A production company is responsible for creating a film through budgeting, scheduling, scripting, casting, and more. They find directors and actors and are responsible for any issues during filming, like injuries. A distributor's role is to promote and distribute the finished film to audiences. They determine the release date and strategy for promoting the film through previews, advertising, and releasing copies to cinemas and for home viewing. The filmmakers' project would be eligible for funding from the UK Film Council and BFI Film Fund as it is a British independent production with a UK cast and crew. Film4 would be a suitable distribution partner as they focus on similar lower-budget British independent films.

What does a production company do?
A production company essentially helps to create the film it is the foundation
of making a movie. It assists in the budgeting, scheduling, scripting, casting
and more. They are responsible for finding a director, the actors etc. However
they are also responsible if anything were to go wrong on the film, for
example and actor being injured or property being damaged.
What is a distributor?
A distributor basically is responsible to put your film out there for the waiting
audiences to watch. They decide what the release date is and they also
promote the film. There are a number of steps that are followed in the
process of distribution. They have to determine how many copies of the film
to make. The film is then previewed cinema owners. Distributors also decide
on how much the film will be advertised for and when and where the film will
be made available for home viewing e.g. DVD’S , Netflix etc

2. Funding for my film
Our film would fit into the criteria of the UK Film council. The type of funding
that we would be able to get The Film Fund is the production and
development heart of the BFI. As they support filmmakers in the UK who are
developing and capable of creating unique and entertaining work.
What kind of media distribution company would
distribute your film and why?
Our film is a British film and independent production so a company like Film 4
would be an ideal distributor. Film4 are owned by the Channel Four Television
Corporation. They partnered with Warp X Films where they challenge British
and International films and creating new ones for a lower budget, with the
intention of expanding their audience.Their main interest is in British
Independent films, such as Submarine, East is East etc. The reason Film 4
would distribute our film is because our film was filmed in the UK and it also
contains local-British actors and the production crew are from the UK. Film4 is
known for distributing films with cast members who have little fame or none at
all. By film4 giving us early backing, it means our future productions could be
much more successful with their help.

3. What is your film similar to institutionally?
Our film would be distributed by Film4 so institutionally it would be similar to
the films Slumdog millionaire and Submarine as they are released in a similar
way.
