Evian Case Study
Recommendation
Possible Potential
Due to sudden hit of recession in the year 2009, Evian had to lose most of its market share. The
status which was built by Evian for water bottles was huge and tremendous. The limited edition
bottles made by Evian were specially designed by Jean Pual Gaultier and Haute Couture, which are
amongst the renowned designers in France. From this we could understand that Evian had a great
marketing potential but it lacked in some of its marketing strategies.
The possible potential of Evian s viral marketing can be explained as below:
A.Roller skating Babies advertisement
The roller skating advertisement which was featured by Evian was a huge hit. This ad received
around 73 million hits which hold Guinness world ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Social Media Marketing
1.Facebook: It is one of the most visited website amongst all social media modes of
communications. Every third person is on facebook, which makes in itself a huge place for
marketing any new product or campaign. According to our study Evian should opt for unique
membership on facebook as early as possible. Thus this will give them a quality members and
the brand would be able to maintain its status symbol. The brand should not be embarrassed in
sharing a water bottle commercial online. For facebook the brand should recommend some
famous personalities from sports to Hollywood to post their selfies with the brand on facebook.
Since the people get easily related with such personalities it will help the brand to rise at a faster
rate.
2.Twitter: In comparison with Facebook, twitter is not popularly used by the people. Since the
Twitter account of Evian was not regularly updated it lost its majority of followers. We think that
besides Facebook, the twitter account should be regularly updated with tweets. The recent drive
held by Evian Babies and young people was huge hit online. The ad received numerous tweets
online, thus keeping itself updated on twitter helped Evian build its marketing

Nike Brand Analysis
Brand Analysis Assignment Nike 1. What is the positioning strategy of the brand ВЎV that is, how
is it different from other brands in the market? How is it communicated through promotional
materials? Nike is a brand that usually signs top athletes of every sport from across the world to
lucrative deals so that the athletes can wear and represent Nike to its fullest. Nike, unlike its
competitors, wants to be seen more as a symbol of strength, dedication, hard work, sweat,
perseverance and the desire to succeed. Superb athletes and role models have extreme power over
teenagers and often influence them into purchasing products not otherwise thought of. Nike has

Action. Nike is a symbol reflecting hard work and the desire to succeed which is accomplished by
taking action. Nike uses powerful images of men and women in its ads, usually in a sporting
situation, to show where determination can take someone. This ad demonstrates the actions these
athletes take to prepare for the great task ahead. В„XAnother print ad shows one of the NBAВЎВ¦s
most talented basketball players, Kobe Bryant. Just days after Kobe BryantВЎВ¦s Nike contract
was signed the media revealed his involvement in a sexual assault case. Any involvement certainly
didnВЎВ¦t reflect NikeВЎВ¦s mission or image therefore Nike decided to lay low on KobeВЎВ¦s
contract. Now after the case has been settled Nike has begun its ad campaigns with Kobe as its
spokesperson. However, his ad has a twist. It is KobeВЎВ¦s profile against a dark background and
on the left side it mentions several tasks with accomplishments. Although the ad doesnВЎВ¦t
mention KobeВЎВ¦s involvement in the case directly it mentions several events of his life. The
ad is about Kobe overcoming the adversity and working hard to get through it, eventually leading
to the fact that he will still be on top because of his hard work and determination to get past it.
Again, Nike is communicating hard work and perseverance. В„XLastly is a print ad of NikeВЎВ¦s
most recent campaign. Nike has officially moved towards the mini trend celebrating the full figure

The Current Governor Of Texas
The Constitution divides the powers of the government of the State into three distinct departments:
the legislative, the executive and the judicial. Under the terms of the Constitution, no person in any
one department may exercise any power attached to another department unless specifically
authorized to do so by the Constitution.
First is the executive branch. The executive branch is often referred to as a plural executive
because many of the offices in that branch of government are elected directly by Texas voters.
The Executive Department of the State is composed of the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor,
the Comptroller of Public Accounts, the Commissioner of the General Land Office, the
Attorney General and the Secretary of State, all of whom are elected except the Secretary of
State (who is appointed by the Governor). The current governor of Texas (48th) is Republican
Greg Abbott, a former lawyer and former Attorney General. In order to be the governor of
Texas, one must be at least 30 years of age, a US citizen, a registered voter, and must be living in
Texas for at least the last 5 years. Being Governor is a 4 year term with no term limits and is a
full time job with a salary of $150,000 per year. The Governor has powers including some law
enforcement powers, some military powers, the title of Head of State who gives the State of the
State Address, can appoint department heads like the department head of Park and Wildlife and

African American Males and the World
The world has come a very long way since segregation was demolished with the help of Dr.
Martin Luther King Jr. This has opened a lot of doors for African Americans in the United States.
Better job opportunities and better chances at managing a stable family life. Sadly as time has
passed and we have rolled into the 21st century things aren t looking so great for the African
males in school. This rate changes from time to time, yet we don t know why or what it really is.
So, what is the average graduation rate for African Americanmales and why? Statistics, the one
source of information that almost everyone turns to in order to determine how often something
happens. With statistics we can see just what are the chances of a African male graduating against
compared to others. Apparently, 54% of most Africans males actually graduate from high school,
that s not bad. The other 46% show little to no effort then or drop out, which explains why their
scores would be below counterparts in other racial and ethnic groups in the school. Let us not
forget though, these are only statistics. Dropouts, plays another role in the game of graduation.
Now there are times where we all just want to quit or think that we ve reaches our limits , but it
seems that is mostly common in the African community. Now I m not saying all Africans, just
some who grew up in that type of environment where reaching limits is okay and that they shouldn
t try to surpass it. Now in order to actually tell

The Disappearing Match Essay
Human beings have had an odd relationship with magic. For most of our history, we ve been
executing those suspected of having otherworldly powers and there are some parts of the world in
which illusionists and magicians are still put to death; which, in a weird way, is sort of a testament
to their ability. The western world became a safe space to perform magicabout 200 years ago,
which opened the doors for the great magicians of history, such as Harry Blackstone Sr., Siegfried
Roy, and Harry Houdini, who is considered by many to be the single greatest illusionist of all time.
Those guys were all great, there s no doubt about that, but you don t need to have their level of
talent to wow audiences with your magical abilities. There are plenty of seemingly impossible

well as a couple of seconds to prepare.

The match should be taped to the top half of your thumb, as going too far away from your

So, with the match firmly stuck to it, burry the top half of your thumb into your hand and mask it
with your fingers, essentially making a vertical fist. This will leave the match sticking out of your

The Relationship between the People and the Land in Willa Cather s O Pioneers
For the first time, perhaps, since that land emerged from the waters of the geologic ages, a human
face was set toward it with love and yearning
This quotation cuts straight to the heart of Willa Cather s whole argument throughout O Pioneers!,
which is that it is Alexandra Bergson s will to survive and continually adapt which makes her
successful the facts that her neighbours are unwilling to take up new ideas and technologies, they
are unwilling to gamble, and, worse, unwilling to listen to those whose relationship with the
landscape is harmonious and respectful (such as that of Ivar), mark them down as part of the

Any difference or deviation is frowned upon in the most serious manner. Mrs Lee s comment
about hot water baths is that she cannot clean herself, cannot make a strong suds (page 54), so
she pretends to conform. There is no tolerance for the traditional ways or for non conformists.
This disharmony within society is a greater division for Cather; it is a division between those
who can only think within the constraints of the past and the present; there is no evidence of a
hunger for progress, only for the rapid accumulation of wealth (as demonstrated by Lou s
eagerness to sell out to Charlie Fuller.) Randall quotes Cather herself in this: A pioneer should have
imagination, should be able to enjoy the idea of things more than the things themselves. Only this
second category of people are those who own the land. Cather is making a case in this novel (and
subsequently in the similarly themed My Antonia that the former sort of people are

American Children Should Be Banned
American businesses are prone to using children to advertise their products. Wether or not it
should be banned, depends on the company s intentions. There are good and bad people in the
marketing industry. The way children think or respond to what they are promoting is their
decision. Children s brains are developing, and many kid s do not know the difference between
right or wrong. The only way using a child to advertise could be harmful, would be if they are
promoting violence. Many children advertise new toy s, clothing, breakfast foods, and new
television series etc. In that, depending on the humor, cast, and genre could you label it harmful, or
not. Both passages mention that it is only a money making industry, for both the business

The American Court System And Dna
The American Court System and DNA Will the use of forensic DNA in the courts be the equalizer
for the wrongly convicted? Per the National Registry of Exonerations, there have been 1,916
exonerations in the United States since 1989 ( National Registry of Exonerations, n.d.). Barry
Scheck and The Innocence Project have been instrumental in facilitating the exoneration process by
presenting forensic DNAevidence to American courtrooms. DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the
hereditary material that lies within the nucleus of all cells in humans and other living organisms.
Each person s DNA is unique, and only identical twins share the exact DNA (Vocabulary.com,
2016). Quite by accidents, while conducting research in his laboratory, Sir Alec Jeffreysdeveloped
the technique for the biological ID of any person using only a tiny sample of their DNA (Royal
Society of Biologists, 2016, p. 16). Since the introduction, the use of forensic DNA has manifested a
major impact upon the prosecution, juries, and the wrongly convicted in the American Court
System. As an instrumental character in the adversarial process the American Criminal Justice
system uses, the impact of DNA evidence directly affects the way prosecutors present their case
during trial. When a prosecutor introduced DNA forensic evidence to the American courtroom in
1987, that DNA forensic evidence was the catalyst that secured the conviction of a rapist, Tommie
Lee Andrews, in Orange County, Florida (State

How Did Industrialization Affect The Economy After The 1800s
After the 1800 s, the United States economy began to change drastically through industrialization,
big cities, and factories. All of these changes greatly affected daily life, labor norms, and trade.
There were new technologies in people s lives that helped the way they communicated and
travelled. Factories produced items faster and big cities led to more money, and more
opportunities. The government gave support to the market revolution in the ways they were
capable of doing so to help facilitate economic progress. Industrialization culturalized the economy
and the social life in the country at this time. This progress created new and improved jobs that
boosted the nations economy, which also allowed for more technological advancements. Better

Chicago, which was swampy at first, had no mountain barrier; this allowed easy traveling for trade.
Chicago was also economically linked to New York because the moneymakers like William Butler,
helped developed Chicago. Butler brought money to Chicago to help it become the booming city it
eventually did. The new city became an industrial powerhouse, which linked the entire United States
from the Erie Canal down to the Mississippi River. Connecting Chicago to these canals and rivers
allowed it to turn into enormous global trade area. The Lowell Mills also created a new type of
work life. The hours were dependent on the clock, not on sunrise, women were working in the
factories and it created the putting out system. The Lowell Mills had the girls working all day,
producing clothing for little pay and in tough working conditions. The girls had to sleep in the
boarding houses if they worked at the mills. The boarding houses were closely supervised, they
had to attend church, the doors locked at 10:00 p.m. and they had to work and eat on the bell

Pros And Cons Of A Good Ozone And Good Ozone
Good ozone
Bad ozone
Ozone occurs in two layers of the atmosphere. The ozone that is commonly associated with ozone
depletion and the ozone hole is in the stratosphere, a layer that extends upward from about 10 to
30 miles (15 to 50 kilometers) above the earth. This good ozone shields life on earth from the sun s
harmful ultraviolet rays (UV b).
The layer surrounding the earth s surface is the troposphere. Here, ground level or bad ozone is
an air pollutant that damages human health, vegetation, and many common materials. It is a key
ingredient of urban smog. The troposphere extends from the surface to about 10 miles (15
kilometers) above the surface. Ground level, or bad ozone , is also called tropospheric ozone
while good ozone is called stratospheric ozone. About 80 90% of all ozone in the atmosphere is
found in the stratosphere ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In fact, 90% of the earth s ozone layer is located in the stratosphere. This stratospheric ozone is 6
30 miles high above the ground. Natural ozone creates a protective shield from the sun s
damaging rays onto the earth. Ultraviolet radiation, or UV rays, can create a host of health issues,
such as skin cancer, cataracts and immune system impairments, if UV exposure is too high. Ozone
is also commonly used in mold remediation and as an effective means of odor control.
In our modern technologically advanced society, man made activities have been depleting our
ozone layer faster than ever. As our protective ozone shield becomes compromised, more UV
radiation makes its way to the earth s surface. Increased amounts of UV rays are exemplifying the
detrimental effects on human, animal and agricultural

Victor Frankenstein Thirst for Knowledge
At the beginning of life, humans are exposed to the outside world with an open and blank mind. A
newborn has no knowledge, no concerns or worries and it only seeks to fulfill its main necessities.
Surrounded by the outside world one lives through many experiences where knowledge is accepted.
Encountering other humanbeings reflects upon one s perception and brings about ones self
decisions. Mary Shelley s novel, Frankenstein, written in 1816, demonstrates through characters that
an obsessive desire for more knowledgemay ruin ones life.
The desire of extensive knowledge is first seen through Victor Frankenstein. At the beginning of the
novel, a young boy named Victor grows up in Geneva deeply smitten with the thirst for knowledge

No mortal could support the horror of that countenance. A mummy again endued with animation
could not be so hideous as that wretch. I had gazed on him while unfinished; he was ugly then, but
when those muscles and joints were rendered capable of motion, it became a thing such as even
Dante could not have conceived. (37) The monster continues to follow Victor throughout his life as
he seeks revenge for abandoning him as a young child.
The idea of pursuing knowledge clouded Victor s mind and when his creature is born he is
shocked to discover that what he has created is far off his own expectations. Not only did the
monster destroy his expectations of developing a creature that went beyond human knowledge, but
it also affected his life, dignity, and fears. Victor himself admits to his own mistake when he says,
The different accidents of life are not so changeable as the feelings of human nature...but now that I
had finished, the beauty of the dream vanished, and breathless honor and disgust filled my heart
(36). Victor Frankenstein realizes what his obsession with pursuing an extensive amount of
knowledge has brought him. His destiny to achieve the impossible with no regard for anyone or
anything but himself shows that he is blinded by knowledge when creating the monster and is
incapable to foresee the outcome of his creation. Victor s goal was meant to improve and help
humanity, but instead it leads to

stagnant for the 1st 2 games seen LeSean McCoy reached 100 yards with 2 TDs and Tyrod Taylor

Taylor completion percentage was poor but missing Watkins as his top receiving threat it was
expected. The Bills aside from Watkins have a pedestrian receiving corp, which doesn t help
Taylor at all. This Bills will have to invest in a WR rather through the draft or free agency this
upcoming off season to maximize Taylor full potential as a passer.
The offense started to show promise and the defense was strong vs the Cardinals which is good
as they ll travel to New England to play the Patriots this week. The Patriots are ailing with QB

The Bitch Manifesto By Joreen Freeman
Feminist Movements started long before 1960, with the advancement of women earning the
right to vote. However, it did not stop with that change. There were many other items that the
women in history hoped to change, not only to better their own lives, but also the women of the
future. With the use of many documents, such as flyers, letters, and boycotts, women of the past
changed many different aspects of life for women in the world today. Boycotting the Miss
America Pageant in 1968 and 1969, circulating flyers around America, was just the beginning of
this second movement. They also used to write to convey their thoughts. One of which was
titled The Bitch Manifesto and was written in 1968 by Joreen Freeman. The second was a spin
off from a children s book entitled There was a Young Women Who Swallowed a lie which was
written in 1970 by Meredith Tax. Slavery Exists! Reported by a flyer that circulated around
America in 1968. At this time, slavery as we remember was over, so to many at the time, what the
women were proclaiming may have been confusing to some. This circulated around before the Miss
America pageant. The Washington Women s Liberation were portraying the pageant to slavery
because Miss America was a slave to cultural norms of the time, the image of sex, virginal
prettiness, glory of war, mindless conformity, acceptance of racism, cult of youth, the competitive
spirit, and the capitalistic system. With this flyer, they were hoping to gather others who

Janie feared that the court would misinterpret the day s events. It was not death she feared. It

people from the muck proved her fear accurate by withholding their support. They asked the

Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
The books are to remind us what fools we are (Bradbury, Fahrenheit 451). Book Burning has
been around ever since books have. All throughout history from biblical to modern time book
have been burned. Rarely are books burned for no reason, some of the most common reasons books
are burned for religiously or politically. However is burning books good or bad for society?
Whether if book burning is good or bad depends on how you see the reason they are being
burned. There are many ways that book burning is good but many that are bad. In some ways book
burning can be good. As appointed in Ray Bradbury s novel Fahrenheit 451many of the characters
point out that books consist of the real facts along with the truth about life that are good and
bad. When somebody burns a book in their eyes and opinion it could be a good reason while to
other it can be reason that makes no logical sense. Some reasons certain people may see it fit to
burn books is because the books in their eyes are offensive or against their views, beliefs and
values. In this case of book burning the person or group of people that are offended by this book

The Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test
Before taking these personality tests, I thought about what my personality is like, and I
considered myself to be a shy and kind person who is open to new chances and ideas. The
Humanmetrics Jung Typology Test revealed to me that my type is 16% Extravert, 19% iNtuitive,
16% Feeling, and 3% Perceiving (ENFP). This tells me that I m the type of person that is more
concerned about being around other people and less concerned about my own interests. Then, it
also states that I make my choices based on what I am feeling and that I trust my subconscious, or
that gut feeling, more deeply than my senses. Lastly, the test also mentioned that I can be both
structured and flexible at the same time. This test informed me that my personality is rather

Timing Switches At The Ends Of Competition Swimming Pools
From the beginning of time, the world of competitive swimming, to the days of Michael Phelps and

Compare And Contrast Alka-Seltzer With Hydrochloric Acid
The purpose of this experiment was to mix Alka Seltzer with Hydrochloric acid in order to
analyze Sodium Bicarbonate as an active ingredient in the Alka Seltzer. The mixture will contain
hydrochloric acid to only see the composition of Sodium Bicarbonate in the tablet once it reacts.
The amount that reacted allowed us to determine how much of it is present in the tablet. The
amount of sodium bicarbonate will be measure by using the ideal gas lawPV=nRT. The experiment
will be conducted in the lab, therefore we are going to use room temperature which ranges from 15
to 26 degrees celsius. At room temperature pressure ranges from 12.8 to 25.0 millimeters mercury
according to its corresponding room temperature. In the ideal gasequation R is 0.08206latm/mol k
which is a constant. Once we have those values we can calculates the number of moles that
reacted in the mixture by solving for the missing value. With the number of moles we are able to
find the mass in grams which is what will potentially tell us the composition of Sodium
Bicarbonate in a tablet of Alka Seltzer.
Results: There were three different runs in order to have comparable data and to increase the
validity of the experiment. The first run gave 39% of Sodium Bicarbonate. The second run gave
34% of Sodium Bicarbonate while the third one gave 39%, which is the same as the first run. The
average percentage was 37% which is much lower than the manufacturer s percentage of 59%. The
percent error came out to be 37%.
Discussion: The manufacturer results shows that Alka Seltzer has 1.9 grams per tablet. In the
experiment the results are too small compared to the number that is given by the label. In the first
run only .0588 grams reacted to the acid. That suggest that the tablet only contains 0.588 grams of
sodium bicarbonate which is very different from the manufacturers. The second run gave an even
smaller number of gram. In terms of moles only .0007 reacted in the first and third run and only
.0006 in the second run. There are many factor that could had alter the amount of moles that reacted
to the acid which affected the result in showing that there is a smaller composition of sodium
bicarbonate in the tablet than that of the manufacturer s. The

Gauis Petronius The Satyricon
The Satyricon by Gauis Petronius Arbiter (Petronius) (d. 66 CE) is in various ways an extreme
exaggerated narrative of Roman dining practices in his time period. The section regarding the
Dinner with Trimalchio illustrates this notion through his character Encolpius first hand experience
in attending this event. The satirical portrayal of self made millionaire , Trimalchio goes to an
extreme where he invited guest to his abode for a dinner to honor him, and to show off his grand
status.
Petronius satirical novel stems around social manners within the world of classical antiquity, where
it seems his intent is to amuse his audience, but in that amusement also demean the aristocracy with
his light wit. The author shows his audience, the lengths to which Trimalchio goes to portray his
idea of grandeur. Despite Trimalchio s portrayal of over the top wealth and grandeur, his

The Correlation Between Television Advertising And Obesity
INTRODUCTION
The increased prevalence of child obesity has served as momentum for research to determine the
nature, dimensions and significance of the relationship between Television advertising and
obesity. This issue has raised major debates among policy makers, academicians, the public and
even marketers themselves. The most commonly used measure of obesity is the Body Mass
Index (BMI) and it is calculated by dividing the weight by the square of individual s height. The
Hasting s review (2003) states that a majority of children s food promotion is conveyed by
television advertising, with the majority of such promotions focusing on sugar laden breakfast
cereals, confectionary, soft drinks and savory snacks. According to the Centers... Show more

More recently, Caroli et al. (2004) offered supporting evidence that exposure to diverse media
content which includes food advertising was of great influence on children s eating habits.
Henderson and Kelly (2005), established children s frequent exposure to TV snack and enticing fast
food advertising as very are important factors in that contribute to them developing unhealthy eating
habits that could result in obesity. Concern about food advertising directed toward children,
estimated to be more than $1.6 billion per year annually (FTC 2008), has grown, along with the
incidence of childhood obesity, which has tripled in the past three decades (Harris et al. 2009).
The relationship between advertising and obesity is even yet the more strengthened by theories like
the classic externality theory of obesity which postulates that the obese are more influenced by
external stimuli than are the lean (Schacter, 1971). It can be assumed that the predominant
advertising techniques aimed at children are inhibitory in nature on purpose such that children are
less willing to critically evaluate specific advertisements.
LITERATURE REVIEW According to the American Association of Paediatrics (AAP), the
average child in the United States watches about four hours of television daily. If time spent in
front of the television playing video games or watching DVDs is added, the total time spent sitting
in front of the TV screen increases (AAP

The Catholic Faith
Paper #2 The Catholic faith is based on this central figure, Jesus, who teaches them how to live in a
manner according to the ultimate creator: God. There are ways to view Jesus in the modern day
through different means of interaction. One way of interaction with Jesus is achieved when people
attend church on Sundays to ensure that they are live according to God through their daily
activities. Another way Christians see interaction with Jesusis through Mary and the saints because
Mary and the saints are ideal examples of Jesus. These interactions are essential to the Catholic
faith, but the most important reappearance of Jesus is through the Sacraments. Essentially, the
Sacraments are a way of getting inside of the Bible by committing to the same actions that Jesus
performed in the Bible. By conducting the sacraments, a person is considered to be transformed by
doing the same things Jesus did. The reappearance of Jesus is best viewed through the Sacraments,
more specifically in An Introduction to Catholicism through the explanation of the concept of
sacramentality, which encompasses baptism, confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist. In order to grasp
an understanding of the Sacraments, a person must first understand the concept of sacramentality.
According to Lawrence Cunningham, the word sacrament mean[s] a visible sign of divine power
manifested in humanity (Cunningham, pg.101). This concept of divine power portrayed in
humanity can be understood as a public sign that

Hyperbole In A Hanging Essay
By examining George Orwell s short story A Hanging, one can see by analyzing the hyperbole
of the dog and the prisoner dodging the puddle which illustrates how these characters signifies
the importance of each individual s life. Firstly, the dog is specifically used for over
exaggeration because it demonstrates innocence with its untamed spirit which makes it difficult
for the warders to murder it without them feeling the guilt. When the warders and the prisoner
started getting relatively close to the gallows, suddenly a bloody brute known as the dog
suddenly appeared in the yard and it jumped up trying to lick the prisoner s face. The narrator in
the story used the dog as a powerful symbol to display that all men deserve to be equally... Show

However, the superintendent angrily yells because of the interruption of the execution by stating,
Who let that bloody brute in here? said the superintendent angrily. Catch it, someone! this quote
illustrates how the superintendent angrily is ordering the guards to catch the dog but the guards
felt guilty to capture such an innocent creature when the author states, Everyone stood aghast,
too taken aback even to grab at the dog. which appears that the author purposely placed this
scene to demonstrate to the reader about the importance of each individual s life. Therefore, the
use of hyperbole of the dog in the story clearly illustrates that Orwell used characters such as the
guards to support the concept of the dog trying to display the significance of a human being.
Secondly, as the prisoner was being guided to the gallows, he stepped aside to avoid the puddle.
then the narrator began to express his own feelings on the prisoner s action which states, It is
curious, but till that moment I had never realized what it means to destroy a healthy, conscious
man. When I saw the prisoner step aside to avoid the puddle, I saw the mystery, the unspeakable
wrongness, of cutting a life short when it is in full

The theories of aging especially disengagement, modernization, and activity theories emphasize

Lack Of Support For The African American Community Essay
John McWhorther argues that African Americans, Like insecure people everywhere, are driven by
a private sense of personal inadequacy to seeing imaginary obstacles to their success supposedly
planted by others. This is his theory of victimhood. However, McWorther incorrectly and
insensitively denies that there are indeed obstacles obstructing African Americanpursuits. He
maintains similar standpoint as D Souza who also points a disdainful and disappointing finger at
the African American community. Both take a microscopic view of blacks and assume that there
must be a character flaw in black design for we live in an egalitarian society and if blacks wanted
to rise, there are no forces restricting them to do so; false. These critics would rather dissect black
culture and the black man himself instead of the American structures that keep many enslaved to
oppression. The lack of support provided for the African American community allows society to
maintain their stigmatized image of them; restricting them from rising above the stereotypes and
presumptions that they must work ten times harder to overcome.
Both McWhorther and D Souza undermine the idea of cause and effect. For example, when young
black boys and girls disproportionately live in poverty. This trend leads these same children to
inadequate school systems where their hunger for food and sustenance displaces a hunger for
education. Many of whose intellect and promise are also overcast by an unhealthy home and

Designing An Effective Advertising Poster Campaign For A...
The task was to create an effective advertising poster campaign for a specific film genre. I chose
the horror genre as I am very interested in the way they are put together and how they create an
eerie atmosphere by the technical codes (e.g. camera shots). For the primary research I created a
questionnaire that looked at all the different aspects used to create a successful horror poster. I
based my questionnaire around three different posters that were in the sub genre that I wanted to
research, so I could see how effective the techniques were to the targeted audience. The movies
were; Dark Skies, The Blair Witch Project and Haunt. I asked specific questions about the camera
shots and the colour schemes used in the posters. The data collected from the questionnaire helped
me identify the most effective aspects of the horror posters. 90% of my sample said that they found
a dark and gritty colour scheme (generally black, grey, dirty white and blood reds) very effective as
it represented the horror genre correctly . Another very effective technique was a contrast between
light and shadow. The audience found this effective because it created a dark and unsettling
atmosphere throughout the poster . Everyone who completed the questionnaire said that this also
complemented the eeriness of the overall product. The questionnaire helped me identify the most
prominent part of the posters. All participants who filled out the form said that the main image on

The Civil War And Emancipation
The Civil War, at first, was about slavery; however, the meaning of the war began to change, and
it began to be associated with healing. There were actually two main visions of the Civil War, and
Blight calls these twin goals and competing interests. One was to deal with the negative impacts,
which brought about a sense of healing. The second was regarding the emancipation of slaves. One
vision was about healing, while the other was about justice, and Blight notes this in the prologue
and states, Americans faced an overwhelming task after the Civil War and emancipation: how to
understand the tangled relationship between two profound ideas healing and justice (Blight,
Prologue, page 3). In addition, in part two of Blight s video... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

He states, We never found an adequate way in this society to put healing and justice in a historical
balance (Blight, online resource). Only one had to win over the other, and the winner was healing.
He also says the same in Chapter 1; he concludes, But the new nation awaiting rebirth also had the
thought of black equality on one side, the knowledge of sectional reunion on the other side, and no
muse yet in the middle holding their hands (Blight, Chapter 1, page 30). Again, Blight s argument
is that it probably never even was possible for there to exist a balance between healing and justice.
Blight states in the prologue, Defeated white southerners and black former slaves faced each other
on the ground, seeing and knowing the awful chasm between their experiences, unaware that any
path would lead to their reconciliation (Blight, Prologue, page 3). The sacrificing of racial justice
was an inevitable cost of attempts to reconcile between the north and the south. An example of that
from Chapter 22 in Bailey is the Ku Klux Klan. Numerous whites disliked the success that blacks
were experiencing, so they formed the Ku Klux Klan. Members of the society instilled fear into
blacks in order to prevent them from voting. They used extreme violence, which, by the 1890s, led
to nearly the disenfranchisement of all blacks. Basically, because attempts to forge reconciliation

The Hour Shifts For Nurses
Introduction
For the past 20 years, 12 hour shifts for nurses have been the norm. For hospitals and other medical
facilities, scheduling two 12 hour shifts is much more time efficient than scheduling three 8 hour
shifts, and less time is spent handing off patients (Trinkoff, et al., 2011, p. 1). Ideally, more time is
spent focusing on patient care. According to a 2012 brochure from the Department of Veteran
Affairs, VA nurses are able to pick between having a 12 hour shift, or a shorter shift (Become a
Nurse, p. 7), yet most nurses choose to work 12 hour shifts regardless of that choice. Is this choice

52). If nurses are working longer shifts, are they still able to demonstrate any of the carative factors
in Watson s Theory? Would a nurse be able to demonstrate the caring moment with a patient if the
nurse is on the twelveth hour of the shift?
Proposal
The objective, for hospitals should be to switch from 12 hour shifts to 8 hour shifts over the next 5
years. During the transitional years, limit the consecutive days that a nurse may work while
working 12 hour shifts. Studies show that when nurses work 12 hour shifts more than 2 days in a
row, they are more likely to suffer from burn out (Wisetborisut, Angkurawaranon, Jiraporncharoen,
Uaphanthasath, Wiwantanadate, 2014, p. 279). If a hospital does decide to keep 12 hour shifts,
design schedules so that there are no more than 2 consecutive days in which a nurse is working 12
hour shifts. Hospitals should also make it mandatory to take the next day off after working a 16
hour shift. Another alternative would be after working one 16 hour shift, have the nurse take
mandatory time off for no less than sixteen hours following the 16 hour shift. This way the nurse
has the opportunity to get an adequate amount of rest before having to come in and work another
shift.
There are several reasons why the nurse should want to move to a shorter shift. First is the benefit
of being able to deliver better

few. With America evolving into this enormous melting pot, different cultures and nationalities are
able to integrate together as one within the confines of the workforce.
Workplace diversity involves building a culture to unity dissimilar individuals to work collectively
toward the same goal. This type of comradery builds mutual respect among workers and fosters a
presence of cohesiveness. There are times when perfect unity is challenging to achieve among

Psychedelic Drugs Research Paper
Psychedelic Drugs
Medical interest in psychedelic drugs has been renewed, but is it possible to overcome their
negative stigma and association with counterculture to move forward with their potential medical
promise? Psychedelic drugs are poised to be the next major mental breakthrough in health care, yet
studying any type of illegal drug is often met with rejection, backlash, or tight regulations (Bushak,
2015). These drugs, if handled correctly, could potentially change the lives of millions of patients
across America. Many would suggest that the risk is too high, but in which way do psychedelics
present more risks than heavily addicting narcotics or alcohol? This treatment would allow
thousands of individuals to manage pain levels, anxiety, and depression in a whole new manner.
Legalizing psychedelic drugs for medical purposes would be beneficial to society because of their
potential medicinal and therapeutic treatments that heavily outweigh the observed risks.
Psychedelics are generally considered as a substance in which the primary action that occurs when
used is altered cognition and perception (Psychedelics, 2016, para. 1). Psychedelic drugs can

Mescaline is known to modulate neurotransmitters including serotonin and dopamine within the
brain, which both play essential roles in the regulation of pleasure (Hopkins, R, 2011, para. 7). This

medical treatment. Mescaline can produce varying perceptual, cognitive, and emotional
experiences, and was used by Aztecs and Native American groups for highly religious ceremonies,
communication with spirits, mystical effects, and most often, illnesses (CESAR,

Vertical Rocket Altimeter Experiment
The ratio seven to thirteen never gained any altitude, remaining at zero for every launch. They
merely burned and sputtered, then the ejection charge went off without ever getting off the
ground. As a result, all of its values, mean, median, mode, range, even standard deviation, are
zeroes. This means that all values are therefore significant within its set of values. The ratio ten to
ten achieved liftoff for two of its three launches, though only one of them actually escaped the
guidance rod used to keep the rocket going straight up. The one that did not travel upward instead
burned and melted its way through its PVC casing. The data set s values, five feet, two feet, and
zero feet, have no mode. Their mean is two and one third feet with a... Show more content on

In the chemical formula, 5 C12H22O11 + 48 KNO3 в†’ 24 K2CO3 + 36 CO2 + 55 H2O+24
N2, the ratio of oxidizer to fuel is 48:5 in moles, or 4852.8 grams of potassium nitrate to 1711.5
grams of sucrose, which simplify to 2.8 grams of oxidizer per gram of fuel. This means that the
potassium nitrate is used up 2.8 times faster than the sugar, therefore requiring more potassium
nitrate to sugar. None of the ratios tested have this exact proportion, in fact all of the ratios have
a smaller percentage of oxidizer than is advised, promoting the conclusion that the potassium
nitrate is the limiting reactant, running out first. The ratios simplify to as follows: 7:13 has 0.54
grams of oxidizer per gram of fuel, 10:10 has a 1:1, and 13:7 being has 1.86 grams per gram of
fuel. One would notice that as the ratio of oxidizer per fuel increases, the launch height also
increases. It can therefore be determined that as one gets closer to the ratio of 2.8:1, the engines
serve more positively, proposing a direct correlation between the two. This serves an explanation as
to why the thirteen to seven ratio created the best results, whereas the other rockets created little to

Since the people get easily related with such personalities it will help the brand to rise at a faster rate. 2.Twitter: In comparison with Facebook, twitter is not popularly used by the people. Under the terms of the Constitution, no person in any one department may exercise any power attached to another department unless specifically authorized to do so by the Constitution. First is the executive branch. The executive branch is often referred to as a plural executive because many of the offices in that branch of government are elected directly by Texas voters. The Executive Department of the State is composed of the Governor, the Lieutenant Governor, the Comptroller of Public Accounts, the Commissioner of the General Land Office, the Attorney General and the Secretary of State, all of whom are elected except the Secretary of State (who is appointed by the Governor). The current governor of Texas (48th) is Republican Greg Abbott, a former lawyer and former Attorney General. With statistics we can see just what are the chances of a African male graduating against compared to others. Apparently, 54% of most Africans males actually graduate from high school, that s not bad. The other 46% show little to no effort then or drop out, which explains why their scores would be below counterparts in other racial and ethnic groups in the school. Let us not forget though, these are only statistics. Dropouts, plays another role in the game of graduation. Now there are times where we all just want to quit or think that we ve reaches our limits , but it seems that is mostly common in the African community. Now I m not saying all Africans, just some who grew up in that type of environment where reaching limits is okay and that they shouldn t try to surpass it. Now in order to actually tell ... For most of our history, we ve been executing those suspected of having otherworldly powers and there are some parts of the world in which illusionists and magicians are still put to death; which, in a weird way, is sort of a testament to their ability. The western world became a safe space to perform magicabout 200 years ago, which opened the doors for the great magicians of history, such as Harry Blackstone Sr., Siegfried Roy, and Harry Houdini, who is considered by many to be the single greatest illusionist of all time. • 10. The American Court System And Dna The American Court System and DNA Will the use of forensic DNA in the courts be the equalizer for the wrongly convicted? Per the National Registry of Exonerations, there have been 1,916 exonerations in the United States since 1989 ( National Registry of Exonerations, n.d.). Barry Scheck and The Innocence Project have been instrumental in facilitating the exoneration process by presenting forensic DNAevidence to American courtrooms. DNA, or deoxyribonucleic acid, is the hereditary material that lies within the nucleus of all cells in humans and other living organisms. Each person s DNA is unique, and only identical twins share the exact DNA (Vocabulary.com, 2016). Quite by accidents, while conducting research in his laboratory, Sir Alec Jeffreysdeveloped the technique for the biological ID of any person using only a tiny sample of their DNA (Royal Society of Biologists, 2016, p. 16). Since the introduction, the use of forensic DNA has manifested a major impact upon the prosecution, juries, and the wrongly convicted in the American Court System. As an instrumental character in the adversarial process the American Criminal Justice system uses, the impact of DNA evidence directly affects the way prosecutors present their case during trial. When a prosecutor introduced DNA forensic evidence to the American courtroom in 1987, that DNA forensic evidence was the catalyst that secured the conviction of a rapist, Tommie Lee Andrews, in Orange County, Florida (State ... Compare And Contrast Alka-Seltzer With Hydrochloric Acid The purpose of this experiment was to mix Alka Seltzer with Hydrochloric acid in order to analyze Sodium Bicarbonate as an active ingredient in the Alka Seltzer. The mixture will contain hydrochloric acid to only see the composition of Sodium Bicarbonate in the tablet once it reacts. The amount that reacted allowed us to determine how much of it is present in the tablet. The amount of sodium bicarbonate will be measure by using the ideal gas lawPV=nRT. The experiment will be conducted in the lab, therefore we are going to use room temperature which ranges from 15 to 26 degrees celsius. At room temperature pressure ranges from 12.8 to 25.0 millimeters mercury according to its corresponding room temperature. In the ideal gasequation R is 0.08206latm/mol k which is a constant. Once we have those values we can calculates the number of moles that reacted in the mixture by solving for the missing value. With the number of moles we are able to find the mass in grams which is what will potentially tell us the composition of Sodium Bicarbonate in a tablet of Alka Seltzer. Results: There were three different runs in order to have comparable data and to increase the validity of the experiment. The first run gave 39% of Sodium Bicarbonate. The second run gave 34% of Sodium Bicarbonate while the third one gave 39%, which is the same as the first run. The average percentage was 37% which is much lower than the manufacturer s percentage of 59%. The percent error came out to be 37%. Discussion: The manufacturer results shows that Alka Seltzer has 1.9 grams per tablet. In the experiment the results are too small compared to the number that is given by the label. In the first run only .0588 grams reacted to the acid. That suggest that the tablet only contains 0.588 grams of sodium bicarbonate which is very different from the manufacturers. The second run gave an even smaller number of gram. In terms of moles only .0007 reacted in the first and third run and only .0006 in the second run. • 28. The Correlation Between Television Advertising And Obesity INTRODUCTION The increased prevalence of child obesity has served as momentum for research to determine the nature, dimensions and significance of the relationship between Television advertising and obesity. This issue has raised major debates among policy makers, academicians, the public and even marketers themselves. The most commonly used measure of obesity is the Body Mass Index (BMI) and it is calculated by dividing the weight by the square of individual s height. The Hasting s review (2003) states that a majority of children s food promotion is conveyed by television advertising, with the majority of such promotions focusing on sugar laden breakfast cereals, confectionary, soft drinks and savory snacks. (2004) offered supporting evidence that exposure to diverse media content which includes food advertising was of great influence on children s eating habits. Henderson and Kelly (2005), established children s frequent exposure to TV snack and enticing fast food advertising as very are important factors in that contribute to them developing unhealthy eating habits that could result in obesity. Concern about food advertising directed toward children, estimated to be more than $1.6 billion per year annually (FTC 2008), has grown, along with the incidence of childhood obesity, which has tripled in the past three decades (Harris et al. 2009). The relationship between advertising and obesity is even yet the more strengthened by theories like the classic externality theory of obesity which postulates that the obese are more influenced by external stimuli than are the lean (Schacter, 1971). It can be assumed that the predominant advertising techniques aimed at children are inhibitory in nature on purpose such that children are less willing to critically evaluate specific advertisements. • 29. The Catholic Faith Paper #2 The Catholic faith is based on this central figure, Jesus, who teaches them how to live in a manner according to the ultimate creator: God. There are ways to view Jesus in the modern day through different means of interaction. One way of interaction with Jesus is achieved when people attend church on Sundays to ensure that they are live according to God through their daily activities. Another way Christians see interaction with Jesusis through Mary and the saints because Mary and the saints are ideal examples of Jesus. These interactions are essential to the Catholic faith, but the most important reappearance of Jesus is through the Sacraments. Essentially, the Sacraments are a way of getting inside of the Bible by committing to the same actions that Jesus performed in the Bible. By conducting the sacraments, a person is considered to be transformed by doing the same things Jesus did. The reappearance of Jesus is best viewed through the Sacraments, more specifically in An Introduction to Catholicism through the explanation of the concept of sacramentality, which encompasses baptism, confirmation, and the Holy Eucharist. In order to grasp an understanding of the Sacraments, a person must first understand the concept of sacramentality. According to Lawrence Cunningham, the word sacrament mean[s] a visible sign of divine power manifested in humanity (Cunningham, pg.101). • 33. Hyperbole In A Hanging Essay By examining George Orwell s short story A Hanging, one can see by analyzing the hyperbole of the dog and the prisoner dodging the puddle which illustrates how these characters signifies the importance of each individual s life. Firstly, the dog is specifically used for over exaggeration because it demonstrates innocence with its untamed spirit which makes it difficult for the warders to murder it without them feeling the guilt. When the warders and the prisoner started getting relatively close to the gallows, suddenly a bloody brute known as the dog suddenly appeared in the yard and it jumped up trying to lick the prisoner s face. Catch it, someone! this quote illustrates how the superintendent angrily is ordering the guards to catch the dog but the guards felt guilty to capture such an innocent creature when the author states, Everyone stood aghast, too taken aback even to grab at the dog. which appears that the author purposely placed this scene to demonstrate to the reader about the importance of each individual s life. Therefore, the use of hyperbole of the dog in the story clearly illustrates that Orwell used characters such as the guards to support the concept of the dog trying to display the significance of a human being. Secondly, as the prisoner was being guided to the gallows, he stepped aside to avoid the puddle. then the narrator began to express his own feelings on the prisoner s action which states, It is curious, but till that moment I had never realized what it means to destroy a healthy, conscious man. • 35. Lack Of Support For The African American Community Essay John McWhorther argues that African Americans, Like insecure people everywhere, are driven by a private sense of personal inadequacy to seeing imaginary obstacles to their success supposedly planted by others. This is his theory of victimhood. However, McWorther incorrectly and insensitively denies that there are indeed obstacles obstructing African Americanpursuits. He maintains similar standpoint as D Souza who also points a disdainful and disappointing finger at the African American community. Both take a microscopic view of blacks and assume that there must be a character flaw in black design for we live in an egalitarian society and if blacks wanted to rise, there are no forces restricting them to do so; false. These critics would rather dissect black culture and the black man himself instead of the American structures that keep many enslaved to oppression. The lack of support provided for the African American community allows society to maintain their stigmatized image of them; restricting them from rising above the stereotypes and presumptions that they must work ten times harder to overcome. Both McWhorther and D Souza undermine the idea of cause and effect. For example, when young black boys and girls disproportionately live in poverty. This trend leads these same children to inadequate school systems where their hunger for food and sustenance displaces a hunger for education. I chose the horror genre as I am very interested in the way they are put together and how they create an eerie atmosphere by the technical codes (e.g. camera shots). For the primary research I created a questionnaire that looked at all the different aspects used to create a successful horror poster. I based my questionnaire around three different posters that were in the sub genre that I wanted to research, so I could see how effective the techniques were to the targeted audience. The movies were; Dark Skies, The Blair Witch Project and Haunt. I asked specific questions about the camera shots and the colour schemes used in the posters. The data collected from the questionnaire helped me identify the most effective aspects of the horror posters. 90% of my sample said that they found a dark and gritty colour scheme (generally black, grey, dirty white and blood reds) very effective as it represented the horror genre correctly . Another very effective technique was a contrast between light and shadow. The audience found this effective because it created a dark and unsettling atmosphere throughout the poster . Everyone who completed the questionnaire said that this also complemented the eeriness of the overall product. The questionnaire helped me identify the most prominent part of the posters. There were actually two main visions of the Civil War, and Blight calls these twin goals and competing interests. One was to deal with the negative impacts, which brought about a sense of healing. The second was regarding the emancipation of slaves. One vision was about healing, while the other was about justice, and Blight notes this in the prologue and states, Americans faced an overwhelming task after the Civil War and emancipation: how to understand the tangled relationship between two profound ideas healing and justice (Blight, Prologue, page 3). He also says the same in Chapter 1; he concludes, But the new nation awaiting rebirth also had the thought of black equality on one side, the knowledge of sectional reunion on the other side, and no muse yet in the middle holding their hands (Blight, Chapter 1, page 30). Again, Blight s argument is that it probably never even was possible for there to exist a balance between healing and justice. Blight states in the prologue, Defeated white southerners and black former slaves faced each other on the ground, seeing and knowing the awful chasm between their experiences, unaware that any path would lead to their reconciliation (Blight, Prologue, page 3). The sacrificing of racial justice was an inevitable cost of attempts to reconcile between the north and the south. An example of that from Chapter 22 in Bailey is the Ku Klux Klan. Numerous whites disliked the success that blacks were experiencing, so they formed the Ku Klux Klan. Members of the society instilled fear into blacks in order to prevent them from voting. Ideally, more time is spent focusing on patient care. Would a nurse be able to demonstrate the caring moment with a patient if the nurse is on the twelveth hour of the shift? Proposal The objective, for hospitals should be to switch from 12 hour shifts to 8 hour shifts over the next 5 years. During the transitional years, limit the consecutive days that a nurse may work while working 12 hour shifts. Studies show that when nurses work 12 hour shifts more than 2 days in a row, they are more likely to suffer from burn out (Wisetborisut, Angkurawaranon, Jiraporncharoen, Uaphanthasath, Wiwantanadate, 2014, p. 279). If a hospital does decide to keep 12 hour shifts, design schedules so that there are no more than 2 consecutive days in which a nurse is working 12 hour shifts. Hospitals should also make it mandatory to take the next day off after working a 16 hour shift. Another alternative would be after working one 16 hour shift, have the nurse take mandatory time off for no less than sixteen hours following the 16 hour shift. This way the nurse has the opportunity to get an adequate amount of rest before having to come in and work another shift. This means that the potassium nitrate is used up 2.8 times faster than the sugar, therefore requiring more potassium nitrate to sugar.
