DETAILED LESSON PLAN
ENGLISH 8
I. OBJECTIVES:
a. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to:
1. Define reality and fantasy;
2. Value the importance of knowing fantasy and reality;
3. Demonstrates understanding on the elements of reality and fantasy.
b. Content Standard
The learner demonstrates understanding of: South and West Asian literature
as an expression of philosophical and religious beliefs; information flow in
various text types; reality, fantasy, and opinion in listening and viewing
materials; word decoding strategies; and use of information sources,
active/passive constructions, direct/reported speech, perfect tenses, and
logical connectors in journalistic writing.
c. Performance Standard
The learner transfers learning by composing a variety of journalistic texts, the
contents of which may be used in composing and delivering a memorized oral
speech featuring use of properly acknowledged information sources,
grammatical signals for opinion-making, persuasion, and emphasis, and
appropriate prosodic features, stance, and behavior.

C. Motivation
Before we proceed to our next lesson,
let’s have first an activity. The teacher
will show the poster of “Spiderman”
Have you seen the movie entitled
Spiderman?
What are the marvelous actions of
Spiderman that you liked best in the
movie?
Teacher will write down on the board all
the ideas from the students about
Spiderman.
Students, do you think the idea of
Spiderman as a Superhero character a
reality or fantasy?
What are the things/elements that make
the story of Spiderman reality/fantasy?
Very good class! All of you have good
point on your side between fantasy and
reality. Let us solve the confusion on
your mind between our topic fantasy and
reality. Also find the different elements of
fantasy and reality.

Before we proceed on our discussion
please read first our objectives for
today`s discussion.

When we say character they are the
people who is presented in the story it
can be imaginative or real.
Settings is the time and place where the
story happens.
Theme is the underlying message or the
“big idea”.
E. Application
Class, I will group you into two, each
group will identify the character, setting
and theme of the video that I present
earlier. Then, you`re going to write in a
chart whether it is fantasy or reality. After
that, 2-3 representative each group will
present their works to the class. I will give
5 minutes to do that.

Value the importance of knowing fantasy and reality; 3. Demonstrates understanding on the elements of reality and fantasy. b. Content Standard The learner demonstrates understanding of: South and West Asian literature as an expression of philosophical and religious beliefs; information flow in various text types; reality, fantasy, and opinion in listening and viewing materials; word decoding strategies; and use of information sources, active/passive constructions, direct/reported speech, perfect tenses, and logical connectors in journalistic writing. c. Performance Standard The learner transfers learning by composing a variety of journalistic texts, the contents of which may be used in composing and delivering a memorized oral speech featuring use of properly acknowledged information sources, grammatical signals for opinion-making, persuasion, and emphasis, and appropriate prosodic features, stance, and behavior. d. Motivation Before we proceed to our next lesson, let’s have first an activity. The teacher will show the poster of “Spiderman” Have you seen the movie entitled Spiderman? What are the marvelous actions of Spiderman that you liked best in the movie? Teacher will write down on the board all the ideas from the students about Spiderman. Students, do you think the idea of Spiderman as a Superhero character a reality or fantasy? What are the things/elements that make the story of Spiderman reality/fantasy? Very good class! All of you have good point on your side between fantasy and reality. Let us solve the confusion on your mind between our topic fantasy and reality. Also find the different elements of fantasy and reality. D. Presentation Before we proceed on our discussion please read first our objectives for today`s discussion. At the end of the lesson, the students should be able to: 1. Define reality and fantasy; 2. Value the importance of knowing fantasy and reality; None, Sir. Pre-viewing Before we watch a video let us first unlock the unfamiliar words that we may encounter as we watch the presentation. 1. Avatar 2. Governance 3. Slavery b. Viewing Watch the video presentation carefully for you to answer my set of question regarding on the presentation. c. Post-viewing What have you noticed from the video? What can you say about the characters? What have you noticed about the things being done by the characters? Very Good! Class, there are elements of fantasy and reality. What do you think are they? Yes, Mr.______? Very well said! The character, setting and theme are the elements of fantasy and reality 1. Avatar- is the embodiment of a person or idea. 2. Governance- defined as the rules of the political system to solve conflicts between actors and adopt decision (legality). 3. Slavery- condition in which one human being was owned by another.   • 5. When we say character they are the people who is presented in the story it can be imaginative or real. Settings is the time and place where the story happens. Theme is the underlying message or the “big idea”. E. Application Class, I will group you into two, each group will identify the character, setting and theme of the video that I present earlier. Then, you`re going to write in a chart whether it is fantasy or reality. After that, 2-3 representative each group will present their works to the class. I will give 5 minutes to do that. Do you understand? Your 5 minutes starts now. After 5 minutes. F. Generalization To check if you really learned from today`s discussion, what do we mean by the word fantasy? Good! What else? Good! How about reality? Very Good! G. Evaluation We will now have a short quiz. Get ¼ sheet of paper. Write your name, section and the date today. Direction: Identify the following movies/tv series if they are fantasy or reality. 1. Harry Potter 2. MMK (Maala-ala Mo Kya) Yes, Sir!
