MEDIA INSITITUION
HOW IT RELATES TO OUR FILM
OPENING
What does a production company do?
The production company can be directly responsible for
fundraising for the production. It handles scheduling,
budgeting, scripting, the supply of resources, organization of
staff, post-production, distribution and marketing.

Our company and logo
Our production company is called ‘green
candle films’. To the right is our logo. We
chose a very simple logo, a lit green candle.
We thought the simplicity made it more
memorable and the candle represents the
name, so its easily recognized.
What does a distributor poo?
A film distributor is a company or individual
responsible for the marketing of a film. The
distributor may set the release date of a film and
the method that the film is going to be exhibited
or made available for viewing.
OUR CHOSEN DISTRIBUTOR
We have chosen to use film4 productions as our film
distributor, this is because they are best known for
supporting low budget British films. Film4 productions is
a British film production company owned by channel four
television cooperation. In the past they have been known
for showing films in the psychological horror/thriller
genre- such as ‘seven psychopaths’. This is similar to our
film and so it is likely that they will show a great interest
in distributing our film. We could consider using a large
scale distributor, such as universal. They have distributed
films such as harry potter and fast and furious. However,
due to our budget and lack of star actresses- this would
not be possible.
Funding
In order to fund our film we will apple
to the British film institute (BFI) as
they distribute lottery money to low
budget British films such as our own.
This would pay for producing the film
and marketing it.
Audience
As our film is a low budget British film, it is likely
to only appeal to UK audiences- as previous
films like this haven't managed to go worldwide.
This is because it isn't as grand and high tech
compared to high budget Hollywood films, it is
also more fitted to British audiences (through
the use of dress and places).
