS can store, organize, retrieve, track and distribute documents to address these challenges. It highlights lessons learned from the EPA in emphasizing processes over technology and the financial impacts of automation. It concludes with how to get started with a DMS and contact information.

10 Principles of Good Business Process ManagementJan vom Brocke
Our findings allow practitioners to comprehensively scope their BPM initiatives and provide a general guidance for BPM implementation. Moreover, the principles may also serve to tackle contemporary issues in other management areas.
We identify ten principles which represent a set of capabilities essential for mastering contemporary and future challenges in BPM. Their antonyms signify potential roadblocks and bad practices in BPM. We also identify a set of open research questions that can guide future BPM research.
This is the first work that distills principles of BPM in the sense of both good and bad practice recommendations. The value of the principles lies in providing normative advice to practitioners as well as in identifying open research areas for academia, thereby extending the reach and richness of BPM beyond its traditional frontiers.
The identification and discussion of the principles reflects our viewpoint, which was informed by extant literature and focus groups, including 20 BPM experts from academia and practice.

Apqp bumming you out briefing may 30 2013John Cachat
Sales can’t update the customer on launch status. Engineering spends more time updating Gantt charts than they do actually engineering stuff. Quality can’t find the documentation. Purchasing has no idea when the supplier status is. Sound familiar?
What this means is:
• Products are late
• Quality is unacceptable
• Resources are wasted
• Problems are repeated
What we have found is that Project Management is done with the wrong tools and/or people
• Resources are over-scheduled
• Issues are not resolved
• True costs are unknown / inaccurate
What we have found with Project Management Software
• Tools are cumbersome, force detailed information that is unknown
• People resort back to XLS
• Management cannot support the team and resort to firefighting issues
Learn about an approach to APQP and a SaaS technology that allows you to implement APQP the right way and engage your people and suppliers to improve communication, and launch higher quality products faster and on-time and under budget.

Good data is like good water: best served fresh, and ideally well-filtered. Data Management strategies can produce tremendous procedural improvements and increased profit margins across the board, but only if the data being managed is of high quality. Determining how Data Quality should be engineered provides a useful framework for utilizing Data Quality management effectively in support of business strategy. This, in turn, allows for speedy identification of business problems, delineation between structural and practice-oriented defects in Data Management, and proactive prevention of future issues. Organizations must realize what it means to utilize Data Quality engineering in support of business strategy. This webinar will illustrate how organizations with chronic business challenges can often trace the root of the problem to poor Data Quality. Showing how Data Quality should be engineered provides a useful framework in which to develop an effective approach. This in turn allows organizations to more quickly identify business problems as well as data problems caused by structural issues versus practice-oriented defects and prevent these from reoccurring.
Learning objectives:
-Help you understand foundational Data Quality concepts for improving Data Quality at your organization
-Demonstrate how chronic business challenges for organizations are often rooted in poor Data Quality
-Share case studies illustrating the hallmarks and benefits of Data Quality success

Key Components of a Successful Automation Implementation Precisely
Automation is becoming very popular in organizations as they seek to become more productive, decrease costs, and improve manual error-prone processes. At TDWI, we see that automation is occurring across the data and analytics life cycle. In a recent TDWI survey, for instance, approximately 25% each of the respondents cited automation for data management and analytics as a top priority.
Traditional automation includes a range of technologies that reduce human intervention in processes. Examples include data entry or trouble ticket submission. However, more recently, advanced analytics such as machine learning and natural language processing is being infused into automation tools to improve business outcomes. This is often referred to as cognitive automation and it is used to perform tasks typically performed by humans. This intelligent automation is also being used together with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to improve processes involving suppliers, vendors, customers, and more.
Join this TDWI webinar to learn more about automation, RPA, and how to ensure a successful automation implementation. Topics include:
An introduction to automation, intelligent automation, and RPAHow automation is being used in companies; both for data and analytics as well as to improve processesOrganizational and technology best practices for implementing automated solution

Efforts to improve computer software have led to the general use of certain methodologies, such as the Agile System Development Lifecycle, that are extremely focused on software coding. Even common technologies used for Big Data analytics, such as Hadoop and commodity disc storage, require additional programmer attention to implement capabilities that used to be handled by relational database management systems and (the) smart disc. How are organizations that are successfully “data driven” changing to focus on data-centric development?

DataEd Slides: Expressing Data Improvements as Business OutcomesDATAVERSITY
Join us and learn how you can better align your Data Management projects with business objectives to justify funding and gain management approval. Failure to successfully monetize Data Management investments sets up an unfortunate loop of fixing symptoms without addressing the underlying problems. As organizations begin to understand that data practices are the root causes of many business problems, they become more willing to make the required investments. However, we need to also approach them. The No. 1 reason that data programs fail to deliver is that they do not set or measure specific objectives that are meaningful to management. While there are opportunities to assist at the project level, data improvements are better able to be leveraged at the organization level. An improvable, dedicated data program can only be achieved by repeated application of data practices in service of specific business objectives. Data improvements typically do not maintain an ROI calculation. ROIs expressed in terms that board/executive management cares about deeply ensure data program viability. Improving organizational execution of specific data practice improvements must lead directly to specific improvements in organizational KPIs. While organizations may not be currently practiced in this ability, it is quite easy to learn. This presentation uses a number of specific examples calculating the business impact of data improvements. Program learning objectives include:
• Coming to grips with the state of practice
• Understanding the need for a comparable baseline measure
• Seeing application in a number of contexts

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms.
