Disaster management involves preparing for, responding to, recovering from, and preventing disasters. A disaster is an event that results in widespread human and property loss. Disaster management has four main components: preparedness, response, recovery, and prevention. Preparedness involves making communities capable of coping with disasters through education, warning systems, and practice drills. Response involves minimizing effects during and after a disaster by implementing plans, setting up medical camps, and search and rescue. Recovery supports rebuilding infrastructure and restoring well-being through counseling, restoring services, and reconstruction. Prevention aims to eliminate or reduce disasters through measures like restricting habitation in risk zones and building disaster-resistant structures.
