Assessment Of The Myers Briggs Type Indicator
MBTI Assessment Outcomes The results of my Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
assessment revealed that I am an Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking and Perceiving (INTP) person. I
don t believe to have done this test in the past, so coming to find out that for the most part I fit
the description was quite interesting. I am not necessarily everything an INTP is but it is the
description that fits best. My current position at the company I work for has and will allow me
to experiment with some of the materials we are sharing during this term and create my own
conclusions on what works best for the type of employees that work under my direction.
Overview of State Law in Regards Rest Periods Isabel Briggs Myers created 16 personality types
and one of them was INTP. According to Isabel an INTP seeks to develop logical explanations for
everything that interests them. Theoretical and abstract, interested more in ideas than in social
interaction. Quiet, contained, flexible, and adaptable. Have unusual ability to focus in depth to
solve problems in their area of interest. Skeptical, sometimes critical, always analytical (CSU
Global, 2016). I am not necessarily everything an INTP is but it is the description that fits best.

Aluminum Foils
Before building the design that is best fit for the presentation, there was many models that had
failed . To start off with, the first design to successfully float with 50 pennies for 20 seconds was
Tyler s design that was built with two pop cans and two sheets of aluminum paper (one is used
to wrap the cans while the other is used to make a cup to hold the pennies). However, when the
group weighed this in class, it was around 31 grams, which is 4.5 grams overweight (the
requirement is 26.5 grams). Seeing this, the group cut the top of both cans off, this decreased the
weight and allowed the boat to meet standards. Sadly, since the opening was big, small amounts
of water leaked in while tested, this made the group reconsider using this design in the final
presentation. Following Tyler s design, Jalen created a design that had one pop can and aluminum
foil wrapped around it, however, when Jalen tested this at home, it did not work. During this time,
Claire made a design to Tyler s. Instead of using aluminum foil to wrap around the two cans,
Claire poked two holes through both cans and used a metal strip (a strip of aluminum cut from a
pop can) and connected the two cans. Knowing that it will be overweight, Claire cut both tops off....

Starting off with Tyler s design, the surface areaof this boat is bigger, this allows the pressure from
the pennies to spread out. Claire s design is similar to Tyler s, its advantage over the previous
design is that it is lighter, however, it is also unbalanced making the boat float in an awkward
angle. Lastly, there is the group design, which has the advantage of disabling the water to cover its
insides but a disadvantage of a higher number in the depth of the displaced area. To prove this, the
group should test all three boats out during the presentation, this would help communicate the
designs on each

Introduction
In 2000, the Board of Ursinus College, raised its tuition from $19,331 to $23,460. This turned out
to be a 17.6% increase. Surprisingly, the tuition increase proved to be a positive change for Ursinus
College. The college received more than 200 applicants than its previous year (Brickley, Smith and
Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Other regional institutions such as University of Notre Dame, Bryn
Mawr College and Rice University also experienced a similar trend once they increased their tuition
rates (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). The president of Ursinus College deduced
that the tuition increase affected enrollment rate (increased enrollment). She simply stated that
people don t want cheap (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Today, Susan Hansen,
Admissions Director of East Liberal Arts College, wishes to increase tuition and reduce financial
aid available to students (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Moreover, she has
expressed that increasing tuition and reducing the amount of financial aid will solve the schools
financial problems (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). This will be done by
increasing an effective tuition from $15,000 to $25,000 (Brickley et al., 2009). She also projects
that the tuition increase enrollment from 400 to 600 students (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman,

Job Enrichment And An Organization
Job enrichment can be defined as the process by which jobs are redesigned for workers so that
they can be in control of their duties and also perform more tasks to develop personal skills. An
important aspect of job enrichment is job redesign and it deals with the modification of the tasks
assigned to workers in an organization. The case study that will be analyzed for Job enrichment
theory in this paper is the expanded HIM functions.
In order to fully employ Job enrichment in an organization, the motivational goals must be put in
place. Goal setting is a medium in which managers can help to motivate workers to be more
efficient while performing their tasks. While redesigning jobs for HIS department workers, the
SMART goal setting principles was applied. The Smart goal is the acronym for specific,
measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. All these characteristics are evident in the goals, cut
out by the management of the HIS department in the bid of motivating the workers and increasing
productivity. HIS set its goals in four levels, the engineering goals, restructuring goals, work
redesign goals and job redesign goals. The engineering goals were set to analyze the visions,
regulations and organizational structure. The restructuring goals will reevaluate the organizational
structure. Work redesign goals also reevaluate the tasks assigned to the workers and the job
redesign were set to remove, add or restructure the tasks assigned to the workers. The goals set was

Childhood Obesity Epidemic, By The Encyclopedia Of Science
For the past few decades, the dire situation of obesity in America has gotten worse and is now
affecting new generations of young Americans. Every day the poor eating and physical choices
that children make can lead them to a life with diabetes, heart disease, and cancers. The unhealthy
lifestyle that children have is influenced by their parents and the society that surrounds them. This
unprecedented surge of poor lifestyle choices has lead to an epidemic that young children are now
facing. Ultimately, the health of young children is at stake. Being obese is not just being
overweight, but being overweight at an unhealthy level. The way to classify someone as
overweight is by using their body mass index, better known as BMI. If someone has... Show more

As stated in the Encyclopedia of Science s article, obesity is affecting any child from any
ethnicity or race, age, economic backing, or region. Hispanic children, African American
children, native American children, and any other children with bad quality eating habits,
especially in the south, are at an exceptionally higher risk. The southern part of America is
known for their comfort food, which is extremely fattening, and is the reason why children
living in the south have an exceptionally higher chance of becoming obese. In the African
American communities, as well as the Hispanic communities, nearly 40% of the children are
overweight or obese. Children who are at a lower economic standing may have a higher chance
of developing obesity, but that doesn t mean wealthier children are immune. The site, Let s
Move states that without solving this issue, 1/3 of all children born after 2000 will suffer from
diabetes at one point in their lives. Statistics from the Encyclopedia of Life Science show that
this number is still growing and is being compared to the 7% of obese children and 5% obese
teens in the 1980 s, to show the changes needed to be done in society. More action, now more
than ever, needs to be taken against obesity. Obese children risk developing cardiovascular
problems, cancers and as well as

Concussions happen mainly to teens between the age of 14 to 19 years old. There have been 7,000
to 20,000 concussions mainly due to sports, however, concussions can lead to brain damage,
dizziness and memory loss (Pressure). The injury can cost up to $30,000 in six months for
treatment. On the other hand, there are safety measures that everyone takes to prevent injuries.
Teachers assume that kids who play sports get horrendous grades and don t turn in their

Thomas Paine Influence
Would the revolutionary war in the New World have developed without Thomas Paine? Political
activist Thomas Paine created the first influential piece of writing, Common Sense, about retrieving
American independence over Great Britain. Common Sense was a famous 50 page pamphlet
discussing the possibility of creating a democratic republican party, and advocating independence
from Great Britain. Thomas Painehad ideas of independence before he wrote Common Sense, but
the American Public and his comrades motivated him even more about the prospect of
independence, and influenced him to write the pamphlet. Thomas Paine, contributing as a major
factor in the development of the American Revolution, was persistent on enforcing his ideas, and

He had already written papers about the injustices and cruelties the Americans had to face while
being overruled by Britain. Thomas Paine was the only American who had the audacity to write
about gaining independence from Britain. He was the one who believed in America and its
citizens to become a world superpower, and to grow into making their beloved country special.
Written in his essay Age of Reason, he said, I saw, or at least I thought I saw, a vast scene opening
itself to the world in the affairs of America; and it appeared to me, that unless the Americans
changed the plan they were then pursuing, with respect to the government of England, and declared
themselves independent, they would not only involve themselves in a multiplicity of new
difficulties, but shut out the prospect that was then offering itself to mankind through their means,
(44). In this passage of The Age of Reason, he stated his motive to write Common Sense. His
motive to write Common Sense was for his patriots and the country as a whole. Not to make his
political status rise, but to help America progress as an independent country. It wasn t about him
and his career as an author, but about having colonial unity amongst it s citizens, and fight together
to make America advance. Not only was their motive from the American public, but also from his
fellow comrades, like Ben Franklin. They would frequently discuss upon this matter of
independence and other international news, and this would have a significant influence into the
writing of his persuasive essay. He spent hours daily discussing with his fellow moderns. It is
obvious that Paine incorporated the conversations and correspondence with his compatriots into his
essay. The long discussions that he had with Ben Franklin and his other friends gave him good
ideas and a good understanding of their current situation. These long discussions were

The Story of Lacrosse It all started with the American Indians playing around and, soon enough
they made a game called Stickball. It s exclusively a male sport that is commonly alike with
other sports. A netted racquet was used to scoop or catch the ball or even convey it into or past a
goal to score the point. A cardinal rule was the Lacrosse ball cannot be touched by your hands. The
game was initially played in the St. Lawrence Valley area by the Algonquian tribe and they were
followed by other tribes in the eastern half of North America, an also around Western Great Lakes.

Implementation Of Ipd And Traditional Delivery Method
Implementation of IPD creates benefits for users according to a survey of AIACC and the
Associated General Contractors of America in 2008; specifically, IPD reduced 46% of design
and construction time, increased 58% of project quality, saved 61% of project costs, cut down
71% of project change orders and delays, and decreased 84% of conflicts occurred during the
project. Therefore, numerous construction experts recommend users to implement IPD in all
construction project types in order to minimize total project duration and costs (Cho Ballard, 2011;
FCMAA, 2008; Darrington Balzarano, 2010; El adaway, 2010). Figure 1.4. Comparison between
IPD and Traditional Delivery Method (Retrieved from AIA California Council, 2007)
According to Figure 1.4, IPD is obviously different from traditional project delivery method with
an early participation of all key members and shortening total project duration along with specific
phases represented distinctly needed work for each team member (AIA, 2007). As a result, IPD
process is sufficiently useful for any type of construction projects; however, this fairly new and
unaccustomed approach is being evaluated by professionals and practitioners for a reliable outcome

Bartleby, The Scrivener, By Melville
Melville s short story Bartleby, the Scrivener describes the narrator as an elderly old man that
wishes to give details of the life of Bartleby the scrivener. Bartleby was a complete motionless
human being who refuses to interact with the world around him. These actions shape the short
story, picking at the viewer s mind as to why Bartlebyis disconnected from society. Bartleby worked
in the dead letter office; therefore this may have triggered his inability to relate to the world around
him. This motionless docility covered his inner troubles that he withheld from the world. The
narrator states I have known very many of them, professionally and privately, and if I pleased, could
relate divers histories, at which good natured gentlemen might smile, and sentimental souls might
weep (Melville). In this statement he means that many persons might choose to smile as they find
pleasure in reading Bartleby as much as those who might weep because they find the short storyto
be discouraging. In the 1970 s adaptation of this short story, the narrator is one of those
sentimental souls who weeps for Bartleby. However, as the narrator eventually becomes
speechless to Bartleby preferring not to do his work, he also brings to life the humor of Bartleby s
story. Unlike the sympathetic and sometimes humorous narration of the short story and 1970
adaptation, the 2001 adaptation of Bartleby s story presents Bartleby as a terrifying and strange
man. In Melville s short story

A. Sound of the music: What does the first selection sound like? (How can we describe it in terms
of melody, harmony, rhythm, tone color, and form? How is the sound similar to or different from
music you are more familiar with?)(2 points)
Answer below:
The first selection, Hotter Than That , is a very colorful, upbeat presentation of traditional jazz. The
tempo is in 4/4 and is played at around 100 beats per minute. Mr. Armstrong moves quickly and
widely with the trumpet from high, vibrato tones to low, mellow contradictions. There is the bright
addition from a drum set that keeps the beat up. The Clarinet begins playing at about 45 seconds
into the song, which helps to add a mellow opposition to the brassy, crisp sound of the ... Show

This follows the standard of improvisation. This type of arrangement also adds a lot of excitement
and swing, making the listening want to move right along with the beat.
C. Compare and contrast: Now compare the first selection with the second. (In what ways are they
alike, and how are they different? Refer to the Listening Guides in the textbook.) (3 points)
Answer below:
The first and second selection both use similar instruments: a trumpet/coronet, a string (guitar) to
play bass, a clarinet, and drums. However, the second does not include the addition of vocals. Both
arrangements do posses a noticeable swing aspect. The difference in the trumpet and coronet help
with the overall mood. The first arrangement uses trumpet and is very brassy and crisp. The
coronet in the second selection is much softer in tone and bell like. Additionally, the rhythm is
around 70 beats per minute in the second selection vs. the first arrangement being about 50% faster
at around 100 beats per minute. Bix Beiderbecke plays much more of a ballad all the instruments
play throughout the song, which makes the improvisation harder

David has been very effective in running the office and carrying out all administrative procedures
in a highly organized and diplomatic way. These skills were readily apparent from the start and
have grown and strengthened during his time here. David coordinates departmental events and
travel, and all the events and trips that he has planned have been well executed. He has frequently
called ahead at different venues to make sure everything goes well for everyone, both students and
staff, in attendance. David also maintains most of the departmental correspondence, proving time
and again to be capable of consistently producing well refined, diplomatic, well crafted messages.

someone who is deeply committed, who strives successfully every day to do his best and to
make a difference. David is dependable, honest, and kind; he cares about people and is always
available to answer questions and assist others, even during his busiest moments. One of the best
things I did since coming to Andrews University three years ago was hiring David. Though I
would hate to see him go, I believe he truly deserves the best, and I am happy to do the little I can

Decision Systems And Human Computer Interaction Essay
On a warm evening after a busy day at the office, I fired up my Laptop to search Big Bang Theory ,
to learn further about the famous theory. However, all my search results were related to the sitcom.
This was astonishing, nevertheless, I checked the next page, the page after that, and so on.
Surprisingly, not even a single result pertaining to the intended scientific theory existed in the
search result. Only after appending the term science I arrived at the expected result. This made me
ponder about underlying intelligent systems at play, including the possible reasons for search
engine s failure to present the expected results. This incident was phenomenal in transforming my

Devil Facial Tumor Disease Analysis
Devil Facial Tumor Disease (DFTD) can be recognized by lumps around the face and neck.
(Evolution.berkeley.edu, 2008),which causes starvation in 12 18 months due to feeding
difficulties and therefore death (Deakin and Belov, 2012) . This fatal disease affects only
Tasmanian devils, marsupial carnivores of Tasmania. Scientists reported that devils may be
responding to DFTD by breeding earlier before the disease kills them, which could help the species

Reconstruction Of The United States
Schutz, Jackson CRN 36889 T/R 9:35 20 September 2015 Reconstructing the Unconstructable
Gunshots rang throughout American soil in the year 1861. The seven southern states seceded and
formed the Confederate States of America. The remaining northern states were known as the
Union. The central issue between the Union and the Confederacy was slavery which led to
America s bloodiest war, lasting four years and leaving roughly six hundred thousand people
dead. The North was victorious and the South s infrastructure was severely crippled. All slaves
were set free and a month before the official end to the war, Lincoln was assassinated, leaving Vice
President Andrew Johnson to take over the Presidency. The next task for America to tackle was the
South s reconstruction which would continue until 1877. Although reconstruction made the South
go through many changes leading to lots of progress, it also had some fallbacks from the
resentment present in the South. The 13th Amendment was passed saying, Neither slavery nor
involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly
convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. Upon the
emancipation of all black slaves inside the United States, children flocked to newly established
schools made possible by missionaries, groups of ex slaves, and even the Freedman s Bureau.
Congress set up the Freedman s Bureau to aid black former slaves in the South.

The War After War Since 1980
Study Purposes
Hawkar Oagaz
Iraq has been in the war since 1980. War after war. These devastated wars had made the country
on of the worst in the word in many aspects. Of course, they had influenced the life of each and
every person living there. I have seen the war and saw all affects that the war could left behind.
From destroyed cites to desperate people that have no hope to rebuild their country and their
lives. It affected me personally and shaped my personality. When I see all these pessimistic and
dark atmosphere, I feel there should be some people that can at least change this mode to better
one. This made me to feel responsible to do something and be part to what brings happiness to
those people. Therefore, it has always been my dream to be a productive person in the community.
I think one of the best way to be a positive element in the society is to be properly educated both
mentally and technically.
In Iraqi still most of the government regularities are done via paper and people have to wait a long
time to do simple things that will take minutes if done via a computerized systems. Thus,
computerizing governmental offices has to be considered as an urgent issue and government has to
work on it seriously. To accomplish the process of developing IT infrastructure and computerized
governmental offices, we need a lot of computer scientists and software engineering expertise. The
main problem in Iraq is the lack of expertise. However many private universities have

Blu-Ray vs. Dvd
Blu ray vs. DVD: What Is the Difference?

Blu ray vs. DVD: What Is the Difference? VHS and DVD were once the norm for watching
prerecorded movies on television. You could even record a program on these devices. Then, in the
late 1990 s came the arrival of high definition television (HDTV). This caused great excitement for
people who like to watch movies with better image details and in clearer resolution (Singh n.d.).
Soon, people wanted something similar to DVDs with HD quality picture and sound. Therefore, the
Blu ray Disc was introduced. What is the difference between blu ray disc (BD) and DVD? Here we
will look at the difference between the two formats including storage ... Show more content on

Some blu ray players are internet enabled so you can access the internet for additional blu ray
disc features. This feature is called BD Live. It is a digital pay per view video delivery service
that, through novel use of Java software, lets users rent movies via any blu ray player, provided
it supports BD Live (Calonge 2009). It is similar to video on demand. Blu ray discs are more
durable than DVDs. They are hard coated using a special technology. This means more
protection from dirt, dust, and scratches. DVDs scratch very easily. Current BD players are
backward compatible. Once you purchase a new blu ray player, you can always play back your
collection of DVD s on the same player. Unfortunately, you cannot play a BD on your current
DVD player. Therefore, if your DVD player has become redundant, there is still hope for your
DVD collection. BD players also up convert your DVD image to near 1920x1080p resolution.
We have looked at the history of DVDs and blu ray discs. We have also looked at the storage
capacity, interactivity, and playback resolution of the two formats. It is expected that the demand
for blu ray, due to the rising popularity of the format, will increase. By the manufacturers making
their blu ray players backward compatible you can play your collection of DVDs on a blu ray
player. Whatever your preference is, sit back and enjoy your movies.

Why Attending School
I have not attended many different schools but I know that they all have more than one thing in
common, and these things need to be changed somehow, they are just not working. Whether you
are attending primary school, secondary school or college there are always issues with how we
are taught, what is being taught to us and how will it help us at the end of the day. I am sure there
are many reasons why we are taught the way we are and why we need to learn these things. The
list is endless. My entire schoollife I have come to discover patterns from different students
including myself. Attending school and learning is not boring or tiring. The schedule, the
process and the reasoning behind going to school is unfitting. First they tell us what time we
have to be in class without even considering the time of year and what season it is. It does not
sound like much to worry about. But I have realized that students tend to wake up late during the
winter, they take longer getting out of the bed and tend to eat and sleep more meaning they have
less time to focus on homework no attending classes. The early, cold and dark mornings during
winter make it hard for students to leave their beds. The issue is not waking up, the issue is getting
out of the bed. Even though a student might know that they will get into trouble for missing a
lesson, they would rather deal with the teacher than go and face the cold especially at 7h45 in the
morning. What I am trying to say is, in the winter we

How Autonomy Should Be Fully Operate Themselves With No...
With the push from google and Tesla to develop fully autonomous cars, the big question I think
we should ask is should we? Should we develop vehicles that can fully operate themselves with
no possibility of human intervention? Since Google in the early 2000s, there has been a push
from manufacturers to produce vehicles that will one day be The driver. These systems can see
obstacles in front, behind, and all around themselves. They can brake, accelerate, make turns,
and park all by themselves, but should they have this level of control? Should we have some
level of control over these systems? I think the driverless discussion like many should meet in
the middle just like the old Diamond Rio song. Autonomy should benefit the elderly, the
disabled, and needy to provide levels of transportation, they otherwise wouldn t have. Autonomy
can take over on a crowded commute home after a long day of work. It can relieve the driver
when they need it, but people should always know how to drive, and we should continue to
bolster the transportation of our nation. The first article we will cover is Brian Fung s article, The
big question about driverless cars that no one seems able to answer. Fung deals with the large issue
of liability with driverless cars. He focuses on how insurance companies will have to adjust as cars
become increasingly more autonomous. Fung interviews several companies including State Farm,
Liberty Mutual, and the District of Columbia Insurance Federation. He

The Gospel Of Wealth Summary
Industrialist Andrew Carnegie was born in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland in November of 1835 to
a family of handloom weavers, a group hit remarkably hard by the mechanization of the textile
industry. Abandoning the minimal expectations and the now almost invaluable job of weaving in
the Scottish industrial cities, Carnegie s family emigrated to the United States in 1848. After
years of work and experience in the expansion of the steel industry, Carnegie obtained a general
logic of arguments about labor to the broader realm of social relation, giving specific attention to
the role of private upper class wealth in a democratic society. His article Wealth, later known as
The Gospel of Wealth, was published in the North American Review in June of 1889. In his
writing, he rejected the traditional goals of charity and depended on less carefully discriminating
between the worthy and unworthy recipients than on attacking the roots causes of inequality
/ distribution of wealth themselves. Carnegie believed that wealth should be invested in the useful
ventures for the sake of public being rather than using money frivolously and ineffectively. The
most fitting view in the fact of having surplus wealth of the few becomes the property of the
many, will help our society become more elevated, as Carnegie explains. (Carnegie 2) With such
strategies, the wealthy are more willing to give their wealth, while they are alive, rather than have
their wealth taken from by taxes when

Recovering From A Serious Knee Injury
Recovering from a serious knee injury and returning to pre injury levels can be a difficult task to
overcome, but it has been proven possible to do this. Improper injury protocols and the injuries
themselves are two of the largest factors in professional athletes not having elongated and
successful careers. ACL, MCL, PCL, LCL, and Patellar Tendonitis are the most common knee
injuries in which athletes sustain. Sustaining a knee injury at the highest and most competitive
levels of basketball can make the injury and recovery process much more difficult and stressful,
however. Depending on the injury, it can take a very extended amount of time for the knee to return
back to its normal functioning, especially since damaging one part of the knee does not come
without other injuries. A permanent and career ending injury may be the result if the proper
percussions are not taken throughout the recovery process.
Anterior cruciate ligament:
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is one of the four main ligaments in the knee joint that
connect it to the shin bone (tibia) and thigh bone (femur). It s located deep within the joint,
behind the kneecap (patella), above the shinbone, and below the thighbone. The ACL lies
diagonally across the middle of the knee and plays a role in keeping the knee stable during
movement. Partial tears of the ACL can occur, but are rare. Most ACL tears are either near

My Goals And Strengths And Weaknesses
Brooke Point High School has been my second home for the past three years and a half. There, I
have completed three Honors English classes, and I m currently in a Dual Enrollment course. In
those three years and a half, I have witnessed my writing skills develop and improve remarkably
over time, as well as my academic growth as a writer. Like every other writer, I have both strengths
and weaknesses. I rarely experience difficulty when it comes to grammar, putting my thoughts onto
paper, and researching. However, deciding what to write about and writinganalytical papers are
some of my weaknesses I have yet to overcome. Throughout my years in school, I have managed to
figure out my strengths and weaknesses, and continue to work to improveboth. Since starting high
school, I have found myself having less trouble with grammar, organizing my thoughts onto
paper, finishing the papers assigned to me on time, and researching. Although I once struggled
greatly with grammar, I don t see it as a problem anymore. The more I proofread and review the
papers I write, the less grammatical errors I find. Despite it taking me a while to figure out how
and what I want write about for certain papers and topics, I have always found it easy to put my
thoughts onto paper. Once I know what I want to write about, the thoughts come pouring in and I
find myself writing abundantly. Even though it takes me some time to figure it out at first, I still
manage to turn in my papers on time. Another

Ethos, Pathos, And Logos
Today I am here to take about Ethos, pathos, and Logos and how my discourse community
influenced my use of these devices to join other communities. If you do not know what a discourse
community is, then it is a group of people who share knowledge of a particular topic, similar
backgrounds and experiences etc. my discourse community was High schoolbroadcasting which for
most students they would never join because it is a very tech savvy class. At our school the
announcements were not done by an administrator, we had video feed to every classroom in

As well about half the students did not take us seriously. So with those in mind we had to build
up our credibility. In the beginning of the year we had to start with factual pieces which we
brought the students peers to react to videos like the iPhone 6 plus bend test in which I was in
charge of. We got great reactions and we got students to actually watch the show. As well as
showing quotes from important people and/or organizations. Students would actually believe and
understand what we were showing and were being informed. On top of that we got each episode
checked for credible by administers which we always passed. From these experience in
broadcasting I learned how to use ethos quite effectively. Broadcasting taught me that without ethos
you do not have anywhere to begin. If no one sees that you are credible then no one will listen to
you in your discourse community. It is important to show credibility without there is nowhere to
start. This transferred to my own way of using ethos to in the beaginnig show and strengthen my
credibility early on so people keep listening.
It is easy to just say a few facts but as our audience are high school students we had to gain their
attention via aesthetic appeal. When I mean is keep high school students interested in the show and
not go on their phones. If we could not connect to them then I would utterly make us useless that is
why we use pathos to keep the

Search And Seizure Exceptions . There Are Several Exceptions
Search and seizure exceptions There are several exceptions to the principles of search and
seizure. The plain view doctrine is an exception where evidence that is visible during a police
search, even without a warrant, may be seized. This may be used in situations where a crime is
in progress and an officer enters a residence. Any item within plain view that may be illegal will
fall within this exception. It may also be used during a traffic stop. However, this exception is
allowable only for instances when an officer sees the evidence while also having a legal right to
be in the viewing area (Schmalleger, 2014, p. 133). Although, one important case from the Supreme
Court, Harris v. United States (1968) involved an officer who... Show more content on

This exception comes into play when an officer either conducts a search and/or seizes property
based on the belief that it is within a lawful situation. However, it may later be determined that
the search warrant may be ruled as illegal. If the officer had perceived the search and seizure was
being conducted with reasonable good faith, an exception can exist to the exclusionary rule
(Schmalleger, 2014, p. 131). This was determined in the case of United States v. Leon (1984)
when the Supreme Court determined that the officer had performed due diligence in obtaining a
warrant, yet it later proved to be invalid due to lack of probable cause. Instead of applying the
fruits of the poisonous tree doctrine, the court indicated the officer acted in good faith and that an
exception was to be enacted. Exclusionary rule cases The exclusionary rule, handed down by the
Supreme Court in 1914, is a court made constitutional requirement regarding evidence obtained
during search and seizure (Walker Hemmens, 2010, p. 89). Since it is not specified in the fourth
amendment, the court used the exclusionary rule to allow or exclude evidence according to the
rules covering search and seizure. The case that initially brought forth the exclusionary rule was

The Pros And Cons Of Nuclear Bombs
In the past century, nuclear bombs have played an essential role in world politics and influenced
the dynamics of warfare. The nuclear bomb possesses the capability of destroying an entire city in
a matter of seconds. No other weapon would be capable of accomplishing that goal. Some people
may say that because of the catastrophic and world ending possibilities that the nuclear bomb would
cause, future wars would be prevented. This point of view does not take into consideration that if a
full scale nuclear war would begin, the human population would be eliminated and may render the
Earth uninhabitable. With tensions building between nuclear wielding countries growing higher, a
nuclear war is pending. Because of the tremendous environmental... Show more content on

It is widely believed that strategic nuclear deterrence makes a contingent promise: if you attack,
you will suffer consequences you cannot accept (Huggins n.p.). The idea of nuclear deterrence is
based on the idea that to prevent a possible attack then a country must have the ability to inflict
damage that would be more detrimental than the possible positives that would result from an
invasion. Noel Gayler, a former admiral in the United States Navy, and Bruce Russett repeatedly
deny the claim that the nuclear bomb is necessary for attacks or deterrence. Gayler who has a
plentiful amount of experience as an admiral in the Pacific states, I see no military usefulness for
nuclear weapon. In the responsibilities I once held as a commander in chief of the U.S. armed
forces in the Pacific... I was never able to identify a campaign in the Pacific, however farfetched,
in which the initial use of a nuclear weapon would have been of advantage to the United States
(12 13). This quote proves that with all the tribulations that a country might face while at war, the
probability that a situation would escalate to warrant the use of a nuclear war would not be likely
to occur. The potential devastating effects that a nuclear bomb would cause does not warrant its
use in warfare. The nuclear bomb is not necessary for deterrence and the notion that to have the
ability to deter a nation is to have nuclear weapons is false. A country with very strong convention
weapons do not gain much assistance when adding nuclear bombing capabilities. The only
deterrence against a military threat would be excellent diplomacy between the two conflicting
nations and a strong military to back the leaders which makes the nuclear aspect not as important
(Russett 290). John F. Kennedy s response to the Cuban Missile crisis and his calmness in the face

Shunning In The Scarlet Letter
In today s and even through history the word shunning was conceptualized as meaning to avoid,
ignore, or reject. It was used predominantly during the 1600s and was mainly used towards people
who don t follow a certain law or rule in religion. These people often were left on the outskirts of
their society not being able to prove or change the way people viewed them. Much of what
happened then still happens now. For example with things such as social media and the internet.

Analysis Of Simone De Beauvoir s The Second Sex
The first text we explore in this step is Bonaventure s On Seeing God in his Image . Bonaventure
shows us that through inward reflection we can see God. God can then lead us to God s two most
important laws, and the best ways for us to live in community with others; by loving God, and our
neighbors. The next text is from the 2nd Vatican Council called Pastoral Constitution, which
focused on bringing the church into modern times. This text focuses on the importance of helping
those being marginalized, those who are on the brink of society, and what is the best way that the
Church as a community can fight to protect them. The following text comes from Simone de

One major link includes the fight between an oppressed group and their persecutors. Whether it s
the proletariat and the bourgeois in The Communist Manifesto, or the inequality of genders in
The Second Sex, or the flight of the African Americans in the Letter from Birmingham Jail . In
all of these texts we are shown how easy it is for one group to abuse their power and create
unfair rules and regulations only imposed on the more inferior members of society. Each group
of oppressor thrives off of alienating, and subjugating their inferiors. So it seems the theme of
solidarity is the only way to combat this linkage of oppression. In all of the texts we are shown
that through solidarity comes freedom. We see in Bonaventure, and Vatican Council II that all God
wants for God s people is inclusion, and to fight for the rights of the others of the world. In the
more secular texts from King, de Beauvoir, and Marx and Engels, we see the same ideas. The only
way to fight prejudice is to unite the people of either side of the problem, and have them work
together to make the whole of society a more inclusive place. By uniting together to fight
oppression we overcome the trivialities that separate seemingly opposing groups. The next theme
contingent throughout the step is the benefits of community. This is similar to the inclusiveness
that comes from solidarity, but through community we can prevent oppression from happening

The Epidemic Of Child Labour
You cannot escape the responsibilities of tomorrow by evading it today
Abraham Lincoln
The prevalence of child labour is a blot on society. It is a national disgrace that millions of
children in this country have to spend a major part of their daily routine in hazardous works. The
problem of child labour in India is the result of traditional attitudes, urbanisation, industrialisation,
migration, lack of education, etc. However, extreme poverty is the main cause of child labour.
However, this miracle idea falls short after identifying the brutal cons that develop along with Child
Labour. Youth are weak and can be susceptible to damage especially with the demanding jobs of a
factory. Simply stating, a child will wilt when put to work with hard tasks that occur in factories.
Just imagine how this effect to continue onto the descendants of this child. The business of Child
Labour where children must succumb to the control of atrocious lifestyles, which, with unstable
governments immerse a child in the hazardous struggle of unsafe workstations, poor wages, and an
immeasurable negative affect on its mind.
One argument used to corrobate the fact that Child Labour had a positive effect on the economy
was the immense change in salary costs from adults to children. The transference between adult
wages to children wages secured a high access rate for the factory and company owners. Children
were paid a wage to support their family. Without a father or mother bringing income,

Jez Butterworth s Jerusalem creates a comic vision focusing on the ambiguities, turmoil and
hypocrisies of the society presented on stage. Butterworth focuses on the characters degeneracies in
which the form of humour tends to be the exposure of their unruly behaviour and their reluctance to

Comparing Cardinal Richelieu s Practice of Ruler Ship to...
Some regard nineteenth century France to be the France of NapolГ©on Bonaparte and, in the same
respect, it can be argued that ancien rГ©gime France was the France of Armand Jean du Plessis de
Richelieu. Upon entering the French political arena, Richelieu was thrown amidst the struggles of
international diplomacy, the devious schemes of the nobility, and the disgruntlement of the
common people. Similarly, the unstable Florentine Italy which NiccГІlo Machiavelli familiarized
himself with led both these prominent men to publish their respective works: The Prince by
Machiavelli and The Political Testament of Cardinal Richelieuby Richelieu himself. By rejecting
conventional morals, disregarding haughty ideals, and promoting ruthless tactics, The... Show more

The burden of paying taxes fell upon the peasantry since the majority of nobility and high
bourgeoisie were either exempt or effortlessly evaded payment. The social distress amongst the
peasantry caused by the war taxation resulted in several uprisings between 1636 and 1639, which
the Cardinal crushed violently and dealt with the rebels in a harsh manner which Machiavelli would
have promoted.# However, when examining to what extent Machiavelli s maxims on ruler ship
applied to Richelieu s own experiences, it is important to understand that a state s domestic affairs
and it s international ones are mutually constitutive. It is apparent that the issue of internal security
was crucial and impacted France s status in the international arena. From 1624 8, Richelieu s
foreign policy was jeopardized by national concerns: the revolt of the Huguenots and
inconveniences resulting from those who directly opposed him within France, specifically the
noblesse and the peasantry. With increasingly power acquiring factions, Richelieu understood that
the greater part of educated, intelligent French citizens wished for a sound

Business Management Personal Statement
I have fourteen years of administrative experience. My goal is to continue in this field as either an
executive administrative assistant or as a corporate secretary. I have experience in both positions,
but experience and networking does not always grantee me a job. A degree in Business
Management would allow me to further my career.
Not only will completing a degree allow me to advance professionally, but I believe I will also
obtain personal growth. It has been very discouraging for me to not have completed a degree and I
feel an additional confidence and self satisfaction factor will be achieved when I complete my
degree.

I was able to attend some online classes at Truckee Meadows Community College thoroughly
enjoyed the experience. I was even able to help my husband get through an online course by
setting a schedule for him. I interacted with many individuals who found online learning to be a
challenge and did not find this to be the case for me. I also found my experiences and age to be a
strength rather than a hindrance when attending college. During the in person sessions I found
many of the younger students afraid to ask the professor questions and I was able to mentor them
past this fear and help them through the course.
I feel my only challenge remaining as a learner is at times I can be overly tired and not able to
fully comprehend the information. As I am aware of this issue I try to complete assignments
early and allow extra time in case I need to step away to come back to the assignment when I am
more rested. One of the ways I address this issue is to multiply the time I believe it will take to
complete the task by 3. For example, if I feel the task will take an hour to complete, I allow for 3
hours. If the assignment is more challenging I break up the assignment into smaller

Attack And Die Book Review
In terms of considering why the Southern Confederacy lost the Civil War, Grady McWhiney and
Perry Jamieson have published an interestingly well researched book that offers a fresh, new
interpretation for southern defeat. In Attack and Die, McWhiney and Jamieson submit that the
foremost reason for southern defeat came from an aggressive southern heritage that was steeped in
a culture taken from their ancestors, the Celts. McWhiney and Jamieson offer another, more salient
reason why the Confederacy lost the Civil War. Because Southerners were imprisoned in a culture
that rejected careful calculation and patience, often refusing to learn from their mistakes, the real
reason the Confederates lost was because the offensive warfare that was so foundational to
Confederate wartime strategy, also known as the Celtic charge,... Show more content on

Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Short Story
The story of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is integral to the overall narrative of
the Israelites descent into Egypt. It also tells us that anyone can make his or her dreams come true.
His progression from dream interpreting shepherd to minister of Egypt is one of the most elaborate
stories in the Bible, the Book of Genesis. Joseph was born in a family of 12 boys and Joseph was his
father s favorite. Jacob wanted to show everyone how much he loved Joseph and decided to give
him coat of many colors. The coat of colors was a prestige gift in Canaan, because it was very
expensive back then. Joseph had a dream of 11 sheaves of corn that turned and bowed down to a
golden sheaf of corn another dream that was about the sun, moon, and sky with eleven stars
bowing down before a bright golden star. He knew that someday he was meant for more things to
come that are powerful in his life. This was Gods way to show him that he will be great someday
and be a ruler. With the combination of knowing Joseph is Jacob s favorite son and Joseph s
dreams of being one that he may be a ruler of some kind, the 11 brothers become very jealous.
One day, they decided that they wanted to kill him, but before they get the chance, they came
across a couple of Ishmaelite s on their way to Egypt. They decided to sell Joseph as a slave. As
Joseph is taken to Egypt, his brothers return home, told their father that Joseph is dead; they

Was The Munich Agreement Inevitable
The Munich Agreement was an agreement between the British, French, Germans, and Italians that
allowed Hitler control over Sudetenland in Czechoslovakia. Hitler knew that France and Britain
were not prepared to fight another war and would not oppose his demands. So he set forth his plan
of destroying Czechoslovakia and succeeded without much resistance. The agreement allowed
Hitler to complete his plan with ease. Some, like Neville Chamberlain, believed that this was a
victory because it prevented war with Germany; while others, like Winston Churchill, believe that it
was a total and unmitigated defeat (Winston Churchill 1938). Pro appeasement views on Munich
agreement were that it avoided war and that it gave Britain, France, and Italy... Show more content

He was welcomed by mostly overjoyed crowds and boasted about attaining the peace with honor
(Neville Chamberlain 1938). Unfortunately he had some critics like Winston Churchill that
opposed his decisions. Churchill expressed his belief that Chamberlain made a very dishonorable
agreement with Germany that would in turn lead to an inevitable war. This was proven true when
Germany annexed what was left of Czechoslovakia and, one year later, Hitler went back on his
word and invaded Poland, leaving Chamberlain no choice but to declare war on Britain s behalf.
This led to the start of World War II.
In conclusion, war with Germany was inevitable. Although Chamberlain and Churchill had
different views on how the conflict should have been resolved, Germany would have still chosen
to declare war. Chamberlain s misjudgment over the situation led to him losing a lot of his
credibility as a leader. As a result, Churchill replaced Chamberlain as prime minister of Great
Britain. The agreement birthed the perception that Western democracies were weak and would do
anything to prevent war. The only positive outcome of this was that it allowed the participating
countries time to prepare their militaries for

Advantages Of Helical Spring
CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
GENERAL INTRODUCTION
1.1 Helical Spring
Helical spring is defined as an elastic body, whose function is to distort when loaded and to recover
its original shape when the load is removed. The helical springs are made up of a wire coiled in the
form of a helix and are primarily intended for compressive or tensile loads. The cross section of the
wire from which the spring is made may be circular, square or rectangular. Helical compression
springs have applications to resist applied compression forces or in the push mode, store energy
to provide the push . Different forms of compression springs are produced. The helical springs are
said to be closely coiled when the spring wire is coiled so close that the plane containing each ...

Essay about If I See A Ghost Are My Senses
IF I SEE A GHOST ARE MY SENSES TO BLAME?
To complement the full apprehension of the terms which will be used throughout this argument, a
number of meanings taken from The Lexicon Webster Dictionary is provided:
GHOST
The soul or spirit of a dead person. A disembodied spirit.
HALLUCINATION
(psy) an apparent perception, as by sight or hearing, for which there is no real external cause, as
distinguished from illusion
ILLUSION
A false impression or belief. False perception or conception of some object of sense. A perception of
a thing which misrepresents it, or gives it qualities not present in reality.

All these examples fall under error of perception but the following is an interesting experiment
carried out by the Toronto Society Of Psychical Research. They discovered that sГ©ance
phenomena might be attributed, at least in part, to the same psychokinetic force that is commonly
believed to be responsible for poltergeist (unquiet ghost) activity. They suggested that this force
could be produced by the minds of the sitters, fuelled perhaps by their unanimous belief that such
phenomena would occur during the sГ©ance. They theorized that the role of the medium was that
of a placebo, and that no particular psychic sensitivity was necessary for a successful sГ©ance.
Apart from considering all the forms of perceptional errors, we can explain the existence of such
spirits that are perceived (but not always believed!) If we want to stick to the Rationalist philosophy
and therefore state that such presences should be reasoned out, rather than just experienced, we can
say that this subject has brought together many professionals from around the globe, using their
knowledge and their equipment to get the truth out. This type of philosophical approach is what I
am trying to use to explain these so called ghosts.

Status Of Women In The 1800s
Throughout the twentieth century the status of women has been on a slow, but steady upward
slope. The women of this time worked extremely hard to earn the rights and status we hold today.
The improvements in the status of women were subtle in the beginning. In time though, it became
well known the overall status of women and how they once were viewed was to be changed for
the better in the eyes of society. The change in women s status included but was not limited to:
improvement in their every day work atmosphere, voting rights were given, and the ability to be
noticed for their hard work was achieved. Solely the women themselves did not achieve the
noticeable improvement in the status of women; the federal government played a large role in the
improvement as well. The federal governments involvement included but was not limited to:

By the early 1900 s the percentage of women who worked out side the home worked in factories.
Factories were unclean, held no proper safety regulations, and required the women to work long

long. Because the women were working these long hours they felt they needed to be heard when
it came to the complaints they had. The 25 percent of women that made up the work force were
a crucial factor in the ever growing U.S economy. In their ability to provide the U.S with
essential economic power the women gained so called public visibility. The ability for women to
be in the work force signified the beginning of true modernity in female roles. The newfound
visibility and forcefulness of women in the work force would lead to their later well earned rights.

  • 2. Assessment Of The Myers Briggs Type Indicator MBTI Assessment Outcomes The results of my Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment revealed that I am an Introverted, Intuitive, Thinking and Perceiving (INTP) person. I don t believe to have done this test in the past, so coming to find out that for the most part I fit the description was quite interesting. I am not necessarily everything an INTP is but it is the description that fits best. My current position at the company I work for has and will allow me to experiment with some of the materials we are sharing during this term and create my own conclusions on what works best for the type of employees that work under my direction. Overview of State Law in Regards Rest Periods Isabel Briggs Myers created 16 personality types and one of them was INTP. According to Isabel an INTP seeks to develop logical explanations for everything that interests them. Theoretical and abstract, interested more in ideas than in social interaction. Quiet, contained, flexible, and adaptable. Have unusual ability to focus in depth to solve problems in their area of interest. Skeptical, sometimes critical, always analytical (CSU Global, 2016). I am not necessarily everything an INTP is but it is the description that fits best. 1.How you might improve your working relationships with your teammates? Being flexible and adaptable have become key on succeeding at my current job. However, there are some instances where I disagree with some decisions made and that creates conflict with ... • 3. Aluminum Foils Before building the design that is best fit for the presentation, there was many models that had failed . To start off with, the first design to successfully float with 50 pennies for 20 seconds was Tyler s design that was built with two pop cans and two sheets of aluminum paper (one is used to wrap the cans while the other is used to make a cup to hold the pennies). However, when the group weighed this in class, it was around 31 grams, which is 4.5 grams overweight (the requirement is 26.5 grams). Seeing this, the group cut the top of both cans off, this decreased the weight and allowed the boat to meet standards. Sadly, since the opening was big, small amounts of water leaked in while tested, this made the group reconsider using this design in the final presentation. Following Tyler s design, Jalen created a design that had one pop can and aluminum foil wrapped around it, however, when Jalen tested this at home, it did not work. During this time, Claire made a design to Tyler s. Instead of using aluminum foil to wrap around the two cans, Claire poked two holes through both cans and used a metal strip (a strip of aluminum cut from a pop can) and connected the two cans. Knowing that it will be overweight, Claire cut both tops off.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Starting off with Tyler s design, the surface areaof this boat is bigger, this allows the pressure from the pennies to spread out. Claire s design is similar to Tyler s, its advantage over the previous design is that it is lighter, however, it is also unbalanced making the boat float in an awkward angle. Lastly, there is the group design, which has the advantage of disabling the water to cover its insides but a disadvantage of a higher number in the depth of the displaced area. To prove this, the group should test all three boats out during the presentation, this would help communicate the designs on each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Tuition Increase Affected Enrollment Rate Table of Contents Introduction 3 Background 4 Analysis 5 Factors 6 Recommendation 7 Conclusion 8 References 9 Introduction In 2000, the Board of Ursinus College, raised its tuition from $19,331 to $23,460. This turned out to be a 17.6% increase. Surprisingly, the tuition increase proved to be a positive change for Ursinus College. The college received more than 200 applicants than its previous year (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Other regional institutions such as University of Notre Dame, Bryn Mawr College and Rice University also experienced a similar trend once they increased their tuition rates (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). The president of Ursinus College deduced that the tuition increase affected enrollment rate (increased enrollment). She simply stated that people don t want cheap (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Today, Susan Hansen, Admissions Director of East Liberal Arts College, wishes to increase tuition and reduce financial aid available to students (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). Moreover, she has expressed that increasing tuition and reducing the amount of financial aid will solve the schools financial problems (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, 2009, p. 110). This will be done by increasing an effective tuition from $15,000 to $25,000 (Brickley et al., 2009). She also projects that the tuition increase enrollment from 400 to 600 students (Brickley, Smith and Zimmerman, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Job Enrichment And An Organization Job enrichment can be defined as the process by which jobs are redesigned for workers so that they can be in control of their duties and also perform more tasks to develop personal skills. An important aspect of job enrichment is job redesign and it deals with the modification of the tasks assigned to workers in an organization. The case study that will be analyzed for Job enrichment theory in this paper is the expanded HIM functions. In order to fully employ Job enrichment in an organization, the motivational goals must be put in place. Goal setting is a medium in which managers can help to motivate workers to be more efficient while performing their tasks. While redesigning jobs for HIS department workers, the SMART goal setting principles was applied. The Smart goal is the acronym for specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely. All these characteristics are evident in the goals, cut out by the management of the HIS department in the bid of motivating the workers and increasing productivity. HIS set its goals in four levels, the engineering goals, restructuring goals, work redesign goals and job redesign goals. The engineering goals were set to analyze the visions, regulations and organizational structure. The restructuring goals will reevaluate the organizational structure. Work redesign goals also reevaluate the tasks assigned to the workers and the job redesign were set to remove, add or restructure the tasks assigned to the workers. The goals set was ... The unhealthy lifestyle that children have is influenced by their parents and the society that surrounds them. As stated in the Encyclopedia of Science s article, obesity is affecting any child from any ethnicity or race, age, economic backing, or region. Hispanic children, African American children, native American children, and any other children with bad quality eating habits, especially in the south, are at an exceptionally higher risk. The southern part of America is known for their comfort food, which is extremely fattening, and is the reason why children living in the south have an exceptionally higher chance of becoming obese. In the African American communities, as well as the Hispanic communities, nearly 40% of the children are overweight or obese. Children who are at a lower economic standing may have a higher chance of developing obesity, but that doesn t mean wealthier children are immune. The site, Let s Move states that without solving this issue, 1/3 of all children born after 2000 will suffer from diabetes at one point in their lives. Statistics from the Encyclopedia of Life Science show that this number is still growing and is being compared to the 7% of obese children and 5% obese teens in the 1980 s, to show the changes needed to be done in society. • 8. Thomas Paine Influence Would the revolutionary war in the New World have developed without Thomas Paine? Political activist Thomas Paine created the first influential piece of writing, Common Sense, about retrieving American independence over Great Britain. Common Sense was a famous 50 page pamphlet discussing the possibility of creating a democratic republican party, and advocating independence from Great Britain. Thomas Painehad ideas of independence before he wrote Common Sense, but the American Public and his comrades motivated him even more about the prospect of independence, and influenced him to write the pamphlet. He had already written papers about the injustices and cruelties the Americans had to face while being overruled by Britain. Thomas Paine was the only American who had the audacity to write about gaining independence from Britain. He was the one who believed in America and its citizens to become a world superpower, and to grow into making their beloved country special. Written in his essay Age of Reason, he said, I saw, or at least I thought I saw, a vast scene opening itself to the world in the affairs of America; and it appeared to me, that unless the Americans changed the plan they were then pursuing, with respect to the government of England, and declared themselves independent, they would not only involve themselves in a multiplicity of new difficulties, but shut out the prospect that was then offering itself to mankind through their means, (44). In this passage of The Age of Reason, he stated his motive to write Common Sense. His motive to write Common Sense was for his patriots and the country as a whole. Not to make his political status rise, but to help America progress as an independent country. It wasn t about him and his career as an author, but about having colonial unity amongst it s citizens, and fight together to make America advance. Not only was their motive from the American public, but also from his fellow comrades, like Ben Franklin. They would frequently discuss upon this matter of independence and other international news, and this would have a significant influence into the writing of his persuasive essay. He spent hours daily discussing with his fellow moderns. It is obvious that Paine incorporated the conversations and correspondence with his compatriots into his essay. The long discussions that he had with Ben Franklin and his other friends gave him good ideas and a good understanding of their current situation. These long discussions were ... A cardinal rule was the Lacrosse ball cannot be touched by your hands. Implementation Of Ipd And Traditional Delivery Method Implementation of IPD creates benefits for users according to a survey of AIACC and the Associated General Contractors of America in 2008; specifically, IPD reduced 46% of design and construction time, increased 58% of project quality, saved 61% of project costs, cut down 71% of project change orders and delays, and decreased 84% of conflicts occurred during the project. Therefore, numerous construction experts recommend users to implement IPD in all construction project types in order to minimize total project duration and costs (Cho Ballard, 2011; FCMAA, 2008; Darrington Balzarano, 2010; El adaway, 2010). • 15. Bartleby, The Scrivener, By Melville Melville s short story Bartleby, the Scrivener describes the narrator as an elderly old man that wishes to give details of the life of Bartleby the scrivener. Bartleby was a complete motionless human being who refuses to interact with the world around him. These actions shape the short story, picking at the viewer s mind as to why Bartlebyis disconnected from society. Bartleby worked in the dead letter office; therefore this may have triggered his inability to relate to the world around him. This motionless docility covered his inner troubles that he withheld from the world. The narrator states I have known very many of them, professionally and privately, and if I pleased, could relate divers histories, at which good natured gentlemen might smile, and sentimental souls might weep (Melville). In this statement he means that many persons might choose to smile as they find pleasure in reading Bartleby as much as those who might weep because they find the short storyto be discouraging. In the 1970 s adaptation of this short story, the narrator is one of those sentimental souls who weeps for Bartleby. However, as the narrator eventually becomes speechless to Bartleby preferring not to do his work, he also brings to life the humor of Bartleby s story. Unlike the sympathetic and sometimes humorous narration of the short story and 1970 adaptation, the 2001 adaptation of Bartleby s story presents Bartleby as a terrifying and strange man. (3 points) Answer below: The first and second selection both use similar instruments: a trumpet/coronet, a string (guitar) to play bass, a clarinet, and drums. However, the second does not include the addition of vocals. Both arrangements do posses a noticeable swing aspect. The difference in the trumpet and coronet help with the overall mood. The first arrangement uses trumpet and is very brassy and crisp. The coronet in the second selection is much softer in tone and bell like. The seven southern states seceded and formed the Confederate States of America. The remaining northern states were known as the Union. The central issue between the Union and the Confederacy was slavery which led to America s bloodiest war, lasting four years and leaving roughly six hundred thousand people dead. The North was victorious and the South s infrastructure was severely crippled. All slaves were set free and a month before the official end to the war, Lincoln was assassinated, leaving Vice President Andrew Johnson to take over the Presidency. The next task for America to tackle was the South s reconstruction which would continue until 1877. Although reconstruction made the South go through many changes leading to lots of progress, it also had some fallbacks from the resentment present in the South. The 13th Amendment was passed saying, Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction. Upon the emancipation of all black slaves inside the United States, children flocked to newly established schools made possible by missionaries, groups of ex slaves, and even the Freedman s Bureau. Whether you are attending primary school, secondary school or college there are always issues with how we are taught, what is being taught to us and how will it help us at the end of the day. I am sure there are many reasons why we are taught the way we are and why we need to learn these things. The list is endless. My entire schoollife I have come to discover patterns from different students including myself. Attending school and learning is not boring or tiring. The schedule, the process and the reasoning behind going to school is unfitting. First they tell us what time we have to be in class without even considering the time of year and what season it is. It does not sound like much to worry about. But I have realized that students tend to wake up late during the winter, they take longer getting out of the bed and tend to eat and sleep more meaning they have less time to focus on homework no attending classes. The early, cold and dark mornings during winter make it hard for students to leave their beds. The issue is not waking up, the issue is getting out of the bed. These systems can see obstacles in front, behind, and all around themselves. They can brake, accelerate, make turns, and park all by themselves, but should they have this level of control? The Gospel Of Wealth Summary Industrialist Andrew Carnegie was born in Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland in November of 1835 to a family of handloom weavers, a group hit remarkably hard by the mechanization of the textile industry. Abandoning the minimal expectations and the now almost invaluable job of weaving in the Scottish industrial cities, Carnegie s family emigrated to the United States in 1848. After years of work and experience in the expansion of the steel industry, Carnegie obtained a general logic of arguments about labor to the broader realm of social relation, giving specific attention to the role of private upper class wealth in a democratic society. His article Wealth, later known as The Gospel of Wealth, was published in the North American Review in June of 1889. In his writing, he rejected the traditional goals of charity and depended on less carefully discriminating between the worthy and unworthy recipients than on attacking the roots causes of inequality / distribution of wealth themselves. Carnegie believed that wealth should be invested in the useful ventures for the sake of public being rather than using money frivolously and ineffectively. The most fitting view in the fact of having surplus wealth of the few becomes the property of the many, will help our society become more elevated, as Carnegie explains. This was determined in the case of United States v. The idea of nuclear deterrence is based on the idea that to prevent a possible attack then a country must have the ability to inflict damage that would be more detrimental than the possible positives that would result from an invasion. Noel Gayler, a former admiral in the United States Navy, and Bruce Russett repeatedly deny the claim that the nuclear bomb is necessary for attacks or deterrence. Gayler who has a plentiful amount of experience as an admiral in the Pacific states, I see no military usefulness for nuclear weapon. In the responsibilities I once held as a commander in chief of the U.S. armed forces in the Pacific... I was never able to identify a campaign in the Pacific, however farfetched, in which the initial use of a nuclear weapon would have been of advantage to the United States (12 13). This quote proves that with all the tribulations that a country might face while at war, the probability that a situation would escalate to warrant the use of a nuclear war would not be likely to occur. The potential devastating effects that a nuclear bomb would cause does not warrant its use in warfare. The nuclear bomb is not necessary for deterrence and the notion that to have the ability to deter a nation is to have nuclear weapons is false. A country with very strong convention weapons do not gain much assistance when adding nuclear bombing capabilities. The only deterrence against a military threat would be excellent diplomacy between the two conflicting nations and a strong military to back the leaders which makes the nuclear aspect not as important (Russett 290). It was used predominantly during the 1600s and was mainly used towards people who don t follow a certain law or rule in religion. These people often were left on the outskirts of their society not being able to prove or change the way people viewed them. Much of what happened then still happens now. She looked at her punishment with contempt and strength. The sin of adultery that she committed was represented through her scarlet letter that she wore. She wore this letter on her chest not as a shame or guilt , she wore it loud and proud with no regrets. For example when she wore this letter out in public her reaction toward this was a haughty smile. She did not care what others thought of her or the sins she had committed. The way she rid herself of this void was turning to sewing garments of clothing, and doing charity work. Even after doing all these things, her reputation as an outcast and loner still made her the talk of the town. For example children often laughed and mocked her, preachers also would come up to her in the street and start to deliver a lecture basically trying to cleanse her from evil. Even after all the isolation and ignorance she faced on a daily basis she never let that ruin her life. This such shunning and hate she once endured actually made her a town s favorite. Bonaventure shows us that through inward reflection we can see God. God can then lead us to God s two most important laws, and the best ways for us to live in community with others; by loving God, and our neighbors. The next text is from the 2nd Vatican Council called Pastoral Constitution, which focused on bringing the church into modern times. This text focuses on the importance of helping those being marginalized, those who are on the brink of society, and what is the best way that the Church as a community can fight to protect them. One major link includes the fight between an oppressed group and their persecutors. Whether it s the proletariat and the bourgeois in The Communist Manifesto, or the inequality of genders in The Second Sex, or the flight of the African Americans in the Letter from Birmingham Jail . In all of these texts we are shown how easy it is for one group to abuse their power and create unfair rules and regulations only imposed on the more inferior members of society. Each group of oppressor thrives off of alienating, and subjugating their inferiors. So it seems the theme of solidarity is the only way to combat this linkage of oppression. In all of the texts we are shown that through solidarity comes freedom. We see in Bonaventure, and Vatican Council II that all God wants for God s people is inclusion, and to fight for the rights of the others of the world. In the more secular texts from King, de Beauvoir, and Marx and Engels, we see the same ideas. The only way to fight prejudice is to unite the people of either side of the problem, and have them work together to make the whole of society a more inclusive place. By uniting together to fight oppression we overcome the trivialities that separate seemingly opposing groups. The next theme contingent throughout the step is the benefits of community. This is similar to the inclusiveness that comes from solidarity, but through community we can prevent oppression from happening ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Epidemic Of Child Labour You cannot escape the responsibilities of tomorrow by evading it today Abraham Lincoln The prevalence of child labour is a blot on society. It is a national disgrace that millions of children in this country have to spend a major part of their daily routine in hazardous works. The problem of child labour in India is the result of traditional attitudes, urbanisation, industrialisation, migration, lack of education, etc. However, extreme poverty is the main cause of child labour. However, this miracle idea falls short after identifying the brutal cons that develop along with Child Labour. Youth are weak and can be susceptible to damage especially with the demanding jobs of a factory. Simply stating, a child will wilt when put to work with hard tasks that occur in factories. Just imagine how this effect to continue onto the descendants of this child. The business of Child Labour where children must succumb to the control of atrocious lifestyles, which, with unstable governments immerse a child in the hazardous struggle of unsafe workstations, poor wages, and an immeasurable negative affect on its mind. One argument used to corrobate the fact that Child Labour had a positive effect on the economy was the immense change in salary costs from adults to children. The transference between adult wages to children wages secured a high access rate for the factory and company owners. Children were paid a wage to support their family. To what extent does Jez Butterworth focus on human weakness and ineptitude in his play Jerusalem ? Jez Butterworth s Jerusalem creates a comic vision focusing on the ambiguities, turmoil and hypocrisies of the society presented on stage. Butterworth focuses on the characters degeneracies in which the form of humour tends to be the exposure of their unruly behaviour and their reluctance to conform to social norms. Some regard nineteenth century France to be the France of NapolГ©on Bonaparte and, in the same respect, it can be argued that ancien rГ©gime France was the France of Armand Jean du Plessis de Richelieu. Upon entering the French political arena, Richelieu was thrown amidst the struggles of international diplomacy, the devious schemes of the nobility, and the disgruntlement of the common people. It is apparent that the issue of internal security was crucial and impacted France s status in the international arena. From 1624 8, Richelieu s foreign policy was jeopardized by national concerns: the revolt of the Huguenots and inconveniences resulting from those who directly opposed him within France, specifically the noblesse and the peasantry.
