A July 2015 study in Vietnam surveyed 1,290 participants on societal perceptions of LGBT individuals, revealing that nearly 50% have seen LGBT people publicly, but acceptance varies by region, with the North showing less support than the South. A significant portion of respondents, especially younger individuals, support same-sex marriage, while older individuals are more likely to view LGBT identities as a psychological disorder. The study also found generational differences in attitudes towards LGBT personal relationships and public displays of affection.
