Institutional decisions
What does a production company do?A production company is responsible for the physical production of performing arts, films or television programs. The production company for films and television might provide the money, they set the budget. Sometimes they may also make decisions on what director and actors are hired.
What does a distributor do?A film distributor is a company or individual that helps to distribute the film to the general public for either home viewing or publically.Distributors will make an agreement regarding the marketing, advertising and selling of a film. Our release strategy would be to release it in March because the days are still quite short so it is darker for longer, this means that the people watching our film will want to be somewhere warm and it will be dark when they leave the cinema which is in keeping with our genre.
Our distribution companyIf we had to distribute our film professionally we would choose 20th century fox because they are fairly well known and have distributed many well known films such as ‘Taken’ and ‘Salt’. These are similar to our film because they are action films, this is why they would like ours.
How our film was funded? If we had made our film for public viewing we would have used the UK film council to give us money, as long as they thought our film was good enough.
