2. Production Company A production company is responsible for the development of new media tasks i.e. films, music, radio, TV etc. As we made a film I will be looking at film production company’s. Some of the time the company may be responsible for the funding however, they are not usually responsible for the commercialization of the media, a distributer will most likely do this. The company essentially plan and produce the film, finding setting, cast, crew etc.

3. Our Production Company For our production company we decided not to use a logo but use the same font in our titles. We used the name ICE because it had a certain connotation linked with thriller films and stood out. We felt that if it was written in the same font as the rest of our titles it would link to the film and not seem out of place.

4. Distributors Distributors are companies that distribute and market media products to the public. The type of distributor we need specializes in film. They will distribute the film for production companies and create the marketing campaign, which includes posters, viral marketing and the release strategy.

5. Why we used a distributer We decided on using a distributor for our film sequence because it allowed us to focus on the film and not have to worry about selling it. Distributers are able to market films on a large scale compared to what we could have done. The main inspiration for our film was Shutter Island. The distributer of Shutter Island was paramount pictures so we would use them because they distributed Shutter Island very successfully.

Funding From our research of “Shutter Island” we found that a big budget special effects blockbuster with a big Hollywood actor had “paramount” which is a large production company which is very popular and has a lot of money. Although considering we are a low-budget British film, it would be more suitable to have the production company of the “Isle of Man Film Commission” due to it’s tax allowance and help we could receive. It would be cheaper for us and it is still a well known company as it has done many famous films before including Miss Potter.
